Waching daily Jan 25 2019

We already got a guy from the city,

"Oh, you can't park your RV on the grass, you must move it."

-Really? -He came this morning, yeah.

-Are you serious? -Yeah.

He's retarded.

Or you can put it here.

Yeah, we gotta move, I told him, "We've just moved in here."

He said, "Yeah, that's fine. Just move it later."

Like a fucking inspector and shit.

-So, do we have to paint, or no? -No.

We gotta do some touch-ups in here, but...

that's about it.

-How are you? -I'm good, and you?

Good to meet you.

This is so nice. It's like you're rich,

you're a millionaire.

-Look at this. -And you get a fucking pool?

-Yeah. -It's so cheap, man, in here.

Look at that.

Oh, they already came and cleaned the pool this morning.

It was dirty and shit.

A bunch of leaves and stuff.

So, you rent, you get a pool... Well, I guess the noise...

There are somethings that they're gonna fix in here.

But check this out, dude.

[unintelligible]

Look at this.

So, whoever rents it, can park their boats?

Yeah, we can rent the dock for somebody else to park their boat.

-Yeah. -Right? That's one thing.

We can... We can buy a used boat,

park here and just rent the boat,

as an extra Airbnb room experience, you know what I mean?

It's really low.

No, it's just this part. Look...

Look how big they have the boats here.

Look at that... They have some huge boats.

It's just this part right here.

Is this for lobsters?

Oh, shit, I didn't even know that shit was in...

Oh, there's a fish in here. Look at that!

-Look, he got caught! -Look at that!

This is how you fish!

-We can put baits and shit in here. -Yeah.

Allan!

Yeah, look. They go in through here,

and then they swim and they're trapped.

Call Allan.

Look at that. I didn't even know that shit was here.

I thought it was a lobster trap.

Look at all these things...

It came with the house.

-Amazing. -How do you take it out, the fish?

I have no idea.

That poor fish is going to be trapped there.

We gonna... I wanna release him.

How? I'll find a way.

It's midday and the second day

of the AirbTheBoss project.

The guys are inside building the furniture.

I'm supposed to go back and do the second round of shopping.

Now we gotta buy the accessories, the artwork

and all the other stuff that creates the atmosphere

on this Airbnb.

Unfortunately, my partner has just arrived from Canada

saying that we have a last minute meeting

with our accountant here in Miami.

So, I'm gonna drop everything off and go have the meeting,

and we're gonna have a little bit of a setback

but I'm hoping... It's gonna be tough,

that we can finish this on time.

Uhm... my goal is to have an awesome Thanksgiving party

at this Airbnb the day after tomorrow.

So, stay tuned.

Unruly Heroes: The Message You Missed - Duration: 13:34.

Unruly Heroes is an up and coming game that you're about to hear about because it just

got released!

That's right, we got ourselves some early copies because this video is sponsored by

Unruly Heroes, which you can check out using our link in the description!

And while you may look at this game and not quite know what to say about it, in reality,

Unruly Heroes is portraying a tale as old as time.

Well, actually it's about 500 years old, but hey, that's still some old ass storytelling.

Unruly Heroes was influenced by the ancient Chinese tale, Journey to the West.

While Journey to the West is fictional, it is (like many great stories) based off of

real-life people who actually did real-life things.

In this case, a chinese monk named Xuanzang.

1,400 years ago Xuanzang traveled to India from China.

He went west.

His goal was to do buddhist stuff, and buddhist stuff he did.

This, of course, was in the opposition to the Chinese emperor's wishes, but it ended

up being chill and no one got too butt hurt about it, that's the zen way am i right?

Upon his return, Xaunzang brought a bunch of stuff back from his journey to help out

the chinese buddhists, apparently their scriptures sucked, they needed most complete and better

translate ones.

After he got back they built the big wild goose pagoda, (yeah that's actually the

name of it) to house all their new buddhist stuff in what is modern day x'ian

This is a big deal people!

The journey xuanzang took was a long one across some pretty dangerous country just to do some

hardcore learning, not to mention doing it against the emperor's wishes and risking not

being able to come back to the tang dynasty.

And i don't know about you, but i think we all wanna be a part of the sweet tang dynasty.

It was a kick in the glass, The events of buddha boy's life were so

significant to chinese culture that his story was not only written into the anus of history's

annals but then novelized hundreds of years later into one of the greatest stories ever

told by humans on earth.

Journey to the west.

You may have heard of this 2000 page book but my guess is you probably haven't read

it unless you had to.

It's not exactly light reading.

However if you haven't heard of it consider it the star wars of china/all of asia.

Or the lord of the rings if you're like that.

It's a big deal, just not so much to us western folk, or so you thought pilgrim!

Thankfully Buddhists are pretty good about writing stuff down, not that much of it makes

much sense… sound of one hand clapping and all that….

But the historical significance of this journey… is significant.

Hence the existence of Unruly Heroes!

Xuanzang's little trip is not only responsible for the epic tale transcribed in this game,

but it also created some of the greatest pop culture tropes of OUR day and age.

Is that surprising?

ARE YOU SURPRISED?!

You're surprised.

Now we get games thrown at us pretty much on the daily but we only talk about the ones

we ourselves are interested in, that we think you might like.

So sit back, relax, light some candles and drop that pomegranate bath bomb into the tub

baby.

We're going to go on a journey in the west-ward direction.

First off let's talk about Unruly Heroes.

It was developed by magic design studios.

Cool guys BUT more importantly you play through 29 levels across 4 worlds, including an incredibly

unique "Underworld" world.

Slight spoilers here: but in the underworld you regress to a childhood self thats invincible,

but you need to protect your soul while attempting to gain an audience with the Kings of the

Underworld.

The soul is an important game mechanic, when characters die, you can resurrect them by

hitting their floating souls, with another hero.

Each hero has unique special abilities to help the team progress through the stages.

The next thing i noticed was the art style which is non hyperbolically fantastic, but

also extremely reminiscent of well, rayman.

Particularly rayman origins.

Which turns out, was a project members of magic design studios worked on during tenure

at Ubisoft.

Needless to say i was pretty sure this was gonna be good.

Basically it's got all the excellent look and feel of rayman with a much cooler premise

and historical connotations.

The history lesson in the beginning wasn't just for fun!

Nay!

It was a setup for the following paragraph!

Here's the paragraph!

See, the eastern world and the western world are still to this day extremely different

places.

A big reason for that is because they differ in schools of thought.

Where for the last 2000 years the western world focused on abrahamic religions like

judaism, christianity and islam, the east focused primarily on hinduism, buddhism, taoism

and confucianism.

There could not be a bigger cultural divide than that.

Whether you're religious or not if you live this side of the middle east, Jesus has affected

your life.

His teachings exist in our laws, our speech, even the way we dress.

It's something that is so ingrained in our culture it's not noticeable unless studied

or pointed out.

Same thing goes with the east, religious or philosophical thought patterns on that large

a scale become as natural as breathing.

Long story short because of our cultures we literally see the world in different ways.

Our languages are built differently and emphasize things like subject and object completely

differently.

In english you would say "he threw the ball," whereas in japanese you would say "he the

ball threw" but if you already knew who "he" was, you would just say "the ball

threw," making the ball more important than the person who threw it, where as in english

the person throwing it is the most important part of the sentence, he is the object of

attention.

For some this leads to confusion and xenophobia, for me it leads to fascination and appreciation.

This leads us back to our story.

Like many things from the other side of the planet, journey to the west as a novel hasn't

reached the minds of the western masses yet.

But as an idea it has.

Let's see if you can piece some things together based solely off of unruly heroes.

You play as four main characters, switching between them to help solve puzzles or platforming

challenges.

They are Sanzang the wise, Wukong the fearless monkey, Kihong the greedy pig and Sandmonk

the sensitive brute.

Sanzang uses seven orbs to attack and looks like a monk, wukong is a monkey with a pole

that extends during attack, kihong is a pig guy with what looks like a rake and sand monk

looks like depictions of a middle eastern djinn, or evil genie spirit thing for y'all

non cultured pilgrims.

Do you see?

Do you see yet with your minds eye why this is so familiar?

Well let's talk about the actual story of journey to the west.

Like i said, it's a long story so this will be abbreviated.

Also spoilers?

I mean it's been over 500 years you've had time to read this.

Sun wukong is a monkey demon who was born from a rock, he learns a lot of kung fu and

stuff from his master as well as tao techniques to transform into a bunch of things, be able

to make copies of himself as well as become kind of immortal.

He's a mischievous impulsive fool, who is also incredibly intelligent at the same time.

Throughout his early journeys he becomes the handsome monkey king.

To protect his monkeys he goes to the dragon king and steals his pillar which is really

a pole that can change in size and weighs like 20,000 pounds.

Look familiar?

Wukong in the game has a big monkey pole too, it also changes sizes based on attacks or

to cross large gaps.

He's just not as op cause it wouldn't be as fun.

Novel wukong was so strong he kicked all the ass, so heaven got scared of him and brought

him up there to tend to the horses.

Wukong thought that was cool until he figured out it was the lowest job he could have, he

rebelled, beat up literally everyone in heaven, ate all the immortality peaches, drank all

the immortality wine, did some other things he shouldn't have and then pissed on the buddha's

finger.

That last one got him sealed under a buddha rock for 500 years.

Until guanyin a goddess (or bodhisattva depending on which eastern religion you're in) decided

that someone had to go pick up some super buddha scrolls in india to save sinful southern

china.

That guy turned out to be tang sanzang who is kinda moses and jesus rolled into one.

Also he was a monk so he ironically got no tang ever.

He's sets upon this pilgrimage but is utterly helpless and hopeless until he finds wukong

under that buddha rock and sets him free.

Also there's a headband wukong gets stuck with to keep him in check, if sanzang chants

the headache chant it squeezes wukongs head and incapacitates him.

They then meet a shape shifting pig guy with an iron rake who truly appreciates that tang

dynasty if you know what i'm saying, long story short they mess up his plans and get

him to come along with them.

Then finally they meet a dude who was pretending to be a dragon and messing with people trying

to cross a river, turns out this guy was supposed to help them too and he joins up.

His english translation is sandy for some reason and his weapon is a crescent moon spade.

After this set up the tale becomes an anime "monster of the week" kind of story.

Every few chapters a new demon shows up bent on eating sanzang because his flesh apparently

grants immortality.

Now obviously these four characters are the heroes of unruly heroes, and from what i can

tell the game starts off roughly around the "monster of the week" sagas in the journey

to the west story which it follows it very loosely.

There's many homages to the actual novel, and your main guide is definitely guanyin.

Unruly heroes is 100% the best way to get your video game slice of this story.

Some of the best demons and settings from journey to the west are used in unruly heroes,

but no spoilers!

You can even possess certain demons and use them to your will like in oddworld! but what

of the cultural significance of journey to the west as a whole?

Has your brain been tickled enough yet?

Well here's your answer.

First let's look at another game briefly: overwatch.

Two years ago for chinese new year overwatch released new skins to celebrate the event.

Zenyatta, reinhart, roadhog and winston all received costumes directly from journey to

the west.

Zenyatta as sanzang, reinhart as sandy or sha wujing, roadhog as pigsy or zhu bajie

and winston as sun wukong.

Sanzang's orbs in unruly heroes are reminiscent of zenyatta's orbs, but what they actually

are are spiritual representations of the seven factors of awakening, the steps a monk must

take to reach enlightenment.

But thats just a recent example, wukong appears in a ton of games, even kirby.

However the most relevant examples are in anime, particularly shonen anime.

If you sit back and think of how many anime revolve around a group of young boys going

on an odyssey it becomes clear exactly how powerful and important journey to the west

really is… in the east.

But here's one of the biggest examples.

Dragon ball.

The entirety of this show was loosely based on journey to the west.

In fact in japanese, sun wukong is translated to none other than son goku.

His nimbus cloud is a vehicle wukong received in the novel and game, his strength, his ignorance,

his tail, turning into a giant ape, and even his freaking power pole is directly taken

from this story.

Even his weakness of being grabbed by the tail is an homage to wukong's headache crown

there.

Oolong the perverted shape shifting pig general is bajie, bulma plays the role of sanzang

and yamcha, the desert bandit plays the role of sandy.

Even the oxking and his palace on fire mountain are direct rips from journey to the west,

being fire mountain and the bull king demon.

There's other less obvious examples of this, like inuyasha.

Inuyasha himself has many traits of wukong, but none more than the necklace he wears around

his neck which keeps him incapacitated when kagome who plays the sanzang role says "sit

boy."

Miroku plays the bajie role (hence his perversion) and sango is sha wujing.

Even naruto borrows from this story in the use of the monkey spirit son goku, but his

signature move the clone jutsu is one of sun wukongs favorite and most iconic abilities.

You can probably think of more and i'd like to hear about it so post down in the comments

below your favorite references to this story.

Unruly Heroes is the most recent example of media using Journey to the West to drive the

plot and characters of a story.

Thankfully if you play video games you should have easy access to it cause it's on the

switch, xbox1, ps4, and pc!

It takes a known story and gives us an entire world to play in, while still driving home

the best parts of Journey To The West.

The characters, the weapons, the bosses, the setting, everything is derived from this tale

in a way that feels natural and appreciated while still having a humorous side.

Plus, it's got up to 4 player co-op and online pvp for you sadists out there.

There's plenty to keep any player glued to the screen for a good amount of time, lots

of stuff to collect, checklists to fill and a ton of art to unlock.

It controls fluidly allowing for access to all skill levels and is coupled with a beautiful

art design and most importantly some cultural relevance you can immerse yourself in at your

leisure.

I mean, who even reads books nowadays anyway?

Check it out using our link in the description and have your own Journey to the West, featuring

some truly unruly heroes.

I'm Grant that's all I've got for today.

Bye!

Three New Scope Lines?! Bushnell Prime, Nitro, & Forge Overview - Duration: 25:42.

welcome to the optics Renaissance I am not exaggerating when I say that right

now is probably the best time in the history of the world to be able to go

out and find a scope for your rifle or handgun basically you can take whatever

your individual needs are your individual gun go out to any of the

major manufacturers and you're not just going to find a scope that works

perfectly well for what you need to get done but you can probably pick your

price point as well and maybe scale back features or scale them up if you want

and one of the companies that has been leading the charge and all this recently

is Bushnell not only have they swapped out some of their older models they've

just gone ahead and thrown out everything and they have come up with a

bunch of new lines all at the same time last year we took a look at the Bushnell

engage which was just an amazing little scope very very clear glass excellent

resolution edge to edge great color reproduction at a just a fantastic cost

it is very affordable for people that want to be able to go long range or

you know kind of intermediate range great little scope but now they've gone

and they've added these three whole new tiers and we're gonna be taking a look

at some individual models right there here I'm Kyle Broderick welcome to the

social regressive we have all kinds of awesome scope reviews coming up here in

the future make sure you like share subscribe and actually when it comes to

these three that we have here on the table we're gonna be doing some

long-term reviews on these you're probably gonna see some field footage

there might be some hunting all kinds of great stuff coming up

so what we have here on the table we have the Bushnell prime which is going

to be their new kind of budget scope down there we have the Bushnell nitro

which is going to be a great mid tier maybe just so it's gonna be definitely

higher than your engage the glass on this is every bit as excellent as it was

on the engage but it's gonna add some extra things on here including FFP and

then back here we have the Bushnell forge which is going to provide it's

going to take a lot of those elite tactical sort of glass and other goodies

like some of the reticles and things and it's going to make it more of a hunting

style scope a little lighter a little smaller and a little bit lower in price

as well so we're gonna take a look at all three of these today and just kind

of describe what's going on at Bushnell right now and how you might want to look

at these three scopes again we are going to be taking a close look at each of

these over time but we're just gonna break this down and show you what's

going on at Bushnell right now let's start at the top end with the forge a

lot of you are going to recognize the rifle that it's attached to this is the

savage axis rifle that we worked on for so long it's a seven millimeter

oh wait rifle and this has connected in a 30 mile an hour crosswind at 1450 plus

yards this is a heck of a rifle and I think it's going to work out really well

especially with this scope attached to it so what this is imagine taking one of

the elite tactical rifles or rifle scopes like the HD mr2 or the XRS to

that we've taken a look at in the past and just loved and then you can scale

some things back just a little bit this has a lot of the technology from there

and it has a very similar reticle what's in here right now this is the deploy

milliradian ffp reticle inside here and this has a lot of data in there this is

the kind of reticle that I just love for hunting for target plinking for

everything I'm a big fan of getting lots of data in a reticle some of you may not

like this quite so much and they do have some other options you can get second

focal plane first focal plane MOA milliradian they have really pulled

out the stops on this scope this is just flatly amazing before we delve into the

awesome features of this scope I just wanted to go over some of its basic

stats this is a 30 millimeter tube not a 34 like you're gonna get on the HD mr2

in the XRS - this is going to lead to not all that much elevation and windage

adjustment I'll put the the stats here on the screen but out here we do have a

50 millimeter objective with an excellent lens in here this collects a

whole lot of light past dusk is going to do a great job for you

hunters especially this is designed to be a hunting scope and one that can be

taken out into the real world and kind of beat around this is going to be able

to take a hit I think I'm expecting that this tube is going to be a little bit

thicker than usual again you know we do have not much elevation and windage

adjustment and I think part of that is gonna come down to extra thickness they

put in this too some of it's also going to come down to larger lenses I imagine

because this the image through here is just beautiful but I'm getting ahead of

myself 50 millimeter objective and then the

zoom ratio on here is 6x which i think is just perfect since this is a first

focal plane scope in this case 6x is just about right if you start getting up

into 8 X + 10 X you get into some of these where the reticle is too small

when you're zoomed all the way out and when you're zoomed in it's really thick

fat you can't actually see your target on the other side it's just a huge

occlusion inside your scope 6 X I think is just perfect and especially coupled

with this particular reticle however they have these lenses set up the exit

pupil is simply gigantic we're talking about a four-inch eye relief on this

scope which is but about another half inch longer than just about any other

scope that I've ever dealt with I'm used to having to mount the scopes on the

furthest rear rail right here and you can see that I actually have it pushed

forward one just so I can get enough distance this is going to be one that's

very easy to get behind even on its maximum magnification 27 X getting

behind this scope is incredibly easy as you might expect from a scope of the

price tag of 950 bucks this does have side focus and like everything else on

this scope this dial just feels wonderful it's just perfectly smooth no

hitches everything on here seems to be very precisely machined and if we take a

look at the turrets right here I mean there are no chatter marks there's

everything is just nicely radiused everything is very very well built

the turrets that you see right here let's go ahead and start checking out

some of the features these are locking like the some of the the turrets that we

checked out before like on the engage you lift this up to unlock it and these

are actually graduated these will spin up and down based on how you've turned

these so you lift it up to turn and when you press it down it is locked now this

does have kind of the the three little screws that you turn to remove the cap

and be able to reset your zero and on the underside of this there is a zero

stop this is just like the one that you get on the elite tactical scopes

it's a plate that you unscrew drop down and then you you set your exact zero

once you have this cited in the windage knob as well is one of the locking

turrets so you can pull this to unlock it and then press back in to lock and

you can probably hear I'm gonna turn the microphone just a little bit so you can

hear a bit better but this is what the turrets sound like very tactile very

precise there's almost no float going on in here when I spin it up and it has a

nice loud click to it this is premium they've definitely gone to some some

lengths to make sure that this feels and sounds just right this is gonna be one

where you're not going to be accidentally drifting over your exact

spot that you need to hit on your turrets some of you guys like to spin

your turrets in the field some of you guys like to use the reticle depending

on this situation I'll use both but for a dynamic environment I want one of

these really complex reticles that allows me to deal with maybe a running

target so I can put lead on it I can do deal with windage right away I can deal

with drop and I can do it without having to actually touch the turrets at all so

if I'm dealing with targets at different distances I can very quickly jump from

one to the next without having to actually mess with anything on the scope

take my eye out of the scope anything like that

and this reticle is going to get the job done in a bit

way the horace h 59 is probably still my favorite reticle of all time and this

takes basically that same formula and just kind of tweaks it a little bit this

is going to be excellent out in the field i put together a video where i

showed how I use the Horus H59 to tag a running hog at 400 yards and it

was just kind of a pop-up target and this is gonna be one that's going to

work essentially the same way i am a big big fan and i can't wait to see how this

does out in the field the image through this scope is better than I can describe

it really seems to be every bit as good as through the elite tactical models and

I'm not exaggerating I'm looking forward to testing this side-by-side with those

this has no tunneling it has just a gigantic image easy to get behind you

get full resolution edge to edge color contrast resolution it is there in

spades and you're gonna be able to see lots of mirage through this I'm really

looking forward to testing putting it all together what is this scope designed

for this is a hard u scope this is one that you will take out in the field and

do some real work with if you are a hunter in the Rockies or out in the

plains where you need that extra magnification you need to be able to

take longer shots and be able to deal with win with moving targets and all of

that this is your scope this is going to do all kinds of great work for you and

that goes not just for the features but for how this is built as well

this is ipx7 waterproof it's supposed to be able to handle being three feet

underwater for about 30 minutes or so without anything getting on the inside

it's oring sealed and this has some really neat tricks on the lenses this is

called the EXO barrier its exterior lenses have a coating on them that I was

able to test out on the the Bushnell engage it's going to prevent anything

from really happening to the lens it's going to resist dust scratches smudges

sometimes some of the older scopes if you just got a fingerprint on there and

left it for too long it would kind of itch the scope it would it would stay

there forever but this repels basically everything from what I've heard you know

tree sap whatever it will not stick to these lenses

permanently and it won't damage it let's see what's in the box first off you do

get a scope cover this is kind of a padded sort of thick material so this

should help keep your scope a little extra safe during transportation you do

get this lens cleaning cloth the microfiber cloth with a little clip on

the end that's kind of nice you get this universal tool for adjusting not just

your your scope itself and some of the turrets and things on there but you can

actually use this to crank the torque back onto your scope rings this is gonna

be your standard scope ring nut size right there

pretty cool little thing right here okay so you get a Sun Shade very lightweight

and it screws on very nicely and then we have these Butler Creek style flip caps

right here so this has the the push button on the rear one and then you just

kind of push forward on the front I think these are made by Butler Creek and

they fit very tightly these aren't ones you have to worry about them falling off

in the field so what does this rifle scope actually give up when compared to

the elite tactical models like the HD mr2 well first off you do get the

smaller tube so you're gonna get less adjustment range 14 and a half

milliradians up-down left-right instead of the thirty that you're gonna be

getting with the HD mr2 and some of the lenses may have some different sizes in

here I don't know if that'll make an actual difference we're gonna see in the

field but some of the other things that you're gonna give up is going to be the

option of illuminated reticle and some of the more bizarre reticles like the h

59 now this is very similar to that so you're really not losing a lot but if

you did want the the trimmer 3 or the H 59 those reticles are not available in

here the elite tactical models do have that IDI prime glass which is going to

be higher density and it should lead to greater resolution as well now we're

taking a big step down in price but the quality is not dropping much at all this

is the Nitro and this model that you see right here the 3 to 12 FFP with the

deploy milliradian reticle this is actually selling on Midway right now for

about 375 bucks they have it on sale hopefully when you go they still have

that sale going on because that price is insane

for what you get on this this still has that 30 millimeter tube

this one has a 44 millimeter objective that's what most of them are going to

have in this line there is a 50 millimeter on the 6 to 24 I believe go

check out the stats and then back here the zoom ratio that you're gonna get on

this steps back a little bit from that 6x this is a 4x on all of these models

so this one is a 3 to 12 there's the 12x down to 3 this spins very neatly and

nicely and this really does continue all the awesomeness that we saw with the

forge where everything seems to be very well polished it just seems to be built

extremely well overall very well machined this feels like a very solid

scope even though it doesn't actually weigh all that much this is you know a

little bit more than some of the average hunting scopes but really not bad at all

especially for a 30 millimeter tube like the forge this does have side focus and

this feels every bit as smooth and you can see that this one will actually

parallax adjust to 10 yards so if you're looking for a scope that you can put on

a rimfire as well this might be an excellent choice some of the differences

that we're going to get into take a look at these turrets these are not exposed

target style turrets these are more slimline capped turrets these are this

whole scope overall is still ipx7 waterproof but this one is set up just a

little bit differently these are not graduated turrets so these are not ones

that you're probably going to be really spinning in the field especially when

you take a look at the reticle that we have in here you can spin these up these

do have a really neat zero reset if if you saw the the engage video that I did

a while back it had a special top right here on this turret all you have to do

is unscrew this cap right here and then you can just lift the turret up put it

back on its 0 once you get it zeroed and then lock it back down and this is good

to go but yeah you can spin this it doesn't

have any there kind of locks going on but the

clicks themselves are very palpable audible and this is going to work out

really well this is one quarter MOA this is an FFP model as well but this one

uses their MOA deploy reticle so this is a lot like that age 59 again and like

the the reticle that we saw in the Forge except that this one is going to be MOA

based instead and a lot of you guys may prefer that if you are you know someone

that has grown up in the Imperial system for a good long while if that's what you

use then this is going to be what you like best if you're used to measuring

things in inches this is going to be probably the best choice the nitro line

is quite large and you have lots of options to choose from if you prefer

milliradians versus MOA if you like SFP FFP you can pick what you want and

there's gonna be probably a rifle scope in there lots of different options much

like the forge you do get the EXO barrier on the exterior lenses that's

going to keep anything from sticking and then you do have the ultra wideband

coating on these lenses as well so whatever awesomeness in the image

that you got with the forge you're gonna get a lot of it right here and so far in

my testing resolution edge to edge is just phenomenal whatever resolution it

has in the center it does not give even right up to the very edge this is one

that's going to work very well in hunting situations especially where you

have maybe herd animals and you need to be able to make multiple shots and be

able to see things on the periphery this is going to get the job done when it

comes to reading wind as well and this is another one that I just can't wait to

see what it can do in the field the rifle that it's attached to is a Ruger

American and this has a Boyd's at one stock attached to it and it's in target

configuration right now make sure you check out the review that I've done on

the Boyd's at one because this stock is a great upgrade for a lot of you guys

that have some of these especially more budget and rifles now let's check out

the goodies that come in the box now first off it is going to show you the

the reticles that you can get here's the deploy SFP deploy MOA FFP deploy mil FFP

and then they do have a multi X as well if you want a traditional hunting style

reticle some of the other goodies that come in the box okay we have a sunshade

that's already attached on here this is just like that Forge one and we do get

the little lens cleaning cloth and then we have the Butler Creek style caps as

well so they are including a lot of value for money in here this scope costs

three hundred seventy five bucks on Midway right now you really need to go

buy it so what do you give up when you go from the forge down to the Nitro not

all that much you do get the 4x zoom ratio instead of the 6x and you do lose

the graduated turrets the kind of target style turrets and you get these kind of

low-profile covered ones instead and you do get a smaller objective but that's

about it we've reduced the tube diameter the objective size and the price

considerably and now we are looking at the Bushnell prime specifically this is

the one to four model 1 to 4 by 32 millimeter this little guy is still very

well built very well machined I think it uses a lot of the same parts that you're

going to see on some of the others like the way that these caps on here are

machined they still feel just wonderful but it's going to remove some of the

extra goodies that we got on the other ones in order to get down to this price

so like I mentioned this is a one inch tube this is a 32 millimeter objective

right here and then under these turret caps instead of the graduated turret

turrets that we had before or ones that we could you know kind of lock down and

all that this right here is a very simple MOA turret right here it still

has those wonderful solid palpable and audible clicks it still has all that

quality going through there it still has all the parts that feel really nice and

very well machined and yes you can actually remove this this screw right

here and then replace this if you want to set your zero but overall this is a

scope that you're not going to be playing with the turrets at all and

you're really not going to be adapting to much of the environment either as far

as the reticle goes this is kind of a lock and leave gun and it has a very

simple reticle this is the multi X which is going to be kind of your simple

crosshair reticle with a thicker posts on the outside so you can still use it

to make some measurements if you need to you can still use it for windage but

overall this is going to be a simpler device and it's going to be one that's

going to work very well in kind of traditional short range hunting this

right here as you can see is not a 223 ar-15 this is 458 SOCOM and so far my

buddy Cole that owns this rifle and he's been testing this scope out on top of it

he has just been thumping on this and yeah nothing is happening a lot of time

what you would see in the past with some of these second focal plane reticles

some of the less expensive hunting scopes the crosshair the reticle would

actually come out it's sitting right under here somewhere a lot of time it

would bump out either from the rear would recoil or from the sudden forward

recoil that you get from an ar-15 buffer slamming back home this little thing is

built to take a beating this is one that you're gonna be able to take out in the

field give it a lickin and it's still gonna keep ticking the mount that you

see here is a weaver one-inch SPR thumb nut mount it's actually very inexpensive

if you go out on Amazon I'll put a link to it down on the bottom this runs about

40 bucks I think right now a great little piece and this should hold it

very steadily if you want you can actually just turn down these thumb nuts

in order to attach it but since this is a 458 SOCOM now we're gonna torque this

down to 40 inch pounds to help this scope survive difficult outdoor work

this does have the XO barrier on all of its external lenses and I'm really happy

that they did that to have a $130 scope that can not only take a pounding and be

able to reliably track with the turrets up here but to also have

of such debris resistance and all kinds of weather resistance is awesome it's

also water resistant this has that same ipx7 waterproof rating so this is going

to be able to be dropped in water or taken out in rain and it shouldn't have

any difficulties overcoming those situations I mentioned that this is a 1

to 4x scope and you might think that this has a 4x zoom ratio and all these

models but that's not the case this one is kind of the oddball most of these are

going to be the standard 3x zoom ratio so you're gonna have your 3 to 9 6 to 18

4 to 12 those sorts of magnifications and then those reticles sitting back

here in the second focal plane are all going to be very simple but there are

some variances as you kind of step around within this range there is going

to be one model that has side focus that's going to be one of the higher end

ones there's going to be a higher magnification one that is going to save

you a little bit on price that has an adjustable objective out here instead

and then there are going to be some models that have larger objectives of

course there's gonna be a 3 to 9 by 40 that's kind of your standard hunting

size scope this one has a little 32 millimeter objective and then there

should be one that has a 50 millimeter objective as well aside from tube

diameter zoom ratio and some of the other features that we mentioned what

are some of the things that you might miss going for this instead of the forge

well probably one of the biggest ones that I've noticed is its resolution

overall this still does have a wonderful image for its price point I can't really

think of anything that compares to it it looks very good it has lots of contrast

lots of color reproduction it all looks excellent but it does kind of fall off

toward the edges so you do have a certain amount of resolution toward the

center of the image but then once you get about 80% of the way out you do

start to lose that at the edges some people won't notice they're going to be

concentrating more toward the inside but then if you do have you know maybe a

herd of pigs or you know something that we you need to be keeping watch on the

edges you might be losing a little bit of that prettiness overall I am floored

by the quality of the image in this scope especially when you consider its

price point going over to Bushnell comm and check out their catalog it is huge

and it seems to be growing by the day these three models that we've taken a

look at here today this is only just scratching the surface no matter what

kind of work you plan to be doing Bushnell is probably going to have a

model that's going to meet your need and you can probably pick from those price

tiers as well thanks a bunch to patrons of the destructive arts for continuing

Contemporary-a-thon TBR | Round 4 [CC] - Duration: 6:27.

Hi, YouTube, it's Kathy, and this is my TBR for the Contemporary-a-thon, Round 4.

I adore this readathon, which is hosted by Chelsea from Chelseadolling Reads, Julie from

Pages and Pens, Natasha from myreadingisodd, and now, also, Mel from Meltotheany, which

I'm very excited about. As per usual, there are seven prompts and

you can double up as you see fit, and, uh, for the first one, I actually need a little

bit of help deciding which one to read first. The first prompt is your most recently acquired

book and like most of us, I got some over the holidays, and I've just, kind of, lumped

them all together into one, big pot of most recently acquired. So, it's weird, because

I feel like for this one I have some options even though it should just be one book, and

those options include all of these books by Taylor Jenkins Reid, because I got them all

for Christmas from my Mom. I don't know which one I'm going to read, however. I'm thinking

about reading Forever, Interrupted because it was published first, but then I also have

After I Do, Maybe in Another Life, and One True Loves. If you think I should definitely

start reading a different book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, that is not The Seven Husbands of Evelyn

Hugo, which was my favourite book of last year, please let me know which one I should

read first. I also have a few additional options for this

prompt, some of which will come up a little bit later in this TBR.

The next prompt is blurple on the cover - blue, purple, or a bluish-purple, and for this one

I've decided I'm going to go with Blue is the Warmest Color. This is a graphic novel

that is done mostly in black and white, but then a little bit of bluish tones to it. Apparently

is now also a major motion picture. Oh, there is more colour in here, as well. Did not know.

I don't know a lot about this besides I think it might be queer, and I think Chelsea might

have talked about it at some point, but I saw this in a free pile the other day and

went "this is mine now". Third prompt is a diverse book, keeping in

mind that in America it is Black History Month, and I was already going to read The Wedding

Date by Jasmine Guillory anyway. Funny story about this: I was actually supposed to read

this book for the last round of the Contemporary-a-thon, but because my flights home were delayed from

BookNet Fest I actually missed picking up the hold and had to read something else to

fulfill whatever that prompt was, so bringing it back around. I was already going to read

it for VaLITines, and now I can just smush it right into this prompt.

The fourth prompt is a dark or emotional read, and for this one I think it's finally time

to pick up The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager. I've had this sitting on my shelf for ages

now. This is actually an ARC I got through work about a month before it came out, and

I just never got around to it. I was also going to get around to it in January because

of the Buzz Word Readathon, and I - I just couldn't fit it in to my reading, even though

it would have fit perfectly with Read Yo' Shelves, because I already had it. I was just

reading other things that week and just couldn't get around to it.

All I know is this is going to be a thriller of some persuasion. Literally, the first line

on the blurb says "Two truths and a lie" and that's all I really need to know.

I'm fully aware that sometimes my TBRs are a little bit infuriating because I like to

go into my books not knowing all too much, so I'm mostly like "here's a book; it first

the prompt." But you know what? It does.

The next book is a contemporary you meant to read in 2018, and again, after reading

Evelyn Hugo, I wanted to read everything by Taylor Jenkins Reid, so whichever of these

I end up reading based on your recommendations in the comments below will fulfill this prompt.

Not to mention, it could also be filled by this one.

Number six is reading in a different format, so if you usually read physical books, it'd

be reading a digital book, or an e-audiobook, or you can use a graphic novel, and for this

one, again, because I was already going to read it in February, I've decided I'm going

to use Fence Volume One, and possibly also Volume Two if my library gets their act together

and I'm able to get them out of the library around the same time.

This is one of those cases where I asked my library to acquire it because they didn't

have it, and they did, so they're now in the system. I'm pretty sure that the first one

has already been catalogued, so it's ready to be taken out, and I'm at the top of the

holds list, so I should get it pretty quickly, as soon as I take the suspend off my hold,

because if you haven't seen me talk about it before, managing the holds at my library

is kind of a part time job that I get paid nothing to do, but enjoy.

And the seventh and final challenge is a book with a picture on the spine. I originally

thought I was going to have a lot of challenge trying to figure out a book for this because

I usually get all of my books for Contemporary-a-thon from the library and I rigidly figure out

exactly how to get them out for the week I need them, but instead I just, kind of, looked

around my apartment and found something that fit the bill.

I have a couple of options for this. The first one being a book that could also be under

the most recently acquired because I got it around the same time as everything else that

I got recently, and that is Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley. I got this from my friend

Brandy, because she's very nice and went onto my wish list and sent me a couple of books,

and this book was on my wish list because as some of you might know, I'm obsessed with

Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley. It's about grief, it's about loss, it's about love, it's

a bookish book, so it's right up my alley. But I've never read anything else by Cath

Crowley, so I had this one my list because I should probably read some of her other books.

Now, the spine of this book has basically just taken this title section, and put it

onto the spine, so that's what it looks like. So that is definitely an option because I

do really want to get to these books and see if I like Cath Crowley's other work.

And just before I sat down to film this video, I actually saw another book that also fits

for most recently acquired because I got it around the Christmas time, as well as it fits

for the spine challenge, and that is In Other Lands. Now, this would be a reread, because

this was my favourite book of December and that's why my Mom got it for me for Christmas,

but... this one has a sword on the spine, so that would count as well.

So, we'll see how it's going. If I'm feeling like it's finally time to do my reread of

this - and I say finally like I didn't just read it last month - then I will do a reread

of In Other Lands, which I'm really excited to do at some point this year. It's going

to be the first book I reread this year, but I just haven't decided when.

And there you have it! Those are the books I want to read during Contemporary-a-thon.

Are you also taking part in Contemporary-a-thon? Let me know about it down in the comments

below. On the way down to the comments, if you hit that Subscribe button, that would

be very nice of you. You can like and share this as you see fit,

and I will see you very soon. Bye!
