FabScraps Technique Tuesday Easy Gesso resist with FabStencil & Cosmic Shimmer watercolours - Duration: 6:47.

Hi I'm Gerry from Gerry's Craft Room and welcome to my channel

In today's video I'm going make an easy mixed media card with a Fabscraps stencil

and Gesso resist I start with applying gesso with a sponge

you don't need much gesso on the sponge so it will not go under the stencil

After drying with a heat tool I apply more leaves in the corner

I use some sticky notes to block the first layer

After drying I'm going to add some watercolour with a water brush

First I wet the paper and then I start applying the colours

It's pretty hot at the moment so I need to add some water now and then

to let the colours move a bit

I fill in the whole card and dry in between to see how it looks

and keep adding colour until I like the result

When the card is completely dry I use a wet wipe to remove the colour from the gesso

With gesso diluted with water I add some splats

And some more splats with black gesso

After drying I'm adding some shiny green thread I have a piece of tape to stick it

to the card This way I can make some loops

I made some big flowers out of paper from

the Pink Lemonade collection and I added black

stems for contrast

And I add the flowers to the card they will cover the tape

And I finish with some rhinestones

If you like the video give it a thumbs up

and share it with your friends

if you are new here don't forget to subscribe to my channel

and I'll see you in the next video

thanks for watching

25 Most Common English Adjectives You NEED to Know - Duration: 8:42.

So today, we have a really fun lesson for you.

We are talking about the 25 most common adjectives in English.

So today, we are going to share with you the 25 most common adjectives in English.

And these are taken from the Oxford English Corpus, which is just a collection of the English language.

Keep in mind that if you study English you should really, really know these 25 words.

So we're going to tell you the adjective and also give you an example sentence.

So we're going to count down from #25.

And we don't know each other's adjectives, so we're

going to try and think of a sentence just right off the top of our head.

So number twenty-five - the 25th most common adjectives in English is ABLE.

You can speak more than that. No?

I can understand like five.

Twenty-four is SAME.

Can you believe it?

Yeah. Scandalous.

Number twenty-three - I actually thought this one would be higher but it's not - is BAD.

Oh. I'm surprised in the higher too.

I thought you were going to say Wes is a bad boy.

Can we talk all his socks and sandal phase.

Number twenty-two is PUBLIC.

Public park. What's wrong with the public park?

Nothing. I just...I had a weird image in...

It's...it's a fine example.

Number twenty-one is FEW.

He has like two shirts.

No I don't. I have like four.

And two pairs of jeans.

It's few.

Number twenty - and this one I thought would be higher too - IMPORTANT.

Really?

Alright...

Something is important.

Number nineteen - YOUNG.

Can you give us a sentence while we're young?

Wes is a young man.

What's wrong with "Wes is a young man"?

Wes is a...because it's not true.

Wes is not a young man.

That's a terrible sentence.

Eighteen is EARLY.

Okay, this is true.

I am not an early riser. That is...yes.

Yes, I hate early mornings

Yeah, we got it.

Number seventeen is NEXT.

Number sixteen is LARGE.

It is large. Quite large.

Number fifteen - quite fittingly - is SMALL.

They're so cute. They're so small.

I like this one. Number fourteen is DIFFERENT.

Sometimes. It can be a good thing.

Yeah. We should all be different.

Number thirteen is HIGH.

Yeah. High.

Okay.

What are you thinking about?

High heels. High building. Yeah. If a person is high then they've been smoking something.

Drugs.

In case that wasn't clear for you.

Number twelve is BIG.

Is big?

Can't wait.

Big meal.

Indian.

Yeah, that's true. We're going to go get some Indian. Have a big meal.

Number eleven...

I kind of want to give the sentence, but never mind.

Number eleven is RIGHT.

Oh no. Wes is going to say "Wes is always right." It's not true.

That is a good sentence. Thank you. Yes.

It's annoying because he's usually right.

Why is that annoying?

Put yourself in my shoes.

But we're on... we're on...we're on the same team. So it's good.

But you love to tell me that you're always right.

That's why I'm a bad boy.

Top ten! Wahoo!

This is also appropriate for Wes - OLD.

What? Old?

All right to be fair, I'd say...

How old is it Wes?

Probably...I don't know, maybe seven or eight years.

We met five years ago, and you had it.

I know I said it's like seven or eight years.

It's old.

Like its owner.

What?

Number nine is OTHER.

So if somebody asks like "Oh, can I have that one?" I can say...

Yeah. Something else. You could say like "What did you do the other day?"

Oh, yeah.

Other day.

Number eight is OWN.

Or like it's something that's yours.

Yeah.

My very own camera. I can't believe my own luck.

Number seven is LITTLE.

It's a nice word.

It's cute.

I'm trying to think of a cute sentence.

It should be first thing that pops your head. Go! Go! Go! Go!

Okay.

You don't want a big cat?

No. A little one.

I want a big cat.

I want a little one.

I want a big chubby cat.

I expected this to be where it is - GREAT.

Number six is GREAT.

Great. I would say...

Ioana, she's great.

That's true. I am great.

Even though I'm always right.

We've entered the top five.

Do you think other people are as excited about adjectives as we are?

Probably not.

So number five is LONG.

I was really tired so yesterday felt like a long day.

I think a lot of people use it in that way. Like "Ah, it's been a long day."

Number four is LAST.

Okay, like...

You could say last week, last month, last year.

When we ran our marathon, we came in last.

When we ran the marathon, yeah, we were almost last.

Almost.

We weren't quite last.

There were four people after us.

Number three - it's interesting how close they are together because number three is FIRST.

We were nowhere close to first.

I was going to talk about my first kiss, but it's inappropriate.

Yeah, people talk about first kiss, first date.

Yeah, I guess that's why probably first is probably more common than last.

Okay the second one, second to last...second to first....

Number two is NEW.

I was going to say new clothes.

Yeah, I need a new pair of shoes.

So the number one adjective - the most popular adjective in English is...

You're screaming in my ear.

GOOD. Number one is GOOD.

I like that that's the first one.

That is a good adjective. Yeah, it's good.

I don't think that's surprising at all.

We use good all the time.

How are things? - Good.

Basically anything. How are you doing? - Good.

That's like the answer to everything.

Keep in mind, these are Important adjectives

so you should know these, learn these, study these.

Dream of these.

So now we want to know, which adjective do you use the most.

Which one is your favorite?

How do you define placemaking and local character? - Duration: 1:07.

- Local character to me is about

what people know and love

and feel comfortable with and enjoy

in the area that they live in.

- Local character is all about

telling the story about a place.

What is it that you like?

Where does a place come from?

What is it that makes up that place?

- It's how people live in that community.

The schools they go to, the shops they go to,

the open space, where they walk the dog, who they meet.

- Local character means physical things

that you would actually interact with.

- That includes the street,

public domain, the buildings,

as well as traffic, numbers of people, outdoor eating,

all the activities are going on.

- It's also about how people use and view their space.

It's about the stories they tell.

It's about memories.

It's about events that have happened.

And it's also about creating a platform

so that continues into the future.

- People want to be connected and identified with that,

just like they're barracking for a footy team.

That idea of connecting to a tribe is part of our DNA.

Skeem Saam's Glenda: Talent won't get you as far as you think in this industry - Duration: 2:45.

Skeem Saam's Glenda: Talent won't get you as far as you think in this industry

Skeem Saam's Glenda: Talent won't get you as far as you think in this industry.

Actress Nozipho Langa has a warning for anyone trying to break into the industry: talent alone won't get you anywhere.

The star, who plays the role of Glenda on popular soapie Skeem Saam told TshisaLIVE that she has seen how many aspiring performers fall flat because they didn't put in the hardwork or have enough knowledge about the industry.

"There is only so much you can do without an education of how things work.

You need to have knowledge behind that and work hard.

Talent will only get you so far.

The things that work for me is prayer and planning.

It is also broadening your knowledge in everything you do and putting yourself out there."   Nozipho studied dramatic arts at Wits University and has BEEN preaching about the benefits of having a formal education in the industry.

And although Nozipho says she hasn't yet "made it", she is getting there.

"In the beginning it was a bit shaky but it has gotten a lot better.

I have been blown away by the reaction from fans to the character.

They see that I am trying my best and I think they appreciate that." Glenda has quickly won over fans with her role but said the biggest lesson it has taught her is patience.

"Patience goes a long way.

She has gone through a lot of things and had to be patient.

It has helped me to be more patient and prayerful.".

How To Write Blogs Fast | Speed Hack [Includes Template] - Duration: 5:33.

- We recently just found a hack

to half the amount of time

it takes us to write our blogs

and our video scripts, if not more.

- So, if you're thinking, god,

I wish creating content was quicker,

stick around because we're gonna show you our hack,

and it might be a little bit controversial.

- Oh.

- But, we think you're gonna love it.

- Plus, right at the end of this video

we're gonna be giving you a template that we use

so you don't have to start with a blank page.

(slide whistle music) (bell dings)

- In our recent video all about blogging strategy,

we mapped out the nine things

you absolutely must need to do

for a successful blog.

And in that video, we learnt

that the average word count

of a successful ranking blog in Google

is like a minimum of 2,000 words.

- That's a lot of words.

- That's a lot of words.

- But, if you will remember correctly,

in that video, writing in the blog

was actually only step two of nine.

So, what you don't wanna do is spend all your time

on step two when you've got step three,

step four, step five, step six,

step seven, step eight, step nine.

That was it, step nine. - yeah, just stop there.

- To actually do as well.

- Get carried away with the momentum there.

- Got a little bit carried away the numbers, yeah.

- Because it's all those other things

that you have to do that makes a successful blog,

not just writing it.

So, let's dive in and find out

what our time saving hack to write blogs faster is.

- Can you actually dive?

- No.

I sorta think it's my fantasy.

(Andrew chuckling)

- And then I was thinking I kinda dive.

- When jokes don't land.

Like Pete's dives.

(drum roll flourishes)

Now we're going to be a little bit controversial here

and suggest that you don't actually write your blogs.

- What? - At this point

could we have one of those duh duh duh sound effects?

- Duh duh duh.

- Because, Pete, I don't know about you.

I can talk much faster than I can type.

- Sure can.

So what we do is actually use voice dictation

to write our content.

Check it out, if you double tap the FN key

on your Mac or use speech recognition on your PC,

you can just talk into your computer

and it will write it up for you.

- You can also do this on Google Docs,

which is a free cloud based online alternative

to Word and we actually think Google Docs

is a lot more accurate.

Look, comma, this is me using my voice to type.

Pretty clever. - Yeah!

- It might take a little bit of time at first

to get used to and it will require some editing, no doubt,

but editing a few typos and some grammar

is much quicker than writing from scratch.

To keep the flow and the passion of your writing,

however, try not to stop too much

to kind of edit as you go.

Just let it all flow.

Accidental rhyme, I love it when that happens.

♪ Let it flow ♪

♪ Let it flow ♪

- Just for fun, we'd love you to try this out

right now on this YouTube video in the comments.

Let us know what you think about voice dictation

to write your blogs faster

and actually use voice dictation right now in the comments.

- I love Pete's idea of fun.

Can you just imagine Pete at the weekend

having fun, voice dictating.

(Andrew laughing)

(squeaking)

- Remember, all you have to do is just

double tap the FN key or turn on speech recognition.

You might wanna leave it just a second

so it loads if this is the first time you've used it

or if it's not working at all,

you might wanna turn it on in the sentence.

- You can tell Pete does this for fun a lot.

He really prefers double tapping that FN key.

At this point, we would even suggest

you could potentially have a writer

or a editor or a designer

as part of your outsource team.

You can just send them the kind of rough copy

and they can make it look pretty.

- 'Cause remember guys, you don't

have to do absolutely everything yourself.

- Think about it, how much is an hour

of your time actually worth.

(bells dinging)

And if you paid an editor to type your blog,

they could probably do that in half the time

and also probably do it much better than you can.

What could you do with that time saved?

Could you even make more money than you have

just outsourced in that time?

- If your business model is set up right,

the more you outsource, the more money

you will actually make.

It's like paying to make yourself richer.

Its great.

Another thing you can do

if this whole voice dictation thing

isn't quite working out for you

is you could record your video scripts

or your blog scripts, and send it off

to a translation service

like Rev.com or even just a writer.

So, you could let you just record your voice on your phone

and send it off to be transcribed.

Easy peasy.

- But not as fun as voice dictation, aye?

- But not as fun as voice dictation.

(bells dinging)

- Now one of the big things we do as well

to create content quicker

is to have all of our blog and video ideas

in a spread sheet broken down

into the different elements

so when it comes to actually creating,

we can just look at that and crack on.

Because that way, you don't have to start with a blank page.

So, if you want that template,

we're gonna link to it below this video.

- [Both] Go get it!

- Right, now that you've watched this video,

you definitely, definitely gonna wanna check out

our blogging play list here on YouTube.

It's got all of the ways to think of new blog ideas

and your killer blogging strategy.

- That's coming up in a moment

but, as always, please subscribe

for more marketing unboringed.

- He's been Andrew, I've been Pete.

- [Both] See you next time.

- Bye.

(upbeat music)
