Hi my name is Szymon Staszkiewicz. I'm a 19-year-old motocross racer from Poland
I would like to introduce myself a little bit for you, make some kind of an
overview of myself. I started riding dirt bikes in 2007 it all started on a 65cc bike
In 2009 I managed to be a Polish champion in a 65 class. Later on I moved
to the 85cc bike where I started to race a little bit more international
races. Especially in 2012 when I raced in ADAC Junior Cup on the 85 cc bike and
Dutch Masters of Motocross where I finished 8th in ADAC and 6th in Dutch
Masters of Motocross. In 2013 I made a switch to the 125cc bike and in that
season I was second in the Polish championship so it was a satisfying
season, especially because it was my rookie year, so I was happy about it.
In the end of the season I injured my foot pretty badly. I broke three bones in 11
places, so I had to take whole season break for 2014. When I finally got back on the bike
I went for winter training to Spain where I hurt my back, so the
whole rehab had to come back and had the second season in a row spent on the rehab,
I couldn't write the dirt bike. In the year 2016 I was finally able to compete in
the European Championship races. I had some solid runs in here next 125 class
especially in Latvia, Lombardia and Belgium
as I finished there in top 10. During that season I had some downs too, as I had some
bike issues, so I was not able to finish some races in the EMX. In the result I
finished the whole season on on 11th place. I think it's a good result, I mean I was
satisfied with it. It was some kind of my dream to race in the EMX. It means a
lot to me because on every round there were like 60 riders who wanted to
qualify and race in the main but only 40 had chance do it. In September I raced
in Motocross of Nations event. I was proud to represent Team Poland especially
because I was one of the youngest guys competing there against top world class
racers it was an honor to ride there. In 2017 I moved up to the 250 class. I focused
mostly on ADAC Youngster Cup. As you may know it's one of the most competitive
series in Europe. That year I had a solid season except that I had some
health problems in the end of the season. I was not able to ride as good as I
wanted but anyway I managed to finish the season in Youngster Cup on 11th
place. I think it was not too bad for the rookie year. In November there was
organized supercross event in Gdańsk. It was actually the European Supercross. I
came there without any expectations because I didn't know what to expect
honestly. I had no training on supercross, my suspension was not set up for it,
I had normal motocross suspension so you can imagine how hard it was to ride it
but anyway after qualifying I could see that I can fight for a podium so I just
gave my best and I managed to be 3rd overall in the championship, what
I'm really, really proud of. I had a second chance to represent my country on
the MXON race... It was a successful season at all I can say.
This year I made the switch to a 250 two-stroke machine. I just wanted to see
actually how it is on a "big bike". After my first ride on it I liked it pretty much,
I enjoyed riding, so I decided to race the whole season
on the two-stroke. I had a strong beginning of the season, as I managed
to be 2nd on the Polish Cup in MX Open class. Unfortunately on the first
round of the polish championship I managed to ride just one heat.
I finished 3rd there and in the second heat I had a huge crash. I broke my hand, so I
had to take a rest for almost two months. I came back to racing for the third
round of the Polish Championship without any preparation, I mean since the injury I
didn't ride a dirtbike, so I just wanted to try myself. I finished 3rd there in
MX2 class. It was a satisfying comeback. On the round 4 of the Polish
Championship I I took the win, my shape was constantly
improving, what I was happy about. In September on the Motocross of European
Nations event I raced for Team Poland what was proud of. The qualifying was going
good for me, I was 4th in EMX 250 class. It was all going good, but unfortunately
in the first heat I twisted my ankle due to landing on my foot, so I had to
take a 2 weeks break. When I got on the bike I went immediately on a supercross
training just to prepare myself for the upcoming supercross season as I wanted
to ride in European Championship of Supercross and ADAC SX Cup,
that was the plan. One day after a supercross training
session I decided to go on the Yamaha test day to Sobieńczyce, what is 100km
from me. I had an accident there. That crash cost me pretty much as
I had some pretty serious inner damages such as burst liver...
...spleen and kidney. At the moment I cannot ride a dirtbike yet. It's hard to say
actually when I'm gonna be back. I'm happy to say that this week I started to
do some lighter exercises such as indoor cycling and swimming, so I'm gonna do anything
what's possible to be back in a shape quicker and be ready for the upcoming season.
Thank you guys for watching. I hope you enjoyed the vlog. Let me know
what you think about it, what kind of vlogs would you like to see in the
future when I'm gonna be back on the bike.
