Peter Pan fairytale - audiobook - DO YOU BELIEVE IN FAIRIES - Bedtime stories - Duration: 20:34.DO YOU BELIEVE IN FAIRIES?
The more quickly this horror is disposed of the better.
The first to emerge from his tree was Curly.
He rose out of it into the arms of Cecco, who flung him to Smee, who flung him to Starkey,
who flung him to Bill Jukes, who flung him to Noodler, and so he was tossed from one
to another till he fell at the feet of the black pirate.
All the boys were plucked from their trees in this ruthless manner; and several of them
were in the air at a time, like bales of goods flung from hand to hand.
A different treatment was accorded to Wendy, who came last.
With ironical politeness Hook raised his hat to her, and, offering her his arm, escorted
her to the spot where the others were being gagged.
He did it with such an air, he was so frightfully DISTINGUE, that she was too fascinated to
cry out.
She was only a little girl.
Perhaps it is tell-tale to divulge that for a moment Hook entranced her, and we tell on
her only because her slip led to strange results.
Had she haughtily unhanded him (and we should have loved to write it of her), she would
have been hurled through the air like the others, and then Hook would probably not have
been present at the tying of the children; and had he not been at the tying he would
not have discovered Slightly's secret, and without the secret he could not presently
have made his foul attempt on Peter's life.
They were tied to prevent their flying away, doubled up with their knees close to their
ears; and for the trussing of them the black pirate had cut a rope into nine equal pieces.
All went well until Slightly's turn came, when he was found to be like those irritating
parcels that use up all the string in going round and leave no tags [ends] with which
to tie a knot.
The pirates kicked him in their rage, just as you kick the parcel (though in fairness
you should kick the string); and strange to say it was Hook who told them to belay their
violence.
His lip was curled with malicious triumph.
While his dogs were merely sweating because every time they tried to pack the unhappy
lad tight in one part he bulged out in another, Hook's master mind had gone far beneath Slightly's
surface, probing not for effects but for causes; and his exultation showed that he had found
them.
Slightly, white to the gills, knew that Hook had surprised [discovered] his secret, which
was this, that no boy so blown out could use a tree wherein an average man need stick.
Poor Slightly, most wretched of all the children now, for he was in a panic about Peter, bitterly
regretted what he had done.
Madly addicted to the drinking of water when he was hot, he had swelled in consequence
to his present girth, and instead of reducing himself to fit his tree he had, unknown to
the others, whittled his tree to make it fit him.
Sufficient of this Hook guessed to persuade him that Peter at last lay at his mercy, but
no word of the dark design that now formed in the subterranean caverns of his mind crossed
his lips; he merely signed that the captives were to be conveyed to the ship, and that
he would be alone.
How to convey them?
Hunched up in their ropes they might indeed be rolled down hill like barrels, but most
of the way lay through a morass.
Again Hook's genius surmounted difficulties.
He indicated that the little house must be used as a conveyance.
The children were flung into it, four stout pirates raised it on their shoulders, the
others fell in behind, and singing the hateful pirate chorus the strange procession set off
through the wood.
I don't know whether any of the children were crying; if so, the singing drowned the sound;
but as the little house disappeared in the forest, a brave though tiny jet of smoke issued
from its chimney as if defying Hook.
Hook saw it, and it did Peter a bad service.
It dried up any trickle of pity for him that may have remained in the pirate's infuriated
breast.
The first thing he did on finding himself alone in the fast falling night was to tiptoe
to Slightly's tree, and make sure that it provided him with a passage.
Then for long he remained brooding; his hat of ill omen on the sward, so that any gentle
breeze which had arisen might play refreshingly through his hair.
Dark as were his thoughts his blue eyes were as soft as the periwinkle.
Intently he listened for any sound from the nether world, but all was as silent below
as above; the house under the ground seemed to be but one more empty tenement in the void.
Was that boy asleep, or did he stand waiting at the foot of Slightly's tree, with his dagger
in his hand?
There was no way of knowing, save by going down.
Hook let his cloak slip softly to the ground, and then biting his lips till a lewd blood
stood on them, he stepped into the tree.
He was a brave man, but for a moment he had to stop there and wipe his brow, which was
dripping like a candle.
Then, silently, he let himself go into the unknown.
He arrived unmolested at the foot of the shaft, and stood still again, biting at his breath,
which had almost left him.
As his eyes became accustomed to the dim light various objects in the home under the trees
took shape; but the only one on which his greedy gaze rested, long sought for and found
at last, was the great bed.
On the bed lay Peter fast asleep.
Unaware of the tragedy being enacted above, Peter had continued, for a little time after
the children left, to play gaily on his pipes: no doubt rather a forlorn attempt to prove
to himself that he did not care.
Then he decided not to take his medicine, so as to grieve Wendy.
Then he lay down on the bed outside the coverlet, to vex her still more; for she had always
tucked them inside it, because you never know that you may not grow chilly at the turn of
the night.
Then he nearly cried; but it struck him how indignant she would be if he laughed instead;
so he laughed a haughty laugh and fell asleep in the middle of it.
Sometimes, though not often, he had dreams, and they were more painful than the dreams
of other boys.
For hours he could not be separated from these dreams, though he wailed piteously in them.
They had to do, I think, with the riddle of his existence.
At such times it had been Wendy's custom to take him out of bed and sit with him on her
lap, soothing him in dear ways of her own invention, and when he grew calmer to put
him back to bed before he quite woke up, so that he should not know of the indignity to
which she had subjected him.
But on this occasion he had fallen at once into a dreamless sleep.
One arm dropped over the edge of the bed, one leg was arched, and the unfinished part
of his laugh was stranded on his mouth, which was open, showing the little pearls.
Thus defenceless Hook found him.
He stood silent at the foot of the tree looking across the chamber at his enemy.
Did no feeling of compassion disturb his sombre breast?
The man was not wholly evil; he loved flowers and sweet music (he was himself no mean performer
on the harpsichord); and, let it be frankly admitted, the idyllic nature of the scene
stirred him profoundly.
Mastered by his better self he would have returned reluctantly up the tree, but for
one thing.
What stayed him was Peter's impertinent appearance as he slept.
The open mouth, the drooping arm, the arched knee: they were such a personification of
cockiness as, taken together, will never again, one may hope, be presented to eyes so sensitive
to their offensiveness.
They steeled Hook's heart.
If his rage had broken him into a hundred pieces every one of them would have disregarded
the incident, and leapt at the sleeper.
Though a light from the one lamp shone dimly on the bed, Hook stood in darkness himself,
and at the first stealthy step forward he discovered an obstacle, the door of Slightly's
tree.
It did not entirely fill the aperture, and he had been looking over it.
Feeling for the catch, he found to his fury that it was low down, beyond his reach.
To his disordered brain it seemed then that the irritating quality in Peter's face and
figure visibly increased, and he rattled the door and flung himself against it.
Was his enemy to escape him after all?
But what was that?
The red in his eye had caught sight of Peter's medicine standing on a ledge within easy reach.
He fathomed what it was straightaway, and immediately knew that the sleeper was in his
power.
Lest he should be taken alive, Hook always carried about his person a dreadful drug,
blended by himself of all the death-dealing rings that had come into his possession.
These he had boiled down into a yellow liquid quite unknown to science, which was probably
the most virulent poison in existence.
Five drops of this he now added to Peter's cup.
His hand shook, but it was in exultation rather than in shame.
As he did it he avoided glancing at the sleeper, but not lest pity should unnerve him; merely
to avoid spilling.
Then one long gloating look he cast upon his victim, and turning, wormed his way with difficulty
up the tree.
As he emerged at the top he looked the very spirit of evil breaking from its hole.
Donning his hat at its most rakish angle, he wound his cloak around him, holding one
end in front as if to conceal his person from the night, of which it was the blackest part,
and muttering strangely to himself, stole away through the trees.
Peter slept on.
The light guttered [burned to edges] and went out, leaving the tenement in darkness; but
still he slept.
It must have been not less than ten o'clock by the crocodile, when he suddenly sat up
in his bed, wakened by he knew not what.
It was a soft cautious tapping on the door of his tree.
Soft and cautious, but in that stillness it was sinister.
Peter felt for his dagger till his hand gripped it.
Then he spoke.
"Who is that?"
For long there was no answer: then again the knock.
"Who are you?"
No answer.
He was thrilled, and he loved being thrilled.
In two strides he reached the door.
Unlike Slightly's door, it filled the aperture [opening], so that he could not see beyond
it, nor could the one knocking see him.
"I won't open unless you speak," Peter cried.
Then at last the visitor spoke, in a lovely bell-like voice.
"Let me in, Peter."
It was Tink, and quickly he unbarred to her.
She flew in excitedly, her face flushed and her dress stained with mud.
"What is it?"
"Oh, you could never guess!" she cried, and offered him three guesses.
"Out with it!" he shouted, and in one ungrammatical sentence, as long as the ribbons that conjurers
[magicians] pull from their mouths, she told of the capture of Wendy and the boys.
Peter's heart bobbed up and down as he listened.
Wendy bound, and on the pirate ship; she who loved everything to be just so!
"I'll rescue her!" he cried, leaping at his weapons.
As he leapt he thought of something he could do to please her.
He could take his medicine.
His hand closed on the fatal draught.
"No!" shrieked Tinker Bell, who had heard Hook mutter about his deed as he sped through
the forest.
"Why not?"
"It is poisoned."
"Poisoned?
Who could have poisoned it?"
"Hook."
"Don't be silly.
How could Hook have got down here?"
Alas, Tinker Bell could not explain this, for even she did not know the dark secret
of Slightly's tree.
Nevertheless Hook's words had left no room for doubt.
The cup was poisoned.
"Besides," said Peter, quite believing himself "I never fell asleep."
He raised the cup.
No time for words now; time for deeds; and with one of her lightning movements Tink got
between his lips and the draught, and drained it to the dregs.
"Why, Tink, how dare you drink my medicine?"
But she did not answer.
Already she was reeling in the air.
"What is the matter with you?"
cried Peter, suddenly afraid.
"It was poisoned, Peter," she told him softly; "and now I am going to be dead."
"O Tink, did you drink it to save me?"
"Yes."
"But why, Tink?"
Her wings would scarcely carry her now, but in reply she alighted on his shoulder and
gave his nose a loving bite.
She whispered in his ear "You silly ass," and then, tottering to her chamber, lay down
on the bed.
His head almost filled the fourth wall of her little room as he knelt near her in distress.
Every moment her light was growing fainter; and he knew that if it went out she would
be no more.
She liked his tears so much that she put out her beautiful finger and let them run over
it.
Her voice was so low that at first he could not make out what she said.
Then he made it out.
She was saying that she thought she could get well again if children believed in fairies.
Peter flung out his arms.
There were no children there, and it was night time; but he addressed all who might be dreaming
of the Neverland, and who were therefore nearer to him than you think: boys and girls in their
nighties, and naked papooses in their baskets hung from trees.
"Do you believe?" he cried.
Tink sat up in bed almost briskly to listen to her fate.
She fancied she heard answers in the affirmative, and then again she wasn't sure.
"What do you think?" she asked Peter.
"If you believe," he shouted to them, "clap your hands; don't let Tink die."
Many clapped.
Some didn't.
A few beasts hissed.
The clapping stopped suddenly; as if countless mothers had rushed to their nurseries to see
what on earth was happening; but already Tink was saved.
First her voice grew strong, then she popped out of bed, then she was flashing through
the room more merry and impudent than ever.
She never thought of thanking those who believed, but she would have like to get at the ones
who had hissed.
"And now to rescue Wendy!"
The moon was riding in a cloudy heaven when Peter rose from his tree, begirt [belted]
with weapons and wearing little else, to set out upon his perilous quest.
It was not such a night as he would have chosen.
He had hoped to fly, keeping not far from the ground so that nothing unwonted should
escape his eyes; but in that fitful light to have flown low would have meant trailing
his shadow through the trees, thus disturbing birds and acquainting a watchful foe that
he was astir.
He regretted now that he had given the birds of the island such strange names that they
are very wild and difficult of approach.
There was no other course but to press forward in redskin fashion, at which happily he was
an adept.
But in what direction, for he could not be sure that the children had been taken to the
ship?
A light fall of snow had obliterated all footmarks; and a deathly silence pervaded the island,
as if for a space Nature stood still in horror of the recent carnage.
He had taught the children something of the forest lore that he had himself learned from
Tiger Lily and Tinker Bell, and knew that in their dire hour they were not likely to
forget it.
Slightly, if he had an opportunity, would blaze [cut a mark in] the trees, for instance,
Curly would drop seeds, and Wendy would leave her handkerchief at some important place.
The morning was needed to search for such guidance, and he could not wait.
The upper world had called him, but would give no help.
The crocodile passed him, but not another living thing, not a sound, not a movement;
and yet he knew well that sudden death might be at the next tree, or stalking him from
behind.
He swore this terrible oath: "Hook or me this time."
Now he crawled forward like a snake, and again erect, he darted across a space on which the
moonlight played, one finger on his lip and his dagger at the ready.
He was frightfully happy.

How To Choose A Website Platform - Squarespace or Wordpress - Duration: 4:55.One of the hottest topics in the world
of online entrepreneurship is WordPress
vs Squarespace which website platform
should I be using for my brand? A lot of
website designers are passionate Team
Wordpress fans and anti-Squarespace
while other designers are pro-
Squarespace and anti-Wordpress. So who
should you even listen to? The person you
actually need to be listening to you is
yourself. You need to ask yourself
questions like "What do I need my website
to do?" "What is my experience level?" "How
involved am I willing to get when it
comes to managing my website?" Once you
know what it is you're looking for
it'll be a lot easier for you to choose
the right website platform for your
brand. Keep watching as I share the
biggest pros and cons of website
platforms - Squarespace and WordPress. (intro music)
Hey there! Welcome back to the Holly Meyer
Design studio. Holly here! On this channel
I share brand tips and design
tutorials that empower wholehearted
creatives to infuse new life into their
brand so they can captivate their dream
audience and stand out in their industry.
At Holly Meyer Design
I design custom Squarespace and
Wordpress websites for my clients every
single day. And when it comes to website
platforms I am pro-choice. It doesn't
matter my personal preference as a
designer,
what matters is how the website will
work for you and if the platform will
give you everything you need for your
brand. So let's start with the pros of
Squarespace! It's no secret that
Squarespace is my favorite platform and
it's what I used to host the Holly Meyer
Design website. More and more of my
clients are wanting to build their
website on Squarespace the first go around or
transition over from WordPress.
Squarespace is perfect for you if you
don't need any bells and whistles on
your website. It's completely intuitive
and easy-to-use with its a drag-and-drop
features.
Personally I love Squarespace because I can
make quick and easy updates to my
website without worrying about breaking
a thing. And I
don't have to stress out about spammers
flooding to my website either. If you're
familiar with HTML and CSS you can use
custom code to make any Squarespace
template completely your own. One con of
hosting your website on Squarespace is if
the Squarespace server goes down your
website goes down along with it and you
have no control over how long that
period might be. Another con is Squarespace
can only get you so far.
If you're looking for a robust website
with more features and more control then
Wordpress is going to be perfect for you.
Now let's talk about the pros of
WordPress! This platform has been around
the longest and has a large community of
developers that are constantly creating
Wordpress themes and plugins for you to
use. The best part about Wordpress is you
can create a fully customized website
from scratch with an endless amount of
features. And now that drag-and-drop
Wordpress builders like Divi and Beaver
Builder are gaining in popularity you
don't really need to have an extensive
knowledge of HTML or CSS to get your
website up and running. The biggest
downside to Wordpress is that you
constantly have to stay on top of
updating your plugins to make sure that
your website is running smoothly. And if
you don't consider yourself tech-savvy
you may live with the fear in the back of
your mind that with one wrong move you
might break your website. If you don't
want to live with that fear I recommend
hiring a Wordpress expert on retainer
so your website will always be updated
and backed up in case anything were to
happen. So there you have it! A quick rundown of
the pros and cons of the top website
platforms Squarespace and Wordpress. I
want to hear from you! Which website
platform are you most drawn to? Which
platform are you currently using for
your website and why? Tell me all about

Okay.
It's actually better for the body to exercise.
Some people's bodies are different.
Mm-hmm.
Now, some people --
it's better to exercise in the morning,
others -- afternoon, others -- at night.
You get better results,
you know...
So, how do I learn that?
...if you know your baseline.
You can take a little diagnostic.
We use DIAGNOStickers.
Mm-hmm.
And this will just tell you
exactly when you're at your peak.
What is your name?
Taylor.
Taylor. Michael.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you, Taylor.
Okay, so, it's a simple little procedure --
nothing to be scared about.
We use --
Looks a little freaky.
[ Chuckles ] No.
Okay, so, these are the little electrodes.
Okay.
This is the DIAGNOSticker
right here.
So, you're gonna want to roll up your sleeve.
Now?
Mm-hmm. Yep.
And let me peel that one open for you.
Okay.
Okay, good.
And inside here,
this has a little...
porous surface.
Okay.
And that's gonna go up against your skin.
So that'll be right -- okay, we'll lay this down --
right like that, okay?
And I'm gonna touch a little electrode to it here...
...right like this.
And that gets pressed right here.
And...this end's gonna go onto another little electrode
that we're gonna place on your forehead, okay?
All right.
Right. Okay.
There you are.
Perfecto.
Okay, good.
So, this, you're gonna want to do,
if you do -- I'll let you go home with one, too.
Okay.
That you want to try in the morning,
is usually the best time to start...
Okay.
...'cause that'll tell you what --
So now is, like, too late?
Well, it depends. Did you eat today?
I just ate like 15 minutes ago.
Oh, okay.
Is that why?
It might be a little off.
Okay.
What did you eat?
A...ciabatta sandwich.
Ciabatta sandwich?
It's, like, the bread is ciabatta...
Oh, okay.
and it had bacon on it, I think.
Bacon and...
Gouda and egg,
like a breakfast sandwich.
Ah, okay.
That might mess it up a little bit.
Might be why?
So don't eat it --
don't use it right after I eat?
Right, don't use it right after you eat.
Okay.
But there we go.
Here.
We're gonna peel that up.
There you go.
Let's see.
Okay.
All right, well, it's showing you "Taylor" --
that's your name.
Yeah, that's so weird.
Well, that's it -- you're at 75%.
Okay.
Yeah, so that'll be like --
I would say,
at this part of the day,
you're about at 75% of your energy.
And then, it's saying "Bacon/Gouda" at 100%.
So... And it knows that
from being on my skin?
Yeah, y--
Or it heard -- It didn't hear me.
It's not like electric or any--
I mean, this is, but, like, it's not like -- Okay.
That just was really weird
how it said bacon and Gouda on it when I said that.
Oh, that's because you ate --
it knows you ate the bacon and Gouda.
Oh, okay.
That's why bacon and Gouda are both at 100%.
So that's coming out of me right now?
Yeah.
If you were gonna try this again,
I wouldn't eat any Gouda for at least three weeks.
You're only at 75% Taylor.
You could be 100% Taylor most of the day.

CAN I GET A CASH ADVANCE ON A STRUCTURED SETTLEMENT | CASH ADVANCE STRUCTURED SETTLEMENT 2017 - Duration: 4:46.welcome to economy inside today we will
guide you about cash advance structured
settlement there is a lot of confusion
about what is a structured settlement
many people will search the internet
trying to figure out if they should
accept one one of the benefits and
drawbacks and if they have one what is
the process to liquidate if the time
comes and they need a lump sellers cash
at the outset it is important to briefly
explain that a structured settlement in
a very general sense relates to the
settlement of a lawsuit whereby the
injured party often referred to as a
plaintiff accepts payments over time to
compensate for his or her injury instead
of all the money up front by virtue of
the fact that a structured settlement is
in fact a settlement the plaintiff and
defendant must come to an agreement that
the lawsuit claimed or demand be settled
in this fashion it is also important to
recognize that when one is talking about
a structured settlement they are merely
referring to the fact that a resolution
of some claimed occurred that resulted
in periodic payments over time a
settlement structured in this fashion
can result from claims or cases ranging
from serious personal injury to workers
compensation to employment disputes and
more while the structures of settlements
of these types of cases may all look the
same illegal tax and financial
implications differ depending on what
the basis of the underlying claim that
gave rise to the structured settlement
was
the most significant differences for
some people maybe in the future
potential signability of a structured
settlement if need comes about in the
future where the recipient wants to cash
out a settlement and get all the money
were part of it up front it is critical
to understand that much of the law in
this area is governed by specific state
code provisions what you might be
entitled to do in Connecticut if you
live there may differ than what a
California structured settlement
recipient has the right to do it can be
a difficult task to ascertain what your
options are for example you may live in
a state that allows what is often called
a commutation provision or process in
the event you received structured
settlement from a workman's compensation
case or you may live in a state that
allows you to assign your right to
workers compensation to a third-party
buyer in particular the assignment or
liquidation of workers compensation is
very much controlled by the state where
the claim was resolved
somewhat differently if you have a
structured settlement from a personal
injury lawsuit
there is a specific code provision that
governs when and how you can liquidate
some or all of the structured settlement
and the code provision works in tandem
with in most cases a state law in the
state where you currently reside not
necessarily where the case was settled
the federal and state law in this area
of assignment of structured settlements
require that i hearing is held in a
civil court and that the court find
among other things that the assignment
of your structured settlement payment is
in your best interests
well unlike in most cases with workers
compensation payments you do potentially
have the right to petition the court to
allow you to liquidate structured
settlement payments from a personal
injury lawsuit
this brings to the natural question of
whether you can get a cash advance on a
structured settlement is noted earlier
the answer is very specific to the state
where workers compensation case was
settled with respect to personal injury
structured settlements one must be clear
what they are referring to as a
structured settlement cash advance as we
discussed getting a lump for a
structured settlement is generally
permitted if the court in the state
where you live approves the transaction
as in your best interest
this process however can take between
one to two months and oftentimes the
need for an immediate cash advance
exists when this is the case some
structured settlement byers subject to
state law again may release a portion of
the lump sum that they have agreed to
pay if and when a judge approves the
transaction in your home state this
process and the ability of a cash
advance on your lump sum is something
you should address with the third party
making an offer to buy your structured
settlement before you sign any documents
like many areas of the law a structured
settlement is heavily controlled by
state provisions and the actual
documents themselves before pursuing any
liquidation options you should consider
alternatives and potentially meet with a
legal advisor to discuss the
implications of the transactions while
their account is justifiable reasons why
cash now can benefit any of us there are
often good reasons why converting future
payments rights to love some may not be
prudent if you are interested to get a
cash for structured settlement watch the

How to Hold a Crochet Hook - Left Handed Crochet for Beginners! - Duration: 1:24.There are two ways you can hold your crochet hook.
The first position is called the knife.
I'm picking up the hook with the head facing up, pinching the thumb grip between my thumb
and forefinger, and holding the handle with the rest of my fingers.
The throat should be in line with my thumb.
The second position is the pencil.
Like the name suggests, hold the hook like a pencil with its head pointing down and pinching
the thumb grip with all of your fingers.
Again, the throat should be in line with your fingers.
Hold the hook in whichever position is most natural to you.
Begin to crochet by putting a slipknot on your hook.
Pull on the tail so that the slip knot is snug but not too tight that it can't move.
You'll be holding the working yarn in your right hand.
Then, wrap the yarn around your palm and then behind your index finger.
This will give you the best tension and control over your working yarn.

Disability Day on the Hill 2017 Issues & Tips - Duration: 11:39.Hi, welcome to the State Capitol. This is where you'll be
On Disability Day on the Hill and we're excited
to think about having all folks with
disabilities and their families and
their allies coming downtown to Nashville
to talk to their legislators to really
make a difference in the lives of
Tennesseans who have disabilities.
I'm Carol Westlake. I work with
Tennessee Disability Coalition and we
are looking forward to having you.
This little virtual presentation is a way
to begin to prepare you for Disability Day on the Hill.
Public policy effects all of us
in many many ways. Whether it is
healthcare, education, transportation or
employment. And we want you to think
about those things and think about the
things that matter to you and how public
policy impacts that on your way to this preparation.
DDH is a great time to
begin to a build relationship or to
continue a relationship with your
Senators and Representatives and to
really make sure that they're educated
about those things that are important and
understand the impact of their work.
So think about your life, think about the
lives of people around you and the kinds
of issues that are important to you.
There will be specific policies, specific bills
that we're going to talk about a little bit as a part
of this presentation. But overall, the
real important thing is for you to be able to
tell your story and talk about the
issues that are important to you.
One way to think about those issue is to go to the
Coalition's Website and take a look at our
Public Policy Platform.
This covers a broad number of areas in
public policy where the state has a role
in making sure that they're passing
enabling kinds of policies that really
make a difference in people's life. And that will help you
get prepared, I think. Another way to get
prepared is to make sure you know who your
legislator is and know a little bit
about them and perhaps some of the
policies that they are going to be
addressing this year.
So the best way to do that is to go to
the state's website. The General Assembly has
a website where you can put in your zip code
and it will tell you who your Senator is
and who your Representative is.
There'll be pictures there. You'll see what
committees they're on. It'll talk a little bit
about their background. So you'll have
something to talk about if you don't
know your legislator well when you get there.
That's also a place to go and look at bills.
You can search by
subject, so if there's something that's
really important to you-- put that subject in
and you can see the kinds of
policies that are going to be considered this
year during the General Assembly.
This is the first session of a two-session Assembly
and that means that not all the bills that are going
to be addressed are going to be on the
website when you go there before DDH.
Because the bill cut-off is February 9th.
But there will be a lot of things there that will
really give you a sense of the work of
the General Assembly and the kinds of
things that they're doing.
Hi, I'm Emily Hoskins. I'm a former U.S. Paralympian
for Women's Wheelchair Basketball.
I now serve as Head Coach of the
Music City Thunder and we're part of a
local organization called ABLE Youth.
ABLE Youth works with kids with disabilities
through sports and recreation.
Disability Day on the Hill is important
because it's a chance for
people with all types of disabilities of all ages
to speak up to their legislators about
the things that they are passionate about
and the things that they need.
We need to fight for and raise our voice for access to things
like healthcare, education
transportation, employment
and everything in between.
So use this opportunity to raise your voice.
Let your legislators know
about what's important to you.
Hi, my name is Sarah, and today I'm going
to talk about policy issues of note to
help you prepare for
Disability Day on the Hill 2017.
First let's talk about the Tennessee Autism Council.
Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental
disability that causes significant
social, communication and behavioral challenges.
In 2014, the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention released
new prevalence data indicating that
about 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with ASD.
ASD impacts all communities, all
ages and all socio-economic classes.
Nearly every state agency is impacted by
this growing condition.
In November 2015, the Joint Legislative Task Force on
Autism Spectrum Disorder adopted the
recommendation to create a "home" in
state government to assist interagency coordination.
This year, introduced at the
state legislature is Senate bill SB 199
which would create the Tennessee Council
on Autism Spectrum Disorder. This Council
would consist of several state agencies
and six individuals impacted by autism.
The Council would assess the current and
future impact of ASD in Tennessee,
assess current programs and services in state
government and through providers and coordinate
among state agencies to develop a
comprehensive statewide system of care.
The Coalition is very supportive of this legislation.
Another piece of legislation
introduced at the state legislature this
year regards health maintenance tasks.
Health maintenance tasks are those that
people would ordinarily perform for
themselves for which they may need
assistance because of a disability.
Examples are putting in eye drops or
taking one's blood sugar.
These are tasks that family members and
friends, who have no professional
training, perform for their loved ones
every day in their own homes.
Paid personal assistants cannot currently
help with these tasks.
Therefore, if a friend or family member
is not available, a nurse is required
to come to the person's home.
This is not often practical, affordable
or sustainable. Legislation introduced
this year would allow the person or
caregiver to direct and supervise a paid
personal aide to perform health
maintenance tasks if the person's
treating healthcare provider determines
that it is safe to do so and trains the aide.
This is a bill the Coalition, again, is very supportive of.
Another piece of legislation introduced this year
regards non-medical switching.
Non-medical switching is the practice of
compelling a stable patient to change
medications for reasons unrelated to his
or her health; often driven by health
plan design or policies.
In Tennessee, there are currently no protections that
prevent health insurers from reducing
coverage of medications even after a
consumer has signed on to an insurance plan.
Mid-year benefit changes are
fundamentally unfair to all consumers,
especially those who carefully
a plan based on its original terms.
Even worse, however, mid-year
coverage changes can actually be unsafe.
Increases in drug costs often force patients
off of there originally prescribed
treatment causing increased symptoms,
side effects and even relapse.
This is disproportionately affects
individuals with chronic illnesses.
The Tennessee Coalition for Patient Stability,
made up of both patient and clinician
advocacy groups, and of which the
Tennessee Disability Coalition is a member,
is putting forth a bill that asks
Tennessee lawmakers to ensure that
consumers can count on the pharmacy
benefits they are sold and prevent non-medical switching.
In Tennessee, there are about 8,000 Tennesseans with
intellectual, developmental and
age-related disabilities who depend on
home- and community-based service providers.
The Direct Support
Professionals in community agencies
provide the foundation for community
living. They ensure the health, safety and
well-being of people with disabilities
by providing daily personal care,
teaching life skills and supporting
people to be actively engaged and
working in their community.
Today home- and community-based service providers
are experiencing a 46 percent turnover
in direct support professionals causing
a provider workforce crisis.
This is due in part because the state of Tennessee
is only allowed to reimburse direct
support professional salaries based on a
set methodology of eight dollars and 73
cents an hour. This figure has risen
just forty-eight cents in the last 10 years.
More competitive wages are needed
to serve our most vulnerable population.
We are asking that the 2017 budget
including a one dollar an hour increase in
the Department of Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities rate
methodology for all residential,
personal assistance,
day and family-based services funded by the state.
This would provide funds needed
to increase DSP wages.
Our final issue today to discuss is a federal issue that
impacts all Americans including Tennesseans.
On the national stage, there
are proposals to turn Medicaid into a
block grant program. Now, currently
TennCare is our state's Medicaid program
that provides healthcare for
approximately 1.5 million Tennesseans.
Currently, the federal government matches
state funding for TennCare at about a 3 to 1 rate.
Funding for these services rises and falls
according to actual state costs and needs.
Under a block grant plan, Federal
spending would be set in advance and capped.
States would be responsible for all
Medicaid costs in excess of the Federal cap.
Block grants are typically established
based on a state's current or historical spending.
Historically, the amount allotted
to states for progressive years is
increased at a considerably slower rate
than actual increases in health care
costs and the need for Medicaid services
as our population ages. The results is an
increased burden on states and fewer
Americans are able to receive needed services.
To compensate for the Federal
Medicaid funding cuts a block grant
would institute, states would either have
to contribute more of their own funding
or, as far more likely, use the greater
flexibility the block grant would give
them to make dramatic cuts to
eligibility, benefits and provider payments.
It is very important that we
educate our lawmakers about how harmful
Medicaid block grants could be.
Thank you for listening today. I'd like
to remind everyone that on our website at:
www.tndisability.org
we have factsheets on all of these issues.
Well, I hope you found this presentation helpful
and that you're feeling a little better
prepared for Disability Day on the Hill.
We look forward to seeing you at
Legislative Plaza. You can come down and
come through. We'll have a table, we'll
have maps to get you to where you need to go,
volunteers to assist you if you need,
and many many materials that will help you
on your way to visit with your legislator
and to really make a difference. See you then!

#KNOWTHAT! Ghostlight Project & Broadway Con - Duration: 2:24.Hello! Welcome to the #KNOWTHAT! Vlog.
Here's what's been happening in January...
Two things: 1) Ghostlight, and 2) Broadway Con.
So what's a "Ghostlight"?
You know how when a show is finished at a theatre,
and they turn off all the lights?
Well they put a single light on stage, signifying safety.
So we decided to take that concept of a "Ghostlight"
to signify safety for everyone, as we face many issues
and fight for many reasons, including
race, sexual orientation/gender identity,
country of origin, religion, and disabilities.
We at NYDT pledged to fight for Deaf Talent,
Deaf, for Deaf, by Deaf,
and fully equal accessibility.
We collaborated with IRT and Our Voices theatres,
and we all came together to show that we will
continue to confront adversity, and stand together.
Take a look and see what we did!
Now, here's what we did at Broadway Con!
Hello! #KNOWTHAT! we're at Broadway Con!
Tons of people have flooded in for a variety of different
workshops, panel discussions, performances...
There's so much to see and enjoy here!
I'm actually involved in a panel
discussion about accessibility!
I just want to thank TDF for allowing me
this opportunity to be involved and spread
Deaf awareness and inclusion in theatre!
So thank you, TDF!

Salah Aldeen Bin Ibrahim: Our Prophet Ordered You Not To Drink Standing, Obey Him!!! - Duration: 6:53...Whats even more difficult is the Hadith that prohibits drinking while standing...
Today the whole ummah drinks standing...
Now the whole Islamic ummah! When I say the whole ummah, I mean out of a thousand people, a thousand drink standing! I assure you!
So that is the whole ummah!
The sahih Hadith in the book of Muslim narrated by Abu Hurairah that our prophet (pbuh) prohibited us from drinking while standing!
Not only prohibited (نهى), but also scolded (زجر), and scolding is the strongest form of prohibition, Isn't it!
And our prophet (pbuh) saw a man drinking while standing, he said: would you like a cat to drink with you?
The man said: No!
Then our prophet (pbuh) said: Well how, and a shaytan drank with you!?
Well then how does this ummah have these Hadiths, and you see a man drinking with his left hand while standing?
Why? While the Hadith is present?
You want to know why!?!? Because they see their scholars drink while standing!!!
Well then why do these "scholars" drink standing while the Sunnah is very clear!?!?
Here, I said the book of Muslim! If I had said the books of the Son of Shaibah, or Said Bin Mansour, for example, in the inferred books of the Sunni scholars, then you might say, it might've slipped their hands.......
But here I am telling you.... The book of Muslim!!!!
Because you (Salah Aldin) are afraid, you go find yourself a Hadith and you hold on to it for your life....
But these "scholars" they see the Hadith, then they count 1, 2, 3, 4..... The Hadith is NOT VALID!!! So easy!!! But how!?!?
Because it was narrated in the book of Bukhari, that Ali drank standing at Zamzam...
Then the companions of our prophet (pbuh) renounced his action... Then Ali said, why are you renouncing my actions? I had seen our prophet (pbuh) drinking right here while standing!
According to them this is an evidence... So we said ALRIGHT.... Let's observe....
First: Did you not hear that the companions renounced that? Second: Ali saw him drinking while standing... Or let's say 6 companions of our prophet saw him drinking while standing...
Ok I want to suggest, not only six... but 60 companions witnessed him...Ok, maybe 600..... Maybe not only 600.... 6000 or maybe more, maybe 60,000. Maybe not only 60,000 alll of his companions saw him drinking while standing........
Then he said: DO NOT DRINK WHILE STANDING!
What do you do?
If someone says "Well here... YOU are drinking while standing!"
If our prophet (pbuh) orders you, execute it precisely! If you see him not doing it, it's not your business!!!
WHY? If our prophet (pbuh) told us go EAST!
Then he went West.... Where should we go???
Well then why didn't you go west? HE (pbuh) went west.........
You see? "Well we saw him going west!!!" If you had gone west you had disobeyed him!
Because he said with his tongue "GO EAST!!!"
So now he said "DO NOT DRINK WHILE STANDING!" It is NONE of you business that he (pbuh) drank standing!
So the right thing for a Muslim to do, is not to drink standing!
It is even narrated in the book of Muslim, that our prophet (pbuh) ORDERED he who forgot and drank while standing to induce vomiting!!!
But today you tell him OUR prophet forbade us..... He says: it's permitted brother, It's permitted!
WHY while the prophet (pbuh) forbids us? He says: The "scholars" permitted.... OH GOTCHA! Well....THANK YOU!!
So what you are saying that your Deen is not the Deen of our prophet! Our prophet forbids, and our "scholars" permit!
How do the scholars permit what the prophet (pbuh) forbade? PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME!!!
Due to their excessive KNOWLEDGE!? NO!!!! I'm telling you!
The scholars said it's permitted.... Have you heard of Ibin Taymiyyah!?
Truth be told..... If the four Mathahib state an opinion... Ibin Taymiyyah states the exact opposite...
Today you will see MANY scholars follow the opinion of "the sheikh of Islam" (as they say...) Ibin Taymiyyah!
And they oppose the "ijma3" (إجماع) of the scholars.... For example...
According to the scholars of the time, an unintended oath of divorce counts as a full divorce and they were also of the view that three oaths of divorce taken under one occasion counted as three separate divorces...
Ibin Taymiyyah opposed both opinions, and due to that he was put in prison in Damascus....
Today most scholars are following the opinion of Ibin Taymiyyah, opposing the scholars of that time...
Ok, NOW... Ibin Taymiyyah said the opinion of the scholars at the time was VOID! AND he also said it is FORBIDDEN (HARAM) for a man to drink standing!
So if Salah Aldeen hung on to the Hadith because of his "ignorance"....
Well then why did Ibin Taymiyyah say to scholars that were much more knowledgeable than him that what they see permitted is actually FORBIDDEN!?
And your evidence is incorrect!
And I want to say that the opinion of Ibin Taymiyyah is correct regarding drinking while standing... But in fact I will say that the correct one is our prophet (pbuh)!
And I swear by the one who created Muhammad (pbuh)... if our prophet said one thing, and the entirety of mankind saw him do the opposite of what he said, I will do what he ordered me to do!
Clear my brothers? clear? You don't have the right to say "but i've seen him...."
However, only the companions have the right to say We've seen him do if he didn't say anything...
For example, if the companions said "when our prophet used to make sujud he used to create a gap around him..."
and our prophet didn't say "Make a gap when you pray..." we take the narration of the companions...
HOWEVER, If the prophet (pbuh) said:" don't create a gap when you make sujud..." and the companions said he used to make a gap, we do not make a gap!
Why? It might've been special only for him... So we only take what he ordered us and forbade us to do....

How to Start a Center-Pull Ball of Yarn - Duration: 1:10.I'm going to show you how to start a center pull ball of yarn.
I'm using Vanna's Choice.
First, I'm removing the ball band.
I'll just set it aside since it has all the yarn information.
There are two tails on this ball of yarn.
One is on the inside and the other is on the outside.
First, let's secure the outside tail so it doesn't get caught in the yarn we're going
to be working with.
Then we'll remove the center tail by pinching out the middle of the yarn.
It's ok if you pull out more than just the tail.
If you do, just wind the excess yarn around the outside of the ball.
Now we have our end and we're ready to get stitching.
