How to Know if a Parakeet Is Right for You - Duration: 6:37.
Parakeets are friendly birds that have made great pets for bird-lovers all over the world.
A parakeet is more than just a pretty thing to look at, though.
Bringing a parakeet home means making it part of your family.
These social birds will want to play, chew, talk, and be in a home where they can bond
with people.
They also have regular needs for which you will have to provide.
If you are willing to put the time in to socialize and care for one, though, a parakeet may be
the pet for you.
Decide if you are ready for a 15-20 year commitment.
You'll need to account for a parakeet's lifespan before deciding to get one.
A healthy parakeet can live for 15-20 years, which is more than many cats or dogs and most
small mammals, but less than larger birds like parrots.
If you plan to travel or make lifestyle changes in the future, a parakeet might not be the
best pet for you.
Determine if you can handle their personality.
While personality varies from bird to bird, most parakeets share two values: they are
social, and they are stubborn.
When a parakeet is let out to play, it will want to socialize directly with you.
It will also want to chew and peck around the house, and will leave droppings anywhere,
including on the furniture and on you.Parakeets are intelligent and can be hand-trained.
Consider if this is something that appeals to you or not.
Consider the noise level.
Parakeets don't squawk all of the time, but they will make a loud screaming noise
at least once a day for several minutes on end, up to half an hour.
If there is someone in your home who needs lots of sleep, like a child, or is otherwise
sensitive to noise, a parakeet might not be the right pet.
Determine how much time you can commit.
Parakeets are friendly, social bird, meaning that they need daily attention.
You need to be able to commit time every day to cleaning your parakeet's cage, changing
out food and water bowls, and socializing with it by playing, talking, and hand-training
Prepare to have multiple birds.
Unless there is someone in the home in the house to socialize with most of the time,
your parakeet will probably want a friend.
Think about whether you are ready to keep 2 birds at one time, which will double the
noise, social time, and clean-up, but also double the love and affection.
Evaluate your household activity.
Parakeets are easily stressed, and susceptible to hurting themselves or weakened immunity
when anxious.
If you move frequently, or have an active household such as one with small children,
it may be difficult to keep your parakeet healthy.
Consider your other pets.
Having a cat, dog, snake, or other predatory pet could be a risk for your parakeet.
While many homes have multiple types of pets, it requires very careful attention to every
interaction.
Think about the demeanor of your current pets.
Even a well-trained cat or dog who just wants to play could accidentally hurt your parakeet.
Measure the space you have to give the bird.
While some choose to keep parakeets in small cages, they are typically much happier in
larger environments.
Make sure you have room in your home for a cage that is large enough to fit your parakeet,
it's food and water dishes, multiple toys, and multiple perches, and still give the bird
room to fly.
Factor in your time away.
Parakeets aren't birds that can be left alone if you travel or are away from home
frequently.
Think about whether you have someone you trust to come feed and check on the bird.
Avoid getting a parakeet if someone in your home has health issues.
Consider if you or anyone in the family has a weak immune system.
Birds can carry diseases that don't make them sick but can be passed onto people, such as
giardia and campylobacter.
If someone in your home has a weak immune system, a pet parakeet may not be appropriate
for your circumstances.
Add up regular expenses.
On top of initial set-up, keeping a parakeet will require you to regularly buy food, chew
toys, treats, new bowls, and supplements like mineral blocks.
These are not typically high-cost items, but you still need to be prepared to regularly
spend money on your bird.
On top of that, you may have unexpected vet costs if you notice your parakeet show symptoms
of an illness.
Account for increased heating and air conditioning bills.
Parakeets tend to prefer a temperature between 65° F and 80° F (18° C and 26.5° C).
If you live in an area where it tends to get very cold or very hot, your parakeet may require
you to turn up your climate control systems, which could boost your energy and/or gas bills.

ENG) Growing Up As A Half Korean and Half Czech: advantages, racism, learning korean | Yerin Wu - Duration: 14:09.
let's exchange our seats
okay
hello guys it's me yerin
today i'm here with my half korean friend Seonjeong
hello~
my czech name is Anna
and my korean name is Seonjeong
nice to meet you!
we're in the library rn so we have to be quiet!
so today we'll be doing an interview with Seonjeong
she's the main character of today's vid haha
What's your nationality?
firstly my dad is czech and my mom is korean
but i was born in the czech republic and i've been living here ever since
How did you learn korean?
when i was little my mom couldn't speak czech
and so she spoke korean at home
so i kept hearing korean at home since i was little
in the beginning i learned with my mom
but then she could speak czech
since she learned czech after a while
and so i started to forget korean gradually
and then since my mom is korean
i thought to myself:i should learn korean as well
so i started going to this korean "hangeul" school
in prague?
yes.nowadays many korean kids come from korea to prague
bc of companies such as Hyundae, LG or Samsung
as their parents come here to work for the companies
and so they take their children with them
i go to the hangeul school every friday with koreans
and we study for ex.math, korean history and korean
all together
that's what we do at the hangeul school:)
also you went to korea last year, right?
it seems like you learned a lot there as well
yes!i went to korea last year during summer vacation
and i think my korean improved a lot there
czech and korean comparison
is czech harder than korean?
or which language is harder?
for me czech is of course easier
bc since i was little i spoke czech at school
so for me czech is easier and more natural
however if i was a foreigner who didn't speak czech
nor korean, czech would be harder for me to be honest
czech is actually one of the world's
most difficult languages
with chinese haha
when was the first time you came to korea?
i first came to korea when i was 1 or 2 years old
with my mom,dad and older brother
my parents wanted to show my korean grandparents
their newborn daughter
right?
then i went to korea last summer
i couldn't go there much before that
bc the plane tickets price was quite expensive
do you like korea then?
yes i love korea!
since all of my relatives from my mother's side
are in korea
and since i couldn't see my grandparents, aunt and uncle
as i was growing up
when i finally went to korea it was great
i only grew up in the czech republic
and like...my mom is korean and i'm also 50% korean
so not being able to go to korea
made me feel a bit as if smth was missing
so going to korea after all was truly amazing
it's as if...how should i say it?
i was fully complete again
you also really like korean food right?
bc when she went there there many food pics
that came up on her ig lol
so she looked very happy
overally i'm very fond of eating food
i love eating, which is why my face is chubby
heyy that's not true
can i say this?
i gained a lot of weight
a total of 7kg in korea TT
she looks the same tho.don't listen to her
are there any positive points about being a halfie?
yes,of course
the first one is languages
as i said it before i can speak czech fluently
and although i didn't speak korean well before
now that i started learning it it's become quite easy
and natural to learn
also you know two cultures right?
that also seems like an advantage
because...(lol forgot all of my korean skills)
knowing diverse cultures is so fascinating
and so...you wouldn't judge people nor be ignorant
based...on their appearances etc
lol i can't speak korean srry
nono she's doing great(thanks anna TT)
having these two distinct cultures at home
and being able to live together in peace
made my mind more expanded
like you're open minded
what about difficulties?disadvantages?
there were some of them as well...
not knowing my own identity
which can be a bit confusing
and complicated.i thought about it sometimes
it's gotten much better now
but before when i was 13,14,15yo ish
it's that kind of a period right?
where you ask yourself "who am i...?
what is my identity?"
you basically ask yourself these types of questions often
i agree
bc i've been living here in the czech republic
if people here see me a majority of them think
"oh she's korean" or "oh she's asian"
but if i go to korea
people consider me as a westerner
i'm just like...
"if i'm not czech nor korean
what am i then?"
i think i've had these kinds of thoughts
come to my mind very often
especially when a person becomes a teenager
these thoughts become even more frequent right
you must've been kinda confused
yes because...
i'm not korean nor czech then
what is my country then??what am i?
but what i can be sure about is
that other mixed kids are on the same page like you
they have the same problems like you:(
have you ever faced racism?
yes,especially when i was little
some of it was in kindergarten
but it was mainly in elementary and middle school
when kids are small and they see someone
who's a bit different,they make fun of him/her
and say bad stuff without thinking first
that's what they tend to do right
so it was the same for me
when other kids saw me they went like:
"ohh a chinese person!ching chang ching chang!"
and this happened several times
but now it doesn't really happen anymore
since there are many foreigners coming to prague
the situation became much better
also i'm not sure if i can call it racism
but last year in korea when i was in the metro
a korean woman stared at me in an unfriendly way
like with mean eyes
idk what she was thinking
but i got a bad feeling from her
tho when i came to korea people stared at me a lot
that wasn't racism nor discrimination
but more like fascination or interest
also actually i thought about
living in korea for a while
i wanted to go to a korean high school for one year
as a foreign student
but when i talked about it with my auntie
she said that it could be quite difficult
not only because of the language but what she said was
that if korean kids have a friends group
it's hard for other people to be let in
and since i'm different, since i look different from them
and i don't speak korean that well
you're super good tho??
it could be difficult to integrate
that's what my aunt told me
maybe it might not be true as well
yeah bc the koreans i met were all nice kids
so i'm not sure whether it's 100% true or not
i only heard that statement
what is the biggest difference between korea and the czech republic?
if we look at the people, koreans seem to
have a warmer heart
here people seem a bit cold
not sure if that statement was accurate but
czech people can be friendly and
have a nice personality
so it depends on each person
so...yeah
it might not be true as well
when you see or meet a czech person for the first time
you might get like cold vibes from them
but if you slowly get closer to them
you'll think "oh this person's great"
you might think they're like
kind of cold and rigid when you first meet them
but if you're with them for a while and speak to them
while getting closer gradually
you'll realize that they're nice people
another difference is that
it's not only between czech and korean people
but essentially between westerners and easterners
if you look at europe or the US
their most important value is equality
and...what do you call it?
(in czech) can you say it in french?
(in french) liberty,equality and fraternity
we're all like brothers
and that's what's important for the western world
but in the eastern world
you have to greet people older than you like this
speak in a formal language
you have to respect them a lot
and that's what's the most important to easterners
we don't have that kind of thing here
if i had to depict this with a drawing
in the west people are like this --------
all on the same level
and if you look at the east the line is vertical
and if you look at the east the line is vertical
the elders are here
and the younger ones are here
what lmao
i don't mean this in a bad way
i'm just telling you guys what i personally consider as the biggest difference!:)
what are we doing haha
so the last question
what are your plans for the future?
do you want to go to a korean university?
yes!i would like to
i'd like to live in korea for a while
plus the education in korea is good
so i want to try to go there
your mother went to a really good uni right?
my mom
went to Ewha Women's University
so i'd like to study there one day as well
just like my mom
i'm still not sure where i'll go
but korea is my top choice
i don't want to study in prague
i want to go to a foreign country
and korea looks like the best choice
that's the end of today's vid!
Seonjeong's actually rather shy
and so i'm super thankful to her
for making this video with me!thank you so much
let's clap for her!
seriously,thank you
she's so cute right?

5 Survival Hacks THAT CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE! - Duration: 2:35.
hey guys today we're doing a survival hacks video hope these hacks help you
out and let's get into it number one is having a torch / pen of course it's
important to have a flashlight but also a pen too maybe if you want to write a
note to somebody for help (S.O.S) or something so having both you can just duct tape them
together I have a real one right here but you can duck tape a torch and a
pen together and it's a very useful tool maybe try it out it will be so useful one day
it's perfect it can also help out in the dark cuz of
the flashlight while camping it is an amazing tool and I bet you if you try it
out it'll be a very useful hack for all of you guys number two is using keys as
a weapon this is a great hack but please don't try it at home with somebody as
your family member or something this is only used for defense and it's a great
hack number three is using lipstick as a lotion for any dry spots some chemicals
put into lipstick is very similar to lotion that's why they both have this
effect that helps dry skin or anything so if it's the only thing you have why
not use it it's a great material number four is extra pack of candles or even
using crayons both of them can start a fire that's why they're very useful
lastly number five healing mosquito bites with glue
all you need is a glue stick and any itchy mosquito bite glue has chemicals
that is very releasable for any itchiness that you have and it actually
really works I tried it out and it's a super great hack this is great for
camping and sooner you'll know it'll be gone
