TRAILER | The Artist's Sketchbook: Figures in Gouache | Part 3 with Steve Huston - Duration: 1:14.

Hi, I'm Steve Huston.

Today we're going to work in sketchbooks and I'm going to show you how to render

in a sketchbook.

We'll work small and relatively fast.

We're working with gouache.

We'll show you how you can get all the advantages of watercolor but then take it into a more

finished and slightly opaque version of it of that.

I love this technique.

It's fun.

The pressure is off.

It's a great way to get mileage in rendering without all the pressure of the big finish.

Steve Huston is an internationally renowned painter and draftsman, who has worked for

such clients as Caesar's Palace, MGM, Paramount Pictures, and Universal Studios.

He has taught drawing and painting at Disney, Warner Brothers, Blizzard Entertainment, and

Dreamworks Studios.

We're going to work from some figures.

We're going to do a couple of demos.

Then I'll take you all the through the process of laying in the drawing, building up the

paint, the color, the richness, and getting some flair to the technique.

Let's go ahead and get started.

JavaScript engine, Vue.js and learning routing: FrontEnd news (27 Jun'18) - Duration: 6:53.

Hi!

Let's talk today about JavaScript engine, VueJS and learning routing.

I'm Anatol and you are watching the Good Parts of the Frontend development.

If this is your first time here and you wanna learn Frontend and JavaScript, start right

now by subscribing and don't forget to turn on the subtitles.

Let's start today from an article titled "Parcel: How Simple Is It, Really?" by Tom Vance.

If you haven't played with this 'zero config' bundler yet, this is a simple introduction

to this tool.

Andrzej Mazur has posted an interesting article "Progressive Web Games" at Mozilla Hacks.

The author explores the concept of Progressive Web Games to see if the concept is practical

and viable in a modern web development environment.

Google App Engine Now Supports Node 8.

Google App Engine is a Fully managed serverless application platform.

Now we have one more alternative for Node.js hosting with very minimal changes.

Mathis Bynens and Benedict Meurer made a fantastic write-up (with video, if preferred) looking

at the key parts of major JavaScript VMs/engines and how they interact with the code you write.

"Image Inconsistencies: How and When Browsers Download Images" by Harry Roberts describes

browser's curious behavior regarding that process.

Browsers don't download images referenced in CSS until the CSS object model is built

which could lead you to use "img" tags to load images more quickly.

But Firefox may not behave as you'd expect here.

Ryan Dahl made a report "10 Things I Regret About Node.js", among them are the build system,

security, and modules.

In addition, Ryan presented his new project "deno", that should be better.

jQuery was good but it's time to make way for new stuff.

"Replacing jQuery with Vue" takes a shot at convincing you that using Vue.js doesn't

have to be a headache and will help even on basic projects.

In the article "From VanillaJS to Vue.js: A refactoring tale" the author described step

by step how he implemented Vue in his already built application, so you can use this experience

if you're thinking about Vue in your project.

You can read this story on Hackernoon.

You've definitely heard about React Native (and of course about its pitfalls).

This time let me share with you a "Vue Native" project.

Vue Native is a framework to build cross-platform native mobile apps using JavaScript.

It is designed to connect React Native and Vue.js and under the hood, it transpiles to

React Native.

Have you ever thought about CSS alleged vulnerabilities?

In the article "Side-channel attacking browsers through CSS3 features" Ruslan Habalov has

described how a side-channel vulnerability in browser implementations of the CSS3 feature

mix-blend-mode allowed visual content to leak from cross-origin iframes.

And now a few words about Aesthetics & Usability: "Why You Shouldn't Use Bright, Saturated

Colors for Backgrounds".

The author uses real web-pages to show how tone down that saturation could improve the

user experience.

You can read this article on UX Movement.

David Gwyer in his turn has posted an article namely "Level up your CSS selector skills".

This is an in-depth review of interesting CSS selectors, complete with live, editable

examples, plus a few that will be available in the future.

Does a front-end developer need math?

I believe they do.

In my case it helped to build a better product.

The author of the article "Math and front-end" also noted: "as I got older, I realized that

certain mathematical principles actually had practical applications in my day-to-day work".

I do believe that becoming a lifelong learner is a skill that is worth mastering.

If you agree, please have a look at "Staying up-to-date as a software developer with a

daily learning routine".

Here you can find the method, list of sources and tool to optimize your learning process.

The last but not least point for today is the article titled "Defeating Electron".

In this post Felix Rieseberg explains how this technology competes with native desktop

solutions.

In case you're going to build your next project using Electron pay attention here.
