TERRI: In 2012, I started practicing this simple thing
that caused me to go from just wishing things would change to
living my dreams. Thousands of people all over the world
are doing the same thing and getting amazing
results. Today, I want to show you how.
(Music)
TERRI: Hey, I'm Terri Savelle Foy and you're
watching Live Your Dreams. I pray that as you invest in
yourself today, you're captivated and catapulted to
live your dreams. You know, somebody once described the game
of football as 60,000 people who desperately need exercise
watching 22 men who desperately need rest. They said the game of
football is highly indicative of life itself. Most people watch
from the sidelines. Very few people get off the bleachers and
get in the game. Well, I believe you are in the game or you
wouldn't have tuned in to a broadcast called Live Your
Dreams, but I also believe it's going to take a lot of faith, a
lot of drive, a lot of ambition to stay in the game. You know, I
read where Mary Kay Ash, you know, she said there are three
types of people: those who make things happen, those who watch
things happen, and those who wonder, "What happened?" Well, I
believe it's time for you to make things happen. It's time
for you to get fed up of life the way it is and realize that
God has more for your life. I believe you're watching this by
divine appointment because God's telling you, "Come on. Let's
believe for more. Let's go to the next level." Well, it starts
with a decision. When I say it starts with a decision, I mean a
decision on your part to take 100% responsibility for your
life, for where you are. In fact, you know, I heard Zig
Ziglar, the great motivator, he said he was watching a
motivational speaker and he said the guy said this. He was a
success coach and he said, "You are where you are because that's
exactly where you chose to be." He said, "I was broke, in debt,
and down in the dumps." He said, "But he came through loud and
clear that I was where I was and what I was because of me,
because of my choices." Well, when I say it takes a decision
to take responsibility, I mean a responsibility for saying, "I am
where I am. I'm responsible for my achievements, my health, my
wealth, my success, my failures, my mistakes. I'm responsible for
where I am." But it's making that decision to turn your life
around. In fact, Jim Rohn said there's certain emotions that
can lead to a life change. One of those emotions is disgust.
Now, normally, we don't equate that word disgust with positive
change. Do you know that being disgusted with yourself can
actually serve as vision and momentum to get you to change?
You know, for example, seeing a picture of yourself overweight,
that can be enough disgust that you say, "That's it. I'm making
a change." Or being at the grocery store and maybe you
couldn't pay for all the groceries and you have to put
some of them back. That can be enough disgust that you just
say, "I'm not living like this anymore. I'm making a change."
Or being at the restaurant with your friends and maybe your
credit card's declined right in front of them. That can be
enough disgust that you say, "Enough is enough," and you make
those destiny decisions to turn your life around. Disgust is
what we reach when we're tired of being ashamed, humiliated,
embarrassed with some part of our life and we just say, "This
is it. I'm making a decision to change my life." Well, you know,
I got to that place in my life years ago where I got disgusted
with myself. Nothing was changing year after year. Every
year was just a repeat of the year before. I just said,
"Something has to change. God has to have more for my life."
You know, I began by simply having a vision board and making
a vision board of my dreams and my goals. You know, you hear
about vision boards, you hear about vision board parties going
on all over America, all over the world. Well, when I got
serious about my future and I started making a vision board,
my life drastically changed. Do you know what it started with?
Audacity. Developing the audacity to dream. You know, I
heard somebody define that word audacity as nerve, courage,
boldness, guts, fearlessness, and grit. In other words, you
have the nerve to dream that, you have the audacity, the guts,
the boldness to dream that kind of dream. I want you to develop
that kind of audacity in your life that people even say to
you, "You seriously have the audacity to think that could
happen?" You say, "Yes, that's exactly what I have, audacity."
Well, that's what God wants you to have. He wants you to have
the audacity to believe that he has more for your life. That
takes faith. You know, I believe God wants us to go back to
having that childlike faith. In fact, you know, people tease me
all the time that I sound like I'm nine years old. I get it.
I've been teased about that my whole life. Even when I was a
kid, they said you sound like a kid. You know, a lady told me
one time, she was picking me up for a meeting, driving me to the
church, and she said, "I know why you sound like a kid." I
said, "Please tell me." She said, "Because most of us
stopped dreaming when we were kids." She said, "You speak to
the child in us to get our dreams back." I said, "I like
that. I'll take it." Well, you know, I discovered God wants you
to have that childlike faith to simply believe. That's what it
takes, that innocent childlike faith where you stop trying to
figure out how in the world these dreams could ever happen
but you simply believe. You know, I heard a story about a
little boy named Steve. He was six years old. He grew up in
poverty, very, very low income family. He said he was wearing
hand-me-down clothes. He suffered from a stuttering
problem. He said he's sitting class and the teacher said, "I
want all of you to write a paper on what you want to be when you
grow up." He said he thought about it and he said he had seen
this funny guy on TV so he said, "That's what I want to do." He
wrote his little paper and he said, "I want to be on TV making
people laugh." Well, he turned in his paper. The next day, the
teacher's reading all the papers out loud. When she got to
Stevie, she said, "Stevie, come up here." He said, "Hey, she's
going to use me as an example." He went up there and she said,
"Stevie, what did you write?" He said, "I want to be on TV making
people laugh." She said, "Let me ask you something. Have you ever
been on TV?" He said, "No, mam." She said, "Has anybody in your
family ever been on TV?" He said, "No, mam." She said, "Then
go rewrite your paper and write something more realistic." He
said he went home that day and he was devastated. He said it
was the first time anybody had ever told him what he could or
could not become. He shared it with his dad and his dad said,
"Steve, here's what I want you to do. Put that paper in your
nightstand." He said, "Every night before you go to bed, I
want you to take that paper out, read it out loud, and thank God
that one day you'll be on TV." He said, "Every morning before
you get up and go to school, I want you to take that paper out,
read it out loud, and thank God one day you're going to be on
TV." He said he did this year after year after year. You know,
today, Steve Harvey's on TV every day making people laugh.
Well, he had that childlike faith to just believe. You know,
that's what it takes is for you to just asking how in the world
could God ever do this, just believe. You know, it starts
with using your imagination. You know, your imagination is a gift
from God. It was God's idea that you sit and dream and think and
imagine your life beyond where it is today. In fact, do
remember the story in Genesis when they're building the Tower
of Babel and these were ungodly people building this structure
to try to reach heaven? God's the one who said, "This is just
the beginning of what they will do." He said, "Now nothing they
have imagined themselves doing will be impossible for them."
Think about those words. Nothing you have imagined yourself doing
will be impossible for you. You have to imagine it. Well, you
know, years ago, I was over in France. I was preaching in
Paris. Meanwhile, they were decorating our offices back at
our headquarters and they were painting my walls and putting
these beautiful hardwood floors in. The girl who was decorating,
she texted me and she said, "Terri, what do you want on this
giant wall that your desk faces?" I texted her back, "A
vision board." She texted me back, "Huh?" I said, "I want a
giant vision board because I want to put pictures and images
of where I see this ministry going." Well, when I got home, I
could hardly wait to see how pretty the offices were. I
walked in my office and sure enough, I saw this giant cork
board and it was framed with this black frame. They found
this cork board in the office that nobody was using. They
framed it, hung it on my wall, and I was so excited to have my
vision board. Well, I kept thinking, "As soon as I get
caught up on all my work from being out of town, I'm going to
put pictures up there." Time kept going by, time was going
by. I was so busy. It took me a while to get to this. I can't
tell you how bad it bothered me every time I would look up from
my desk and see nothing. I'm convinced if you see nothing,
you can expect nothing. Well, it didn't take me long. I started
putting pictures and images up here of what I believe in God
for. I put pictures of us preaching to thousands of
people. I put certain sums of money that I was believing God
for for our outreaches. I put a picture of me teaching on the
broadcast. I superimposed a fake picture of me in a bookstore as
if my books were on the shelf. I even put a picture of the Dallas
Cowboys cheerleaders. My husband said, "You want to be a Dallas
Cowboys cheerleader?" I said, "No." He said, "Well, sometimes
they have old ones." I said, "Thank you, Rodney. I appreciate
that." I said, "No, I want to minister to the Dallas Cowboys
cheerleaders." Well, I just put these pictures up there
representing my faith so God could see what I was believing
God for. Well, do you know there's a principle in the word
of God that you become what you behold? Whatever you keep before
your eyes, it will eventually show up in your life. Here's the
thing. You have to give yourself permission to dream. Yes, it
took some audacity for me to put these kind of pictures up in my
office for other team members to see. My coworkers saw this. You
have the audacity to believe this? That takes nerve and
courage and boldness and grit, doesn't it? Do you know what?
Every single thing that I just told you on this board has
already happened and much more. The same will happen for you
when you give yourself permission to dream, when you
get serious about the dreams and the goals that God's put in your
heart. Don't brush them off as no big deal. Don't say, "It
can't be God. That's just a wish of mine." Do you know God gives
you the desires of your heart? I read what that word desire means
from the father. The desires you have, they're unique to you so
don't disregard them, don't ignore them. Those are unique to
you. Here's the principle. When the vision is clear, the results
will appear. Now, I want you to watch this special announcement.
When we come back, I'm going to teach you a few more strategies
to getting clear about the vision, the dreams and the
goals, that God's put in your heart. You'll go
from wishing things would change to living your
dreams. Watch this and I'll be right back.

TERRI: We're talking about having a vision and
a vision board for your life. You know, I started
doing this in 2012. I got crystal clear on
what I was believing God for. I'm telling you from
experience, I went from just wishing things would change to
living my dreams. You know, the most successful people in the
world visualized their desired result in life. They've very
clear about what they're believing for. You know, this is
a principle that came from the word of God. In fact, one of my
favorite scriptures and I say this scripture nearly everywhere
I go because I love what it says and I love what it means. It's
Isaiah 43:19 and this is what it says, "See I am doing a new
thing. Do you not perceive it?" I actually like how the verse
starts out. I didn't even read that. It says, "Do not remember
the former things nor consider the things of old. Behold, I'm
doing a new thing and now it shall spring forth." I love that
because you got to let go of the past so you can embrace the
future. Listen to this translation. It says, "I'm doing
a new thing. Do you not perceive it?" In other words, God's
getting ready to pour his favor on you, promote you, expand your
influence, but he's asking you this question, "Do you not
perceive it?" Well, that word perceive means to notice, to
identify, to comprehend, and to see. God's asking you today, "Do
you see where I want to take you?" Well, that's why I love
making a vision board because that's me saying to the Lord, "I
see where you're taking me. I see where we want to go." Well,
you have to see it. I want to ask you, "What do you see?" You
know, if you were to just imagine your life five years
from now, what can you see, what can you truly imagine yourself
doing? Do you see yourself rising to the top of a company?
Do you see yourself singing before thousands of people? Can
you see yourself going online and paying off that credit card?
Can you see yourself graduating from college or pastoring a
church or writing a book, walking into a bookstore and
seeing your books on the shelf? Can you see yourself hosting
your own TV show or living in your dream house, driving your
dream car? Can you see yourself on the mission field or weighing
your ideal weight? You got to see it on the inside before it
ever shows up on the outside. You know, that's why I like
making vision boards is because it's one thing to see it on the
inside and that's where it starts is visualizing, imagining
and giving yourself permission to dream. Well, when you start
putting pictures and images to those dreams, it causes your
desire to elevate and you become more determined than ever to
achieve those dreams but it starts with your imagination,
with your ability to think it. You know, I love this story I
read about Tara Holland. She said that she dreamed of being
Miss America. That was her greatest dream. Well, in 1994,
she entered the Miss Florida contest and she got first runner
up. Well, she wouldn't give up on that dream so the next year,
she entered the contest again and again she got first runner
up. Well, she could have gotten discouraged, given up and
thought, "Well, it must not be God's plan for my life."
Instead, she moved to Kansas and entered the contest in Kansas. I
mean, hey, we got 49 other states. She enters the contest
in Kansas and she won the title of Miss Kansas. Well, later on
that year, she competed for the Miss America pageant and she
actually won the title of Miss America. Well, you know people
were interviewing her, asking her all these questions. "Miss
America, how did you stay focused after two major losses?
How did you not want to just give up and quit?" She said,
"Well, what I did was I went and rented videos of every beauty
pageant I could find." She said, "I watched them hundreds and
hundreds of times." Then she said this, "Each time they would
crown the winner, I would just close my eyes and imagine that
crown going on my head." She said, "Whenever they would sing
Here She Comes, Miss America," she said, "I would close my eyes
and just imagine walking the runway holding my flowers."
Well, the night she won Miss America, you know they have all
these reporters around, and they were asking her, they said,
"Miss America, are you nervous knowing that millions of people
are watching you all over the world?" She said, "No, I'm not
nervous at all. I have done this thousands of times." Well, where
did she do it? In her imagination. She saw everything
in here before it ever showed up out here. You know, there is
power in you just taking the time to see beyond where you are
today, see beyond your current circumstances, see yourself,
like I said before, see yourself paying off your debts and see
your children serving God, see that ministry flourishing. You
know, in my book on Dream It. Pin It. Live It., I teach you
how to start giving yourself a mission to dream. In other
words, stretching your imagination, thinking outside
the realm of possibility. You know, most success coaches
recommend that you imagine your life five years into the future
because that's something you can kind of wrap your mind around.
Well, I believe that the next five years of your life could be
the most amazing, most productive, most rewarding years
of your life or just another five years. It's completely up
to you and your ability to dream. What do you see? Do you
see yourself married? Do you see yourself with a baby? Are your
kids in college? Are you working? Where are you working?
Are you self-employed? Are you ministering? Are you teaching a
class? You know, you have to ask yourself these questions. Have
you written your first book? Have you gone on your first
mission trip? Where did you go? Are you living overseas? Is your
debt paid off? What are you driving? How much money have you
saved five years from now? Where have you traveled? Where do you
live? What does your house look like? These are the type of
questions you need to start asking yourself in order to move
beyond where you are today. You know, you've probably heard of
the law of attraction. Well, you know, the law of attraction, it
basically states that your mind is like a magnet. Whatever gets
in your mind and stays there, you will eventually attract it
in your life. People call it the law of attraction. You know,
success coaches teach on the law of attraction. You know, it's
basically Proverbs 23:7, "Whatever a man thinks, so shall
he become." What you think about, you bring about. Well,
that's why it's so important that you get crystal clear on
your dreams and your goals and you keep them before your eyes.
Whatever you keep before your eyes, you will eventually
attract it in your life. You know, they've proven that people
who move to America from other countries, they're three to four
times more likely to become millionaires than those of us
who are born here. You know why? They have it so programmed in
their mind that America is the land of opportunity, it's a
place where dreams come true, "If I could just get to America,
I know I'll be a millionaire." Well, consequently, they get
here and they walk right to it like a magnet. Well, when you
get your dreams and your goals in front of you, every single
day, you're looking at them, you're praying over them, you're
speaking to those dreams, you know, that's how you give life
to your vision is you speak to those dreams. You're going to
walk right to it like a magnet. In other words, you're going to
recognize opportunities all around you that you never saw
before. Well, you become what you behold. That's a principle
from the word of God. You know, I shared at the beginning how
you got to honor those desires that God has put in your heart.
They're unique to you. You know, I mentioned how that word
desire, the Latin form of that is from the father. Like for me,
I started writing that I wanted to go to that nation of France.
I studied the French language. That wasn't coincidental. That
was a desire that God put in my heart. Well, desires are from
the father so don't brush them off as no big deal. Honor the
desires that God's put in your heart. Then, write it down. You
know, there's something powerful that happens when you grab a pen
and some paper and you start writing your dreams and goals.
It causes you to become more in tune with what it is you really
want to achieve. If you go to any success conference, they
will tell you the power of the pen. They'll tell you that
you've got to write your dreams. Again, this came from the word
of God. Habakkuk 2:2 says, "Write the vision and make it
plain." Well, you know, I've received testimonies from people
all over the world, people who are receiving healing in their
bodies from getting clear on what they're believing for to
one lady, she said she and her husband, they worked at a car
wash, this was years ago, they had no money, they were living
in a house that's about to be condemned. I mean, they were in
the poverty level. They began learning these principles about
getting clear on their vision. She said, "The desire of my
heart was to have a horse." She said, "Since I was a little
girl, I wanted to have a horse." Well, she said that wasn't a
priority. They needed to just pay the light bill. They didn't
need to buy a horse. She went ahead and found a picture of
horses, put it on her refrigerator which was her
vision board, and she just began praying over that vision. Well,
I love her story that we put in here. She says as they began
learning how to apply the word of God to their lives, she said,
"Today, I have 11 horses on my 34-acre ranch," and she has
these special horses that are in training, the really expensive
kind, and she said, "It just proved to us that whatever you
keep before your eyes, it will eventually show up in your
life." Well, God is no respecter of persons. He just wants us to
do what he said to do. I don't believe it's a coincidence that
you're watching today. I believe God's speaking to you. You know,
these are success principles that came from his word. Why
can't we just do it? God will honor your commitment. When he
sees you going the extra mile to get serious about your dreams,
to say, "You know what? I'm not going to repeat this year what I
did last year." You know, if we want something different, we got
to be willing to do something different. That's the story of
my life. I mean, I went 11 years working the same job, no change
in my life, every year was identical to the year before.
Then all of a sudden, when I just sat there and gave myself
permission to dream and then took the time ... You know, the
Bible says study to show yourself approve. When I took
the time to start cutting out pictures and images of what I
saw in my spirit, what I saw in my imagination and then praying
over those dreams, they began happening. You know like I said
how success coaches recommend you imagine five years into the
future? Do you know none of those dreams took five years?
None of them took five years. That's the power of having a
vision. Well, I want you to get this special bundle we put
together, Dream It. Pin It. Live It., make vision boards work for
you. You know, this isn't just for scrapbookers, people who
like making little scraps. Do you know we have a giant vision
board here at my ministry? Everybody on my team has a
vision board. My family members have vision boards. The most
successful people in the world are crystal clear on what
they're believing for. I want you to get this book where I
teach you how to get started, how to even set goals. You know,
it's one thing to have the big dreams of the house on the
Pacific Ocean, the Grammy Award, a million dollars. It's great to
have those dreams. Dream as big as you can. That's what I start
the book out with. Also, let's bring it down a notch. Let's
learn how to set some goals that have a 50% chance of happening.
When you like pay off that credit card of $3000, that will
boost your confidence and it will build your faith to go
after the bigger dreams God has. I'll teach you how to set goals
the right way. There's one whole chapter on don't share big
dreams with small minds. In other words, not just anybody
can see your vision board. You know, big minds have a way of
elevating you to reach your highest potential. Small minds,
they have a way of sucking ambition right out of you so you
got to be careful who sees your vision board. I'll teach you all
that. Of course, here's the audio teaching. Listen to this
while you're driving, while you're doing dishes, while
you're making beds, while you're at work, while you're working
out. You will become so motivated to achieve your dreams
that I'm declaring by faith that by next year at this time, you
won't be where you are today. I want you to get the workbook.
This comes with the bundle. This is to show you how to set goals
the right way. You know, a lot of times we set goals, January
1st, we make our list, but then we put it in the nightstand and
we never look at it again. Well, I'm going to teach you how to
set goals the right way that will ensure your commitment to
them and your fulfillment of those dreams. This is a special
resource we've put together. Of course, if you want to get the
whole vision board kit, we made that available to you also. I
just believe this is your season to conquer procrastination where
no longer do you say, "Some day I'm going to get serious about
that." Remember, some day is not a day of the week. It doesn't go
Someday, Monday, Tuesday. This is your season to go to the next
level. You know, I always like to say don't look at the years
you've lost. Look at the years you've got left and start living
your dreams. I believe you're watching this because God wanted
to speak to you today to say this is your season. This isn't
for everybody else but you. This is for you. I'm challenging you
today kick it up a notch and start living your dreams.
