Waching daily Jun 27 2018

hello world this is ina and I'm here to show you how to live your best life

through entrepreneurship are you ready for this today we're going to talk about

professional photos when people go to your website they want to know that

they're going to be in good hands they want to know that you know what you are

talking about and for some reason when our brains see professional pictures

great looking shots of someone we immediately qualify them as an expert in

whatever it is that they do so the myth that I want to bust today is that you

can continue to go along and have a professional business without ever

investing in professional photos disclaimer it may happen but it's rare

let's get to the truth and I want you to stick around until the end of the

episode because if you care about this topic I have a freebie for you that

you're not gonna want to miss and if all of this is interesting to you you will

want to check out my episode on branding and on injecting your personality into

your brand it all ties together the

truth of the matter is that if you are in the business of having a product

online people will go to your website and they will judge you harshly on

anything that you have posted out there think about it if you have a choice

between picking a business that has a website that is just okay it looks like

it's just selfies it's very DIY versus a business that has a website that it

looks professional which one looks most expensive to you and that's really the

heart of the matter is that the more professional-looking your stuff is the

more you will be able to charge for it because it will look higher-end than

those DIY websites you see branding is not just about looking good it's about

letting people know in a very easy very visual way that you are worth what you

charge that your product is top-notch and that they should be

using you over anybody else and the best way to do it is to have professional

shots of yourself of your business of your product right on your website and

next I'm going to show you how I go about my photo sessions step number one

figuring out what you want before you even start calling photographers you

should have an idea in your mind for what kind of pictures you're going for

in fact photographers are all different they will each have a different

expertise and you want to make sure you pick the right kind of tog refer for the

job step number two is finding a photographer the way that I usually go

about it is I go on my local town Facebook community group and I post

does anybody know any photographers that shoot this kinds of pictures you can

also go on google and search best photographers in my area make sure you

look at their portfolio and that the vision you have in your mind for your

photos is represented in their past or step number three pick a location

depending on what your goal was and what kinds of pictures you wanted to get you

may choose an outside setting make sure it has shade or go indoors my first

photo shoot was in my house I picked a wall where I was going to take full body

shots against and I even had a storyboard because I wanted to walk out

and make sure that I got every shot I wanted rule number four pick different

outfits for the same photo session so to make sure you can use your pictures in

different web pages and for different purposes bring at least one outfit

change that way it won't look like you took all your pictures on the same day

rule number five understand how professional photographers work you

don't own the pictures until they are finally delivered to you and you are not

entitled to the raw unedited pictures think about it for a second the

photographer is putting their name on their work the way it works is they will

post the proofs online and you will select them from a gallery then they

have the right to edit them and the live them to you some photographers will only

put in the gallery the final work after they have had a chance to vet and edit

it so do not ask for the raw unedited pictures they are not yours and it may

Rob the photographer the wrong way and trust me from someone who has seen the

raw pictures versus the edited pictures you definitely want the finished work

let the photographer's do their job what I want you to do right now is to really

think where you would put your professional pictures are you going to

put them on your website on social media landing pages the best way to go about

this is to actually sit down with a piece of paper and with a pencil and

draw out a storyboard and draw exactly which shots you want to take you can go

to Pinterest for inspiration or Google Images just i-best headshots for my

business there and get some inspiration there and I have a bonus for you that is

really going to help you with all of this I have a bonus for people who sign

onto my mailing list and it's super-beefy

is the ultimate photo shoot guidelines it gives you recommendations on what

kind of pictures to get and the process you should be following to prep for your

photo session don't do a photo shoot until you have seen this document it's

going to save you a lot of time and money and you're going to be happier

with your pictures so go download it at the link on your screen and that is all

Noah Omri Levin - Pilot Episode - Why I Am Doing This - Duration: 8:46.

Okay friends out there on the Internetz. People are asking what the plan is

what the deal is with my Instagram posts, these videos...

why don't we find out what I'm up to

I wanted to set out to build an amazing set of recordings, these videos...

put them out there for you all to explore the world of digital

I wanted to do this to connect to you, the people out there listening to this, my friends, old co-workers,

people in the industry, people not yet in the industry, people who want

to get into data analytics and digital marketing, business intelligence...

I want to hear from you and I want to be helping you thrive in this world

we're gonna start off with some behavioral traits

there's personality tests that are out there and there's behavioral assessments

I'm much more into the behavioral side the reason for that is that personality

traits aren't observable. There's a lot of internal, intrinsic... being... there

that I just find hard to understand and hard to see in somebody when you first meet them.

Behavior is something you see on the surface. It's how we like to behave

It's our preferences for environments

it's whether we like to go fast or slow it's whether we're people oriented or

results and facts oriented. It's how we go about solving problems

Do we trust you at the beginning of a relationship or does it take time to earn that trust?

Are you somebody who is risk-averse or do you take some risks here or there?

how do we work with various different types of people

you get data people who are not necessarily the same guys as your sales and

marketing department. The guy leading the company has a totally different

personality, totally different behaviors, than the guy who's running your digital analytics

all of these factors change how we do business every day and when

you can understand yourself when you understand where you're coming from and

what you bring to the table... what your preferences are and you take

that and you also apply that as you understand where they're coming from,

now there's some magic that can happen

there's so much to be done and I wanted

to be connecting to the people out there to see if I could make a difference

I teach classes at a great organization, General Assembly. I head downtown a couple times

a month to teach a 101 class and it's one of my favorite things to do because

there's just such a passion in the people that show up and I'm hoping to

ignite that. There's an ember in every single person out there

and figuring out what it takes to light it up to make you glow that's what...

that's the business that I'm in. We need minds... we need more people

in this world and it is not beyond your reach

We're also going to look at why you choose an agency over an in-house team

or some hybrid of the two. We'll talk about what's happening in the digital

agency world and companies like ours that went from a digital media company,

a digital media agency and is shifting towards business intelligence and data

analytics and why we've made those moves while still retaining our prowess in the

digital marketing space. I'll be talking about opportunities that those of you

that are in the industry... you can take in your local communities

I found immense opportunities to be speaking ,to teach, to build the industry

a lot of times we complain about the lack of talent that's out there in our

industry and the reality is is that we're the ones that can solve that.

That is the group that's going to educate the next generation of amazing digital

marketers, of people in the data analytics space, people who know tag management,

people who understand marketing automation who understand what

it takes to leverage AI in an effective way who also can apply that to brands

and how to build and grow influence in the marketplace

so I'm really excited to get this started and hear from all of you

so much of our success and failure rides on the people involved. Many of the actual problems

that we deal with on a daily basis are not that complicated

as much as coding and data analytics... a lot of these pieces they can

be complicated but many of the things that need to get done have been mapped

out, the roadmaps are clear, and really what needs to happen is pretty pretty

much worked out it's just a matter of getting those people the people involved

the stakeholders on the client side you know in the agency world and the

people across the business units that need to be activated to

get them excited motivated to enable them to really thrive in their

roles and align them with the vision of what could be possible. I think it would be

helpful to just give you some background on

where I came from how I ended up where I'm at today. I was working at a large digital

agency in New York City really focused specifically on automation around

Paid Search and how to make our lives at the time

better as marketers. Paid Search being the ads that you see on Google, Bing that was

my specialty and I spent a lot of time with really awesome people at Razorfish

learning Marin media management technology at the time that was

extremely popular still popular today... great people over there... and I was

brought down to Atlanta to help roll that out. The thing that really attracted

me to join Search Discovery was the founders passion his name is

Lee Blankenship he was just always interested in creating an environment

for people the thrive. He worked in a larger agency didn't get that experience

himself and he just set out to fix it for the world which is an amazing thing

So that was not an easy decision there were 16 people at Search Discovery of

the time and the easy route would have been

go with the big agency and build yourself up, get lots of experience with large clients. Instead,

just seeing a person who started a company purely to create an environment

for people to thrive really just blew my mind, it was not something I had experienced elsewhere

our heard of... so I took the gamble

I joined up with as I said there are 16 people

six years later we're around 103

again with large brands, amazing work with amazing people really that have come into play

but what's built it up entire time, what what's gotten us to where we are today

has been to focus on the people. What I'd love to see from all of

you is subscribing following wherever you see this whether it's LinkedIn

Instagram and excited to hear the feedback see the comments can't wait to

do more of this with you and hopefully will make a difference

Momondays Toronto - Tim Barnaby May 28, 2018 - Duration: 10:11.

When I was 12 years old my dream

Was to be a Hollywood actor.

Seriously, that's what I wanted to be

and you know, I

was drawn to this because of the school play.

The school play. This is where they get everybody in the school to try out and they try to give everybody

you know a little bit of a part in that play, but I...

I got speaking roles.

Yeah, I was Captain Hook in the play Peter Pan and I was the Wizard in The Wizard of Oz.

I thought like this was amazing! All my teachers all the principals. They would come up to me after and say "Oh, you're so good!"

They come up to my parents, "He's really good. You know, he should look at something like this."

And of course mom and dad in the moment. "Yeah, absolutely. That would be great!"

Well, my parents are tough and

if you had been at my house after those comments, you would have heard something completely different.

"You aren't gonna become an actor!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. No you are going to be an accountant!"

"I want to be an accountant" is something no twelve-year-old has ever said in the history of 12-year olds.

Well, like I said my mom and dad were tough so, you know, they they encouraged me to go this route and

so I thought okay

Well, that's something I could do. But there are signs in our lives that tell you you need to be doing something else and

my first sign came when the high school that I was meant to go to

changed from one of all academics to School of the Arts! AHHHH

Acting classes, right? This is it! This is great!

But as I said mom and dad they're tough and they heard about this as well

So they said "No no, no, no, no, no, you're gonna be an accountant!" And they switched me.

Made me take an extra walk to even get there, right?

So now I'm going to the high school that I don't want to go do studying accounting

And of course, I graduate high school and I get into university and what do they say?

Well, are you should study accounting? Right? So I go through four years of

accounting school and

I come out the end with this great degree

no job in accounting,

because you see what they don't tell you when you go through accounting school is that you not only have to study it

but you have to actually like it and be good at it.

And that didn't work out for me. So

now I have to come home

like a typical student,

a degree, no job lots of debt! Now is the time to go into acting right? Try it out this time?

But like I said, I'm a dad they're tough and

they were gonna let me sit on a couch and just wait for life to happen

no, so there was a phone call that came in this one day from a company and

they were actually looking for my brother

because he had been looking for a job earlier.

Fortunately, he found a job and my mother gets all excited

Like, you know, I've got all these boys that need jobs. So she comes running down the stairs "Tim Tim Tim Tim...

You gotta take this phone call. It was a man on the phone and he has this job offer for you. It's in procurement!"

Now remember I said I've studied accounting for four years. No where in the four years did accounting and procurement go together.

I didn't even know what it was.

But okay sure. I take the summer job. I forego anything with the acting and I say, okay great and

I do this job

which turned into a full-time job and I've been doing that for like 20 years

And I got to tell you something. It's

boring.

Like I can't even come up with procurement jokes. Like that's that's how boring this thing is, I tell you.

But see in my mom's and dad's mind

this for them made sense because I'm the third of four boys. For them

balance is everything.

Have kids get them well-educated get them a job. Get them out of the house, right?

Like that's that's what they're thinking and if he goes to acting school, he's not gonna get out of the house.

So for them, this was a win-win.

But it's not what I wanted to do.

And so I start searching for what is it that I want to do?

I gotta go find things the acting by now is starting to get out of my head a little bit. So I go looking for

something to do in life and I found

running.

Okay, so I try it out with friends. They say your life changes when you run a marathon so great

I train I go and run a marathon

Life didn't change.

My legs were really sore I thought why would anybody run like this is ridiculous.

So we go looking for something else and these crazy friends I hooked up with running

They said "Well, you know what you really gotta try... the Ironman. Yeah, that'll really change your life. You'll really like that!"

Okay, let's give it a shot and I go out and I do the Ironmam.

Now this was a little bit of life changing because you gotta

work really hard like it's not the easiest race to train for. You can't just wake up on Saturday do it Sunday

You got put a little effort into this thing

and I did. I trained my butt off and I went out there and I did the best that I could and

when I finished I was so proud. You know

I was like this is it maybe this is what I could do and I come home in this proud

moment

showing off my medal and my certificates and my mom and my mom looks to me and she says "I am so disappointed in you."

Disappointed?

I mean, is it really that important that I'd be an accountant?

I don't understand. See I don't really remember the reason she was disappointed because I really didn't hear the word disappointment what I heard was

disapproval.

She just didn't approve of the lifestyle that I wanted to live.

And I was like wow I

have to go out and figure something out because this isn't gonna work for me.

You know they talk about

balance sheets where the left side equals the right side if you get a good education and you get a job

everything will be great. It won't matter what's on the other side, but it does

because all that's on the left side, all the positives are all sinking down here. I don't I don't like it.

It's not a life that I'm fulfilled by.

But there'd be another sign that I would have in my life. It happened about three years ago

when I changed jobs

another procurement job and

it was literally the sign on the wall

Toastmasters, oh

This is different, yeah

So if you don't know about Toastmasters, it's an international organization that helps people work on their leadership and speaking skills.

Well, I'm going nowhere in leadership here

So maybe the speaking skills might be something I can work on and I joined this club and you know, it goes okay.

I give some speeches

but I wanted to do more I wanted to invest in it more and I went searching for

how am I gonna get better at this. And

so I took a couple of classes and I heard about these speaking events in and around Toronto one of them being

here at MoMondays and

I come out here and I meet Michel for the first time and I hear about training that he does training. That sounds cool

So take a couple of classes.

Start implementing what I've liked

and then that led me to

more classes

working with a voice coach and a

performance coach and a movement coach. I had more coaches in my life that I had accounting classes it seemed.

But I gotta tell you

That it's made me more fulfilled in what I get to do

because as I grow and as I work on this craft

people are looking at me and one of the best questions that I can get is

"How did you do that?"

That's a great question I got to tell you because I'm willing to help you out. I'm going to share what I've learned.

I get to work with the best people about how to do this.

So there's not a whole lot on the left side in terms of the assets like no money coming in or nothing

but I tell you the fulfillment side that is way up there, right.

So live in the life of unbalanced. Yep. I might be

somebody who

doesn't have the approval of their parents

but I'm living the life that I want to on the stage that I wanted to be on ever since

I was 12 years old and I will find more stages and continue to find them as I go through this journey.

Thank you.
