Whoo!

I'm still alive!

Man, it has been a pretty crazy last few weeks.

Survived Hurricane Irma taking a beating to Florida.

Flooding everywhere, half my city was underwater for a while, it was nuts.

But now everything's pretty much back to normal, the sun's out, life's good and

things are looking up.

Alright, breaking news this morning.

Credit reporting company Equifax says personal information of 143 million people has been

compromised -

[pained crying]

What is up, my fellow Money Minions!

My name is Troy, also known as - the Dollar Dude.

How have you been?

Welcome back to another video, and as all the money minions out there know, we talk

personal finance and building a life full of financial freedom here and we keep it as

simple as and real-world as possible.

If you're down with that and you're not yet a minion, hit that subscribe button and

that little bell icon next to it so you don't miss a second of all this chocolate.

What did you think I meant?

#kingsize

Ugh.

Equifax.

I'm a little late to the party - I'm sure you've all heard about this by now.

143 million people compromised, names, birthdates, addresses, social security numbers.

Equifax, come on!

I thought we had an understanding.

I've even written you letters in previous videos.

"My dearest, darling Equifax.

I know it's been a while since I last wrote."

"You and I - heh, we always had kind of a love-hate relationship."

'Cause apparently, you have no idea what the heck you are doing.

You don't deserve this fedora!

So people are livid, right?

Heads are rolling, the chief security officer and the CEO just "retired", things are

pretty bad over there.

But none of that matters, because the important part is this - 143 million consumers had their

personal information exposed.

This is serious.

So Equifax went into full damage control mode and set up a site where people could sign

up for a year of free credit monitoring.

Setting aside the fact that 1 year is not even close to enough - ramifications from

this could last well into the next decade - they also hid in the fine print that if

you signed up, you waive your right to join a class-action and agree to arbitration instead.

...a.k.a., you can't sue them for this.

I'm sorry, what?

And only after a huge amount of backlash did they drop it (or quote unquote "clarify")

that the auto opt into arbitration wouldn't apply to this data breach.

Still if you want to sign up for the 1 year of monitoring, I highly recommend you send

a letter certified mail within 30 days, explicitly stating you do not wish to be subject to binding

arbitration.

Aka, it's my data and I'll sue if I want to.

Better safe than sorry.

But yeah, in my opinion, I just say forget all that and not even bother with Equifax's

credit monitoring.

So what can you do?

I'm sure I don't have to tell you that identify theft is no joke and can take years

to try and clear up once it happens.

Let me know down in the comments if you or someone you know has ever been a victim of

identity theft, and how you handled that - also, any tips or tricks that you now use to keep

it from happening again.

Bottom line, take the steps to protect yourself.

I'm going to tell you what you should be doing right now.

Listen up, this one's important.

First thing you need to do is get your credit reports.

Remember, in the 4 Tips on How to Write A Dispute Letter video, which you watched, right?

I already told all the money minions out there how to do this, but in case you missed that

one, you're going to want to go to annualcreditreport.com.

Totally, 100% free to get your credit reports from each of the three bureaus once a year,

or every 4 months if you space them out.

Second thing I'd recommend is signing up for a free monitoring service like CreditKarma

or CreditSesame that allows you to monitory your reports yourself.

CreditSesame lets you pull an update every month, and CreditKarma lets you pull an update

every 7 days, but since it takes about 30 days for any new information to pop up on

your credit report anyway, it's pretty much the same thing.

Both of these services will try to suggest credit cards and other financial products

to you based off of your history.

That's how they make their money, it's fine, you don't gotta get mad, you can just

ignore it.

What you're looking for here is a free way to keep an eye on your credit reports more

frequently than annualcreditreport.com can give to you by itself, because the most frequent

you can keep an eye on that is pulling one bureau's report every 4 months.

Number 3, look into getting identity theft insurance.

It's not too late to look into identity theft protection because of this breach.

This isn't the first data breach and it sure won't be the last, and it's a good

bet to have this stuff in place.

Lots of places offer good plans on identity theft insurance, I know Zander Insurance is

one, off the top of my head.

Now you man say, "eh, identity theft protection is just a ripoff cause if your identity is

stolen, you're protected, the banks refund your money anyway."

That's right, for the most part they do.

But you're missing the point.

If you do lose money, the insurance will reimburse you, of course.

But the main benefit is not having to deal with spending hours and hours, day after day

on the phone or in the banker's office trying to clear this mess up.

Ain't nobody got time for that!

Your time is valuable and identity theft protection is meant to save you from all that hassle.

So it's a good idea to have it in place, believe me.

Number 4, and this is the BIG one: Think about putting a credit freeze in place.

Freezing your credit pretty much locks down your credit report and no new accounts can

be opened on it.

You can still use any open accounts just fine, but you can't create any new ones.

Each of the bureaus you do this with will provide you a security PIN number that you'll

have to provide back to them If you ever want to unfreeze it.

Now, freezing your credit reports is kind of like chopping an onion with a circular

saw.

For some people, it might be a little much.

If you've put in the work and time and saved up the 10% down payment for a house and you

were just about to go for it when this happened, well then, freezing your credit probably isn't

the best choice for you right now.

But it's an option for all of us.

But hey, if you're debt free and plan to stay that way, go ahead and freeze your credit

cause it's not like you're using it anyway.

Once your credit is frozen, that does NOT mean your job is done.

If you still have open credit accounts, you still need to keep a regular eye on those.

Freezing your credit only keeps new accounts from being opened without your say so.

It does not lock down your existing accounts, got it?

Those numbers can still be stolen and used by whoever.

You do have to call each bureau individually to initiate a credit freeze.

All three - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

Now it does cost a fee to do a freeze, Equifax has waived their fee because they're the

reason we're all in this mess, but Experian and TransUnion do have fees and they vary

by the state you're in.

When you call them up, some of them may try to talk you into "locking" your credit

report for free instead of "freezing" it.

I know TransUnion is one bureau that does this for sure.

What's the difference?

Well a credit lock is free, but it still allows the bureaus to sell your information to companies

for those pre-approved offers you get in the mail sometimes.

But, if you freeze your credit, they can't do anything with it, by law, without your

approval.

If you want to do a freeze to protect yourself, then do a freeze to protect yourself.

Don't let someone on the phone talk you out of it if that's what you want to do.

Look down below in the description, I've got the numbers you need to call for all three

bureaus if you want to do this.

Cause I got your back, fam.

By the way, if you choose to do a credit freeze, the phone numbers are getting slammed right

now, obviously.

Call in the middle of the night if you have to.

You'll get through eventually.

This Equifax data leak is a pretty bad situation nationwide, but hey, if you take the steps

to protect yourself and protect your financial freedom, then we can all breathe a tiny bit

easier.

And I'm all for that.

And this one is done guys, I'm so glad to be back.

Natalie Morales launches furious Twitter tirade at 'horrifying' paparazzi over invasive photos - Duration: 5:49.

Natalie Morales has hit out at a photographer who she claimed "purposefully" took invasive photos of her in a bid to manufacture a "wardrobe malfunction" at the premiere of Battle of the Sexes.

The actress, who plays tennis star Rosie Casals in the new film, said the incident left her 'horrified' after "one of the happiest moments of my life thus far".

Morales vented her anger at the photographer – who she didn't name – in a lengthy Twitter rant.

She tweeted: "So someone sent me photos of me having what they called a 'wardrobe malfunction' at last weekend's premiere of Battle of the Sexes

which was one of the happiest moments of my life thus far. These are pictures they PURPOSELY took up my skirt TO GET A SHOT of my vag."

The actress accused the photographer of trying to "exploit" her body, and said she shouldn't be victim to invasive angles simply because she wanted to flash her leg.

She said that she wouldn't have been embarrassed even if the photographer had managed to take a photo of her "bits" but that they should feel embarrassed for making the attempt.

She said that she wouldn't have been embarrassed even if the photographer had managed to take a photo of her "bits" but that they should feel embarrassed for making the attempt.

Morales later posted a statement in which she said her first instinct was to "ignore [the photos] and move on," but that she decided to "not let it slide" because it happens to women all of the time.

She said the act is part of a far bigger problem "with how we tear down women and reduce them to a sum of body parts, to be at once both sexualised and shamed."

Fellow actress Emma Watson previously called out a photographer who she accused of laying down and taking photos up her skirt after she celebrated her 18th birthday.

Recalling the incident to Esquire she said: "I remember on my 18th birthday I came out of my birthday party and photographers laid down on the pavement and took photographs up my skirt,

which were then published on the front of the English tabloid [newspapers] the next morning.

"If they had published the photographs 24 hours earlier they would have been illegal, but because I had just turned 18 they were legal."

North Korea threatens to shoot down U.S. warplanes | North Korea and the United States‬‬ - Duration: 3:16.

North Korea threatened on Monday to shoot down U.S. military planes, even if they are not in the country's airspace, arguing that President Trump's bellicose tweets amount to a declaration of war.

The remark by Ri Yong Ho, Pyongyang's foreign minister, represented another escalation in tensions stoked by a series of insults and threats hurled between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and his regime. Even though Pyongyang's military capability is considered far outmatched by U.S.

technology and pilot training, Ri's rhetoric raised anxieties that a simple miscalculation could spark a military confrontation and spiral out of control.

North Korea's willingness to shoot down U.S. aircraft is not in question. It has done so before, most notably in 1969, during the Nixon administration, when a Navy plane on a reconnaissance mission was downed by North Korean MiGs over the Sea of Japan, or East Sea.

All 31 Americans on board were killed. There was no retaliation, and the United States resumed reconnaissance flights off the coast of North Korea a week later.

The United States and North Korea, which have technically remained in a suspended state of war since the 1953 armistice, have had other saber-rattling standoffs.

In 1976, for example, North Korean soldiers axed to death two U.S. service members who ventured into the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea, leading President Gerald R. Ford to put all U.S. troops in South Korea on the highest level of military readiness.

In 1981, a North Korean surface-to-air missile was fired at a U.S. reconnaissance plane flying near the DMZ, but it missed.

It is unknown whether North Korea has the ability to challenge the U.S. Air Force today. Most of its surface-to-air missiles and fighter planes are decades old, many dating to the 1950s and 1960s, when they were acquired from the Soviet Union.

It is unknown whether North Korea has the ability to challenge the U.S. Air Force today. Most of its surface-to-air missiles and fighter planes are decades old, many dating to the 1950s and 1960s, when they were acquired from the Soviet Union.

"If there is a war, South Korean and U.S. military pilots will soon become aces as they shoot down North Korean aircraft," said David Maxwell, a retired Army Special Forces colonel who served in Korea and now is associate director of the Center for Security Studies at Georgetown University. "The North Korean air force is no match for them."

Army Col. Robert Manning III, a Pentagon spokesman, said Monday that North Korea's threat to shoot down American warplanes will not change U.S. military operations. U.S.

bomber flights conducted this weekend off the Korean Peninsula's east coast occurred in international airspace, where the Pentagon has a right to fly, he said.

Daniel Nations: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | CaCao TV - Duration: 17:22.

Daniel Nations: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

El Paso Sheriffs Office/Twitter Daniel Nations.

A sex offender is suspected of threatening people with a hatchet near a bike trail in Colorado and police say he could be connected to two other unsolved cases, including the killing of a cyclist near where the hatchet threats occurred and the unsolved murders of two girls in Delphi, Indiana.

Daniel Nations, 31, is currently being held only on a weapons charge, and police have not released details about why they think he could be tied to the other cases, KCNC-TV reports.

He was arrested Monday in Teller County, Colorado. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is still investigating him as a suspect in the threats, which occurred on a hiking trail there, according to the news station.

The threats were reported just days after a bicyclist, Tim Watkins, was shot and killed in the same area, on Mt. Nations has not been charged in Watkins' death.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office also said authorities in Indiana are looking into whether there is any connection to the deaths of Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14, who were killed on a trail in Delphi in February 2017, KCNC reports.

Police have released a photo and sketch of the killer, but the case has remained unsolved for several months, despite thousands of tips and nationwide attention. Here's what you need to know:.

Nations Admitted to Having a Hatchet in His Car When Stopped by Police, but Says He Never Threatened Anyone. Daniel Nations was stopped about 3 p.m. by police Monday in Woodland Park, Colorado, KKTV reports. .

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office told the news station that the red Chevrolet Prizm with Indiana license plates was identified in several tips regarding menacing complaints in the Mount Herman area, and in the town of Monument.

Police said the car was spotted after several people, including bicyclists, were threatened by a "hatchet man," according to police. Nations was questioned at the scene and booked into the Teller County Jail on a weapons charge at 9 p.

According to an affidavit obtained by KRDO-TV, a woman, Katelyn Nations, and two children were also in the car. Katelyn Nations was not arrested.

Police in Woodland Park said they spotted the red Chevrolet with expired Indiana license plates and a broken taillight in an Arby's parking lot.

The officers waited until a man and a woman, later identified as Daniel and Katelyn Nations, got into the car, and then pulled it over. The officers split up the couple and questioned them, according to the affidavit.

Katelyn Nations told police she had a .22 rifle in the car's trunk. She said she purchased it for protection after the car was broken into, according to police.

Katelyn Nations also told the officers that she had broken the taillight when she hit a tree earlier Monday. Police ran her name and found she had warrants for failure to appear in court, but they were non-extraditable, so she was released.

Daniel Nations told police he had a hatchet in his car, but said he never threatened anyone with it, KRDO reports. He told police, "We're not that kind of people," according to the affidavit.

He did say that someone had run them off the road and he shook his fist out of the car window at them.

Nations also had non-extraditable failure to appear warrants, but was arrested on a charge of being a previous offender in possession of a weapon, police said.

Watkins Was Found Dead of a Gunshot Wound 3 Days After He Disappeared.

Police have not yet officially said if they believe the hatchet threats Daniel Nations is suspected of are connected to the death of Tim Watkins, 60, a popular bicyclist who was found shot to death near a Mount Herman bike trail on September 17, KOAA-TV reports.

He had last been seen on September 14. Police have called Watkins death a homicide, but have not named Nations as a suspect.

Watkins was heavily involved in the mountain biking community in El Paso County and had trails named after him, according to KUSA-TV.

"He was such a legend in the mountain bike community," bike designer Jeff Tessier told KCNC-TV.  "You were always proud to be one of his friends because he was loved by so many people.

His daughter, Arielle Watkins, told the Colorado Springs Gazette, "He was the most big-hearted, wonderful, caring, loving (person) on the planet. He was my best friend. He was my role model.".

Palmer Lake resident Adam Guller told the news station, "If you knew Tim, he was an incredible human being." Guller and others are convinced police have captured their friend's killer. "Thank God they got someone," Guller told KCNC.

"It's got to be the guy , it's got to be the guy," Palmer Lake resident Anthony Ramos told the news station.

The Sheriff's Office Says There Are 'Many Similarities' to the Delphi Killings, but Would Not Elaborate. Abigail "Abby" Williams, left, and Liberty "Libby" German. (Facebook).

El Paso County Sheriff spokesman Jacque Kirby told KCNC-TV that there are "many similarities" between the cases they are investigating and the February deaths of the two teen girls in Delphi, but would not elaborate because Indiana State Police have asked them to not release other details to the public.

"They have asked us not to speak on their case. So I'm not at liberty to elaborate on anything that's related to what happened in Indiana," said Kirby told the news station.

Sergeant Kim Riley, a spokesman for the Indiana State Police, told WLFI-TV that they are investigating every lead brought to their attention, and the Colorado tip is no exception. He told WBBM-TV that it is too early to draw a connection between the cases:.

Please keep in mind the Indiana State Police has received more than a thousand photos of persons alleged to be similar in appearance to the composite sketch of the Delphi person of interest.

Each and everyone of these tips are investigated for any potential connection to our case. We will give the same attention to the person arrested in Colorado, but right now there is nothing that definitively connects this person to our investigation.

If that should change — with this tip, or any other tip — rest assured we would be sharing such news with all media sources.

Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, were found dead on February 14, one day after they disappeared while hiking on abandoned railroad tracks that are part of a popular hiking trail in Delphi, Indiana.

The case has been investigated as a double homicide. Police released a photo of the man they believe to be the killer taken on Libby's cell phone before she was killed.

They also released a sketch of the possible suspect. You can see those photos below:.

Indiana State PolicePolice in Indiana have released a sketch of the man they say killed two teen girls, Abigail Williams and Liberty German, in Delphi.

He is seen at right in a photo taken from the cell phone of one of the victims.

Indiana authorities have also released a short audio clip of the suspect saying what they believe to be "down the hill. " You can listen to that clip below:.

The girls, from Delphi, in Carroll County, were reported missing by their family on Monday, February 13.

Abby Williams and Libby German were dropped off by family members at trails near the "Monon High Bridge" just east of their hometown of Delphi about 1 p.m.

The middle school friends did not have class on Monday because of a snow-day built into the calendar, according to community members.

Hundreds of people, including police, firefighters, family, friends and residents of the surrounding community, searched for the girls into the night Monday and again Tuesday morning. The bodies were found about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Abigail Williams is seen in the final Snapchat photo posted by Liberty German. (Facebook). The girls posted an eerie final photo on Snapchat before they disappeared, according to WRTV.

The photo, which you can see above, was posted about 2 p.m. It was taken by Liberty German and shows Abigail Williams walking along the railroad bridge. Liberty posted it to her Snapchat account.

According to police and family members, the girls phones pinged in multiple locations but were shut off shortly after they were reported missing.

Abby Williams, left, and Libby German. (Facebook). An autopsy was completed, and police confirmed Williams and German were the victims of a double homicide.

Authorities have not released a cause of death, and say further testing, including toxicology reports, are still being completed. "There is someone out there that did this crime and we're going to track them down," Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby told reporters.

"Folks should continue with business as usual but be more mindful and watch your surroundings a little closer. We're going to get to the bottom of this, we feel confident.". Riley said parents should keep an eye on their children.

"I think people need to be cautious and careful," Riley said. "Parents should make sure they know where their children are and what their children are doing, and if nothing else, know what's going on in their lives.

That's the most important thing I can say at this point in time.".

A reward of more than $230,000 has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the Delphi killings. You can read more about the murders at the link below:.

Nations, Convicted of Indecent Exposure in South Carolina, Is Listed as a 'Non-Compliant' Sex Offender in Indiana. Daniel Nations in mugshots taken in 2011 and 2010.

Daniel Nations has been a registered sex offender since 2007 after he was convicted of indecent exposure in Beaufort, South Carolina, that year, the state's sex offender database shows.

Details of that conviction were not immediately available. He served two years in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

Nations also registered as a sex offender in Florida in 2012 after moving there, according to that state's database.

But his last known address was listed as being in Martinsville, Indiana, in Morgan County. Martinsville is about 100 miles south of Delphi. He has also lived in Greenwood, which is about the same distance away from Delphi.

The Indiana sex offender registry shows that Nations is "non-compliant," because he has not reported his whereabouts to police. "WANTED IN JOHNSON COUNTY FOR FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT AND FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER," the sex offender registry says.

He has also been convicted of domestic abuse in Indiana, KRDO-TV reports.

Nations is originally from Chesnee, South Carolina, and is the father of a young daughter, according to his Facebook profile.  In the intro section of his profile he wrote, "my daughter is my life.

And in the about section, he said, "life…. it's not about me… It's about you and our daughter!" and "I hope at my heavenly appointment God will judge me by my heart and not my actions!".

In May 2016, he wrote on Facebook, "Thank you God for touching my heart and making me a better person. " He also wrote, "I am human… I have made mistakes….

But I am not a bad person! I believe that God sent his son to die for us on the cross…and I love what's left of my family….

So I wish people would stop treating me like I am scum! And if you care about me then show it don't just say it".

In another post that same month, he wrote, "God why do some people say one thing to your face and do another when your not around….

They say they want to be in your life but when your not there they couldn't be bothered less… I swear sometimes ppl just like to toy with your emotions just to see how you will react.

Nations posted on Facebook that he served in the Marines, but details of his service were not immediately available.

He wrote, "Marines do not know how to give up " the chips are all in" when it comes to anything we put our minds too…. Die or die trying…. Till my last breath I will never give up.".
