Waching daily Jan 3 2019

- Hey, everybody, how are you?

Jeff Gellman of Solid K9 Training

with my What Would Jeff Do? dog training tip of the day,

tip number 188.

This is what's happening.

You're inside your home

or you're in a quiet area,

and your dog is listening to your obedience commands,

sit, down, place,

even some recalls, focusing more on you,

and you're loving it, and then you go outside

and your dog is exhibiting some leash reactivity

or pulling on the leash,

and you don't understand why.

This is it.

Your dog is listening to you inside

historically 'cause there's something in it for your dog.

You're probably using some food

or some toy, or some physical touch

so your dog's like yeah, I'll sit for that.

Yeah, I'll down for that.

You go outside now, why the heck is my dog

pulling on the leash?

I don't understand it.

Why is my dog being leash reactive?

I don't understand it.

Well,

did you ever think that your dog actually loves doing it?

So there's something in it for the dog.

Your dog is sort of self-rewarding if you want to call that

for pulling on the leash.

It loves to pull on the leash.

A lot of people think it's fear, it's a fear response,

but what happens is your dog actually is being rewarded

and it enjoys pulling on the leash.

How do you stop it?

You make it suck to pull on the leash

and you make it really cool to not pull on the leash.

Even if you didn't make it really cool

and good to not pull on the leash,

making it suck to pull on the leash,

that also is gonna help, so that's usually step one.

Stop that unwanted behavior, and then

get some good stuff out of your dog.

But first we gotta stop it.

A lot of people, they're like well, if I make it good

to not pull, if I try to use the good stuff

to stop the pulling, the dog will stop.

Unfortunately, as much as your dog loves that food,

that kibble, that high value reward,

unfortunately, that pulling stuff,

that lunging stuff, that barking stuff,

that reactive stuff that your dog is doing,

it likes that a lot better.

So dogs historically do what they like

and don't do what they don't like.

So you gotta make that pulling, that lunging,

that barking, not so fun for the dog.

That's where properly applied punishers come in.

- Hello.

- Anything else you want to say before I turn this off?

You're done?

One and done, hello.

That's all we get out of you is one word?

I don't know if I've ever heard one word out of you before.

Anybody that knows Angelo, same thing.

Love you guys, bye.

What Is the Cost of Medicare for All? - Duration: 1:40.

Have you ever waited in line for hours at the state-run DMV?

Or wanted to pull your hair out at the government-operated Post Office?

Well if some members of Congress have it their way, government red tape and lackluster customer

service would also extend to health care.

Government run health care has recently been repackaged as Medicare for All and is a big

move away from free market competition.

As a result, the quality of service will likely drop and taxes will skyrocket.

Many medical professionals have also indicated they won't participate in a government-run

health care system—so you may not be able to keep your existing doctor.

In practice, this could mean waiting hours for much needed medical care or up to a year

for surgery—a major problem for time sensitive procedures.

The price tag of Medicare for All is also jaw-dropping.

Instituting the program is estimated to cost over $3 trillion per year.

That's more than the U.S. government spent on the military, healthcare, social security

and other entitlement benefits combined in 2015.

Inevitably, that additional financial burden would fall onto the American taxpayer—slowing

economic growth and stifling business expansion.

Medicare for All may sound good in a campaign stump speech, but putting the idea into practice

is risky and comes down to one question: How do we pay for it?
