Hey Billionaires, NOBODY Wants You To Run For President! - Duration: 3:51.So for the last week or so, everybody's been talking about the fact that Howard Schultz,
the former CEO of starbucks, billionaire worth more than $30,000,000,000, I think a is going
to swoop in and save us all.
Howard Schultz was brave enough and responsible enough to say that he wants to run for president.
He's hired Steve Schmidt, John Mccain's 2008 campaign manager, just to give you a hint
of how effective that guy is.
He's hired him to run this campaign and Howard Schultz promises that he is going to rescue
us all because as a self made billionaire, he knows exactly what the American public
wants and according to shults himself, what the public wants is don't raise taxes on me
and my fellow millionaires and billionaires.
Let's cut entitlement programs to let's, let's cut social security and Medicare because obviously,
yeah, that's what people want a medicare for all is, is a huge threat to democracy.
So we won't even pursue that.
Let's not even talk about it.
According to Sholtz and of course the budget deficit, the national debt, that is the greatest
threat to the United States that exist today.
I mean, I'm sure you understand that, right?
I mean everybody, you talk to your friends, you texting with each other.
It's all about the national debt, right?
That's the only conversation we're having.
That's the only issue any of us have ever really cared about.
You know, screw healthcare, screw medicare for all, screw the fact that he wants to take
your grandparents and your parents and cut their entitlements that they're trying to
live off of, to have some kind of a meager retirement.
No, we've all been worried about the national debt at $21,000,000,000,000.
Oh God.
It's awful.
What are we gonna do?
We're gonna do the same thing we've always done as a country.
It just kind of keep going forward.
Sometimes you pay it down.
Sometimes we add to it.
That's what happens.
Everything works out fine.
I am sick and tired of billionaires.
I'm tired of it.
I am tired of these egotistical, narcissistic assholes coming in telling us that they're
going to take stuff away from us because hell, they made it.
They made it to the billionaire's club.
They've got everything in the world they could possibly need, plus a few billion dollars
to spare, and yet we the people living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to get by struggling
every time we have to walk into a pharmacy and pick up a new prescription, wondering
how much that's going to set us back and how much we're going to have to save over the
next week or so because we had to blow that money on insulin or asthma inhalers on or
on Epi pens.
Yeah.
We're the ones who are being selfish and greedy right now.
Not The guy hoarding $34,000,000,000 in a bank somewhere.
He's our savior.
Nobody.
Nobody wants billionaires telling us how to live our lives.
Nobody wants billionaire in the White House telling us that they know best and nobody
wants another billionaire vanity project to be successful enough to get another idiot
in the White House who doesn't know what the hell he is doing.
But that is exactly what Howard Schultz is.
Another idiotic billionaire who was more than happy to take everything he can out of the
system and then try to screw over the rest of us who are struggling to live paycheck
to paycheck.

Shocking Dinosaur Facts You Won't Believe - Duration: 10:17.After 25 years of Jurassic Park movies,
you'd probably assumed scientists
had learned everything there was to know about dinosaurs,
and that the facts about life in the Mesozoic
were more or less set in stone or fossilized amber.
But that's not the case.
Today, we're looking at all the crazy dinosaur
facts that have been discovered since you were in school.
Paleontologists make new discoveries all the time,
including new species of dinosaurs,
new insights on dinosaur behavior,
and new conclusions about how dinosaurs
would have looked and sounded.
[SCREAMING]
Odds are a lot has changed since the last time you
opened a dinosaur book.
Before we get started, make sure you
subscribe to Weird History and tell us your favorite dinosaur.
I've always been partial to Triceratops medium
well with a side of asparagus.
OK, let's look at some Dino facts.
We're all familiar with some of the truly hulking dinosaurs,
like the Brachiosaurus whose sneezes Lex Murphy and forever
dooms her to a life of playing indoors.
But scientists are discovering new species of dinosaurs
all the time.
While nowhere near as large as its movie star cousin,
though Ledumahadi mafube was twice
the size of an African bull elephant,
making it the largest animal on earth
when it lived in the early Jurassic.
And we had no idea it even existed
until September of 2018.
Meaning a giant thunderclap at dawn
in the native language of the area of South Africa, in which
it was discovered, the Ledumahadi mafube
was what researchers refer to as a transitional dinosaur,
walking on two legs with crouched, arm-like front limbs,
before its sauropod cousins, like Brachiosaurus
and Brontosaurus evolved into a four legged huge-asaurus
to support their massive weight.
The things we know about dinosaurs
change as more research is done over the years.
So consequently, things that were accepted
as scientific fact back in 1993, such as a Tyrannosaurus
Rex could outrun Jeff Goldblum in a Jeep, later
became contested, if not flat out disproven.
At the time, paleontologists believed
that T-Rex could possibly run at speeds
of up to 33 miles an hour.
But now the commonly accepted belief
is that the dinosaur maxed out at about 12 miles an hour.
That by no means is slow for an eight ton predator.
But the tyrant lizard king was definitely more Prefontaine
than it was Usain Bolt.
Unlike the giant lizards they've been
portrayed as for the past 100 years,
the vast majority of dinosaurs were probably
covered in feathers, meaning they looked more like Big Bird
than T-Rex, which is cute and terrifying
all at the same time.
The great dinosaurs had feathers theory didn't come together
all at once.
But after years of unearthing plumed specimens,
including a well-preserved feather herbivore in 2014,
the evidence became impossible to ignore.
Maybe that means the Tyrannosaurus Rex's tiny arms
were actually wings, which would make the next Jurassic World
movie 10 times better.
One of the first things any self-respecting dinosaur
nerd will tell you is that Brontosaurus didn't actually
exist.
It was just a case of a scientist misidentifying
an Apatosaurus skeleton as a new species
and giving the discovery a new name.
However, in 2015, a research team
reexamined both the Apatosaurus and the original Brontosaurus
skeleton, and discovered significant differences.
Meaning the Brontosaurus might finally
earn its well-deserved spot on the official dinosaur
roster, which would be great considering
the Brontosaurus is a way cooler name than Apatosaurus
But speaking of famous dinosaurs that didn't really exist, back
in 2010, scientists discovered that a species of dinosaur
known as Triceratops didn't actually exist,
putting several Land Before Time sequels
in jeopardy of suddenly becoming scientifically inaccurate.
How could one of the most well-known,
and my favorite, dinosaurs in history not be real?
Well, before we all get too upset.
It turns out the discovery was more of a technicality.
The specimens that had previously
been identified as Triceratops were actually
younger dinosaurs of a different species, called Torosaurus.
But since Triceratops was the first of the two species
to be discovered, it remains the official name of the species.
We apologize to all you Torosaurus fans out there.
Because we view dinosaurs as giant lizards
rather than their own distinct classification of animals
for decades, the common scientific belief
was that they laid eggs in nests and abandoned them,
like modern lizards and those people who allow their faces
to be unblurred on Cops.
However, more recent discoveries have
revealed that several species of dinosaurs, including
the predatory Troodon, actually guarded their nests
and raised their hatchlings.
I'm not sure if they got their offspring into swimming or jazz
band, but dinosaurs were good parents.
One of the most oft-repeated factoids about famous dinosaurs
is that the Stegosaurus had a second auxiliary brain
in its pelvis, perhaps to help it solve complicated math
problems.
But the theory that the dinosaur's pelvic cavity
held a second brain was never more than that, just a theory.
Modern scientists think it might have held a glycogen
body, which is a structure found in modern birds that
is used to store energy.
Pachycephalosaurs, or Friar Tuck as it's
called in 1997's The Lost World, Jurassic Park,
was long thought to have used its impressive domed skull
to head but competing dinosaurs in mating contests
or deciding who gets the remote control.
But while they may have possessed
the ferocious bold demeanor of a Jason Statham-asaurus,
modern researchers have concluded the Pachycephalosaurs
skull simply couldn't have withstood more
than a single headbutt.
Those formidable skull bones were merely for show.
You may remember Spinosaurus as the pinch-hitting dinosaur
nobody asked for that steps in to take
T-Rex's place as the chief terrorizor
of the human characters in Jurassic Park 3.
Despite engaging in a memorable battle
to the death with Tyrannosaurus in the film,
the real-life Spinosaurus actually lived in water.
According to a 2014 discovery, Spinosaurus
had several structures similar to modern crocodiles,
making them excellent water hunters,
as depicted in that climactic scene where it tries like hell
to eat William H. Macy.
Mmm, braised William H. Macy.
When we were kids, picking a dinosaur out of a lineup
seemed pretty easy.
If Jurassic Park made a toy out of it, it was a dinosaur.
But as the fossil record has continued
to grow over the years with more and more discoveries,
scientists are finding it increasingly difficult
to classify exactly what traits define a dinosaur.
In fact, according to paleontologist Randall Hermes,
there's only one distinguishing feature
that is completely unique to all dinosaurs--
having a complete hole in the hip socket.
Anything else is just a weird old animal.
And scientists are finding it harder
to classify different species of dinosaurs
within their own evolutionary tree.
For instance, Tyrannosaurus and other theropdos
were once assumed to be closer to sauropods, like Apatosaurus,
than to be beaked Ornithischian, like Triceratops.
But a study in 2017 suggests that the opposite is true,
which is fine with us.
Because that's one more checkmark in the T-Rex
might have had wings column.
Because they were long assumed to be giant reptiles,
it was similarly assumed that dinosaurs were cold-blooded.
But recent discoveries over the past few decades
have determined that this likely wasn't the case.
Since cold-blooded animals like lizards
can't regulate their body temperature,
their skeletal structure keep them low to the ground.
Dinosaurs were massive upright creatures,
which cast serious doubt on that cold-blooded theory.
Additionally the discovery that many dinosaurs had feathers,
and that these feathers were not used for flight,
suggests that they were used for insulation,
much in the same way that mammals use fur or puffy winter
jackets.
Dinosaurs have been roaring for as long
as we've been putting them into films.
Because humans, as a species, collectively decided
that something that huge would shake the Earth with it's
powerful prehistoric bellow.
As it turns out, dinosaurs would've
been physically incapable of roaring.
I know, so disappointing.
Instead of a larynx, which is what
mammals like bears and lions have,
dinosaurs would have had syrinx's, which are essentially
the vocal tubes of birds.
Scientists discovered a preserved voice box
from a prehistoric duck-like bird in 2016,
which provided them with a good idea of the kinds of sounds
a dinosaur would have made.
Although, if you ask us, the ending of Jurassic Park would
have been no less memorable if after killing those
Raptors T-Rex let out a triumphant honk,
and pretty handy to have a T-Rex for your morning commute
as well.
Everyone thinks they have a pretty good idea
of what dinosaurs looked like.
But the truth is all of our images
of dinosaurs are based on speculation and guesswork.
For example, there's a world of difference between an elephant
skeleton and when an elephant actually looks like.
The skeleton leaves out the elephants
most defining characteristic, the trunk,
if you didn't know what that characteristic was.
To illustrate this point, paleo artists CM Kosemen and John
Conway published a book called, All Yesterdays,
that features alternate artistic renderings
of what dinosaurs could have looked
like based on the fossil record.
They also include a few interpretations
of modern animals drawn in the paleontological style
of stretching leathery skin tightly over the bones,
including this truly nightmarish drawing of a baboon.
We're currently living in what many consider
to be the golden age of dinosaur discovery,
with scientists discovering new species on the regular.
We're now just being able to uncover fossils in places
like the Arctic, where we recently found Nanuqsaurus,
an ice-bound Tyrannosaur.
Included in this hit parade of recent discoveries
is the Patagotitan.
No, not a new outdoor clothing brand,
but the largest land animal yet known to have ever existed,
which was found in 2013.
But even at around 35 meters long and 10 meters tall,
it might only be a matter of time
before the new biggest dinosaur ever is
crowned over the Patagotitan.
Because of the reconstructive nature of paleontology,
and an ever-growing fossil record that's currently
increasing at a blazing rate, scientists
have accepted that everything we know about dinosaurs today
might completely change within a decade or two.
According to paleontologist Jonathan P. Tenant--
There are still huge gaps in our knowledge
of the fossil records.
And the rapid pace of discovery is
changing much of what we thought we knew about dinosaurs.
There are still conclusions to be
drawn from the fossils discovered
within the past few years, let alone all the discoveries
waiting to be made from the bones that
haven't been uncovered yet.
We're still keeping our fingers crossed for some T-Rex wings.
Paleontology is a unique form of science
that attempts to reconstruct the past based
on limited evidence, which means our knowledge of dinosaurs
and dinosaur behavior is constantly evolving,
much like the dinos themselves.

PNEUMOTHORAX vs TENSION PNEUMOTHORAX - Duration: 4:09.Hey friend!
In this video we are going to talk about the differences between a pneumothorax and a tension
pneumothorax.
And make sure you stick around until the end of the video, because I have a really great
memory trick for you to help you remember this.
Hey there, friend, Christina here with nursingschoolofsuccess.com here to help you raise your grades and have
more free time to spend with your family during nursing school.
So make sure to hit that subscribe button and click on the bell so you never miss a
video.
So we're going to start with a pneumothorax.
Just your run of the mill, pneumothorax.
This happens when there is a hole into the space surrounding the lungs, this is called
the pleural space.
so there is this thin space between the lungs and the chest, and that's the pleural space.
So when there's a hole in the pleural space, air from the lungs or from the outside can
leak out into it, causing air to get into that pleural space around the lungs, which
can't be good right?
So when there's air outside of the lung, that lung actually shrinks, it collapses and it
can't expand as much anymore.
The key thing about a pneumothorax is that air can still move in and out of the pleural
space.
So when you inhale, air moves into the pleural space, and when you exhale, the air moves
out of the pleural space.
And during a pneumothorax, as air fills the pleural space, the lung can collapse because
of those differences in air pressure.
There are 2 types of pneumothorax that you need to know about: an open pneumothorax and
a closed pneumothorax.
In an open pneumothorax, there is an opening into the pleural space from outside of the
body, so there is a wound that is OPEN to the outside.
This can be caused by anything that pierces the chest, like a stab wound or other trauma.
The other type of pneumothorax is a closed pneumothorax, and this happens when there
is NO outside wound, so the injury happened inside the body.
This can happen with a rib fracture if the rib pierces into that pleural space, or it
can also happen spontaneously.
Now, here's where things get tricky.
A tension pneumothorax is that same thing, there is a hold into the pleural space, except
air can't escape.
So during inhalation, air is going in, but during exhalation, it can't get out.
So every time you inhale, more and more air gets trapped, and everything inside the chest
gets squished.
There's only so much space inside the chest.
So if it all fills up with air, the lungs get compressed, the blood vessels get compressed
and the heart gets compressed.
So a tension pneumothorax is a life threatening emergency that requires immediate medical
attention, that air's gotta come out, or the heart can't pump, the blood vessels get squished,
and the lungs collapse.
So obviously, that is no good.
Now one thing I do want to note here because instructors LOVE to test you on this, is that
during a tension pneumothorax, it can cause the trachea to shift to the unaffected side.
And I have a really easy way for you to remember this, when you think Tension Pneumothorax,
think Trachea Push.
So TP and TP = Tension Pneumothorax...
Trachea Push.

UW-Stout: B.S. Environmental Science - Duration: 2:15.(upbeat music)
- I grew up in a very small farm town.
We own like an acre of woods, so I was always just outside.
So I always had an affinity and a passion for the outdoors.
When I decided to go to college,
I actually decided to go into health, wellness, and fitness
as my major.
I realized that wasn't for me,
so I actually took a class here called Plants and People,
and that class pushed me
to join the Environmental Science program here at UW Stout.
That just made me very interested in the program here
and just how knowledgeable and how experienced
these professors are and just everything that they have
to share with me.
My relationship with the faculty here at UW Stout,
especially in the environmental science program,
is really great because the faculty are super passionate
about the environment and everything they do.
And being able to work alongside
and be taught by people that are that passionate
just makes me very excited
to be a part of the Environmental Science program here.
As a part of my Environmental Science major,
I'm a Environmental Health concentration.
So I'm actually in a soil science class right now
and we're been going outside into the field
and sampling different soil cores
just looking for different mineral contents
and different things in the soil,
which is really get 'cause we get to see it
on the lecture in class,
but then actually go outside and not only see
that pictures of it, but get hands-on experience
interacting with the soil.
And we get a lot of hands-on work,
both in the lab and in the field.
My capstone project is actually
doing research on stormwater ponds.
Just collecting information on that
and being able to get that information out to the public,
because there's a lot of misconceptions
on what these stormwater ponds do.
So doing research on the benefits of these stormwater ponds
and then creating some sort of signage
to relay that information to the residents
that would have these misconceptions.
If you're interested in environmental science,
you should come to UW Stout.
And this is gonna sound so cheesy,
but it's allowed me to follow my passion.
You hear about it all the time,
go out and find something that you love doing.
And it's hard to believe when it actually happens to you.
The Environmental Science program
has allowed me to follow my passion
and just find something that I love doing
with people who love doing the same thing as me.

You Can use Office Lens with Immersive Reader - Duration: 1:33.- Hey everyone, I am Leslie Fisher.
Hello from BETT 2019.
I am here to share with you some of my favorite tips
that you can use right now.
If you have not seen Office Lens before,
Office Lens allows you to take a picture of a whiteboard,
and it allows you to take a picture of a document,
even a business card.
And once you do that, you can share that image
to a variety of locations.
I will share mine usually to Microsoft OneNote.
Why? Because Microsoft OneNote will take any picture
that has text,
and it will go ahead and it will recognize the text,
performing OCR.
Once it does that,
a world of opportunities are available to me,
including Immersive Reader,
which is an application
that will actually help me read the text more effectively,
perfect for me as a struggling reader,
as well as teachers and students
and anyone you know that might struggle with reading.
So I can go within moments from taking a picture of text,
be it on a page,
on a newspaper,
place it into OneNote,
and having it read to me and helping me,
not just in the language I speak,
but a variety of languages.
So imagine a student taking a picture
of a page of a textbook in English
and having that page of a textbook read back to them
in their native language.
It's available and you can do it
and it's all available for free.

and be able to design something from scratch

The Engineering Technology program
really covers a broad range of skills,
and I think that gives you a lot of options
of where you want to go after school.
We do everything from plastics to electronics classes,
automation, welding, casting,
so you can really figure out what you like, and then
from there you can kinda pursue a job in that industry.
And it just makes you have kind of a broader background
of skills, so when you are designing things,
which is primarily what we're being taught to do,
that you have those considerations
about what goes into it before you make final design.
341, right here in this lab,
favorite course so far.
It was a major breakthrough in figuring out
how technology integrates with engineering right now.
It gives you a lot of skills
to do a lot of things on your own.
Being able to really understand automation and machines,
it gives you a leg up in moving forward in engineering.
Most of the professors are either still working
in industry, or fresh out of industry,
and decided to come here, and it seems like
their goal is really to prepare us to join industry,
and make sure that that industry keeps moving forward
with kind of the best technology and innovation.
All of them act like colleagues
where it's not like normal student professor relationship,
and that's kind of one the things
that really stuck out to me here at Stout.
One of the best attributes of Stout is getting you
career ready and co-op ready.
During my co-op at Seagrave
it was a lot of production improvements.
The most rewarding part of pretty much every branch
of engineering is changing things for the better,
whether that's creating something that wasn't there before,
improving current technologies,
I think that's where a lot people find satisfaction
is taking something and making it better,
making it newer, integrating more technology into it.
Engineering Technology is one of the best programs
to really get your ready for a job out of in the field.
Wide range of skills that you learn throughout it
can really pick your path.
You'll really something that can fit into
what you've learned throughout the program,

difference or do that today we're reviewing the Reebok legacy lifting shoe
for my people doing squats and deadlifts I'm going to show you the shoe to show
you my performance in it and it starts right now
in time you will know what it's like to lose to feel so desperately better right
but to fail

just text
what's good YouTube in the building with y'all knowing I'm living on feeling
seeing our powerful damn all everything sex is hell hopes we're doing reviews on
this channel review shoes review your baby mama we review your baby mama
stinky underwear we review tech core cutting everything if you have a review

to get it done for you also if you like reviews subscribe to this channel click
the notification bell so let's jump right on into these shoes but first we
put on these plus seven glasses of the sexy as hell
work on stealing my crowd giving you a more importantly spraying something
better to look at in my hand I hold the Reebok legacy lifting shoe they sent to
my door to do a review because they hurt me on one of my Fitness video was
talking about how tight my groin is I have issues getting low into the squat
and what you're going to be seeing coming across the screen is we actually
squatting in these shoes with 315 versus me squatting with my old nike flywire
that didn't have a heel so why is a heel good and this Hill is 3/4 inches get you
high off the ground if you don't have good flexibility you have tight groins
elevating your foot a little bit allows you to seat down in the hold a little
more and by got to be more careful boy these shoes help me get in the hole so
let's talk about aspects of the shoe so first of all this is a heavy-ass shoe
look at that bottom you could probably pick up a ton and you ain't gonna crack
this bottom this is not some plastic listen to this this shoe weighs about 20
ounces you ain't gonna pay to use this shoe for
CrossFitting because you might can do your dad listen you snatch this in it
but when it's time to run you ain't running nowhere with this concrete shit
on your feet you can forget it it is great for lifting and when you
compare these shoes to some of the other ones like the Romero that Nike makes and
all that this one fits your foot pretty good and you can see it's got these two
little straps on them and sometimes you get shoes with straps this part comes
off on this one it is like velcro it in when I did my living I didn't even strap
them up and I have a wide foot and so if you're gonna buy this thing you're gonna
order it offline I would highly recommend that if you wear like a 13 you
want to go down the side to like 12 and a half if you wear a 12 you want to go
down to an 11 and a half so if you your foot is not you don't got too much space
in your foot that you're sliding down and I got a big foot like I said I wear
a 12 so I got eleven and a half and the shoe and they fit perfect because I read
the reviews of what they was talking about now I will show you guys the clip
of me doing my set of 5 reps you see how the shoe did for me and then we'll come
back and finish this video that was me getting down there man and the shoe

Dealing with Multiple GM's In a Single Game - DM Tips - Duration: 24:50.the inside of the tavern is filled with people talking and laughing as you enter
in the barkeep looks over at you and says "Oi can I get you a drink" he's
about to gradually.... I'm your GM and it's not a tavern no who uses taverns these
days? As a matter of fact the castle that you're in is on fire there are great big
warriors running everywhere and there are just absolute chaos and pandemonium.
Your characters are on one hit point each because well you've been in battle
for weeks and the game is just beginning...
Hello and welcome to this episode of how to be a great GM, my name is guy and
today we're looking at the option of a guest GM /DM or multiple GM's /DM's as some
questions have asked us on the various channels that we operate: that's Twitter,
discord, Facebook - all those different spaces people have been asking us
questions as well as down below in the video links comments and these and how
can you run a game with multiple GM's / DM's, should you run a game with multiple GM's / DM's
and what about just having a Guest GM / DM coming in from time to time what does
that do for your game what does that do for your players, and what does it do for
you, as the game master / dungeon master? Well that's what I'm going to try and answer in today's
video we're gonna look at the various options and the benefits and the
negatives, of course, that come along with having multiple GM's / DM's and I'll give you
some experience that I've had where I've actually run games with multiple GM's / DM's so
If that's something that you're interested into looking into, stay with us. Now when
we start looking at multiple GM's / DM's we gotta ask ourselves some questions why would
we want to have multiple GM's / DM's in the first place and what kind of disruption can
we be expecting, what are the benefits that we can keep, and that can be derived
from having multiple GM's / DM's and then how do the mechanics work, how
does it actually work of having multiple GM's / DM's and how does that fit with your
story narratively. So we're gonna look at all those different things so if we then
jump into it, hopefully and we move on to why
would you want to have multiple GM's / DM's or a Guest GM / DM appearing in your show. Well
there are a couple things: firstly it gives you a very different perspective,
another GM coming in, even if you're playing in the same world, even if the GM
is picking up heaven forbid in the middle of an adventure and they're
running with it there is going to be a different shift, we all look at
Dungeons & Dragons (DnD) and all the role-playing games / systems for that matter from a different point
of view, we run our games differently and even though we might all be for example
narrative GM's we might all be mechanical mechanics GM's,
GM's we all have a slightly different take on how things are going to work so
automatically it's gonna be going to bring a different perspective to the
game, it also means that the way that your players are going to interact with
the GM / DM is going to change how you interact with one GM / DM is going to be
quite different from how you interact with another. Now you might sit back and
say well now my players are always the same they're always a bunch of hooligans,
yeah but they're different types of hooligans - four different types of GM's / DM's
with you, they've had experience they know what they can push in terms of
boundaries they know where they can go in terms of taking the narrative or in
terms of taking the mechanics with a new GM / DM or a different GM those boundaries
need to be set or discovered I should say and so that's going to influence
your game. What it does for you is the GM of course is that it does give you a
different perspective as well. This is what you had thought the campaign should
be doing, you've now brought in a second GM or a third or whatever the case might
be and they're bringing a very different perspective to the whole thing. It can be
great! it's also a tempo shift it changes things up if you are playing on a
regular game and you say, "All right well for the next month we're gonna have a
guest GM and that GM is gonna play us take us through four sessions or so and
it's just a bit of a break for me as the GM." I want to experience some playing, I
want to play with you guys, my favorite players. There are a whole bunch of
things it's definitely going to change: the tempo a long term GM you've got a
long game plan you've got a whole campaign plot it out if you are on a
temporary basis of you're just a guest GM well you're going to be trying to
pack in as much as you can so you're going to generally have a
faster paced game so that can also be quite fun to inject some life into
things GM guidance is another major benefit if
you are a novice GM and you have a guest GM coming in you can talk to that guest
Jim how did you plan your sessions once the session is over you can then pick
their brains and say oh well when you did that what did what was this for and
what was that for it's also useful if you're an experienced GM you can see how
are the gems go about their process and either than that you can either sharpen
your own process maybe cut some corners that you weren't necessarily cutting
before or find a more efficient way of doing something or perhaps you might be
able to help that GM by saying I know what you tried to do there I can't say
that you succeeded I would have done it differently I would have done it this
way or that way you can compare notes so basically it allows you to get some
insight into your own style or to share your style with those who may not
necessarily know it yet so there's some benefits there and of course it allows
you as the game master to take a break sometimes that's all we need we just
need a little break from running the games and it's refreshing to play you
can sometimes also forget what it's like to be a player and so as a result you
can if sometimes forget the little things by being a player every now and
again it brings you right back to the coalface as it were where you can
experience other GM's and get that perspective so that's why you might want
to bring in other GM's that's why you might want to have a guest GM pop in
every now and again or to have a second GM who's part of the whole process from
the very GetGo if you want a longer-term campaign but the abilities are switching
and switch out what we then have to look at is the disruption because ultimately
this is going to bring about disruption there is no ways that it can't do that
what kind of disruptions are we talking about well the very first one is if the
GM is one of the players and their character suddenly vanishes where did
the PC go did they get stuck on board the ship researching their uncle's diary
did they wander off to start a tavern somewhere if it's in mid campaign and
the party was lost in the middle of a field did they get beamed up or
were consumed by the ground what happened there and how can you overcome
that so well that's something that you can look at and we certainly do handle
that and mechanics later on in the video so stay with us for that so where did
the PC go how do we solve that question it's an interesting one that you do need
to solve the other thing is is if the GM continues to play that character as a GM
PC I've never particularly liked that term but calling them an NPC just seems
to debase them all the way down to cannon fodder nonetheless if they are
going to be played by the GM who's also GM in the game there are all kinds of
problems that come with that and there will be a video coming out when we look
at the GM PC and the problems that come with doing that so that's a problem what
also happens to the main plot if you have a guess GM whose just popping in or
it's a player who wants to try their hand they want to stay in the same world
they want to stay in the same campaign they might want to do a little side
adventure or something along those lines what then happens to the main plot does
it basically go on pause is it like a break in the middle of a TV series what
is the story there we need to find a solution for that which I do handle in
as I said later on in the video and then what about attachments what if we prefer
the new GM to the old GM how is that going to work what happens if our PCs
are attached to something the new GM comes in and they wash it away because
well they didn't see but having any kind of value that also is incredibly
disruptive so you want to look at those kind of components and think well can we
survive without them as they're a way of retconning it is there a way of working
around it I hate the idea of undoing the work the guest GM has done
how'd it defeats the point of having a guest GM in the first place so I bigger
pardon this flu has still not left me in case you can't hear that the idea of
what are the disruptive factors they lead us to start to look for mechanical
solutions that will continue to keep our game fun and entertaining
whilst at the same time capitalizing on some of the benefits that we would get
from having a guest GM and what are those benefits well the benefits is
that suddenly you as the GM you can show and guide your fellow players so you are
the GM / DM of the campaign your players have been struggling with certain key
points and you don't want to bring in an NPC who's going to help them but you
decide that you're gonna have a guest GM come in and whilst that guest GM is
there you're going to play a character who may be able to give them some advice
or some pointers in the right direction it might be very meta gaming to do this
so I would advise that you do it with caution but if you find that your party
is perhaps very murder hobo esque and you haven't tried any of the solutions
in the video on are you a murder hobo or how to deal with murder hobos which are
also on this channel if you find that they are perhaps a little bit too
gung-ho maybe they're a little bit too reluctant
maybe they need a bit of direction in their lives you can create a character
who steps in and shows them the right way to do it it does give it a little
bit more of a hands-on feel and less like an NPC telling them what to do if
you are actually playing it and then are showing them how to do it yourself be
warned this is not a platform for you to show your players how to be a good
player in terms of look I'm such a marvelous player do not brag do not
boast do not say look at what I'm doing in to it like me that does not come
across well rather play the game as you would lead by demonstration rather than
by explanation I always say it does also give you tremendous insight as the GM
into the players and into the player characters there's nothing quite like
having your own character interact with PCs or having your own discussions
postgame with the players to really get an insight into how they think and what
they think so after that GM session has happened the guest GM has left you all
gather around with cups of coffee and hopefully they're saying or what we
really do like the way that you run games this new bloke all this new lass
is not bad but we prefer your hopefully that's what you're getting at least
certain it's always nice for the ego isn't it but the main value of it is to
be able to see how your players think and to position yourself going well this
is what I would do with this new GM what my players
to be thinking about gives you some insight there it is of course a new GM
you might be introducing to the world of the role-playing if you are introducing
a player into the elevated ranks of being a GM that is fantastic and there
is always benefit to having more GM's more GM's mean more games more players
more players mean more GM's more GM's that learn and have good games mean
better games for all of us and it is a wonderful wonderful cycle of good and
better role playing games so whenever you can encourage your player to become
a GM it's a safe space they know the environment they know the world that
you're playing in because they themselves have been playing in it for
quite some time it's a wonderful wonderful and incubation space where new
players can become GM's it also allows you to get feedback so you can see your
own world through the eyes of your own character rather than as the GM you
might have created this Empire which is absolutely wonderful and amazing and a
total authoritarianism interesting ideas in terms of well maybe I should end in a
rebellion group you get a fresh perspective on your own world as nothing
better than visiting your own city and seeing it through the eyes of your own
character rather than as a GM so there are many many benefits to having
somebody else come in and run a game in your space in your environment it really
can give you some insights if you are open to it now that's the important
thing when you are having a guest GM you as the GM in residence you as the master
of this world you need to step back and not stand on that poor GM's tote tails
and prevent them from moving forward if they are running the game it is their
game they can do with it as they will and if that means changing your setting
if that means changing some of your fundamental plans you invited them into
that space you must now accommodate and move forward with it so how do we do
that how do we mechanically make sure that when we have this guest GM who's
bringing in all these benefits who's helping giving us all sorts of wonderful
insights and making us better game masters as we happen to be how do we
make sure that that happens well we look at it from a Macau
perspective when we invite the guests GM into our group into our game we need to
set some boundaries and these boundaries are certainly going to help now there
are many many many options here the boundaries could be that it's a pocket
dimension that the characters have found themselves in so you set it up at the
end of the last adventure that you're going to be running until the new GM has
taken over met the players enter the players characters anyway enter into a
pocket dimension and everything and anything is up for grabs that means your
new guest GM has a whole canvas to work in that's dough all the familiar but
it's now they're familiar and they can do with it as they will that takes your
main plots and puts it on pause basically whilst the PCs are wandering
around in this pocket dimension so you can certainly do something like that you
can of course make the whole thing feel as if it was a dream the PCs are not
actually on this journey they're not actually going through this process they
are dreaming it mechanically if you have a system that requires leveling or
advancement of some kind you will need to accommodate for that
because basically the player goes to play a character goes to sleep and wakes
up the next morning five-level is stronger and with more gold and trinkets
than they had before or do you just wash it all away and the risk with wash it
all away in terms making it a dream is that your players your other players
your regular players might get frustrated by that fact that you need
some kind of rewards to bear that in mind it could be a vision of the future
this is the characters in three months time three years time that way you can
use all of the secrets of using the future dreams and those kinds of things
also I think I've done a video on that you can have a look at that you can use
all of that information that the new GM seated and then repurpose it as your own
it is a vision of a potential future after all not the actual future you can
use elements of it in your game moving forward and it seems as if everything
has still remained part of the same narrative even though it's been a
different gem alternatively you could split the party one party gets onboard a
ship the ship sinks the party is splitted in two different ways as the
ocean currents pull them all from different directions and so that's why
the one PC is missing whilst the other party the rest of the party I should say
continue on this tropical Island Adventure land adventure wherever
they happen to end up splitting the part in a dungeon is a similar kind of effect
where was McNab during this last form week session McNab was down the other
alleyway and when McNab returns ie the GM now resumes back as the player
character if that's the case well he was simply wandering around as a wonderful
example of that if you ever watch a film called Shaun of the Dead very early
British film by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost lovely lovely film as a matter of
fact about zombies there's a on the DVD anyway this is a special section where
they talk about remember when we ran around the corridor or the alleyway and
senso ran off to the left and then the next scene sensor ran in from the other
door well here's what happened in between and they literally take you
through what happened whilst the party was split in the film now of course in
the film you don't pay any attention to it for most of the time and so it's a
wonderful little insight so you can do that reasons to go would be another one
I had an instance where a player couldn't make the game and we wanted to
carry on was any one of five players who couldn't make it so he carried on that
player just happened to be visiting a friend or an aunt or recuperating or
what if the situation appropriate state was the challenge that I ran with that
however was that the party themselves moved significant distance over a
significant time shift as well they were five days ahead of the character and
several hundred miles away from the character when that player returned I
somehow had to then reconcile getting that character to the other characters
on the other side of the planet as a game master that required some rather
creative and inventive ways of doing it I think I managed to pull it off without
the players noticing too much but that is something that you're gonna have to
come up with if the party has been split if they have a reason to go in the
opposite direction unlike dreams visions and pocket
dimensions where it's just this weird little twist of time so time itself
hasn't actually changed location hasn't actually changed then an old trick which
I know used to work for especially for all the groups
the past is a ring of forgetfulness I had a game master who used to run a game
where it was every second Sunday in the afternoon and it was a lot of people who
were busy and they had children and the like and so the group probably comprised
of about eight people and total seven players but never seven players could
attend the same session usually it was about four of the seven so all that the
GM did was that there was a ring that every character had it wasn't voluntary
it was a cursed item and when a player couldn't make it the rest of the group
as far as they were concerned they completely forgot about the players
character and as if there had never existed before any equipment any
memories any thoughts of that player character had was simply erased from
history it did require the players to have a certain amount of mental alacrity
in order to be able to remember in a way that was censor and censor never existed
so that means that that didn't happen or it means that that happened but it was
somebody else who did it there was a definite metagame requirement to do that
you can do the same thing when one of the players becomes a GM or when a new
GM comes in and some weird stuff happens if you can manage it the ring of
forgetfulness is possibly the easiest way out but at the same time it's the
least narrative way out of the situation and some people don't like breaking the
narrative with a meta magic item so to speak so those are the ways and means
that we look at having multiple GM's in our games and why we would want to have
multiple GM's or guest GM's now I have had an instance where I had
two GM's was myself and a friend of mine and I think I've spoken about this
before his responsibility was the rules my responsibility was the story so
whenever I would ask the characters right you're moving through quicksand he
would page through the books quickly to find out the rules for moving through
quicksand they would find the rule than him he would ask the players for the
appropriate roles and such like I would be responsible for describing what
happened if they failed or if they succeeded and then he would be
responsible for combat he would organize the maps beforehand he would organize
the minis we used to use minis on grid in those days I think we were
playing fourth edition Dungeons and Dragons and he would pre preempt all of
that whilst I was doing the shopping montage or the in montage or whatever
the situation was it worked really well and the players seemed to respond to the
quickness with which it allowed for rules decisions to be made as well as
for the game to kind of flow and move forward for him he enjoyed listening to
the story and prepping the rules of the mechanics and the light and we ran that
game for about three months I think before eventually he decided that he'd
like to run his own game and I then switched roles to being the rules
support which everyone decided was generally a bad idea anyway it was a
different approach to running a game it was very interesting we would discuss
plot points we would discuss major plot direction and the like but it was
reliant primarily on myself in terms of the narrative side of things having
guessed geum's I love having yes geum's when I can find
them provided that they are up to the same sort of caliber that my players
expect and are not too different in style from myself and that's something
important if you haven't looked at the video on GM stars I suggest you do
trying to find a GM who fits with your style is probably the better way of
replacing or having a guest GM than bringing in a guest Jim who's very
different in if you bring in a simulation as guest GM and you are a
narrative guest GM you are a narrative GM I should say your players are going
to have a strong disconnect their characters that have been built around a
narrative focus are going to struggle in a simulation as game where they are
looking at reality and making sure that everything is absolutely perfect so try
and align those beforehand by just chatting to the guests GM and saying
well this is however my games this is how I would like you to run the game as
well now if you happen to be a guest GM I think the important thing to bear in
mind is that you are here to breathe life into a campaign perhaps you are
here to shed some insight for the GM who will hopefully be participating as a
character in that world and it's your opportunity I think to take an existing
space take an existing and to create a self-contained short
adventure that you can run with a bunch of experienced characters who have
worked together before and just have a bit of fun playing in somebody else's
world try and learn as much from that gym as possible in terms of how they go
about planning things how they go about setting up things and it's always fun to
play with new characters and new players while new players I should say not new
characters new players and yeah to just have fun if you have any other ways of
how you like to incorporate guest gems or if you yourself are a frequent guest
um and you have some insight please let us know down below we would love to hear
it if you haven't yet heard the news I am
running a live game on Twitch that's twitch.tv /great GM I run a live game
every Monday at 6 p.m. Pacific Standard Time where it's called the broken world
Chronicles and there is all about fractured universes multiple dimensions
and the like where the possibility for guest GM's would be quite good as a
matter of fact because there's the characters step out of one world they
step into another and it's a very different environment and so a different
GM could take over without too much of a problem anyway if you haven't joined me
for that have a look out for it it's a lot of fun Sony just kicked off so you
haven't missed too much if you haven't seen it already but if you want to join
in some shenanigans and see how I plan the shows and how I review the show
there after I do that as well half an hour before the show and half an hour
after the show I break down what my plan is for that particular adventure and
then after the show I break down how I tried to bring it back to what my
original plan was after it has gone through the washing machine of
interacting with my characters and with my players so there's lots of insight
there as well that show is also then released on to my other YouTube channel
that's great GM sessions you can find the link down below where you can then
watch it at your leisure in two one-hour blocks there is also a patreon for that
if you want to support that show and the cost thereof and get access to podcasts
and other bits and pieces you can go and have a look at that at patreon.com
forward slash broken world and I look forward to seeing you whether
it's here whether it's there whether it's on the battlefield itself
who knows hopefully we will get to play together at some point or at least you
and your players get to have a good game either this weekend or next weekend or
whatever it is that you happen to play what I'm trying to say in general is
until next time their very happiest of gaming
