James Schramko here with a staffing tip. One of the best documents you can have

when you have a new team member is an expectations document and that's where

you outline what your new person can expect from you and your business and

also what you expect from your new person so that the rules are upfront, the

guidelines are clear, there can be no ambiguity and this will be the document

you can use to do reviews. You can assess performance and you can make sure that

your new hire is feeling very clear and safe around what the job actually is

because believe it or not, a lot of people are getting a job because they

want to feel secure. They want to have a nurturing environment and providing them

this clarity is good for them and it's good for you. So, set your expectations

document up. If you've got existing team members then roll them out over time so

that everyone knows where they stand.

Are you a can't? When, you know, someone asks you for advice and you give it to

them and then they go oh no I can't do that because of that or I can't do that

because that I can't can't can't can't can't we've taken to thinking about it as

though those people who are can'ts and it's kind of funny so anytime you start to

realize or notice yourself saying that you can't do something from now on or

you see somebody else that's talking about how they can't do something which

just is really an excuse or disguised as a reason just think about this and

remind yourself like ah am I being a can't right now there's that person being

a can't sorry you're being a can't I think it's just a really funny way to remind

yourself to stop making excuses really or to remind other people that they can

do things they've just got to change the words because honestly the words that

you use will reflect your abilities and what you achieve in life so if you're

saying you can't do something then you're never going to be able to do it

so you really have to be conscious of it I think this is a really great way to

make yourself start being conscious of it
