What to Look For in a WordPress Web Host - Duration: 10:03.

Hi, this is Topher with WinningWP.

In this video, we're gonna take a look at what to look for in a WordPress web host.

Of course every one of them will tell you that they're the best. How do you know which one is the right one for you?

I can't tell you which one is right for you, but I can give you some pretty good clues.

Let's take a look. First, we're going to talk about security and I want to begin by introducing you to some acronyms.

The first of which is FTP,

which stands for File Transfer Protocol, and

FTP has been the standard way of moving files around on the Internet for over 30 years.

For a very long time, it was the normal way to upload your website with File Transfer Protocol.

However,

FTP by itself is not

encrypted. It's not secure. It

sends your password over the Internet in the clear and in these days of Wi-Fi

It's very easy to just grab that password. So now we have something called SFTP, which stands for

Secure File Transfer Protocol, and the only difference is that it's encrypted.

There's another protocol called SSH, which stands for

Secure Shell.

SFTP and SSH are used almost exactly the same way.

They're encrypted ways to upload your website. If your host offers only FTP,

then you probably don't want to use them because security is not a big concern for them.

The next acronym I'm going to introduce you to is SSL,

which for Secure Sockets Layer, and this is the part that encrypts information between

your web browser and the server.

This is what makes it safe to shop online and

it has the same theory as SFTP.

It just encrypts the normal traffic and I'm going to talk about SSL some more in just a minute.

But in addition to offering you SSL, you also want your host to be running SSL on their admin panel

so that when you log in to maintain your website, it's also encrypted.

We're here at SiteGround's WordPress hosting page. If you come down here and hover over WordPress features,

you'll see there on the right side of that panel free SSLs and

HTTP2.

Now for a very long time

SSL cost anywhere from $100 to $200 dollars a year,

but recently a wonderful organization called Let's Encrypt started offering SSL certificates for free.

The downer is they have to be reissued quarterly (so four times a year), and that's a pain.

However a good host,

like SiteGround, will take care of that for you and you don't have to think about it

so you get the advantage of the free SSL without the disadvantage of having to update it quarterly.

So, a quick review of the security panel.

FTP is File Transfer Protocol and you don't want it.

What you do want is SFTP or SSH and it's Secure File Transfer Protocol.

You also want free SSL, which is Secure Sockets Layer, and it makes it safe and secure for browsers

to visit your website

even if you're not selling anything.

Keeping the traffic encrypted keeps everybody a little bit more safe.

And you want your hosts to be running SSL themselves on their own admin panel.

Speed. Everybody wants a fast website, right?

Well, here are three things that are guaranteed to make your website much faster.

PHP version 7.

It's been out for more than a year now, but still many hosts run PHP 5.

PHP 7 is dramatically faster so I highly recommend you use it. Then, there's HTTP 2.

You know the HTTP at the beginning of your web address? That's the same Hypertext Transfer Protocol

and this is version 2 and it's really fast.

And then, built-in caching with a bonus of additional support for caching plugins.

So let's see what it looks like to find these on a host.

We're still here at SiteGround and it says, "HTTP 2" right there, but it doesn't say, "PHP 7".

Let's click Plan Details

and on this page, if we search for "PHP",

you'll note right here it says, "Multiple PHP Versions

(7.1, 7.0, 5.6, and 4 and more)".

So while they do have 5.6 available, 7 is there for you, and I highly recommend you use it.

So we know that they have HTTP 2 and

PHP 7,

let's see what they have for caching.

They have built-in WordPress Special Cache for their two higher plans.

Now that doesn't prevent you from using a regular caching plugin if you're on the lower plan,

but they have built-in caching which is guaranteed to be more efficient.

So, right off the bat here

we have a host with all three of them. Now, not all hosts are as clear about some of these things.

For example,

here's Flywheel.

Flywheel is a really excellent host,

but if you go through their feature list it doesn't say things like PHP 7 and HTTP 2. It just says,

"blazing fast speeds".

Now, you can click there and

it talks about some of the things that make their sites faster -- for example, built-in caching -- ,

but nowhere on this page does it say "PHP 7" or "HTTP 2".

So now I want to show you how to find out if a host has them

so that if you like everything else about them, you can dig around and perhaps find out if they have it.

I'm going to search for

"flywheel

PHP 7" and

right at the top is one of their frequently asked questions files and

it says, "Does flywheel offer PHP 7?

Yes..." So now let's do the same for

HTTP 2 and right at the top is

their frequently asked question file and,

yes, they offer it.

So don't disregard a host simply because they don't advertise right up front a particular buzz word.

Flywheel markets to people who don't necessarily care about the buzz words, they just want fast.

But you can use Google to find out if, in fact, they do use a particular technology like PHP 7 or HTTP 2.

Our next section is safety and

the first two things are tightly tied together.

Automated backups. You want to have automated backups. You don't want to have to think about it. You want it to happen every night and,

then,

just as important is easy restore from backup.

I know of a host that does a great job with automated backups, but when you need to restore

they simply give you a zip file and you have to download it,

unpack it, find the things you need, and re-upload them. What you really want is a one-click restore. "I

need to go back to yesterday because something broke today."

And the next is daily malware scans.

Your host should be looking through your site every day looking for malware.

And, lastly, let's talk about support. Support is very, very important.

You may not use it very often, but when you do use it. You'll be really glad it's there.

The three most common types of support are phone, live chat, and email tickets.

Email tickets are when you just send them an email and say, "Hey, it's broken." and they write back and say,

"Thank you for submitting a ticket. We will get back to you within 24 hours." or whatever.

Live chat is exactly what it sounds like. A little window pops up and you start typing with somebody.

And then, of course, there's the classic phone support.

One last thing I'd like to point out before we finish this one is that there is no perfect host.

It's extremely unlikely that you're going to find any host that offers every single one of these items.

They're simply tips to look for.

For example, free SSL.

If a site offers everything else, but wants you to pay for SSL. That's fine. Paid SSL works great.

It's just fine. It's not that expensive.

If they only offer SFTP instead of SSH, that's fine. It's secure. It works.

If you like everything else about the host, go for it.

Before I let you go, I want to give you a quick tour of some hosts that I like,

that I would recommend.

SiteGround is one; we've already looked at that in this video.

They have great intro prices to get your feet wet and find out what you like in web hosting.

Then there's Flywheel. We looked at them a little bit.

Flywheels main selling point is making it as easy as possible to get your website up.

Then there's WP Engine. WP Engine costs a little bit more, but you get a lot more stuff.

More space,

more traffic, and a little bit faster. If you're looking for something a little beefier, I recommend WP Engine.

DreamHost is also excellent. I've personally hosted with them for many years.

They're similar to SiteGround in what they offer.

A2 Hosting is really great. Their emphasis is speed.

Their servers are very, very fast so, if speed is what's important to you, you may want to look here.

And, lastly, there's GoDaddy.

A large advantage of GoDaddy is a wide variety of offerings:

everywhere from super low budget to very large hosting plans.

So if you want something that'll grow with you, that may be a good place to start.

Whatever you choose. I hope it works well for you.

[Birds chirping]

[Rooster crows]

Daybreak, as usual. .

Ramil woke up to arrange the vegetables.

Vegetables that he will sell in the municipal market of Pili.

[Yawning]

My, work again

When he finished arranging the vegetables, he thought of having coffee.

He went to the living room and there drank one hot cup of coffee.

He started to gaze the four corners of the house.

He suddenly experienced sadness and said to himself:

Like what was mentioned by some of the brethren…

Oh, my… I am alone again in this very lonely house.

I may not see the beautiful life that I dream of.

Vegetable in the morning, vegetable at noon, and vegetable in the evening…

Why?

Oh, my it's already five o'clock!

[Music playing]

[Speeding motorcycle]

Thirty minutes passed and he arrived safely at the municipal market of Pili.

Just as he was loading down the sacks of vegetable,

"You are late again, Noy.

You dramatize again in the house.

Your father and I have been waiting for you.

You've been in the house for a while since you accompanied us here," his mother said.

Scratching his head, Ramil smiled and apologized to his mother.

"Mother, I'm sorry. I just drank coffee in the house.

I'm really sorry and this will not be repeated again," Ramil added.

While Ramil was speaking with his mother his father arrived.

His father approached him and joined in the conversation.

"Just let your son like that, he might get offended.

Ok, Noy, the vegetables are waiting. Many people will buy today."

They are always in a hurry in selling vegetables, because of the many people,

they almost did not find the time to take a rest.

Ramil cuts and slices the vegetable, while his father slices the jackfruit quickly.

While his mother is busy transacting with the buyers.

They almost run out of vegetables to sell, yet people keep on coming in to buy vegetables.

Suddenly a loud voice of a woman reverberated in the place.

"There! These vegetable vendors who have no stall hit the jackpot again!

We, who pay monthly rent in our big stall, we are the unlucky, and sell slowly.

See, you are so lucky!"

These are insulting words to the parents of Ramil.

This is aling Bechay who has a big stall in the vegetable section of the market.

She is also one of the rich businessmen in the town because of wealth in life,

it's her nature to feel superior and insult other people especially the poor.

"Aling Bechay we also pay rent here in our place.

We pay daily to the market guard, and we do not disturb people in the walkway,"

Ramil's mother calmly explained.

"That's true Aling Bechay we are just also working for a living.

And I think we do not disadvantage you."

Ramil's father calmly said.

In the explanation of Ramil's parents it seemed that Aling Bechay even burst into anger.

Thus the more she said bitter words against them.

"Ah, now you think you do not do me disadvantage?

If you will price your commodities like how I price mine,

you will not do me disadvantage.

If I get angry I will pay for your stall there just for you not to be able to sell there.

You annoy my life!"

And Aling Bechay threw one whole pumpkin on the road.

Ramil did not like what Aling Bechay did, so he stood up and shouted at the woman.

"Hey, it's alright to belittle and insult us,

but do not hurl something at my parents.

They are much older than you.

Just give my parents proper respect."

"Respect? Who are you to be respected?

If you like I will report you to the police."

Her words are challenging.

Ramil acted to get another pumpkin to throw pumpkin back to Aling Bechay

but he was stopped by his father.

"Noy, don't," His father calmly said.

"A bad action must not be responded with another bad act. But a good one."

These words of Ramil's father subsided his anger, so he sat and just continued doing his thing.

Even though Aling Bechay's words are not good Ramil's father still apologized.

"Aling Bechay, my apologies.

Please be calm and you still have many to collect this morning.

Just let go of my son, he just got past himself."

"Oh my, maybe it better to leave you at that so you won't ruin my day.

Hey you, sell better so my store will get better sales!" She shouted at her vendors.

As Aling Bechay left Ramil and his parents continued packing up their things.

When they finished packing and cleaning their vending place, Ramil asked permission to his parents.

"Father please give me 50 pesos I will just buy gel for my hair and a new toothbrush,

the one I use is already worn-out, I need to replace it, he spoke pitifully.

His father quickly took money and gave it to him.

Ramil happily accepted the money and hurried to leave.

As he walks by he saw a woman shouting.

"Help me, help me, my bag was snatched!"

He recognized the woman, it was Aling Bechay asking for help.

On the road he was treading there approaches a man running towards him

whose face is covered and wearing a bonnet, holding Aling Bechay's bag.

Ramil did not have second thoughts and hid to the clothes hanging on a store.

He waited for the man to come.

Simply he extended his left foot where the man stumbled.

Because he stumbled he got confused and ran away, but this time he forgot the bag and left.

Aling Bechay arrived, gasping for air, and Ramil quickly handed her the bag.

Still not catching her breath, Aling Bechay angrily took the bag from Ramil's hands.

"Hey, maybe you are the companion of that robber?

My hunch is right, you cannot be trusted, you poor people!

If I didn't reach you maybe you would have ran away with my bag."

"No, mam!I did not know him!

I just stopped him from running and took back your bag.

I just helped you and now, you are accusing me!"

"You cannot fool me. I know you poor people.

As long as you have a chance you will rob people and that is your number one method."

Ramil fell silent because of what Aling Bechay said.

He sat down and bowed his head and almost cried out of offense as if he regretted helping the woman.

"So what, now you are self-pitying! Just right for you! Robber!"

She turned back and walked across the road.

Ramil slightly raised up his head and watched Aling Betchay while walking.

Then a loud honk from a jeep reverberated.

[Jeep honking]

Everyone around shouted.

"Aling Bechay will be hit by the jeepney!"

[Fast heartbeat] [tires screeching, loud crash]

A loud bang silenced the surrounding.

Everything is slowly getting dark.

Getting darker, and a deafening silence.

[Fast heartbeat]

Then the surrounding slowly gets clearer.

As if the eyes came from a very peaceful sleep.

"Mother? Father? Where are we?"

Son, you are in a hospital."

Huh! Hospital?

Moments passed as they were conversing the doctor arrived.

Ramil, you are very lucky for just having minor bruises.

It's a miracle you did not obtain fracture or internal bleeding.

You passed out because of the accident.

Mother, Father, you have nothing to worry about,

just a few hours rest and he can be discharged.

Just take care of the bill and his bill is not that big."

"You don't have to worry about the bill. I will pay for it."

They all turned to look where that voice came from and they found Aling Bechay.

Slowly with bowed head she approached Ramil.

Ramil, I do not know how to start.

I am too ashamed of you.

For all the offenses and humiliation I did to you,

you still helped me even your life was put in danger.

Thank you.

One thing always reminds me of my father.

The bad action must not be returned with another bad action but rather a good on.

Tears rolled down Aling Bechay's eyes when she heard these words and when she composed herself she asked.

Just tell me how can I help and I will give whatever you ask.

Just to pay you back for all the bad things I did.

Especially for saving my life Ramil.

Whatever it is, how much it costs.

Tomorrow, the day is Friday.

We have exposition of God's words. May we invite you to come?

[Music playing]

She agreed and attended the Bible Exposition.

The teachings she heard called her attention.

Aling Bechay decided to continue listening and registered as doctrinal instructee.

Until she became under probation and actively attending the worship services.

The day came that she will receive the holy baptism inside the Church Of Christ.

REVENGE.

The bad action must not be returned with bad, but with blessing.

What is NAV (Net Asset Value) in Mutual Funds? - Duration: 1:28.

Hi guys,

So NAV, stands for Net Asset Value

For example, when you buy shares, you buy them at share price.

Similarly when you buy mutual funds, you buy actually units and you buy them at NAV.

NAV is effectively a sort of average of all the shares that are held in that mutual fund.

It changes daily because share price changes daily.

And when you invest money in mutual fund you are actually buying units of the mutual fund.

And when you redeem you are effectively selling the units of this mutual fund.

And it all happens at the NAV of that day.

For example, let's take Motilal Oswal Multicap 35 fund.

Its NAV on 13th November was Rs 25.60.

That means if you invest Rs 10,000 in it, you will get 390 units.

And if you are going to redeem Rs 10,000 out of it you are effectively selling 390 units.

So the idea that is here is basically in mutual funds you buy and sell units and the price

of those units is called NAV.

Thank you
