CNN 10 - 2017/01/20 - English Sub - Duration: 10:01.

CARL AZUZ, CNN 10 ANCHOR: Hi. I'm Carl Azuz, welcoming you to today's special edition of CNN 10.

January 20th is inauguration day in America, the day when President-elect Donald Trump becomes the 45th leader of the United States.

As we've talked about earlier this week, a lot is going on in Washington, D.C. today.

The president-elect is expected to attend the service at St. John's Church.

Then, he'll officially become the president.

Then, he'll deliver his inauguration speech, have lunch with the Senate,

attend the inaugural parade, go to an inaugural ball, or several.

But what we're going to focus on in today's edition of CNN 10 is that moment

when an elected leader goes from being the president-elect to the president.

It centers on a 35-word passage located in Article II Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution.

FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT, FORMER PRESIDENT: I, Franklin Delano Roosevelt --

CALVIN COOLIDGE, FORMER PRESIDENT: I, Calvin Coolidge --

LYNDON B. JOHNSON, FORMER PRESIDNET: I, Lyndon Baines Johnson --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Do solemnly swear --

JOHN F. KENNEDY, FORMER PRESIDENT: Do solemnly swear --

GERALD FORD, FORMER PRESIDENT: That I will faithfully execute --

RONALD REAGAN, FORMER PRESIDENT: The Office of President of the United States --

NARRATOR: It's this moment --

GEORGE H.W. BUSH, FORMER PRESIDENT: And will to the best of my ability --

WILLIAM J. CLINTON, FORMER PRESIDENT: To the best of my ability --

NARRATOR: It's these words --

KENNEDY: Preserve --

JIMMY CARTER, FORMER PRESIDENT: Protect --

NIXON: And defend --

NARRATOR: Once spoken --

GEORGE H. BUSH: The Constitution of the United States --

BARACK OBAMA, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: Of the United States.

NARRATOR: -- that have the power to transform any citizen into a president.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I'm ready to administer the oath.

NARRATOR: To tell the story of the presidential oath of office,

let's start at the beginning with this guy, the old $ bill himself, George Washington, or the next best thing.

As our nation's first president, he was the first to recite the oath back on April 30th, 1789.

GEORGE WASHINGTON: I, George Washington --

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Do solemnly swear --

GEORGE WASHINGTON: Do solemnly swear --

NARRATOR: The oath of office is written into the United States Constitution,

and it's the only part meant to be administered word for word.

ROOSEVELT: -- preserve, protect, and defend --

NARRATOR: The framers carefully added these specific 35 words as the binding pledge a new president makes to the country.

KENNEDY: And I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States.

NARRATOR: And Washington was the first person ever to get a crack at it.

GEORGE WASHINGTON: And I will, to the best of my ability --

NARRATOR: He took the oath at Federal Hall in New York City.

But these days, most presidents take it outside the US Capitol.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The Office of President of the United States.

GEORGE W. BUSH: The Office of President of the United States.

NARRATOR: The Constitution doesn't say who has to administer the oath, but generally, it's the Chief Justice.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: The Constitution of the United States.

NARRATOR: It was Washington's idea to kiss the Bible,

and almost every president after him did the same, that is, until the Dwight Eisenhower decided enough of that.

He put the tradition to rest in 1953 and said a prayer instead.

DWIGHT EISENHOWER: That Thou will make full and complete.

GEORGE WASHINGTON: So help me, God.

NARRATOR: Now, that line is up for debate.

The words "So help me, God" are not written in the Constitution.

And historians are not sure whether Washington was the first to say them,

but most presidents have added them to the end of their oath.

NIXON: So, help me, God.

NARRATOR: Fast forward two centuries later, the oath remains a very sacred tradition in our country.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Preserve, protect, and defend --

CARTER: The Constitution of the United States --

REAGAN: So help me, God.

DOUGLAS BRINKLEY, PRESIDENTIAL HISTORIAN: This is the grand theater and the grand spectacle of watching a democracy at work,

where an entire government hands over a baton to the next government.

It does not happen until the words of the oath are uttered.

ROOSEVELT: That I will faithfully execute --

CLINTON: The Office of President of the United States.

NIXON: Preserve, protect, and defend.

BRINKLEY: And the words matter.

You have to say the words correctly.

And if it goes sideways, you're going to have to do a do-over like Barack Obama did.

NARRATOR: Yes, Barack Obama had a redo in 2009.

BRINKLEY: The oath of office went sideways, largely for Supreme Court Justice Roberts' mistake.

JOHN ROBERTS, SUPREME COURT JUSTICE: Are you prepared to take the oath, Senator?

BARACK OBAMA: I am.

BRINKLEY: President Obama started taking the oath, but Justice Roberts' language was different than what Obama was thinking.

ROBERTS: -- swear--

BARACK OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear --

BRINKLEY: They were kind of counterposing each other.

And they would go back and forth.

And it was an awkward moment.

ROBERTS: That I will execute the Office of the President of the United States faithfully --

BARACK OBAMA: That I will execute --

ROBERTS: The -- faithfully the President -- the Office of President of the United States --

BARACK OBAMA: -- the office of the President of the United of States faithfully.

DOUGLAS BRINKLEY: Immediately, people called it a botched oath.

Some people even questioned, is President Obama a real president?

JEFFREY TOOBIN, AUTHOR OF THE OATH: THE OBAMA WHITE HOUSE AND THE SUPREME COURT: The next morning,

a new Justice Department official named David Barron called the White House counsel and said,

you know, we might want to think about doing this again.

And that's what set in motion the redo later that day.

I would describe the atmosphere in the White House as kind of sheepish.

Everyone was kind of embarrassed to have to do this again.

NARRATOR: Four years later, he took it two more times, but that's because in 2013, January 20th landed on a Sunday.

When that happens, the president-elect takes the oath privately in the White House and then publicly the next day.

SASHA OBAMA: Good job, Daddy.

BARACK OBAMA: I did it.

SASHA OBAMA: You didn't mess up.

NARRATOR: In all, Obama has taken the oath four times.

The only other president to take the oath that many times is FDR,

but that's only because he was elected president four times.

A little different.

Of course, Obama isn't the only president whose swearing-in ceremony has been a little bit weird.

For example, it didn't go so smoothly for President Truman in 1935.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Vice President Harry S. Truman takes the oath of office as 32nd president.

NARRATOR: There's no audio of it, but when Harry S. Truman took the oath, Chief Justice Harlan Stone said,

"I, Harry Ship Truman." But Stone made that up.

Truman's middle name was just the letter S.

WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT: Faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States.

NARRATOR: It also wasn't perfect for Herbert Hoover in 1929.

WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT: To the best of your ability that you will preserve, maintain, and defend.

NARRATOR: It's subtle, but did you pick up on that?

Chief Justice William Howard Taft said "maintain" instead of protect the Constitution.

WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT: The Constitution of the United States.

NARRATOR: In 1909, when Taft himself was sworn in, his oath was also misquoted.

JOHN ROBERTS: And will, to the best of my ability --

BARACK OBAMA: And will, to the best of my ability --

NARRATOR: While those earlier administrations played a little fast and loose with the oath, Obama's camp felt differently.

TOOBIN: Obama himself had nothing to do with the decision to redo the oath.

It was the people around him.

His aides, who knew that politically as much as legally, it was very important to establish his legitimacy.

They knew he was the first African-American.

They knew these false questions had been raised about his birthplace.

So they decided, let's foreclose any controversy and redo the whole thing.

NARRATOR: Maybe we should just go back to the way they administered the oath in the 1800s.

BEN ZIMMER, LINGUIST: Originally, whoever was administering the oath would ask it as a question.

Do you, such and such, solemnly swear?

And then the person would respond just by saying, I do, or I do solemnly swear.

HERBERT HOOVER: I do.

ZIMMER: In more modern times, the new president actually repeats every single word.

NARRATOR: Sure, it may seem like a lot of pomp and circumstance, but in the end, it is so much bigger than that.

Because even when all the fanfare is stripped away, even in a simple home like Chester Arthur --

JOHNSON: -- will to the best of my ability --

NARRATOR: -- on-board a plane in a time of crisis like Lyndon Johnson,

even behind closed doors at the White House to make up for a mistake --

BARACK OBAMA: I will to the best of my ability --

NARRATOR: -- it really is all about the oath.

Thirty-five words with the power to make a president, and hopefully, unite the country.

AZUZ: Today's swearing in ceremony happens at noon Eastern Time,

and as we said, there will be other inaugural events going on throughout the day.

You can watch it all live at CNN.com.

And when we return on Monday, we'll have full coverage from today's presidential inauguration.

I'm Carl Azuz and though I take the obligation freely to host CNN 10, this is the end of my address today.

Looking forward to seeing you again on Monday.

Why cartoon characters wear gloves - Duration: 4:57.

This is the VHS for An Extremely Goofy Movie.

It's the follow up to the cult classic A Goofy Movie and it's one of my favorite animated films.

Now, there's a moment in this movie where Bobby Zimmeruski, Max's stoner friend —

You know, the one that chugs Cheese Wiz?

He says, "Do you ever wonder why we're always like... wearing gloves?"

That's a damn good question, Bobby. Let's figure this out.

Does the question, "Why do Animated characters wear gloves?", come up a lot for you?

John: The question rarely comes up, but when it does, there are a number of answers to it.

That's John Canemaker, he's an animation historian and professor at NYU.

The most basic theory is that gloves saved time.

John: Animation of any kind— even with computers— is a very work-intensive or labor intensive process.

"Pardon me. I've always wondered how they were made."

At the dawn of animation, everything was hand-drawn over and over and over again. And certain techniques to make the process more efficient

shaped the style of the cartoons.

John: Felix the Cat, for example, was a very boxy-looking character.

As Felix was becoming more popular, the animator Bill Nolan decided to remove his snout and make him more circular overall.

John: And that design—what they call the rubber hose and circle design, very spaghetti-like arms of the characters—

continued to the design of Mickey Mouse as well.

This rubber hose and circle aesthetic allowed animators to quickly draw arms, legs, and heads without spending too much time

developing realistic details of the character's body—like elbows and knees.

A round edge was much faster to draw than an angle, and that certainly applied to hands, with all those fingers and knuckles.

But hands posed another a problem for animators in the age of fuzzy black and white film.

John: Characters were in black and white films difficult to see against their black bodies.

Take a look at Mickey Mouse. In 1927's Plane Crazy he had black hands and feet, just like Felix.

He gained shoes by 1928's Steamboat Willie and in 1929 he's wearing gloves in The Opry House.

The rubber hose style of animation is in full effect here. Every character is exaggerated, round, and simple.

And like many of the glove-wearing cartoon characters of his time, Mickey Mouse is

a non-human doing very human things.

In his 1968 biography, "The Disney Version",

Walt Disney addresses this very issue. He says, "We didn't want

him to have mouse hands, because he was supposed to be more human. So we gave him gloves."

So in addition to saving time and providing color contrast, gloves bring non-human things to life, making their grand gestures stand out.

These 1935 tea kettles from Van Beuren Studio have them. This movie camera does too.

When Pinocchio is a puppet, he wears gloves. But when he becomes a boy, they disappear. They're no longer needed.

But there's another, less practical influence behind cartoon characters' white gloves.

The Opry House is a film about Mickey putting on a big vaudeville show. That film and many of the animations that

predated it were inextricably linked to vaudeville performance and the blackface minstrel shows of the time.

In fact, early animators often performed on vaudeville stages.

Nicholas Sammond writes in Birth of An Industry that early animated characters like

Felix the Cat, Bimbo, Bosko, and Mickey Mouse "weren't just like Minstrels, they were Minstrels."

Both the cartoons and the stage characters were portrayed as mischievous and rebellious yet good natured.

They wore loose clothes, had painted faces, and … they wore white gloves.

In the 1930s vaudeville and blackface minstrelsy declined. White gloves were no longer associated with vaudeville to a new generation of viewers.

Instead, they were just part of the cartoon style people came to expect.

John: There's also The Band Concert, do you know that film?

It's from 1935.

John: One of the characters is Clarabelle Cow and she plays the flute and

her glove gets stuck in the flute [chiuckles] so, really strange without the glove on it.

Sixty years later Goofy takes off his gloves before getting in a pool and it's quite frankly, really disturbing.

Now what's really bothering me is why Daffy Duck and many other animated birds don't wear gloves. We might never know.

Daffy: Look, let's not split hairs. Why do you even wear gloves?

Bugs Bunny: Because, I've always worn them. It's who I am. Why do you wear that thing around your neck?

Touché Bugs Bunny. Touché.

Can Diabetics Eat Dates - Duration: 3:10.

Dates have been a staple food of the Middle East.

There is archaeological evidence of date cultivation in eastern Arabia in 6000 BC.

Dates provide a wide range of essential nutrients, and are a very good source of dietary potassium.

The sugar content of ripe dates is about 80%; the remainder consists of protein, fiber.

When you crave for sweets you may go to candy store.

But candy is not good if you have diabetes.

Doctor may suggest you to not to take sweets because it will increase your blood sugar.

Diabetes means you should not take any sugar.

Dates may be a healthy alternative as sweeteners.

Here are a few reasons to include dates in your diabetes diet plan:

Weight Control: As a diabetic, you understand the need for

weight control.

Dates are fat free and cholesterol free and so they are a great snack for diabetes.

Nutritional Value: Dates provide many important minerals such

as calcium, sulfur, iron, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, and magnesium.

Many of these minerals are required in very small quantities but a deficiency can aggravate

your condition.

For instance the mineral zinc improves insulin action while magnesium is necessary for the

regulation of blood sugar levels.

Dates can also help in the treatment of other health conditions like intestinal disorders,

abdominal cancer and diarrhea.

Less impact on blood sugar: According to the "The Encyclopedia of Healing

Foods", dates contain a soluble fiber called beta-D-glucan which reduces the body's absorption

of cholesterol and also delays absorption of glucose by the small intestine.

Blood sugar levels are therefore, not severely impacted through the consumption of dates.

Energy Source: A 100 gram serving of dates, there are about 75 grams of carbohydrates.

The main sugars present in these carbohydrates – glucose, fructose and sucrose . When you

feel lethargic dates may help you.

Dietary Fiber : Dates is packed with high fiber.

A 100 gram serving of dates contains about 8 grams of dietary fiber.

High fiber foods support digestion and maintain healthy bowel movement.

The Harvard School of Public Health suggests that a high fiber diet can help reduce the

risk of chronic heart problems and certain types of cancer.

Low-Glycemic Index It is important to check the Glycemic index

of any food for diabetic patients.

The Glycemic index measures the impact a certain food has on your blood sugar levels due to

its own sugar content.

Glycemic index ( GI) value of 55 and higher considered medium and high GI.

Foods with high GI should be eat less for diabetics because Foods that have a high glycemic

index are unsafe for diabetic patients as they increase the blood sugar levels.

GI Value of 50 and below are considered acceptable.

Dates however have a low GI.

The glycemic index for three different varieties of dates are 35.5 (khalas), 49.7 (barhi),

and 30.5 (bo ma'an).

Before taking any food please consult with your physician.

Doctor may suggest your diet plan according to your condition.

First up, the constitutional components.

The Twentieth Amendment sets January 20th as the date when the outgoing president's term ends,

and that's when incoming U.S. president, Donald J. Trump, was inaugurated.

As we reported Friday, it's Article II Section 1 that contains the 35-word oath of office

that was administered by Chief Justice John Roberts to the new president.

JOHN ROBERTS, SUPREME COURT CHIEF JUSTICE: Please raise your right hand and repeat after me.

I, Donald John Trump, so solemnly swear --

DONALD TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: I, Donald Jump Trump, so solemnly swear --

ROBERTS: That I will faithfully execute --

TRUMP: That I will faithfully execute --

ROBERTS: -- the office of president of the United States.

TRUMP: -- the office of president of the United States

ROBERTS: And will to the best of my ability --

TRUMP: And will to the best of my ability --

ROBERTS: -- preserve, protect and defend --

TRUMP: -- preserve, protect and defend --

ROBERTS: -- the Constitution of the United States.

TRUMP: -- the Constitution of the United States

ROBERTS: So help me God.

TRUMP: So help me God.

ROBERTS: Congratulations, Mr. President.

AZUZ: Later Friday, at one of the inaugural ball events where President trump dance with his wife,

First Lady Melania Trump, the 45th U.S. leader called it a, quote, "great day", and it was a busy one.

After the inauguration, on Capitol Hill, Mr. Trump surrounded by family and lawmakers

took his first official actions as president.

He proclaimed a national day of patriotism.

He signed, he made official the nominees for his cabinet.

He joked with congressional leaders and then he dined with him, the traditional luncheon with Congress.

That was followed by the inaugural parade down Pennsylvania Avenue.

Then the first inaugural ball -- the president and Vice President Mike Pence had planned to attend several.

But one of, if not the biggest moment,

came in the middle of the day when President Trump gave his inaugural address, his vision for the direction of the country.

Here are some highlights of the sixteen-and-a-half minute speech.

TRUMP: What truly matters is not which party controls our government,

but whether our government is controlled by the people.

January 20th, 2017 will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again.

For many decades, we've enriched foreign industry at the expense of American industry;

subsidized the armies of other countries, while allowing for the very sad depletion of our military.

We've defended other nations' borders while refusing to defend our own.

And spent trillions and trillions of dollars overseas while America's infrastructure has fallen into disrepair and decay.

We've made other countries rich, while the wealth, strength and confidence of our country has dissipated over the horizon.

One by one, the factories shuttered and left our shores,

with not even a thought about the millions and millions of American workers that were left behind.

The wealth of our middle class has been ripped from their homes and then redistributed all across the world.

But that is the past. And now, we are looking only to the future.

From this day forward, it's going to be only America first. America first.

Every decision on trade, on taxes, on immigration, on foreign affairs

will be made to benefit American workers and American families.

We must protect our borders from the ravages of other countries making our products,

stealing our companies and destroying our jobs.

We will seek friendship and goodwill with the nations of the world,

but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first.

We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone,

but rather to let it shine as an example.

We will shine for everyone to follow.

We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and unite the civilized world against radical Islamic terrorism,

which we will eradicate completely from the face of the Earth.

We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action,

constantly complaining, but never doing anything about it.

The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action.

Do not allow anyone to tell you that it cannot be done.

No challenge can match the heart and fight and spirit of America.

We will not fail.

Our country will thrive and prosper again.

So to all Americans in every city near and far, small and large,

from mountain to mountain, from ocean to ocean, hear these words:

you will never be ignored again.

Together, we will make America strong again.

We will make America wealthy again.

We will make America proud again.

We will make America safe again.

And yes, together, we will make America great again.

Thank you. God bless you. And God bless America.

AZUZ (voice-over): Ten-minute trivia:

The 20th Amendment specifies what time as the end of an outgoing president's term?

Eight-thirty a.m., 11:59 a.m., 12:00 noon, or there's no time specified?

The 20th Amendment says at noon, the term for an outgoing president and vice president ends.

AZUZ: Friday was a momentous day for the 44th U.S. president as well.

Though noon officially marked the end of Barack Obama's presidency,

the handoff of power begun that morning

when he and outgoing First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed the incoming first couple to the White House.

They all had tea and coffee together, rode together to the inauguration site.

And when the Obamas stepped into a U.S. military helicopter afterward,

it was no longer called Marine One, the official helicopter flight of the sitting president,

but instead Executive One.

Former President Obama was headed for a vacation in Palm Springs, California.

There were protests in the U.S. and abroad over the weekend.

During the inauguration, there were some peaceful protests in Washington, D.C.

There were disruptions planned to coincide with the inauguration ceremony and there was violence in the capital Friday night.

Demonstrators smashed windows and set fire to at least one car.

More than 200 people were arrested and six police officers were injured.

Then, on Saturday, there were demonstrations in several U.S. cities and others around the world.

More than one million were estimated to have peacefully protested across America.

They included celebrities, some members of Congress and others who turned out for a variety of reasons.

Many said they were demonstrating to show support for women and that they were concerned about attacks on women's rights.

Many said they were upset over the election of President Trump.

Another issues included immigration and health care.

We're glad you took ten to watch CNN 10's overview of weekend events related to the U.S. transfer of power.

Our daily news coverage picks up back up again tomorrow.

I'm Carl Azuz.

And we're leaving you with some sights and sounds surrounding the inauguration of the 45th U.S. president.

CARL AZUZ, CNN 10 ANCHOR: Global news for a global audience. This is CNN 10.

Welcome, everyone. I'm Carl Azuz.

The Middle Eastern nation of Israel is planning to expand its settlements,

its housing areas in the West Bank.

We start today by explaining why that's significant.

The West Bank is a disputed area of land in the ongoing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.

It used to be controlled by the nation of Jordan.

But during a brief war, in 1967, Israel captured the land and claimed it as its own.

Today, Israel says part of the land is historically theirs, part is politically theirs.

It uses some of the land to provide security and it says it needs the space to give more housing to its people.

The Palestinians in the region say the land is theirs and that it was stolen.

They're hoping to have the West Bank as part of a future country of their own.

And Palestinian officials say Israel's decision to build new settlements

there would threaten the region's security and put an obstacle in front of any efforts

to achieve peace between Palestinians and Israelis.

Timing may factor in the Israel's decision.

The U.S. has historically been an Israeli ally.

But the Obama administration was strongly opposed to Israel's construction of new settlements.

Now, with the Trump administration in power, international experts expect that

the U.S. will more supportive of Israel's settlements.

Up next, major changes in the U.S. government's immigration policy.

DONALD TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: I just signed two executive orders that will save thousands of lives,

millions of jobs, and billions and billions of dollars.

AZUZ: One of them that President Trump announced yesterday has to do with sanctuary cities.

These are cities that shelter people who are in the U.S. illegally.

For example, police forces in these cities might not help U.S. government officials find

and deport undocumented immigrants, unless they've committed certain crimes.

President Trump wants to punish these cities for not cooperating with the federal government

and he'd do that by taking away certain funds they get from the government.

"The Wall Street Journal" reports that the president's ability to this is limited without congressional approval,

but that he could slow down the process of giving these cities certain grants.

Critics of the executive actions say President Trump doesn't have the constitutional authority

to carry it out and that pressuring cities to deport illegal immigrants could tear families apart.

The other actions the president announced yesterday:

add thousands of U.S. border patrol agents and thousands of other government officials to deport undocumented immigrants.

This would require congressional approval to pay for.

And something the president repeatedly promised to do while campaigning --

build a physical border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

President Trump says this will help the U.S. get back control of its borders

and that the wall would help Mexico as well by discouraging illegal immigration from countries south of Mexico.

Mr. Trump plans to use U.S. government funds to pay for the construction and then get Mexico to pay America back.

That's something Mexican leaders have said they won't do and critics say the wall would be a monumental waste of U.S. taxpayer money.

JASON CARROLL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: What would it take to build a wall on the border between the United States and Mexico?

You're talking about an area 1,954 miles, stretching across California, Arizona, New Mexico and right here in Texas --

just about 100 yards away from Mexico.

We spoke to civil engineers, architects and academics.

They all say the wall can be built. It can be done. The question is, how?

The first thing one has to do is, before you go up, you have to go down and build a foundation.

This will help provide support for the wall.

In order to prevent people from tunneling under it, it should be at least five feet deep.

The second thing one must consider is what do you use to build the wall?

What materials do you go after? Well, how about cinderblock?

The upside is it's strong; it's secure; it's readily available.

The downside is, it's labor intensive to have to stack every single brick in order to build the wall.

So, our experts say that option doesn't work.

There is another option.

Using poured concrete on site.

That's what they did when they built the Hoover Dam.

The downside to that is when you poor concrete in warmer climates like along many of these border states,

experts say what you could end up with is a weaker wall,

because the concrete might not dry correctly, meaning a wall that could end up crumbling.

So what could be the answer here?

The experts that we spoke to say the way to go is pre-casted cement wall panels.

Those panels will be lined side by side, sort of like what you might see on a highway.

Each panel would be about 20 feet high.

Again, five feet below ground.

About ten feet wide and eight inches thick.

Again, that wall would be stretching some 2,000 miles,

and our expert says it would require 339 million cubic feet of concrete.

And that's just for the panels.

You're also going to need reinforced steel. At least 5 billion pounds.

So what about the estimated cost?

Because it hasn't been done before, let's use those highway panels as an example.

They cost about $40 a square foot.

That would end up costing about $10.5 billion.

Sounds like a lot of money, is a lot of money.

But again, remember, Donald Trump says the U.S. government wouldn't end up footing the bill on this one.

It would be Mexico.

And what about the timing on all of this? How long would it take to build?

According to our expert, if you're ambitious, you could get it done within a presidential term, four years.

AZUZ (voice-over): Ten-second trivia:

What do Apple, Home Depot, McDonald's and Walt Disney have in common?

Are they all based in California, part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, part of the NASDAQ, or none of these?

All four of these companies are included in the Dow, an average of 30 major U.S. stocks.

AZUZ: The Dow is one indicator of the health of the U.S. economy.

It's not the only one.

But a rising stock market is usually seen as a good economic sign.

And yesterday, the Dow hit a high note: 20,000, for the first time ever.

This number shows that the value of stocks in the average increased.

The fact that it's climbed this high shows that

stock market investors are optimistic about the direction the economy is going in.

Experts credit the work of two U.S. leaders for the climb.

One, President Trump.

Analysts believe his plans to cut taxes, increased spending on roads and bridges

and reduced regulations on business could help increase corporate profits and help the American economy growth faster.

Two, former President Obama.

Analysts believe the economy he left behind, which saw years of job growth

and a decreasing unemployment rate also contributed to the Dow's rise,

since the great recession brought it down in early 2009.

The recovery from that was considered to be slow.

But the economy's health has noticeably improved.

EPORTER: It was mid-November 1972.

This hit was number one on the Billboard charts.

Richard Nixon had just won reelection and on Wall Street,

traders marked Dow 1,000, with IBM, the growth stock of the day, leading the charge.

It was the first truly mega Wall Street milestone.

It took the Dow 27 years to hit 10,000, in March 1999.

REPORTER: Cher's hit "Believe" was topping the charts. Stocks were truly a force of nature back then.

And at the end NYSE, traders went nuts.

STEPHEN GUILFOYLE, PRESIDENT, SARGE986: That was kind of a big deal.

At that time, there were still a lot of people down here.

We probably still have between us and the Amex, maybe 7,500 people.

So, at that time, yes, it was confetti in the air, with everybody wearing baseball caps.

REPORTER: A little event called the global financial crisis leveled stocks in 2008,

sending the Dow plunging below 7,000.

But those with the stomach for rest were rewarded when stocks roared back.

President Trump's victory in November sparked a powerful rally,

bringing the Dow less than a point away from 20,000.

Stocks turned choppy. The milestone remained elusive.

Some may play down these benchmarks, but soaring stocks can boost consumer confidence,

and for traders on the New York Stock Exchange, big round numbers remain magical.

AZUZ: Nothing says "I love you" like naming a roach.

At New York City's Bronx Zoo, love is in the air as Valentine's Day nears.

What they're allowing people to do is to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after a loved one,

or as they put it, a not-so loved one.

Since the annual event started in 2011, more than 11,000 roaches had been named.

For 10 bucks, you get a certificate.

For 50, you can get that, some chocolates and a flash roach doll.

Of course, the lucky lady or gentleman might hate that approach.

They might respond with reproach, or they might broach the subject of a breakup.

On the other leg, if they have their antennae out for something unusual,

and this doesn't make them hiss-terical or encroach on any other plans,

maybe they'll find it truly roachmantic.

CLEAN WITH ME (HINDI + SUBTITLES) - Duration: 9:16.

Did you do it?

[Irfan speaking] Yes, I showed them what we have

Yes, how was it? Did it look ok, organized?

[Irfan]: Yes

ok

I'm going to have to wash some of these by hand.

Why don't you do this, honey, take the other camera, and go outside and film the inside of the freezer.

Can you do that?

[Irfan] Which camera, this one?

Yes

[Irfan] Didn't this run out of battery?

No, I switched it.

After the whole cleanup, I'll shower.

I may just go and edit this right away too, because when it's fresh in your mind. Like which camera has the B Rolls, it's so much easier.

[Irfan] Yes, true, just like shows like Dave Ramsey

Yes!

[Irfan] Later it's the same for them

The same thing happens to me, when I say I will edit this later, a week later I can't even remember which camera had which clip.

[Irfan] Because we filmed with several cameras

Yes, but with Camtasia it's so easy to combine clips from multiple cameras. That's not the problem, as long as I can devote time to actually sitting down and doing it.

But we still have a lot to clean up.

The counters still need to be cleaned up.

Put the potatoes away inside.

Yes, it's not like we will do it over and over again.
