Photoshop Tutorial: How to Transform a Photo into an Abstract Expressionist, Pop Art Portrait - Duration: 6:07.Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.
I'm going to show you a quick way to transform a photo of a face into an exciting portrait
that blends abstract expressionism, pop art and glitch art.
In addition, the method allows you to instantly replace your photo with another without having
to redo any of the effects.
I provided this bare metal texture that you can download, so you can follow along.
Its link is located in my video's description or project files below.
Open a photo of someone that you'd like to use for this project.
To place it into the bare metal texture file, press "v" to open your Move Tool and drag
it onto the tab of the bare metal texture.
Without releasing your mouse or pen, press and hold Shift as you drag the photo onto the image.
Holding Shift kept the photo centered over the texture.
To fit your photo onto the document, open your Transform Tool by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + T.
To see your Transform's entire bounding box, press Ctrl or Cmd + 0.
Go to a corner and when you see a diagonal, double-arrow, press and hold Alt or Option
+ Shift as you drag it in or out.
To reposition it, go inside the bounding box and drag your image.
Then, press Enter or Return.
We'll crop off the areas that extend beyond the edges by pressing
Ctrl or Cmd + A to select it and going to Image and Crop.
Deselect it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + D.
To fit the image back onto your canvas, press Ctrl or Cmd + 0.
We'll convert our photo into a Smart Object, so we can adjust the effects at any time,
as well as, replace the photo with another without having to redo any of the effects.
Click the icon at the top, right corner of the Layers panel and click "Convert to Smart Object".
Make a copy of it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + J.
Click the eyeball icon next to the copy to hide the layer
and make the original layer active.
Change its Blend Mode to "Color Burn".
Click the Adjustment Layer icon and click "Levels".
I'll drag the Input highlight level to 143 and the Output black level to 64.
Click the Adjustment layer icon again and this time, click "Vibrance".
Drag the Vibrance to 100 and I'll make the Saturation: 20.
Make Layer 1 active and go to Filter, Distort and Shear.
Go to the bottom anchor point and drag it to the right a bit.
Drag the top anchor point approximately this much.
Make the top layer visible and active.
Change its blend mode to Multiply.
Go to Filter, Distort and Wave.
Feel free to experiment with the settings.
For mine, I'll make the number of generators: 100...the Wavelength: 1 and 94...the Amplitude:
998 and 999...and the Scale: 1%.
The Type is "Sine" and the Undefined Areas is "Repeat Edge Pixels".
To quickly create a new portrait, double-click the Smart Object to open the source photo.
If you're using a version earlier than CC, go to File and Open. Then, find and click a
photo you'd like to replace the original one with and drag the photo onto the Smart Object's
original source photo.
If you're using version CC or later, go to File and Place Embedded.
Again, find and click a photo.
Then, click "Place".
If you're using a version earlier than CC, use your Transform Tool to resize the new photo.
On versions CC and later, the Transform Tool opened by default.
If you need more room, zoom out by pressing Ctrl or Cmd plus the minus key on your keyboard.
Then, resize and position the new photo to fit the document.
Close the tab of the Smart Object.
When this message pops up, just click "Yes" to save the changes.
This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.
Thanks for watching!

5 Ways-to Re-engage Your Curiosity - Duration: 2:37.This is Melanie Fine of Rocket Girls.com, where we help young women break science's
glass ceiling and rock it in their dream careers.
My best advice for young people interested in pursuing a career in the sciences is to
never lose your curiosity.
Because curiosity, once lost, is difficult to reinvigorate - difficult, but not impossible.
So, if you're curiosity's a little rusty, here are five ways to re-engage with it.
1.
Ask Questions Questions are not just the byproduct of a
curious mind, but also the root of curiosity.
Even if you're not curious, just the act of asking questions builds your curiosity muscle.
Ask questions about anything and everything.
When participating in a conversation, don't be thinking of how to interject or respond,
just listen to the person talking.
Reaching answers or diagnoses too quickly dampens the inquiry process.
2.
Read Read voraciously.
Read up on all kinds of subjects.
Read different periodicals.
Expand your world by reading periodicals you normally wouldn't read.
Consume this information either in print, digital or video/audio form.
The more you learn, the more you want to know.
It also makes you a far more interesting person to be around.
3.
Don't Judge When we judge people and situations, we reach
conclusions which cloud our experiences.
Watch what happens around you; experience it.
Don't judge it.
4.
Engage an Expert Engaging with an expert in her/his field can
give you a deeper experience into things you probably didn't even know existed.
Whether it's a nature walk or a trip to a museum, an expert can teach you how to look
at things in a whole new way.
5.
The fifth one I got from Aly Juma's blog, alyjuma.com (I don't know if I'm pronouncing
it correctly.).
I love this one.
He says to search for mysteries, rather than puzzles.
Why?
Because puzzles have answers, whereas mysteries are the great unknowns of life.
"A mystery never stops inviting inquiry and so it never stops being a source for curiosity,"
Aly Juma.
In other words, mysteries lead you to more questions.
Answers end the inquiry altogether.
Try one or all of these techniques to coax curiosity back into your life.
And be sure to comment to add any of your favorite curiosity-building techniques.

EU, don't stay stagnant with the success that you had! - Duration: 5:45.Hello, welcome at this new vlog of Belicons.
Nice that you are watching.
This week my blog and vlog are about dissatisfaction in the European Union.
It strikes me that there are two opposing views on the European Union.
Some people are very pleased with it.
They claim that there is peace for decades now because of it.
And since countries that also want to join the union need to reform before they can become
a member too, it brings a better state of justice in other countries too.
And thus it makes other countries more democratic too.
Other people aren't happy with the European Union at all.
They see all the rules that the union imposes on us without us having any influence on that.
They see that some countries have to pay a lot of money and others just receive a lot of money.
So according to them the European Union is actually very undemocratic.
This has made me think about how to bring these two sides together.
For the European Union will be there for quite some time but it isn't good when many people
are unhappy with it.
For this reason I think it's important to find a way to bridge the gap between proponents
and opponents of the European Union.
And I think that this will become possible when the proponents realize that they shouldn't
stay stagnant with the success that they have until now.
For indeed, it is now very different than about 150 years ago when European countries
wanted to expand their nations and could only for that reason only start a war.
In that era people had to fight to get an own governments.
Now we all live free countries and we don't have to worry that another country suddenly attacks us.
So the European Union indeed is a good initiative.
But even when something is successful at the start, it doesn't mean that it stays that way.
And the proponents need to realize that too.
The European Union isn't perfect.
The conflicts in Eastern-Ukraine and The Crimea came into existence because Ukraine and the
European Union became too close according to Putin.
So the European Union means peace within the union itself, but that doesn't mean that
the European Union cannot be a part of another war or cause another war.
It is also well-known that Greece became a part of the euro zone far too soon and because
of that they got into major problems that are still not resolved.
And also the Brexit referendum shows that the proponents shouldn't be too confident
about the future of this union.
This makes me think about the warehouse chain V&D, or Vroom en Dreesman.
This large warehouse chain got bankrupt a year ago and that was a big surprise to many.
But before the bankruptcy was final, many people already said that they didn't know
why they would buy something at these stores specifically.
But a long time ago this was very different.
My grandmother sometimes tells me the story about when she worked at a fashion house at
the end of the 1940s.
It wasn't going very well with the store and she saw that the V&D had sales that attracted
many customers in that way.
She told this to her boss and he let her create a table with sales too.
And that worked!
At that time the V&D was very progressive and an example to her.
I can imagine that former managers of the V&D stayed stagnant with the success they
had and forgot to stay progressive.
So being successful is a good thing, but being successful once doesn't mean that one will
stay successful.
One should always be alert not to become stagnant.
And that also counts for the European Union.
Even when it is a good thing in many ways, the people are getting more and more dissatisfied
and the European committee should do something about that before there will be many other
referenda in countries that also want to leave the European Union.
If proponents are going to realize this then there will be room to start to listen to one
and another and to make the European Union really democratic and transparent.
Then the inhabitants can become proud again to live in the European Union and really feel
that it adds to their lives.
But at the same time it is important that opponents of the European Union are open to
notice that the union is improving.
Sometimes people are so much against something that they are just angry and interpret everything
that happens negatively.
In that case the proponents can improve many things, but in the end it wouldn't help
when the opponents aren't open to see that things are improving.
And this brings me, just as in my blog, to the importance of taking into account both
facts and feelings.
The proponents have very positive feelings when they think about the European Union.
They believe so strongly in this project that they don't see the facts that there is a
lot of dissatisfaction and that not everything is working out perfectly.
But the opponents are so much against the union that they stay stagnant in their negative
feelings and don't see the positive sides of the European Union and won't notice any improvements.
So if we want to make a success out of the European Union and make the inhabitants satisfied
civilians, then proponents and opponents should first take both facts and feelings seriously.
These are my ideas.
Let me know what you think, on Belicons or on YouTube.
And don't forget to mention your arguments of course.
I'm really curious and I'll see you next week.
Bye!

Skype Counseling Therapy - Duration: 4:47.If you're struggling with depression or
with anxiety or panic attacks or if
you're struggling with an addiction then
you might consider Skype counseling
therapy. I provide this service to help
people overcome emotional habits such as
anxiety and depression or intrusive
thoughts or an addiction, and it
was very well online.
You do not need to be in the same room
with a therapist to benefit from the
services, but you do need to see each
other, and of course that is the great
benefit of Skype therapy. Skype allows
you to make a video call and is a free
service and through that video format
you can get the same quality of
communication that you would have seeing
a therapist in person, so I've been
offering Skype counseling therapy for
well over five to ten years now, actually
in North America and to many
people in Western Europe and as far
away as Australia. Skype counseling
therapy is very effective indeed
when it's combined with mindfulness
which is my specialty. I teach
mindfulness therapy and mindfulness
meditation for working with difficult
emotions such as anxiety depression and
addiction. The principal focus of
mindfulness therapy is learning how to
break the habit of becoming identified
with thoughts and emotions.
We learn how to develop independence
from thoughts and emotions and break the
habit of becoming overwhelmed by these
structures of mind. This is a very
important part of mindfulness therapy -
learning to cultivate balance in
relationship to your emotions, to your
thoughts, and to your memories, too. When
you have established this independence
and balance then you can begin to
investigate and change the underlying
structure of the emotion itself. An
emotion is structured primarily in
imagery, it's how you see the emotion in
the mind that gives it its power. The
imagery of the emotion is what gives
the emotion its power. If the imagery is
very large then the emotion will be very
powerful; if the the way you see the
emotion is as a
very small image then the emotion will
have much less effect; if it's very close
it will be very intense; if you see the
image far away but it will have less
intensity. So there is very much to be
learned by looking at the imagery of the
emotions and when you learn to see this
imagery you can change it. When you
change the imagery you change the
emotion. You can make it smaller and have
less intensity. So, if you'd like to learn
more about working with emotions, working
with emotional imagery using mindfulness,
then please contact me through my
website. Send me an email and we can
schedule a trial Skype counseling
session in which you'll see for yourself
just how effective this approach can be
for overcoming anxiety and depression
and other forms of habitual emotional
suffering.
Thank you!

Pipe Cleaner Crafts - Star Wand - Duration: 2:58.Take one pipe cleaner and fold in half
Then fold it in half again
Fold one-third of the length.
Fold another one-third on the other side.
Open up the folds. The points will be our fold guide.
Bend out and in alternatively to form the star.
Take the ends and twist together to close the star.
Arrange the points until you get the right pattern.
Fill in the gap by weaving more pipe cleaners into it.
Fill in the outer sides first then moving inwards..
Just get the pipe cleaner go in and out into the gaps.
You can just fill the gaps randomly.
Do this until the gaps are mostly filled up.
Keep on adding more pipe cleaners to fill the gap.
Just take the pipe cleaner through the gaps and out.
It is like sewing through the gaps.
Get two pipe cleaners and twist them together then fold.
Push the ends through a gap at the bottom.
Twist it to hold them together and to make the handle.

☆ Eli Ayase Seven Lucky Gods ☆ RoleCosplay Review - Duration: 2:18.Hello~!
Today I will be reviewing a costume from RoleCosplay, which in an online store that sells
costumes, wigs and accessories for your cosplay.
The cosplay I got from them is from the game "Love Live!" and its Eli Ayase's Seven Lucky Gods
which is one of my favorites from the whole game.
And, if you're thinking about buying from them, you should use my discount code.
When you order this costume, it will come with
her tabi socks
this white piece
an obi, with a bow
this yellow piece of fabric
the yukata~!
All the information and links will be listed in the description below
as well as a written version of this review and my coupon code~!
Starting off with the main part, the yukata is made out of polyester
and the print is very good
It is fully lined with white lining fabric and has four satin ribbons on the sides
so that it stays closed, but also helps you know which side of it goes on top.
And be aware that because of its fabric, this yukata is very very warm.
You also get an obi and a bow.
The obi is very thick and holds its shape very well. It also closes down with velcro.
The bow is a separate piece from the obi and you can attach it to the obi
with a safety pin that comes with the bow.
There is no actual place to attach it, so you can choose where you want it.
This white accessory mimics the undergarment that is traditionally used with japanese clothing
and its very small, since this is a cosplay and this is the only part of it that will be showing.
It has velcro so its easy to put on and take off.
The yellow piece of fabric goes all around your waist and it peeks through the top of the obi a little bit.
The tabi socks are just like any other sock
except they have a division between your big toe and the rest of your toes.
And that's it for the review~!
I hope you enjoyed it, and don't forget to check RoleCosplay out through the link in the description! That helps me a lot~
Thank you~!!
