Waching daily Aug 1 2018

Hi I'm Gerry from Gerry's Craft Room and welcome to my channel

In this video I'm going make a background with the Gelli Plate

and Daily Art Velvet Effect Pastes

you can find the products in the description box below

If you are new here don't forget to click the subscribe button

I start with applying a layer of amber velvet

Effect paste and spread it with a brayer

This paste will dry pretty fast so I spritz on some water

to give me a bit more time to create texture

I just simply use bubble wrap and an empty tape roll

And then I make my print

this is lovely it gives a pretty shine and a fun texture too

now I'm going to add 2 more colours of the paste with a stencil

it spreads real easy and has the perfect thickness so it doesn't go under the stencil

Now I'm adding a bit of the Amber along the edges with my finger

Though the paste has a bit of texture it is smooth enough to use your fingers to apply

It doesn't feel weird or granular

Now I'm adding some lines with my glue gun and sprinkle on a few micro beads

Micro beads are fun to create some fine texture

And now I colour the glue with the same paste

just a little bit on my finger so I only touch the glue

And I colour a butterfly that I cut in the same way it also blends very pretty

as you will see with the black pearl that I will add at the bottom

I'm adding some glue on the body and then sprinkle on

micro beads and then I let it dry

The glue will dry clear so you will only see the micro beads

I add a bit of the green behind the butterfly

to get a more calm background is calm a good word

Anyway this way the butterfly will be more visible

I doodle on some glue and sprinkle on gold glitter

And I add the butterfly with the hot glue gun

To finish the tag I added a sentiment

If you like the video give it a thumbs up

and share it with your friends and I'll see you in the next video

thanks for watching

Can You Cut Paper With A Saw? HOW TO Cut Paper And Books The Easy Way #DIY #HOWTO - Duration: 6:04.

Paper is made of wood fibers, so can you saw it?

For this project, we go full protection, and we will be using some of my old school year

books.

Our first tool candidate is the coping saw.

Or maybe not.

I forgot that I broke my saw in an earlier project, so we will directly move to the next

candidate: the jig saw!

We want to be soft and gentle, so I'm choosing for the fine wood cutting blade.

For all my cuts, the book will be tightly clamped so that it does not move, making the

cut safer to execute.

The plan is to cut a square in the book and review how the tool behaved.

Let's go.

That went pretty well.

While we will discuss feedback later, one thing to observe is that it did generate a

lot of really fine paper dust, so we will need to step up our breathing protection.

Let's now go for the big baby, the circular saw!

The saw is fitted with an old wood cutting blade that I keep for tests.

Still needs to bit of finishing as the plunge cuts typically do not reach into the corners.

But there you have it, the square has also been cut, and caused this time a lot more

of heavy dust.

So which method worked best?

With the jig saw, the cut was easy to make, provided a good cut quality, but did require

initial holes to me made to insert the blade, and created a really fine unpleasant dust.

For the circular saw, the cut feels considerably more dangerous as the tool gives a really

aggressive cut that tears its way into the paper.

The final cut is of lesser quality, and took a lot more time to execute!

So for me, sorry to say, but the jig saw is the winner.

And if you wondered why cutting a square in old books was needed?

Because that is the best way to hide my guacamole...

Recycling Gifts to Prevent Clutter - Do's and Don'ts of Regifting - Duration: 8:24.

Recycling gifts.

What is the etiquette for recycling gifts when you want to keep your house clean and

tidy and free from a bunch of clutter of stuff somebody gives you that you never wanted and

you can't use?

Great question and we're going to talk about that today.

Hi there, I'm Angela Brown, and this is Ask a House Cleaner.

This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question, and I get to help you find an answer.

Now, today's show is brought to us by SavvyPerks.com

Talking about gifts, if you'd like to give a gift that is completely recyclable, Savvy

Perks is a great gift to give your employees.

It's an employee discount program that has partnered with America's largest employee

discount network, which has over 250,000 vendors that are restaurants and movie theaters, getting

your oil changed, getting your tires rotated, it's clothing, it's apparel, it's shoes, all

different kinds of things.

And it's a great incentive package for your employees as a gift from you to sweeten the

pot, so your employees are loyal to you.

It's like an employee rewards loyalty program.

All right, SavvyPerks.com

Okay, on to today's show, which is a question that's a really valid question; what do you

do with gifts people give you that you don't want.

All right, that's a really super sticky situation, because people give us gifts out of one of

two reasons: they love and they want us to have this gift, or they're giving it to us

out of obligation.

Now, we probably all have relatives that we've given gifts to out of obligation.

Those people ironically are people that we either know really well, or we don't know

them at all.

And so if you know them really well, you know exactly what to get them.

And if you don't know them very well, you have no idea.

So over the last few years, it's become really popular to give gift cards, because a gift

card, somebody can say, "Oh, well, there's a value attached to this, and I can take this

and I can either regift it or I can use it."

But it's not like storing trinkets and knick knacks and things that are going to collect

dust that a house cleaner would have to clean.

Also it doesn't take up space.

So a gift card is a wonderful gift, if you don't what kind of a gift to give someone

and you're on the edge wondering what to do.

Also there are people that are hard to buy for, because they have everything money can

buy and they don't need or want anything.

And so that's a lovely problem to have; what do you get those people?

So, you got to get to know those people, because there's probably something that they use,

but it might be something like stamps for their business, or it might be something like

hosting for their business, for their websites or something like that, that would be meaningful

to them, but you wouldn't know that unless you really know them.

So when people give you gifts, let's say that you get things like umbrellas, and candles,

and bath and body design products with smelly stuff or whatever.

I bring that up because I have a relative that every holiday gives me a bunch of perfumes

and potions and stuff that have sense to them, they smell funny, and I can't use them because

I am allergic to those things.

And so immediately when I get them, I say, "Thank you so much."

I write a thank you note, I appreciate it, and then I tag the product.

And I say, "Hey, I got this from so and so, and I got it on this day."

Because I don't ever want to give this product back to the same person that gave it to me, right?

And then I want to go one step beyond that.

If I'm going to regift this package of sweet smelling stuff, I want to regift it to somebody

that's not in the same family.

Now, if we were sitting around at Christmas and somebody sees me open this lovely gift,

and then they get it the next Christmas, that's super tacky.

So, I want to give it to a different family member that's like on the other side of the

family, or I want to give it to a friend or a someone else that's not in that same circle.

So, these are the rules of regifting: Number one, you want to be very gracious for whatever

it is that you received.

Whatever the reason is that you don't want it, you don't want it, you can't use it, you

don't need it, whatever.

Okay, that's fine.

But first of foremost decide right up front, am I going to use this product?

And if you're not going to use it, don't open it.

Don't open it and make it unused, because then you can't regift it.

So if you decide, "Hey, this is not for me," then the very first thing that you do ... and

I always put it on my kitchen counter.

It stays on my kitchen counter until I write a thank you note.

And that's usually a day or two.

But then I want to get it off my kitchen counter, because I don't need it, I don't want it,

and I can't use it.

So write the thank you note first and say, "Dear so and so, thank you so much for thinking

of me, lovely gift, I appreciate the thought or the spirit in which you gave it."

And so once you send the thank you note off, then I take the item itself, the package,

and I label it with that person's name; this came from so and so.

That way I can turn around and regift it to someone else.

Then I have a storage shelf, and the shelf is inside a closet in my home, and I call

it the gift shelf, because everything on that shelf is brand new, and it looks lovely, and

it's gift-ready, it's already like in a little package with like the little bows around it,

and it looks fancy and whatever.

Okay, so that's great.

Let's say that a new neighbor moves in and you want to go give them a little welcome gift.

You don't know them, they don't know you, and they don't know that somebody that you

know gave you this gift.

They don't know where it came from.

So you can take the little Post-it note off, and I just use a Post-it notes so it doesn't

leave a sticky residue, I put a new note on and say, "Hey so and so, welcome to the neighborhood."

And then I go over to them like, "Hey, welcome to the neighborhood, and I regift them this gift."

Right?

Because that way I get it out of my house, I'm able to pass it on, and maybe that person

loves this scent.

Now, if they don't, they can regift it to someone else.

I've often wondered when I receive a gift, like where in the regifting line am I?

Am I like number seven or am I number one?

Did someone go out and buy this gift for me, or has it been regifted so many times that

now finally I'm just the recipient?

Like musical gifts, it's kind of funny.

And so, the key is you want to get rid of it as soon as possible, and you want to make

sure that it never gets back to the person that gave it to you.

So if you are a regifter, and I know I am, I think a lot of people that are organized

are, because we all get stuff that we don't need, don't want, and can't use.

So, the key is, if you have a gift bag, don't actually write anyone's name on the gift tag,

because if they're going to regift it to someone else, they can put their own sticker or their

own label on it, and that way they can just keep the packaging and the wrapping and everything

all as it is.

Also if you're giving a gift card, it's great to write the amount in.

But you don't need to write to so and so, from so and so.

That can go on the outside of your card.

And the reason I say that is because gift cards also get regifted.

So for example, let's say that you give me a gift card to a particular ice cream store

or something, I'm making this up.

But let's say that I'm not eating sugar at the time.

So, I'm not going to be using that.

So, your gift card, although you spent the money, and although you gave it to me in the

spirit of fun and excitement, I'm not going to use it.

And so instead of it going to waste, I could turn around and regift that to someone else.

But if you've written in a magic marker or something, on the gift card itself, "To Angela

from so and so," I can't really regift it.

I can't use it and I can't regift it.

So that's just your money down the toilet, just you wasted it.

So, the key is you want to make it possible for your gifts to be regifted and recycled.

And so not only do you want to regift and recycle, you want to make sure the gifts that

you give are regiftable and recyclable.

All right, that is the etiquette of regifting.

Don't ever tell the person that gave it to you that you regifted it, and don't ever tell

the person you're giving it to that is a regift.

You want them to think they are number one on the regifting cycle.

All right, that's my two cents for today, and until we meet again,

leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it.

Older than YOU, 1912 penny. - Duration: 2:55.

so hello people here you going today my name is Glenn and today I'm gonna show

you some Australian coins but before we get into it if you like my channel

please subscribe and give this video a thumbs up if you like this video but

today I have a 19-12 Australian penny and this is pretty much a standard

design but the major difference is it has a hate mint mark under the reef on

the reverse in e stands for hatin because this meetin was actually the

hated mint in United Kingdom and this coin has a mintage of 3.6 million coins

and here I have a 1911 coin and it doesn't have the mint mark underneath on

the obverse so the obvious has the effigy and the effigy just means the

portrait of the king he has george v de cartier britannia omni on rex so my

price of God king of the Britons with our defender it's a great defender

something like that the Puritan of India City bought the Emperor of India

oh the mmm the Mughal or the Raj whatever you wanna call it different

languages they call them different things but I mean the same thing just

means ruler him this coin you can actually pick up mmm probably in this

grave probably like between five and ten dollars depending on where you buy it

from but it's just an also coin in this series is actually one of the better

Australian coins so Australian circulating coins have always been good

ain't no it's not so I'm not really keen on the bank notes but 1912 an awesome

coin second year of issue and pretty easy to get

but harder to get in higher grades like 1911 people would have kept in would

have been something new something to keep but after that year a lot of the

coins would have just been in circulation and people would have got

used to say not many of them would have been kept and especially if the mintage

goes down a lot of would not have been kept

so 1912 Australian penny please see this video thumbs up and comment down below

do you have anything to say about it sorry thank you very much for watching

they were awesome coin collecting toilet paper bye bye

5 HANDMADE STATIONARY ITEM IDEAS FROM THERMO-MOSAIC - Duration: 4:08.

Hi friends, this is Anna Chi with you! Today I wanna show you 5 cool homemade ideas with thermos- mosaics.

Last time I showed you how you can make cool and interesting Minecraft keychains from thermo-mosaics and today using these little beads I'm gonna be making a bookmark, a photo frame, a fridge magnet, a key chain and a pen stand.

Let's turn this usual photo frame into a cool and amazing one in an Instagram style. First of all, we gonna put out the beads and form the Instagram icon.

According to the size of the photo frame, we'll make the base from thermo-mosaic, Iron it on both sides and using hot melt glue, stick it to the frame.

I'm gonna put this peachy cat figurine inside which I made earlier using 3D pen.

I decided to make a bookmark in the form of a Minion with long legs. Put the beads on the base stand and iron them on both sides.

And for your home keys you can make a nice keychain in the form of small bright house. Form the house, iron it and hang it to the keychain.

I decided to make a fridge magnet in the form of a cheeseburger because many people like it. Lay out the beads, iron them and fix the magnet using hot melt glue. That's it.

The last but the most difficult thing for me was to make the pen stand. It's necessary to make five parts. That is, the bottom and four sides of which two are the same.

At first I wanted to put a character from some computer game but then I changed my mind and just laid out the multicolored beads.

Here the most important thing is not to overdo it and lightly iron it so that the beads don't melt too much. After we have made all the five parts, we'll join them and assemble the stand.

Now let's see what all we made today. This is a multi-colored pen stand, which will look great on the table.

You can use any color beads that you like more.

Such a photo frame in the Instagram style looks really cool and unusual. You can gift it to any of your Selfie lover friend, a keychain for the home keys in the form of a small house, a bookmark for the book or a notebook, a long-legged Minion

and a fridge magnet in the form of a cheeseburger.

Frankly, I got so much pleasure making this video. It seems like a lot of cool and interesting things can be made from a thermo-mosaic

Which you can't buy anywhere and they will be only with you.

If you liked this video and want to see what more things can be made from such beads, then be sure to hit the thumbs up and subscribe to the channel.

That's all for today! Thanks for watching, till next time, bye!

Alan Alda's Family: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 12:25.

Alan Alda's Family: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Alan Alda has Parkinson's disease.

The Oscar-nominated actor appeared on "CBS This Morning"on Tuesday, where he revealed that he was diagnosed nearly four years ago.

"I've had a full life since then," he told CBS News.

"I've acted, I've given talks, I help at the Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook… I had been on television a lot in the last couple of weeks talking about the new podcast – and I could see my thumb twitch in some shots and I thought, it's probably only a matter of time before somebody does a story about this from a sad point of view, but that's not where I am.".

Alda comes from a large family of performers.

Here's what you need to know about them:.

His Father Robert Alda Was a Screen & Stage Actor.

My new username inspiration- "And the person who is still somewhere deep in my brain, the remains of a woman who was my mother, can move me now by what she chose to keep deep down in her own vault.

The box was nearly empty; there were just a few simple things an eight-year-old might keep in her special drawer.

A bracelet. A letter.

And at the bottom, an old photograph: a picture of me when I was a boy.

In her childish handwriting, on the scalloped edge of the picture, it said: 'My beloved Allie.'" – Alan Alda, Never Have Your Dog Stuffed #alanalda #robertalda #joanbrowne A post shared by AƖαη AƖɗα (@mybelovedallie) on Jul 25, 2018 at 8:31am PDT.

Alda's father Robert was a respected screen and stage actor for more than four decades.

He began his career as a dancer in vaudeville, and made the transition to acting during the 1940s, appearing in the musical comedies Rhapsody In Blue (1945) and Cinderella Jones (1946).

He earned critical acclaim for his performance in the Douglas Sirk melodrama Imitation of Life (1959).

On stage, Robert was best known for starring in Guys and Dolls (1950), for which he won a Tony Award, and What Makes Sammy Run? (1964).

Robert acted alongside his son Alan on two episodes of the classic television show M*A*S*H: "The Consultant" (1975) and "Lend a Hand" (1980).

The latter episode also featured his younger son Antony Alda.

In an interview with The New Yorker, Alan recalls what it was like working alongside his father.

"Six years before he died, I had an idea for a part for him in M*A*S*H," he said.

"He had always wanted to be a doctor.

He had wanted me to be a doctor, too, but I couldn't stand the idea of touching sick people.

I made him an older, controlling type of surgeon, who couldn't get along with me," he continued.

"In the episode, both of us were wounded; he could use only his right hand, and I only my left hand, and that way we were able to operate together.

My father was delighted.".

Robert Alda died on May 3, 1986 due to complications from a stroke.

His Half-Brother Antony Alda Was an Actor & Director.

Antony Alda was the son of Robert and his second wife Flora Martino.

He spent his formative years in Italy before attending the Juilliard School in New York City to study musical composition.

He eventually turned to acting and directing.

Some of his most notable screen credits include Melvin and Howard (1980), Homeboy (1988), and National Treasure (2004).

He also appeared in Sweet Liberty (1987), which was written and directed by his half-brother Alan.

Antony's most notable release was the 2001 television movie Role of a Lifetime, which he wrote, directed, and acted in.

The film centered around a former movie star who must deal with the fact that he is washed up.

Role of a Lifetime received positive reviews from critics.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Antony spoke on the pressures of growing up as part of a family dynasty.

"It works for you and against you," he said.

"People figure you know what you're doing because you grew up around acting.

Other people think you got the part because of your name.".

Antony died on July 3, 2009 due to cirrhosis of the liver.

His Daughter Beatrice Alda Is an Actress & Filmmaker.

Beatrice Alda grew up acting in several of her father's releases.

She made her debut in The Four Seasons (1981), and followed that up with appearances in A New Life (1988) and Men of Respect (1990).

Beatriz also acted in select episodes of The Four Seasons (1984), a spinoff TV series that Alan created.

As she got older, however, Beatriz preferred to stay behind the camera.

She was a production assistant on Men of Respect, and later made her directorial debut with the documentary Out Late (2008).

Out Late focused on the lives of five people, each of whom are in denial about their sexual orientation.

Beatrice followed it up with another documentary, Legs: A Big Issue In a Small Town (2016).

Legs is about two homeowners who install a provocative 16-foot Larry Rivers sculpture on their property, and the backlash they get from their neighbors.

In an interview with The Hamptons, Beatrice spoke on what inspired her to make the documentary.

"We look a lot about how, in fact there's even a sociologist in the film who sort of gives a perspective on why it's important for people to see themselves reflected in their towns," she said.

"So if you move to this town that you think is quaint and historic and charming and idyllic, you want it to be that.

So when somebody puts up something that is provocative, potentially, or disruptive or causing a big stir, it ruffles feathers and makes people think that's not the town I signed on for.

That's not my small town.

His Daughter Eve Alda Coffey Lives In Massachusetts.

According to her Facebook profile, Eve studied Psychology at Connecticut College and currently lives in Winchester, Massachusetts.

While she does not work as an actress or filmmaker, Eve is vocal in her support of the rest of her family. In January, she posted a photo of her and her father with the caption:.

"Happy 82nd Birthday to my Dad! I was lucky enough that he would come to my childhood birthdays as a clown and make up magic tricks to perform at my party.

I was maybe 8 years old here… which would have made him almost 31.".

In the hours after her father went public with his Parkinson's diagnosis, Eve posted the video of his interview along with a supportive caption.

"Glad my Dad decided to go public with Parkinsons diagnosis, this morning," she wrote.

"In his interview on CBS this morning he was very upbeat (which is truly his approach), and mentioned he's continued to work and has "had a full life" since his diagnosis.

He kinda didn't mention that "full life" is putting it mildly… I think he's working more and harder now than he ever has!".

His Daughter Elizabeth Alda Is a Special Education Teacher.

Like her sister Beatrice, Elizabeth Alda acted in a pair of her father's releases: The Four Seasons (1981) and the accompanying TV series.

As she got older, however, she decided that she didn't much care for acting, and pursued a career as teacher.

In an interview with the Saturday Evening Post, Alan spoke of her daughter's career path and how proud he is of her.

"Elizabeth [was an] actress for a while," he said.

"But then Elizabeth decided she didn't really care for acting.

She became a teacher of the deaf and a special education teacher in general.

[my daughters] all have advanced degrees and I'm very proud of them.".

How to sublimate tote bags - Duration: 1:56.

Today on a How to Sublimate I'm going to show you how to make tote bags. They are

a great alternative to single-use plastic shopping bags.

Place the tote bag onto the heat press ensuring the handles are on the outside so they don't get crushed

during the pressing process. Using a lint roller, remove any excess fibres from the

surface of the tote bag. If it is creased, you can quickly pre-press for three to

four seconds, which will remove any creases in the surface.

Place the printed transfer face-down,

and secure in position using heat resistant tape. Cover the entire product

with a Teflon sheet or protective paper and then press for the recommended

times, temperatures and pressure. When time has elapsed open the heat press and

remove the Teflon sheet being careful not to remove the transfer paper, and remove

the transfer paper in an upward motion.

Thanks for watching! Remember full details on how to create these products,

including time, temperature and pressure settings can be found on the GJS knowledge base
