LEGO Technic Racing Yacht review ⛵ 42074 - Duration: 9:10.

hello everyone this is the lego technic racing yacht set for 2018 and looking

forward to this one for a while it is a two in one set so I will show you the

alternate official build but first I want to get through this main build

because it is pretty good looking pretty interesting looking very bright with the

color scheme obviously a lot of that comes from the stickers and also the

vinyl pieces that they provided for the sails those are brand new

I like the inclusion of some indications of lines and also the battens that are

built into the thing even though there are no actual strings attached to this

boat to give it any proper rating you've got no sheet for the jib up there

unfortunately lots of stickers well let's say lots of stickers by volume for

the the outside surface area you cover a lot of it with stickers but I think they

look good I think that they are important there's a lot of mechanism

here as well which is pretty cool for a sailing boat this has a pivoting

steering mechanism which works pretty well if you don't touch the wheel itself

it tends to not want to move the single rudder very much though surprised I

didn't go with a dual writer setup here but you know you can basically move this

to either side independent of actually steering the boat so I decided this

feels really nice it's just smooth it works really well and then you have two

winches one for either side depending upon which attack you're on and those

actually work they work with a little rigid bar that goes back and forth to

just move the entire boom from one side to the other so you can kind of use that

as a has a sheet on either side but then also use it to just straight up move the

thing from side to side so a little bit of realism a little bit of not but I

like it it feels good it looks good it's

interesting I like the use of the rubber bands in here I like also particularly

these spool pieces they look perfect for this application even if the little

handles are a little bit oversized did you see did you see a tire yep there are

two tires and two wheels underneath this thing so

the two tires kind of act like the keel kind of kind of mmm not really kind of

act is the center of buoyancy net buoyancy on the thing but they allow you

to to heal the things side-to-side because of the wheels that don't have

any tires on them so that's really nice there's no posing of this thing in a

perfectly horizontal position it's always going to lean to one side which i

think is perfectly fine a couple more stickers in there to show

you some instrumentation on the raised cabin portions which are fairly simple

you know design wise but I like the lines on this thing I like the colors

like I said the mechanisms work pretty well

there's a good level of detail for the number of parts especially the thing is

about the size that I expected it to be it just has a very small rig very small

set of sails there they're short in height you know the length is not bad

but the height is is really poor I mean this should probably be I don't know at

least 50% taller the the main mast the mast should be at least 50% taller one

other thing that I don't like about this is that it feels a little bit rickety I

think that would be the most appropriate where you just see a lot of little parts

a lot of sub assemblies moving around and they move around fairly easily and

they kind of kind of rattle it just bugs me a little bit but of course when it's

on display it's not an issue it's not an issue for a play if you want actually

pilot this thing around a little bit and it's not a durability issue it's just

from how few connection points that they actually use it's not a very solid build

which is perfectly fine but just wanted to point out that it is something that

you can feel that you might not literally see so yeah overall I'm pretty

happy just needs a taller sail set of sails

and I think it'd be pretty close to perfect actually if for any reason

you're wondering if there's any storage space in the cabin no

there's not that's okay I like the shape that this creates from the side wow that

is a nice secondary build this thing is almost as large as the primary build it

does use most of the pieces leaves just a couple of few large pieces behind and

handful of really small ones it's got to be one of the closest secondary builds

to the original build or the primary build that have ever seen in terms of

its size and completeness this still has working features and it let me get this

thing spent around so you can see how wide it is it is a catamaran set up

obviously it's using the same sails so that gives you the the scale right there

and yeah they've got the little winches off to the side this time still using

rubber bands for the mechanism like get you in closer so there's that yep still

working basically the same just slightly different ratio but it's really close it

does the trick it's it's pretty nice and then instead of a single rudder so this

one did go with the dual rudders and I think these are supposed to represent

tillers that's a little bit of a Miss there but it's okay given given how good

the entire thing is how good the entire thing looks got a couple of kind of

bucket seats basically off to the sides for your your sailor or sailors at least

one at a time I guess this could be operated by a single person but I would

expect it to be operated by a couple once again they've used the tires on the

underside and wheels off to the side so it's always heeling over

so there's off to one side and there's to the other side it's it's kind of

subtle one thing that I don't like about either of the builds is the fact that

it's really designed to only work with the wind coming off the starboard side

you know the the sails come out of the box they tend to come out of the box a

little bit rounded you know a little bit folded up you can fix that carefully by

straightening them out and iron not directly applied but with

some cardboard above and below you have to be really really careful cuz you can

melt this very easily but you can straighten out or flatten out the sails

a bit which makes them look not quite as as realistic as this but just the way

that it's built you do need to kind of reverse things right you need to take

some some pieces out and pop them back in on the other side if you want to get

a nice you know a nice a nice pose just have it in a different direction it's

totally doable with the pieces that are included in the set it's not too

difficult so that's all good but it does require that you you do some work

basically in this case you can actually just rotate that around take the sail

off and and put it back on but with with the mane you just pop some out so much

better than most of their sailboats stuff in that way even though that is

the thing that I like the least usually when I talk about expectations with

products it's to point out that I expected something to be bad and it's

actually good or I expected something to be good and it's actually not that great

I had high expectations for this set just looking at it even just on on just

first inspection of the initial main picture of the thing I really thought

that it looked good and I hoped that it was going to be good and I'm happy that

surprisingly not only is it as good as as I expected but with that secondary

model how good it is this is actually better than I expected even though I

thought he was going to be good and in the first place so that's great the

sizes is very modest the the price is is fairly reasonable definitely could have

used a taller rig but it's still it just looks really nice the build is really

good has some nice pieces in the the dark as your color as well it's a nice

striking color scheme a lot of this is done really well in so many ways so

color me impressed nicely done whoever designed this thing good job good

product to have on the market serves fans well
