Hello and welcome to another uMake tutorial series, my name is Nyko and in this series

I'm going to walk you through the steps necessary to create a nice diamond ring.

Now this is going to be a studded ring that has diamonds going all the way around it,

but hopefully the steps that you see in this tutorial will help you create your own designs as well.

If you are interested in doing jewelry pay attention and let's jump into it.

To get started I'm going to go into the side panel and over to the settings, and them I'm

going to go in to the grid units and I want to set this into Millimeters.

This is going to help us essentially keep everything at a good and realistic scale.

So now that I have that in millimeters I'm good to go and I'm going to zoom in here and

I'm just going to start off by drawing a circle.

Now I'm in the front view and I'm going to draw a circle and you will see that that circle

forms, and we have a surface.

I don't need that surface so I'm going to double tap on it and erase it.

I want to select his curve here, I'm going to bring it over and snap it to the grid,

so now it is snapped to the grid.

Now I want to see the size of it.

Right now it is 6.5mm.

The size 6 which is kind of a relatively standard size of a ring is about 16.4mm, I looked that

up earlier today because I didn't know.

I'm going to make this 16.4mm, and I tapped on this lock icon here and that will keep

the proportions the same.

It means that both sides will be re-scaled to 16.4mm.

There we go, that is at 16.4mm.

That is a good size for us to start with.

This circle that we drew is essentially going to be used as guide circle for what we do next.

The next thing that I want to do is I want to actually going into the playground, then

go down to product > Jewelry, and you will that when you go to Jewelry it opens by default

in the gemstone pack.

We have tons of various gemstones, Heart cut gemstones, Old Single gemstones emeralds,

trillions, pear cut, circle cut, table cut and oval, and so we have a nice set of

various gemstones.

I'm going to take the circle cut, I've always liked circle cuts, and I think for this ring

it will work better.

I'm just going to tap it and bring it in and I'm going to drop it right about here for now.

Now that looks relatively big for the size of the ring, I want to make this a little

bit smaller, so I'm going to just scale it - select the whole thing, scale it down and

turn snap to grid off for now.

I'm going to bring this down so that the tip is on the ring, and I want to center it over

this axis.

Move it where you need it, and kind of re-evaluate the size, I think I'll go with something more

like this, and bring it down a little bit more.

There we go, so hopefully that is not too small, but I think for a ring that should

be good.

Now the next step that we want to do is we are going to go to the side view, and we are

basically going to draw a profile for the ring.

I'm going to move this stone quickly and center it there.

We are going to draw a curve that is essentially going to going to make the profile of the

ring and we are going to make a revolved surface out of it.

I'm only going to draw half of it and then I'm going to mirror it over.

I'm just going to draw a shape like that, well that didn't work out at all.

Sorry about that, let's try that again.

Nice curve, over, down and something like that.Lets try it one more time.

Now you can always edit these curves, I'm trying to get something pretty nice straight

off the bat.

That's ok, I'm going to come in and just edit this quickly.

We want the stone to stick up just a little bit, so I'm going to just move some of these

points down.

The nice thing is we have these joined points here so that will give us a nice kind of edge here.

Drag these points down, and if we don't need ones, for example like this one, I don't think

I need this one, I'm just going to tap and hold and delete it.

Keep in mind the less points you have, the simpler the curve, the better your design

can look.

Now I'm going to actually start coming in and deleting some more points here, I just

don't need those.

Now lets make this bottom section just a little thicker.

This is the part that is going to go against your finger.

You don't need these.

That looks like a nice little profile there.

Bring this over.

There we go.

I'm going to pull these control points down a little bit more.

There is our profile.

I'm going to stop her for now, and then we are going to go through and kind of clean

this up a little bit more and in the second tutorial add some posts around the gemstone

and create the actual ring.

So I hope you enjoy this, I hope this is a good start.

I know we didn't do a whole lot, we just basically drew circle, brought in a gemstone and just

started modifying a curve that we drew, but in the next step you are going to see that

all of this will come together very nicely.

If you have any comments, questions or feedback for us definitely let us know, and stay tuned

for the next lesson.

Take care.

Creating a Necklace in uMake - Part 1 - Duration: 6:23.

Hello and welcome to another uMake Tutorial Series, my name is Nyko and in this tutorial

series I'm going to walk you though the steps to create a necklace, and in this case it

is more like a choker made up of various patterns.

To start off, as you can see I have a circle and two horizontal lines the circle is 12cm

by 12cm, I set the grid units to Centimeters under the settings and under dimensions and

centimeters here, and then I moved the circle down from the front view and drew these two

horizontal lines using the precision tool.

The reason I have these horizontal lines is I'm going to actually create a pattern with

them with a little square.

Imagine if that little square with the pattern in it is kind of like a metal, kind of like

a laser cut or etched metal surface and then we are going to make an array of those that's

going to create a nice little choker.

So to get started, what I want to do once you have this is I'm just going to start drawing

some organic curves and I don't really know where this is going to go, so it's going to

be pretty fun to see what happens!

So I'm going to draw a curve like this, and maybe another curve that kind of parallels

it, and you will see that because I have the two horizontal lines it fills in with a surface.

Now I'm going to draw a curve like this and another one like this, and something like

that, maybe something that comes in like that, and then something like this.

And the point is I'm trying to kind of make a nice pattern here.

We'll go ahead and close off this edge here.

There we go.

maybe do something that bridges between that, there and here.

There we go, that looks pretty cool, I have no idea what this will give, but we will find

out in just a little bit.

I think I'm going to add one more curve there.

Ok, there we go.

So now what I'm going to do is I'm going to come in and get rid of the sections that I

don't think I need.

so I'l get rid of this, get rid of this, get rid of this big one here, this one here, add

a little curve.

This one here.

This bottom one, actually all of these bottom ones.

And now you have this little pattern.

I think that looks pretty cool!

We will see what this gives, but for now, that is what we have.

I'm going to come in and get rid of this end here, this end here, and that.

So the next thing I want to do is to even up all the line weight by selecting everything

and under pen, I'm going to come in and change this down to make it a little lighter.

Now everything has equal line weight.

That is our piece that we are going to use for the actual choker.

One thing that you might notice here is there is all these things here and then you just

have these curves at the bottom.

I actually didn't add any width here, so I think I should do that, I'll draw a curve

here, and another one like that.

Now that you see that I've actually added some surfaces so I need to come back in and

erase some of the ones I got rid of again.

That's ok.

As you make your pattern or your piece, you will kind of know notice some issues, but

that actually looks pretty cool.

Get rid of this last one here.

I'm liking this.

Alright, so that's done now, and with that, done, I'm actually going to

move it over like this, and then up like that.

I need to turn snap to grid off.

Just kind of move it over to the edge of this curve.

And we are going to stop there for the first part of this necklace tutorial.

So what you saw is we created this nice little pattern piece here, and this is actually going

to become the choker, or the necklace.

Imagine these as individual pieces that are held together, chained together and they create

a necklace or a choker.

Hope you liked this, if you have any comments or questions or suggestions for us, definitely

let us know, in the comments down below, and if you liked this, let us know and reach out

Creating a Necklace in uMake - Part 3 - Duration: 5:14.

Hello and welcome to another uMake tutorial, this is the third section of the How to Create

a Necklace in uMake tutorial series, we are actually kind of making more of a choker,

but as you can see we created this nice shape or this nice piece here and what we are going

to do in this lesson is we are going to walk you through the steps to make an array of

this and turn it into something that looks more like a necklace or more like a choker.

So to get started I'm going to select this whole piece here, and you can see that I have

this circle that I created and I'm going to use that circle to create an array around.

So now that I have the whole piece that I've made selected I'm going to go to the top view,

I'm going to tap array, and I'm going to move this over like that.

You will see that because we have this circle, the center point of the array snaps into place.

I'm going to move the number of copies up, and we might get lucky where they will overlap

a little bit.

There we go, at 15 it overlaps just perfectly.

You can see that as they overlap you get this really cool looking necklace or choker.

Now it's a little bit geometric but I've seen some chokers out there like that made out

of little pieces of metal that are hinged together.

So once I'm done I'm going to tap the green check mark and we have something that looks

I think relatively nice.

Now I'm going to get rid of this circle down here, I don't need that anymore, and now you

have a couple options of things you can do.

Once you know that it's about 15 that you need, you can come in and you can do a few

different things to it.

If I tap the 'Undo' button, I can go back to the state prior to the Array, what I can

do is I can add some depth to this if I want and basically to do that you would just go

through and kind of get to an angle like this and you could go through each surface and

use the push pull functionality and just kind of pull back a little bit on each surface.

Now this can be relatively time consuming so if you want to do it definitely go ahead,

it will make things look a little bit more interesting because they will have some depth.

It's totally up to you if you want to do that.

Now again, I did this assuming that this surface or this element would be relatively thin,

so I didn't really go ahead and add dept to the surfaces anyways, but you can if you want.

I'll just go in and add some.

So there you go you can see that we've added some depth to this design, and it looks a

little bit nicer.

You can go ahead and add some other options to it as well.

One other thing that you could also do is you could embellish the ends of this, for

example you could add some little spheres to it, or some gem stones if you wanted to.

That could look pretty nice.

I think I'm actually going to do that on the bottom or the top.

I'm going to come over here to the playground, then go to product, then jewelry, and let's

see, I might add a circle cut here.

Shrink this way down.

I'll just put this on one end for now since they will be overlapping.

So that could be pretty nice.

So you have a few different options.

Basically what you can do is come in, select that now that you have some depth to it, and

a nice little gemstone, and we will do the same thing again.

Go to the top view, tap array, bring the green point in like that, go to copies and go to 15.

Looks pretty cool.

So there is the necklace or your choker.

I hope you enjoyed this, if you have any comments, questions or feedback for us definitely let us know.

You can find us on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

We would love to see what kind of necklaces or jewelry you create.

If you have any suggestions for us in terms of tutorials to make or functionality that

would really help you design your jewelry definitely let us know.

We would love to hear from you.

That concludes this tutorial series as well.

Thanks guys for watching and we would love to see what you make.

Take care, have a great day!

Creating a Necklace in uMake - Part 2 - Duration: 6:40.

Hello and welcome to another uMake tutorial, in the second part of how to create a necklace

tutorial series, we are actually going to take this piece right here and make a necklace out of it.

So I created this kind of organic looking piece in the first lesson, basically by just

drawing a bunch of curves between two horizontal lines and this creates something that is somewhat

organic and a little bit interesting.

You could imagine this as something that is kind of laser cut or etched and that will

be chained together which will create a choker of some sort.

So, to start off I moved this, and it's kind of on the edge of this circle here.

I'm going to scale it down just a little bit, I think that looks a little bit more appropriate,

and with that, what I want to do is I'm actually going to make the links for it, and I'm going

to add a couple more elements to it.

So the first thing I want to do is I kind of want to add some things to the edge, I

think that will look a little bit nicer.

So I'm going to come in and create a circle, and then turn copy on, and bring this down,

and split that, and this is going to do something like that.

As you can see this drew on a different plane, so I'm actually going to do that on a Sketch Plane.

So we will just tap right here on the item so I can draw on the same plane.

I'll draw the circle again, and then turn copy on.

There we go.

Get rid of this.

make sure copy is off and scale this down just a little bit.

Bring this over like that.

Now I'm going to make some copies again, and just bring these over.

There we go, that looks pretty nice.

I'm going to just select these, and actually copy them down below, like that.

Turn copy off, move them over, just a little bit.

I might need one more.

Select the surface - if you select the surface it is the easiest way to make a copy.

There we go.

Perfect.

Looks pretty nice.

So those are kind of the edge pieces there.

I'm going to now select everything, and I'm going to give it a material.

I'll come over here and make it gold.

When I do that, from the front view you won't see it but that actually looks really nice.

From here, (top view) I want to draw

a little circle, scale this down just a little bit, and bring this over like that.

This is going to be the thing that links each element together, so I'm just going to move

a copy over here a little bit.

That should work.

I'm going to select this curve here, extrude it up, and then move it over, something like that.

I'll do the same thing over here.

I can already anticipate where this needs to go so I'm going to move it over a little bit.

I can now extrude it straight up.

There we go.

Make those gold as well.

Now our piece has some trim on the edges and, and these little parts that link it together.

Alright, so we are going to stop or pause here for now and in the next section we are

going to actually take this and build an array around it and this is going to create the

overall look of the choker.

Hope you guys liked this, if you have any comments, questions or feedback for us definitely

let us know.

We cannot wait to see what you create.

You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and here on YouTube.

Stay tuned for the next section.

Take care!
