Waching daily Apr 28 2017

What is going on guys, this is Luke, and in this video we will be creating something along the lines of this:

Syncing video clips is by far one of my most highly requested videos.

Keep in mind that you can synchronize clips for all sorts of edits, but today

I will be focusing on syncing gunshots to music. As per usual, there are a bunch of ways to go about syncing clips.

I'll be showing you the way that I find to be most efficient and precise.

Just so you guys know this technique works in both HitFilm Pro and Express.

For this particular example, I will be syncing the clips in the editor,

but the same concepts will apply for syncing clips within composite shots. As

you can see I've already imported a clip and a song into my media panel.

I have the trimmer panel opened, and I've also trimmed both my files. As a

quick refresher, you can hit "i" to set an in point, "o" to set an out point, and the comma and period

symbols to scrub through frame by frame.

After you've got that sorted out, you can drag in your trimmed footage.

I'm unlinking the clip so that I can get rid of the audio layer.

Now simply plop your song into the editor.

To make the audio waves a bit more visible for identifying potential

syncing points you can click on the arrow beside the timeline zoom tool, and

select the extra large audio size. On

the right side of my HitFilm UI you can also see that I have the audio levels panel.

If you want you can use it as a visual cue to identify loud points or beats in the track.

At this point

I'm going to turn off the visibility of my video layer, and

give a listen to the audio. As you listen think of some potential points that you could use for syncing.

To make things as methodical as possible, and to allow us to easily snap the video layers to the song,

you will now be making markers in the audio layer.

Select your slice tool or by hitting "c",

and then scrub through the editor and make a mark at each beat you plan on syncing the video to. In my case

I am going to be making a mark at each clap sound effect.

Now that that is finished, I will make a mark on the video clip at each point of significance. In this case

I'm working with first person shooter video game footage, so I'll make a mark at each point that there is a gunshot.

Next we will place the point of the gunshot on the video file to align it with the marker

we made on the music track.

Everything should snap into place, and you should now have a gunshot going off at each of your marked beats.

You'll notice that there are points of empty space between each of these sliced clips in the editor.

To close those gaps we will simply use the rate stretch tool.

This will increase or decrease the length of the clip so that there are no gaps, while also maintaining the correct synchronization.

Let's do a quick play through and see the final result.

Remember that

synchronizing is only one part of making an interesting edit. I

encourage you guys to add in different transitions and effects to spice things up after finishing your syncing process.

That's it for now. I hope you guys enjoyed the tutorial if you have any questions, or suggestions feel free to comment below.

Life Is A Game - Motivational Video For Students - Duration: 4:37.

I think the greatest of people, that have ever been in society

They were never versions of someone else

They were

Themselves

The great tragedy

People employed

in ways that don't fully tap, everything they do best in life

Deep down in your heart you know that

You're not living to your potential

And life is now something you're just getting on with

I look around at people so often they're so unhappy and I think the reason is

that they don't ever win the game of life

The game if you like they can't win, they're always losing

And the reason number one is

they don't know the purpose of the game

That's why people wake up in a rut

Their life has no purpose, no meaning, they're not morning people

I'm just not a morning person

You're not a morning person because you're not living in your purpose

See you hate waking up because

You're waking up and you don't know the reason

You're waking up and you don't have no design in mind

Just stop and think about what's most important

Think about why you're here

You are here for a reason

There's something for you to do and be here

Take a look at what burns on the inside of you

You've got to find what you love

What burns in your heart is important for you to pay attention to

Because it never goes away

Start to realise there is something inside of you

That is never ending

There's something inside of you that is unchangable

And that's the part of you that knows what is right, what to do and why you're here

The only way to be truly satisfied

Is to love what you do

As with all matters of the heart

You'll know when you find it

The most stable thing that a man can do

Is to listen to his heart

And to follow it

Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition

They somehow already know

What you truly want to become

But you see people successful soaring by

and you wanna soar

But you got to jump

You gotta find something within

and when you find out what your why is

You don't sleep day or night to get it

People are running towards their dreams, life has a special kind of meaning

When you find your why

You find a way to make it happen

When you truly need something you can find a way

And you stop at NOTHING to reach it

What you will realise is

That you have greatness within you

What you will realise is that you are more powerful than you can ever begin to imagine

We're all dying

What are you dying to do?

What is your true purpose?

on this earth

The two most important days of your life

Are the day you were born

And the day you learned why

Overwatch - 7 Things You Never Knew About TRACER - Duration: 10:52.

Hello, everybody!

Disciple here with Overwatch Curios!

If you've ever heard of overwatch, you've heard of Tracer.

She is the quintessential poster girl for the IP and one of the first images we glimpsed

alongside Winston, Reaper, and Widowmaker during the announcement and the cinematic

trailer that followed at Blizzcon back in 2014.

She's the games embodiment of hope, fun, and charisma and happens to be a very fun

and powerful hero to play in the game.

We've heard so much about tracer in terms of lore, character development, her interactions

with other heroes, and how she fits into the Overwatch roster, but today let's take a look

at tracer and some of the things you might not know about Overwatch's premiere hero!

We all saw Tracer first during that cinematic trailer.

However, the game's development spans much farther back than late 2014 and so does Tracer!

She was actually one of the first three heroes developed for overwatch and began the hero

development routine alongside Reaper and Widowmaker.

So, it's no coincidence that you see these three make their way into that debut trailer.

Tracer would set the stage for the development of all future heroes and she was the first

to be implemented into the game.

Tracer would also be the hero the other teams would use to test the super early mechanics

of the game, like projectile firing and movement.

Sort of a crash-test dummy for Blizzard's first person shooter, you can thank tracer

for many of the games early features that developed into the sharp gameplay we all enjoy.

For the development team, being the first hero in the game makes Tracer a bit of a special

character for many and symbolised the first real identifiable piece of the large Overwatch

project.

That turned into her becoming the visual piece for Overwatch early on, and even slated her

as THE hero to grace the cover of the box art, which is so very recognizable to millions

of fans.

During that initial creation phase, Tracer conceptually began with the idea of a hero

that blinked across the map.

It's likely that her blinks had a huge distance and a much larger cooldown so it couldn't

be abused.

The concept around tracer was a mix between Fighter Pilot and Track Athlete, so you can

see where the blink + speed came from.

If tracer had kept down this road, she would probably have ended up having a much different

style of play.

Instead of a path-oriented short blink, it'd be more like a teleport from one spot on the

map to another giving her massive freedom of movement and making her an almost entirely

flank-based attack hero (even more so than she is right now).

With the longer cool down it would make using Blink a much more tactical decision sort of

like when to use an ultimate or large damaging ability on other heroes.

Of course you can see how this would be OP in the end, and of course Blizzard changed

it to be a bit more subtle of a movement buff, but it goes to show that the first Heroes

had a lot of breathing room in their creation phases with all sorts of ideas being tested!

Many players have seen the Origin skins for heroes in the game which show off what a particular

hero looked like before the present time and circumstances of the story currently in the

game.

Tracers Slipstream skin is no exception and is a direct reference to her back story.

The skin has a serious fighter pilot theme and gives tracer and even more obvious sense

of speed and style.

The Slipstream skin makes perfect sense when you check out her back story which reads:

"Lena Oxton (call sign: "Tracer") was the youngest person ever inducted into Overwatch's

experimental flight program.

Known for her fearless piloting skills, she was handpicked to test the prototype of a

teleporting fighter, the Slipstream.

But during its first flight, the aircraft's teleportation matrix malfunctioned, and it

disappeared.

Lena was presumed dead."

This skin is the outfit she wore while flying the slipstream plane, before her chronal disassociation

accident.

And as such, it is the only skin where she does not have her chronal accelerator!

This doesn't make a lot of practical sense in the game because she can still blink and

recall, which are done by using the Chronal accelerator.

But the skin is awesome and reminds us that tracer wasn't always a time traveling super

hero!

Speaking of time travel, let's hop back to a time before tracer was even tracer!

We all know that Overwatch has its earliest roots in the failed project Titan.

(If you didn't know that fact, we've got a video on that too *on-screen link?*).

During Titans development one of the classes in the MMO was the "Jumper".

He could use a high tech set of gear and a chest piece to blink around the map.

He was small, thin, very fast and agile, and had a parkour vibe to him.

The jumper was designed to be a light weapon carrying, hit and run scout that was highly

maneuverable and confused his enemies while taking shots at them.

Sounds familiar, right?

The jumper even had dual pistols and the circular glowing device on the center of the chest.

This Tiran is the direct influence toward Tracer and carried over almost entirely in

it's conception into overwatch.

Since it was so direct, it was a relatively easy transfer from one project

to the other and gave the team that working prototype they needed to kick start the project.

Overwatch has gone through a lot of changes since the reveal a few years ago.

Game mechanics have been added or changed, game modes and events have been thrown in,

& heroes have been added and tweaked.

Some heroes even got complete reworks like Symmetra and

Bastion.

However tracer hasn't been touched.

Like, at all.

Maybe the only noteworthy change is that her Butt pose was removed way back after some

controversy, but as far as the hero herself gameplay wise?

Not a single tweak since the beginning of Closed beta.

Just bug fixes and additions to her cosmetic lineup.

This is HUGE when you stop to think about it as balancing 23 heroes around eachother,

maps, game play, modes, competitive, and more is a massive undertaking that requires constant

maintenance and reworking of the entire formula, let alone individual heroes.

The complete lack of changes to Tracer show off her stability in the roster and how comfortable

the development team is with keeping her right where she should be.

Tracer is a solid hero in just about any situation and has a good number of counters while still

being a counter to many heroes herself.

Her damage is good and her mobility is second to none.

Her ultimate does exactly what it's intended to do with a decent level of skill required

to land it properly.

All balanced quite nicely with a super-small health pool making her more challenging to

play and master.

Everyone knows that tracer can blink and recall and generally annoy enemy players by doing

so.

But how she does it, you may not know.

Earlier we talked about that accident that had Tracer slipping in and out of time and

space and generally making her life a living hell, but luckily, Tracer has some super-smart

friends that were there to figure things out.

One super smart friend in particular, Winston, was able to design a device that would sort

of "anchor" Tracer into the present and prevent her from disappearing without control.

The chronal accelerator is the chest piece she wears and keeps her right where she wants

to be.

Without it, she has no control over when and where she blinks out of time.

The unintentional side effects of the device are even greater control over her chronal

displacement allowing her to "blink" and "recall" which are her primary abilities

in the game.

Tracer is also capable of removing her chronal accelerator and still maintain her point in

time.

This is shown to occur at least twice in Reflections, the Blizzard comic featuring tracer.

Blizzard later stated on Social media that, as long as Tracer is in the vicinity of her

chronal accelerator, she can maintain her point in time.

Here's a fun one: Bet you didn't know that Tracer's hair was originally black,

instead of brown.

In some early concept art pieces you can see the color difference!

Now, it may not be game-changing or a huge thing to some people, but a color difference

in design can actually change the attitude, mood, and presence of a character.

Brown hair and freckles, for example, can generally be seen as more "cute" and "carefree",

while jet-black hair and a pale complexion can give off more a sullen and badass kind

of vibe.

Lots of heroes have had minor changes made from their concept art to the finished product

to make sure their visual appearance is in line with their lore and how they carry themselves

in and out of game.

A change in appearance can make a huge difference in how you perceive a hero!

Take Reaper's default skin and his Origin Skin.

His classic skin has the mask, hood, cloak, and a much more brooding and sinister look

about it.

The Origin skin, while still dark and mysterious, shows a much more human and relatable character.

If reaper just removed his mask in his classic skin, that would make a MASSIVE difference

in your perception of the hero just from looking at him.

Tracer may not have had the full-on bubbly, cute, care-free appearance she has today if

her hair had remained black!

While many people think they know all about Tracer because she was the first Overwatch

hero they saw and heard about, she's got a few things that you may not have known,

and hopefully you now have a better arsenal of Tracer Trivia at your disposal.

I hope you enjoyed the video and if you did, give it a like and subscribe down below.

Week 1: Microlearning - Duration: 2:45.

[music]

Greetings!

Phylise Banner here, Curator of the InSync Blended Learning Hub.

This week in the Hub, we launch a new learning campaign focused on microlearning, which we

define as a "means of delivering content to learners in brief, specific bursts and through

short-term learning activities."

We start out this campaign by exploring associated treatments and techniques that we can use

to meet the needs of our modern learners through both Push and Pull microlearning approaches.

Think about a time when you needed to learn how to do something quickly, right in that

moment, like maybe learning to tie a bowtie.

Maybe you asked a friend, or checked online for a quick video that could walk you through

the steps.

Right there.

That's microlearning.

We weave microlearning into our blended learning campaigns because we know our modern learners

appreciate the brevity and immediacy of microlearning.

And we know it can reinforce skills and knowledge outside of the longer more structured learning

events.

We recommend that you start off this week by downloading this month's coursemap, and

then reading this week's blog post.

Then have a look at the twelve microlearning methods that maximize outcomes in the infographic

to learn more about microlearning treatments and how they benefit modern blended learning.

Our live event this week features a Modern Learning Lab, where we'll discuss common challenges

and solutions to designing and developing microlearning.

It's always great to check in with each other on strategies for success, and with microlearning,

the field is wide open.

How long does it take you to create a three minute video?

Does it cost just as much as a thirty minute production?

How do you get stakeholders to understand the value of a short burst of learning that

didn't cost $10,000 to produce?

We have lots of questions to lead the discussion in this week's Modern Learning Lab and I hope

that you'll have time to join us.

And don't forget to download, share, and discuss this month's "Conversation Card."

This is a perfect example of microlearning at your finger tips, and we encourage you

to share the conversation out with your Personal Learning Networks.

You'll see that we added another installment in our series with Donna the Designer.

Follow the story as our instructional design superhero explains the power of storyboarding

for microlearning this week in the Hub.

Have a great week and let's look together for ways of determining the best microlearning

treatments for our blended learning scenarios.

See you online!

Top 5 Amazing Reasons Why You Should Start To Include A Banana In Your Meals Starting Today - Duration: 2:11.

Vitality Crunch Presents

Our top 5 reasons why you should start eating bananas!

Number 5 Energy Booster

Each banana contains three different kinds of sugar; Glucose, Fructose and Sucrose.

Your body quickly absorb glucose and fructose to give you an instant energy boost while

Sucrose is absorbed more slowly; this keeps your blood sugar level stable and ensures

you don't suffer the crash that comes with other sweet treats like candy and soda!

Studies have shown that just two bananas can provide enough energy for a 90 minutes workout!

Next time, if you are running low on energy just remember to eat a Banana!

Number 4 Aids In Weight Loss

An average banana contains about 3 grams of

fiber which is much more than a plum or a cup of sliced watermelon.

All that fiber can help you feel full and keep your cravings at bay.

Research shown that you don't even need to eat the banana to get the effect.

Just sniff it you can fool your brain into thinking you've already eaten one.

Number 3 Prevents Chronic Diseases

Each banana is packed with antioxidants that

protect you from chronic diseases such as heart attack, type II diabetes and cancer.

Number 2 Natural Mood Enhancer

Bananas contain tryptophan, a substance which

the body converts into the feel-good hormone that allows you to feel happy and calm!

Now we know why minions are constantly thinking about bananas!

Number 1 Makes You Smarter

The high potassium and magnesium levels in

a banana energise the brain and help improve focus so that you can stay alert for longer

and become more receptive to learning!

Various studies have shown that students improve their exam grades when they eat bananas throughout

the day.

Riding Lawn Mower Engine Cranks But Won't Start - Duration: 6:48.

Hi, Wayne here from Sears PartsDirect.

Today we're going to troubleshoot a riding lawn mower engine that spins but won't start

when the starter motor runs.

Once it's spinning, the engine needs 3 things to run—fuel, spark and compression.

Here's a quick test that can often eliminate 2 of those suspects right away.

We'll check to see if the engine has compression and spark by spraying a short burst of starter

fluid into the engine's cylinder.

The highly combustible starter fluid will start the engine briefly if the cylinder gets

spark and the right amount of compression.

In a well-ventilated area, pull off the air filter and spray a short burst of starter

fluid into the cylinder through the carburetor's air intake.

Now try to start the engine.

If the engine doesn't start at all, you can skip to the next section on fuel system

troubleshooting and move on to checking the ignition system.

If the engine starts briefly and then dies, you know the spark and compression are okay,

leaving you with a fuel supply problem.

A dirty carburetor is usually the culprit when the engine isn't getting fuel.

But, before you replace or rebuild the carburetor, check these basic fuel supply issues so you

don't waste money on a part that you don't need.

If the air filter you just pulled off is dirty, replace it.

You need a clean air filter so the right amount of air can mix with the fuel to start the

engine.

If you haven't used the mower for several months, drain and refill the fuel tank with

fresh gas.

Over time, gas absorbs water and loses combustibility.

In the future, if you don't use up all the gas before storing your riding mower for several

months, add fuel stabilizer to your gas tank.

A clogged fuel filter won't allow gas to flow to the carburetor.

Replace the fuel filter if you haven't changed it within the last year.

Here's a video that shows you how.

The fuel solenoid valve shuts off fuel to the carburetor to prevent backfire when you

kill the engine.

If the wire's disconnected, the solenoid won't open to allow fuel to flow to the carburetor.

Check the wire harness connection on the fuel solenoid valve.

Reconnect the valve wire harness if you find it disconnected.

Check the fuel line from the fuel tank to the carburetor for clogs or damage.

Clear any clogs and replace the fuel line if damaged.

If your engine has a fuel pump, replace the pump if it doesn't move gas through the fuel

line to the carburetor.

If you found no problems when checking these fuel system issues, then rebuild or replace

the carburetor to restore the fuel supply to your engine.

If your engine didn't start with the help of starter fluid, check the ignition system.

First, make sure you have the spark plug wire firmly connected to the plug.

Replace the ignition coil if you find damage to the spark plug wire because the wire is

part of the coil.

Here's a video that shows how.

If you found no problems with the spark plug wire, pull the wire off and remove the spark

plug.

Check the spark plug tip for carbon or oil deposits that could prevent the plug from

sparking.

Also, check for cracks in the plug's insulator.

Replace the spark plug if the plug's too fouled to spark or the insulator is cracked.

If the spark plug looks okay, use a spark plug tester to see if the plug it getting

current from the ignition coil.

To test it, install the spark plug and connect the boot of the tester to the spark plug.

Connect the engine's spark plug wire to the other end of the tester.

Crank the engine and see if the tester sparks.

If the tester doesn't spark, it's likely you need to replace the ignition coil.

If the plug sparks, that means the ignition coil is good, but the timing for the spark

might be off.

Here's how the timing works on a riding mower engine.

The flywheel magnet and ignition coil control spark timing.

When the flywheel magnet passes the ignition coil, the coil generates and sends current

to the spark plug, causing the spark.

The flywheel key keeps the flywheel aligned on the engine crankshaft so the magnet passes

the ignition coil at the right time.

The flywheel key is a small metal rectangle that keeps the crankshaft and flywheel aligned

when you tighten the flywheel bolt.

To protect expensive engine components from damage, the flywheel key shears if a mower

blade hits an object with enough force to make the flywheel slip out of alignment with

the crankshaft.

If you hit a rock or stump and the engine suddenly stops, you may have knocked off the

timing by damaging or breaking the flywheel key.

A damaged flywheel key means the magnet won't pass the ignition coil at the right time for

the spark plug to ignite the fuel to start and run the engine.

If this scenario sounds familiar because you did hit an object while mowing and the engine

stopped, remove the flywheel and check that key.

Replace the flywheel key if you find damage.

Here's a video that shows you how.

If you find no problems with the ignition system, then a compression problem could be

preventing the engine from starting.

Check the oil level to see if the engine is overfilled.

Drain some oil to drop it below the maximum fill level.

If the oil level is okay, pull out the spark plug and check cylinder compression using

a compression gauge.

This test shows whether the piston is compressing the air and fuel mixture in the cylinder.

Connect the compression gauge to the cylinder through the spark plug hole.

Zero the compression gauge.

Briefly turn the key to the start position so the starter motor spins the engine.

Check the compression reading.

Most engines should measure over 40 psi of compression.

Many engines produce more than 80 psi.

If cylinder compression is less than 40 psi, the piston isn't compressing air inside the

cylinder.

Keep in mind that a low compression reading shows you that a compression problem exists,

but doesn't reveal the cause.

You might need to adjust the valves or replace the piston rings.

A damaged cylinder wall can also prevent the piston from compressing air inside the cylinder.

To accurately analyze a compression problem, have a service technician do a leak-down test

on the engine.

The technician will use an air compressor and special tools to find where air leaks.

Once the technician finds the cause of the compression problem and fixes it, you can

get back to mowing.
