Waching daily Jan 3 2017

Did we lose ourselves along the way?

Will it ever be the same?

Springtime air, tomorrow never comes

We hide our eyes from the setting sun

If I cry will I find the good old days?

Oh I'd kill for another day with you

Oh my love, you would say

"I'm never leaving you"

But those days

faded into mist

Summer mist, do you remember me?

We lost the way our lives used to be

But for now I'll smile back the tears

Begging God

If only you were here

Melting snow

Hold me close

If I cry will I find the good old days?

Oh I'd kill for another day with you

Oh my love, you would say

"I'm never leaving you"

But those days

Oh those days

faded into--

:D

Did you know it is legal for the government to steal? - Duration: 3:47.

- Did you know that it's legal for the government to steal?

That's the simplest description of an actual law known as

Civil Asset Forfeiture.

It lets prosecutors take permanent ownership

of a person's property without having to charge them

with let alone convict them of a crime.

Now we live in a system where people are theoretically

presumed innocent until they're proven guilty,

but this process allows the government to treat

your property differently, often assuming it is guilty

until you can prove it innocent

of being connected to a crime.

This awkward arrangement means that the state isn't

prosecuting you, but your stuff.

It leads to court cases like the State of Utah versus $500

or the State of Utah versus a 2007 Black Mazda.

Around the country, forfeitures become so lucrative

for government agencies that, according to

the Washington Post, prosecutors now take more property

from people than burglars do.

Focusing on the property rather than the person

creates a perverse incentive for prosecutors,

rather than focusing on building evidence of a crime

and punishing the perpetrator, prosecutors and police

become motivated by money.

- [23rd Agent] Are there any large sums of money

over $5,000 in cash in the vehicle?

- [Policeman] How much money you got?

- [Policeman] Any large amounts of U.S. currency in there?

- I'll take whatever cash you got in there

and is that a Slurpee in the cup holder, what flavor?

Grape, nevermind.

Do you know what?

I will take it, I'll take it.

(audience laughs)

In many cases, no criminal charges are filed

against the property owner at all.

When they are filed, prosecutors often agree

to drop the criminal charges if the person

allows the government to keep the seized property.

That's not justice, it's corruption.

Libertas Institute has been fighting civil asset forfeiture

in Utah for several years, starting with our investigative

report in 2013 showing that the Attorney General's office

deceived the entire legislature into passing a law

that undermined property rights and due process,

thereby making it easier for prosecutors

to forfeit property.

Since that time, police and prosecutors have teamed up

to fight our reform effort and preserve the status quo.

Two years ago we proposed a change in the law

requiring the government to furnish detailed information

about each forfeiture.

That proposal became law and earlier this year we gained

our first glimpse of how forfeiture is working in Utah.

The results are, perhaps, unsurprising,

though certainly alarming.

98% of forfeitures were for alleged drug offenses,

almost every single one

and 86% of the property taken was cash.

The average amount was just above $1300.

Now imagine if you had a thousand dollars taken

by the government due to its belief that

you were gonna buy drugs even though you weren't.

Would you pay a lawyer five thousand dollars to fight

the forfeiture in hopes of reclaiming only one thousand?

Clearly not.

This explains why most forfeitures in Utah

are not contested, most people simply walk away

and let the government keep the property.

Crime shouldn't pay, it's true, but there's another type

of forfeiture, criminal forfeiture, which lets

the government take property from convicted criminals.

Those who are presumed innocent should not have

their property permanently taken by the government

until they're proven guilty.

- Rough night, huh?

Ah, well, it's about to get a lot rougher.

That's 2500 in cash and you want it hanging out

in somebody's glove box, huh?

Answer me.

- Civil Asset Forfeiture needs to be reformed in Utah.

Unfortunately, our tax dollars are funding those

who are fighting against that reform.

The Attorney General's office,

police chiefs, sheriffs, county prosecutors, and more.

Innocent until proven guilty, it's a bedrock American

principle, one that Civil Asset Forfeiture violates.

It's time to put a stop to legalized theft.

For Libertas Institute, I'm Connor Boyack.

(upbeat tune)

How To Be Happy Step 2 - Duration: 1:56.

Hi, my name's Rocky Detwiler and today we're

going to talk to you about the second

step in a mini-series on how to be happy.

Yesterday we talked about just being

still and being quiet. Today, I'm going to

talk to you about journaling. And these

three things I'm giving to you are

absolute winners on how to create

happiness in your life, okay? So, how to be happy.

So, yesterday was quiet, today's about

journaling. Now, we created this journal because

I couldn't find one anywhere on Amazon at

the time. It's just a grateful journal.

And what you're going to do is when you

open it up, you're gonna put the date in

there, you're gonna also put in there, so

you can see my face right because you

got this,

so you're going to put three things you're

grateful for. You're gonna list three things,

okay? And, as you flip the page, tomorrow

it's going to be three new things you're

grateful for.

So you're gonna put the date, and you're

gonna put three things that I'm grateful for.

Like the first time I did this I was

like happy I had a soft pillow, I had a

a roof over my head, something simple

I want you start with something simple.

Three things you're grateful for, and

then I want you to write two sentences

on things you can remember that

you did today that we're good

things, that were memorable things, okay? So

tomorrow you're gonna come back and you're

do the same exact thing. Date, and then three

things you're grateful for, one, two, three,

and then two sentences. And as you

start to activate what you're

grateful for, and two things you can

write about in your life that you can

remember like a year from now, you will

start to see, not only are you going to

become more grateful, but you're going to

be a happier person, okay? And come back

tomorrow because I have the third step

in the mini-series that just is a winner.

This thing is rock-solid, I'm giving you

just like gold, alright? I'm excited to see

you, come back tomorrow, and it'll be

fresh and exciting, alright?

I'll talk to you soon.

2017 Discbound BuJo Setup Part 1 - Project Notebook - Duration: 10:40.

Hello guys!

This is Nicole, from @nicoles.journal.

In today's video I'm going to show you my Bullet Journal setup for 2017.

This is going to be a 2 part video, because I didn't want to make the video too long.

The first part is going to be my Junior size notebook and the second part is going to be

the setup for my Mini size notebook.

My covers are from Jane's Agenda and the discs are from Circa and The Happy Planner.

The inner cover of my notebook is the Ice Cream dashboard from my store.

It protrects the first section of the notebook that has some doodles for inspiration, header

ideas for my BuJo, some font ideas and other decorative elements.

I keep them here so they are easily accessible for when I am creating a spread and I need

some inspiration.

Then, I have some tabs from Jane's Agenda that I use to section out my notebook into

different months.

This way I always know when I months start in the notebook.

They are available in different colors and the are also removable so I can use them multiple

times.

They come in a loose sheet, so I hole punched it to have it in my notebook.

These are my printable monthly tracker stickers, printed on sticker paper ready to be used.

I also have my daily time trackers.

I know a lot of you want to know how to use them, so I'll be making a video about it soon.

Basically, it works like a clock and I use it to track the time that I spend doing different

activities during my day.

If you go to Etsy, you'll see I have a mini tutorial in the last picture of the listing.

So you can check that out in the mean time if you want to see how it works.

I printed a bunch of these so I have enough for a few months.

The second divider is also from my store.

In this section I have the printed workbook I bought from Alexis or Misstrenchcoat about

SMART goal setting and how to execute your goals.

This workbook helped me a lot to plan my goals for the next few years.

I have it in here for future reference and, basically, all the goal setting that you'll see in this notebook and the other notebook will be based on what she said in the workbook.

The third divider is where I am going to plan my months

and to track and journal about my weeks.

This 2017 calendar is one of the free printables I am giving you guys in this video.

To download it, click the link the description box and it will take you to the Dropbox folder

where I uploaded it along with the rest of the free printables that'll be showing in this video.

This is how I setup my goals for 2017.

I divded them into Internal goals and External goals like Alexis recommends.

In my internal goals I have 2 personal projects.

In my External goals I have 1 Community project and 4 Career projects.

These are also specific classifications she talks about in the workbook.

This might seem like a small amount of goals for a whole year, but I did this on purpose

so that I don't plan too many things in advance and not hinder my ability to take on any projects

that come up.

She also recommends to classify each goal into 3 categories: projects, routines and bucket

list goals.

At the moment, I don't have any bucket list goal, but the goals on the top are the projects

I definitely want to accomplish this year and the bottom are the routines I want to

incorporate into my daily schedule.

For my projects, I assigned a time frame in which I want to work on and complete them.

Making this timechart helped me to easily visualize, how many projects I have going

on at the same time, so that I don't over-commit during these specific time frames.

Using two of her worksheets: The Project Planning worksheet and the SMART goal worksheet, and

taking the list of goals that I wrote before, I wrote down specific details for each goal

to help me define what I had to do to accomplish it.

Information such as what the goal is about, when I wanted to start working on it and the

deadline, how I'm working on it or what actions steps I should take, and so on.

My first personal goal is related to my boyfriend and I, so I left it blank because we're setting

it up after the new year starts, but you can see an example of how I used the sheets with

my Fitness Diary project.

Next year I want to start a fitness diary to record how my body changes as I train and

become stronger and healthier.

Besides the weight training and pole fitness training I'm doing, I will also start a new

diet so I am hoping to see big changes in my body and well being in general.

Some of the specific information Alexis recommends to write are the resources you need and have,

and the action steps you need to execute to work towards completing your goal.

Since my fitness diary is going to be a small monthly project, I'll have to repeat the same

action steps every month of the year, so I wrote them down here in a list to have them together.

I will also rate the month with a 5 stars system, so I broke down how many stars I'm

giving myself for my performance in terms of my diet (2), the training itself (2) and how well

I keep up with taking my supplements (1).

I did the same process with some of the other goals.

The ones that I did not cover in my notebook are in my Evernote notebook because I felt

they were easier to track and plan with a digital notebook and apps.

As an example, one of the goals I have is to complete an app I am designing with my

sister.

So, in order to be able to easily share the information I have with her, I make digital

notes and share them.

The next section of my journal has my monthly plans and weekly layouts.

I created these beautiful coloring pages to use them as my month covers.

If you follow me on instagram you probably saw this one I colored on Christmas day.

These calendars are available on my Etsy store.

There's two versions of them: one with a BuJo style calendar on the back and another with

a classic calendar and a notes page at the end of the month, so you can choose the design

that works best for you.

They are undated, so you can start planning on them whenever you want throughout the year.

I'm using the BuJo style for January, and I'll keep you updated if I change to the other layout for other months.

Since I'll be doing monthly plan with me videos

I'll keep you updated on how anything changes in my notebook

For the first months of the year, I am going to

be using this simple 1 page setup.

I decided to do this because I know I have more things going on during these months and

I want to focus on working towards completing the goals I set for myself.

I have a monthly tracker where I plan to keep track of when I upload Youtube videos and

when I post on Instagram. I want to upload every Friday and post on Instagram pretty much every other day.

The next part is my Projects Master List for the month.

First I decided what videos I want to record and here I left 2 spots open because I want

you to tell me what videos you'd like me to create.

I want to make sure I'm giving you guys the content you want too.

A big announcement that I wanted to make is that I will go back to making Patreon content

next month.

Patreon is a platform that allows artists to share content with their followers and

receive a small support from them every month.

This way, followers help the artist create content on a regular basis.

The way my Patreon works right now is that you get whatever artistic content I was going

to create for Etsy at a lower price.

For example, the calendars are listed at $8 on Etsy, but they are part of the $3 reward on Patreon.

If this sounds interesting to you, definitely go check it out.

The final section is for 'the future'.

Basically, this is a space where I plan to write down anything that comes up such as

an idea or a project that I might want to consider to do or be part of in the future.

Now here is my weekly setup.

It's similar to I had done before with a weekly header, a list of the 5 projects I want to

work on and the top 3 tasks I accomplished each day.

Something new I added to it was a time log.

In this time log I will track how much time I am investing into the different projects

I set out to complete this month.

I also have a gratitude section and, similar to my Fitness Diary, I'm going to rate the

week considering how productive I was and how I felt during the week.

On the back I just have a blank page to journal about my week.

That's pretty much the whole setup

The rest of the notebook are blank pages and some coloring calendars I printed in advance.

This is everything for today's video.

If you liked it, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel.

Remember to let me know what videos you'd like me to record this new year,

and also remember to go checkout the second video for my setup when upload it

Thanks for watching and I will see you next time!

Donald Trump rooster statue takes China by storm - Duration: 2:27.

Donald Trump rooster statue takes China by storm.

By Serena Dong.

What do you get when you cross the year of the rooster with the year of Trump?

A "yuge" statue.

A giant rooster sculpture, sporting the President-elect's signature hairdo and hand gestures, has been

erected outside a shopping mall in Taiyuan, in China's northern Shanxi Province.

The sculpture was commissioned by the company that owns the mall and will be its mascot,

Cao Mingliang, the deputy director of planning department from N1 ArtWalk Mall, told CNN.

A giant rooster figure, sporting a Donald Trump hairstyle, has popped up outside a shopping

mall in downtown Taiyuan, north China's Shanxi Province.

Cao said a series of products and smaller replicas will be available for sale in the

future, though some are already being sold on Taobao, the Chinese e-commerce giant owned

by Alibaba.

Wei Qing, whose Shenghe Yangtai Business is selling replica roosters, told CNN he thought

sculpture was hilarious.

"I think the rooster is very cute and funny, the hairstyle and eyebrows look very much

like Donald Trump.

I'm sure it will attract a lot of customers," he said.

At least four stores are selling the Trump rooster, with prices starting from $57 to

a whopping $1,739 for a statue that's 32 feet tall.

This isn't even the first avian doppleganger Trump has had in China this year.

State-run People's Daily tweeted out an image of a bird sporting a similar hairdo to the

President-elect last month

Trump-related products and gag gifts have proliferated since the real estate mogul announced

his candidacy for president.

The most iconic -- the "Make America Great Again" hat -- would eventually go on sale

on the Trump campaign website.

Serena Dong and Christy Chen reported from Beijing and Joshua Berlinger wrote from Hong

Kong

You can't do that! Watch me! - Duration: 5:50.

You can't do that!

I've heard that line more times than I can count

from kids on the playground and adults who thought they were protecting me.

When people see me for the first time

they tend to view me through the lens of their assumptions

of what it means to be a woman with a disability.

They see me in the terms of limitation,

of all the things they assume I can't do.

They simply cannot imagine living without hands or arms.

Yet life without arms is my reality.

I don't know how to live any other way.

In fact I never thought of myself as different

neither did my family.

The only time I felt different was what I was put

it out as different when I was in public.

Fortunately I was blessed to be the child of "can do" parents.

Growing up they fostered a drive within me to overcome

physical challenges through creativity and adaptation.

While I've gained some

physical and technical skills that most

other people never do, like becoming a black belt in Taekwondo.

Other tasks that might seem simple like getting dressed independently

took years of trial and error to master.

Despite many frustrations and setbacks along the way,

I've learned to banish the words "I can't."

Physical challenges aside, my greatest

difficulties in life have been the

emotional and social implications of being different.

As a child, the isolation of being the only kid without arms and

the stairs, negative comments, and

low expectations of others made me feel like

I was less of a person.

My parents had an instrumental role in this part.

My dad always has this confidence that

he carried himself with and it shaped my

reactions to the public.

With every awkward encounter where someone was

curious about my difference,

my dad would take it as an opportunity

to have a positive experience meeting

someone or interacting with them.

This had a profound effect on me.

It sent me the message, ultimately it is

in my control how I let people's reactions affect me.

I could either choose to be negatively affected and

offended or compassionate and understand that

naturally people are going to be curious in the

same way that I would be if I saw

someone without legs or who was different.

The quest of overcoming these

challenges drove me throughout my

childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood.

The slow buildup of small

achievements and the love, support, and

mentorship of family, teachers, and

friends allowed me to finally feel like a

whole person by the time I finished college.

My unrepentant self-respect and

self-acceptance is my greatest triumph

and has given me the power to insist that

society accept me as I am.

It also led me to take on my greatest fear: flying.

Over the 11 years of my

career speaking all over America and in

20 other countries, the story of learning

to fly remains my most powerful example

of what is possible when a person says, "I can."

Trips abroad especially in

developing countries also taught me a

hard truth: many people with disabilities

in low-income countries never get the

opportunity to rise above those who say, "You can't."

People with disabilities are

denied access to education, job

opportunities, and even basic healthcare.

Some people with disabilities, like a

woman born without arms I met in Ghana,

are told they should have been killed at birth.

I was at a loss for what to do about the

situation until 2013 when i was invited

to travel to Ethiopia with Handicap

International to see the organization's

inclusive education programs. In a

country where only three percent of

children with disabilities go to school,

H.I. was working to enroll and support

hundreds of children with disabilities.

By educating parents, teachers, and school

administrators about their rights and

making sure that schools are accessible

and have trained teachers and

appropriate resources, children who have

never gone to school are finally getting an education.

Children with disabilities who had been taught

that they were worthless and had been kept hidden at

home told me how their lives had changed

since going to school.

The power of the change in society's

attitude allowed the students to envision

a future of "I can,"

having friends, going to university,

getting a job, and even having a family of their own.

After that trip H.I. asked

my husband Patrick and I to become

Goodwill Ambassadors. Our mission is to

advocate for the rights of people with

disabilities and show the world that

people with disabilities can accomplish

when they have access to their rights.

If you want more information about H.I.,

check out their website. I think they're

great organization to support as they

help millions of people with

disabilities around the world.

In my announcement video, I gave away a free

combo pack of my book Disarm Your Limits

and a deluxe DVD of Right Footed to one

lucky winner and I'm going to pick

another random winner again this week to

keep celebrating the launch of this vlog.

So if you want a chance to get a copy,

all you have to do is make sure you're

watching on YouTube, like this video,

tap that subscribe button and leave a

comment down below. And if you want to

order your own copies, there are links

down in the description. I also have

another challenge for you. Last time I

asked you to try writing your name using

just your feet this week I'd like to see

you try to open up a piece of candy with

your toes, like a Tootsie Roll. Post some

proof down in the comments and I'll

share my favorites on my Facebook page.

I would love to hear your feedback,

questions, and episode ideas down in the

comments. Don't forget to share with

someone who could use a little

motivation. After all, if I can fly an

airplane without arms,

what is it that you can do?
