hi everyone its Alice the fabric ninja I'm gonna make a set of straight pads on
camera so you can see the whole process okay I cheated I cut them out first but
they're just rectangles it's not exactly a lot of work but nobody needed to see
me sit there and cut rectangles so I already have them cut this is going to
be for the new tula explore these suck pads are a little bit smaller than
standard and they're not quite small enough to be narrow
hmm I'm gonna call them Tula Explorer perfect fit suck pads because they're
definitely and in between size but when you buy the big pattern or the hood
pattern you'll get the suck pads with it we no need to worry about changing the
size of the pattern you have you're gonna get the right pattern don't worry
and if you don't have a Tula Explorer I have suck pad patterns for every single
carrier out there that you can imagine really there are wide suck pads for a
Kinderpack and then there is standard for Tula, Lillebaby,
Ergo, MJ ,most of them are going to be standard and then the narrow ones for
Ergo 360 or Ergo Omni 360 and Eddie Bauer and now there's gonna be an
in-between size with these Tula explore a perfect fit. nNow if you have a lenny
lamb i haven't mentioned that so you can use the standard size suck pads and just
move the snaps out so they're a quarter of an inch from the edge instead of a
half an inch from the edge and that makes them the perfect size for lenny
lamb and i'll make sure to leave all of that information in the comments below
but let's get sewing I have said I have all of my pieces already cut out so let
me share
I have one of that two of that. And now I have one zorb and two zorb and then
I have my other side which is Dory and then the last one
no I've dropped it about it last one the other side of Dory so I'm gonna turn you
around so you can actually see my work surface and all the pieces Oh
just real quick let's talk about the work I love Zorb. So Zorb is made by
the company Wazoodle. I know it's kind of a crazy name but W-A-Z-O-O-D-L-E
Wazoodle. and this fiber is super super absorbent. it absorbs ten times its
weight in the water you can get away with one or two layers of this in a
cloth diaper for a kiddo. and it wow it's so much you can also use it in a
feminine hygeine pads or bibs and I really really like it in pads and
bibs. Now if you ever have problems with it absorbing enough just run it through
your washing machine it probably hasn't been activated enough if you just got
them or have just started using your accessories or you have some fabric
softener in your washing machine and it got a little coated so just one through
the washing machine again without any fabric softener and their observance you
should really just pick back up so let's get started. So fair warning my children
are home they are playing video games with their dad and my sewing machine is
currently right next to a sump-pump and it's very wet outside. So if you hear
sounds like it's raining or all of a sudden a loud slurping noise that's my
Sump-Pump, Sorry.
okay let's get this laid out so we
that and that. Now these are gonna go right sides together
and I'll do a little bit better job of lining them up before I actually sew
them okay I've got the layers down now let me take one and I'm gonna get it
really lined up well make sure everything edges are lined up. Now you
know I don't really sew with pins so I'm not gonna use anything. So I got it all
layered up and we're gonna give it a start now my machine has a built-in
walking foot that I've just engaged, but you don't have to have that. That's just
my sewing machine has and one of the reasons I love it
you also don't have to add a walking foot to your machine but if you don't
have a walking foot or something like this you are going to want to pin the
layers together because this amount of thickness and zorb everything is gonna
start to creep so that's the reason I can get away without pinion so I have a
straight stitch foot in here you can have a foot with a wider hole if
you want I just really love the way that it looks with a straight stitch foot and
then keeps anything from pulling back up through the hole my needle happens to be
a size 14 Universal I don't really like Universal needles but it certainly will
work for this project so I'm just gonna let it because I just put it in and I
have some lovely teal thread that's gonna work with both the top and the
bottom so I'm not going to have to change it when it comes to top stitching
let's do this
and you can see here that my zorb is kind of creeping out. I'm gonna try to
pull it back over so that I can get a really consistent seam allowance by
using my throat plate. Here silver parts go to the throat plate and that's what
has all the numbers on them. And it's a really normal for zorb and for cotton.
batting to just grow a little bit and it makes keeping the consistent seam
allowance are really hard. I sew off the end there and then I did this little trick
where I fold the edge before I start going the other way
this makes the points really crisp and you don't actually have to trim them
diagonally cut the corners to reduce bulk because it allows everything to lay flat
On this side you see my zorb has grown it's just kind of the way it works
I'll do my best to keep me consistent seam allowance by eyeballing that first
little bit
and I always put my opening on this last side. I got two labels here one for each
suck pad and you probably heard some stomping. I believe my son was just told
that it's a bath tonight I know so terrible everything was drama
with five-year-olds. I'm gonna sew up a little bit from the bottom. Needle down
just so nothing Wiggles on me. Slide my tag here
back stitch a little and now I'm going to create my hole that I'm going to turn
through so I did back stitching. And that was just me putting the needle out there
and I'm gonna scoot forward make another little thing now let me finish up my
seam now. Here at the end you can choose to flip this inward to try to get this
last corner with that flip it doesn't always happen
I don't worry about it flipping a 4th corner it's definitely better than
clipping 3 so here we go the first one let's throw that up there ready to do
the next zorb first layer I am sorry if this is out of the camera screen but
it'll be back soon I swear and the last layer making sure everything is very
well ok check that one make sure nothing creeped. So when you're sewing with
something this thick, and if you're sewing with something this thick and all
of a sudden you realize that there's a ton of loops on the bottom. Probably what
happened is you forgot to put down your presser foot. Mine goes pretty far
so it's easier some machines don't go up very far and
when you have all of this loft under here it's hard to notice when you have
forgotten to go down the presser foot that also happens with me with my
ruffler foot I am constantly forgetting to put it
down and it does not work if the presser foot is down it's up that is and what
happens is when the presser foot goes down all the tension discs in your
sewing machine clamp around the back so if the foot is I'm sorry if the presser
foot is up or the bar is lifted there there's no tension on your thread and so
nothing is activated so it's just it's not going to work
Strictly speaking I don't have to back stitch if I'm going to cross the stitches
But it's a really good habit to make sure you do because when you actually the
back stitch you'll be glad it's there
and you would hate to forget about when we actually need one. So again
I'm on my last side here I'm going to tuck that down and I like putting my
tag at the bottom so I'm going to go a little way, then skip
that's going to be my turing hole. Put my needle down
Raise everything up and I'm going slide my tag right in side here.
And if I can get this edge to turn up, fo for it, if not doing worry about it.
Awesome, The sewing part is, well the initial sewing part is done. We still have to do the top
stitching well let's get these turn the right side out let me make sure you can
see what I am doing what we're gonna do next is we're actually in a cut this
absorbent material the zorb out of the seam allowance so we're gonna cut around
here and it will remove all of this extra so that our suck pad is really
smooth along the edge and it doesn't have all this extra bulk this extra bulk
is also super hard to sew over because it creates this huge Ridge so please do
your best to cut this out I'm going to be using these super fancy applicators
they're made by Gingher I absolutely adore these scissors they do the best job of
this but regular scissors work just fine if you would like to know more about
these scissors there will be a link or information down below so you can learn
what they are but they are um I believe duckbill applique
scissors or Pelican bill something like that but let me show you how they work
so what happens is I can lay them flat so all the cutting action
is totally flat and I can get right right close to that stitch line either
at that angle or coming at it this way that seems to work better for this one
and if I want I can kind of pull that down to give myself a little bit more
reassurance that I'm not cutting the fabric that I want you can see that goes
super close to the seam line it is way easier to do this work with that than
this, See I'm needing to really hold this out of the way or see if I can get
down low in here totally works there's no reason you can't do it this way it's
just when I'm making a lot of these I like any little tool that can help me go
faster or gets me a better result so right here at the end you can see we we
have that folded bit that we did and I'm not gonna properly cut it off I'm just
gonna do this so I can get to the absorbent material that I'm trying to
get rid of
they do this all the way around and I'm going to incessantly talk because I
can't stand it being quiet on the video. oh you can hear my son yelling now
that's exciting they wonder if you got a bathtime reprieve doubtful. So while I'm
cutting around in a circle let me tell you a little bit more about me I mean
you've probably already heard my name is Alice and I currently live in Indiana in
a small town outside Indianapolis ok it's not that small I like to think it's
smaller than it is because I really like cute small towns but it works really
well for us when I met my husband he actually already had a house here and so
we ended up living here and I just I really liked the town so we started
looking for a bigger house we decided to stay and lucked out with a house that we
could afford and the schools here are just amazing so here we go here's one
I've cut all the way around no the second one so I live in Indiana now but
I'm not from Indiana I'm actually from Michigan a little town called Mason
which is on in the same vicinity of Michigan as the state capital I'm
required to do this as a Michigan person I live right here yes Michigan people
actually do that we tell you where we live by our hand and we do that to each
other actually so I'm from the town of Mason and I grew up on a farm where we
raised pumpkins and sheep and beef cattle so I love pumpkins pumpkin spice
season is a real thing for me and I love wool I love wearing wool making things
out of wool Oh Lisa's felting all that stuff is so much
fun and I just love how it feels so I have two kids they are five year old
twins a boy and a girl which makes them fraternal well I mean you can have boy a
boy for fraternal and girl girls for turtles fraternal but in case anyone
doesn't quite understand the genetics of that yes they are fraternal twins and
I'm sure somebody out there is gonna be like but but how do you find time to sew
with the twins um I mean it's hard let's be honest finding time to sew can be
really hard with or without kids with or without twins it's hard to find time but
it's what makes me so happy and helps relax me so it's important also because
they're starting to entertain each other I mean it's only for like three minutes
at a time and then somebody gets gravely injured but you know starting okay these
are now completely trimmed and we're ready to pop them right side out
so they go right in here this hole is maybe a little too small
but we're gonna deal with it anyway so I go all the way to the other side and I'm
gonna do these corners first then actually pull it all the way through
here and then I'm gonna go to the next corner and then doesn't mean basically
popping the corners to get really good square corners so you can't really see
what I did there it's harder to pop these last two corners because they're
right next to the hole but I always try either way and that
last one is not gonna happen okay so the easiest way to turn them and go
as far as you absolutely can and start from that corner and pull your way
through if you hear a couple of stitches pop I've told you already
he just hit my sewing machine that was great umm I made that hole too small it
should be about three inches and I think I made it about two inches yeah
definitely too small okay that one is turned and now we got to deal with the
corners
doing that fancy turning trick definitely helps but you've still got to
do the last bit I am using a seam ripper this seam ripper is dull but it's not
insanely dull I do have the risk of cutting my project
doing this but I really really like using a seam ripper to do this because
it fits my hand right and it accomplishes what I want done so please
use at your own risk a safer option
I just when I got a pencil bar a chopstick a safer option is to stick it
through the hole to the other end and slowly work out the point but it just
doesn't give me the results I want I want to be able to go in here and pull
that point that's what I want so hang over here I can go in between
and pull and pull see what I just did there that could have been bad but it
wasn't that was just a little piece of thread on that turn and I can easily
take care of I assure you I have put holes in suck dad's doing this I just
love the results so much that it's worth it to me because I love getting those
wonderfully crisp corners here we go next corner by the way if you don't like
crips square corners on your sock pads that's okay I've seen patterns out there
that actually are rounded around the corners and they look beautiful sewing
is about what you want something to look like about your vision nothing else so
if your vision has perfectly square corners go for it if your revision has
rounded corners go for it make it fit what you want it to look like not what
anyone else wants it to look like
I feel this way about fashion - obviously you want to look the way you
want to look you don't need to look like anyone else except yourself
okay now this one is trying to the corners are all nice and neat and now I
have one more to turn
yeah I almost lost a hole for a minute there okay I'm gonna go back to this
corner here but because I can see that I left a little too much fluff on there
and that was gonna cause me some problems which is what I think was going
on with the other one is that they didn't spend enough time deep luffing in
my corners cuz that's totally a technical term right d fluffing there we
go that's better okay let's go in same process again all the way to the other
end this one here you know it was turn the one way I'm gonna turn it the other
way and then I'm gonna pop it through get all those pieces to lay right
another corner if you don't want to do this holding popping thing just cut your
corners diagonally to reduce bulk it's okay
someday you may find that this is the right technique for you to do something
with or you may decide that you just really hate this technique that's fine
everyone does things different ways and all I can do is show you mine.
ok let's get this turned
sorry about that it was too hard to do out in front of myself I need to hold it
closer pull these corners out the best that I can here excellent okay now I
just got to do those corners these are looking more smooth than the other one I
bet you if I did not De-fluff the other corners enough before I turned it so
what I could have done what the other one has actually turned it right back
inside out and fussed with the corners more before flipping it again I could
have also just decided that I was okay with more rounded corners but that's not
my nature. yeah these are turning so much easier
okay there we go now I need to iron them and ironed them
as literally just like put them under the iron then get them smooth they're
already really almost holding their own press I guess I could get away with not
pressing them but I wouldn't want to teach you bad habits but I'm not gonna
show you me pressing them because I'm literally just pressing them okay maybe
I will let's see if I can do this now you get
to see the horrific mess on the way to the ironing board that was awful
my children have taken up playing in my sewing area while I work
and has led to some very interesting things in my playroom
there was a castle and some Disney Princesses and a penguin but I found by
my foot today that was super exciting okay so I'm done
the basic press but now we need to deal with the opening let me see if I can get
this to hold still
okay so what I do with my opening is I push the edges together as best I can
basically where the seam was and then I press it next I decide if I want to put
a pin in that or I want to use a little bit of fusible to hold it still so this
is what I like using it comes off in this tape and I cut myself a chunk
that's the size of a hole I lay it inside there which this piece is too big
I'm gonna lay it inside there and then I'm actually gonna put my arm in the way
so you can't see anything that's exciting I'm gonna put the nose of my
iron right inside there to press it and then I'm going to peel off the paper and
leave the adhesive down which only worked about partially let me see if I
can get you a better angle and do that again
okay so we're gonna cut the piece
I'm gonna lay it inside where it needs to go and then we're gonna touch it with
iron I'm gonna wait for a moment this time so it's not quite so hot it's
probably what the problem was and then I'm gonna peel off the paper yeah that's
much better okay I'm gonna peel off the paper
leaving the adhesive right here so this is sticky now and then I'm gonna stick
the two sides together and do one more hit of the iron awesome so now it is
right here but it's not moving and it's not coming open so when I top stitch
along here I don't have to think about it it's done get the other one going
okay
okay now we take the opening and lay everything that's super flat
got an extra thread here
everything's laid flat now I'm gonna press everything is aligned the way I
want it now I grabbed a piece of tape here
cut it again this easy steam to buy Pellon
I got this package like four years ago it's just an amazing quantity of it and
they're especially if all you're doing is this now if you're using it to maybe
hem a whole skirt you would go through it a lot quicker but I'm really just
using it to close turning holes so they don't have to think about them while I'm
sewing I'm gonna place that right in there I tried to get it pretty close to
the edge but the end it doesn't really matter so good inside I'm gonna wait for
it to cool this time okay it really doesn't take long to cool off pull it
off and again you can't really see it's a little shining right here but this is
all sticky so I will align everything back up repositioning if needed because
it it's sticky and then hit it one last time there we go
suck pad suck bad if you really really hate top stitching you could technically
just leave it like this and then put your stamp snaps but I don't trust this
stuff I don't trust any of that iron only you don't need to sell things they
worked for a little while and that it ends up failure you just I don't trust
them enough to not top stitch so let's go do that so I'm gonna use a weird foot
that's because I like it you can just use this foot but everyone
likes you know gadgets and tools so let me show you one of mine this is a piping
foot it is clear so it's incredibly hard for you to see anything about this foot
but one side of the front is higher and one side is lower and you absolutely
cannot see that but it's designed to sew piping so you know piping is a tube
and so it's designed to have the tube here and it sit down and be able to run
across it nonetheless it sits right on the edge of a suck pad like beautifully
and runs the edge like literally you can't screw up because it's stuck on the
edge like it just it runs so well so I use this so I have to think less about
this way to pop that on I cannot use my built-in walking but with this flip
though so it is a trade off I'm going to bump my stitch up to 3.0 I just like how
top stitching is a little bit bigger and then I'm gonna move my needle over to
three because I've done this so many times I know that's just where I want it
I start right by my label because I know that's gonna be in the back and I just
do a quick check to make every shirt everything is lined up I'm gonna secure
it in my machine I have a button that does a couple of stitches forward and
backwards you can do a little back stitch if you want or you cannot because
you're just going around in a circle you're getting back to the same spot and
you're gonna tie it off by sewing over the top of it so if your machines back
stitch is a little bit messy it's just some machines have a messy back stitch
don't do it to start with trying to eliminate the amount of mess
I'm gonna go down here when I get to those corners I'm gonna cut estimate
where I'm going check it out it wasn't far enough so you take another
stitch turn yeah that's good enough for me
do a little wiggle make sure everything is lined up oh yeah you can see I'm
starting to get a little bit of fabric built up under here that's because they
don't have my walking foot it's kind of thick so what I can do is just lift up
the foot and release the tension that's going on there so everything stays
straight did I go too far no I didn't I learn
so again I have a little bit of fabric builds up there I'm just going to scooch
it to the back and come around here to my front at this point I normally end up
chopping my threads off because I'm gonna be coming back to them in a moment
a little thread disaster going on over here
and then back to the beginning I'm gonna do another tie off and a little bit
farther than a minute you a second time I just really like things being super
amazingly secure what there we go you may have noticed I just flipped on
the front and it clipped on the back that happened because I was pulling and
my top thread was actually pulling the bobbin thread up to the top just
randomly happens sometimes but you can do that on purpose if you want to you
can pull your top thread and have the bobbin thread pull up through here we go
the front or the back whichever one you want to pretend is which and here is the
other side okay last part again I'm gonna start near my tied this is just a
habit that I have I find it's really nice to have habits when you sew because
it takes some of the decision-making out of it you know you always do things one
way and then you don't have to ask yourself which way you did it because
you know you always did it that one way so I'm building up some fabric there
push it back... hold on... Hey Jasper want to say hi? Can you say I say hi. "Hi"
my son just decided to join me and give me a hug. "Dad Scored and were were a team" (giggles)
I get head upstairs son mm-hmm "no good kisses"
okay let's get back to this we're
almost done yeah, (to Jasper: are you going are you gonna be super quiet) "Yes" okay.
okay at the end of this done okay so I have extra fabric there push
it to the end "There's a sewing video" There's a sewing video game?
" A mini game in Mario" There is a sewing video game in Mario
That's awesome "Yeah you're like, I'm crazy, and the computer turned me around like crazy"
oh my gosh. "and it was going I was going" okay so I'm getting back to the
beginning here I'm going to trim my little bit and I'm gonna overlap this
stitch and I take a few more stitches and double stitch if you have problems
turning corners and getting over these humps, let me show you a little trick so
this what I'm using kind of eliminates that problem but I'm gonna switch feet
real quick so you can see what happened for some times so right here let's say I
was sewing along here so I've stopped to may needle this down I turn the corner
and the back of my foot has gone downhill then the top front of my foot
is uphill and this is gonna make it really hard to start your stitch your
machines don't like it machines like their presser foot to be level so one
you can put your finger on the front of it but that hurts a little bit sometimes
especially if something is super thick like you're sewing delue jeans this is
the perfect example of this what you can do is take something else I'm gonna use
the other sock pad in this case drop it in the back machine and then your
presser foot is level again I just popped right out a bad example okay
there we go so it's level again the presser foot is level and now it's going
to so easily you can do this with a piece of cardboard or fold a fabric
ever works best for you but it's if you're sewing machines foot is level and
we'll be able to deal with these humps very easily there we go these are ready
for snaps
so I took a quick break to talk to my son about his video game and
well he talked to me I decided to pick out some snap colors I am using
KamSnaps and I keep mine in this box okay I have like 15 of these boxes but
nonetheless they're all in these boxes and I use the exact same box I get these
at Michael's and so it's easy to see the colors they're a little bit muted
through the box but it's good enough for me and instead of storing like all the
greens together all the Blues together I store them with colors that show up in
fabrics together that it's kind of a vague sorting system
but it really works for me because these two fabrics here I'm somehow able to
actually use the same box so like here's the blue if I was trying to match that
here's that like darn close to that this teal is in both of these if I pulled out
one more box it would probably have a green that works for this or a yellow
because they're kind of in color families that all work together I know
it's not perfect though this hot pink really belongs in a different box but
this Pink is I mean you've got these little splashes of pink here no it's a
sorting method that works sometimes and sometimes don't so when I cut these out
I should have actually marked her all my snaps wet but I didn't and quite frankly
I forget pretty nearly every time so let's figure out where there
oh let's let's count out the snaps first so I am going to use the teal and I'm
gonna use this so each each side so I'm gonna need three caps on one of these
sides and then it will need three studs on the other side but the other side is
actually over here and what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna keep the color on the right
color side so let me explain because I think I just confused myself saying that
so let's try again so we're gonna have three studs here and then we need three
snaps over here same on this one so they're three studs I'm sorry three caps
Wow what am I saying three caps and then I'm going to again
do three sockets and I'm laying them out on the suck path so you can try to
understand so now the other side of this so there's three caps it's also going to
need three studs and this side that has three sockets is going to need three
caps so what I do is keep the side that I'm using one color on you'll always see
that color so when you're looking at jasmine you're gonna always see this
purple and when you're looking at Nemo you're always going to see or not see as
the case may be for blending in the the teal so we get there and then I'm going
to need three of those studs
okay close it you have to remember to close the boxes so here we go we have
all we need for all the sides and now I'm going to push it all away and then
get confused while I do it I have yet to truly find a method that makes sure that
I don't screw up but I do decently well so this is a snap
press from cam snap you can absolutely use ham Pierce my hands hurt after I do
these for a while so I tend to just use my enormous press but if you're only
doing a para to just use the handle tires they work really well so I am
gonna start here and my snaps go a half an inch from this edge and a half an
inch from that edge which is right here and I know that because I've I balled it
so many times because I constantly forget to actually measure it but we
have you know a measuring chart right here in front of me so I can see it's a
half an inch and a half an inch I got it right and you're gonna do that the other
corner as well happen and should happen inches right there and I don't do this
to the center I'm gonna mark that by folding do this so I don't try to
eyeball the center I just fold it I put that in and then I always flatten it out
again before I actually press this all the way through it I could see my mark
but if I don't flatten it out again holes end up in weird spots so the first
round I'm gonna put in the studs and
that is for a particular reason because when I fold it I can actually imprint
the stud mark on to the other side
but I think I have made it so I'm not gonna be able to do that so we'll just
do this anyway give me a moment let me see if I can figure out a way to make
this work I need to reverse my colors actually to make that work with here
because I want this to be these the caps that match it so that when you fold them
it looks nice so let me try again see and everyone
screws up sometimes it's not a big deal okay yeah these need to be okay let's
try this again here we go we have our hole I'm gonna put a cap here then on
the other side I'm going to put a socket I'm sorry a stud a stud the side that
pokes out now I can't actually stick it on there because there's one already in
my machine and I can't get it out of there without actually pressing it so
here we go and it's the wrong filler but oh well it doesn't show anyway I don't
even know why I make such a big deal about having the colors where they are
because they're on the inside of the suck pad nobody ever sees that but it's
something I like it's those little things that you do for yourself that you
see and know the oats ease I just adore making the colors match like that some
of the last one here in the center
now I could certainly take off that one snap that is different and if I was
selling this pair I totally would because I'm just that sort of person but
because this is my tester that I will probably keep in stock for always for
when people ask questions about it or I need to see if this will fit something
else I think that's gonna have it for me maybe some of my friends will use it so
you can see that the so it's a purple stud and then you can see that little
circle of the other colors showing through so I'm gonna do the studs on the
other one now and then I will change the dye let's come over here and do the same
thing half an inch half an inch either market verify it if you want I had a
couple of months where I was putting them too close to the edge my idea of
what a half an inch changed seems kind of weird but I had to start measuring
them for a while again to make sure I was doing it right so there's that I
don't know if it's flat to make sure it goes through at the right angle go this
isn't all by the way I don't think I said that they come in many different
sizes this one has a small taper here and it's the same thickness I have some
that grow to be like really wide you want to be using an awl and not cutting
a hole because it will make your it will make your snaps stronger now if you're
cutting in literally like the tiniest little hole for example if you're using
the SVG file that cuts a tiny hole to mark this on your fabric it's so so tiny
it's not gonna cause trouble but people who cut out a big chunk in the center
that gives your snap less to grab on to and in the end will make everything just
not as sturdy you'll have a better chance of your staff
rolling out or your fabric rambling so if at all possible use it all or use the
SVG file that cuts a hole that's like two millimeters super super tiny so
another way that I can check the placement of my snap is that I know that
this is a quarter of an inch from the edge okay it doesn't look like a full
quarter of an inch but there's this there's this thing called the fold of
the fabric so actually from my seam line to this it's actually a quarter of an
inch but that that fabric goes into the edge and then I know that this snap is a
half an inch wide which means the center is at a quarter of an inch so if this
snapped when it's in just touches my stitching line I know that it's a half
an inch from the fort you can see here and there it is a little bit far I think
we'll live because these will stretch a little bit they're fabric and your
carrier is a little bit squishy so if yours are not exactly half an inch again
don't fret about it they're gonna work they're gonna be close enough okay I
have all the studs in and now we're gonna do the sockets I have to change
the die so you like this there's a center here that when you push it
plunges but I can't do it by hand this is really super hard to move and then I
switch it up for the socket die your hand players may not have a different
die some of them use the same die to do both sides and that is totally cool
don't worry about it so to mark the other side what I knew is I fold it line
the edge and then all the spots that have the sockets on them I press
and then I open it up really quick and I see where it pressed I could see one
there and I mark it and then I do it again I line at the edge real well I
press it down let's see what the circle was and I mark it you can of course just
eyeball that half an inch again or use the markings that you should have marked
to begin with but if you didn't this works really well and then you know that
those snaps are exactly lined up so that when this snaps here that that top and
bottom edge are going to be perfectly lined because you just marked where it
was going with the snaps that are already there so let's put these in so
this sign had the stud so now on this side has a cap so see when they are
folded they work together and it means that the cap on this side which gets
seen when it's closed is going to be the purple that matches the lotus flower and
I'm going to stick one of a teal sockets
I'm gonna see the little bit of a purple through the center
so I had no idea how long this video is at this point and certainly it would
have been less long if I wasn't having so much but although you can see that
suck Pads do not take long to me
okay I always like just doing a quick test I want to make sure I hear that
snapping sound snap and the one in the center snap so I know that they're all
pressed down and they're gonna stay and this one I have it so Dori shows up
right on the front now let's do the last one again we fold it in half and make
sure those edges are aligned but press down real hard and then I go and I look
for the spot there it is certainly not something that's gonna show up on camera
okay go to the other end press
press the center. I did not see that let's try again
there we go you press down on a table sometimes you get a better registration
mark let's get these last few steps in so the sockets are up here so the cap is
gonna go on this side the studs are up what am i singing I keep getting this
all messed up when I'm talking so a stud it's the pokey outside that is this
business end or the side that doesn't work that sticks upward it's called the
stud you can also refer to it as the male side and the socket is the part
that goes inward or the female side woops I was about to stick the wrong
color on there
and the top of it that has a long pokey part that is called the cap
yeah hold it together make sure I get all those snaps snap snap snap oh that's
cute I have an emo are you suck pants for your baby carrier and I'll make sure
to stick a picture at the end of these on the Tula explorer make sure to look
for the pattern coming up soon and if you have a different baby carrier I have
