Secret Keyboard Functions You Will Wish You Knew Before (Windows & Macs) - Duration: 9:23.

The keyboard as we know it, meaning the QWERRTY keyboard, was the invention of an American

publisher and politician called Christopher Latham Sholes.

Before we get into shortcuts, you might well ask why the heck are all the keys in that

particular place?

Good question.

It seems there is some contention over the answer, with many saying Sholes created this

weird formation back in 1873 to stop people typing fast, which would prevent jamming of

the metal arms if popular letters were typed too often.

Others say there is no proof for this.

Why do we still use this hard-to-remember random keyboard?

It seems we just do, and as British critic Stephen Fry said, we are stuck with "an

ancient system attached to our most modern devices."

Welcome to this episode of the Infographics Show, Secret Keyboard Functions That You Wish

You Knew.

First of all, what operating system are you using?

Well, let's start with the Windows OS.

Secrecy Let's start with giving you a bit of privacy.

It's so easy to lock your screen with a shortcut.

Simply press the Windows Key and the L key at the same time.

Hey presto, your lock screen is activated.

This also works well if suddenly someone is coming around the corner and you don't want

them to see what you are doing on your computer.

All the windows will be there when you come out of lock screen.

Prank How's about pranking someone who is not

so savvy when it comes to shortcuts.

When your friend is away why not flip their screen?

When they return, they won't know what has happened.

All you need to do to flip the screen is press ALT plus CTRL plus one of the arrow keys.

Ok, so all they need to do is Google how that happened, but some people might get flustered

for a short while.

Not getting caught What's the fastest way to close a web page.

You could argue it is with the mouse, but there's a shortcut that will get rid of

the page in an instant.

All you have to do is hold the Alt button down and press F4.

Another way of quickly making your windows disappear without going to lock screen is

by pressing the Windows key and D. You can't really get any faster than that.

This won't close the windows, by the way, just get rid of them.

The Windows key plus the M key does exactly the same thing.

A shortcut If you don't have a mouse handy, try pressing

the shift key as well as F10.

This will do the same as right clicking on your mouse.

Getting to My Computer A super-fast way to get to My Computer is

by pressing the Windows Key plus the letter E. This actually does save quite a bit of

time.

Run user, Run Ok, so you probably know this one.

But if you want to run a program all you have to do is press the Windows key plus the letter

R. This will open the dialogue box.

Type what you want into that box, say documents, and you will see your docs.

You can look for files, programs or Internet resources.

Oh no, I accidently closed the widow So, you accidently closed a window and you

forgot exactly what you were looking at.

You're thinking, ok, just go to history and look there.

But there is a shortcut that makes life much easier.

Simply press CTRL plus Shift and the letter T, and voila, there is the last window, the

one you closed by accident.

Multi-tasking A cool way to play with the taskbar is click

on the Windows key plus the letter T. This will take you to the taskbar.

All you have to do then is use the arrow keys to select what you want.

Fast screenshot Want to take a screenshot, the thing you are

presently seeing in front of you?

All you have to do is press the ALT key with the print screen key, usually see as PRT SC.

Playing Games Want to find all the games you have on your

computer as fast as possible.

Simple press the Windows key plus the letter G.

Zooming Ok, you should know this one.

If you want to zoom in, perhaps you can't see something right, just press the ALT key

as well as the + key.

When you want to zoom back out just do the same

except press the – key.

This helps when you don't have your glasses with you.

Killing the process So, have you ever had something hang on you

and all you want to do is stop the process?

Usually you might go to Task manager to do that, but there is a much faster way to do

it.

Simply press CTRL plus SHIFT plus ESC and the process will be killed.

Minimize An easy way to minimize the screen is by pressing

the Windows key and then the down arrow.

You can reverse that by doing the same with the up arrow.

Undoing things Ok, so it's not hard to hit the reverse

arrow with your mouse and undo things.

But there is a shortcut, and all you have to do to undo something is hit the CTRL key

with the Z key.

To reverse that just do the same except hit the Y key.

Open a new file Again, this isn't much of a secret, but

not everyone will know it.

If you want to open a new file, simply hit the CTRL key with the O key.

Need another Window If you want to quickly open a new window you

can hit the CTRL key plus the N key.

Need Help Want some Windows support?

Simply press the Windows key plus F1.

Peekaboo Want to quickly have a look at your desktop

without closing any windows?

Perhaps even just get rid of what you have in front of you.

Just press the Windows key plus the comma and it will let you look at the desktop.

As soon as you release the keys you'll be back to your windows.

Easy taskbar If you count what is in your taskbar, you

can hold down the Windows key and hit a number that corresponds to what is in the taskbar.

So, if Chrome is third in the taskbar, hit the Windows key and the number 3 and Chrome

will open.

Jump List You can do something similar when you press

the Windows Key plus the ALT key plus the number that corresponds to the app in the

taskbar.

Only now you'll get a Jump List, which is the same as if you right clicked on the app.

Minimize all Windows You can see all your Windows as small screens

on your desktop if you press the Windows key plus the Tab key.

Need to change language fast Maybe you write in two languages or you find

yourself on a computer and someone has been typing in a different language.

To quickly change the language simply hit the Windows key and the spacebar.

Moving through tabs Hit CTRL plus Shift plus the tab key and you

will move through your open windows.

Copy the URL A fast way to select the URL without moving

your mouse along it is by pressing ALT plus D. You can also press Alt plus E and that

will open the space, so you can search for a new URL.

Changing size of things Maybe the easier way to change the size of

what you are looking at is to press the CTRL key and then move the mouse wheel.

It couldn't be faster or easier.

Move back and forth between browsers

Want to quickly go back to the previously viewed browsers?

Just press ALT plus the left arrow.

You can reverse that by pressing ALT plus the right arrow key.

Emojis If you want to see a bunch of emojis just

press the Windows Key with the period key.

Utility Ok, this is simple, but useful.

To quickly open the utilities just press the Windows key plus the letter U.

What about if your using the Mac operating system?

Closing windows Command plus the letter W is a useful one

as you will close the window you are in.

If you hit Option plus Command plus W you will close all the active windows.

Preferences Not many people know this, but if you press

Command plus the comma key you will see the preferences for the app you are in.

Spotlight Want to see Spotlight, just press the Command

and space key.

Address Bar If you want to go to the address bar and start

searching just hit the Command and L key.

Moving around Want to go back to what you previously had

in the browser, just hit the Command key with the left arrow key.

To reverse that, do the same but hit the right arrow key.

Moving more If you want to move between windows in the

app you are in, simply use the Command and backtick shortcut.

Oops Remember in Windows we talked about accidentally

closing a page and then having to go into history to find it again – if we didn't

know the shortcut.

Well, you can do that on an Apple OS, too, just by pressing Command plus Shift plus T.

This is one of our favorites as it happens so often.

Spelling!

What if you quickly want to go through all your spelling mistakes in a document?

You can quickly go through them all by pressing Command plus the Semicolon key.

Knowing Want to know what a word means?

Just select that word and then hit Control plus Command plus the letter D and the meaning

will be made known to you.

Faster way to get rid of things Usually when you delete words it does it one

letter at the time.

But if you press Option plus Delete you will see words disappearing, not letters.

Hiding things again If you quickly want to hide all active windows

just hit Command plus the H key.

Peekaboo again Just like in Windows, you can quickly take

a peek at your desktop by pressing the Command key plus the F3 key.

It will stay that way as long as you hold the keys down.

Screenshot To take a screenshot of the entire screen

simply hit Command plus Shift plus the number 3.

If you do the same but hit the number 4 this will take only part of your screen.

Ok, so that's about all the shortcuts we will give you today.

How many of these did you already know, can you add something super cool to this list?

Tell us in

the comments.

How to Make This The Year You FINALLY Get A Happier Teen {SO EASY!} - Duration: 7:14.

Hey, everybody, it's Mallory Grimste

from mallorygrimste.com and I'm here today coming live

because I've been talking a lot this week

about setting goals and how you can help get a happier teen.

So if you enjoy learning more about helping teens

feel better together and you are a teen

or you know a teen that's struggling with depression,

anxiety, low self-esteem and just looking for helpful,

useful strategies that you can start using today

to get to where you wanna be,

make sure that you click Follow or Subscribe

so you never miss an update.

So today is all about how to make this the year

that you finally get a happier teen.

I'm going to be sharing three,

yep, that's one, two, three different ways

that you can start finally getting a happier teen this year

and make sure you stick all the way to the end

because I'll be sharing a bonus technique as well

but before we get started, if you're new here,

don't skip this part.

This is just my little mini disclaimer to let you know

that even though I am a licensed mental health therapist

in the state of Connecticut, this information right here

is only being provided to you for educational

informational purposes only.

Is is not psychotherapy or counseling

and it's to be used at your own risk

based on your own judgment.

If you need to speak with a professional,

make sure to contact one local to you.

Alright, so let's get into it.

Strategy number one, stop talking and start listening.

One of the magical things that happens in counseling

and therapy is that this is the space

where you can freely share

all the stuff that's coming at you

and floating around in your head

and as teenagers, our teens need that time and space as well

so it's totally normal as a helper or a parent

or even a friend.

You just wanna jump in there and help them feel better

and like hey, I know what to do, have you tried this

but most of the time they don't need that.

They've probably already thought of it

and they're just needing to sort it out

and some of us are verbal processors especially teenagers

so being able to just sit back and listen and let them talk

is probably one of the best things that you can do.

It will help them learn to rely on their own intuition

and gut and help you be able to look for

and listen for key nuggets that they may not drop in

unless you stop talking and start listening

a little bit more.

Number two, let them know they're not crazy.

We all have all sorts of complicated thoughts,

negative thinking.

I mean, the way we talk to ourselves is ridiculous.

I would never talk to a friend

the way that I talk to myself sometimes in my head

and with all these thoughts and feelings

and hormones coming at you when you're a teenager,

you just wanna know that you're normal,

that you're not crazy for feeling this way.

Even if you think it's ridiculous to get upset

because that girl Chelsea thinks that green pencils

aren't cool anymore, it's important to your teen.

So if you just hang back

and let them say what they need to do

and be like, you know what, it makes sense

that it's important that Chelsea

thinks that your green pencil is cool

and it makes sense that you'd get upset that she doesn't.

That's it, just validate them.

Let them know that they're not crazy.

Alright.

Strategy number three, practice what you preach.

We've all heard of monkey see, monkey do.

This holds true for teenagers too.

Think about when they're toddlers

and you'd be talking on the phone in the next room.

You really think they're not paying attention

and then like five minutes later,

they're repeating your conversation verbatim.

Teenagers do the same thing.

They're always on the lookout to see can you be trusted

to say what you mean and mean what you say?

So if you're talking about

have some fun, don't stress out,

don't make it all about schoolwork

for your stressed out teenager,

make sure that you're doing the same thing too.

So you can't expect to be a workaholic

and expect your teenager not to follow suit.

So if you're telling them to have more fun,

make sure that you are too.

Alright, before we get into the bonus,

I do wanna share we do still have space

in our teen girls therapy groups

and we are accepting new members

so go on over to mallorygrimste.com

and submit an application if you're local

to the Woodbridge, Connecticut area

and think that your teen could benefit from group therapy.

We go over a lot more of these strategies

in teen girls therapy group

and parents also get a bonus weekly email

with tips just like this particular to what we're going over

in group so you can continue supporting

your teen girls at home.

Alright, here's the bonus.

If you do these three strategies around their friends,

it will magnify the results 'cause here's the thing.

As much as teenagers are looking

to the adults in their lives to practice what they preach,

it's what their friends think and say

that's really gonna make the impact.

So if you are listening more and not talking as much,

if you are letting them know that they're not crazy

for having their feelings

and experiencing what they wanna experience

and if you practice what you preach

all around their friends,

their friends are gonna pay attention and listen to that too

and then when Susie Q is out and about in the world

and venting to their friends,

their friends are gonna be like, hey,

have you tried such and such?

They may not give you credit.

They probably won't but they're paying attention

and they're taking that information in

and so if their friends say the same thing,

they're gonna listen that much more

and that is the magic of group therapy.

This is why I love running groups

because I could say these things,

you could say these things,

other people could be saying these things

but until another teenager says the same thing,

it sometimes doesn't land the same way.

Oh, Patti says great info, thanks for sharing.

Oh, thank you.

Happy to do that.

So if you enjoyed this, please make sure

that you go ahead and subscribe or follow.

I'm so, so happy that you're here with me.

I plan on doing these even more in the future

so if you have a question or feedback, please let me know

and let me know in the comments how are you making sure

that this is the year that you finally get a happier teen?

Can't wait to hear what you all have to say

and be well and have a great rest of your day.

Rovell: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Buster Douglas' 42-to-1 Upset Over Mike Tyson - Duration: 2:08.

On Tuesday night, ESPN will air a new "30 for 30" documentary called "42 to 1," a reference to the long shot odds that Buster Douglas had for his 1990 fight against Mike Tyson

But there's plenty to clear up about "42-to-1" odds story. 1. All sportsbooks offered odds on when Tyson would knock out Douglas, but only one — the Mirage — offered bettors the chance to bet on Tyson or Douglas straight-up

"We were booking Tyson fights and, as he continued to crush people, the underdogs were going from 6-to-1 to 8-to-1," recalled Jimmy Vaccaro, the head bookmaker at the Mirage at the time

"At some point, it's like what's the point in offering it anymore. It's like, who would offer a moneyline on Centenary vs Alabama if they're a 65-point underdog?" The most popular bet across Vegas was for Tyson to drop Douglas and end the fight in either Round 2 or 3

2. Anything offered above 10-to-1 would have made Douglas the biggest Heavyweight underdog of all time

Prior to Tyson-Douglas, the greatest underdog to win a heavyweight title was James Braddock, known to many as "Cinderella Man," beating Max Baer in 1935

Braddock was a 10-to-1 underdog. The pre-fight clippings are hilarious to read now because they are such cold takes, none colder than Orlando Sentinel columnist Brian Schmitz, who, in his column a day before the fight, wanted to charge fight promoter Don King with fraud

Wrote Schmitz: "When you're trying to persuade people to believe Douglas has a chance, false advertising is encouraged, if not a time-honored tradition — the fight racket

" 4. No matter how high the Mirage raised the odds, bets on Tyson kept coming in

Beginning Contemporary Class I Follow Along Dance With @MissAuti - Duration: 12:11.

- Hey friends,

today I'm gonna be teaching you

a contemporary dance routine,

and this is geared more towards beginners.

So I'm gonna be teaching you every single movement

one by one just like you're in class with me,

and then I'll show you the whole combo

at the end with music.

This way you can practice at home, and learn a dance.

Alright guys so, I know that some of you have been

commenting about wanting the videos

mirrored from behind, but the problem with that

is that filming through the mirror

kind of makes me look a little bit smaller,

so it would actually be harder to see the movement.

So I'll make sure I explain it super clearly

so that you know what's happening.

Alright, so we're gonna start parallel,

and you're gonna start with a rounded back over.

We're gonna come up to our knees,

and then stand all the way up,

your right hand crosses to your left shoulder,

your left hand crosses to your right shoulder,

then you pull them apart,

and you release your right arm out with your palm up.

Let's try that again.

So we go round back,

seven, eight, we go knees,

stand, right, left,

open, extend, and look.

From here, I wrote toss a coin

in my choreography book because

(distant chattering)

before we rudely interrupted,

we are tossing a coin.

So our right arm is extended,

we're looking towards that palm.

We toss the coin, follow the arm

until it frames your face, okay?

And from you framing your face,

you pull up to your chest.

My right hand's on my chest,

my left hand is kind of on my rib and belly button.

Okay, so let's run that back from the tip top.

We're in a flat back, we go knees,

up, that reminded me of like

♪ Head and shoulders ♪

(laughs) okay, alright, and we're back.

We're here, flat back, we go knees, up,

cross to your left, cross to your right,

open, extend, look to your right,

toss your coin, frame your face,

plié, chest, belly button, kinda?

Should we try that with music?

I'm like talking to you like you're gonna answer me (laughs)

let's try that with music.

(lighthearted guitar music) five, six, seven, eight.

Knees, stand, cross, cross,

open, arm, toss,

frame, lay up, good.

'Kay, (snaps) where are we?

Where are we?

Oh, we're here.

'Kay, immediately after you lift,

you step right, and then your left foot's

gonna cross in front when your arms drop, okay?

So we went

step right, cross left.

We're doing a chaîné which you should know people, yeah?

A chaîné, and then you press down with your palms,

a little bit of drama.

Okay, so we're here.

Step right, cross left,

chaîné, push down.

My left foot is up on a nice, steady point,

I'm gonna open across, and open up to the ceiling

with my left arm.

So one more time, we went push,

left arm threads and opens,

and then we push back down with our palms.

Okay, from here you really have to squeeze your booty

'cause you're gonna fall over if you don't.

You squeeze into a nice grand plié, you're gonna push,

and lift to an enveloppé.

Let's rewind, okay?

We went palms, open,

palms, grand plié,

I'm using my left foot to push into the floor, and up,

and my right leg is going straight to a passé.

Straight, to a passé.

My arms are going out,

and out.

Out, and out,

all together is grand plié, out, and out.

You're gonna step in front,

turn over your left shoulder,

and reach your right arm up.

I think I'm gonna show that,

rewind, what do you think, Brae?

- Yeah, it's rewind time!

- Rewind!

Okay, (exhales) I'm out of breath.

Let's go from the top, okay, we're here.

Five, six, seven, eight.

Knees, stand, cross, cross, open, arm,

toss, frame, plié, lift,

right, left,

chaîné, palms,

open, palms,

grand enveloppé,

step, extend.

Whoa, let's try that with music.

(lighthearted guitar music) Five, six, seven, eight.

Knees, up, cross, cross,

open, and toss, frame,

plié, up, step, chaîné,

push, open, push,

grand enveloppé,

step, reach.

Try that a kajillion times.

Okay guys, so you're now facing the back.

You have your right foot as the primary supporting leg,

you're reaching with your right arm.

I'm now gonna tuck my left leg,

from here, you sit onto your left butt cheek,

'kay, you roll to the front,

you roll onto your knees facing the back.

From here, you sit right butt cheek,

right hand, lay all the way down.

That's an easy part (chuckles)

okay, let's try that again.

So you have extension facing the back,

tuck left knee, sit left butt cheek,

roll right-left to the front, sit on your knees

facing the back, right butt cheek,

right hand, lay down.

From here, from here,

you're gonna curl in like you're having a little moment,

a little drama moment to yourself,

you're gonna extend back out,

you're gonna curl back in, I'll show you what I mean.

So you curl in, extend out, curl in,

then you're gonna roll on your back,

the left leg goes up, right leg goes up,

left leg tucks, right leg tucks.

So now you're facing the front, okay?

Let's stand up and try it again.

We are somewhere.

Okay we're here,

tuck in the left butt cheek, roll to the front,

face the back, butt cheek,

right hand, lay back,

in, out,

in, left, right, lay on your left side.

From here, you're just sitting up

by pushing on your right hand,

and you're coming out like this with your,

what are these called?

Your feet. (chuckles)

Your feet flat on the floor.

Now this next part looks kind of complicated

if you haven't done a shoulder roll before,

but it's not that bad.

So, here's what your shoulder roll looks like.

First of all, you're gonna extend straight out

before you roll, and then you're going to roll back,

tuck your knees,

tuck your toes, stand up.

So I'm gonna break that shoulder roll down for you.

I go over my right shoulder, but you can go over

your left shoulder, so whichever way feels better

for you to tuck your neck in, do that way.

You don't have to do right side,

do what feels better for your body.

Again, straight legs,

so the first movement is to roll back.

It's really hard to do slow, so I'm gonna do my best

to teach you.

But you need to roll into the teeny tiniest

little rollie pollie ball you possible can.

Then when you're rolling,

you tuck your chin into your chest,

and your eyes are supposed to look at your belly button.

So think of yourself going from here to here.

But you're rolling over your shoulder.

Just try it a couple times.

If you have mats like those ones,

or just a carpet, or something that's not like cement

(laughs) I recommend practicing on that first.

So remember to just keep it as tight and compact

as possible, and just

send your body backwards, okay?

Let me know how that goes, so we're here.

We push out, we tuck and roll,

I'm landing on my knees first, putting my hands down,

tucking my toes, coming up straight.

Where am I going?

I still have the rest of the dance to teach you.

Okay, we are almost to the end guys.

So we come up, we're beautiful, we roll,

we might be dizzy, it's okay, don't show fear.

We're here, we roll our shoulders forward,

and push our palms down.

Now, I'm gonna softly wave to the left,

wave to the right, and I'm gonna come up here,

and then I do two sinks,

one, two.

Then, I extend my left leg into a big lunge

as my hands kinda pull like a curtain open.

Lunge, come together with other foot, and stand up.

You've made it to the end,

let's try that again.

So we went shoulder roll, stood up,

roll, push, wave left, wave right,

right hand to your chest,

left hand up, two sinks, one, two,

open the curtain, lunge with your left,

right leg comes into your left, and we stand up.

Let's try it from the tip top.

You guys, if there's any parts that you

are kind of having trouble with, go back and rewind them.
