so today is the day before ComiConn and I know on Mondays you're expecting your usual rant video

BUT because we are going away to Europe

in...... as soon as I post this I'm actually gonna be on a flight going to Barcelona

so this is the start of my vacation series

right now it's like a mini vacation leading into the whole (deep inhale)....

Europe (trip)

amazing, spectacular, awe-inspiring

that's just gonna be a crazy trip like I've been looking forward to this for the longest time

Anyway right now is the mini vacation leading into it right now we're in Connecticut

in Foxwoods which is also where I filmed my announcement of my merch

so if it looks kind of familiar this bathroom it's because we've been here before together

I woke up this morning I was over my friend's house because she had a party

then I drove to my house and immediately as soon as I got home went n on the ferry

and then we went to Party City just to pick up a few things for our cosplay

and now we are here and it is the day before ComiConn and we are finishing up our last-minute preparations

Kelly and I are working on our cosplays kind of like half in our pajamas

so we got this wig

it's for Sadie.. it looks so much blonder in the packaging

we gotta get like yellow hairspray

And it was seen in the "Greek Gods You Didn't Know About" so obviously it changed a lot since then

I'm trying to figure out what to do with this back part because it looks kind of ridiculous but the front I shaped with a lot of hair gel

and then we're gonna feast

we've arrived at flavortown

I was so full after Guy Fieri's but then

I made a small purchase

I really don't know what to expect because obviously this is a lot smaller than the New York one

which was very chaotic and I was not ready for all of that

we shall see what this one will have in store for us

this is the nerdiest thing I've ever done in my life and I'm really embracing it

okay so the first thing I have to do with my Peridot look is I don't have the glasses

so I have to kind of draw them on

as soon as we got in we received our VIP drawstring bag,

our bags which was holographic, we got two posters- two different posters

and then later on we actually also received a free comic book for being VIP

We walked in and there was so much

so what drew our attention to this specific convention is that Kate Flannery is gonna be there

she's in The Office, she's in Steven Universe as Barb- Sadie's mom

and she's in OK KO as Carol

so we ended up going to her meet-and-greet

we got Kelly's book signed her very first page of her animated characters, cartoonists little book that she put together

and Kate loved that so much

I asked Kate if she had any advice for studying actors like me

and basically I wish I could remember word for word exactly how she put it because the way she said just...

I loved it so much it was just so inspiring

She said everything you don't get leads you to where you need to be

if I got that then I wouldn't have gotten this and then I wouldn't be where I am now

so everything that happens to you whether in the moment you think it's good or bad it leads you to where you need to be

and I love that because I- I do get caught up on failure

I do get caught up on "oh why I wasn't a cast in that" or blah blah blah

it just motivates you to work hard and not be discouraged too easily

and then talk to about her casting in Steven Universe and I wanted to know what that process was like

cause usually Rebecca I know she contacts people separately

and I asked if Rebecca knew her from The Office and she actually said "oh I don't know I'm seeing Rebecca soon I should ask her about that"

and that was super cool because it's like "whoa!!"

honestly overall much better than actual New York comic-con

because I actually got to walk around and I didn't feel anxious and there wasn't that that many people

but enough to where people were pointing at us and being like "Ahhh Peridot!!"

and people were stopping by to take pictures of me and Kelly

all dressed up as our characters which was like super cool

because I didn't think that this was gonna translate but it did so that's really fun

honestly I would do small conventions like this again in a heartbeat

and there's one that's coming up in Rhode Island in November so I might do that

In Module Three, we will explore several laws that have impacted public school settings.

Laws such as The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001 were implemented in order to

hold schools accountable for how children learned and achieved.

The intention of NCLB (2002-2015) was to provide equal educational opportunities for disadvantaged

students and to "level the playing field," providing equal access to quality education

for all students.

In 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) replaced NCLB as the main federal law for

K-12 general education and covers all students in public schools.

ESSA requires states to be responsible for holding schools accountable for student achievement

and students are required to be assessed for reading and math once per year in grades 3-8.

Science skills must be assessed once in elementary, middle and high school.

Accountability measures include test scores, high-school graduation rates and other factors

hey Saseni my name is Asumpta and I make DIY fashion videos if you're new here

feel welcome and you've been around thank you so much I'm extremely grateful

for you thanks to at Koko sleek and Phyllis Gordon for inquiring more on the

bodice block to tutorial I did some time ago on stitching it and further explanation

about the block generally I'll try my best to explain in this video so this is

the bodice block I made while drafting it we added five centimeters to the half

bust measurements making it 10 centimeters on the full one we do this

so as we may be able to add darts which will shape the garment well especially

at the bust and waist area the waist is much smaller than the bust so the darts

are 12 centimeters in total at the waist when halved because we have 3.5 and 1.5

centimeters for the back as darts and 2.5 and 4.5 centimeters for the front darts

totalling to 12 centimeters on one half of the block making it a total of

24 centimeters that we were taking this is how the metric method has it for all

standard sizes maybe as we do the cutting and stitching you'll understand

more on how it all comes together you may need to control your pattern for

better fit like I'm doing depending on your ship I contoured with half an inch

at the front waist and bust dart also at the back but then I cut out the lower

part anyways so I won't be needing that

description and at the upper right corner of the screen

I moved the dart to the center shoulder and the contouring too just so that

it's not too close to the neckline I then cut out the pattern at the darts to

form a princess line

and shaped it at the sharp corners for more smoother look

I took a piece of scrap fabric laying around in my stash that

was big enough and used it for this video so place the fabric on fold then

place your back pattern on top leave about an inch at the centre back for a

zip I pinned the area where the darts are so that the fabric doesn't move around

i thenmarked the dart point by passing thread through the pattern piece cut out

carefully while adding seam allowance you can also add seam allowance on the

pattern itself instead of while cutting I just do this to work faster i then

folded the fabric again and cut out the center front panel of the pattern then

the side panel i marked the notches while cutting which are the

points that helped balance the garment pieces while cutting now we want to join

the pieces together place them right sides facing each other and pin them

together use the notches to help you in balancing the garment pieces now let's

take the back pattern pieces i had already cut the thread so now I'm just seperating

the pieces I folded the pattern and pinned to help it stay in place I even

drew the dart to help me stay in line

here I'm changing the presser foot to the regular one because the one that was

there was the zipper foot now stitch the pieces together

once you're done snip the curved areas and reduce the excess fabric allowance

this allows for the fabric to lie well on the body

now stitch the back darts

now join the sides right sides facing each other now I'm going to add a zip to

the back a hidden zip to be precise it however

did not turn out hidden as it should since that for me takes a lot of time

and this is for demonstration purposes only so I just stitched it quite fast

Stitch the zip and you can iron the bodies once more now it's done and it

came out really good at least to me the contouring especially makes me happy as

you can see the zip isn't hidden at all but that was on purpose as explained before

otherwise if it's a garment you'll be wearing or for client the zip should be

well hidden the only thing I would do next time is reduce the shoulder by

about half an inch so that the garment can raise up just a bit you

can see when I pull it down where it's supposed to be there's bulkiness at the

empire waist but when I pull it up just a bit it fits as it should and feels

better too

you can do this for yourself so that you can adjust the garment to fit the way

you want it to it's very personal and unique to you you may have to do many

trial and errors before you get it right but you get there eventually do try it

Stefanie Schaffer of Rutland, Vermont, is in a medically induced coma at a hospital in Nassau, Bahamas.

The 22-year-old was onboard a tour boat on a family vacation when the boat's engine exploded on Saturday morning.

One person, an American woman, has died and several others were seriously injured.

Schaffer was on the boat with her mom, Stacey, her sister, Brooke, and her stepdad, Paul.

Stacey was also badly injured, sustaining multiple broken bones and other internal injuries.

Brooke and Paul suffered minor injuries.

The family had been on a boat heading to the island of Exuma when one of the boat's engines exploded just after 9 a.m.

local time. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.

Stefanie Schaffer is listed in critical condition.

Here's what you need to know:.

She Is too Unstable to Be Flown to the United States & Had Both of Her Legs Amputated.

Many of the injured tourists were flown to St.

Petersburg, Florida, for medical treatment.

Stefanie Schaffer was rushed to a nearby hospital in the Bahamas, unable to be airlifted to a hospital in the United States because of the severity of her injuries.

"She's in really critical care right now and in really serious shape.

I know she has really bad internal injuries," a relative told the Daily Mail.

Stefanie had both of her legs amputated shortly after arriving at the hospital.

She also needs surgery on her spine "for an L1 lumbar disk fracture.".

Stefanie remains in a medically induced coma at Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau.

A GoFundMe Page Has Been Set up to Help With Medical Bills.

Shortly after the accident, a GoFundMe page was set up in order to help the family with medical bills for both Stefanie and Stacey.

"We are raising funds for the medical and travel expenses.

 With the support of the family, we have launched a GoFundMe page, in hopes to raise $50,00000.

We know their expenses will far exceed this as this becomes a life long struggle for this family," reads the page's description.

As of Monday morning, more than $21,000 had been raised to support the family.

Her Mom Is also in Critical Condition.

Stefanie's mom, Stacey Bender (pictured above right), is also listed in critical condition at the same hospital in Nassau.

Stacey, 50, fractured both of her legs in the explosion and will need surgery.

Stacey is also a patient at Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau.

It's unknown if she has been able to see Stefanie or if the two are together in the same room in the ICU.

She Recently Graduated from College & Has Been a Dancer for Much of Her Life.

Stefanie Schaffer is a recent college graduate, sources told the media.

According to a LinkedIn page that appears to belong to Schaffer, she is set to graduate from Coastal Carolina University in December.

"I am a hard working student at Coastal Carolina University.

I value sports, academics, and my personal relationships with family and friends," reads her LinkedIn bio. .

She is also a dancer.

Her brother, George, told ABC News that his sister "danced her whole childhood." George and his dad, George Sr., were heading to the Bahamas to be with the rest of the family.

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out to my family and I.

It is your ongoing support that is going to get us through this," Stefanie's brother wrote on Facebook on Sunday.

"Hang in there Stef I'm on my way," read another post.

"The scary thing is Stefanie doesn't know that she's lost her legs, and that's what really upsets me.

She's going to wake up from this coma and realize 'I don't have any legs.' It's breaking my heart," an unnamed relative told the Daily Mail.

Family Members of Other People Injured on the Boat Have Asked for Prayers for Her & Her Mom.

Stefanie and Stacey have been receiving large amounts of support since the accident occurred.

Another family on the boat is going through similar challenges, as teen Haiden Jones was injured, as was his brother, Kyle, his mom, Sheila, and her boyfriend, John Inman.

"Prayers needed my son Haiden was on vacation in the Bahamas with friends and family when their charter boat exploded and caught fire! My son Haiden his brother Kyle his Mother Sheila, boyfriend John, girlfriend Brooke and Paul are all ok just cuts and bruises," Haiden's dad, CJ, wrote on Facebook.

He also asked for prayers for Stefanie and her mom.

"Many prayers needed for Stacey Bender and Stephanie Schaffer.

Last update Stacey and her daughter [Stefanie] still in the ICU," he wrote.

5, Parsley tea.

Because of its cleansing and digestive properties, parsley can be considered as an alternative remedy for controlling heartburn, acid reflux, and stomach inflammation.

Its compounds help to fight slow digestion.

They also neutralize imbalances in stomach acid.

Ingredients. one cup of water.

1 tablespoon of fresh parsley.

Instructions. Put the water on to boil.

When it starts boiling, take it off of the heat and add the parsley.

Hi, I'm Heidi and today I'd like to show you one of my favorite Data Gems, the glossary.

The glossary can be found off of census.gov, and is a great resource if you're trying to

look up a particular subject, and need some help.

To find the glossary, we're going to start off at census.gov. In the upper right-hand

corner click on "Glossary."

When you come to census.gov, you'll find that there are many places that you could start

to look for data, and sometimes you don't know where to start.

So, the glossary might be a good place for you.

For example, today, I'm interested in finding information on income data.

You'll see when I type in "income" that I get a drop-down list with a lot of different

options.

But for today I just want to find information about income.

You'll see when income comes up, we get a definition, as well as some websites where

you can find information on income, and even the surveys that collect data on income.

So, next time you come to census.gov and are not sure where to start, perhaps using the

glossary will help you.

Star of The Big Bang Theory Kaley Cuoco and professional equestrian Karl Cook are officially man and wife! The pair exchanged vows during a ceremony at a horse stable near San Diego on Saturday.

This is the second marriage for 32-year-old Cuoco.

The 27-year-old Cook is a professional athlete and comes from a famous family.

But he was not very well-known until he began dating Cuoco in 2016.

Here's what you need to know about Karl Cook.

Karl Cook Rides Horses For a Living.

Cook is a professional equestrian.

According to the Chronicle of the Horse, Cook's success began when he was still a teenager.

He won team gold medals at the FEI North American Junior and Youth Rider Championships.

He also won a gold medal as an individual rider in 2007.

In 2012, he and his horse ASB Conquistador beat out 49 other riders to win the ShowBiz Magazine/iJump Sports Welcome Stake.

U.S.

Equestrian reported that Cook and his horse completed "one of only six clear rounds in tonight's speed class." Cook followed up that win with first and second places on two different horses at the Fisker Automotive World Cup Grand Prix.

In 2016, Cook scored two wins in Las Vegas, in both the $25,000 SmartPak Grand Prix and the $15,000 UltrOz Jumper.

According to the Federation Equestre Internationale, Cook is ranked 10th in the FEI Jumping World Cup Standings.

Cook Almost Quit Riding in 2012.

Before scoring those big wins late in 2012, Cook had nearly quit the sport altogether.

In the spring of 2012, Cook's performances took a dive.

Per the Chronicle of the Horse, "he was riding badly, his horses weren't at their best, and he just couldn't seem to find clear rounds, no matter how high the jumps stood.".

He reportedly lost his grove during the USEF Olympic Selection Trials.

He then couldn't seem to get his rhythm back during subsequent competitions.

For example, he had 16 faults during a 1.40-meter grand prix that May.

Despite these setbacks, Cook said he decided to stick with it because he couldn't imagine his life without horses.

"I really didn't want to go to school, so it was either that and be very unhappy, or really get after riding.".

To get back on track, Cook dropped out of the competitive circuit in order to get back to basics.

He left his longtime trainers in order to team up with Eric Navet of France.

He shipped three horses to Normandy and spent three months changing his riding style.

Cook said Navet also encouraged him to change how he interacted with the horses; Cook became more involved in his animals' daily routines and maintenance.

Cook Comes From a Wildly Successful, Wealthy Family.

Cook is far from the only celebrity in the family.

His father is billionaire Scott Cook.

He co-founded the tax software firm Intuit in 1983, which makes products including TurboTax and QuickBooks.

According to Forbes, Scott Cook is worth an estimated $3.8 billion.

Karl's mother is Signe Ostby, a co-founder of the Center for Brand and Product Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She continues to serve on the center's advisory board.

According to her bio on the school's website, she got her start working at Proctor & Gamble in 1976 before launching her own software startup in 1982.

Ostby is also a horse aficionado.

She is the owner of Pomponio Ranch Stallions, a breeding ranch in San Gregorio, California.

According to the site, the ranch has been in operation since 2011 and prides itself on its track record of breeding and training "world class show jumping horses.".

Mad Men is one of the greatest TV series ever written and at the very end the

finale of season 1 we see one of the greatest pitches ever shown on TV. I'm

going to show you why I love this pitch so much

Let's set the scene: we have Don Draper faced with what is otherwise

known as a slide projector. Two executives from the company in question

are sat there and they say to Don, Don what have you come up with for our wheel?

So have you figured out a way to work the wheel into it? The first thing Don

does is it gives us a master class in marketing 101 and that is never talk

about the function, talk about the benefits of the product. That you have

technology is a glittering lure but there's the rare occasion when the

public can be engaged on a level beyond flash. If they have a sentimental bond

with the product. Don Draper describes how the product will benefit the people

using it rather than going through its function as a slide projector.

This device isn't a spaceship it's a time machine.

Goes backwards forwards.

Takes us to a place where we all want to go again.

Take for example a Ferrari versus a Nissan Micra. They perform the

same function getting an individual or more than one individual from A to B but,

Ferrari is something that drives people's ambitions it's what many people

dream about. It's much more than a means of transport. It is a status symbol

which is something that says; I have arrived. I have achieved something in

life. Let alone all the exhilaration that it gives you.

Asterix I've actually owned a Nissan Micra and they're not

all that bad. Rhe second thing that Don Draper does is he talks about the product being

new. N, E, W.

It intrigues us because we haven't worked out what it's quite easy yet.

He told me the most important idea in advertising is new. He actually says

no this is not about something new; this is about nostalgia, the opposite of new.

He's using an antithesis. He's turning a normal concept on its head and making it

sound rather positive. Nostalgia, it's delicate.

Don Draper really isn't talking about something new or the

opposite of new. Really he is talking talking about the fear of loss. Third, and

finally the thing which Don Draper does very best here is he generates a huge

sense of emotion. He drops the lights and he shows us the slides and he talks in

a very soft steady tone about memories. It's not called the wheel, it's called

the carousel.

Lets us travel the way the child travels around and around back

home again.

To a place where we know we are loved.

And the memories it brings up happen to be photographs of him and his wife who

happens to be two very beautiful people showing them with children showing them

getting married showing them being extremely happy and

having tremendous joy. All of these things the audience can connect with

because these are universal experiences which we will all have probably at one time

or another in our lives. he draws straight into the audience's emotions.

What's the effect of this? Just take a look at what happens to Don Draper's

colleague.

I love madmen and I love this pitch we're taught three valuable lessons by

Don Draper. Number one, don't talk about functions talk about the benefits. Number

two think about the fear of loss. Think about our natural desire to acquire

things and how painful it is should those things be taken away from us. And

number three, the most powerful element in any pitch is emotion drive up the

sense of emotion, get people thinking in a hot cognitive state and life becomes

a lot easier. indeed this is the effect that Don

Draper's pitch has on his audience
