Waching daily Dec 28 2018

Hello again.

As basketball officials we love to look at plays.

That's what we're gonna do today:

let's look at some plays. stick around!

hello again it's Greg with abetterofficial.com

where we craft video to

help basketball officials get better and take control of their officiating career.

Welcome to another edition of 5 play Fridays where we look at plays and see

what we can take from them so that we can get better as basketball officials.

5 play Fridays is weekly series with new videos releasing every Friday during

the basketball season. make sure to hit subscribe and also the notification bell

so you don't miss out on any of our new videos. a quick thank you to those who

bought us a cup of coffee this week. very generous and much appreciated!

thank you. you can always buy us a coffee at abetterofficial.com/coffee

now let's look at plays! today we're going to look at plays going from trail to

lead. primary coverage. primary defenders. secondary defenders. how we're going to

officiate this game in two-person mechanics of course these principles

also apply to three person mechanics our emphasis today is understanding which

players we are officiating what our primary responsibilities are and staying

connected to plays as trail not giving up on them

on this play the lead is official is responsible for the secondary defender

he's officiating this play for a possible block charge for absence of

verdict verticality for elbow contact here the trail official is responsible

for the primary defender on the play the primary defender is red one and

needs to stay with the play and get this push by red one on our airborne shooter

we're dividing the responsibilities of a who's officiating what lead is

responsible for secondary defender on a drive to the lane the trail needs to

stay connected on the primary defender and also ready to make any calls on

obvious fouls in their secondary

so the primary focus of this play is staying connected as trail but having

discipline as a crew recognizing who is officiating what play down the lane

secondary defender belongs to the lead lead has first crack in their primary

coverage area trail official has this player primary defender we could from

the trail I have a reach-in by this player here but this blocked charge play

belongs to the lead

alright screening action player in the trails primary Pass and crash play

offensive foul by lead

player establishes legal guarding position prior to the player going

airborne we noticed the shoulder turn is that a factor on this play

not by rule oftentimes a cue that our brain receives and our brain says oh

wait a minute he did something he's there for you illegal players allowed to

turn to avoid contact offensive foul

you

right this is a crew discipline play super easy charge call but this play

completely belongs to the lead fast-break all defenders our secondary

lead has first crack in case of a double whistle we want our mechanics to be

clean fist up confirm then signal especially as the outside official we

don't want to give a preliminary signal when the play is not enough primary

you

connected as trail primary defender is beaten

we need to stay with this play so this defender belongs to the lead the

secondary defender but the trail needs to stay connected and have the backside

defender

that's illegal contact

that's a foul that's a shooting foul

a fun play to end on who doesn't like the 3/4 court shot big court as well but

even in a fun play like this there's something for us to focus on

the gyms excited everybody's excited is the team that just got scored upon

excited end of a period and during timeouts we need to observe the players

crossing it has to be a habit we can't be focused on our mechanics and you know

scoring goals and things like that we have to observe players okay in this

instance the player throws the ball to the lead if it was at all inconvenient

just let the ball go watching the players is more important the players

back here are all good main concern for me on this play is number 30 his

demeanor is not happy right and he's going right into the black team coming

off the bench. it's not impossible to imagine a scenario where somebody gets

shoved here or a word is said or something we just have to know what's

happening on the play we have to know right close in observe.

hey everybody

thanks for sticking around I'm getting to the end of the video

much appreciated we do have additional videos available check those out but if

you do me a favor right now and just like this video if you felt it provided

value to you if you want to share it to your association your group that's much

appreciated so we can all get better together here at abetterofficial.com

take care

Selecting Layouts for the New Wix Blog - Duration: 4:11.

hey I'm bloggin Brandi and I've been using wix to design my new website and

in this video I'm showing you how to change the layout for all of your posts

and category pages in your new Wix blog the easiest way to access your blog is

either from your live site if you're on your live site then you can select blog

from your navigational menu and this is going to take you to this main blog page

which shows all of your posts and if you're signed in you're going to see the

option to go to your Wix website editor and that's what this page actually looks

like so if you're in your editor then you can select blog from the drop down

menu at the top of the page and that's going to take you here now once you're

actually in your editor you're gonna select the page just by

clicking it and you're gonna see some options pop up to either manage posts or

settings I'm gonna select settings and then you can choose layouts

now right now you can see the layout on the page is side-by-side but maybe you

want it to look more editorial so you have the picture on the top and the text

on the bottom versus side-by-side where you have the text to the side and the

picture or to the side now you can also choose things like magazine or postcard

or some other options and this is just going to change the way that the font is

looking according to the picture either over the picture or with editorial you

can see it's under the picture and then some of these are going to stretch the

full width of the page depending on which of these options that you choose

now also if you have category pages set up or categories set up for your posts

you can do the same thing for those pages the only catch is if you change

anything on the categories page it's going to change it for all categories

pages so you can make the categories pages

different than the alt post feed but you can't change each individual category

page looking till so you can do that on all posts or the category pages so we're

gonna leave this as side-by-side because I kind of like it side by side but if

you wanted to change it all you're doing is going to settings layout editorial

and you can see what it looks like that way so either way whichever you choose

is fine but it's very easy to do and then once you've made these changes a

lot of your changes are automatically saved as you're going along with the Wix

website editor which is great but if they haven't saved you can always choose

to save them up here but that if it doesn't say save it's gonna say save so

you can choose that option then you can preview your changes that you've made

before you publish them and see what they actually look like on a live

website with the preview button and then once you're ready to publish those

changes you want to actually hit publish or no one will see you all of the

beautiful work that you just said you can view your website that you've

created this is the live site after the changes have been implemented you can go

to blog and see any changes that you've made so now you know how to change the

layout for your new blog if you need help you can watch more tutorials just

like this one and check out the description below this video or visit

iPad Pro Bending - We've been here before - Duration: 5:00.

Hi everyone Aaron here for ZolloTech and many of you have commented about how

easily we're seeing that the new iPads Pro actually flex in a lot of people's

videos and many of you are concerned about buying one because of that now I

want to say first of all I haven't had that issue at all but I'm very careful

with it and I'm always careful to make sure I set it flat in fact why first did

the unboxing of this I brought that up and said this feels really nice and thin

in light but you push on it a very little bit very very little pressure it

will flex just about anyone I think could do this a little baby could

probably flex this I'm putting such light pressure on this so it definitely

flexes and then there's a weak spot on this side where you have the wireless

charger for the Apple pencil where it flexes and if you were to push this in a

certain rate I'm not sure what the force would be you could snap that pretty

easily now I think the reason part of the reason mine's been nice and flat is

I'm using the keyboard folio case and this in itself brings up the rigidity of

the device quite a bit so if I push on this this feels very strong very rigid

and it also keeps the camera bump from sticking out so if someone was using

this iPad flipped over the other way with a pencil and wasn't using a case

this camera bump alone could probably cause some flex in the chassis an apple

had said that they were arriving bent to some people and even X Apple employees

were saying that theirs were bent and to me that's just unacceptable now we've

been here before with the iPhone 6 and 6-plus

this is my iPhone 6 plus from years ago I've had the skin on forever it's not a

sponsored thing or anything so this has been on here forever and it's been nice

and straight it's not flexed or bent in any way and this is a known problem for

this phone and happened to a lot of people just by putting them in their

pocket they didn't have to sit on it or anything like that it could be in their

front pocket and it would been however Apple realize that and then after the

this one they came out the following year with a more for a higher grade of

aluminum to prevent that problem from happening over and over and so I think

we'll see the same thing with this one however if we go back to the

had heir to this one also had some flex in it and it it was a problem I thought

back then but I didn't see anybody snapping iPads back then just to see how

a week they were this is probably more difficult to snap I guess you'd need a

press to figure out what kind of pressure it takes to snap it but they

all flex a little bit even the ten point five inch iPad pro does the same but it

definitely feels more rigid than this new design however if we took a look at

what Apple is using they're using aluminum I don't know what grade

aluminum they're using it may be the same as the six or the 6s plus I'm not

sure but they definitely could either thicken this or or maybe even make a

special version that's titanium it would be similar in color super rigid and

strong but it would cost them more money and I think it'd be fine for a thousand

dollar device but maybe not for mass production I don't know I'm not an iPad

engineer but I would love to see them reinforce this make it a lot stronger

and maybe even do a recall if there's a problem with them flexing helped people

out I don't know that we'll ever see that but unfortunately this is the

current state of Apple and if you've ever seen Microsoft Surface tablet when

they first announced it they actually made a skateboard out of it and stood on

it to show how durable it is and that's made out of magnesium whereas this is

made out of aluminum and I think Apple may need to explore either more metier

metier or maybe or thicken this and this particular device I really love using it

but I am worried that it will flex just by put putting it in a backpack I won't

put it in a backpack on a plane because I'm afraid it will it will flex I'll

just bring the 10.5 inch and not worry about it

this one is just too weak in my opinion so I'll use it at home carefully and

hopefully Apple will fix it in the long run so that's it I just wanted to talk

about that a little bit because people are concerned if you're careful with

your devices I wouldn't be concerned just make sure you have Apple karent's

in case something happens I'm sure Apple will replace it for you but if you don't

have Apple care you may want to get one of the older ones at a discounted price

anyway but let me know if this has happened to you at all if you had yours

been have you did did you buy one anyway I'd love to

hear what you think in the comments below

and also if you haven't subscribed already please subscribe and like as

always thanks for watching this is Aaron I'll see you next time

4 Simple Questions That Build Your Self Confidence & Boost Your Self Esteem! - Duration: 8:26.

this videos about four questions that make you more confident so if you

currently don't feel confident enough you want to get more confident you want

to develop more self-esteem you want to feel absolutely powerful in your life

these simple 4 questions will massively change how you feel about yourself for

the better so let's get into it

it's Stephan Erdman here if you're new here say hi in the comments hit that

subscribe button and click the notification bell as well so that you

get the upcoming videos when they come out so let me say something up front

that I've learned in my life questions are the most powerful way of controlling

your focus and getting yourself to focus on something that you want to focus on

now why would you want to control your focus because what you focus on you

experience and questions are the easiest way to trick your mind into getting

focused on a specific topic because if you ask yourself the question it's

proven that the mind cannot resist answering it at least subconsciously or

of course even consciously bottom-line what you focus on you experience and

what you experience creates a state in yourself and that could be a state of

confidence or a complete state of disarray or unhappiness or whatever it

is that you don't want to feel okay so let's focus on some questions that get

you to focus on things that put you into a great state for example a state of

confidence the state of self-esteem and a state of being pleased with yourself

question number one what am i grateful for what am i grateful for is a

fantastic question in any situation in life whether you're frustrated unhappy

unconfident or you you you run out of self esteem or something bad has

happened it resets you with a focus on what you have what you are already happy

with and it creates confidence and self-esteem so when you use this

question all you have to do is ask yourself the question what am i grateful

for set your timer as I always say for 5 or 10 minutes however much time you have

and you just brainstorm ideally out loud what you're grateful for some people

prefer to write things down some people prefer to say it out loud some people

prefer to say it in their head but the key thing is to stay focused on that

question what am i grateful for and you're just brainstorming you're not

censoring yourself at that point you're not stopping yourself oh is this the

right thing to be grateful for the wrong thing to be grateful for you just focus

on brainstorming anything that comes into your mind that you're grateful for

you say it out loud or you write it down or whatever you do in that process okay

they all work the key thing is to focus on answering the question in as many

ways and that's deep away as you possibly can for a limited amount of

time or for as much as you can and then you will notice a shift in your state

towards more confidence and more self-esteem now that's probably the most

commonly used question to put yourself into a better state but here's my second

question okay what am I good at this is one of my favorite questions what am I

good at and then you do the same thing you brainstorm and then all of a sudden

you start to focus on your strengths and when you start to focus on your

strengths no matter how City they are if you're good at making omelets it doesn't

matter if you're good at doing free kicks when you play football it doesn't

matter I mean just list everything that you're good at and it doesn't matter

what it is just focus on stuff that you're good at and you'll notice it will

shift your state after a while and if it doesn't straightaway do it just keep

going it's also very pleasant and it makes you feel good because it creates

self-esteem and confidence so focus on question number two what am I good at

and just brainstorm around that for five or ten minutes

the third question what do I love about myself now for some people this is

incredibly hard I understand and it may seem weird or strange or just really odd

but it's just a question and you let yourself answer so you brainstorm around

that what do I love about myself and if you like I don't love anything about

myself then ask yourself what could I love about myself and just brainstorm

just do it that's the most important thing don't just think oh this is

city or whatever is not gonna work you have to just do it okay if you don't do

it it doesn't work for sure so if this seems weird you need it even more and

then just focus on things that you could love about yourself and it takes some

practice for some people if love is too strong a word start with like and then

build up to love and notice how much better you feel and of course if you do

this every day you will notice a real incremental

impact now the last one maybe will surprise you the most and it also took

me the longest to understand because most people get this wrong in their

minds and they see themselves very much in competition with other people but

here's the question what do I love about other people or

what do I love about others and if love is too strong a word again use like and

if like is too strong a word use appreciate and if that's too strong

use could appreciate okay and then you just go for it now why does this make

you more confident and develop more self-esteem when you focus on what you

love about other people or appreciate or like about them what you start to notice

is that your barriers are coming down the fears going away because you

starting to not focus on aspects of them that you are afraid of or that you don't

like which is almost the same thing and but the action you start to focus on

things that you appreciate about them it gets you to focus on the connection you

have with other people and that actually builds self-esteem and confidence

because you see other people as partners as easier to deal with rather than as

frightening or scary or unpleasant to handle and this is just to do with what

aspects of them you focus on okay so it's as simple as that what do I love

about other people if you find it difficult say what could I love about

other people or like or appreciate and you will notice that it will make you

feel different it will make you more confident around people and will give

you more self-esteem just try it out if you don't believe me right now use these

four questions do one five-minute session on the first two one five-minute

session on the second the third and the fourth and see how you feel after 20

I promise you that if your confidence was at three out of ten beforehand your

level of self-esteem and confidence will have gone up in some way now for some

people this might be massive at that point and then you just need to repeat

and basically reinstate that state and it will stick with you for longer and

longer every time and for some people it will just incrementally go up and for

some people will go up really quickly because what you focus on you experience

and that's at the heart of this and with questions you get yourself to focus on

what you want to focus on so let's be smart about this what am i grateful for

what am I good at what do I love about myself what do I love about other people

that's it I hope you find this video incredibly useful and I hope you will

use it rather than just talk about it or think about it for a second and then

dismiss it because you think it's not going to work and the most important

thing if you want to start really making big changes in your life and you really

want to become more confident develop more self-esteem especially also when it

comes to attracting women and you want to feel good and confident around women

then do yourself a favor and go here to my six-week double your confidence

challenge give it a seven day trial it's free for seven days just try it out do a

little test drive okay and then figure out whether it has already helped you

enough that you are willing to go the whole way and for many people the first

week alone helps them massively so the link is here click here right now and

then I explained the program to you on my website a little bit more if you want

to get more information and then I'll see you inside

Stress & Anxiety - You Can Get Relief! - Duration: 10:20.

stress and anxiety these two negative factors in your life can really impact

your long-term I'm going to explain that today plus some ideas as to how you can

reduce them in your life so they don't have the impact high if we have not met

before my name is John Ruman and I'm an international business coach consultant

and corporate trainer with a passion for helping people to achieve life mastery

and helping people to lower the amount of stress as they have my life our and

is a major way that they can improve the way they feel and they experience life

in general think about it what is the main word for

illness and using the today dis-ease ease means well-being we're going to say

the opposite of stress in other words when the lot when the body is not in a

state of well-being it is in a state of stress and in a state of stress is what

they call illness so it's important that you understand that what we determine as

being sick the medical community calls a lack of well-being so that being said if

you can find ways to lower and reduce the amount of stress you have your life

you can therefore be help you help healthier and happier think about it

last time you went on a vacation did you feel healthy did you feel light did you

feel like your mind had less weight that your body may have had less aches and

pains that maybe you slept better that overall for the most part you

experienced a better time than you normally would you experienced ease not

dis-ease during that timeframe so let me give you some ideas of how you can

eliminate this so and real quickly why is it so bad to have long term stress it

is quite simply it creates cortisol cortisol creates inflammation

inflammation is the primary cause of many of the symptoms people have whether

it be arthritis whether it be nervous issues whether it be I mean over

if you ask a doctor if they can make a strong correlation between inflammation

and the symptomatic response people have which we call disease most doctors agree

that it's very simply a an inflammation issue more than anything so if you can

ask them what is the major cause of inflammation in the body they will tell

you cortisol so cortisol is caused when we experience a stress response let's

say we're cut off in traffic we have a fight with our spouse we have financial

issues we eat very frequently the regular eating by the way creates a

stress response creates a kurta rizal response in the system there's a myriad

of reasons that you experience just in life but the point is to understand that

you can make choices which will allow you to not have the impacts of stress so

that's what we're gonna talk about today so quite simply think about things you

can do that would lower the actual stress you have and I'd love to hear you

feedback here on the life of things that you actually could be doing today that

would make your experience of stress less I'll give you a couple ideas so for

example people if they get enough sleep if they go to bed at early enough time

they get eight to nine hours of sleep or seven and nine depending on the person

and then they that's one and then another is not eating with three hours

within three hours of going to bed now there is not eating more than two meals

a day within a fairly small space of time and again these things are not

immediate but they they can and do happen

another is daily exercise that's a again not crazy exercise but exercise to a

certain extent does lower stress response another thing would be not

having blue light past a certain time in the evening because that does tell your

body that daylight and it tells it stay up stay up

stay up when it should be going to sleep and so on and so forth so these are the

handful of examples of stresses that your body gets on a regular consistent

basis and once you understand that you have the ability to overcome pretty much

all of them and then it puts you in a much more empowered state and once you

begin making the shifts that make it so that you don't have the experience of

the stress from these causes then you'll actually feel different quite

immediately which is pretty cool and what I would encourage you to do is to

improve your diet you know that that's why I diet is so important that's why

the amount you eat or the number of times you eat sorry

that's why sugar is so bad because sugar crusade creates a really strong insulin

and therefore cortisol response that's why if you plan a little more ahead for

example let's say of meetings and you're chronically late and you're stressed out

you're driving fast to get there that's why if you change it up so that you're

15 20 minutes early every time and that therefore if there is a delay I'm in

Trinidad and those watching at Trinidad well understand that surprises that have

no particular reason why we're late come up all the time there's a lot of traffic

issues and it's tough for us to find out what's happening but it enables us to it

enables us to experience life in a high-traffic area without the stresses

that could normally come on with it so anyway so leaving early and then giving

yourself tasks to do so that when you reach on a timely basis you're still not

losing productivity but you are able to

have the success you're looking to have without kind of screwing things up and

it's wonderful there's nothing better than kind of chillin ten to 15 minutes

before the meeting getting ready making a quick phone call

or to whatever you got to do and it is amazing once you make that shift how

life is so much better it literally will feel like you've gone on vacation versus

a stressful hectic life simply by adjusting the time that you leave to

reach 15 or 20 minutes early I actually because traffic and can make

me 20 minutes late I usually say 30 minutes before whatever I use Waze or

Google Maps but before they tell me it's time to go I'm well-prepared like the

everything is ready to go and then when it's time to go I leave 30 minutes

before and again if I hit traffic cool but I'm also never bored a vehicle is

never a waste of time so the traffic even if I was late not if I'm late for

the meeting because again half hour is usually sufficient but I listen to

audiobooks so when I'm in the car and in traffic

whatever audiobooks so I'm constantly learning and then I feel like I'm hungry

and starving for this material and then while if I'm not in the mood to actually

do that I will call I have a list of people in my car at any one time with

probably 15 to 20 names that I literally can rotate over the next two or three

weeks and usually not have time to talk to all of them because by the time you

talk to a couple of them you've you've reached your location and taking care of

what you need to take care of so now there are exercises that you can do that

will put your mind in this totally chill out kind of situation and those are

breathing techniques and if you're curious about those I'm actually going

to be teaching them in a one-hour Lunch and Learn session

27th of January it's a Sunday and actually having three sessions that Dame

having a women's self defense of confidence the morning the lunch time

I'm doing the Lunch and Learn and then for three hours in the afternoon I will

do the public speaking workshop and if you're a woman you can do all three

and there's discounts if you do more than one but if your guy you can do

lunch and learning and then you can do the public speaking as well but should

you be interested just let me know but it's in that hour I'm gonna give a lot

of valuable hi potent tools and you'll do you'll have time for two of them

we'll do two of them in the class that will allow you to be like holy cow what

a difference and you'll immediately feel the difference but these you can

actually use these are actual techniques that I'm not hard you literally write

them down you can ask me if you forget them maybe they'll give you a resource

online to help you if you need to but truly helpful resources to help you so

that when the stress has come up you can chill out if you find it so you can't

focus it'll help you focus if you're someone who cannot sleep it will be what

enables you to actually sleep which is in valuable so thank you again for your

time this tip this evening I'm doing this live at night I hope you have an

amazing rest your day I look forward to helping you eliminate the stresses you

have in your life so thank you again I appreciate the opportunity to serve

Stock Market for Beginners | How to Invest in Stocks 2019 - Duration: 14:26.

How do you get started investing?

How do you put your money to work without getting sucked into all the hype and scams?

By the end of this video, you'll have a crash course on investing in the stock market

and how to invest in stocks for 2019.

In fact, I'm using the same investing strategy I developed as a professional equity analyst

to reveal my three favorite stocks for next year.

We're talking stock market for beginners today on Let's Talk Money.

Beat debt.

Make Money.

Make your money work for you.

Creating the financial future you deserve.

Let's Talk Money.

Joseph Hogue with the Let's Talk Money channel here on YouTube.

I want to send a special shout out to everyone in the community, thank you for taking a little

of your time to be here today.

If you're not part of the community yet, just click that little red subscribe button.

It's free and you'll never miss an episode.

For this video, I want to take a step back from our usual videos on investing and that

analysis we do in individual investments.

Instead, this one is going to be more basic, a stock market for beginners video.

I'm going to give you everything you need to start investing in stocks from how to get

everything set up to how I research stocks for my own portfolio.

I'm also going to reveal my favorite 2019 stock picks so make sure you stick around

to see where I'm putting my money this next year.

Now getting started investing isn't something you just take fifty bucks out of your savings

and buy some shares of the hot stock.

Your investing plan is based on your life goals and your own personality around money,

that's not something you can get in 30 minutes watching CNBC .

But don't neglect this part of investing.

I know it's not as sexy as picking stocks and talking double-digit returns but give

me fifteen minutes and I'm going to show you how to make investing stress-free and

how to beat your goals.

We're going to start off with two questions every beginner investor needs to ask.

Two questions that are going to tell you a lot about yourself and how your personality

is going to fit with your investments.

Based off just those two questions, I'll show you two ways to get started investing

in the stock market.

I'll then give you a simple three-step process I use to pick stocks, something I developed

over a decade as an equity analyst and working in private wealth management.

I'll then apply that three-step process to the stock market and show you the three

stocks I think could produce the highest returns in 2019.

Now on to those two questions and these are going to seem vague and maybe even a little

unnecessary for some of you.

You want to jump in to picking stocks and getting that process for stock market research

but don't neglect these basics.

They're going to lay that foundation that will show you how to be a better investor,

a smarter investor, and protect you from all the bad investing decisions that destroy wealth.

Our first question here is, "Are you comfortable with risk and losing money?"

This might seem like an easy yes or no but really think about it from past experience.

What are some times when you've lost money maybe say from gambling or from investing?

This doesn't mean you have to be ok with losing money, that would be psychotic.

The question is, how much stress do you feel with the idea of losing money or risk?

Our second question is, "what kind of an investor do you think you might be?"

Do you want to be actively involved on a monthly basis picking stocks, reading the financial

statements, or do you just want a stress-free way to make your money work for you?

I'll be honest, I enjoy reading the markets, learning about different investments and taking

that active part in my planning.

Everyone's not like that.

There are a lot of people that either don't have time to devote to doing their own investing

or just don't want to be a part of it.

There's nothing wrong with that, nothing wrong with wanting a hands-off investing strategy.

You do you, make your money and let the market do its thing to make your returns.

Your answers to these two questions are going to determine whether you want to invest through

an online broker or a robo-advisor.

Now I'm going to go into each of these, show you the difference between the two, pros

and cons of each, and how to get started before we get into that process I use to pick stocks.

First though, I want to share a very important report I just finished, an inside look into

something I learned over nearly a decade working for money managers and the wealthy.

That Wall Street lies to you.

Wall Street found out decades ago that if it wanted to keep making money, good investment

advice just wasn't going to cut it.

Instead, it would have to become more like Las Vegas, entertaining investors and keeping

them gambling.

To do this, the entire investment industry has built itself around ten lies it tells

investors to keep them scared, to keep them glued to the news and to keep them losing

money.

This is one of the reasons I don't work for Wall Street banks anymore and why I can

put this in a free report I'm giving to the Let's Talk Money community here.

I'll be sharing a link to get your copy of that free report, the 10 Lies Wall Street

tells investors towards the end of the video.

But I want to get back to that idea of getting started investing and those two ways to invest,

through an online investing site or a robo-advisor.

Both of these are going to meet your financial goals, the only difference is how active you

want to be as an investor.

First we have the online sites like Ally Invest, ETrade and TD Ameritrade.

These websites give you all the access you need to buy stocks, bonds and anything else

that's going to help you grow your money.

You'll get all the stock research you need, financial calculators and a lot of them will

even provide some time with an advisor.

I like Ally Invest because it's not just an investing site but part of a bigger financial

company that includes a bank and lending.

That means you can have all your savings and investing in one place plus mortgage and car

loans at great rates.

It takes less than five minutes to set up an investing account.

I'll leave a link to a review of the site and how to get started in the video description

below.

On the other hand, if you answer those two investing questions and find out you just

don't want that investing stress.

If you just want to have your money working for you but don't want to pick stocks or

deal with the ups-and-downs of the stock market then you'd be better off using a robo-advisor.

Robo-advisors are just a computer doing what a financial advisor is going to charge you

thousands to do . Robo-advisors like WealthSimple and Betterment take your age and answers to

an investor questionnaire and then customize an investing plan that meets your financial

goals.

Since it's all done by a computer, the costs are a fraction of what an advisor would charge.

Some sites like WealthSimple even have advisors available to answer questions so it's really

the best of both worlds.

I'll leave a link to WealthSimple in the video description if you want to learn more

about that robo-advisor option.

So you're set up with an online investing site like Ally and ready to invest but what

stocks do you pick?

How do you find those stocks that are going to outperform and beat your goals?

I want to share the investing strategy I used while working for portfolio managers and private

wealth funds.

Understand that this isn't going to apply to you if you've got your money in that

robo-advisor.

Robo-advisors are going to put you in a group of funds depending on your plan and you won't

be investing in individual stocks.

This three-step process is the one 80% of equity analysts use on Wall Street.

It's a tested and proven way to find stocks that are going to outperform and a way to

position your money to take advantage of themes in the market.

The reason why this investing strategy works so well is because it doesn't depend on

picking individual stocks.

Instead of trying to pick winners from the 2,800 stocks on the New York Stock Exchange,

this process starts at a higher level with the sectors and industries that are going

to outperform.

It's called top-down investing, looking at the bigger picture and those broader themes

in the stock market before you try to pick stocks . And you don't have to be an economist

or a numbers nerd like me to do it.

We'll go into finding those big picture themes but what you're doing is narrowing

your list of stocks to the sectors that are going to benefit.

Instead of trying to find one stock out of 2,800 to invest, you're saying, "Ok, energy

stocks have some great advantages in this market what are the best two or three stocks

out of 100 companies?"

The best part about this strategy is that by finding these bigger themes, you don't

even have to be right on the best stocks.

Let's say you find that deregulation, energy demand and political risks are going to really

boost the energy sector over the next few years.

I'm going to show you how to find the best-of-breed companies in the sector next but honestly

with these big picture themes you could throw a dart and hit a winner.

By looking at these larger, powerful forces driving an entire sector, all the companies

within the sector are going to be boosted higher.

Picking a few of the best stocks will help squeeze out that extra return but it's going

to be hard to go wrong and impossible to lose money.

So looking for these broad market themes, you want to look for a few clues.

• How do the different sectors react to higher prices?

• Are interest rates increasing and how do sectors react to a stronger dollar?

• Are there international trade problems and what percentage of sales come from overseas

customers for the sectors?

• What are the demographics of the customers for a sector?

Are their customers better off or facing a weaker financial future?

• Is technology changing the sector or are their opportunities for change that might

increase profits?

Now you don't have to always be watching for these big picture investing themes.

Another advantage of this strategy is that these themes play out over years so all you

have to do is find a theme or two and then ride it for as long as you can.

Your stocks within those one or two sectors are going to benefit for years.

Once you've got your broad themes and sectors then you start looking within the sectors

to find those best of breed companies that really lead the way.

This is where you narrow your list to two or three stocks that are going to outperform.

The first place I go to compare companies is the Statement of Cash Flows.

This is by far the most important of the three financial statements because it shows that

cash generating power of the company.

Management loves to manipulate the income statement to make earnings look higher but

it's much harder to change actual cash flows so you get a pure view of the company's

performance.

You don't have to be a professional analyst to look at these financial statements.

Once you have a list of stocks within a sector from your bigger picture themes, there are

a few things you want to compare on the cash flow statement.

• First is to compare the growth in cash flow from operations.

This is how much cash generation from the business so the best place to look and what

you want to do is look at it over the last five years.

How much has cash flow increased over that longer period compared to other companies

in the sector.

• Another place to look here is the free cash flow and the change over that same period.

Free cash flow is that operational cash minus the spending the company did to keep the company

going so you get a feel for how much cash is actually available.

• On the cash flow statement, you can also look at how much the company is returning

to investors through a dividend or buying back its own shares.

You also want to look at whether it's paying back debt or borrowing money.

Comparing the cash flow statements of companies is going to help you narrow your list down

even further.

So you've found a few sectors that are really going to benefit from these broad themes,

that's step one.

Then you find the companies within those sectors that are able to generate cash for investors

at a faster pace and that are using cash responsibly.

Finally, you're going to be looking for catalysts or roadblocks to growth for each

company.

This means looking in the financial news, reading analyst reports and management presentations.

By this time in the process, maybe you're only looking at four to six companies in a

sector so this level of deep research won't take more than a couple of hours.

You've already got that big picture view of the sector, now you're looking for company-specific

plans that play into that view.

You're looking for companies that have a defined plan to take advantage of those big

trends and how they're going to do it.

Now I want to take these three steps and use them to highlight three stocks, why I think

these are the best stocks for 2019.

Understand that even if you're investing in these three stocks, they shouldn't be

your entire portfolio.

Use that stock market process above to find at least six or seven other names in a few

sectors.

This is going to spread your risk out to limit that downside and maximize your return.

My first 2019 stock is Wells Fargo, ticker WFC.

This was an easy one despite all the bad press the bank has gotten over the last couple of

years.

Few sectors have as much going for them as financials with deregulation and rising interest

rates that will drive profitability.

This is actually something we talked about in our Warren Buffett series because Buffett

has more of his money in banks than anything else right now, almost $40 billion.

Wells Fargo is the largest deposit gatherer in the country and a leader in the mortgage

market, meaning it's going to win big when those long-term rates head higher.

Return on assets has slumped to 1.1-times this year from 1.4 in 2013, leaving room for

stronger profitability on management's turnaround plan . Non-performing assets have shrunk for

four consecutive quarters and the bank has been able to grow deposits consistently.

I'll admit that it may take time to rebuild the company's reputation after the scandals

but Wells Fargo always had some of the highest marks for customer satisfaction among banks

and I think it can get there again.

Our next stock for 2019 is CVS Health, ticker CVS.

Now the company has seen its shares gradually melt 45% lower since July 2015 on weakness

in drug pricing and fears around competition but this is a company with a huge advantage

and some great drivers .

The Aetna merger will create a vertically-integrated health care company like no other, able to

control pricing and patients at every step in the process.

This idea started with that giant shift to an older population and growth in healthcare

spending.

Being able to control drug pricing and insurance could boost profits significantly and the

shares now trade for just 10.4-times trailing earnings.

Even if Amazon is able to carve out a share with its acquisition of PillPack, the market

is underestimating the healthcare market advantage controlled by nation's largest drug retailer.

My last 2019 stock pick, and I'm going to get sooo many comments from this, but General

Electric, ticker GE.

For nearly a decade, we've been under easy money but no growth so all companies have

been doing is buying back shares.

There's been no capital investment.

That's slowly changing with tax reform, stronger growth and the move from low rates.

Companies are going to be investing in new capital and that's going to benefit the

industrials and especially GE.

Now I know GE has been a dog for the last couple of years, shares are down 60% since

the 2016 high.

But management has made the tough decisions, selling off some assets and spinning off others.

Cash flow is protected and I don't think the market is giving the company credit for

it yet.

I think a solid turnaround in stock price could start in 2019 with even more gains over

the next five years.

That's a crash course on the stock market for beginners and some of the best stocks

for 2019.
