Art Tips for Non-Artists: Blending Colors with Acrylic Paints - Duration: 0:47.

How to… Blend Colors

1 Flat Brush

Start with a layer of white acrylic paint.

Add sweeping strokes of color.

Paint side to side. No stopping in the middle.

Add more color.

(Only use a tiny bit of paint here.)

Keep a buffer of white.

More white = softer transitions

Add blue paint to the top.

You're almost a pro at blending acrylic paints!

Hey, What's up?

The St. Bernard is a breed native to the Swiss Alps

and descends from an extinct breed called Alpine Mastiff

This breed was mixed with other breeds

such as the Tibetan Mastiff

Newfoundland and Great Dane

In the mountain pass of the Great Mount St. Bernard

in the eleventh century, some monks founded

a hospice for travelers

in the seventeenth century

began to breed big dogs as guardians

Soon after, they began to be used

as rescue dogs for travelers lost in fog and snow

The first St. Bernard of which is registered

was called Léon

and was taken from Switzerland to England in 1815

beginning his popularity in the late 1840's

thanks to Queen Victoria

On June 2nd 1887 he was officially recognized

as a Swiss breed and became the Swiss national dog

He's a quiet dog that gets along excellent with children

but being so large he needs a lot of space

at least 150 m2 but the advisable are 300 m2

He needs a lot of care on the face, eyes, eyelids and fur

He needs to exercise but not in excess

Also, be careful with overweight

and hot or poorly ventilated areas

The most famous St. Bernard was one named Barry

although he was a bit different and smaller than today

was known for having saved more than 40 lives

Another very famous was Chris

known for his part in the Beethoven film

As a curious note, the iconic barrel of the St. Bernard

was not actually worn by these dogs

it's believed that the myth began

with an 1820 painting called

"Alpine Mastiffs Reanimating a Distressed Traveller"

made by Edwin Landseer when he was 17
