Why You Should Change the Way You View Time | GoalGetter vlog - 11/02/17 - Duration: 5:34.

Hey, this is Kelsey from the GoalGetter blog. Thanks for watching this video.

Today, we're gonna talk about time—specifically, how we feel about time. Time

is a limited resource. Once you use it you can't get it back. You know like

those days when you get to work and you sit down at your desk and you've got a

super long to-do list and you're like yeah let's do this. And then you work all

day and you feel like you're a hamster spinning on a hamster wheel. And at the

end of the day 5 o'clock rolls around and you have more to do on your to-do

list then you start with. The way we view time says a lot about how highly we

value our future goals and how highly we respect other people. Because if you

think about it this way: if you set challenging goals for yourself the only

way you can really achieve those is by using your time wisely. And if you really

respect other people you're gonna give them the chance to do that, too.

So, maybe you are on board with everything that I just said. You know,

maybe you're like, "yeah, Kelsey you are so smart!" Well, first of all, thank you. But,

also I mean it's not rocket science to understand that using our time wisely is

important to really achieving our goals. I'm not reinventing the wheel

when I say that. But it's very important to understand the why behind the action,

because behavioral change is pretty much impossible to achieve unless you change

the way you think about the behavior that you're changing. So, we're going to

talk about why it's important to change the way you view time, or just consider

the way you view time and think of it more as a limited resource. When you're

mindful of the way you spend your time, it automatically makes you more mindful

of how you're spending other people's time. One of the best ways to show people

that we respect them is by using their time wisely—that's over the phone, in

person, if you're asking them to proof a report you've got or something.

You want to make sure that you're respecting their time and

understanding that they've got stuff going on, too. Whenever I ask people you

know like to come down to my workspace and I want to talk to them about

something or if I call them, I want to make sure that I'm prepared and I'm not

wasting their time unnecessarily trying to find the email that I'm referencing

or the documents that I'm referencing. You know, I want to make sure that I've

got all that ready so they're not just sitting on the phone listening to me

shuffle through my papers or sort through my email, you know. Or like if I

want send someone to help me with the project I want to make sure that I've

got everything sorted ready to go we can just get to work they're not just

standing around waiting while I get everything organized. I want to make sure

that the time that they're spending helping me is not some time that they

could be doing something better or they could be adding value to the company. You

want to make sure that not only are you really highly prioritizing what you're

doing with your time, you're also highly prioritizing those around you. The last

thing I want to talk about is: whenever you're mindful of your time and how

you're spending your time it makes you more aware of what you're doing that's

necessary and what you're doing that's not necessary.

Walk with me here. Let me give you a scenario. Let's just say there's this

this person and she's at work she's been at her job for quite a while. And she

there's a report that she runs every single Monday. This is a report her boss

asked her for probably when she first started a couple years ago. So she runs

it. It takes about 20 minutes of her time every single Monday. And it's been a

decent one to two years since anyone's ever responded to it or brought it up to

her. She doesn't actually know if anyone even looks at this report when she sends

it. She just keeps doing it just because that's what she's always done. Have you

ever stopped to think about how many processes you do at work that are like

the vestigial legs on a whale? They were really useful, probably, a long time ago,

but now just about everyone has forgotten that they exist. Whenever

you're actually paying attention to how you're spending your time and what

you're doing that's valuable, it really brings to light those vestigial legs. It

makes you think about: maybe I don't need to do

this; maybe I could be doing something else that would be bringing more value

so that I could make sure that I'm actually contributing to the bottom line

of this company instead of just wasting its time. Time isn't something that we

can just let fly by while we're just trying to figure our selves out. Everyone

always talks about how time just goes by so quickly.

So, harness that. Embrace that. Grab on to that. Don't squander it. Make sure that

every minute that you're on this earth you're actually creating something and

you're adding value. Thanks for watching this video. If you want to read more

about this or other similar topics, go to www.beagoalgetter.net. That's my blog and

you can read more about this and learn about other things, too.

Thanks so much for watching. Have a great day!

Are you letting Facebook ruin your relationship - Duration: 9:57.

Ready now? Ready now. Welcome to Zippy Vibe! Are you ready to talk about Face Book some more?

When you think about Facebook the platform and how it's relatively new especially

compared to another technology like the telephone that's been around seems like

forever. Forever to us. For sure. On the telephone there's kind of some unwritten

rules with married couples like I wouldn't just call up a ex-girlfriend out

of the blue but for whatever reason on Facebook it's such a new platform and

the possibilities are endless that people end up reaching out to an ex

girlfriend or boyfriend on Facebook and it and it's just inviting... Just to see them I guess. We don't do Facebook so not sure.

I'm not exactly sure how it all works for whatever reason I guess it's

easier than making a phone call it's not as you know quite as.... Oh it's fishing.

yeah. Yeah, it's easier because it's just fishing. Sure. We are just friends on Facebook. But maybe over time as Facebook continues to evolve and

become more and more part of our lives then maybe a majority of husbands and

wives will say hey we're protecting our relationship from Facebook and we're not

going we're gonna have a Facebook account say but we're not going to have

those sorts of interactions you know there's gonna be okay boundaries. I don't

know what do you think? I think more and more married people will just get off of Facebook.

to protect their marriages and it's not about being a

jealous twit it's about just you know you go into the barbershop you're gonna

get a haircut so you know there's no point in setting yourself up for a whole

bunch of temptations and it's really interesting comment about the telephone

because an ex-boyfriend would not probably call me if they know I'm

married but they see you on Facebook and they approach you on Facebook. Right.

And you're married and they know that but it's just a trial to see well

they're married but are they happily married because you know there

are people that wait out marriages people wait out marriages. Sure.

Because they figure well you know five to seven years I'll give that one another try. Right. They circle the wagons. I will wait

this one out yeah you bring up an excellent point about the telephone

it had etiquette I guess when it was invented people had to learn to quit

just showing up at your house without calling first. Right.

We are not on Facebook because we're married and Facebook is a place where a

lot of hookups take place and I think it's now 20% of divorces could be traced

back to Facebook.

We're not cruising single bars anymore. Do they call them single bars? I don't know. What the hell.

We're not cruising the sports bars anymore.

bar hopping and doing that kind of thing meeting people out we're not on

Match.com anymore. All in all I think we made a good decision. I've never looked back

or regretted not having Facebook I was at lunch with a couple of girlfriends in

Atlanta and the first thing that came out of Mary's mouth was when are you

gonna get on Facebook? Melinda said she's not gonna get on Facebook because she

doesn't like to waste her time. That's very true.

I mean it's very true and it may be one of the best compliments I've ever received

I was really flattered that they know that and so it is also because now that

we're married I just wouldn't do that. When Facebook went public there was a

joke going around that oh now you can waste your money the same place you

waste your time. Yeah, so your marriage goes down the same drain as your

portfolio. Facebook is great for small businesses, we own and operate a small business but also I'm

talking about teeny-tiny businesses it's really small right it's it's opened up

the world for for business it really has because you can reach a marketplace so

inexpensively if you are willing to put in the work social media is a lot of work it to

market your business but it's a great platform for doing that so overall I

would give it an A++ on that and an F on Facebook for social just not not for me.

Maybe it's not just the fact that it's Facebook and what's going on but it's

the fact that we know you're missing out on so many other things.

Go grab some real life, it's awesome! See you next time hit that subscribe

button give us a thumbs up!

Have a Zippy Vibe Day!

How to Buy an Engagement Ring | The Diamond Pro Guide - Duration: 4:42.

Hey there, I'm Ira Weissman.

And I'm Mike Fried.

At The Diamond Pro we have over 20 years of combined experience helping consumers get

the most value buying a diamond.

Are you planning on getting an engagement ring?

Well, by the end of this video you'll learn some great tips

on how to avoid getting ripped off.

So, first, let's talk about how to decide on what style and setting your engagement ring will be.

Picking a setting depends largely on the wearer's personal preference.

For example, the halo setting is made up of smaller diamonds circling a larger center stone.

This setting can be hard to clean, even harder to resize, and a wearer with an active lifestyle

runs the risk of losing the smaller diamonds.

In the midst of buying an engagement ring, these are the details that most people tend to overlook.

When searching for a diamond most people seem to dwell on the 4 C's:

cut, carat, color, and clarity.

We like to divide these into two distinct parts––the characteristics you want to

see in a diamond and those that you want to avoid.

I always recommend focusing on a quality cut over anything else.

A diamond can be cut to take on various proportions and shapes.

These proportions include table and depth percentage.

How light travels through and reflects from the facets

within a diamond is dependent on these proportions.

Shallow and deep cut diamonds allow light to escape, losing their sparkle, appeal, and value.

Simply put, more attention to a diamond's cut has a greater impact on its beauty.

It's important to note the difference between diamond shape and diamond cut.

The shape refers to the diamond's outline, such as round brilliant or pear shaped.

Cut refers to the facet symmetry, depth, and reflective qualities.

So, while a heart-shaped diamond may be cut shallow or deep, dull or brilliant;

the heart shape will remain constant.

Second to cut quality you will want to buy the largest carat weight that will fit within your budget.

When people boast about their diamond, they will usually mention carat weight.

But, keep in mind that a high carat weight does not always translate to a high quality diamond.

A poorly cut, yet higher-carat diamond can look smaller than an ideal cut, lower-carat diamond.

Now, there is absolutely no reason to overpay for color

when buying a diamond for your engagement ring.

The trick here is to choose a setting that will work best with the color of the diamond.

White diamonds are graded on a color scale which ranges from colorless to a light tint

of yellow or brown. However, different color grades can still appear the same

to the naked eye if mounted properly.

A lower-colored diamond can cost 30% less

while looking exactly the same in the ring.

Another area where you can sacrifice a little to save a lot is clarity.

Clarity measures the density of imperfections in a diamond.

The highest grade on the clarity scale, flawless, is awarded to the rarest

and most expensive diamonds.

A lower clarity diamond that is still clean to the naked eye will look identical

to a flawless stone.

This is how you'll get the best value - finding the lowest clarity diamond available

that is still eye clean.

Unfortunately, you can't know if a diamond will be eye clean by looking at it's certificate alone.

Previously, it was almost impossible to inspect for clarity online, but

thanks to modern image technology

from companies like James Allen and Blue Nile, examining clarity when diamond shopping online

is now possible.

When taking the 4C's into consideration, you will also want to ensure the diamond has

been certified by a reputable lab.

The lab will evaluate the diamond, take measurements, and grade on the 4 elements

that we spoke about today.

We do recommend buying AGS or GIA lab graded diamonds

as they are the most respected lab in the industry.

Before you go, we want to test out your eyes a little bit.

Here are two diamond rings:

One ring costs $2,200, while the other is almost double, costing $4,000.

Can you tell the difference between the two?

Take a second to guess which one is more, take your time, it's OK, I can wait [Pauses].

This F-color, flawless diamond set in platinum is the more expensive ring costing

$4,000. Compared to this -- HSI2 in white gold, which is almost half the price.

No one wants to start off their engagement with the feeling of being ripped off.

Always remember that our team of experts at The Diamond Pro is here to teach you how to spot a scam.

We've worked for years going undercover as engagement ring shoppers to

scoring each jeweler on price, customer service, and more.

Before you buy an engagement ring, check out our reviews and know that if you contact us

our team will personally help you find the perfect engagement ring.

Again, I'm Ira Weissman.

And I'm Mike Fried from The Diamond Pro, thanks for watching.

6th Grade: Percent of a Number || Finding the Original Number - Duration: 5:41.

This guy Darryl has 7700 on investments after a year so he put money into the

investment account I recommend a Roth IRA and when you're young you want to do

aggressive growth that means you're buying companies that are fairly new and

there have potential for growing that way you'll make lots of money that way

and then the level off and then when you get older you could just get regular

growth because you know they're established like Microsoft and Apple so

they're not gonna jump in growth because they're already so high this guy will

just say but we'll go over that stuff later so Darryl has seventy seven

hundred dollars an investment account after a year he earned 10% during that

year that means now after a year he has this much money

that means the year before that he didn't have that much money

he had something made 10% and now he has seventy seven hundred dollars so if you

were to take a look at this as like say a picture

here's his money that's how much money he put in at the beginning of the year

at the end of the year he had an extra 10% so that is the extra and we know

overall it turns out to be seven thousand seven hundred dollars so by

looking at the picture what is that $7,700 represent yes look at that you're

not looking at the picture you're not you're still not looking at the picture

what is the whole thing you're not looking at the picture yes

so what is that what is a hundred percent plus ten percent extra no I mean

in percents I want to know what this is gonna be there you go so that whole

thing represents a hundred and ten percent that is what you should have

written down as your first thing so now we want to fight what is the question

asking so they want to know this they want to know how much he had at first so

the question is how do you turn a hundred and ten into a 100 you're gonna

have to divide I look at this and I see an eleven here and I see a 77 there

what can you divide those by oh I can divide this by eleven so I'm gonna

divide this side by 11 so 11 divided by eleven is a one with a zero at the end

of it how'd he turn to ten into a hundred

times if I what time's it by 10 multiplied by ten so you do the same

thing on this side divided by eleven well 77 divided by eleven is just seven

isn't it with two zeros after it so he had extra $700 because that's what 10%

is and then he multiplied by 10 so that's seven with how many zeros after

it count three so this guy Darryl had seven thousand dollars in his account

so this is the thing that you're learning today how to figure that out

best way to do it maybe draw a picture for it and then look at the picture and

say what does this show me well it shows the $7,700 is after the year this is how

much he had before this is how much he had extra now he has 7700 so that means

the whole thing must be like she said 110 110 they want to know the original

amount original means what hundred percent so you figure out how to turn

110 into a 100 once you could do that then you can figure this out do the

exact same thing yes mm-hmm exactly so every single problem is gonna

be just like this just realize on a test I'm not gonna tell you you're gonna be

doing it this way you have to figure out and say oh I wonder if this how do I

know if I'm gonna make this into a hundred percent or make this into more

than a hundred percent that's what you got to figure out so look at these word

problems will give you words to let you know to do it this way your job is to

figure out what those words are to help give you that hint to do it this way so

now you know how to do all them all right you're gonna have to do it this

way
