What $4,000 Will Get You In NYC | Sweet Digs | Refinery29 - Duration: 7:22.

Hey, you guys are here early.

Before you come in subscribe to Refinery29.

You clicked below?

Alright come on in.

Hey guys what's up?

My name is Julia, I'm a filmmaker here in Brooklyn I'm normally on the other side

of the camera so this is weird but welcome to my house.

I live on the boarder of Bushwick and Ridgewood it's about 45 minutes outside of the city.

I love my neighborhood it's filled with a lot of

awesome neighbors who lived on the block for over 40–50 years.

There's a lot of life here and it's really great.

I live in a four-bedroom apartment it actually used to be two separate units that were combined

into one so we have so much space.

My rent for the entire apartment is $4,000 I pay $1,000 for my room each month I feel

like that's a pretty inexpensive price overall, we kind of did the compromise of living farther

from the city so we could get more space at a more inexpensive price.

So, this is our living room I would say that all of the furniture is really collect we

thrifted almost all of it the architecture of the building is pre-war mixed with new

appliances so I think that we tried to mirror that in our home style.

I live with a bunch of artist and we keep it colorful.

My most exciting home find was actually my living room table I found it in Baltimore

when I was in art school for

$85 I had absolutely no money then but I just couldn't pass it up so I ate ramen for a

week so I could get it and I've lived with it in five different apartments.

When I was in art school in Baltimore I was sitting painting and then half way through

I realized that I wanted my paintings to move so I switch to video and completely changed

industry's and I really miss that part about my life so much I don't really paint anymore

so it's really nice living with three other painters and just

being able to tap into that past life via them this mermaid is one of my favorite pieces

in this room.

I think it's because my mom loves mermaids and it makes me think of her.

Let's go over to one out of the two kitchens I love this space I'm a huge foody and having

the counter space to cook is awesome.

For Memorial Day, we had our first barbeque in the apartment and it was so much fun.

I love how food bring all my friends all together.

This is my first New York apartment with a dishwasher.

Oh My God!

It is such a game changer the thing that's makes me feel the most adult is my kitchenware

especially my pots and pans.

I'm Italian so pasta Sunday was something I grew up with and this pot is actually awesome

because I don't even have to take the lid off to strain the water, highly recommend

its apart of this ceramic coated set that I got from target.

I love entertaining guest and I love cooking so it feels really nice to just have a full

set.

I can just like look super professional and I feel like I have a real home now.

My roommate actually found the apartment I was out of town the entire month and she sent

me pictures and said, "I'm signing the lease with or without you do you like this

apartment I need to know by today" Just based off of the pictures alone I knew that

it was such a unique space and I agreed to it and I'm so glad that we did.

This is my bathroom as you can see it is a little bit small but it does the job.

I love the tile walls

one of my biggest pet-peeves is when my roommate leaves the shower curtain open after she showers

it just looks so much tidier when the shower curtain is closed.

I also really love these towels because they have this loop so I can hang them up on the

wall and keeps everything organized.

In a shared space, it's all about organization.

This is my washer-dryer, we actually have two of them one on each floor it changed my

life.

This is our second kitchen it's not fully functional because we don't have an oven

it's more of just our party/studio kitchen.

But we do have a second fridge which is super clutch.

This is my computer desk.

The computer was definitely a huge splurge but I really needed a good editing work station

and I like the way its set up so it motivates me to sit here and be here.

Organization is really important to me, so

I have all my wires right here I have this clear container that I keep all my hard-drives

in.

I actually named each hard drive after Greek god or goddess so that's kind of funny.

This is all my roommates studio space like I said I don't paint anymore which is kind

of sad it's nice being around their paintings it brings so much life into the apartment.

Alright come on in to my bedroom, my style is all about just finding things and trying to

make it work

I get a lot of things from friends.

This plant was from my Greg.

I love how much space I have but it was really awkward trying to configure everything so

I had to turn my bed sideways, but it's actually awesome for watching TV and stuff

especially if like I have a friend over or something.

This is my reading nook I collect vintage magazines and it's just really fun to come

through and look at them.

Sitting in this spot makes me feel like I'm not even in New York

which is, kind of cool.

Maybe it's because I'm so far from the city.

My most sentimental piece in my apartment is probably a picture of my grandparents.

Their sitting outside their first apartment and they just look really, really cute and their young and

I love it.

So this is my closet the ironic thing about all the color is that I usually have to wear

black for my job, but I love wearing colorful clothes on my free time.

I collect a bunch of accessories especially scarves

so this mesh organizer is really perfect so that I can see what's there I also love

this organizer.

It's perfect.

It's so versatile plus, I get to put all my chachees and stuff on it.

It fits perfectly within my small space.

And then the last thing and also one of my favorite things about my room is these smart

lights.

I can just control the lighting from my phone "Savana Sunset" this one is my favorite.

Oh you guys found me! This is our backyard.

My favorite part about the apartment is definitely the backyard I have direct access through

my bedroom and in the summer it's just so nice to go out there and garden.

I love coming out here I have basil, mint, rosemary, chives I cook with it all the time

I would say an aspect of my life is really reflected in my home is that

I'm an artist at heart and I love looking at cool things.

My roommates and I are really cognoscente of the energy within our apartment every couple

months, we try to arrange the furniture just to keep it fresh.

That's a wrap on my sweet digs!

Insect Repellent That Actually Works? Waging War on Florida's Bugs 🕷️ | JEN TALKS FOREVER - Duration: 7:50.

Hi I'm Jen and I have decided to wage war on all of the bugs in the state of

Florida since we moved back to Florida there's one thing that has not been

awesome and that is the insect population who've decided to make me

their 24-hour fast-food restaurant I've literally been getting eaten alive I

can't even walk out to my car without getting bit up a bunch of times in fact

on the way down here I ended up getting bit by a spider and my foot swelled up I

ended up at Urgent Care kind of a bad situation and it's been really severe

ever since we've been back for the past few weeks I have mosquito bites

everywhere I even have a couple on my face so I've been doing some research

because I cannot live like this I feel like if you want someone to go slowly

and say this is the way to do it make them itchy all the time and let bugs

attack them they will go nuts so I've been doing some research and trying to

find some solutions to my problem now growing up I've always had this problem

camping whatever in fact I would go out to check the mail and get bit like 30

times so historically you know we're used to using off deep woods off and

well it works okay for your everyday life this is not a

good solution it stinks it's kind of sticky like everyone knows you're

wearing bug spray I did wear deep woods off to go to Trader Joe's a few days ago

and it was it was not great so I've been looking around for other options and I

found this small company called Sawyer they make like insect repellant but they

also do other products like water filtration systems that sort of thing

they're based in Safety Harbor so local company and I'm very proud and happy to

support a local business from the Tampa Bay area so I've decided to bring out

the big guns up my game I've purchased not one but two bottles of permethrin

you can spray this on clothing shoes like back

packs tents anything it has insect repelling properties and it lasts up to

six washes or like 42 days which looks promising so I'm gonna give this a try

out someone like clothing maybe some of the clothing items I wear the most

frequently I've also bought something called Picaridin lotion now this I

liked the sound of so I've been reading and apparently DEET while effective also

destroys your stuff which isn't cool so if you spray it on clothing plastic like

his sunglasses backpacks tents it can actually ruin the material so again for

everyday life maybe this isn't the best option because I don't want to go over

to someone's house and link to story their furniture or ruin their stuff you

know this could maybe even ruin my car upholstery who knows so Picaridin is

another chemical I guess it's like a synthetic compound of like the

chrysanthemum I'm not joking it was developed in the 80s and it is safer for

clothing and other materials so I like the fact that it's in a lotion and it

doesn't smell like bug spray so you can wear this a little more discreetly and

hopefully also protect yourself from insects so I will put a little bit of

this on just as a little bit of a demonstration my arms are the thing that

are most getting bit up so let's let's give this stuff of world my husband use

this to go fishing last night but he was not really in an area with a lot of bugs

so he said he didn't really get to test this out but I will be testing this out

over the next few weeks and Oh believe me I will report back if this stuff

works I'll let you know if it sucks I will also let you know and from what I'm

reading the reviews on Amazon are mostly really good but the thing I was seeing

is that like it's like it works really well on the areas you apply it to but if

you miss a spot you'll still get bitten but I like this it comes in many

different forms this picaridin it comes in spray you

get into the spray form you can get it in a they have like really large sizes

of the lotion yeah it doesn't smell terrible this isn't super greasy and it

doesn't feel sticky like again another thing I don't like about off is that it

sticks to everything which is not you know great so I like the idea that this

is like a less obvious form of insect repellent that doesn't smell doesn't get

sticky you know this isn't super greasy feeling it feels just like regular

lotion hey maybe it's moisturizing I don't know so I'm just gonna put a

little this stuff on and I also got the Sawyer sunblock

it's called stay put sunscreen and if you're going out in the Sun I guess

you're supposed to apply the sunscreen first and what's good about this is that

I guess the compounds don't break down as much as other sunscreens do when you

put on your insect repellent so according to the website I was reading

you're supposed to put on the sunblock first I believe and then put on your

insect repellent okay now this is it does say obviously don't eat any of this

stuff so we're gonna give this a whirl I'm gonna see if my arms stay bug free

today I can literally get bit anywhere I could probably even get I've definitely

been getting bit somehow while I'm sleeping which is sort of disturbing so

I mean it's it's definitely been happy alright so we're just gonna put some of

this on since my arms are exposed I can also put this on my neck and maybe on

areas of my face as well yeah it's not super greasy and this really doesn't

have that bug spray smell so so far I am a fan anyways I am totally waging war on

the insects so this is just phase one if I have to go to Phase two I don't even

know what that is yet but I will be reporting back to see if the stuff does

work I do like this product so far I like how it applies but literally on

Amazon you could get a gal an entire gallon of this you can get a half gallon

you can get a quart and it comes with a pump top so if I like

stuff I'm definitely going to be springing for a larger size that I can

like maybe refill this bottle and also have like a bigger size for home use

anyways do you get bit by bugs if you have any good solutions recommendations

for keeping them away let me know these are just starting to heal now so I'm

really hoping I don't get a lot of new bug bites that would be great

who knows anyways I just wanted to share this with you and I will definitely have

an updated video just letting you know how it's going with all of these

products are they working for me and what I think of them because clearly

this is a big priority otherwise I'm just gonna get eaten alive by bugs

anyways I'm Jen if you enjoyed this video feel free to hit that like button

I'll see you next time

Spotlight tries the Aluminum/Aluminium Foil Ball Challenge! - Duration: 3:31.

Hi, greetings from the United Kingdom!

I'm Katy Blake.

And and I'm Bruce Gulland.

And greetings from the United States!

I'm Liz Waid.

And I'm Adam Navis.

Spotlight is going to take the Japanese Aluminium foil ball challenge!

Or is it the Japanese Aluminum foil ball challenge?

Either way, our Spotlight team wants to see if we can take this thin sheet of metal...

And make it into a smooth, shiny ball!

Challenge accepted.

Let's head to the Spotlight workshop!

The 'Japanese Foil Ball Challenge' is a trend on YouTube.

For the challenge, people take thin aluminum foil, like this...

...then they turn it into a shiny ball.

It started in Japan in March of 2018, and has spread around the world.

The first video to feature the challenge was posted by

Japanese YouTuber "SkyTOMO" on March 7th, 2018.

In the video, SkyTOMO takes a ball of aluminum foil,

and hits it with a hammer until it is nearly perfectly round.

He then uses sandpaper on the edges to make the ball smooth.

He then applies mirror polish to make the ball appear shiny.

What do you think?

How do you think our Spotlight team did?

Tell us what you think in the comments below!

And maybe the real question is: how do you pronounce it: Aluminium or Aluminum?

Maybe we should ask Michio Ozaki?

Here in Japan, we say アルミニウム!

Maybe we'll just stick with aluminium."

Aluminum is fine with us!

Aluminium. Aluminium.

Aluminum. Aluminum.

アルミニウム アルミニウム

Thank you for watching Spotlight take the Japanese Foil Ball Challenge.

Have you tried this challenge?

What challenge should Spotlight try next?

Tell us below.

Goodbye!

Never Burn THESE Candles In Your Home! Here's Why! - Duration: 2:31.

Cigarettes are terrible for your health.

Most everyone knows that; however, some people might still be ignorant about second-hand

smoke.

It's just as detrimental to a person's health to breathe in smoke from someone else's

cigarette as it is to smoke one yourself.

Yet, second-hand smoke isn't the only way that people are hurting their loved ones by

burning something in their presence.

Did you know that candles can actually produce harmful effects similar to that of a lit cigarette?

Those pumpkin scented candles may smell fantastic in the fall, but they also have a nasty by-product—soot.

It works like this: the paraffin in the candles, when burned, allow dangerous toxins to float

into the air we breathe.

The more the candles burn, the more toxic the air becomes.

It can get so toxic that candle companies have now begun to place stickers on their

candles which recommend that they not be burned longer than three hours at a time.

You may be thinking, "I burn candles longer than that all the time, and I don't have

any problems breathing."

Consider the fact that numerous studies show there are over a quarter of a million soot-related

asthma attacks every year.

Additionally, millions of workers have to take time off for soot related illnesses each

year.

Some of these illnesses inevitably lead to untimely deaths.

Paraffin isn't the only one to blame though.

Candles that are made outside of the United States may contain wicks that are partially

made of lead.

These candles are imported into the US and sold to many unsuspecting customers.

Once the wick begins to burns, it releases the fumes from the lead.

Those fumes contaminate your lungs first and eventually lead to other organs.

Next time you want to burn that apple-cinnamon scented candle, make sure that you know where

it was made, and pay attention to any warning labels that might be on the container.

Or, to be on the safe side, use healthier alternatives to freshening up your indoor

air.

Open a window.

Use a diffuser with essential oils, but don't risk your family's health for a nice smelling

room.

You!

Yes.

Well, I'm not coming for you. I'm going to Kirillov.

Shatov,

You did not give me that blow because of my connection with your wife?

No. Of course not.

And not because you believed the stupid gossip about Darya Pavlovna?

Well, no, of course not! It's nonsense!

Then I guessed right and you guessed right.

You are right.

Marya Timofyevna Lebyadkin is my lawful wife, married to me

four and a half years ago in Petersburg,

after a drunken dinner. for a bet.

I suppose the blow was on her account?

No.

Because of your fall...

your lie.

I did it because you meant so much to me in my life...

I didn't go up to you to punish you...

I didn't know when I went up to you that I should strike you.

I fancied that you were coming to kill me.

I spent my last farthing on buying a revolver

from that good-for-nothing fellow Lyamshin.

I did not mean to let you do it.

I have been expecting you too long.

I think about you constantly.

I can't tear you out of my heart, Nikolay Stavrogin!

No One Expected This! Robert Mueller Just Accidentally Busted Obama, You'll Be Surprised - Duration: 12:40.

No One Expected This!

Robert Mueller Just Accidentally Busted Obama, You'll Be Surprised

Special counsel Robert Mueller stepped up on the stage right after former FBI director

got fired by President Trump due to controversies involving top members of the past administration

over some very sensitive national topics.

Special counsel Mueller's job was to find whether or not there was a collusion between

President Trump's campaign and Russia.

That may seemed to be his task, but everyone knew that he was put to that position in order

to take down President Trump, a special quest in which he apparently failed.

Via Christian News Alerts:

Despite the complete lack of evidence, it was believed that the only way to settle whether

or not Trump colluded with the Russians is through this baseless investigation.

As it turns out, the Special Counsel may not be so baseless after all — but not towards

President Trump.

Instead, crimes of former President Barack Obama are being uncovered by Mueller and promptly

silenced.

One of the biggest Obama crimes to come out of this investigation is the fact that he

had President Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort wiretapped during the presidential

race, according to The Hill.

Apparently, Obama felt it necessary to wiretap Manafort, and by default, anyone who talked

to Manafort was wiretapped in the process.

Manafort lived at Trump Tower where he frequently communicated with Trump.

"If these reports are accurate, it means US intelligence agencies secretly surveilled

at least half a dozen Trump associates.

And those are just the ones we know about," The Hill noted.

The implications are unfolding.

If Obama had wiretapping going on and was listening to the opposing team as they prepared

for the big election, there was certainly a crime committed.

There is no logical reason to have Manafort wiretapped aside from political gain.

He was not under investigation for any crime in particular at the time, so why bother wiretapping

him and people around him?

It turns out that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Court had some shady

behavior going on leading up to the election of President Trump.

The FISA court contains 11 federal district judges who make the decisions regarding surveillance.

At the time, every single judge on the FISA Court was appointed during Obama's administration.

These aforementioned judges were appointed by Chief Justice John Roberts, who was a huge

supporter of Obamacare and the former president overall.

This relationship likely lent to the addition of judges who might "see it their way."

Disturbingly, more than 10,700 applications for electronic surveillance were submitted.

Out of all of the applications submitted, only one was denied by the courts.

Despite all this evidence of illegal wiretapping, Mueller has not said a word.

It seems odd that his role is to check the balance of the president, but he is disregarding

the apparent illegal activities that took place during the last administration.

It is almost as if Mueller is invested in this process.

He has also failed to acknowledge any of the questionable and illegal behaviors of former

Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Lynch signed off on every single wiretapping request that required her approval.

Former FBI Director James Comey testified that Lynch encouraged him to disregard the

Clinton email investigation.

At one point she even told him to refer to it as a "matter."

Even though he's obtained such an immense collection of evidence that clearly points

out to the corruption in the Obama administration, special counsel Mueller pushes on.

He is obviously on a witch hunt to condemn Trump; he will continue to make excuses and

ignore the real criminal activity.
