Morning Conversations with Jim Self and Roxane Burnett - You Can Always Go To No - Duration: 7:57.So last week we talked about planning. Planning. And how do you basically make
some decisions. And we touched on the Fourth Fifth Sixth Ray about how you put
things together, you can really take them apart. But the planning process is
something where we were talking about you basically plan three times knowing
your first two are incorrect. And not a failure, they're just simply something
probably isn't correct about how the pieces go together. So plan once, you
step back, you look at your plan, you realize can't do this and you make
adjustments. But there's a another aspect of this that is really kind of valuable
in the planning process to give yourself an awful lot of freedom. Most people
basically start talking with somebody about doing something and there appears
to be a blockage in where you want it to go-- the other person doesn't want to go
to the movies and you do want to go to the movies, that type of a thing. So
there's a really interesting concept that if you recognize you can always go
to "no." You can always go to no. You can always say, no that doesn't work for
me. But you can't always go to yes. And so it's an interesting thing if when you
know you can say no you have a tremendous amount of freedom and
permission to say, well tell me some more. How would it work? What would I have to
do? Get more information about it. Give me some more information. Tell the story that you
tell when you talk about this in class. Sure, in class we talk about this. So, so
there's a woman sitting here really attractive woman to me and I say to her
"Gee, you really look nice and would you like to go to the Caribbean with me?" and
she looks at me and goes, "No!" No, okay. So I see another attractive woman there
who was real interesting and I say, "Would you like to go to the Caribbean with me?"
and she says, "Give me a little bit more information."
Tell me more. So, well, I have just sold my business and I have a new condominium
and I'm really looking to go and enjoy myself and I'd like to go with somebody.
Oh that's really interesting, well tell me some more. So do I have my own room?
Yes, there's plenty of room. Do I have to have sex? No, not unless you want to. The
point is: tell me more. When would we do this, how much would it
cost me to go? It won't cost you anything, I've got all this money. All of a sudden
the offer seems to be really very interesting. May work, it may not work. But
the first woman said no. Never even got to hear the possibilities, using a sexist
simple silly story, but the point is pretty clear.
Same thing with: I would like to have some experiences, I would like to go on
vacation. Husband, wife talking about how do we make this happen? What's possible?
So when you understand you can always go to no and you start to embrace it in
your concept, in your planning, the ability to plan a couple of times, the
ability to say, "Tell me more, how is it possible?" when the great question is: How
would it be possible? The reason it's a great question is, there is-- the answer "No"
doesn't fit into "How would it be possible?" Well how would it possible? No,
you can't do this. Well I know I can't do it but if I could do it how would it be
possible? And the person can't keep saying no because there's --it's not a
yes/no question. And quite often the person will simply say, well I guess you
could do this. And in that context I remember a long time ago I got a ticket
or at least I got stopped, and I said to the cop, how would it be possible that
you don't give me a ticket? Well you were doing whatever. I know and, but how would
it be possible just to give me a warning? And I asked two or three times and
finally he said, all right, whatever. You know, slow down, or whatever.
To be careful. And no ticket .So this ability to basically recognize you can
always go to no, ask the question how would it be possible,
give yourself some freedom. Well exploring any new thing or exploring any
decision, that strategy allows for more. It allows for greater understanding and
the, the piece I'm thinking of is, look-- going for a job and checking out a
company to work for. And so you, you, most people find out about the company before
they walk in the door or apply for the interview and they they want to fi--
can I work here? Mm-hmm. Yeah and a lot of times if you go in to
that situation from the 'how would it be possible and I can always go to no' is,
you start interviewing the person about why I would want to work here, rather
than giving up your seniority and have them ask you all kinds of questions, some
of which you'll answer which in their game plan is the wrong answer.
But you could have said it a whole nother way, so the process is: know you can
go to no, and you ask a better question. And it's really amusing when you start
to play the game of: can we do this? what would it take? You know: "How can I
convince you to go with me to the Caribbean?" type of thing. It's freeing.
Yeah. And coupled with planning two or three times, asking a better question,
knowing you can go to no, really opens up the ability to enjoy your exploration
without having to come to a conclusion right from the very beginning
without having a full exploration. Okay now these may sound like simple little
concepts but the simple concept gives you a huge range of freedom that without
the simple concept many people don't know how to get out of
the box that they're in, and consequently can't answer the question: how would I
like to experience myself? How would I like to create? You stay stuck.
This is very much an 'unsticking' set of concepts. I don't think that's a word.
I just made that up. How would it be possible that it could become a word? How would it be possible? So
hopefully this is helpful. These little strategies, these little concepts really
begin to be the linchpins that unloosen the 'stuckness,' the limitations that we
put ourselves in. And again, this Shift is providing really, really fascinating
opportunities if you can step out of the noise and start to say, how would I like
to experience myself? So we'll stop there for today but we'll come back next week
with one more little strategy.

How to Create a Free Social Media Analytics Report From Scratch - Duration: 3:41.Autumn's here is a time of change, it's a time for reflection so it might be time
to just take a look back and see how you've been doing with your social media
content over the last period of time. So we're here to give you our six step plan
on how you can make a really really good social media analytics report for free
from scratch so here we go! Number one you need to export your data this is
normally done in the form of a CSV file, so just go to your insights on Facebook
or Twitter or whatever you are using and find the download CSV button, you can
normally do this over any kind of timeframe would be a week or a month or
a quarter up to you we normally do a month but make sure you download as
much data as you possibly can for the time frame you're after. Number two remove any unnecessary data
points, now getting all this data in one spreadsheet is pretty massive and it's a
pretty big task to wade through all that stuff and honestly not all of the data
is going to be what you need so, just make sure that you're selecting all the
relevant data points that's normally stuff like engagement reach impressions
all that kind of stuff and just sack off anything else
delete all of the unnecessary columns. Number three find your averages so what you'll have
then once you've deleted all the old stuff that you don't need you'll have a
list of all the posts that you've done over that particular date period and it
will give you all the data you need. What you want to do is find all the averages
of those data points so that's obviously total up all the different points divide
them by how many posts you did over that time frame so when finding the average
you might want to put in a median average as well that'll let you find the
average number between all your posts but will also count for any massive
posts is really really well as an outlier and still give you a fair
representation of what's average. Number four you need to find
your rate of the measure. So you've got all your data that's great so one post
got 100 likes is that good? We don't know, it might be good for your
Facebook page which had 5,000 followers but might not be as good for your Twitter
pages might have 15,000 followers although it's still a hundred likes
one's more likely to be more popular on one platform than another. So it's great
having all this data but if you find your per impression rate and your per
follower rate gives you a lot better idea of just how your content performed.
Number 5 set targets. So now you've got your baseline you know the average sort
of scores that your stuff normally tends to get it's all about trying better
yourself so what we do is it's an easy way to set a target is get your
average and multiply that by 1.5. That means trying to do an extra 50 percent
of what you're already doing. You might have better targets more clearly sort of
defined targets in your head but we find that multiplying it by 1.5 is just a
nice way to get you going. Once you started smashing those targets as well,
move the goalposts so you're always trying to better yourself. Number 6 you need to add context to
this data. So it's great you can see sort of peaks
and troughs in all your data you can see that on this date you've got a really
big spike in impressions or engagement or something like that
now add context what that means is you can go through to your posts that
happened on a particular date and you can see correlation between the post you
did and the reaction it got and obviously you want to do more of what
went well and if something didn't go so well maybe try and do that sort of
slightly differently and that's really it! I've written really big blog post that
goes into a lot more detail so you can find the link to that in the description
on this video. As ever let us know what you think
do you do stat reporting all the time are you really really new to it is there
any sort of particular ways of measuring things that you've still a bit fuzzy on
let us know in the comments or as ever tag us in on social!

How much should you aim to have in savings? | #WeNeedToTalkAboutMoney 044 - Duration: 0:44.So how much should you aim to have in savings. I'm talking about an
emergency fund here the sort of money you need to get access to if you lost
your job. If you went to a financial advisor one of the first things they would
try and make sure you had or suggest you had is three to six months of net salary
saved up in an instant access savings account. So if you lost your job you
could pay your mortgage and bills and recent research showed that most people
would probably struggle to pay the rent or mortgage or even their food bills
within one month of losing their job. So this is really to get you to think how
would you cope? Yes that sounds like a lot of money but it's a target, it's something to
aim for.

FALL FAVORITES & 90s THRIFT HAUL - Duration: 11:33.- Hi. Is it weird seeing me in your subscription box?
Because it's weird doing this.
So I thought I would do a favorites and a thrift haul video.
Because it's unlikely that I'll film two videos.
So I'm just gonna combine it into one.
And I have just like a pile of stuff,
so I'm just gonna do it and we're gonna skip the whole part where I haven't
uploaded in a month or two or I don't even know honestly.
The first thing is this Britney Spears shirt. I got it from Hot Topic and it was 20 bucks.
And it was awesome I don't know what has happened recently
but Britney Spears has like released her licensing or something because Urban
Outfitters has a shirt Hot Topic has this and target has the slave for you
era shirt and so I don't know something has happened recently and it also says
like the Britney collection on the tag of this shirt so it leads me to think
there's gonna be more coming so I don't know if you see a Britney Spears item in
any stores just tweet it to me let me know because I want to know what's going
on with that this shirts really big on me the medium was too small but the
large is too big I'm thinking once I wash it it'll get better but as of right
now it's too big!
The second thing is my new pop socket it's probably gonna be really
bright here and you can't really see it but I'll zoom in on it
it's the Spice Girls and I custom-made it and I really like it and you can
custom make your own I'll leave a link in the description I get some benefit
if you like click that link and you make your own kind of thing so if you want to
make your own like I made my own I just put the Spice Girls picture on there
definitely do it the only thing you can't do like heavily licensed items
like you can't do sports teams you can't do Disney but everything else you can do
I mean I got away with this who knows what you can do.
Next thing is this Cruella chapstick and at first I thought like this was obnoxious like
this for chapstick like this is ridiculous but have you ever like that
you can't find your chapstick well I can always find this in my bag and like it
screws off like this and then you just do that and this one Cruella tastes like
red velvet cake and it's so good and there's a bunch of them you can like
stack them up I didn't think I was gonna like it but it's huge and I always know
where it is and it tastes really good and it's cute the next thing is this
sweater it's so long and cozy it has a hood on it that I don't really like I
got it from forever 21 and I just wanted to get cold so I can actually wear this
because it's super cute and super long and I like how it looks on me especially
with black underneath it so this is a wind
and staying true to my color palette I also got this sweater from forever 21
and this isn't like a cardigan sweater this is like a full body sweater that
you can wear and it's textured on the front it's not textured on the back
which I'm not entirely sure if my like but I liked it too much from the front
to really care something I got from depop that I thought was really cool was
a Pocahontas diary it has a lock and a key too but I took it off and I put it
somewhere and it's really cool because each page is like Pocahontas and John
Smith and the way that it's made is really awesome because you can take this
out when you're finished with it and then slip another one in there so like
when I fill this up it's not done forever because I can just replace the
paper and I'm really excited about that specifically something else I got from
it was from Deepak this is the Pocahontas cassette do I need to say
more like why would I not buy this okay I actually have a couple of Pocahontas
items now that I look back down I also got her from Hot Topic because when I
bought this shirt this store was buy one get one 50% off and I was like well I
don't really want anything else and then I just noticed
Pocahontas like sticking up up there this was like well I guess I'll get her
still on our Pocahontas train it's a Pocahontas pillowcase and I'm
eventually gonna put it like actually on my pillow but I haven't washed it yet
and so it was so awesome and it's like in perfect condition if you didn't know
the compass from the movie is the center of this tattoo and
this is really cool it's so funny because I have sticky notes like to
remind myself to tell talk about things talking about depop I finally launched
my depop store so if you want to buy all of the stuff that I've told you about
that I'm selling then you can go to my depop store my user name is Daniel
dorable and this is on it this is a really cool Lion King blanket that I was
like kind of lucky to find because at the store there was like this corner
where it was just like a pile of junk it was like not organized it was just like
where everyone in the store just seemed to throw things and so I started like
wading through it because I just had like feeling I was like I should look
through this pile of junk like this is where good stuff is hidden not keeping
it because it's not officially Disney licensed and I don't love Lion King that
much but it's still a really cool fine and a perfect condition and if you want
to go to mighty pop store and see what else is on there cuz I have other cool
things on there too something else that I got from a thirst or not that one it
was a different one is this guess denim vest that's like all sequined out and
just super 90s eighties and it iced I thought that was really cute I got this
think like okay cool it's just like a pink hoodie and this is on here and then
turn it around and so that was all like my original hall stuff and then the day
I was gonna film this video my friend texted me it was like hey do you want to
go third thing and I was like I mean I guess like what else am I gonna do and
so all the next things are things I drifted that day but I got the breakfast
at tiffany's Cosette and I thought it was really cool cuz I
have it on vinyl and I'm just like I'm I don't like the movie that much but I'm
obsessed with the soundtrack like whoever made that soundtrack it probably
says it Henry Henry Henry masini pink what's left are all sheets and bedding
we went to a goodwill outlet if you're not familiar with a goodwill outlet it's
crazy they bring out like tubs of like unsorted items and you have to wait
until six of those tubs are out like everyone lines up like eyeing it like
what's in there kind of thing and then once all six tubs are out it's like a
free-for-all where everyone's just digging through things you can find some
pretty cool stuff there for cheap like if the way you pay for things it like
weighs in it and you pay by the pound so all of this stuff I got for less than
seven dollars yeah all this stuff I got for less than seven dollars so this one
I found at the end and it's the Beauty and the Beast not really fitted that
well anymore because I mean it's aged but it has a chip
what is the dusters name that like flirts with Lumiere
which I don't know she's on it and it was kind of cool I don't think i'ma keep
this one and I don't think it'll sell really well so I don't know if you want
it it's gonna be cheap on my dupatta store so just letting you know the next
the next items like I scored so hard and I can't believe I found all the pieces
and like my friend was helping me find them too so every now and then she would
come up be like hey don't you want this and I was like yeah yeah yeah I think I
found the full vintage Lion King set so this is the fitted sheet I found the
regular sheet I don't even know my gothis so this is the regular sheet and
like look at Simba right there oh my god oh my god this is so cool I think I got
three pillowcases somehow I think I found an extra one so Simba and Nala on
this side Timon and Pumbaa on this side yeah so I got three pillowcases of the
exact same thing I think so that's two it's upside down but it's the same thing
but upside down so I got the full Lion King set at the last store before we
were so tired that we were just like angry at the world
I literally yelled at a jam granted the janitor yelled at me first
so I had to explain to him that there's nicer ways to talk to humans so at that
last door I found Barbie pillowcases vintage 1991
Barbie pillowcases that honestly looked like they were never used like it feels
like I just took this out of the package and I thought these are really cool
they're two of the same thing I'm definitely keeping one of them I might
sell the other one I haven't really decided yet but I definitely have to
have one of them forever can't let that go but I think that's it
those are all the things I got somewhere thrifting items some were just some of
my favorite stuff mainly just lots of things I've gotten I also want to say
that I've been loving two songs that I've liked everyday that between driving
to work and driving home from work I will listen to it like three times on
the way and three times on the back because I'm not obsessed so the songs
are out loud by Gabby Hannah and daddy issues by Demi Lovato off her new album
they're both so good I highly recommend you listen to them
immediately add them to your Spotify playlist did you enjoy this hit the
thumbs up button if you enjoyed this and maybe I'll keep filming videos who knows
I don't I don't yours you're just as surprised as I am
who knows what's gonna happen okay well can you tell I'm just stalling to make
it in guard so it looks like I actually have definition what I'm Joe okay

Do you have a strategy to win the content game? - Duration: 1:05.In an era where 5% of all content produced by brands
Gets 90% of the engagement
Not enough companies have a strategy for how to be in the 5%
Rather than being panicked by the content consumption, especially by the C-suite
And figuring out a strategy for how to be noticed
And get engagement
The typical response is to throw more stuff out there and hoping it will stick
If you look at the movie industry right now, the only thing that
Makes the money, gets attention and engagement are blockbusters
The riskier independent, low-production films
Are not yielding returns in general, at least not like they used to when movies
Were a greenfield opportunity.
You don't want to be direct to VHS in content marketing
You want to be a blockbuster within your industry
