A 15 STUDENT IN NORTH CAROLINA ALLEGEDLY SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AFTER

A SCHOOL COPS LATER TO THE GROUND THAT THE STORIES DEVELOPING

AND I WANT TO BE CLEAR THAT THE MOMENT, WE ARE UNSURE OF

EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED PRIOR TO THE GIRL GETTING SLAMMED

BUT THE EIGHT SECOND VIDEO OF COURSE WHEN VIRAL ONLINE.

WE DO HAVE IT FOR YOU DIET IS DIFFICULT TO WATCH, BUT I'M

GOING TO SHOW IT TO YOU AND THEN GIVE YOU A FEW DETAILS WE

DO HAVE.

TAKE A LOOK.

SO THE 15 STUDIO STUDENT WAS JUST IN DARWIN AND SHE

SUFFERED A CUSTOM CONCUSSION.

SHE WAS TAKEN TO HOSPITAL AFTER THE INCIDENT.

WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR IS THAT SOME SORT OF FIGHT BROKE OUT AND

JASMINE SISTER WAS INVOLVED AT THAT POINT JASMINE

ALLEGEDLY RAN OVER TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AT THAT POINT AND THAT'S WHEN

THE COPS LATER TO THE GROUND THOUGHT THE SCHOOL RESEARCH

OFFICER, RUBEN TAYLOR SANTOS HAS BEEN PLACED ON PAID

ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE PENDING THE OUTCOME OF AN INVESTIGATION.

ONE THING TO KEEP IN MIND IS THAT THERE IS NO

STANDARDIZED TRAINING PROGRAM OR MANUAL FOR THE STATE SCHOOL

RECESS RESOURCE OFFICERS.

TRAINING COURSE OFFERED TO THE NORTH CAROLINA JUSTICE ACADEMY,

BUT NOT EVERY SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND

IT AND THAT IS ACCORDING TO MICHELLE ARCHER WHO IS THE NORTH

CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS PRESIDENT.

THIS IS WHAT WE ARE WITH US FOR.

WE ASKED FOR A LITTLE BIT OF RESTRAINT TO BE A LITTLE

BIT CAREFUL.

SHE IS 100 POUNDS.

I NEVER WANT TO MINIMIZE THE FRUSTRATION THAT COPS OR

SECURITY IS UNDER, HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO SEPARATE 215 WORLD

GIRLS WHO ARE HAVING A FIGHT?

IN THIS CASE WE DON'T KNOW FOR SURE

THAT JUSTIN WAS EVEN IN THE FIGHT, BUT I GET IT.

THAT'S A SITUATION THAT WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL, I SAW

TEACHERS TRYING TO SEPARATE PEOPLE DIET IS NOT EASY.

THAT COP LOOKS TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY ABOVE 100 POUNDS

AND WHEN YOU HAVE 100 POUND GIRL, BE CAREFUL ABOUT SLAMMING

HER DOWN BECAUSE THE MOM IS RIGHT.

NOT ONLY DOES SHE HAVE A CONCUSSION, SHE COULD HAVE DIED.

THAT'S WHERE ASKING YOU TO BE CAREFUL.

TOO OFTEN, IT APPEARS LIKE PEOPLE ARE NOT THAT CAREFUL

BECAUSE IT IS NOT THAT IMPORTANT TO THEM.

IT'S AN EIGHT SECOND VIDEO.

LET'S LET THEM DO THAT INVESTIGATION AND MAYBE THE

GUY, IF YOU LOOK AT HIS WHOLE RECORD, IT WAS A MOMENTARY

LAPSE AND HE IS OVERALL GOOD COP.

I DON'T KNOW, WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HIM.

OR IF YOU FIND AS RECORD IS HE DOES THIS FAIRLY REGULARLY,

THEN THAT IS A HUGE CAUSE FOR CONCERN.

THE ONLY DETAIL THAT I HAVE LEARNED ABOUT HIM THE REPORTS IS

THAT HE HAS BEEN WORKING AS A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER FOR FOUR

YEARS, AND THAT IS A DAUGHTER KNOW WHAT HIS RECORD IS I DON'T

KNOW IF THERE HAS BEEN ANY ALLEGATIONS AGAINST HIM IN THE

PAST, I JUST THINK BASED ON WHAT WE KNOW, HE COULD HAVE

PREVENTED THAT TYPE OF FORCE.

YOU ARE RIGHT, SHE IS 100 POUNDS, SHE IS A LOT SMALLER.

YOU ARE A COP.

YOU JUST BREAK THEM UP.

I AM NOT SAYING IT'S THE EASIEST THING IN THE WORLD.

IF I SAW TWO GIRLS FIGHTING OR HOWEVER MANY GIRLS

FIGHTING, IT'S NOT BREAK THEM UP, IT IS GOING TO BE A

LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT THAN THAT I UNDERSTAND THAT BUT I

FEEL LIKE IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER TO RESTRAIN THEM OR

MORE EFFECTIVE TO RESTRAIN THEM THEN SOMEBODY SLAM A STUDENT

ONTO THE FLOOR TO THE POINT WHERE THEY COULD POSSIBLY DIE.

AGAIN, SHE SUFFERED A CONCUSSION.

THAT IS SERIOUS.

WHO KNOWS WHAT HIS RECORD IS, WHAT HE'S DONE, MAYBE HE'S

NOT ALWAYS BAD GUY.

YOU ARE RIGHT.

WE'VE ALL SEEN FIGHTS IN HIGH SCHOOL.

THEY DON'T CHECK THE RECORD OF THE KID WHO IS IN THE FIGHT

AND SAY HOW MANY TIMES HAS HE DONE THIS DIET THIS WAS HER

FIRST BUYER WHO KNOWS, AGAIN, WE DON'T KNOW WHERE THE FIGHT

SHE WAS INVOLVED.

THEY DON'T GO WELL, IT WAS ONLY HER SECOND FIGHT AND SHE'S

A SOPHOMORE NOW SO WHEN A YEAR IS OKAY.

OFF THE HOOK.

THERE IS NO LENIENCY.

THERE'S NO CHANCES.

WHATEVER PUNISHMENT, I'M NOT SAYING HE SHOULD BE FIRED OR

NEVER BE A POLICE OFFICER AGAIN, BUT HE SHOULD GET WHATEVER FULL

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY AND EVERYONE HAS THEIR JOBS AND

THE RESPONSIBILITIES.

YOU HAD TO PAY FOR WHATEVER YOU DO WHEN YOU DO A WRONG.

I JUST THINK THE TRAINING THING IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM.

REALLY, THERE'S NO STANDARDIZED TRAINING FOR SCHOOL

RESOURCE OFFICERS?

LET'S MILITARIZE THE POLICE FORCE, LET'S MILITARIZE

SCHOOL CAMPUSES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

BY THE WAY, YEAH, THERE WERE A TON OF FIGHTS WHEN I WAS IN

HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL.

YOU KNOW WHAT?

IN THE VAST MAJORITY OF CASES WE DIDN'T HAVE CAMPUS POLICE

ARE YOU KNOW WHO BROKE UP THE FIGHT?

TEACHERS.

ADMINISTRATORS DINE YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DID?

PICK THEM UP.

THERE WAS NOBODY SLAMMING.

THERE WERE NO CHOKE HOLDS.

+2 THINGS HERE.

WE ALL SURVIVE THAT ERA SO IT IS POSSIBLE TO SURVIVE IT

WITHOUT COPS OR SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS SWARMING THE CAMPUS.

A MORE COMMON PROBLEM IS KIDS GETTING ARRESTED BECAUSE IF

YOU PUT OFFICERS IN A SCHOOL, WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO?

THEY'RE GOING TO WANT TO DO SOMETHING AND I AM NOT

BLAMING THEM FOR.

YOU PUT THEM THERE.

THEY ARE GOING TO POLICE A SCHOOL AND NEXT THING YOU

KNOW A LOT MORE KIDS ARE GETTING ARRESTED WHEREAS WE HAD

FIGHTS ALL THE TIME BUT I LIVED IN A SUBURBAN NO ONE EVER

GOT ARRESTED ON THIS CASE THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE.

THE OTHER ISSUE IS NOW YOU HAVE A COP AND HE HAS, AN OFFICER,

AND HE IS USED TO SOME DEGREE OF FORCE WHEREAS THE TEACHERS MAY

BE A LITTLE MORE CAUTIOUS AND INSTEAD, WE HAVE THE

GENERAL ATTITUDE AND CULTURE UNFORTUNATELY OF OFFICERS

WHICH IS IN FORCE AUTHORITY.

LOOK GUYS, ALWAYS SHOE ON THE OTHER FOOT.

IF I AM THAT OFFICER, IT IS A HARD JOB TO DO TO SPLIT THEM UP.

BUT IF I AM THAT GIRLS DAD AND I JUST SAW SOMEONE BODY SLAM

MY HUNDRED POUND DAUGHTER.

IMAGINE HOW MAD YOU WOULD BE IF SOMEONE SLAMMED YOUR 100

POUND DAUGHTER.

TAKE IT EASY.

SUPER LAST THING IS, JR MAKES A REALLY INTERESTING POINT.

WHEN IT COMES TO THE KIDS, WE DO ZERO TOLERANCE.

WE DO IT ALL THE TIME.

YOU BRING THE WRONG KIND OF KNIFE TO LUNCH, GONE.

OH MY GOD, IF YOU EVER SMOKE WEED, GONE.

ANYTHING.

YOU DRAW THE WRONG CARTOON, GONE.

ZERO-TOLERANCE.

HOW COME NO ONE EVER SUGGESTS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR COPS?

IF YOU SAY, IF A COP THIS IN THE WRONG HE SHOULD BE GONE,

ZERO-TOLERANCE.

PEOPLE SAY NO, THEY'VE A JOB.

WE SHOULDN'T EVEN TRY THEM?

WE SHOULD ACQUIT THEM IF AT ALL

PART POSSIBLE.

PUBLIC OPINION HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT I THINK BUT

ALSO COPS HAVE THE PROTECTION OF UNIONS.

KIDS DON'T.

THAT'S IT.

WE DID A KIDS UNION.

The ULTIMATE GUIDE to Tempo Markings (Parts 1,2 and 3) - Duration: 10:04.

If you've studied classical music before Italian words such as andante, presto,

moderato, these words have very specific meanings to you.

But if you're not familiar with these terms, just keep

watching!

First of all let me clarify what i mean by tempo markings.

"Tempo" literally means "time" in Italian, but in music it means "speed".

The two terms are interchangeable.

You'll hear expressions such as fast tempo slow

tempo different tempo.

And second of all tempo markings are expressions that

communicate the speed to actually take.

Most frequently these terms are in Italian but you'll also find them in French,

German, English, and other languages.

Let's start by the nine most basic italian tempo markings.

The baseline reference for speed will be walking.

Think of walking from the living room to the kitchen, normal walking.

This will be synonymous to "Andante" in music.

it's the baseline reference for speed.

A bit faster than that would be striding

think of someone walking a little bit quicker in the hallways of an office if

he doesn't want to be late for an appointment so striding equals

"Moderato".

that's the Italian word you associate with striding a little faster

than that is jogging think of jogging as a way to build up a sweat but without

losing your breath the Italian word associated Allegro.

Faster yet is running the associated tempo marking

is vivace.

Think of running as when you run on the sidewalk to catch a bus

and you don't want to miss it and the fastest you could possibly go is

sprinting I'm talking sprinting as a life-and-death someone running after you

with a knife or an axe and you're running for your life

the Italian word is presto so that does it for the upper spectrum of speed

starting from walking we have striding jogging running sprinting.

Now let's visit the lower spectrum of speeds. when

you go a little slower than walking one much slower is strolling.

Think of a walking in a park, just enjoying a nice sunny

day the Italian tempo marking is Adagio.

so that equals strolling a little slower than that is ambling.

Ambling is like the teacher walking throughout the aisles in a classroom

why he's giving his lecture he's not particularly going anyplace but he's

still moving.

The tempo marking associated is "Lento".

Yet slower than that is drifting you're actually not

making a conscious effort to move you're just being carried along think of

someone on a porch in a rocking chair or on a swing.

The Italian tempo marking is "Largo", which literally means large

think of taking up the whole space because you're so chill.

And the slowest you could possibly go is to actually not

go anywhere just to stand there on your two legs.

The tempo marking is "Grave", and think of it as being the speed

of just keeping yourself up on two legs.

So that does it for the lower speculative speeds slower than walking

we've got strolling ambling drifting and standing.

Here is a chart summarizing what I just explained the Italian terms

associated to each word are by no means literal translations I've also marked

some rough approximation of the metronome in case you don't have a

metronome I've included links to help you out, like websites and apps. more

importantly is that i put examples of the different speeds so you can

internalize a little bit better what i mean by the different speeds, from slow

to medium extremely fast.

so this video is about seven new tempo markings which won't be completely new

because each one is basically a precision or a slight modification of

one of the nine basic terms that you're already familiar with for instance we've

got Allegro and its precision is an Allegretto.

We'll get to that one step at a time.

let's start with the basic tempo which is Andante, walking speed.

A notch faster is Andantino.

then we got Moderato, then we've got...

We'd expect to have Allegro, but have allegro but we actually have Allegretto,

which is just a little bit slower than Allegro.

So let's start again: Andante, Andantino, Moderato, Allegretto,

Allegro.

And yet faster is Vivace, even faster Vivacissimo, then we've

got presto and the most unbelievably fast that you can imagine is Prestissimo.

I'll present all of that in a chart at the end of the video.

Now let's go the slower spectrum of speeds starting again from

Andante, slower than that we've got Adagio.

between the two is a coloring of the term adagio which is Adagietto.

the way to think of that term is "not that slow", "not as slow as Adagio".

So, we got Andante, Adagietto, Adagio.

Slower than this is the group of three slow tempo markings you really have to

think of it as a group, you'll understand why.

This group consists of the three tempo markings lento, largo

and grave.

A bit faster than this group is Larghetto, and slower that

this group is Larghissimo.

You see you have to think of it as a group because

the two terms that are each a bit faster and a bit slower

than this group are modifications of the same terms of Largo.

Here's the chart of all the terms that i presented so far

the way I've organized this chart is that the nine basic terms are underlined,

and right next to each one when it's the case is the modification of

that term that's either faster or slower.

one thing i do want to point out is that there are certain patterns going on in

this classification of terms.

For instance when you see a word finishing with "-issimo", for instance "Larghissimo",

it's an exaggeration of another word.

For instance, "Larghissimo" is "really really Largo", and "Vivacissimo" is "really

really Vivace".

"Prestissimo", same thing it's "really really Presto".

Now when you see the word ending in "-etto",

for instance "Larghetto", is that the term tends to go towards the walking

speed, towards something a bit more calm.

For instance "Larghetto" is "Largo, but a little bit towards Andante".

"Adagietto" is "Adagio, but a little bit closer to Andante".

Same thing with Allegretto, it's "Allegro but a little bit

closer to Andante".

This video is about tempo modifications.

In other words, the piece starts at a certain initial tempo, and throughout the piece,

slight modifications of speed occur.

The most straightforward modifications are to either to speed up gradually or to

slow down gradually.

The two terms are "accelerando" which means gradually speed

up, and "ritardando" meaning the opposite, gradually slowing down.

A synonym of ritardando is "rallentando", so these terms are synonymous.

The following two terms are indirect implications that the tempo gets modified.

Let me explain: The first term, "stingendo", means "pack the notes closer together, increase

the pressure in the music", so necessarily as a side effect, the tempo

increases, you speed up.

Next term is "allargando", which means the opposite,

it means "broaden the space between the notes", so the tempo gets slower.

The next two terms are about sudden modifications in speed.

"Accelerato" (not to confuse with "accelerando"), "accelerato"

means push the music, give a shove to the tempo, go suddenly faster,

stumble down the steps.

And the opposite is "ritenunto", it means "hold back", it's really like

having someone pulling you back as you're moving forward,

so you're struggling to move the music, so necessarily abruptly you're going slower.

The next tempo marking is "rubato".

It's one of my favorite tempo markings, because it's not a direct implication of either

going faster or slower, it means "do what you feel", it means "slighly

going faster, slightly going slower", basically the way we speak to someone.

We never go always faster, or always slower.

We always fluctuate the speed the way we think the thoughts

have to flow through our speech.

So the same applies to music.

The next three terms is actually a group of three expressions.

The first term, "a tempo" means "go back to the initial tempo".

It applies after a small stretch of music has been played in a different tempo,

either faster or slower than initial.

The next expression, "tempo primo" means the same thing, but it usually applies

after a long stretch of music, like a whole section, has been played at a

different tempo.

And the last one, "l'istesso tempo", is a very interesting tempo

marking.

It means "no matter what the music makes you want to do,

just stay at the same tempo".

For instance, big chords are being played, and you have to play louder and louder, and

feel like speeding up, do NOT speed up!

Or if you feel like slowing down, do NOT slow down.

Stay at the same tempo.

The side effect of this tempo marking is very interesting,

because when your gut is telling you to modify the speed, you shouldn't.

Stay at the same tempo!

Here's the chart summerizing the 13 terms and expressions that

I presented in this video.

What's interesting in the classification that I've done,

is that there's more to just speed modifications.

There's a whole attitude that you have to modify, and the side effect

is that the tempo and the speed get modified.

Well, like this video if you found it interesting, share it with people that you think will find

it interesting as well, and subscribe not to miss more content like

this.

Until next time, listen closer, get smarter, and see you later!

"Hizmet is a true embodiment of the Islamic ideals of love and service to the other" - Duration: 6:42.

I've seen many un-Islamic cults play out in the world today.

You have ISIS, you have Al-Qaeda, you have Boko Haram, you have Al-Shabaab,

you have other similar groups.

Hizmet is NOT and un-Islamic cult.

From my interaction with the volunteers, it's anything but.

This is a group of people that I have observed to carry out the best of Islamic ideals;

kindness, hospitality, love, service; selfless service.

They are mainstream in their aqeedah, in their creed,

as far as the Sunni Islamic school of thought goes.

They read the Quran; they pray five times a day; they fast.

They're very spiritual people.

They don't push their beliefs, their Islamic beliefs, on non-Muslims.

That's not what they're out to do; they're out to serve the world, Muslim and non-Muslim alike.

So in terms of being an "un-Islamic cult" it's anything but that.

And in terms of what they really are, in my opinion,

is a true embodiment of the Islamic deals of love and service to the other.

And I've never seen anything to suggest otherwise.

I'm a civil rights activist.

I'm a human rights activist.

I don't take my marching orders from demagogues, whether they're domestic or foreign,

whether they're elected or they're dictators.

What I look at is process, and what's absent in Turkey today that troubles me is process.

What's absent in Egypt today that troubles me is process.

What may be absent in America soon, the way things are going, is process.

And in each of those examples I say due process is the arbiter

between those who accuse and those who defend.

And it has to be independent judiciary;

it has to be judges and a court that is not in anybody's corner.

What we're seeing in Turkey, unfortunately, is a situation where government is essentially run by one party

that acts as both the accuser/the prosecutor, the judge and the executioner.

And those who are accused don't really have any leeway in the system to be able to defend themselves.

Those who know Hizmet, who have interacted with Hizmet, they're the farthest thing from violence.

They've never promoted violence; they've never accepted violence;

they've been the first to condemn violence, including a violent overtake of a Republic, a coup.

They've condemned this coup, and they've never promoted anything close to it.

They've never been involved in anything that is violent in nature.

So this goes against common sense.

Now that the accusation is there, we're going to have to ask for proof.

And, even if there are individuals who may be associated with the Hizmet

who are involved in one crime or another, including a coup,

.. the question becomes: at what point do you essentialize the entire movement

of millions of people who are essentially volunteers who want to serve humanity

through the Islamic ideals.

A teacher, a 24-year old woman who's serving in a school in some remote part of Turkey,

or in Pakistan, or in Kazakhstan, or anywhere in the world where they tend to build schools

in areas of underserved, underprivileged communities.

And so a young woman like that who's working at a kindergarten for example,

how is she affiliated or associated with that particular crime?

What you look at here is a witch hunt; what you look at here is 'guilt by association'...

things that are not in the tradition of liberal justice, liberal values, the democracy's espouse.

And it's exactly what is happening around the world when people in power want to shut out

those who are not in their pockets, those who they can't control, or those whom they don't like.

When you're moving towards autocracy, when you're becoming a demagogue,

when you become the state, "l'état, c'est moi", "I am the state",

and when you shut out opposition, shut down media, imprison journalists,

declare organizations or schools or mosques or associations or universities or charities

as terrorist organizations just by a signature,

then I have to say, that is incorrect, and that is problematic, and that is unjust!

And I'll raise my voice, as a Muslim, as a human being,

but also as a civil rights and human rights activist

because civil rights and human rights are not piecemeal, they cannot be divided,

they cannot be allocated to one group and then denied another.

I believe that ideals are only good and are only meaningful if they apply to all human beings

and so I'm not concerned about where the politics align themselves,

I'm not concerned about what's in it for me, or will I get tarnished,

or will I get made into a hero, that's not a consideration.

It's simply a belief in blind due process, blind independent judiciary,

and having the procedures and the processes of justice apply everywhere, equally, to all people.

When I read the news that all these schools are shut down in Pakistan,

it really hurt me because Pakistan is in need of schools, it's in need of education.

We hear about the radicalization, we hear about the illiteracy,

we hear about the lack of education in parts of the country;

same in the United States, same anywhere in the world.

And anyone who is putting themselves into service in order to build schools

and educate young people -- as someone who built an organization, I understand how much effort that takes,

every wall that is painted, every nail that is hammered into that wall and then pictures hung up,

every computer that is bought and connected, every rug that is placed on the ground,

every chair and every table...

And then all of the content that comes along with the education,

or the civil rights services, in our cases, etc.,

it takes so much to build an organization, a single classroom,

.. and here you have a school of many classrooms, and then you have a movement of many schools.

On all of that, think back to the simple nailing of a nail into the wall and all of the work that went with it.

All of that is just with one signature of a President or Prime Minister,

for political pressure or for personal gain, shuts it all down.

It's so hard to build. It's so easy to destroy.

And we, Muslim-Americans and people of conscience, have to raise our voices and say, we don't stand for that!

The Rubik's Cube Metaphor - Duration: 2:16.

it was a sight to behold, but that ship has long since passed or at least it should've.

Why hasn't it?

I sat down and learned how to solve it in a weekend and I've been amazing people ever

since.

And it has also become a metaphor to me.

Just look at it for a moment, what do you see?

Basic shape, colors, nine squares on each side, what else?

I'll tell you what most people miss, the patterns.

It blows right over people's minds, because they don't know it's there.

Look at your life, what do you see?

It all boils down to pattern recognition and formulas.

You have to know what to look for before you can start solving it.

You don't want to toss yourself into a mess and just hope for the best.

You can only get so far.

Most people can intuitively get one side of it done, but they leave it as that, no questions

asked, "Here's your cube back."

Then they still sit there, in awe.

They never bother to learn the situation that surrounds the mess.

Every problem has a solution that requires a specific set of steps to make it work.

These can be learned.

They can be learned by trial and error or by training, either way they can be learned.

Unfortunately, life isn't as clean and mathematical as the cube.

It won't always wield same results every time, but there is always a pattern and a

logical solution.

Nothing happens to people just to happen to people, although, it may seem like it.

Sadly many people may treat their life like they treat the cube.

It's the mindset that counts.

The Rubik's Cube may be insignificant to learn on its own, but the meaning goes so

much deeper.

What's to say that people won't start slipping that mindset into situations that

they actually care about?

It may just be a cube, but the way I see it is that I can literally hold the answer to

many of life's problems.
