For centuries, fortifications and fortresses

served as the main form of protection for those on the defensive side,

and the main obstacle for attackers.

In the 20th century, these constructions became obsolete.

The final chord in this longstanding battle

was played by a huge and remarkable German mortar

named Karl-Gerät.

World's Strangest Combat Vehicles

So, why didn't Karl-Gerät, Adam, and other giant guns

serve the purpose they had been built for?

Mikhail Lapikov will tell us how the length of the barrel

affects the gun's ballistic range

and the devastating power of a 2-ton shell.

Self-propelled Karl-Gerät mortar

Construction of the Karl-Gerät started in 1935,

when the company Rheinmetall-Borsig

manufactured a super-heavy rifled mortar,

which was designed

to launch 4-ton projectiles over a 1 km (0.6 mile) distance.

Thus, the range of 2-ton projectiles

constituted about 3 km (1.9 miles).

The device was designed

to break through long-term defence lines,

including those of heavily reinforced forts.

The first mortar, named Adam, was produced in November,1940.

Previously, in January, a Heavy Battery 833 was created,

which included two batteries equipped with two guns each.

A small number of these devices were manufactured:

in total, seven devices were produced;

six of them saw combat.

In fact, Karl is not the official name of the device

—it was nicknamed after its designer and just happened to stick.

Thus, every mortar had its nickname:

the first two were called Adam and Eva.

The others were named after characters

from Scandinavian mythology, like Thor or Odin.

The first thing that catches the eye is the size of the mortar.

It's one of the largest

self-propelled artillery weapons by caliber.

Everything in it was unusual and unique,

which made it terrifyingly legendary:

a 540 mm (21.2 inches) and 600 mm (23.6 inches) gun,

projectiles weighing more than 2 tons...

Another remarkable fact was that the 600 mm (23.6 inches) barrel,

capable of launching huge projectiles,

was only 8.5 caliber-long.

The barrel was a solid unit, which had 112 grooves inside.

Together with a breech, it weighed over 28 tons.

Depending on its type,

a projectile weighing about 2 tons contained anywhere

from 280 to 348 kg (617 to 767 lbs) of explosives,

which can be compared to a sizeable air bomb.

And the impact points demonstrated

the corresponding damage caused by its shots:

10 meters-deep (33 feet) funnels

and a sand cloud reaching up to 170 meters (560 feet).

The self-propelled tracked chassis

was a distinguishing feature of Karl-Gerät.

It allowed the gun to move independently,

though its top speed was only 10 km/h (6.2 mph).

The front side contained a 580 hp engine.

To ensure its manoeuvrability, the mortar was placed

on a self-propelled carriage.

They even ensured the carriage was slightly armoured

to protect it against enemy fire.

But generally, Karl was transported by rail.

The mortar was placed on two platforms

and transported to its destination.

It was often almost completely disassembled

and then only reassembled at the front line.

Transporting Karl to a war zone was hardly a subtle task,

and the 16 crew members who operated the gun

were supplemented by people who protected

the mortar from the enemy.

The mortar was armoured mostly for the sake of reassurance.

This wonder-machine could be easily destroyed

by the World War II classical tank T-34.

It was suggested that while on the site,

the gun should be protected by Special Forces,

who otherwise did not play any part in battle.

One could say

that defense of the Karl mortar wasn't effective enough,

if compared to its effect in combat.

There was a need for AA gunners,

communication support, and defense,

depending on the presence of enemy forces.

So, you can bet that several hundred people

were engaged in the mortar's operation.

Using the mortar was rather demanding,

in terms of its operational conditions.

Karl's horizontal aiming was performed

by turning the mortar's mount only within a +/- 2.5 degree range.

If a wider aiming range was required,

they had to turn the whole chassis.

Vertical aiming was within a 0 to 70 degree range.

Aiming was performed manually.

The shell's weight of over two tons

should also be taken into consideration.

The rate of fire was one round per 10 minutes

—its maximum rate.

So, why was that?

First, the mortar was quite difficult to reload after firing.

Gun overheating

was another major factor that should be considered.

Additionally, if the mortar was loaded in haste,

the shells became stuck in the gun,

which proved to be a problem to its operating personnel.

The mortar was able to launch

anti-concrete shells weighing 2,170 kg (4,784 lbs),

with a range of fire up to 4.5 km (2.8 miles).

It could also launch high-explosive shells

weighing "only" 1,700 kg (3,748 lbs) at a distance of up to 6.5 km (4 miles).

The shells reached the speed of 220 to 285 m/s (722 to 935 ft/s);

one could even see them "slowly" flying in the sky.

Karl's gun was so large that it could, theoretically,

fire shells the size of T-34 tank turrets,

which weighed about three tons.

It's battle performance would probably be just as formidable.

On the one hand,

due to the huge destructive power of its high caliber shells,

they were able to severely damage a target.

On the other hand, however, Karl's mortars

did not play a significant role in any of its battles.

The gun's main purpose turned out to be psychological,

supporting German troops who felt more confident

being covered by such a tremendous gun.

In 1944, during the Warsaw Uprising,

these mortars were used to bombard the city.

Karl's rounds were made purely for deterrence.

There are pictures that show its shell bursting

through a building, causing massive destruction,

with debris scattered everywhere —icons of the horrors of war.

In fact, this behemoth

with a huge gun and devastating shells

was never really battle-tested.

Its use was limited for a number of reasons.

Historians have pointed out only three battles

where Karl's mortars were used more or less effectively:

the siege of Brest Fortress, the Battle of Sevastopol,

and the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising.

Despite the lack of any significant service in battle,

the Karl mortar is considered

one of the most bizarre combat machines.

In fact, the Karl mortar is a typical

German Wunderwaffe (wonder weapon) from a book:

huge, complicated, impressively designed,

completely extraordinary, but absolutely useless in practice.

However, in terms of implementing military engineering projects,

the Karl mortar deserves respect, because its designers

created a massive device, possible only at that time.

In other words, attempting to create

something even bigger would have been impossible.

What's Holding the Arab World Back? - Duration: 5:35.

In the judo competition of the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, an Israeli heavyweight judo fighter

named Or Sasson defeated his Egyptian opponent, Islam El Shehaby, in a first-round match.

The Egyptian then refused to shake the Israeli's extended hand, earning boos from the crowd.

If you want the short answer for why the Arab world is sliding into the abyss, look no further

than this little incident.

It illustrates how hatred of Israel and Jews corrupts every element of Arab society.

You won't find this explanation for the Arab world's decline among journalists and academics.

They reflexively blame the usual suspects: the legacy of colonialism, unemployed youth,

the Sunni-Shia sectarian divide, and every other politically correct excuse they can think of.

For them, hatred of Israel is treated like sand in Arabia -- just part of the landscape.

Yet the fact remains that over the past 70 years the Arab world expelled virtually all

of its Jews, some 900,000 people, while holding on to its hatred of them.

Over time the result proved fatal: a combination of lost human capital, expensive wars against

Israel, and an intellectual life perverted by conspiracy theories and a perpetual search

for scapegoats.

The Arab world's problems are a problem of the Arab mindset, and the name of that problem

is anti-Semitism.

As a historical phenomenon, this is not unique.

Historian Paul Johnson has noted that wherever anti-Semitism took hold, social and political

decline almost inevitably followed.

Just a few examples:

Spain expelled its Jews in 1492.

The effect, Johnson noted, "was to deprive Spain (and its colonies) of a class already

notable for the astute handling of finance."

In czarist Russia, the adoption of numerous anti-Semitic laws ultimately weakened

and corrupted the entire Russian government.

These laws also led to mass Jewish emigration, resulting in a breathtaking loss of intellectual

and human capital.

Germany might well have won the race for an atomic bomb if Hitler hadn't sent Jewish scientists

like Albert Einstein and Edward Teller into exile in the U.S.

These patterns were replicated in the Arab world.

Contrary to myth, the cause was not the creation of the state of Israel in 1948.

There were bloody anti-Jewish pogroms in Palestine in 1929, Iraq in 1941, and Libya in 1945.

Nor is it accurate to blame Israel for fueling anti-Semitism by refusing to trade land for peace.

Among Egyptians, hatred of Israel barely abated after Prime Minister Menachem Begin

returned the entire Sinai Peninsula to Egypt.

And among Palestinians, anti-Semitism became markedly worse during the years

of the Oslo peace process.

Johnson calls anti-Semitism a "highly infectious" disease capable of overwhelming intellectuals

and simpletons alike.

Its potency, he noted, lies in transforming a personal and instinctive irrationalism

into a political and systematic one.

For the Jew-hater, every crime has the same culprit and every problem has the same solution.

Anti-Semitism makes the world seem simple.

In doing so, it condemns the anti-Semite to a permanent darkness.

Today there is no great university in the Arab world, no serious scientific research,

a stunted literary culture.

In 2015 the U.S. Patent Office reported 3,804 patents from Israel, as compared with 30 from

Egypt, the largest Arab country.

Hatred of Israel and Jews has also deprived the Arab world of both the resources

and the example of its neighbor.

Israel quietly supplies water to Jordan, helping to ease the burden of Syrian refugees,

and quietly provides surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities to Egypt

to fight ISIS in the Sinai.

But this is largely unknown among Arabs, for whom the only permissible image of Israel

is an Israeli soldier in riot gear, abusing a Palestinian.

Successful nations make a point of trying to learn from their neighbors.

The Arab world has been taught over generations only to hate theirs.

This may be starting to change.

Recently, the Arab world has been forced to face up to its own failings in ways it cannot

easily blame on Israel.

The change can be seen in the budding rapprochement between Jerusalem and Cairo,

Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

But that's not enough.

So long as an Arab athlete can't pay his Israeli opposite the courtesy of a handshake,

the disease of the Arab mind and the misfortunes of its world will continue.

For Israel, this is a pity.

For the Arabs, it's a calamity.

How to use Custom Libraries with VBB/Vbb4Arduino - Duration: 3:20.

So today I am going to show you how to simulate any code

including code that has 3rd party libraries

.. in Virtual Breadboard. So you've got some project.. doesn't matter what it is

and what were going to do is were going to import it

Using the sketch wizard

If it's an arbitary program with 3rd party libraries you need to use a 'Simulator Project'

You zoom to where [the .ino to import] is [ saved on your file system ]

An you import it. First thing we need to do is to save the project

You need to save it as the same name

When your using the Arduino IDE

So..'MyCustomProject'

And if you go across to the Arduino [My VBB4Arduino] Projects

Folder.. you'll see that its copied the [MyCustomProject] INO file

Now the importer set it up so that you can develop from inside Virtual Breadboard

But that's no always possible if you've got 3rd party libraries.

So we're just going to ignore that for now

What I want to show you is there are a couple of different options when launching

The simulation project

It's automatically configured to use

The built in project.. the source project

but we actually want to use this other option. 'Arduino IDE Monitor'

So what that means is when it launches it's going to monitor the output of the Arduino IDE

which actually means it's going to monitor any changes to HEX files in this [VBB Project] folder

So when we launch what it actually does is it looks for any INO files in the folder

and it launches the Arduino IDE

and now, it used to be that it monitored the temporary directories

but now it does it differently in a more reliable way

You need to the use 'export compiled binary' feature

That will export the binary to the [VBB Project] folder

You see when we did now we have these HEX files in here [the VBB Project folder ]

Exported from here [ The Arduino IDE ]

and in Aduino IDE Monitor mode it's monitoring that project directory

looking for new hex files and it's loaded it and it's now running it

So you can then go ahead and develop.. leave it running [ The VBB simulation] if you like

and you see we put the apostrophe '!' in

so this way you can use any code at all

in Virtual Breadboard..

and there the basic steps..

If you didn't know how to hunt or gather you die simply die and can't survive

and people live in groups for security reasons

and all people were poor and living in the same level

the second Economic Age is The Agrarian Age

In the Agrarian Age we have two different parts of the society

Rich and Poor

The Rich part of the society are the people who own the lands

and the people who work the land are the Poor part of the society

So the land at the Agrarian Age became the most valuable asset

The third Economic Age is the Industrial Age

which is widely regarded by starting new manufacturing processes

and the new industrial revolution started

in this Age the Middle Class has been created as the Third Layer

you know, people were Poor, Middle Class or Rich

many people relied on their income that they're generating from their jobs

In this Age, the value of land wasn't considered

because land is producing vegetables or fruits

but, instead because the land is producing the raw materials

like Oil, Gas, Rubber, Tin, Copper and these stuff

to sustain the industrial revolution

this Economic Age was finished by the end of the Cold War

with the fell of Berlin Wall in 1989

to start the Fourth Age

The Fourth Economic Age

is the Information Age

In this Ages, the most valuable asset is the Information and Knowledge

more than other, you know, normal standard assets

In this Age, the gap between the Rich and Poor became bigger

to create a fourth layer, which is the Super Rich

So we have Poor, Middle Class Rich and Super Rich

and the Middle Class started even struggling more in this Age

because more jobs are lost in the Information Age for Robots

and the struggle of the Middle Class became much much bigger

Just think about this

Robots are taking over jobs and the population of the world is increasing

There's Three Types of Income

the First Type of Income is

the leaner Income or Active Income

Where you generate salary or bonus through a job

So basically you're exchanging your time for money

The second type of income

is the Portfolio Income, where you trade something you buy and sell

you buy at lower price and sell hopefully at higher price

Like selling stocks or bonds

or you buy a flat or property at certain price and sell it for capital gain

this is called a Portfolio Income

the third type of income

which is the best type of income if you want to be financially free

is the Passive Income

where you don't exchange your time for money

Basically you have an asset that generate for you the money

Maybe a property generating rents or a business generating profits

Or a franchise generating royalty for you

Or multi-level marketing or affiliate marketing

All these type of businesses or transactions considered a Passive Income

there are Four Ways to Produce Income

the first way is an Employee, and you have active income so you have a job

you're exchanging time for money

the second way is to be Self-Employed

So you own a job

Also it's active income the more you're exchanging time for money

the more you work, the more you make money

Once you stop, the money stops

once you travel for vacation the money stops

and the third type is to be a business owner

So basically you own a system and you're leveraging people

in your team or people who are working with you to generate money for you

So you're not exchanging you time for money

and the fourth type is to be an investor

so you own investments, and the money works for you to create more money for you

Employment is not the solution to become financially free

entrepreneurship is the solution to become financially free

So, What is Financial Freedom?

If we are talking money and it is having

Passive Income generating through an asset

that works for you instead of you exchange your time for money

and this asset should generate income higher than your expenses

so you can be Financially Independent

But if we look at the core of Financial Freedom

it's way more than money it's about having the freedom to be

who you are and to do the things that you dream of doing

without having to worry about money

Be Strategic

Think about this

As an employee, the ratio of your salary increase doesn't match the ration of your expenses

and because your lifestyle over the time demands from you to spend more

While your salary doesn't grow in the same ratio

So, being an employee is not the solution to become financially free

you have to be an entrepreneur

you have to have assets that create money for you

Instead of exchanging your time for money

you have to learn how to invest even if you're an employee

you have to learn How To Invest

you have to select the right category of investment that works for you

so why you have to be Financially Free?

First, you'll have less worry and stress in your life

Second, you'll have more time to spend with the people that you love

Third, you'll have more freedom to pursue whatever you like

hobbies, exercise sport travel and discover the world

and more time to act on goals bigger than yourself

to leave this world with a good legacy

so that's why you have to be financially free

the idea of being in the rat race and repeating the same thing over and over again

doesn't work anymore in the Information Age

the idea that your parents told you and your friends

that you have to study well, go to school make good grades and go to university

so you can get a good job

doesn't work in the Information Age

more jobs and jobs are lost overtime and the population of the world is increasing

so you have to do something about that

you have to change that

you have to adapt with the new world

the rules of money changes

in every Economic Age

you cannot adapt the rules of money from the Industrial Age

on the Information Age

Financial Freedom also means that you can play with your cat

I made some mistakes in this video but I decided to share it with you to give you some advice what to AVOID

1) Most of the time game stock tools are not compatible with modded tools.

2) If you adapt more than one implement on your tractor the option HIRE WORKER It is likely to malfunction

3) If you decide to combine Front cultivator and sowing machine try to have the same working width or if you can not find the same working width Sowing Machine must be wider.

My first thought to combine Vss Front Cultivator and Amazone EDX 6000 TC ...

But my the calculations were wrong and I made the wrong choice to use game stock KVERNELAND OPTIMA V Sowing Machine

So the Front Cultivator it was wider and a part of the field stay unplanted

To overload the sowing machine , must be stop and folded

the worker confused

Welcome, my beloved friend of peace and anchor of wonder and anchor of love.

Yes, there is great chaos upon your planet and it has come to the surface for recognition,

for elimination, for reworking, regridding, reformation.

It matters not what you call it, sweet one.

It is simply a matter of change of form and it is a necessary change of form, change of

energy, change of substance so that humanity goes forth in heart, as love, as One.

It sounds so simple and yet, of course, it is not.

And never is the aspect of free will, of self-determination, of choice ever interfered with from this side

or this realm.

Do we attempt and influence?

Yes, we do.

Do we guide and protect?

Of course we do.

But the ultimate wisdom, the ultimate love, the ultimate knowing in the recognition of

self-divinity is always ever present, omnipresent, and it will not be overridden.

The challenge, of course � and this has never changed throughout time and space as

you think of it � the challenge has always been the awakening of that omnipresent wisdom,

the omnipresence of love within each and every heart.

To us, it is strange and yes, sometimes sad that this love, this power, this life-force,

this love-force is not fully acknowledged, activated and allowed free reign.

Any witnesses� you observe this and at times you struggle with this in your community,

in the understanding and the lack of understanding of how people proceed.

It is confusing on the most elemental level when beings do not choose love.

To us, it is the choice beyond choice, it is the alignment beyond alignment, it is the

decision beyond decision because nothing else in any realm makes sense.

There are those upon your planet who wish to reclaim, reconstruct, recreate the old

third and that is what they are attempting to do.

But, sweet angel of love, you know and those who are the loveholders know that this simply

will not occur.

The old third no longer exists.

It is that simple.

So while there are efforts to reclaim what they view as a lost kingdom.

It is a time, in many ways, where you are stepping back and becoming more the observer

then the participant then the observer?

Yes, but that is alright.

There are billions upon billions upon billions of variables, adjustments, attunements to

and within our Divine Mother�s Plan.

But let us be clear � the broader Plan, and the broader Plan of the restoration of

love upon this planet of sweet Gaia, has never changed and it is not about to.

Now, is the Mother infinitely patient?

Yes.

And is our reference of time and space very different than yours?

Yes.

But let us suggest to you� no, let us just flat out tell you � the Mother�s Plan

is in unfoldment.

The restoration of peace on Earth is in unfoldment.

So while it may look messy and chaotic, the Mother has not backed away from her Plan and

neither have we.

It will be done, and it will be done timely.

And when I say �timely�, I do not mean the infamous �soon�.

What I mean, sweet angel, is within a very near framework

in your time and ours.
