Waching daily Jan 6 2018

decision we make in our lives as individuals or as organizations is a

piece of communication it's our way of saying something about who we are and

what we believe this is why authenticity matters this is why you have to say and

do the things you actually believe because the things you say and do are

symbols of who you are and we look for those symbols so we can find people who

believe what we believe our very survival depends on it

so if you're putting out false symbols you will attract people to those symbols

but you won't be able to form trust with them this is what Tiger Woods did to us

he lied he lied he told us what he thought we wanted to hear and it was

great and we were drawn to it and all of us who kind of liked that idea of that

sort of the good guy who were drawn to it until we found out it was a lie

he could have been the bad boy of golf he could have had all the same

endorsements and had a fantastic career and still been hailed as one of the

great athletes of our day but he didn't he chose to lie good luck forming trust

again tiger we don't believe you we don't trust you the goal of putting

something out there if you say what you believe and you do what you believe you

will attract people who believe what you believe if you go to one of your friends

and you say to one of your friends how would you like me to dress so that

you'll like me better how would you want me to address you how

do you want me to speak so that you'll like me more right your friends are

gonna look at you be like what are you talking about yeah come on come on come

on what should I wear so that you'll find me more appealing and how would you

like me to speak to you so that you'll like me more and your friends are gonna

tell you just be yourself that's why I like you I don't just be yourself now

think about what we do in industry what do we do we do market research and we go

out and we ask the customers what kind of things the way we what style should

we speak to you how should we decorate ourselves what kind of things are you

drawn to so that we can do those things so you'll like us more it's just as

ridiculous it's just as ridiculous organizations should say and do the

things they actually believe and they will attract people who believe

what they believe or they can choose to lie and at the slightest hint that they

might be lying cynicism sets in and people start saying I'm not sure I can

trust these guys because there's not a lot of consistency and all the things

they say and do which means they can't have a very strong belief set or they're

lying to me and we call them it authentic the entire process of asking

other people who we should be is inauthentic that's hilarious to me all

these positioning studies we do are inherent

we're going to do a study to find out from people so we can be more authentic

that's hilarious say and do what you actually believe and the symbols you put

out there the things you say and the things you do those red hats are ways

that people can find you what you have the ability to do as designers is create

those symbols and allow people to use those things to say something about who

they are work for companies work for clients work for people who you believe

what they believe show up and feel a part of something bigger than yourself

and your part is to put what they believe into pictures and words and

symbols and graphics so that other people can use those things to say

something about who they are people put harley-davidson logos on their body to

say something about who they are corporate logo ain't no Procter &

Gamble's tattooed on anybody's on because Harley means something they

stand for something people put that tattoo on their not to tell you that

they own a motorcycle they put that tattoo there to tell you

something about themselves do you ever see anybody with a with a Mac laptop put

a sticker over that beautiful shining Apple ain't never gonna happen then how

will you know who I am you ever seen anybody with a PC break out the Windex

to clean out their computer Mac people

have you ever seen a dirty Mac doesn't exist does not exist why because it's

Who I am these are symbols we use the companies

that are crystal clear in what they believe and their discipline and how

they do it they're consistent of what they do and everything they say and

everything they do serves as a symbol of the set of values and beliefs we use

those symbols to say something about who we are we surround ourselves with the

people and the products and the brands that say something about who we are and

when we can find the people who believe what we believe were weirdly drawn to

them because our very survival depends on it

we need it and so the more you can give of yourself the more you can give of

what you believe the more you can discipline with discipline saying

and do the things you actually believe strange things start to happen then

then another important factor is determination and you should not think

the city's development can take place within a few days or few years we must

understand you see that this development even may take years

so is there a determination if they consider as a Buddhist

and and want to really practice as a Buddha Dharma then right from the

beginning you must be see make up your mind or doesn't matter even may take

millions or billions of years doesn't matter

today the what's a day after all what is the

purpose of our life the meaning of existence nothing you realize something

positive then even you see days or month or years it is meaningful if you

really wasting our life purpose of life then even one day too long

so once you determined once you make up your mind some kind of firm

determination and clear and then time is not important so they like each other

differences well one of you see fair there's no long stays with me so long

sentient beings something remain I will be in order to serve there's a death

sentence really it gives me something to understand and also inspire so the

more for the visit of impatience and as I mentioned before you see they want

something the quickest on that's or something then I can reserve also

poorest at the cheapest method quickest cheapest method yourself with the

poorest so is it that I think is wrong so that I would like to share with you so

that's why is it I myself all recited to some

mantra oh it's just some visualization is a certain mandalas but mine in my

daily practice although my practice very poor very poor but even then see there

I'm my main emphasis on this form of truth and put the children and

Karuna so that really I feel this is something better than then through these

practices you will get something practical benefit realization big

deities sometimes I think the gt1 self almost almost is like the gt1 self

sealing once see one oneself so therefore I think we must be

subtractors step by step and with patience with the determination

once you involve or dedicated or determine practice then some improvement

you can see is a year-by-year decade by at least decade by decade then you can

see or at least some change some some improvement you can see once you once

you see that that also gives you gives you some kind of encouragement

so change you being a Mexican Mexican American overweight like you

know how do the jokes about me affect my audience which audience is with me which

audience is laughing at me did you have those feelings as well for a while not

that much already you're making anything way more than I thought about it in the

past and I think that was one of the keys to my success of my stand-up career

is that I tried not to overthink things and just try to go and have fun with it

and I think if the people see that you're having a good time then they're

gonna have a good time and if they see self-doubt then they're gonna have doubt

about laughing how did you get like management radio teachers to notice you

producers to notice you like cuz there's so many people doing the same thing and

it's tough but like how did you make yourself stand out I think it all starts

from you first of all being ready to sacrifice things like I'm ready to be

broke for a while I'm ready to you know have arguments with people because they

think I'm making the wrong choice you got first of all like make that decision

with yourself being like okay no I'm actually gonna do this and then once you

do do it you know it's the consistency like show up to the studio every single

day even though you're not supposed to keep like wake up every single day go

studio studio studios to just like that that's all you should be doing working

with people that like you don't care that I just make music finding beats

online that you know you right on top off you know what I'm saying like

putting things online taking people's attentions from a bar like I know you

might be in a bar with seven people I used to perform in a pub of four

regulars I would never even turn around they

didn't turn around know the feeling then oh yeah well what I'm saying is it's the

consistency of you you have to just always be seen everywhere show your face

absolutely everywhere oh it's that girl it's slowly but surely people will start

remembering the face

Instagram Hacks: The Algorithm Explained + Cool tools for 2018 - Duration: 6:53.

Do you have any guess why the posts in the top of your instagram feed

are actually there?

I'm sorry to make you think about that. Truth is nobody can actually know the answer.

That's because what decides the order of the posts is an Algorithm

and as all the algorithms in the internet they are pretty much very, like very secret

actually machine learning is making the algorithms so

complex that, maybe, not even its creators completely understand what is the decision criteria

However,

the basic elements of the algorithm, especially

instagram algorithms, are known. And if you are trying to rank in the top of your follower's feed,

knowing these basics can definitely help.

Since 2016 Instagram does not rank its feed following a chronological order.

After the changes,

Instagram now ranks posts based on what it judges to be more relevant to the users

Relevance measures the probability of post to be liked, commented, shared, or, in other words, to receive

interactions from its viewer the overall objective of the algorithm is to keep the user using the platform

So, it will prize a post with a higher ranking if that post has the "ability" of engaging a user

And it will penalize with the lower ranking if a post is skipped too often or if the user simply quit

Instagram when they see that post.

Every algorithm is operated by a robot also called a bot

and its operation is kind of super complex because it involves a mathematical model,

plugged into a super powerful computer,

Programmed to run into a machine learning framework

So, nobody can say that "knows" how the algorithm works or can teach you how to "beat" the algorithm

You're not going to beat anything, i'm sorry

However, Instagram has released some of the guidelines that are actually rules their algorithm, and,

something that we do know is that the algorithm's major function is to gather data from the user actions

and make decisions based on that data

So, when an user likes a post from a particular profile it's telling the algorithm that, maybe, I want

to see more about that.

And the algorithm is understanding that that kind of post might receive some more

interactions from that particular user in the future.

The result, is that the post from that profile is going to rank higher in the feed of that user

The idea here is to show, to the user what they want to see,

instead of what being posed in the last hour.

This is why it's so

important for your pictures to get likes. And to get likes, your pictures have to be amazing

and to get amazing pictures you need to buy a $10,000 camera

and hire a professional to get the pictures for you.

Just kidding.

There are some free features out there like VSCOcam to add filters without losing naturality

Snapseed to colorize your

environments, and Over to add texts with more personality

They, also say that the newsfeed rank is not based on a popularity contest but,

if you click a post on the top you usually

has tons of likes!

To solve this, you can run a contest yourself. Just create a post asking for likes comments and shares and

offer a prize to the winner. There are also free tools to do this. The bests are Woobox that offers several

contest options and Wishpond that allows you to track

hashtags within the contest. There is actually another way to gain engagement which is

to create or to join a "Pod". Well a Pod is a group of collaborators that agree to like each other's post

so they can increase their rankings this is not very much well seen in the web community

because this practice is pretty much like pure spamming.

But, if you want, you can find Pods looking into Facebook groups, Reddit or

just, Google it for more information.

These two methods are still effective but, Facebook might ban them soon

and, if Facebook does, Instagram might follow.

Because, Facebook owns Instagram just in case you don't know this by now.

There is actually more acceptable way to rank high and it's using the best hashtags you can

to do that try to use

Display Purposes in your desktop or

download Focalmark in your phone. These tools will give you suggested hashtags based on your search

Now, although doesn't rank posts by arriving order the algorithm do penalizes

inactive profiles. If a profile is not posting much is less likely to gain engagement and thus,

less capable to keep the users on board and thus, less valuable to the algorithm objective

Timing will be especially important when you were going live. If your followers are not online

they won't be able to see your life story. Because live stories is a product feature

Instagram will actually help you to find if your followers are online

but do you have to switch to the business profile

so you can get access to the Insights

On the session Followers you can see the day and time when most of your followers are online and

You can go back to the personal profile at any time and you should do it

otherwise Instagram might start treating you like a business

The algorithm will also track the searches and the time spent watching your video so if your post more

Stories the time spent in your profile will increase

now you just have to make sure people don't skip your Story

so try to use Canva to add some nice features into your Story and

Storyo to cut big videos into small Stories. Now if you are going to pay for promotion try to post a Sandwich

Well, to make a Sandwich make a highly engaging post, then follow that with the promoted post

then follow that with another highly engaging post. The likes you'll get in the free post will actually

leverage the promoted post to reach even more people.

This is actually the easiest way to increase the ROI for each promoted post.

Well, this is it!

It's kind of obvious that you have to post good pictures and get lots of likes to get a higher ranking,

but,

Now you know why.

I hope this video help you to get a better ranking on Instagram.

I would love to answer your questions and listen to your suggestions in the comments.

And follow us at Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and

Instagram to keep tuned.

See you the next time!

What is the coolest obscure historical fact you know_history - Duration: 2:27.

What is the coolest obscure historical fact you know_history

Death so horrible that it stopped a form of execution. In Ancient China, there was a form of execution called waist chop. Just like its name, it entails a person being literally chopped in half from the waist.

It was reserved only for the most serious criminals since many people did not die immediately after being chopped.

In Qing Dynasty, an official was caught embezzling money, and was sentenced to waist chop. However, he stayed alive long enough to write, using his blood, the Chinese character '慘' (horrific/brutal) 7 times before finally dying.

Upon hearing this story, the Yongzheng Emperor was shocked and abolished the form of execution.

In his will, Benjamin Franklin, who died in 1790 left much of his estate to the cities of Boston and Philadelphia to establish a pair of revolving seed funds to help young entrepreneurs start businesses.

The funds were to continue accruing interest, and at the 100 and 200 year marks were to be distributed to the commonwealths for the benefit of society, and in particular young workers.

The last of the Philadelphia funds were distributed in 1993 to the Franklin Institute (which was funded in 1893 from the first distribution) to provide scholarships to deserving young people, and the Boston funds were eventually used to establish the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, training Boston's young people for careers in technical fields.

Both programs are still in existence, and both to this day are still expending the fruits of Franklin's gifts!.

Preview.

The Bison's five-year national title run was ended last season with a 27-17 loss in the semifinals to James Madison, who went on to win the national championship and have now piled up 26 wins in a row overall, with just five of those games being decided by one possession.

But while the Dukes have established themselves as the No.

1 team in the land, North Dakota State hasn't fallen far behind, as they enter this one 13-1 and ranked No.

2 overall.

Unlike their FBS counterparts, there's no debate about the championship.

These are two best teams, and no one else deserves a spot in Frisco more.

That was made painfully clear during the semifinals when both teams absolutely throttled their high-powered opponents.

James Madison took down South Dakota State by a score of 51-16, while North Dakota State squeaked by Sam Houston State, 55-13.

Both of those games were microcosms of what each of these championship squads are all about: Establishing the run and dominating on defense.

In the Dukes' win, Marcus Marshall racked up 203 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 carries (interestingly enough, QB Bryan Schor also threw for exactly 203 yards and two scores–how's that for balance?), while the defense forced an unfathomable 10 turnovers to contain a Jacks team that was averaging 38.8 points per game prior to that contest.

And on the other side of the bracket, it was more of the same.

Led by Seth Wilson and Bruce Anderson, who each surpassed 180 yards on the ground, the Bison put up a ridiculous 471 total rushing yards and four touchdowns on 48 carries, and the defense held Sam Houston State to 32 points below their season scoring average.

"They believe in the system," North Dakota State coach Chris Klieman said about his players.

"They believe in each other.

We've had a lot of former guys that have come back and talked to the guys about doing it for the guy next to you and doing it for the guys that have put the jersey on before you.

That's hard to find in college football these days, is sustained success for that long a period of time.".

Put it all together and you have an anticipated rematch between two dominant powerhouses who both player similar styles of smash-mouth football.

And you have a national championship on the line.

There's lot of good football on over the next couple of days, but it's going to be hard to top this–no matter the size of the schools involved.

What do you eat when you have nothing to eat? - Duration: 4:24.

What do you eat when you have nothing to eat?

I am on disability. I get paid once a month. I also get $16 in food stamps on the 10th of the month. After taking out whats needed for rent and bills, I go shopping for food and non-food items.

Among my purchases I always get ramen, rice, various soups, peanut butter, tortillas, flour, and butter. I also have baking soda and powder and yeast, and various sauces that I replenish as needed.

I rarely get to no food, but that is because growing up it was regular occurrence that we went without, or were down to hot dogs and macaroni the days before my dad got paid.

I have learned to be frugal, know where I can get a free meal, how to double my money with coupons and apps.

But if needed I will go a day or more between meals. I know its coming so I can get through the time of little or no food. Edit: replies to some of the comments.

I clip coupons and use apps to stretch my budget.

As I said I rarely get to no food, though at the end of the month I rely on things like ramen, and instant soup adding dried or frozen veggies and making my own seasoning rather than the high sodium packets included.

I also bake so if I need bread I can make it. I dont have a car, I lost a leg due to diabetes, and I am over a mile from the bus.

I get rides from my kids and their grandmother when I need to.

My situation is looking up in that I just got a roommate to share costs, and plan on getting a car soon.

I looked into food banks when I lived in town and could make it to the bus to get there. When I get a car I will again. I have it better than some, and usually have enough to splurge at times.

The splurge could be getting something thats on sale, or lunch or dinner with one of my kids.

I was homeless at age 19 and I have gone hungry more days than I wish to recall. I am fortunate to belong to a church so I have a few options:.

Every Sunday ( today included) there's a potluck lunch after church- no, there's no fee, nor are you required to bring something.

And there's ALWAYS leftover food! I am always urged to take food home, so that means I have a free meal I can count on for the next day, if I just drink liquids until Monday morning.

I could fall back on my wild food foraging skills- I spotted a patch of Rhubarb growing at the edge of the treeline in the field next door, also acres of Dandelions all over the place.

A neighbor nearby has a huge patch of scallions , don't think he'd miss a hand full. Also, I could make fragrant tea from apple or cherry blossoms.

Definition of a Hustle - Duration: 2:59.

how do you define a hustle urban dictionary defines hustle as to have the

courage confidence self belief and self determination to go out there and work

it out until you find the opportunities you want in life let me tell you a story

what the word hustle means to me only select few knew these details before so

welcome to the club a hustle for me was to move halfway across the world to a

country where I knew no one but I had a dream to get the graduate degree

start a new career and build a new life hustle was working out of the basement

of one of the local startups for twelve hundred dollars a month well at least it

was more than zero or a salary of a TA at the grad school and driving every

weekend back to New York for six hours to see my girlfriend it was moving to

New York City to pursue better opportunities without anything lined up

and what happened when over and over again

I couldn't land a job did I give up no I woke up one day and I said I will get a

job even if it means standing in the middle of the street with a sign hire me

you don't think I was serious I created these Flyers added information

about myself and even created a QR code that if scanned would lead you straight

to my LinkedIn page and I took these flyers to the street and I stood on the

corner of the Wall Street and on Park Avenue in Midtown and gave them to anyone who

looks remotely like they're working at some big corporation my story continues

to the corner of 27th and 7th where I work at a private equity company for $1,000

a month moved to the higher-cost area and got paid less but it didn't matter

as long as my transportation costs were covered I will still keep coming back to

the city I still had my eyes on the prize I had to skip watches because I

simply could not afford them and when I would feel really hungry I'd go to

2 Bros pizza for a dollar slice I was focused there was no turning back I dug

my heels and grabbed this city by the and kept pushing did I complain no to

this day people around the world to face worse circumstances yet they continue to

persevere as compared to them I have no right to complain and neither

do you. No matter how tough it gets you keep hustling I think you should always

retain that mindset of the person in the streets with the Flyers you're always

one flyer with one handshake one phone call song video away from your dream

finally over three years into this story I got a break I got a job that was

everything I was looking for especially while paying enough to be able to say

thank you to the true hustler behind me who stood with her man through everything

and Here I am with a good-paying job a wife a kid in a house of my own do you

think it was time to celebrate no there is no time to celebrate the taste of

victory is not the taste of champagne and caviar it's a taste of a dollar a slice

pizza that you grab on your way to another meeting as you push towards

another goal because once you hit the prior goal

don't stop find another dream find another goal draw a new bull's eye and

keep pushing forward. some of you might call it a rat race but this is how I define

my hustle so tell me what is your definition of a hustle

What is the cheapest and fastest meal you can prepare? - Duration: 4:00.

What is the cheapest and fastest meal you can prepare?

To serve one, this meal costs approximately $1 and takes under 20 minutes.

But if—IF—you cook it right, it tastes like a $25 dish at an Italian restaurant: it's Cacio e Pepe, my friends! Take a look at this steaming, carbalicious thing of beauty:.

Consisting of little more than spaghetti, grated cheese (traditionally Pecorino Romano, though I prefer Parmesan to be honest), and lots of black pepper, this comes together in a hurry but is quite revelatory.

However, if you make it wrong, it turns into a clumpy, salty mess.  Here are the keys to nailing this classic recipe:.

Toast that black pepper! In a little high-quality extra-virgin olive oil. Activates some subtle flavor notes you won't get by just dumping it on at the end.

Salt that water, y'all. You don't have to go overboard, but give it a good amount, enough that the water TASTES salty.

You always want the noodles to be seasoned so you're not making the sauce do all the work. (Pro tip: wait until the water is boiling before adding salt, or it could cause pitting in your stainless steel.) UNDERCOOK your spaghetti. That's right.

When you pull the noodles out, they should be LESS THAN al dente. Our chef (Tony Mantuano of the world-famous Spiaggia restaurant in Chicago) says to cook it 3 minutes less than the box advises.

I'll explain why in a minute. When you're draining the pasta, pour the hot water into your serving dishes. This is a little thing I do to warm the bowls! Just like at a restaurant.

Keep the water in there until just before you serve.

Use hot, starchy pasta water for the marriage ceremony. When you combine all the ingredients, your grated cheese is going to want to clump up and get grainy, when what YOU want is a rich, creamy, smooth coating of cheese sauce on each noodle.

So you combine everything with starchy hot pasta water, which will help the cheese emulsify and cling to each strand—and this is also when the noodles finish cooking to reach their perfect al dente state.

This means spending a little time stirring everything like crazy (but to get it just right, you should watch the video):.

Dish it out into your pre-warmed bowls and you're ready to sit down to one of the best cheap eats around. So, I love this dish. It's restaurant-quality, but anyone can make it at home with just a few ingredients.
