Well yes, that's right
Most of the interviewers are not gonna read
your resume thoroughly, rather they just
scan it. Well yes, have you ever wondered
the snapshot what they take by just
taking a look in your resume?
What impression you create at very
beginning of the interview? No, you
didn't. and that's the reason you make a
lot of silly mistakes while writing your
resume or CV. So let me help you out here
with the three major mistakes which you
have been making so far while writing
your resume and which actually ruins
your great, first, virtual impression. Well,
mistake number one what you do - you did
not read thoroughly the objective what
you have mentioned in your resume or CV.
Do you? No you don't. And that's the
reason you have same objective which you
use for all the jobs you apply. It
doesn't matter core competencies, what
core competencies you're applying for;
doesn't matter even if you're changing
the industry. Well, that is not just silly
mistakes but that tells enough about you
being serious for the job. Let me tell
you a funny story. Well, I have been taking
a job, I mean interviews of the people
here at Pep Talk India for last five
six years, and the funny part is many
times I see people who apply for English
language expert or English language
trainer they have the objective written
that they wish to be the power of human
resource department they want to reach
at the helm of the human resource
department. Funny, isn't that? I mean,
you're applying for English
communicator's job and you don't change
the objective in your resume your CV, and
that tells enough of the story. So, in
short, that creates real
really bad impression in the eyes of
interviewer, so don't do that.
Change your objective in the resume
every single time you go for a different
job as per the job description you read
as per the requirement in the company as
well. So change your objective, I mean in
a resume, every single time if you see
it's supposed to be changed as per the
job need. Okay, so in my career so far,
I've done this this this this this, so yeah I can be helpful....
did you get something out of it? Nothing
That's how your resume sounds. Yes
that's right. You write I was responsible.
for this I was responsible for that; I
was handling this, I was handling that...
that does not tell that you accomplished
something all right. So write your
accomplishment, don't write what you were
responsible for. That gives a clear
picture to the interviewer that, well, you
did contribute to the company's, you know,
profile something. You did, you know,
contribute something for the growth of
the organization in the previous, you know,
company. So, if you did there, you will be
of real help here as well, instead of
yes I was given a job, so I did and
that's what you state in your resume or
CV. Don't do that.
That's a blunder. Well, mistake number
third - you don't update your contact
information. Yeah, I know it's funny. It
sounds funny but it's true. I read a story
somewhere which says that a guy was
complaining, you know, over and again to
his colleagues that you
know what, my career graph is really good
I have done really good job in the
previous two companies as well, and here
as well.
Yet, I don't get, you know,
every single time I go for interview I
don't get a return call. And then the
funny part of the story is, later on it
you know, comes out, the story ends up
like his contact information was wrong. I
mean, his first number was written in his
resume or CV, or he did not
update that. Yes, that's blunder.
Some people are that stupid. So, not
updating you contact information
sometime don't fetch you call-back. Right?
It sounds silly but it's actually true.

mistakes you make while writing your CV
or a resume. Let me tell you something
