Waching daily Feb 6 2017

G'day guys.

How's it going?

Welcome to this episode of Sitting Under A Tree With Pete.

I'm out in the park today, and I thought I would come out here and make some more episodes

for you guys,

have a bit of a chat, catch up, see how you've been.

I hope you've all been well.

It's almost the end of January, or I guess it's the last day of January at the moment.

So, it's the 31st, and for the last month or so I've just been taking it easy,

doing quite a bit on the podcast, trying to get things up and going as well as studying,

trying to finish the PhD at the moment.

So, I've been writing and writing and writing and writing and writing.

I hope you guys are all kicking arse with your English.

I'm sure some of you have had a bit of a boost in motivation following the New Year.

I'm sure a lot of you have had, you know, that New Year's Resolution and have been working hard.

So, make sure you keep up with that, keep doing that, keep working hard,

keep learning English, keep challenging yourselves guys,

keep taking it to the next level, and keep...

keep giving yourselves things to work on that aren't necessarily easy, easy, easy.

So, always keep at that level of, "I'm not sure if I can do this",

but then prove that you can.

So, I guess today I wanted to chat to you a little bit about using your dead time wisely.

Using your dead time wisely.

And what do I mean by dead time?

Dead time in terms of at least what I'm thinking of and what I want to talk about is when you

have time during your day that you could do something else productive at the same time.

So, for instance, a great reason that I did, at least relatively well, all things considered,

in learning French and learning Portuguese while also living in Australia and not living

in these countries where these languages are spoken is because I spent a lot of time using

my dead time wisely.

So, any time I was walking somewhere I had the podcast in my ears.

I was listening to as much French, as much Portuguese as I could, and capitalising on

the fact that I could do two things at once.

So, if I was walking somewhere and I had the ability to listen to music or the ability

to listen to another podcast in English,

or even the ability to just not listen to anything but I had to walk,

or I had to sit on public transport,

or I was driving somewhere in a car,

or in a car being driven somewhere.

If I have this spare time where I could be doing two things at once,

and you guys'll probably remember the expression "To kill two birds with one stone"

I tried to capitalise on this, capitalise upon this as much as possible.

So, I would almost treat it like a strategy game personally.

So, what do I mean by this?

I think for a while I had a diary and every time I listened to an episode of Français Authentique,

which is the French podcast that I fell in love with,

I would mark down that episode and the time.

And I would write down how many episodes I listened to in a single day,

and/or how many minutes of French practice that was in a single day.

And each day I would try and beat it.

I would try and beat it.

So, I would try and use as much of my dead time as possible also learning a language.

And I feel like you guys who are probably already doing this to some degree can definitely

take things to the next level I'm sure with regards to listening to my podcast, listening

to any other kind of English learning podcast or resources.

Maybe you download a course.

Maybe you use YouTube videos.

It could be anything, but if you're walking somewhere and you have a lot of spare time

a really wise use of this spare time is obviously to practice something,

and in terms of learning languages, in terms of learning English, obviously, practicing

it with an English podcast is a really really good way to get bang for your buck.

So, to get your money's worth and to kill two birds with one stone.

So, anyway, back to what I was doing with this.

I was trying to up myself, I was trying to beat myself, I was trying to get more out

of each day as I went.

And so, I would tally up each day, I would write down how many episodes I'd listened to,

I'd write down how many minutes each episode was, and then tally that up, sum that up,

calculate the total at the bottom...

(There's a) plane going by.

...and then I would try and beat that every single day.

And it kind of turned it into a bit of a game.

And I am relatively competitive.

And so, I would just try and focus on beating yesterday's record today,

every day, every day, every day.

And as a result, I would listen to a lot, a heap of French.

I think one day my total was four hours of French podcasts.

And I think this was walking into work, which was like 40 minutes,

I had to do a bunch of lab work, which meant sitting at a desk doing repetitive tasks in the lab.

I used to have to pipette, which is like using this little sucky thing to pull up liquids

and put them into a different tube.

I had to do that for hours during one day.

And I spent all of that day listening to French podcasts.

And I'm sure that this was a big reason that my French listening comprehension got really good.

A good way too, I guess, is using these podcasts and shadowing the podcast during your dead time.

This's probably content for another episode, but also in... how do I say this?

Interacting with the podcast where you're actually forced to speak.

And that's why I put all of my exercises into the expression episodes and other episodes

at the end so that you guys have to interact with the podcast.

And so, you're not just listening passively, you're actively being involved in practicing

your English.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

How do you guys use your dead time?

Do you guys already use your dead time?

Do you use Aussie English in your dead time?

And, tell me about how many hours you could get out of a day.

How many hours do you think you could get out of a day using the dead time that you

have that you may not necessarily already be using well?

Anyway, guys, that's enough for this episode.

Put a comment below and tell me those things, and I'll chat to you next time.

Peace out. All the best!

This feels weird.

(Sarcastically) What? Coming in to work on time?

Shut up. No, I mean coming in to work this late at night.

Oh, I know, it's stupid.

I mean the flyer does say we cater to all kinds of event, but

I assumed birthdays at three-in-the-morning were excluded.

So, what are we looking at for numbers?

Hmm? Let's see...

30 vanilla cupcakes, 27 chocolate cupcakes, 16 glazed donuts, a bride wedding cake topper,

three bags of bread sticks, half a roast chicken, and

an angel food cake with the words "Happy 3rd Birthday!"

That is the weirdest order I think we've ever done.

Don't forget the custom bundt cake for that hipster's dog's funeral!

Ah! How could I forget? (Laughs)

Well, we might as well get started!

Connecting with People - And a Great Survival Tip! - Duration: 6:19.

Hi, I'm trying to be an end time survivor.

I'm going to listen, learn, and live.

My training is ultimately to trust and obey God

in order to survive the coming Great Tribulation.

So my "practical" advice comes in that context.

God can provide our material needs.

He just wants to see if we'll put him first,

not trusting any economic system, including our own.

We are looking for ways to be of service to others.

When we think we know how our material needs will be met,  that is when God will blow on it all, to make his point:

"Unless the Lord builds the house, they that build it are working in vain."

Nevertheless, this article tells about a useful tool God has given some of us.

At the moment it's helping us survive, but it also gets the message out about what is coming.

It's an interesting "tool" because it's almost impossible for others to copy it.

Because (a) it is embarrassing;

and (b) it doesn't provide the kind of income that a normal job would.

We call it "distributing".

It means producing (as professionally as we can) information like stuff on this channel.

This helps others on their spiritual journey.

We offer that material to the general public, asking for a small donation.

The donation can be as little as one or two of the smallest coins in that country.

We are prepared to give the material away for free.

But we often examine our motives to see if we still have that attitude.

Sadly, we learned that people often discard our literature if it's given for free.

Many of these people were only taking the literature to be polite.

That was not what we wanted.

But when we ask for a few cents, two encouraging things happen.

One is that people almost always cover the cost of the printing,

and the other is that they read what we have written.

At least they don't throw it away.

One tip: If a person is searching for a donation and can't find one,  that's a good time to offer the book for free.

If they were genuinely looking for a donation they'll probably read it.

We started with tiny 16-page booklets.

Eventually we distributed a million copies of the end time novel, Survivors.

It has 312 pages, and still we received enough in donations to pay for printing.

It also covered a few of our expenses at the end of the day.

If it's money you want to make, there are easier ways to get it.

But if you want to warn the world, doing it this way means your audience will help you survive at the same time.

The Bible says, "Those who preach the gospel can also live from it."

A note of caution:

What it takes to attract the general public is not what we say to each other.

Examine your target audience. Find some common ground.

From there, try to lead them closer to your understanding of the truth.

A novel, for example, can contain helpful information and still be a "good read".

It's kind of like the stories that Jesus told.

He said he used stories as a form of protection.

His enemies couldn't attack him for telling a story.

But sincere people would look deeper to see what he was really saying.

Other helpful ways to get the message out could include artwork.

Or you could do music, maybe writing your own lyrics.

You could busk, or make your own CDs and DVDs.

Better still, do both.

But don't forget that the bottom line is not to make money.

The bottom line is to get people to hear what you are saying.

If they help cover your costs, then that is a bonus.

If you have any comments add them in the space provided below.

And please subscribe to this channel so you can get the latest videos as they come out.

Meet Master of Sustainability graduate Matthew Kolisnyk - Duration: 1:19.

I studied the Master of Sustainability because I wanted to make the environment a better

place for the next generations.

The Master of Sustainability gave me a better understanding of the complexities of sustainability.

The level of teaching at the University of Sydney was extremely high.

The guest lecturers that were brought on board were at the top of their league.

The best aspect was the Capstone project.

I worked at WWF (World Wildlife Fund) where we looked at what commercial and non-commercial

organisations are doing to reduce food waste.

The results showed that while commercial organisations in Australia are addressing food waste in

a very progressive way, local councils are not.

We looked at ways we could possibly address that.

Following my Capstone project, I was offered a part-time consultancy position at WWF which was fantastic.

The Master of Sustainability opened up a world of opportunities for me.

I was put in a position to network with the right people at the right time.

At Good Environmental Choice Australia I'm a Standards and Technical Officer and there's

no way I'd be where I am today without the Master of Sustainability.

Working in sustainability is fulfilling – I learn every day from it and I think that's

a really important thing to have in your career.

I'm looking to use the skills I've learned overseas to make a more sustainable world.

Don't Get Fooled By Narcissistic Parents | COPS - Duration: 6:47.

Recently, my narcissistic mother must

have realized that she couldn't get any

more information out of my boyfriend's

parents. So instead of stopping, she took

things to a whole new level by having

the Sheriff's Department do what she

couldn't. She gives him Jason's parents

phone number... and nothing else.

Long story short, the Sheriff never told

Jason's parents that he was calling on

behalf of my mom.

His parents were caught off guard big

time. They immediately called me, to let

me know that the police were looking for

me and insisted i get ahold of the

Sheriff's Department from my hometown

ASAP!

I immediately knew my parents were to blame.

I mean after all, my dad has threatened

to have the cops track me down for

years now.

I was so MAD at my parents...

How ridiculous this is I'm... I'm in my

thirties, being forced to check in with

the Sheriff's Office.

My Covert narcissistic Mother

has to show me i am still

HER PROPERTY.

If I had to answer

to the cops, then I was going to tell

them the truth... about everything!

The following audio is my phone call to the Sheriff.

Hi this is B---- -----.

Hi B-----, how are you?

I'm good how are you?

Oh... I'm doing pretty good.

I'm getting ready to retire in December...

Wow, that's that's something to look forward to.

Yeah. Anyway, I just wanted to kind of

touch base with you...I don't

know exactly what's going on with my

parents or what they say to you or....

They aint said nothing to me..the only thing she said to me..

I haven't talked to (MY DAD). She called me the other day and said she hadn't heard from you in like

Two years.

Uhh huh.

Yeah like dropped

off the face of the earth. She said, "All I wanna know is

everything ok...if she's ok?"

Is that all she said is that she just wanted to

know that I was ok? Yeah, basically.

She'd like to hear from you..ya know.

She said she didn't want to get involved

in your life or stuff like that. She just said, "I want to hear from her."

Well, it's ...

They know they know that I'm okay, they know

that I don't want to talk to them.

My dad, he pretty much harassas me,

stalks me, my Mom too, you know.

There's all kinds of crazy things that...

everywhere that we've lived,

the landlord gets talked to, the neighbors

get talked to. They get old stuff

that's not true, and it causes problems

for us and they they say lies

about my boyfriend. They act like I'm

like I'm getting abused or like I'm

getting beaten... Things like crazy things

that aren't true or that Jason's a drug

dealer and he's moving drugs to K-----

-------- and that they're setting up

checkpoints and stuff and they're going

to catch me and that he's gonna... It's just

crazy, crazy stuff. I mean and that's why

I don't want them to know where I'm,

where I'm living or where I'm working or

anything like that. They know that I'm

okay. They just they want to know where I

am at so that they can continue

to do things like that and I don't

have to move again. Because everywhere

that we've lived, it's just crazy....

You might just pull out the phone

sometime and call her and say, "Hey everything's fine...

you're hearing from me right now."

You gotta understand from a Mother's point of view too...

Although I understand, it sounds like

they're trying to get in your life..

but THEY TOLD ME...or she actually told me, like I said I haven't talked to (MY DAD)

She said, " I don't care where she lives, I just would like to hear from her."

They know that I'm okay.

I don't know, i don't know... she

just playing an act.

Just...Well I'm not trying to cause any problems ya know...

They got a hold of me, and I said, "Well

I'll see what I can do, ya know"".

"...and we'll go from there." I mean you're not in trouble, they're not in no trouble.

You know.

Yeah, and all those messages that my Dad

is always leaving (me), saying stuff about

how he's gonna find me. And when he

finds me, he's never gonna lose me again.

it scares me.

There's just nowhere... I have to live in

fear pretty much thinking that any

moment they might find out where I'm

living and then continue to do things

that they do, talking to neighbors,

talking to the landlord, and going to my

work... or going to jasons work. It's just...

like I don'twant to have

to put a restraining order on him

or anything because that's...

Well I'm sure

there's...on both sides there ya know. I'd hate, if it is that way ya know...

but some times "It is what it is, ya know".

and it may not get any better.

The only thing she asked...was to hear your voice...

That's entirely up to you...

...She is your Mother.

That's kind of why with

Jason's parents, we we didn't want to

tell them where we live because we

didn't want to take that chance that my

Mom or my Dad might do something sneaky,

you know get some people to call them

and them tell (accidently) where

where we where we are or whatever... because,

they would tell.

I think they

know you're up around --------.

She just said she hadn't heard

from you for two years....

and I said, "I'll see what I can find out, ya know".

Okay.

And my dad always thought...

Do me a favor, if you want to, call her

and say, "Hey I'm fine." That's as far as it needs to go.

That's all I need.

Well okay, well alright well thank you

Can you do that?

Ok, I will.

Alright, well thank you.

Talk to you later.

Take care.
