SKINCARE Q&A | How To Get Rid of Blackheads, Alcohol Bad For Our Skin?! - Duration: 7:47.

Hi guys!! I'm Moli

I'm gonna make video about skincare Q&A today

I always get questions about skincare from you

Via DM, email, or Instagram live

I'm always questioned about how to reduce blackheads or minimise pores

Honestly, i couldn't answer your questions at that time

Because, i'm not specialised in skin issued

I never learn about skins issue and I'm not a dermatologist

Actually, i really want to help you but i myself don't know the answer

And the causes

So i couldn't help at that time

But today, i'm collaborating with The Pond's Institute

Or make it short, TPI

I had a chance to talk about skin issues and skin cares with them last time

Because they're specialised or expert in skin issues

They understand all about the skin issues because they're the experts

I had a video call with 4 experts from TPI

We talked via video call as they're in other countries

Do you remember that i told you to comment on one of my photos

To put a question about skin cares or skin issues

I had chosen 4 questions that people ask the most and are most interesting

And i asked to the TPI experts

So i'm gonna answer the first question, which is

Should those who have oily skins apply moisturiser?

The answer is yes, right.

Because the oily skins really need a moisturiser

Because when there's a lack of moisturiser on the skins

It'll trigger a production of sebum or excess of oiliness on the skin

Which will make the skin to be more oily or worse

So the keys are look for a moisturiser that is waterbased and light

And oil-free that doesn't clog the pores

The second is question is

How to minimise the pores on the skin

This is actually one of my questions too

Because the pores on my nose area are more visible or

This is their answer

There are 3 factors that make the pores visible or larger

The first one is dead skin

The dead skin that has been mixed with the dirts

And the production of sebum on our skins

So the pores are clogged

And that makes the pores are more visible

The second factor is dry skin

Dry skin usually makes the skin to be rough

And that makes the pores to be more visible too

The third factor is saggy and aging skin

That is a skin that is loose or aging

Do you know that if we're above 25 years old

Our skins are weaker to fight against the skin enemies?

So as our skin lose the collagen or elasticity on the skin

If you don't know what are the skin enemies

I have made a video about that and you can watch it

I have put a link on the top and you can click on it

So, if our skins are weak, it'll cause more problems on the pores area

That's why our pores are more visible as when we're aging

Take babies as an example, they don't have pores

And the elderly has larger pores

So that is one of the factors

So those are the causes

Now I'm gonna tell you how to prevent the large pores

Or how to minimise the skin pores

The first thing is we have clean our faces

Which is washing the face at least twice a day

Especially when we're at outside for the whole day

Even though we don't put makeup on, we have to wash our faces

Because the dirts stick on the skin and pores

So if we don't clean our faces, definitely the skin is dirty

In the end, the pores are clogged and result in larger pores

The second thing is to apply a moisturiser that contains oil control

And vitamin B3

That's able to smoothen the skin

Reduce the production of sebum or oil on the skin as well

So those are the answers for minimising the pores

IThe third question is

Is alcohol in skin cares safe for the skin?

Because we always heard that alcohol isn't good for skins

However, about 90% of skin cares contain alcohol

This is one of those that i've been wondering

I also asked this question to them

The answer is the alcohol is safe for normal skin

Or if our skins are normal, the alcohol is safe for us

Because its functions are to kill the bacteria and minimise the pores as well

But, if your skins are sensitive

It's better to not use the skin cares that contains more of alcohol

The way to know whether it has a higher level of alcohol or not

Take your skin cares and look for the first 3 ingredients

Because most of skin cares contain more of the first 3 ingredients

If the first 3 ingredients are alcohol

That means the product contains a high level of alcohol

So it's better to not use that product if you have a sensitive skin

Because a high level of alcohol can damage the skin barrier

Or the layers of the skins

So it'll make our skin to be susceptible to bacteria or dirts

So they recommend to use Ponds moisturiser

That contains vitamin B3 plus technology to protect the layers of our skins

The forth question is to get rid of blackhead or whitehead

Or how to prevent

The first thing is wash the face twice a day

At least twice a day

Using the skin cares that are suitable for our skin types

They also recommend to use a face cleanser that contains a composition of anti acne

Because that composition can unclog the pores

They're able to cleanse the clogged pores

And prevent growth of bacteria on the skin

The second thing is to exfoliate the skin 2 to 3 times a week

Exfoliating is like using the scrub on our skins

And for scrub, try to use a softer scrub

Because we can renew the skin cells through the scrub

Which makes our skin to be smoother

Softer, smoother and healthier

The third is

It"s a need to use moisturiser even though you have an oily or combination skin

Choose a moisturiser that contains acne cares

They recommend Ponds Acne Solution Gel that contains Thymo-T

It can prevent bacteria on the skin and blackhead as well

Which trigger to pimples

It also has vitamin B3 that are able to speed up the changes of dead skin

And prevent the clogged pores

So those are the questions that i asked to them

And these are the answers

Hope that through this video, our knowledge about skin care and issues are better

So that we know how to take care of our own skins

Those answers are from TPI

These are not random answers or only logically answered

These are based on their research for years

And i personally also learn a lot of things through the interview session

Actually there are still a lot of answers for other questions

So if you still have a question that i didn't answer in this video

Please comment on below and i'll give the answers from them on the description box

Overhaul of Indian Army is good, now also integrate the three services - Duration: 2:53.

The recently-concluded Doklam standoff is a stern warning of the importance of a credible

military capacity.

One of the continuing problems in the Indian military is the excessive number of civilian

personnel in its ranks.

This means that despite the impressive statistic of having a million plus military, less than

half are actually combat personnel.

The Narendra Modi government has reportedly ordered the implementation of many of the

recommendations of the Shekatkar committee which seeks to redress this problem.

If properly implemented, it would result in India adding an additional three divisions

without having to increase the number of overall personnel.

The Indian military's 'tooth-to-tail' ratio stands today at about one soldier to

1.15 civilians, when the number should preferably be reversed.

Even using more refined measures doesn't help the country's ranking.

A McKinsey study, using 2008 data from the Institute of International Strategic Studies,

showed that in a country like Israel the combat plus combat support component of the military

was 44%.

Relatively, pacific Japan scored 40% while China had a figure of 34%.

India, however, came in at a lowly 25%.

The expectation is that technological and infrastructure improvements will mean a more

streamlined communications and transport system.

Similar recommendations have been made over the decades.

The Krishna Rao committee was able to abolish stretcher-bearers and animal transport units

in the 1980s.

But the real reforms required are still being avoided by the government.

The most important is the integration of the three services.

For example, the army, air force and navy wastefully have their own separate logistics

networks which results in considerable redundancy and even more waste.

Tri-service integration and the creation of theatre commands remains a bridge too far

it seems even though it would arguably do more to enhance India's combat readiness

than almost any other policy change.

At least the military will have a powerful incentive to do its best to implement the

changes.

The number of personnel has been effectively capped and the services recognise that whatever

is saved in terms of expenditure will be used to purchase capital equipment – guns, airplanes

and ships that remain the brass' number one demand.

Military reforms are among the most difficult to carry out because of the sensitivities

concerned and the web of vested interests that will oppose change in any form.

Given their importance to national security, however, the government would do well to put

the Shekatkar recommendations on the fast lane.

Jill_What Keeps You Awake At Night? - Duration: 4:30.

Most of the time I'm positive. I see the beauty in my daily life. I hear the sea.

I watch the ebb and flow of the tide. The contours of the waves. The rush towards

the beach. But in the darkness I'm vulnerable and I slide towards despair.

What keeps me awake at night is the thought of my death. How much time do I

have? How fast is my cancer growing? How will I

feel when I'm so near to the last breath? I have not made cancer my enemy. I'm not

fighting it, I want no war in my body. I'm a pacifist.

I am living with cancer not doing battle with it. Sometimes in the darkness I

talk to it. I ask it to give me some more time with the people I love. Facing the

fear makes me stronger to face another day of uncertainty. I'm no heroine.

I'm really scared. Scared of the uncertainty. Slowly becoming less of the

woman I once was. I remember the words of a long ago play, Timebomb. 'Don't let

them say I was brave. Tell them I was scared. Don't let them say I lost the

fight.

That would make me feel like a failure.' There has been no fight to lose. I'm just

another woman somewhere in the world trying to prepare herself for death, and

in the midst of all that, I really value each beautiful day of survival. We don't

talk about death do we in this society? We just don't. Death is something we

absolutely avoid, like the plague. And it seems crazy because we talk about everything

else but we do not have acknowledge death. It's

almost like, you can't believe it's gonna happen, and yet it's the one thing that happens to

everybody. I don't want to be buried, I really don't want to be buried. You know it's

sort of, I think about being buried is there's somewhere for people to go and

it's like it sometimes it's quite a chore to, the upkeep of a grave, visiting a

grave and you should be able to remember people by just going to the places they

went. You know all sorts of things remind you of people. The smell of geraniums reminds

me of my father.

Sometimes I just find a place where I don't see any flowers at all, I could be

walking on the street and I suddenly smell geraniums and I think

oh, that's my dad.

Maybe his close right now.

Psychology at Staffordshire University: Connect to your future - Duration: 3:27.

At The Connected University we're connecting great minds to great opportunities,

students to industry and you to a future in Psychology.

Psychology is a fascinating varied subject. It's very useful for a variety of

different careers, you learn transferrable skills that will be valued

by a variety of employers.

The main reason I came to Staffs University to study Psychology

was because of the facilities that they offer.

Staffs equipment is some of the best,

so in our level you learn about EEG machines, eye tracking studies

and Staffs have got it all here.

We are sat here today in a purpose-built,

30 million pound Science Centre, we've got a wide variety of facilities that is

housed in this building.

We've got cognitive cubicles and cognitive labs

that students can use to carry out their own experiments because we really want them

to be hands-on in terms of their research.

So once our students leave and

graduate from our courses they have gained those necessary skills on

industry standard equipment and software that can see them then go on and do

research up and down the country within environments that are psychology-based.

Our satisfaction scores are always very high, they're among the best in the country.

Our students are very satisfied with what we do,

particularly with the quality of the teaching

that tends to come out very highly in the scores.

All of our undergraduate courses are accredited by the

British Psychological Society, so students can go on and pursue

postgraduate training following completion of the courses.

We have two fantastic psychology technicians who have been nationally recognised for their work,

so we're very proud of those achievements.

Within the psychology department it's a very close team and I think

we really value the student input with the courses that we run.

All of our staff are research active,

so they're currently engaging in research work, or their practitioners particularly

for our counseling staff, so they are actually engaging in that real-world work themselves,

so they can bring their material to life in their lectures

We've got people who are cognitive psychologists,

people who are social psychologists, people looking into criminology

and health psychologists looking at all sorts of aspects

of health psychology and we've got clinical psychologists as well.

They are all connected with the staff and with each other whether they going to masters

or work or PhDs, we really want them to be able to apply the knowledge that they've gained.

We do work with a wide range of organisations, for example the police the

NHS and wider health services but also the local City Council, we've got really

good links with some of the departments in our City Council

The support from the lecturers and staff here is probably one of the biggest

factors why I think I've done so well at the University. I feel as though I'm now

fully prepared to go out into my postgraduate degree and even so could

even feel like I could go straight into a job and get working. That's something

that they prepared me for really well.

Psychology might be for you if you're

curious and daring and want to challenge the different theoretical concepts that

are currently available.

Because it's all about dealing with people, you can

literally go on to do anything.

The future of Education is here, connecting

learning to experience and industry. Our state-of-the-art facilities are waiting

for you. Staffordshire University - The Connected University.

Should I Stay or Should I Go? House Cleaner Confusion - Duration: 4:09.

Hi there, I'm Angela Brown, and this is Ask A House Cleaner.

This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question,

and I get to help you find an answer.

Now, today's question comes from Kathy, and she's headed over to Mrs. Randall's house

with a confirmed appointment to clean her house.

When she gets there, Mrs. Randall's car is in the driveway,

and Mrs. Randall is at home asleep.

Kathy wants to know, "Do I stay and clean the house, and just try to be very quiet,

and not run my vacuum until the very last, or do I just leave,

or do I reschedule the appointment?

This is really weird, and this has never happened to me before.

What am I supposed to do?"

All right, well Kathy, you confirmed 24 hours in advance, you do have a confirmed appointment,

Mrs. Randall is expecting you. And so whatever may have happened at the last minute, comes

down to your cancellation policy.

If you charge full price for a last minute cancellation, Mrs. Randall may not have called

you, because she still wants her house cleaned.

But if she's at home sick, that's something else that needs to be taken into consideration.

What do you do in this scenario?

There's only one thing you can do, you're a house cleaner,

and your job is to clean houses.

That's what you're there to do, that's what you're being paid to do.

You're not being paid to read people's minds, you're not being paid to guess what's going

on in Mrs. Randall's life, not your responsibility.

Pick up the phone and call her.

Most people keep their cell phones within reach of their bed,

so they can receive texts or phone calls.

So you can call Mrs. Randall and say,

"Hey, Mrs. Randall, I'm here at your house.

I noticed that your car is in the driveway, and it seems like you're upstairs asleep.

Did you miss your alarm, or are you staying at home today?

Do you want me to just skip your cleaning today?

It will still be a full charge, and I don't have any other rescheduling options.

You'll just have to skip it if you want to sleep through,

but I wanted to give you the courtesy."

Then she has a choice.

She can say, "You know what, I got a hangover, my head hurts really bad,

the vacuum's going to kill me.

Please go away.

That's fine, I'll pay you the money, whatever."

Or she can say, "No, in fact, I'm just catching up on a couple of hours of sleep.

If you want to work downstairs that's fine, the vacuum won't bother me, I have earplugs."

She can convey that information to you, and then she can also let you know,

"Skip the master bedroom and the master bath today, I got it covered," or, "It's not a big deal,"

or, "I want to sleep through."

She's going to give you that information.

It's not your job to second guess, and it's not your job to just randomly go away.

Because if she's expecting you to clean the house, you can still clean all the rest of the house,

and not clean the room that she's in.

Or by the time you get to the room she's in,

she'll be up and about, and she can move to another room while you then do that room.

It might throw you off schedule a little bit, you may have to restructure your pattern of

cleaning her house, but if you let her know that you're there,

she knows you're there on time.

And if you let her know that you're concerned, either way,

you're concerned, you're the concerned house cleaner.

Then she can direct you what to do next.

Don't second guess, and don't take it on yourself just to leave, because you have no idea what's

actually going on in there.

It could be that there's something really weird going on, that maybe she's had a stroke

or something, and so maybe she needs you to call 911.

I mean, you have no idea.

Don't make assumptions, because that's not your job.

Just give her a call and find out, and if she does not answer her phone, if the phone

is on cell phone mode, or it's on ... what is it?

Airplane mode, I would knock on her door.

I would get her attention, and just say, "Hey, what's up?

Just wanted to check in on you and make sure you're okay, because this that you're here

at the house, is really out of the ordinary.

This is not the norm, I just want to make sure you're okay."

Then take your cues from her.

Alrighty, so that's my two cents.

Until we meet again,

leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it.

Film and Media at Staffordshire University: Connect to your future - Duration: 3:18.

At The Connected University, we're connecting great minds to great

opportunities, students to industry and you to a future in film and media.

Staffordshire University is one of the leading places within the UK to come and study film and

media. That's recognised by the course accreditations through skill set

and BKSTS as well as the breadth and depth of courses that you can come and

study here. Across the university I think there's a wide range of courses that cover the

theoretical, the practical and the technical side and aspects of film making, which I think is amazing.

The Cadman studios, 11 a half million pounds that we are sitting in

now. Fantastic investment for the students everything we see in here

equipment wise is something they will use when they graduate and get a job

working for someone like Sky, The BBC, QVC, we have contracts with.

All of the technologies such as the cameras and lights and sound equipment are what are used

out in the industry and it's really good to get hands-on with it all to get a feel for it.

I think it's very important that the students learn from someone who is in

the industry like myself I work for ITV Sport, I film things such as British

Touring Cars, World Superbikes and doing those kind of events is a very sort of

time critical thing you're live, you're on the air knowing how that works and

bringing that into my teaching it's really good for the students because

they learn from someone who's actually done it in the real world. We make them

do everything from organising to directing to shooting to sound and we

give them experience in all of those roles as well as communication skills

and the organisational skills they'll need when they leave to be a freelancer or

to be a full-time member of staff somewhere. Our academics here have great

industry contacts, we've helped students gain work experience at places like

Disney and also working on films such as The Dark Knight and Star Wars. We've got

great connections with companies in London such as Envy Post

Production also with companies that make documentaries in Manchester with film

production companies down in London and we want our students to get out and

experience that and experience the industry and bring that knowledge back into their

studies. We've come out with films that have a few of us have already been asked

to send them off for festivals so within the sixth week of our course we were

already making festival ready films. Because there are so many successful

Staffordshire University graduates there's a huge network of people who can come back

and you know look for people on work experience or look for people to hire

and because they know that Staffordshire University create amazing graduates it

just makes sense you know we know the ethos of the university we know how

well they're trained and that just means it's like this amazing pool of graduates

which is going to be amazing and they come back for that reason. The future of

education is here. Connecting learning to experience and industry. Our

6 K-Pop Idols You Never Knew Aren't Full Korean

A few years ago it was very scarce that you would see an idol that was half Korean but as the industry becomes more globalized, these diverse idols are becoming more and more popular.

Somis mixed heritage reaches across the globe.  Her Dutch-Canadian father and South Korean mother emigrated to South Korea when she was only a year old.

Although she is not a shy person, Somi has admitted that she experienced being bullied as a result of her mixed heritage.

SEVENTEENs Vernon was born in New York to an American mother and a Korean father who seem to support his career.

Vernon has also confessed that he experienced discrimination as a result of his heritage, both when he lived in America and in Korea. . Kangnam (Formerly of M.I.B).

Kangnams heritage falls a little closer to home than many others on this list as his mother is Korean and his father, Japanese.

Although Kangnam was born in Japan, he lived in Hawaii and eventually moved to South Korea in pursuit of a singing career. Kangnam admitted that he was bullied in school, but that seems to be all behind him now.

Beautiful Yoon Mirae was born in America, but her African-American father and Korean mother raised her in South Korea.

She frequently mentions how her ambiguous racial features have resulted in her feeling like she doesnt fit into any standard—American or Korean. As a result, she claims to have been discriminated against and experienced countless stares.

Apink member Hayoung also comes from a mixed heritage as her grandmother is Filipino. She was born in South Korea and is a talented singer and an actress who has achieved fame for her talent in Apink.

Dok2. Dok2 is a rapper who has experienced fame in the music industry with his clever lyrics and perfect execution. Dok2 is also of mixed descent.

His nationality is a mixture of Filipino, Spanish, and South Korean. Dok2s mother is South Korean, and his father is both Filipino and Spanish.

Why Introverts Struggle to Speak Up - The Science Explains - Duration: 7:06.

Why Introverts Struggle to Speak Up - The Science Explains

As an introvert, speak up your mind could be really hard, as if your brain is not cooperating

with you.

Resulting an inability to say the words that you are supposed to say.

In the end, you close yourself and choose not to say anything because you afraid to

say words incorrectly.

If you ever feel like this, then you're not alone.

Being unable to translate your thoughts into words, especially under pressure, is a common

introvert problem.

Here's the scientific reason why it can be so hard.

Why Introverts Struggle With Word Retrieval

Trying to think of exactly the right words to say is called "word retrieval."

And this can be hard for introverts.

In social situations, this may translate to us not being able to keep up with fast-talking

extroverts.

At work, we may come off sounding like we don't know what we're talking about, even

when we do.

In the classroom, we may shrink from raising our hand, because we know it will be hard

to put our thoughts into words while our classmates stare at us.

One reason word retrieval can be difficult for introverts is we process information deeply.

We chew on ideas, turning them over and over in our minds, analyzing them from every angle.

When you reflect on something, even something as simple as, What should I have for dinner?,

it's hard to talk.

Introverts don't think out loud like many extroverts do.

We do our processing inwardly.

Another reason has to do with long-term memory, writes Dr. Marti Olsen Laney in The Introvert

Advantage.

Information stored in long-term memory is mostly outside of our conscious awareness.

Like the name sounds, long-term memory contains information that is retained for long periods

of time; in theory, it's saved indefinitely.

Some of this information is fairly easy to access, while other memories are more difficult

to recall.

For example, do you remember what your first day of kindergarten was like?

Contrast this with working memory (sometimes referred to as short-term or active memory),

which is limited and retains information for mere seconds.

Working memory puts information on the tip of your tongue.

It's easy to access, but you don't retain the information for long, unless you move

it to long-term memory.

Interestingly, Laney writes, introverts tend to favor long-term memory over working memory.

And just like the name sounds, it can take more time to reach into long-term memory and

access the information stored there.

The right association, or key, is needed to "pull up" the information you're trying

to recall, something that reminds you of the stored memory.

For example, if you tried to recall your first day of kindergarten, perhaps you looked around

the room and noticed a pair of sneakers.

This made you remember the sneakers you wore as a kid, which in turn reminded you that

someone spilled milk on your shoes the first day of kindergarten.

And, suddenly you remember more about that day.

Reaching into long-term memory can be a lengthy, complex process.

This slows down introverts when we're speaking.

And if you happen to be even the slightest bit anxious when you're trying to speak,

like how I felt when my intimidating coworker approached me, it may be even more difficult

to locate and articulate the right words.

Not all introverts have social anxiety or are shy, but it's not unusual for an introvert

to experience at least some level of anxiety in a social situation.

Anxiety is mentally draining, and can make it harder to recall information.

That's because the stress hormone cortisol is released in large amounts during times

of anxiety.

Cortisol affects the brain, and can lead to memory loss and problems with recall.

Why Writing Is Easier for Introverts

Introverts "often feel as if they express themselves better in writing than in conversation,"

writes Susan Cain in Quiet.

And indeed, many introverts are authors.

John Green, author of The Fault in Our Stars, writes that "Writing is something you do

alone.

It's a profession for introverts who want to tell you a story but don't want to make

eye contact while doing it."

While not all introverts become professional writers, they generally prefer text messages

and emails to phone calls and in-person meetings.

Likewise, many introverts say journaling helps them understand their thoughts and feelings

better.

The reason for this preference again has to do with how our brains are wired: written

words use different pathways in the brain, which seem to flow more fluently for introverts.

What to Do When Your Mind Goes Blank

Memory is complex.

It uses many different areas of the brain.

Your brain stores memories in several locations and creates links between them.

To yank something out of long-term memory, you need to locate the right association.

The good news is most pieces of information in long-term memory were stored with several

associations or keys for unlocking them.

Laney explains that "If we find just one key, we can retrieve the whole memory.

When you struggle to remember a word, a piece of information, or even what you did over

the weekend (because that question comes up in small talk!), try these things:

Be still and relax.

Give yourself permission to be quiet for a few moments.

Don't let the other person rush you.

Buy yourself time by saying something like, "Let me think about that," or "Hmm,

let me see…"

Or, give a nonverbal signal that shows you're thinking, like looking away and furrowing

your brow slightly.

Let your mind wander and go where it wants.

One thought may lead to another, and one of those thoughts may hold the key to unlocking

the words you need from your long-term memory.

If all else fails, and words escape you, don't feel embarrassed, your brain is doing what

comes naturally to it, and that is to pause and reflect.

If you're being quiet, you're in good company with other deep-thinking introverts;

the brilliant physicist Stephen Hawking once said, "Quiet people have the loudest minds."

Try breezing over any awkwardness by using humor to make light of your tongue-tied state.

Or say you're a little distracted right now, but you'll get back to them later,

by sending an email or a text.

Well, that's the scientific explanation why introverts struggle to speak up.

Really cool information isn't it?

Why I can't Make Videos Reason 12 - Public Speaking - Duration: 1:46.

Why I can't make videos reason number 12. I don't like speaking in front of people.

Well then you're in business, because let me tell you, lots of times when you're making

videos, you're all by yourself. You're not speaking in front of people.

Now you might be going to give a speech somewhere and want it videotaped but

that's a whole new ballgame. Just to make videos to put up on your channel or

share with Facebook or to talk about your your business, you're not talking to a

bunch of people. You're not speaking in public. You're talking to one person and

that's what I want you to do is when you look at the camera. You don't have to sit

there and think, oh there's millions of people out there that might see me. Talk

to your camera like you're talking to one person. If you want to put your

favorite person's picture behind it and talk to your camera as if it's your best

friend. You're not talking to millions of people each time your video is hit and

the play button gets pushed. You're talking to one person. So I think for

people that don't like public speaking this is the way to get their message out.

What would I be like on a stage in a big crowd? Don't know, I don't do that.

Let me tell you what, I can talk to you because you're the only person in that

camera. So you know like talking in front of people, this is the way to go.

Go ahead, put that picture behind camera nobody needs to know it. We won't tell, we

can't see it. Go talk to that one person you'll be good to go.

Indian Navy to buy underwater systems for its submarines - Duration: 2:30.

The Indian Navy on Wednesday floated a global request for information to buy 12 anti-torpedo

defense systems and associated equipment for its submarines.

"The ATDS is an important program, and it will acquired on a fast-track basis," a

senior Indian Navy official said.

Global defense companies from Germany, Russia and the U.S. are likely to respond to this

request for information, or RFI, and the service wants to induct them within the next two years,

he added.

The foreign defense companies have also been asked to furnish details of transfer of production

and transfer of technology of ATDS.

Currently, no Indian defense company manufactures submarine-launched ATDS.

The global defense companies have been asked to furnish details of the basic design of

the submarine ATDS, their experience in design, manufacturing and fitment on board submarines.

None of the Indian Navy's submarines are equipped with ATDS; only its warships have

the system.

"The submarine ATDS is intended to be installed and exploited on board all classes of submarines

of the Indian Navy and provide reliable defense against modern and future anti-submarine torpedoes

through timely countermeasures at sufficient range from the submarine so as to guarantee

safety and survivability of own platform," the RFI states.

ATDS uses decoys to distract an oncoming torpedo by generating a false signature, acoustic

jammers and kinetic destructors.

Early this month, the Indian Navy also issued a global RFI to procure an estimated150 heavyweight

torpedoes for its Scorpene-class submarines.

The RFI has been issued to Rosoboronexport of Russia, Saab of Sweden, Naval Group of

France, ThyssenKrupp of Germany and Mitsubishi of Japan.

The foreign defense companies have also been asked to provide details of production and

transfer of technology of heavyweight torpedoes.

The move on procurement of heavyweight torpedoes comes after formal cancellation of 100 Black

Shark heavyweight torpedoes from Whitehead Alenia Sistemi Subacquei.

The Italian company was formally informed of the cancellation of the contract by the

Indian Ministry of Defense earlier this month.

When you cast your vote far from home - Duration: 4:40.

The Swiss abroad in general

vote more to the political left,

and are more economically and ecologically conscious at the ballot box.

This showed for example

during the 2015 elections, when the Social Democrats

got the most votes among the Swiss abroad.

And even the Green Party, despite losses,

did considerably better among the Swiss abroad

than among the Swiss at home.

But it also shows in the fact that the Swiss abroad

clearly rejected the people's initiative against mass immigration.

Same goes for the People's Party's asylum initiative.

But sometimes there are exceptions to the rule.

Like the proposal on building a second Gotthard road tunnel.

There was far more approval among the Swiss abroad

for the proposal than from voters at home.

I believe there is a specific reason for this:

They use the Gotthard tunnel more intensely.

When it comes to European politics, the Swiss abroad

generally vote more openly.

This is certainly due to the fact that a large part

of the Swiss diaspora lives in neighbouring European countries.

And the reasons why people move abroad are also relevant.

Many go abroad for business and economic reasons.

This too leads to them generally being more open

to economic liberalism and sociopolitical matters

than the Swiss at home.

The Swiss abroad distinguish themselves

from the Swiss at home,

since they don't live abroad by coincidence.

They have specific reasons for moving.

Family reasons for example.

They marry and go abroad with their partners.

This group of Swiss abroad, by the way,

resembles the rest of the Swiss the most in voting matters.

Others are there for business reasons.

And still others for education, of course.

So the group of Swiss abroad consists

of people with these specific reasons for living abroad.

That's the reason why they vote differently.

The Swiss abroad are well informed

mainly thanks to the internet.

It is the most commonly used medium

among the Swiss abroad when gathering vote information.

For the Swiss at home it's still the newspapers.

There is also a sort of self-selection.

People must register at the Embassy

before they can vote as Swiss citizens abroad.

These steps are primarily taken by those

who still have a strong bond with the home country

and who show an interest in politics and want to be involved.

This is also why the Swiss abroad

are on average better informed than the Swiss at home.

It is really interesting to observe how people vote

when they live outside the usual media area.

This question was recently discussed, for example

in connection with the referendum in Turkey.

How did the Turks abroad vote in Germany?

I personally believe that today the differences are quite small.

This is essentially because of the internet.

Unlike 25 years ago, today it's easy

to be well informed about Swiss policy,

even if you are geographically remote from Switzerland.
