Waching daily Dec 3 2018

When you have non-practising

registration and you want to return to

teaching, before you can commence

teaching you must contact VIT and

apply to return. Before you do this

here's the question you need to ask

yourself: Will I be able to meet my

requirements before my return to

teaching period runs out? What is the

return to teaching period and what are

your requirements? Your return to

teaching period starts on the day your

application is approved and ends at least

12 months later on the nearest September 30.

The return to teaching period will

vary depending on when it begins. Say you

start your return to teaching period at

the start of the year in January. Go

forward 12 months past January the

following year and then go to the

nearest September 30. That's your return to

teaching period - approximately 20 months.

Or, say you tell VIT you're returning to teach

later in the year, around July. Go forward

12 months past July the following year

and then go to the nearest September 30.

That's your return to teaching period -

approximately 14 months. And what do you

need to have done in that time? You need

to have completed 20 days of teaching or

equivalent practice and 20 hours of

standards referenced PD which includes a

special needs component. So you need to

teach 20 days during your return to

teaching period. But to make the PD part

easier to achieve your 20 hours PD can

include anything you've done in the 12

months prior to returning. So let's recap:

when you want to return to teaching you

must contact VIT. Then you must be able

to meet your requirements during your

return to teaching period. If you don't

meet your requirements your registration

will expire. If you want to reapply for

registration you'll need to meet the

current requirements which are four

years of higher education study

including at least one year of a

teaching qualification.

So if you're ready to return to teaching

contact VIT and once your request is

processed you will receive your

returning to teach card in the mail.

Why should patients with diabetes have their eyes checked regularly? - Duration: 1:18.

Diabetes is a chronic disease,

and I like to think of it as one of those

dynamic chronic diseases because it's changing all the time.

What's important in terms of diabetes

for the eye care professionals, that includes myself

as well as the optometrist, is that we often will tend

to see the changes in the eyes first

that might signal there's something going on systemically.

Patients with diabetes should have an eye screen

at the time of diagnosis, and this should often

be done by an optometrist.

This is free, it's relatively painless,

and it makes good sense that an optometrist is doing it

because, if there are any issues,

they can triage them to an ophthalmologist

who specialises in retinal disease.

Patients should have them at baseline

and then two yearly from that.

Usually this is done by the optometrist

and if there is any changes that we're noticing

during this period of follow-up,

the frequency of the visits may increase.

Did you hear what Gary Neville said after Lucas Torreira's stunning goal for Arsenal? - Duration: 3:03.

Torreira sealed the match, making it 4-2 to the hosts, and pushed Arsenal ahead of their rivals in the Premier League table

Arsenal move up to fourth and above Tottenham on goal difference. Torreira's strike came from a wonderful flowing move as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slipped him through and he fired past Hugo Lloris

And former Manchester United forward and Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville got very excited by the goal

BBC sport pundit Bradley Allen described it as scintillating. "Arsenal didn't take their chances early in the first half but what we've got to admire is how clinical they've been in the second half," he said on BBC Radio London

"Lucas Torreira just buried that one.4-2! Scintillating from Arsenal." The 22-year-old signed from Sampdoria in the summer for around £27m and is going down a storm so far at the Emirates

After a slow start he looks like the key man in the midfield alongside Granit Xhaka

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno claimed Torreira was perfect. "Torreira is incredible," he said

"He's a fighter and he's so important for our game, for the whole defence. He produced another perfect game today

" Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has hailed his influence. "In terms of fighting spirit, Arsenal have needed a player like Torreira," he said

"With the old back four that I played with and during the Invincibles' era, we had players with anger who would fight for every ball

"Arsenal have been too glamorous in the past few years, and not dirty enough, but with Torreira, the dirt is coming back into the team

"He is not the most talented player, but he is like a dog on the pitch, he is a leader and sets an example

"He doesn't impress you physically, but you can feel his breath on your neck, and his foot in your calf because he is there all the time, and that is the kind of player you need in a team

"

Generosity is giving more than you can||DeepPhilosophy - Duration: 0:34.

Khalil Gibran says : "Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need." Nature teaches us about generosity in the easiest way possible.

The flowers never say NO to the bees and butterflies that come for their nectar. Even when the entire nectar is consumed, they are not perturbed.

They never boast like we humans do (I did this ;i did that), hence untouched even by the shadow of Pride. Their survival is taken care by the nature (God).

Note: Generosity doesn't mean mindless giving. It means giving without having any expectations. It is about utilising our capacity of giving (when we have the capacity to give more)
