The Mind Muscle Connection - Does It Actually Work? - Duration: 3:55.

When lifting, we tend to focus on things such as maintaining good form, performing reps

at a certain speed, or looking at the mirror to see how big our guns are getting.

All these things are external, focusing on things on the outside.

But what about our internal focus?

The Mind-Muscle Connection.

A strategic phenomenon dictating the possibility of increasing neuromuscular drive by "flexing

the brain" to induce greater muscle gains.

When you lift, think of moving and feeling the one muscle that you are targeting.

For example, when you want to target the biceps in a bicep curl, focus your attention onto

the biceps brachii muscle and imagine only that one muscle doing all the work.

You can even flex it a little bit more during the movement to add emphasis.

By employing thought and intentional contraction, more of the power output is shifted from secondary

movers onto the focused muscle.

Well, at least that's the theory.

What do the studies actually say?

One study had subjects perform curl-ups while focusing on either their rectus abdominis

or oblique and found that greater activation coincided with whichever muscle they internally

focused.

If they were told to focus on the abs, the abs activated more.

If they were told to focus on the obliques, the obliques activated more.

Same goes with a study that found significant increases in peak EMG activity in the abs

during a squat, which is leg dominant, when the subjects were told to "brace yourself"

as if you were going to be punched in the stomach.

Another study found increases in glute activity along with decreases in hamstring activity

when young women were told to focus on the glute squeeze during a lying hip extension.

And the list goes on and on about increased activity of an internally focused muscle even

though sometimes that doesn't necessarily decrease the activity of secondary muscle

groups.

But yada yada yada, study this, study that, whatever.

Let's ask the important question: Does it give me more of dem sweet ol GAINZ.

Although there are no direct studies that link the mind-muscle phenomena to muscle hypertrophy,

increased activity certainly indicates that possibility.

One study observed different regions of the triceps brachii muscle while performing a

certain triceps extension exercise and noted that certain parts of the muscle had greater

activation than others.

Subjects were told to perform this same exercise for 12 weeks then measured the growth of the

muscle.

And with confirmation, the triceps muscle did in fact had greater muscle growth in the

areas with the greatest muscle activation.

They went ahead and tested other triceps exercises that had different degrees of activation and

found the same results.

Now whether this applies to all muscles remain to be seen, but for now, it's safe to say

that activation certainly can contribute to growth.

So, does that mean you should now employ a mind-muscle connection to all of your lifts?

Well, no, your focus should first and foremost be proper form, especially for beginners who

need a lot of form work to begin with and will see gains for doing pretty much anything

anyway.

And you need to consider the level of intensity as well.

As you lift closer to your maximal effort, the ability to focus on the mind-muscle connection

is overridden with the increased focus of just moving the darn weight in the first place.

If you're going heavy, forget mind-muscle connection and just move the weight.

But lucky for you, going heavy is usually an emphasis for improving strength anyway.

You want gainz right?

Well, then studies give you a big thumbs up as the greatest activation from internal focus

occurs at a moderate intensity aptly in line with the so-called hypertrophy range.

So, if you decide to deploy the magic of muscle-mind connection, make sure you get your proper

form first, AND don't go too heavy.

And go ahead and stop using your brain trying to decipher this video and use that brain

to deliver all them gainz.

Like and share the video if you enjoyed and don't forget to subscribe.

Thanks for watching!

Dealing With The Non Team Player - Duration: 2:09.

Hi there everybody.

Sarah brought a question up and I think it's a great one for everybody to share.

Sarah's in an environment where there are very clear expectations on the results that

are needed, but it is a collaborative team environment.

It's not individually employee specific.

She has an employee that for lack of a better term, just seems to be lazy.

Sarah, what you have is great expectations but you have that murky environment of roles,

shall we say.

How you breakthrough that is you get hyper specific with what you see.

This person is already taking advantage of the gray area of a team environment, and we've

all had those team projects where one person, two people aren't doing anything and everybody

else is doing everything else.

We all can relate to that, but get specific on what you see.

What behaviors are they demonstrating that lead you to believe that they aren't pulling

their weight, shall we say.

You shine a light on that gray area as much as possible.

That makes it so that they can't hide their behavior from them.

Address those specifics that goes for all feedback.

The other thing that you want to do Sarah is shine a light on the good things that they

are doing.

I would assure you that in almost all of those cases where we had those team projects and

somebody was lazy, they always stepped up at some certain point.

They weren't lazy 100% of the time.

There was always the beginning, or it was at the end, or at some key point they stepped

up.

What you want to do is shine a light on that as well.

That's a motivation technique, is you recognize what you want to see more of.

Catch somebody doing something right and recognize them.

There'll be more likely with that positive feedback to do it again.

You're shining a light on the negative things that you see, and you're shining a light on

the positive things that you see, and get specific with those things.

That's how you breakthrough that gray area of a team project Sarah.

I wish you the best of luck on that.

That's a tough situation to be in, but I think with those two things you'll be able to move

it forward.

Thanks so much.

Triathlon Taren Day in the Life Announcement - Duration: 8:00.

Hey what's up triathletes, Taren here.

That one and that one.

Stick around because today we are changing the entire YouTube triathlon channel up.

You're going to want to know why.

If you've been a fan of triathlon Taren, A, thank you very much, and B, you may have heard

over the last couple of months that I've been thinking about rolling out a bit of a vlog

style.

A bit of a triathlon training day in the life of triathlon Taren.

In talking to a lot of you over the last little while, I've found out that i think we've got

a really good formula.

Today, as in tomorrow, February 1st, 2017, because today is last day in January.

In vlog terms I got to start thinking a day forward.

Always going to be living in the future.

I want to announce what's happening.

That's right.

February 1st, 2017 is going to be the very first Triathlon Taren daily vlog.

We're not saying goodbye to this set up, we're just saying that things are going to change

a little bit.

I'm going to tell you why.

Let's go over here, get a little bit more intimate with things.

There we go.

Crispy as ... Okay, so yeah.

We are turning Triathlon Taren into a daily vlog.

Now a lot of the feedback that I got early on was, "No, we still want triathlon tips."

I'm here to assure you that you're still going to get triathlon tips, and if anything you're

going to get more.

That's the idea with going daily here.

What I was finding is that the brick background, as beautiful a brick background as it is,

it was kind of impersonal and I wasn't able to give tips on things that just kind of came

up in the comment section, or questions that I would get on Instagram.

I would only be able to do videos on things that were like big, long five, ten tip productions.

I couldn't just kind of talk about the day to day triathlon-ism's, and because I was

only doing two videos a week I couldn't put out the amount of volume that everyone was

asking for.

There were so many questions that I couldn't get to them.

What's it's going to be is every single day you'll follow me through my triathlon training.

You'll be in the workout, and we're going to tell you what that workout is so that if

you don't have a coach, you get a workout that day and you can follow along and do the

workout with me.

You get a training plan.

Later on in the vlog each day, I'll walk through why that workout was the way it was so that

you're also getting tips.

Then as things pop up, injuries, new workout methods, things that I learn, in some cases

special guests.

I'm starting to get requests from companies asking me to do tours of their factory, interviews

with pro-triathletes that have been reaching out to me, all of this can come later in the

vlog.

Every single day you're going to be able to get a little tid bit of training, a workout

that you can do, and a little bit of a triathlon tip, something about the triathlon lifestyle.

There's still going to be unboxings, there's going to be reviews, there's going to be interviews,

there's going to be tips, there's going to be all kinds of good triathlon stuff, not

just following me around watching me eat salad and drink coffee.

Okay, so for today we're going to do an unboxing, because I got a new set of shoes.

Hang on, hang on.

Yep, yep, yep.

They're two big boxes that just came, and I think I know what's in them.

Actually I can guarantee I know what's in them.

I don't know what color though.

We have here the sketchers performance, Los Angeles mara- no.

Title sponsor of the Los Angeles marathon.

Okay, which one are these?

In here, I believe also from Sketchers, more Sketchers.

More Sketchers.

Now that's spicy.

What we've got here, this is the GOmeb.

This is more of like a racing flat, super light.

The GoRun 5.

That looks like kind of in between a racing flat and a big built up trainer.

This is the GOmeb Razor.

I really like the colors of that one and that one.

I think we're going to go give this one a try right now, TempoRun.

Let's do it.

That's how good your parking spot is when you ride your bike to work in Winnipeg and

look like this in the Winter.

We got some mail from Sketchers.

Taren, Hi.

Hi.

So great that we have connected with you and thank you for the opportunity to share our

performance shoes with you.

I hope you love them and they help you run super fast.

I'm about to, Sketchers.

Another pair are on their way.

Already got them.

Just thought to send these first, enjoy.

Kaitlin.

I will.

If you're from Canada, check out Sketchers performance Canada on Instagram, at Sketchers

Performance Canada.

Twitter is @SketchersPerfCan.

You know you're perf, Can.

All right, run time.

All right, run over.

Two things that I need to know.

Number one, these are officially called the Sketchers Gomeb speed two.

This is their most aggressive racing flat.

First impressions, sizing is bang on.

They're really stiff when I'm just walking, but they're made to go fast.

These things are nice, light, and one you start moving ... I was a big fan.

Second thing, that workout was a tempo workout in the middle of the week.

While we get shorter workouts in, we do speed work.

What we did there was two miles at whatever warmup pace is, and then three times one mile

at tempo pace, with a two minute rest in between those.

Tempo pace is like a little bit slower than 10K race pace, and in my case I'm training

for a half iron man.

That's like right in between 10K race pace, half iron man, half marathon kind of pace.

During the middle of the week while these runs are shorter, we do them a little bit

faster.

Keep the legs quick.

They're fast.

I'm going to end vlog number one like that today.

See ya.

A Mystery 'VOID' is PUSHING our Galaxy through the universe at 1 2 million mph - Duration: 4:52.

A Mystery VOID is PUSHING our Galaxy through

the universe at 1.2 million mph.

For the first time ever, experts researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have

found that not only is our galaxy being PULLED, it also is being PUSHED by something.

A new study recently published in Nature Astronomy describes a previously UNKNOWN, supermassive

region in our extragalactic neighborhood largely empty of galaxies, which is exerting a REPELLING

FORCE on our local group of galaxies.

Even though you may think you are still, you never are.

Did you know that you are actually living on a planet that spins on its own axis, orbiting

a star (our Sun) which is orbiting a galaxy which in turn is moving at mind-boggling speed?

Even though you may not feel it, everything is in constant motion:

Our planet spins on its axis at about 1,600 km/h; it orbits around the sun at about 100,000

km/h; the sun orbits our Milky Way galaxy at about 850,000 km/h; and the Milky Way galaxy

and its companion galaxy Andromeda are moving with respect to the expanding universe at

roughly 2 million km/h (630 km per second).

But what is propelling the Milky Ways race through space?

It turns out that there is a MYSTERY VOID which is literally pushing the Milky Way through

the universe at a mind-bending speed of 1.2 Million miles per hour.

Push and pull: Illustration by Daniel Pomarde shows the Shapley Attractor and the Dipole

Reppeler.

Previously, experts thought that our galaxy was speeding through the universe because

it was being pulled to a specific, dense part of the universe due to that regions gravity.

However, a new study has shown differently.

It turns out that the Milky Way is being swung across the universe by a so-called EXTRAGALACTIC

VOID, in a process scientists call a kind of galactic tug-of-war.

While our galaxies journey through space has remained a mystery for decades, a new three-dimensional

map has offered new insight into the mystery.

Previously, experts believed that a dense region of the universe was pulling our galaxy

toghether with neighboring galaxiestowards it which its gravity: believed to be equivalent

to a gravitational force equivalent to a million billion suns.

The culprit: The Great Attractor, a region of clusters of galaxies 150 million light

years from the Milky Way.

However, researchers from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem now say that not only is our

galaxy being PULLED, it also is being PUSHED by something.

A new study recently published in Nature Astronomy describes a previously UNKNOWN, supermassive

region in our extragalactic neighborhood largely empty of galaxies, which is exerting a REPELLING

FORCE on our local group of galaxies.

Professor Yehuda Hoffman, lead author of the paper says: By 3D mapping the flow of galaxies

through space, we found that our Milky Way galaxy is speeding away from a large, previously

unidentified region of low density.

Furthermore, Professor Hoffman explains:

Because it repels rather than attracts, we call this region the Dipole Repeller.

In addition to being pulled towards the known Shapley Concentration, we are also being pushed

away from the newly discovered Dipole Repeller.

Thus it has become apparent that push and pull are of comparable importance at our location.

With the aid of super-powerful telescopes, including the world-famous Hubble Space Telescope,

researchers were able to create a 3D map of our universe.

The newly generated map helped experts identify the so-called Dipole Repeller, and researchers

were able to reconcile both the direction of the Milky Ways motion.

You Paid For It: Governor Scott proposes his biggest budget ever for restoring beaches - Duration: 3:04.

GOVERNOR RICK SCOTT WANTS

ERODED BY NATURE.

HIS PROPOSAL OF $127 MILLION

FOR BEACH RENOURISHMENT AND

HURRICANE REPAIRS IS SOMETHING

YOU WILL PAY FOR AND THAT IS

WHY MARK IS ON IT TONIGHT.

HERE'S THE BIG QUESTION, IS

THAT A GOOD USE OF TAXPAYER

MONEY?

IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE EXPLORING?

THE GOVERNOR SURE THINKS SO,

STACIE BUT EVEN AT ITS BEST,

BEACH RENOURISHMENT IS A

TEMPORARY SOLUTION FOR A

PERMANENT PROBLEM.

TOURISM AND JOBS ARE THE

REASONS THE GOVERNOR SUPPORTS

IT.

PINELLAS COUNTY PLANS TO SPEND

$30 MILLION LATER THIS YEAR

PUMPING SAND ON TO NEARLY 9

MILES OF SAND KEY.

NOW THE GOVERNOR WANTS TO ADD

ANOTHER $50 MILLION FOR

STATEWIDE FUNDING OF BEACH

RENOURISHMENT AND A FUND OF $70

MILLION FOR MORE.

AT SOME POINT IS BEACH

RENOURISHMENT NOT GOING TO MAKE

SENSE WITH RISING SEAS AND

BEACH EROSION?

I LIVE IN NAPLES, I THINK

IT'S VERY IMPORTANT.

Reporter: THE GOVERNOR

NEVER DID ANSWER THE RISING

SEAS QUESTION BUT HE LOVES

BEACHES.

GOVERNOR SCOTT INSISTS BEACHES

MEAN TOURISM AND TOURISM MEANS

JOBS AND IN HIS VIEW, THAT'S

WELL WORTH THE $127 MILLION OF

YOUR MONEY THAT HE WANTS TO

SPEND THIS YEAR ON SAND.

WE GOT TO KEEP THEM UP.

WE'VE GOT TO CONTINUE TO FUND

VISIT FLORIDA, BECAUSE THAT

HELPS MARKET OUR STATE.

ALL THESE THINGS GET US JOBS.

Reporter: PINELLAS COUNTY

SPENDS ABOUT $10 MILLION A YEAR

ON ITS OWN, MOST OF IT COMING

FROM BED TAXES PAID BY

TOURISTS.

COUNTY PLANNERS HOPE SOME OF

THE $150 MILLION OF YOUR MONEY

THAT THE GOVERNOR WANTS TO

SPEND WE WILL GO TO RENOURISH

TREASURE ISLAND BEACH.

GOVERNOR SCOTT HAS NEVER

PROPOSED SPENDING THIS MUCH ON

BEACHES THE ENTIRE TIME IN HIS

OFFICE BUT LOCAL PLANNERS

INSIST THAT MUCH MONEY ISN'T

STILL ENOUGH.

OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS,

THE NEED HAS BEEN $100 MILLION

A YEAR.

Reporter: ULTIMATELY, IT

WILL BE UP TO FLORIDA

LAWMAKERS.

STILL HAS TO GET THROUGH THE

LEGISLATURE IS THAT GOING TO

HAPPEN?

TIME WILL TELL.

WE HOPE SO.

Reporter: SOME OF THE BEACH

RENOURISHMENT PROJECTS HAVE TO

BE DONE AS FREQUENTLY AS EVERY

THREE YEARS AND EVERY TIMES IT

COSTS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS THAT

YOU PAID FOR, STACIE.

WE KNOW THAT, DON'T WE.

ONE OF THE RUBS IS HERE YOU

HAVE PRIVATE RESIDENCES,

PRIVATE BEACHES, SO DO THEY

REAP THE BENEFITS?

IF YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO

HAVE A BUSINESS OR A HOME ON

THE BEACH, LIKE OUR GOVERNOR

DOES, THEN YOU CERTAINLY GET

THE BENEFIT OF IT IF THEY

HAPPEN TO REPLENISH YOUR BEACH.

Reading Strategy: Scanning - Duration: 6:05.

Hi, this is Morag from Academic Skills.

In this video we're going to apply a scanning strategy while reading.

First, let's think about why we might use a scanning strategy.

Scanning is useful if you need to find specific information quickly.

You might be looking for answers to specific questions

for example how many participants were included in the study?

Or, you might want to determine if

a paper is relevant for your purposes.

In this case you're looking for

the frequency of keywords in the text.

The more frequently your keywords appear

the more relevant that paper is likely to be.

For example, if your topic relates to gender equality in the workplace

you'd want these phrases or their synonyms

to appear often in the text.

It is not appropriate if you need to gain in-depth knowledge of a text.

So, how do you scan?

First, as with all reading tasks

we need to identify our purpose.

in this case, what information we need to find.

This could be key terms or phrases, concepts, or particular sections.

For example, if you wanted to know how many participants were involved in the study

you can go directly to the methods section.

Next, scan the text by running your eye quickly over the page

looking only for the information you need

Ignore everything else and don't read every word.

When you find what you're looking for

read the information or sentences around it.

Finally, decide if this paper is relevant to your purpose.

Does it answer your questions?

Is it specific enough to your task?

If yes, read in more detail,

if not, discard it and move on.

Let's imagine that we are writing a paper

on the topic of interpersonal strategies in online interactions.

We have brainstormed the topic and

identified specific questions we need the answers to,

and then located an article we think contains the information we need.

In a moment, we're going to scan the

discussion section of this paper to find

the answers to these questions.

Remember, don't try to read every word.

Run your eyes over the paper until you notice the keywords you're looking for.

Let's start with the first question.

Pause the video and try to scan the text as quickly as possible to find an example of a passive information-seeking strategy.

when you've found it restart the video.

How did you do? Did you find it quickly?

Here's how I approached this task.

From the question I identified the key term as "passive information strategy"

I scanned, looking only for that expression.

Once I found it, I noticed the phrase "such as"

indicating an example would follow.

I continued reading and found the answer.

Let's try the second question.

Pause the video and scan to find the answer.

Did you find the information more quickly that time?

I identified the keywords as

"relationship stage", "investment", "intimacy", and "low"

and scanned until I noticed them.

The first time I came across relationship stages

I read around it and disregarded this instance

as it seemed to focus on active or passive strategies,

not investment and intimacy.

The second instance doesn't relate to the topic either,

but as it's in the topic sentence that tells me that the answer might be in this paragraph.

Finally, I noticed the words intimacy and investment are typically low,

and went back for the beginning of that sentence to find the answer.

Ok, question 3. Read the question, pause the video

and see how quickly you can find the answer.

Getting quicker?

Here's the key phrase and here are the three types.

Let's move on to question four.

Pause the video and scan to find the answer.

Here's the phrase we're looking for "unexpected finding".

and at the end of that sentence, the answer.

If you're wondering how much to read around the text

once you find it or when to stop reading,

use your knowledge of paragraph structure.

For instance, that we tend to make the main point first,

then give reasons and examples,

or language signposts, such as "however" or "for example"

In this case as we're only looking for the answer, not the explanation,

we can stop reading at "one reason".

Hopefully you're getting quicker now

For the final time, pause the video scan to find the answer and then restart the video.

So, the first time we see active strategies is here

but there was no mention of acceptability near this instance so I moved on.

It appears again here, but relates to frequency.

Here, the fact that active strategies appears as the subject of the topic sentence

is a strong indication that the answer may be in this section.

I kept reading and found it here - "most acceptable",

followed by the answer.

Hopefully these activities have shown you

that by scanning the text we were

able to find the information we needed quickly,

without having to read the whole text.

So, let's sum up.

Scanning is a useful strategy when you need to find specific information quickly,

not when you need to understand the whole text.

First, identify what you're looking for before you read.

You might also want to consider where

in the text you might find that information.

Next, scan by running your eyes over the text quickly,

looking only for what you need.

Read the sentences around that information

and finally, make a judgment about if the text is useful or relevant for your purpose

If you don't find what you're looking for discard the text.

If what you're looking for appears frequently,

it might be more efficient to read the whole paper.

If you decide to read the whole text

you'll need to apply a different reading strategy.

You might want to take a look at our resources

on critical reading and skimming to help you with this.

You can find them on our website,

along with other resources to help you develop your academic skills.

The Great Dictator Speech - Charles Chaplin - 2017 Dramatic Reading by Craig Allen Heath - Duration: 4:50.

I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an emperor.

That's not my business.

I don't want to rule or conquer anyone.

I should like to help everyone - if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white.

We all want to help one another.

Human beings are like that.

We want to live by each other's happiness - not by each other's misery.

We don't want to hate and despise one another.

In this world there is room for everyone.

And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone.

The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us

into misery and bloodshed.

We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in.

Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want.

Our knowledge has made us cynical.

Our cleverness, hard and unkind.

We think too much and feel too little.

More than machinery we need humanity.

More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness.

Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost....

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together.

The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men - cries out for

universal brotherhood - for the unity of us all.

Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world - millions of despairing men, women,

and little children - victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me, I say - do not despair.

The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who

fear the way of human progress.

The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will

return to the people.

And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.

Soldiers! don't give yourselves to brutes - men who despise you - enslave you - who

regiment your lives - tell you what to do - what to think and what to feel!

Who drill you - diet you - treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder.

Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine

hearts!

You are not machines!

You are not cattle!

You are men!

You have the love of humanity in your hearts!

You don't hate!

Only the unloved hate - the unloved and the unnatural!

Soldiers!

Don't fight for slavery!

Fight for liberty!

In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: "the Kingdom of God is within man" -

- not one man nor a group of men, but in all men!

In you!

You, the people have the power - the power to create machines.

The power to create happiness!

You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life

a wonderful adventure.

Then - in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite.

Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work -

that will give youth a future and old age a security.

By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power.

But they lie!

They do not fulfil that promise.

They never will!

Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people!

Now let us fight to fulfil that promise!

Let us fight to free the world - to do away with national barriers - to do away with greed,

with hate and intolerance.

Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all

men's happiness.

Soldiers! in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

9 Facts About NEPTUNE You Didn't Know - Duration: 3:08.

9 facts about neptune you didn't know

Number 9

Neptune is the fourth largest planet in our solar system.

About 60 Earths could fit inside.

Neptune was discovered by Jean Joseph Le Verrier.

Neptune is named for the Roman god of the sea.

It takes Neptune 164.8 Earth years to orbit the Sun.

On 11 July 2011, Neptune completed its first full orbit since its discovery in 1846.

The largest Neptunian moon, Triton, was discovered just 17 days after Neptune itself was discovered.

Number 8

Neptune is the Most Distant Planet This may sound like a pretty simple statement, but

its actually rather complicated.

When it was first discovered by in 1846, Neptune became the most distant planet in the Solar

System.

But then in 1930, Pluto was discovered, and Neptune became the second-most distant planet.

But Plutos orbit is very elliptical; and so there are periods when Pluto actually orbits

closer to the Sun than Neptune.

The last time this happened was in 1979, which lasted until 1999.

During that period, Neptune was again the most distant planet.

Number 7

Neptune has a very active climate.

Large storms whirl through its upper atmosphere, and high-speed winds track around the planet

at up 600 meters per second.

One of the largest storms ever seen was recorded in 1989.

It was called the Great Dark Spot.

It lasted about five years.

Number 6

The Great Dark Spot in the southern atmosphere of Neptune was first discovered in 1989 by

the Voyager 2 spacecraft.

It was an incredibly large rotating storm system with winds of upto 1,500 miles per

hour, the strongest winds recorded on any planet.

How such powerful winds were discovered on a planet so far from the sun is still considered

a mystery to this day.

Number 5

Only one spacecraft, the Voyager 2, has flown past Neptune.

It happened in 1989 and captured the first close-up images of the Neptunian system.

It took 246 minutes or you can say four hours and six minutes for signals from Voyager

2 to reach back to Earth.

Number 4

Neptune also has a second storm called the Small Dark Spot.

This storm is around the same size as Earths moon.

Number 3

Neptune is the smallest of the ice giants.

Despite being smaller than Uranus, Neptune has a greater mass.

Below its heavy atmosphere, Neptune is made of layers of hydrogen, helium, and methane

gases.

They enclose a layer of water, ammonia and methane ice.

The inner core of the planet is made of rock.

Number 2

Neptune has 14 moons.

The most interesting moon is Triton, a frozen world that is spewing nitrogen ice and dust

particles out from below its surface.

It was likely captured by the gravitational pull of Neptune.

It is probably the coldest world in the solar system.

Number 1

Neptune has a very thin collection of rings.

They are likely made up of ice particles mixed with dust grains and possibly coated with

a carbon-based substance.

What Is The Difference Between A Domain Name And A Website? | GoDaddy - Duration: 2:29.

Hi there.

In this video, you'll learn the difference between a domain and a website.

While domains and websites are closely connected, they are two very different things.

After registering a domain, you need to do something with it, put it to work for you.

Your domain can be used for a website, for an email account, or for both.

You can, however, register a domain and choose NOT to use it for a website or an email account,

BUT you can't have a website or an email account without a domain.

When used for a website, your domain name is what people type into their browser to find your site —

this is why they are sometimes referred to as web addresses.

So godaddy.com is the domain used for GoDaddy's website.

Registering a domain, however, doesn't automatically create a website —

it only means that you've registered the domain.

So for example, if you decided to start your own business and you thought of great name for it,

you might copyright the name to protect it.

However, simply giving your business a name is only one of many steps that go into building your business.

In the same manner, when you register a domain and want to use it for a website,

you'll need to first build the website, and then find a host for it, so it can be visible on the Web.

What's a host?

Website hosts are companies that house, serve, and maintain files for one or more websites.

Think of a website hosting company like a shopping center that contains several individual stores.

If you want to open a store at the shopping center, you can lease space and set up shop.

Just like a shopping center,

website hosting companies enable you to lease space on their web servers,

where you can store your website files and make them available for visitors to view.

Because you've registered your domain, you can use it at any web hosting company you want.

Remember your store in the shopping center?

Suppose you decided to move your store and lease space at a different shopping center.

If you packed up your products and moved to a new location,

you would still be able to use the same name for your store.

The same is true for your domain —

regardless of where you decided to host your website's files,

your domain remains yours for the duration of your registration.

GoDaddy is both a domain registrar AND a website hosting company —

and we have the tools to help you build your website.

This means you can register your domain name,

build a website for it,

and get it on the web —

all in one place!

Do you already have a domain name?

Don't just let it sit there;

do something with it!

My Body Changed - Duration: 3:03.

I had breakfast earlier today with my friend James.

And I didn't get to wash my face.

And so I figured I could wash my face

while talking to all of you.

Quality content.

I use this to put on...

to keep my hair out of my face when I do my makeup.

But sometimes I use it for washing my face.

I don't remember where I bought it.

But it's my favorite thing.

Ugh why does my mouth smell...

So I wanted to talk to you about something recent

that has been going on with my body.

Before I moved to California,

um

I wasn't really in a lot of pain in Florida.

I had my normal back pain

but it wasn't to the point where it was hard to walk around places.

I did take breaks every now and then when my legs

felt tired but

for the most part, I never felt

exhausted.

When I moved out here, that changed.

Suddenly my body just

started always being in pain.

When I moved out here, I had a very high fever.

And after that broke, I've just always been in constant pain.

And I didn't really know why, I didn't know if

it was just because I moved here.

Or that everything is so...

spread apart and I have to walk everywhere.

But it really put a toll on me.

I took way more Motrin than I took in Florida.

But so far

today is day 6 or 7.

I haven't been in that kind of pain.

My body

feels like it did in Florida.

And I don't know if that's because

the weather is changing again.

It's going back to being warm.

Or that my body just finally adjusted.

But I'm really happy that I'm not in a lot of pain.

That I can walk now, to the store

and it's fine.

And I'm still tired, and I still have my normal pain.

But I finally feel like

my body's functioning.

Which I haven't felt since I've moved out here.

Hold on, I gotta rinse my face.

(water running)

So, I don't know what it is.

And I'm scared that like

me getting comfortable

that I'm not in the pain that I was in,

when I moved out here.

I'm scared that it's going to go away.

And I'm going to go back to being in a ton of pain.

I still take the precautions that I need to do

to make sure I

don't overexert myself.

Because

sometimes, when I'm not in a lot of pain

I tend to do more than I think

and then that really hurts my body.

So I'm still taking Mortin, I still have back pain.

But my legs are feeling good.

My whole body is

feeling a lot better than it did.

It's been like a week and I'm just

very happy and I hope this continues.

Because I miss how my body was back in Florida.

Well my face is washed and dried and I have lotion.

I feel good.

And thank you for watching.

And I'll see all of you next Wednesday.

bye!

Thank you for watching.

EPIC YEAR TRAVELING THE SOUTH PACIFIC | 2016 HIGHLIGHTS - Duration: 4:51.

Hey there!

My name is Ryan Wilkes and welcome to The Path Less Traveled.

At the beginning of 2015, I was working as an engineer in the oil and gas industry in

Canada.

I had great colleagues and the best boss, but something was missing.

I felt that I wasn't making an impact on a greater scale.

So I took action.

In June 2015, I packed up and moved to New Zealand in order to pursue a PhD in Biomedical

Engineering, to create medical devices that can improve the lives of others.

Moving to New Zealand reignited my passion for travel, and in January 2016 I started

making vlogs for my family and friends back home.

I immediately fell in love with videography, and The Path Less Traveled was born.

In 2016, Jillian and I slept on top of mountains, hung with wild penguins, and swam with humpback

whales.

I am addicted to growth.

I thrive off of change.

This is why I love to travel so much.

I welcome the persistent presence of the unknown.

The constant exposure to new people, ideas and environments force me to reflect on my

own beliefs, and to either find strength in them, or to consider new ones due to compelling

evidence against them.

My hope is that these moving pictures and my own growth, inspire you to seek out uncomfortable

situations of your own.

Whether its talking to the guy or girl you see on the bus every day, or quitting that

job you hate to pursue something you love, or going to the gym for the first time, or

cutting ties with someone who is poisonous to your personal development.

All of these things are examples of taking the path less traveled, and all will results

in a wiser, stronger, better you.

Don't be afraid to take the path less traveled.
