A jealous boyfriend is believed to have stabbed two people before starting a house fire which killed three people, including himself.
The jilted man allegedly shouted "no one else will have you" before killing his girlfriend, another man and himself in the New Year's Day inferno.
A 27-year-old woman, and two men, aged 32 and 24, all died in the "ferocious" blaze in Lincolnshire.
One of those who died in the devastating fire was named locally as Billy Hicks, 24.
It is believed he used to be "sweethearts" with a woman whose family owned the £350,000 home in Kirton, which exploded in flames on Tuesday around 3am.
He split from Jay Edmunds, 27, earlier this year. It is not known if she was the woman who perished in the fire.

Billy, who worked in a mobile phone shop, had previously been living with Jay at her former family home.
A source earlier told The Sun police are looking into whether this suspect was part of a love triangle with two other victims.
Police are said to believe the two victims may have been stabbed - and their chief suspect also died in the blaze, the Daily Mail reported.
It is believed Jay's parents had rented out their home as a houseshare after moving to Ilfracombe in Devon to open a hotel.
Locals claim a jerrycan of petrol was used to fuel the blaze at the detached house shared by several pals.

In January this year Billy paid tribute on Facebook to his dad who died and described his mum as the "worlds best".
He said: "It's been a s**t year, but we've all got through it eventually! I honestly couldn't of done anything without you or Joanne! I love you mum."
He used to work at a pub which was run by Jay Edmunds' parents, The Spirit of Endeavour in Boston.
Assistant manager Amrit Bola said: "It is very sad news and his family are devastated. I didn't know him personally because he left the pub before I joined a few months ago. He was well known locally.
"We don't know the circumstances of the fire but it is shocking and our thoughts go to the families who have lost loved ones. It's tragic."
Two young women, Natalie Hall and Rachel Braim, were said to be "lucky to be alive" after escaping the flames.

One had to be rescued from behind a locked front door and the other jumped for her life from her bedroom window.
Friends of Rachel, a Police Community Support Officer, set up a JustGiving page and said she was "obviously traumatised and has lost all personal possessions".

One pal said: "Rachel was able to get a housemate and eventually herself to safety. Despite her efforts, three died in the fire."
Police have now launched a "domestic-related" murder inquiry but said they are not looking for anyone in connection with the deaths.
Superintendent Di Coulson said: "There is one suspect and we believe that suspect died within the property."
She added: "The incident we believe is as a result of an issue with that relationship."
Survivor Natalie, 21, has made an appeal for help to find her missing cat.

She wrote on Facebook: "Hey guys if anyone sees this cat...(his name is Ralph)or has any information on him please contact me ASAP! Keep an eye out in Kirton please."
Natalie received minor leg injuries after escaping by jumping from her bedroom window.
She later wrote on Facebook: "I am fine, just a few minor injuries on my legs from where I jumped out of my bedroom window.
"I am very lucky to be alive which is more then I can say for my wonderful friends who were taken away that night. My condolences to their families."
She previously likened her close pals to the hit show Friends by writing next to a picture: "So no one told you life was gonna be this way?"

Just hours before the fire she posted a video saying "going out with a bang" as she got ready for New Year's Eve celebrations.
A grandad of six was called a "hero" by survivors' pals after his desperate attempts to save those trapped in a horror house fire.
Shaken, caterer Michael Wood, 52, said: "I had just got in from work and heard an explosion. I thought it was gas at first. It was crazy. The blast shook my house and I ran around there.
"I saw groups of people on the side of the road and the flames were coming out of the roof.
"I said to the group 'who's in there?' I just ran and nobody followed me and I was screaming at people to come.
"I saw the girl just inside the front door in her dressing gown and she was saying 'I'm locked in I can't get out. I can't find the key'.
"I smashed the window but couldn't reach the lock to see if I could open it for her.

"The fire had started on the left hand side of the house as that's where it really took hold.
"The girl was calm-ish even though she must have been terrified. I don't think she realised the full force of the fire above her. She was telling me 'there's three more young people in the house'.
"I was under the porch and there were slates falling on it. Bricks and tiles were just everywhere. People two doors down the road had stuff in their gardens.
"I then heard a crack and realised we had to get her out now. So I tried to smash the door down. I was ramming it with my shoulders but I couldn't budge it.
"In the end I got a piece of wood out and got rid of all the glass left in the side panel and another guy joined me after I shouted for help a second time. We then pulled her out."
Mr Wood then went round to a side window and shouted seven or eight times "is anybody there?' but there was no reply.
"I keep having moments when I think about the fire," he said.
"It's just horrendous for their families and friends."
