Choosing a Portfolio Piece that Reflects You w/ Kendra Croft | We Are Next - Duration: 1:17.
That was my favorite piece.
Not the strongest, didn't showcase headlines, but it showcased thinking and it showcased
me.
Which was something I thought was—you're getting me.
I need you to know you're getting me from the jump.
No surprises.
I think that's good advice, especially when you're going into an interview situation where
they've seen your whole portfolio.
Hopefully they've looked through at least at top glance, and so to go in and just be
like, "Here, this, this, this..." is not serving you in any way.
Being able to pull out one or two and really dig into why.
And you can tell.
You can hear it in their voices when they're like, "This one is my favorite and it's the
first one," and I'm like, you've said this answer so many times that I know it's not
even—that's your script.
You don't really care, so then I try to poke holes and try to bring out who you actually
are because again, it goes back to who are you.
You have to infuse into your work, infuse into the company.
The company is getting you for your mind.
We're literally, creatives, we are our minds, so showcase your strongest part in the most
authentic way.

Why You Should Not Have Tea on an Empty Stomach - Duration: 2:06.
When you get a good nights sleep and wake up in the morning, your body is low on energy.
It needs food to recharge your batteries.
In such a condition the first thing that many people do is have a cup of tea.
Different places drink different kinds of tea in the morning – black tea, herbal tea,
milk tea and green tea being among the most popular types of tea.
The one thing common - is that all of them are served hot.
Today we are going to explain why this is an unhealthy habit.
When you have anything on an empty stomach your body tries to digest it quickly considering
it needs energy.
Digestive juices are released to digest the tea.
The digestive juices and the hot tea mix together inside your stomach and form a liquid which
has an extremely low pH.
This will slowly degrade your inner stomach lining.
This can create stomach ulcers and is the perfect place for bacteria such as helicobacter
pylori to settle in.
Now, because your body needs energy, it tries to absorb nutrients from the stomach lining
which contain small blood vessels.
This tends to lower the pH of the blood.
When you do this everyday it can lead to your blood pH permanently becoming low.
This condition is called acidosis.
This can cause severe problems in the kidneys and liver leading to lifestyle diseases such
as gallbladder stones, varicocele and migraines.
The solution is simple.
Every time you want to have tea, just eat something cooked along with it.
Understanding your body will help you live a long and healthy life.

(News)Can you pass the world's shortest IQ test? - Duration: 3:03.
Can you pass the world's shortest IQ test?
The Cognitive Reflection Test has been hailed as the world's shortest IQ test as it features just three questions, The Sun reports.
Each one is designed to assess your abilities to identify a simple problem that might actually be harder than it first appears.
Not only do experts claim that getting the right answer is a sign of genius, but also the time frame in which you come up with your solution. TAKE THE WORLD'S SHORTEST IQ TEST.
A bat and a ball cost $1.10 in total. The bat costs $100 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?.
If it takes five machines five minutes to make five widgets, how long would it take 100 machines to make 100 widgets?. In a lake, there is a patch of lily pads. Every day, the patch doubles in size.
If it takes 48 days for the patch to cover the entire lake, how long would it take for the patch to cover half of the lake?.
ANSWERS. Now you've had a crack at the questions, the chances are you answered 10 cents for question one, 100 minutes for question two and 24 days for question three.
If you did, you are wrong. Scroll down to see the correct answers to the test, and the workings behind each one.
The ball would actually cost five cents. If the bat costs $1 more than the bat, you need to think outside the box.
While it might be easy to assume that the ball is 10 cents, that would make the bat $1. 10 as it costs $1 MORE than the ball.
In order to keep the total at $1. 10, the ball HAS to be five cents — and the bat is worth $105.
It would take five minutes to make 100 widgets. Five machines can make five widgets in five minutes. This means that one machine will make a widget in five minutes, too.
Therefore, 100 machines all making widgets can make 100 widgets in five minutes. It would take 47 days for the patch to cover half of the lake.
The patch is doubling in size each day it is going forward, so it would halve going backwards. This means that on day 47, the day before it covered the whole lake, it would be halfway there.

Using Passion to Overcome the Fear of Speaking Up w/ Dave Oakes | We Are Next - Duration: 2:01.
I feel like you always have the words, you just don't know the best way to say them.
In your mind you know what you need to say, but you just don't, and there's some kind
of block there.
And for me, it was being put on a client that I was really passionate about.
We pitched Activision, and underneath that Guitar Hero, and I love video games even today.
So there was this thing that I was really passionate about and I knew a lot about.
I probably knew more about it than anybody in the agency.
So it was my job to step up and say, "I know this."
At the time my Account Director was Leslie, and I was like, "Put me on this.
I will be the encyclopedia for the agency.
I'll speak about it however anybody wants.
Ask me a question."
And that's where it really clicked to me that I could walk up to a creative and have somebody
like Andrew Keller ask me, "Is this song on this game?," and I'm like, "Yes!
And this song, and blah blah blah."
So when you have a passion about something, it's really easy to get over that hump.
I think that was the first time I really found my voice, and what I could be for the agency.
I think you just have to be passionate about something.
Totally, and maybe for things that you aren't necessarily passionate about—maybe you're
put on something that you're not super excited about, or you just have no experience or no
idea about it.
Doing whatever you can to become a quasi-expert on it, because you're definitely going to
be feeling more comfortable talking to it if you have a little background, if you can
become the person in the room that's like, "Hey, I know the most about this really obscure
subject."
Say you get put on a credit card account.
It might sound boring, but if you do research and you learn more about it, and you can connect
dots that people are talking about in a meeting, it really clicks in your head.
And then that makes you passionate about it.
I feel like no matter what the account is or the client is, do your research, love it,
own it.
And you start to get more passionate about things.
You might uncover stuff that you didn't even know was interesting to you.

Take Action if You're Not Happy at Your Agency w/ Mariam Guessous | We Are Next - Duration: 1:06.
Exactly, and as long as you are able to create from an authentic place at an agency, you're
good.
But the second you feel like you need to censor yourself is when you need to start looking
at other agencies.
It doesn't mean you have to leave the industry.
It means maybe you need to just switch teams.
Maybe you need to move to another agency.
Maybe you need to speak to your manager and tell them about how you like to work or whatever.
But the most important thing to do is to take action, and not just sit there and wait for
things to get better.
Because they will not, and I had to learn that the hard way.
But I live to tell the tale.
Always take action.
If you're not fully comfortable and happy where you are, make a move.
Don't sit there until it's too late, and you have to do so much damage control to even
find yourself again.
As a creative, you have to practice radical self-care, because our brains are all we have.
You need to nurture it, always.
