His wife, Alice, explained for the magazine that her husband did a lot of research prior to the surgeries.

She said he was also adamant that he would not miss a moment of the upcoming football season.

The piece quoted Alice as saying, "Before he was allowed to drive [after the surgery], he had my father driving him down to Hopkins because he just didn't want to be away from things.".

According to the school's website, he amassed a record of 209-87-3 in 28 seasons.

The team went 12-2 in the 2018 season, bringing Margraff's total wins to 221 in 29 seasons.

He also did not berate or yell at players.

Magraff explained for the article, "I've just found that I'm more effective and people learn more when I talk to them and teach them.".

How to Beat Jet Lag || Thrillist Travel Guide - Duration: 3:23.

- There's a reason you feel so sleepy

on your international trips.

And no, it has nothing to do with

how annoying it is to travel with your partner.

Sorry, they suck.

Hello internet, I'm Wil Fulton,

and this is "Thrillist Travel Guide,"

where we not only tell you about the best places

to visit around the world,

we try to make you a better traveler.

For example, if you use your iPad to take pictures

in crowded public spaces,

you're gonna look stupid.

Even with a filter applied.

Boy howdy, the Eiffel Tower sure is prettier in person.

But let's put tablet faux pas aside for now,

and focus on my least favorite thing about traveling:

jet lag.

If you travel to another time zone,

you may find it a little difficult to adjust.

This will lead to feelings of grogginess, malaise,

fatigue, and, you know, wanting to take a nap

every day at noon.

- Move (beep)!

- It can even lead to gastrointestinal problems,

and affect your mood.

It's kind of a big deal, actually.

It can mess you up for days,

and even weeks after your trip ends.

- Are you awake?

- Yeah.

- So, is there really any way to nip jet lag

in its circadian rhythm-altering bud?

First up, let's look at some of the more out-there

methods that apparently work.

Some quote unquote wellness experts

believe that taking your shoes off

and walking around on a natural surface

like grass, or soil, or sand, will help

reset your circadian rhythm

and set your sleep cycle straight again.

I've actually tried this after a transatlantic flight

to London, and all I got were funny looks from strangers,

but to be fair it was their lawn.

Other experts say measured exposure to light,

fasting, or taking melatonin might be helpful

in diffusing your jet lag.

And I've tried all of these things to little success.

Honestly, in this traveler's opinion,

a little bit of planning might be all you really need.

First off, red-eye flights to different time zones

can really throw you off.

Unless you have one of those first class seats

that fold into a bed.

In that case, I hate you anyway, so it doesn't matter.

But for the rest of us,

when you can, avoid those late-night flights.

But really, the most important battle

to fight en route to jet-lag dominance

might be staying awake till it's bedtime

in your new time zone.

No matter what, you must stay conscious

in an effort to set your sleep cycle right again.

When I went to Thailand,

I stayed up for almost 30 hours straight,

and yes, I was a little tired in the process

and maybe zoned out touring a few wats,

but I went to bed at a new normal time,

and I experienced zero jet lag for the rest of my trip.

But I realize everyone is not as strong or as wired as me,

so if you must nap, sleep experts recommend

it be no longer than a quick 20- to 30-minute snooze,

lest you risk getting even more tired

than you were in the first place.

So, really, the only two ways to combat jet lag

are planning trips that won't (beep) with your sleep cycle,

and if you can't do that,

forcing yourself to stay awake till it's nighttime

in your new time zone.

And if you pass out for nine hours at 3pm the first day,

your entire trip might be ruined.

- We slept in!

- And why let sleeping ruin your trip

when there's plenty of tourists walking around

taking pictures on their iPads to do that for you.

Yo that Eiffel Tower sure is pretty in person.

That doesn't, no, that's not the same.

Meaning of ALONG THE WAY - A Really Short English Lesson with Subtitles - Duration: 0:54.

So "along the way" in English means "during a trip".

So let's say you and a friend are going on a trip and your friend says, "I'm hungry.

Let's eat before we leave."

You could respond by saying, "No.

Let's get something to eat along the way."

So that would mean that during your trip, at a certain point, you would stop and get

something to eat.

You can also use this to talk about life.

You could say, "You know, as I've grown older, I have learned a lot along the way."

Well that's your short English lesson for today.

Don't forget to watch this twice today and once tomorrow to help you as you continue

to learn English.

Have a great day!

Could our society survive without the state? | BBC Ideas - Duration: 2:42.

Could we survive without rulers? Without the state?

We have survived for centuries despite them and they're destructive wars and stifling oppression.

Crippling taxes suck half our wealth away sprinklings just a fraction back.

It has been done before. Archaeology shows some of our ancestors living in peace

for a few thousand years before armed rulers appear on the scene.

Not in caves, but in cities with tens of thousands enjoying civilisation we would recognise.

What would life be like without the state?

Less complicated, divisive and confusing for a start.

Poverty would be slashed with half our wealth back in circulation

and none wasted on wars and political schemes.

Enterprise and innovation flourish without the regulation that favours large corporations.

We do things voluntarily, never because we are threatened

with damage for non-compliance. It is a climate in which our cooperative and

charitable nature can flourish. When join up in a free system we find effective

ways to meet our community's needs. We develop systems in which cream rises to

the top, instead of scum. Online vendors value their reputations.

The states only vital function is protecting us from other versions of itself.

Everything else we could do ourselves. We could even develop a less

rigid justice system with no victimless offenses,

that benefits from a reduction in crime and fear.

We could deter, punish and protect with levels of digital exile tailored to the offense.

Jails are just so last century.

Civilisation developed through the connection and cooperationof people.

We are more connected now than at any time in human history.

We have the tools to develop structures that self-govern from the bottom up,

evolving as times change.

Could we survive a crash of the global banking system

and the nation states they underwrite?

We could survive and eventually thrive!

Humber College's Accommodations and the Essential Requirements - Duration: 3:03.

When an Accommodation Letter is received, we ask that faculty take the following steps:

Send an email to the student to acknowledge that you have received it.

Advise the student that they are welcome to connect with you at any time

to discuss the accommodations, if they wish to do so.

Carefully review the letter to determine if you have any questions about the accommodations listed.

Some accommodations may be straightforward

and create no concerns with respect to the essential requirements of your course.

However, in some instances you may identify an accommodation

that seems inappropriate given the course you are teaching.

When this occurs – or even if you're just not sure -

please contact us immediately. We're here to help.

The first thing we encourage faculty to think about

is which of the requirements for your course seem to be conflicting with the requested accommodation.

With that identified,

we can work together to explore whether or not that requirement is in fact considered essential.

There are three guiding questions that we'll ask you to consider

when we are trying to determine if a particular requirement or standard is essential.

1. Is there a rational connection to the requirement?

2. Is the requirement established in good faith?

3. What is the evidence for the necessity of the requirement?

For example, if performing CPR is a requirement of your course,

and the student has a disability that prevents them from performing CPR,

then an accommodation may not be possible.

1. Is there a rational connection to the requirement?

In our CPR example, the steps for CPR have been developed by medical professionals

who have determined these steps are necessary and have the best possible chance of keeping someone alive.

2. Is the requirement established in good faith?

The steps were developed to help individuals in a medical emergency,

which would indicate the decision was made in good faith.

In other words, it is presumed that there was no conscious effort to create a standard

that may not be achievable for everyone without a reasonable rationale for the each of the steps.

And 3. What is the evidence for the necessity of the requirement?

The evidence is that these steps can save lives:

without administering CPR, there is a greater risk of death when cardiac arrest happens

and this has been scientifically proven.

Therefore, there is no alternate method to assess this skill.

Reviewing how three questions apply to your particular course requirements

will help facilitate a more meaningful discussion with Accessible Learning Services.

This will not only be helpful for our conversation with you,

but in doing so you may find a unique solution to allow the student to participate and contribute to your course.

We look forward to collaborating with you.

Thank You!
