Themba - Monitor #03 - Johannesburg - Duration: 5:42.

The sound of Johannesburg is extremely eclectic.

We love to sing and we love to dance,

because it's the one way to get ourselves away from the memories,

and the issues that we've got in our country.

So, Johannesburg is the most eclectic city in South Africa.

If you know the background of South Africa,

you know there's all sorts of different races, and different nationalities,

that all live in the same city.

I definitely feel like I represent Johannesburg.

Particularly in my music, because my music is 'African-inspired techno'.

And also, to make it in Johannesburg is a really big deal,

because Johannesburg is like the New York, it's like the London…

Not only of South Africa, but of Africa. So to make it in Johannesburg is a really big deal.

The music basically over the last 20 years, it started off with big DJs like Oskido,

and the whole Kalawa Jazmee crew, would take big house records,

slow them down and rap over them.

That's how Kwaito started.

As time moved on, we sped up the music to a point now where

we'd be playing between 120 BPM and 125 BPM.

South Africans love to sing and dance, and it doesn't really matter what it is,

as long as it sounds good.

Jozi is basically the economic hub of South Africa, it's called the 'City of Gold'.

It basically means that everyone that is here in one way or another

is hunting or digging for gold so the energy and the hustle of the city,

you can't compare it to anything else on the African continent.

It definitely translates to the music, because all of your friends

and your peers all come from different environments.

You'll be at work and your friends will be playing pop;

at home your family will be playing local jazz and soul music from Motown and stuff;

and then when you're with your friends they'll be playing kwaito or hip hop.

They obviously influence your musical taste, and within that you fuse what you like

with what they like, and with what you've heard from other people.

It's just one of those cities where, if you're lazy and just wanna chill,

it's not the place for you.

Because everyone else around you has an agenda.

So, if you want to think where the history of South African music comes from,

this area here is very iconic.

Some of the biggest jazz artists and biggest jazz musicians either played here,

or came from this area of Johannesburg,

Jazz music initially was dance music, because it's what our parents

and their parents used to go out and dance to.

90 percent of us, the first introduction that we have to any music genre is jazz.

South African local jazz.

The history of South Africa, and the history of Johannesburg is so painful

that it can only be rich, the music that comes out of the country.

It's the escapism, you can sing and you can dance, to forget about your worries and your woes.

That's what music is, that's why music is so important

and that's why music is so big in Johannesburg.

Electronic music grew with the growth of the DJ.

The more popular the DJs became, the more popular the genre became.

Any kid that grows up here, you ask them what they want to do,

90 percent of them will tell you that DJing is in their top 5 list of things that they want to do.

I just look at what it's done for me and my personal life.

What I do has inspired other kids to go into the studio and to produce.

And what we're doing with Bridges For Music, it's giving the skills back

to people who wouldn't ordinarily have them, or have access to these skills.

How does one get out of a situation like this?

You find the thing you're most passionate about, you literally zero in on it and focus on it,

and you use it to inspire yourself and inspire others and to get yourself out of your present situation.

This place is relevant, because this is where the youth hangs out.

Anything that is going to happen in South Africa will basically start off in Braamfontein as a sneeze,

and then the whole country will catch a cold.

So the music scene in Johannesburg at the moment is currently very very exciting,

there is a lot of different producers and DJs coming up

with different sounds, and yeah, it's all globally appealing yet locally relevant material.

I was also very confused. We're so Western influenced here.

I took a flight and went overseas to Europe

to figure out what it is that a South African needs to do.

And, it's very simple - I left what the rest of the world was looking for back home.

As South Africans we've got that vibe. Especially, if you're living in Johannesburg,

you are arguably in the best place to be able to nurture your sound,

and carve your sound, and then export it to the rest of the world.

Because the rest of the world is looking for something different, something unique.

In South Africa, and Africa, we've got it.

Question: How does Nick type so fast? | Life Without Limbs - Duration: 1:02.

Alex Hoffman, thank you for sending in your prayer request.

Our team is praying for you by name and in particulars of what you shared with us on email.

I heard that you also type with your foot about 10 words a minute.

You saw a video of me saying that I can type over 50 words a minute.

I just want you to know in your question of how do I type so fast?

Practice, and sometimes when you even practice, your fastest doesn't have to look like my fastest.

Your best doesn't have to look like my best.

But doing your best is what's important.

And the thing that I want to do best in my life is love the Lord with everything that I have .

Be the best husband, be the best father and serve the Lord in every capacity

He convicts me by the Holy Spirit to do.

I love you so much.

Don't compare how quickly you can type with your toe to my toe.

We are all beautiful and perfectly made in God's image.

And whatever the enemy tried to so bad, God can turn into good.

Hang in there keep going, keep typing.

Ry Williams Levitates Dinosaurs - Duration: 2:47.

(tense music)

My name is Ry Williams, and I levitate dinosaurs.

I have been in a career within oil and gas industry

for welding.

Then I was in a career with teaching welding

and fabricating, and interested in just building stuff.

I love, always have enjoyed building things, so,

building things out of metal,

what better thing I can build than mounts for dinosaurs?

When we get the bones here, we end up cleaning the bones.

We restore the bones,

but then the main job that I get to do,

is actually levitating them.

And that's, if I do a good job, with what I do,

the creature looks like it's alive.

It looks like it is running.

It looks like it is attacking something.

It looks like it's in the position that it would have been

had it been in its prime.

You have to be open to

when somebody comes to you as well, right.

Like I wasn't necessarily pursuing a lifetime career of

building dinosaur mounts.

I don't think many people do, but I had the skills,

and I was ready, and I was also brave enough

to go, "You know what?

"This is what I wanna do."

Ee, ee, ee, ee.

(laughing)

You have to be patient.

You have to be exact, and you have to,

you have to be willing to pick a bone, put it on,

and then take it off, and then grind, and then put the bone

back on, and then mark it out.

Then take it off, put it on when dry, like endlessly,

until it's perfect.

You've gotta have that kind of a patience, as well.

And what I do, honestly, I crank tunes.

I just listen to album after album.

Crank tunes in my little welding bubble.

You're learning constantly.

When I come in during the day, like I come in,

I have never mounted this before.

It's a new, it's like every single thing

is a custom job.

But you learn those skills, and then you can apply them

to other situations.

My name is Ry Williams, I levitate dinosaurs.

Secrets of Leadership: When I Grow Up - Duration: 1:44.

Astronaut, architect, archaeologist, bunny rabbit. In that order.

I wanted to be a BluePeter presenter.

What I wanted to be when I was growing up

was successful happy healthy successful and too many people get

themselves in a rut and stay in the same job. I've always looked sideways and

tried to do different things through my career. So, nothing specific but just

different things.

Probably wanted to be an artist. It was the thing that was probably most consistent

throughout my childhood. So, obviously I'm not an artist.

When I was growing up I wanted to be a priest.

I was all signed up to be a priest

when I was finishing school and then

I went off traveling for a year and came to my senses

but I've always ended up with some kind of passion

vocation rather than a career.

When I was growing up I wanted to

be Superman and then I realised I was actually too short. I then wanted to be

an accountant and found out I was really bad at maths and then I wanted to become

a psychologist and I then realised I was actually none of the above and

became a social entrepreneur.

8 Early Signs of Ovarian Cancer You Should Not Ignore - Duration: 6:37.

8 Early Signs of Ovarian Cancer You Should Not Ignore

Ovarian cancer has been dubbed the "silent murderer" because as in other types of cancers, the symptoms may appear when the disease is already well advanced and difficult to treat.

This type of cancer is the second most common gynecological type of cancer among women, but which has a higher mortality rate because in almost all cases it is discovered when it is too late.

According to reports in recent years, only 50% of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer survive up to 5 years after initial diagnosis.

This is because in many cases it is detected at an advanced stage.

However, experts say that early detection of this disease increases life expectancy up to 95%.

Ovarian cancer can occur in women of any age, but the risk increases from age 50 and older, with women aged 65 running the greatest risk of being diagnosed with it.

It is important to learn about and know some of the symptoms that might alert us to possible ovarian cancer.

But first, remember that these are red flags that should be examined by a specialist, since they can also be related to other health problems.

Warning signs of ovarian cancer.

The following symptoms have been linked to ovarian cancer, but can also be signs of other health problems.

Having these in mind and identifying them can be key to early detection of the disease and to receiving timely treatment.

Abdominal bloating or swelling: Although this is a common symptom for a variety of health problems, feeling a swollen stomach and noting that the abdomen has increased in size could indicate ovarian cancer.

If you notice that you often have this problem, it is best to consult with a doctor.

Digestive symptoms: in addition to abdominal bloating, symptoms such as indigestion, constipation, abdominal cramps and discomfort, or any change in bowel habits are also warning signs.

Pelvic pain: pelvic pain can be a very important signal of this disease.

If the pain is frequent and seems to have no explanation, it is best to consult with a doctor and avoid masking it with some kind of painkiller.

Back pain: if you experience pain in the lower back and have no reason to explain it, this can be another symptom of the disease.

Frequent and uncontrolled urination: if suddenly you start to feel the urge to urinate frequently and you almost cannot control it, it's possible that something may not be right.

Usually these complaints are accompanied by pain or burning during urination and frequent urination at short intervals.

These symptoms may indicate a weakness of the pelvic floor muscles, or may also be clear symptoms of a urinary tract infection.

However, it is important to consult with a doctor, since it has been shown that these can also be common symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Unexplained weight gain or loss: many women often feel very happy when they inexplicably lose much weight, but they should know that this is not normal and may be a sign that something is very wrong in the body.

The same is true when there is unexplained weight gain.

Generally you can also experience a loss of appetite or a feeling of being full all the time.

Fatigue: people may feel fatigued due to a variety of health problems and even stress.

However, this symptom is also quite common when suffering from ovarian cancer.

You may feel tired, without energy and weak quite often, this is a sign that something is not right.

Pain during sexual intercourse: if instead of enjoying sexual intercourse you often suffer from pain, consult with your doctor as this is also a common symptom of ovarian cancer.

Other symptoms to keep in mind.

Vaginal bleeding in postmenopausal women.

Nausea or vomiting. Anemia.

Frequent stomach pain.

Diagnosis of ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer is difficult to detect because symptoms do not usually appear in the early stages of the disease.

However, if you experience some of the symptoms mentioned above and consult with a physician, it can be diagnosed early through ultrasound, tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and a blood test called CA-125.

Sorry To Bother You | In Car Movie Review - Duration: 7:17.

Hey this is Seth Welling and I'm doing another In Car Movie Review.

Today we're doing Sorry To Bother You, Sorry to bother you stars Lakeith Stanfield as Cassius

Green, Tessa Thompson as Detroit Armie Hammer as Steve and Danny Glover as Langston, a co-worker.

This was written/directed by Boots Riley.

He's a musician.

I've never heard him before but I'm Super Duper Old and I'm out of it.

Take that with a grain of salt.

This is Boots' pet project.

He made an album about this.

He's written a script a long time ago, like 5, 6 years ago.

And he's made a film about it.

This film has to do with telemarketers but really it has to do with life.

See, this guy Cassius needs a job and and the only way he can get a job is with a telemarketer

because he doesn't have a degree.

Danny Glover's character Langston gives him a bit of advice saying saying "Talk

in You White Voice" and not white voice like Will Smith.

A majority of the creators on this platform.

They're like "Hi How're You Doing?

My Life is Great.

I drive a Ferrari."

You know what I mean?

SO basically the voice on all social media is "My Life Is Great and I'm Happy and

You're Not!"

That's what we're talking about when we say "white voice".

There was this song called Pastime Paradise, written and sung by Stevie Wonder.

It came out in 1976.

Seriously old.

And in it, he's talking about how everyone wants to get back to their pastimes and no

one wants to live in the now.

There could be protests on the street for Civil Rights and people would be like "Oh

forget that noise.

I just want to go bak to my golf game.

I just want to go home and play a little round ball with my son.

And this idea has spread like wildfire with the invention of social media.

You're always on Facebook.

"Ooh look at my great Maui vacation.

Look at me on the beach and I'm having the time of my life."

And you're there going "Hey wait1 I've got all these problems and if I were on Maui

all my problems would be solved."

They won't be solved though.

But we all think that.

Boots Riley made a movie about it.

It's about how everyone is living under stress.

We can't pay our bills.

We have a crappy job.

The Line in the movie is "Stick to the Script".

You think it's directed at the telemarketers because they have scripts.

But it's directed at you and me.

We gotta stick to the script.

We gotta post about our Maul vacations and our Carnival Cruises and our new cars while

we are drowning in debt.

Maybe we have an opioid addiction.

Maybe we are behind on child support.

Maybe we are getting our vacation time taken away.

Maybe we're going to have our healthcare taken away at work.

Work its work and it's getting harder and harder and not giving you any perks.

It's Boots Riley telling us to be kind of "woke", you know to use that word.

And to realize what is really happening.

The companies at the top are trying to keep you down.

And the companies will give you a bed and food.

And in the movie's there's actually a company who- it's called Worry Free, and

it's basically like working for Foxconn in China where they're giving you a bed

in a dorm and like 3 squares.

And you have to work 18 hours a day in a factory producing crap for other people to buy.

It's one Foxconn, you know Guangzhou which is a big manufacturing city which manufactures

all the phones that we use and electronics and stuff.

Apple gave the workforce one day off to see their families.

And everyone was going "Oh Thank You, Apple.

for being so generous- yada yada yada.

It was a nice thing to do but Damn!

I get two days off a week!

We're working those people to death and those people could soon be Us if we let the

corporations rule everything.

You know, it's just something to think about.

I thought it was kind of just overt the top but it does have a good message to be mindful

of.

It goes way weird in the end.

Just way weird.

So it may not be your cup of tea.

But it's a really eye opening film and if you like avant-guard stuff, kind of quasi-horror,

maybe at the end, then you should watch it.

IF you like this video, click Like/Subscribe.

Visit my links in the comment box below and I'll see you at the movies.

Russ Hellickson: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 8:51.

Russ Hellickson: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

Former Ohio-State wrestling coach Russ Hellickson has reportedly suggested to some of his former players that they release a statement of support for Ohio Rep.

Jim Jordan, according to texts received by NBC News.

Hellickson told the players that they should consider recanting their testimony that Jordan knew about the sexual abuse allegations against their team doctor and did nothing about it.

In one such text to former player Dunyasha Yetts, Hellickson wrote, "I'm sorry you got caught up in the media train.

If you think the story got told wrong about Jim, you could probably write a statement for release that tells your story and corrects what you feel bad about.

I can put you in contact with someone who would release it.".

Hellickson is an Olympian and Ohio State hall-of-famer, and Jordan worked for him as an assistant coach from 1986 to 1994.

Here's what you need to know.

He Won a Silver Medal for Freestyle Wrestling at the Montreal Olympics in 1976.

Hellickson won a silver medal at the Montreal Olympics for freestyle wrestling, and was the captain of the 1980 U.S.

freestyle team.

He was also the United States Wrestling Federation's Man of the Year in 1975, its wrestler of the year in 1976, and was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1986.

Hellickson has since become a sideline wrestling commentator for the Olympics, handling play-by-play duties for the sport since the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

He Put Out a Statement of Support for Jordan With Other Former Coaches in Early July.

Along with several other former wrestling coaches for Ohio State, Hellickson released a statement of support for Jordan amid accusations that he knew about the inappropriate behavior by Strauss and did nothing about it.

"What has been said about Jim Jordan is absolutely wrong," the coaches said in the statement.

"We all worked on the wrestling coaching staff during Jim's tenure at The Ohio State University.

None of us saw or heard of abuse of OSU wrestlers.

The well-being of student-athletes was all of our concern.

If we had heard of any abuse, we would have spoken up.".

Jordan has continued to deny any knowledge of abuse during his time as assistant coach.

He Confirmed His Own Suspicions of Strauss in a Videotape Recorded by a Former Teammate.

In a video captured by a former wrestler, Hellickson admitted that he did have his suspicions of Strauss being inappropriate, though he has since maintained he didn't know of any actual abuse.

"He was always too hands-on with athletes," Hellickson said (in the video above), "I told him once, I said, 'Doc, you're much too hands-on.

' He just said, "Ah, I'm being thorough.

Hellickson also pointed out his awareness that Strauss had made other players uncomfortable by standing near them while they showered.

"I said, 'Doc, you make the guys nervous that you shower with them.' And he said, 'Coach, you shower with your guys all the time.' I said, 'Not for an hour, Doc.'".

"A number of players came to me concerned about the people that would be in the shower while they were showering, would soap themselves in their crotch area extensively and just never left," Hellickson continued.

"Every day they were seeing the same people.

When they would go into the sauna to cut weight, they had people in the sauna that had the same faces…certainly, all of my administrators recognized that it was an issue for me.".

Several Individuals Have Claimed That Hellickson Is "Under Pressure" to Defend Jordan.

According to conversations shared with NBC News, several former wrestlers believe that Hellickson is under some kind of pressure to defend Jordan's lack of awareness about the abuse at the time.

Mike DiSabito, a former wrestler, said to NBC News, "[Hellickson] called me after the story broke, too," DiSabato said of Hellickson.

"He said Jimmy was telling him he had to make a statement supporting him and he called to tell me why he was going to make it.

Other wrestlers have claimed it was impossible for any of the coaches not to have known about the abuse, as they talked about it with them in the lockers.

A wrestler who wished to remain anonymous said to NBC, "Sometimes the coaches would chase these idiots out of the shower.

One of our coaches, John Dougherty, an enormous guy, was about to rip off the head of this guy he caught masturbating in the shower.

And now he's saying there was nothing going on.".

He Was Inducted Into the Ohio State Hall of Fame in 2014.

Hellickson was inducted into the Ohio State Hall of Fame in 2014.

During his reign as coach, Hellickson trained 41 All-Americans, 5 NCAA Champions, and his teams still hold the Ohio State record for most Big Ten wins (7) and consecutive wins (15).

Hellickson has said of coaching to The Lantern, "I've gotten more satisfaction out of being in the corner when individuals are national champions than I did in my own competition.

I feel better when I have the opportunity to associate with a person who has made the sacrifices to achieve the ultimate.".

He added, "I've always tried to be fair and honest with people.

I think overall, people believe that I've been out for their best interest and challenged them to make more of themselves by giving a little bit more of myself.".

the comments below now obviously the first thing to consider is of course the

destination now many of us when we go away on cruise you like to go to the hot

climes and of course depending where you go you obviously have to pack

accordingly now of course if you're going to somewhere like the Eastern

Caribbean or the Med in the middle of the summer you are of course going to

take your Sun cream make sure you've got that higher factor to obviously stop

that sunburn now the other thing if you're going to places like Alaska or

even up into Norway then it might be very very cold of course you're gonna

take your warm clothing but please also take your suntan lotion because again

even in those conditions you can still get very very sunburned and even if

you're going to the Caribbean obviously particularly in that season may be over

over Christmas and beyond it's gonna be really really hot but they're also those

little sunshine there are a very intense short downpours so it'd be a good idea

to have a lightweight waterproof with you can take on tour

actually another little tip a lot of people get caught out by just taking a pair of

flip-flops and they're not great to wear so take some decent sandals of a good

soul because that will give you a lot more support from those almost cobbled

streets that are very prevalent around that part of the world also if you are

doing destination research really important we have got a load of

different little videos we put together for you about the different destinations

around the world and they are called keiths top tips so click

the link here to go to the website and have a look for some of our top tips for

destinations all over the world now we also have a team of highly-trained

destination increasing specialists so we're just a phone call away so you can

call the number below and we can give you the best advice of any location you

want to go to

next tip and this is a really important one

everyone always overestimates the amount of clothing they need to take with them

you always end up with half a suitcase for the stuff that you don't use so our

tip on this and Glen and I both do this is when you're laying stuff out after

you've got everything out that you think you want to take with you cut it down by

50% and then only pack that 50% it's not gonna go down well with the women

but honestly this will help and that therefore means you've got more

space for buying things and bringing them back with you as well more

space in the case yeah that's really good particularly if you're doing a

transatlantic on Queen Mary 2 you're going over to New York do a bit of

shopping you want to come back now take it take advantage of those great you

know Macy's or the great places you know yeah it's a good tip to consider please

believe us.

Now again when you bring another backpack or a smaller bag

it does make life so much easier once you're through security on board a ship

now sometimes it can take time for your suitcases to get to the room so it can

be helpful if you involve with a few essentials in the backpack

especially if you've got kids with you you can start your holiday as soon as

you get on board so maybe put some towels swim shorts on there

and when you're waiting for your suitcase to get to your room and it's nice and sunny

outside make your way straight round the pool and they can have a dip just to

cool off before your holiday gets started. really good for tours as well you might

want to take actually what we do sometimes you fill up loads of food in

there don't you go up to the buffet make

yourself a couple of sandwiches put them put them into it or you know a backpack

and take them off on tour with you.

you'd be surprised even in the coldest locations around the world when it's

still gonna be sunny and you can get caught out and also you get a lot of

glare off the sea as well so if there is something even when it's cloudy you

don't even realize you can get tanned particularly when you're out of seat

it's really really really important I've seen loads of people brag about not

needing Sun cream and then get burnt to a crisp particularly in the Caribbean and

the other thing as well you need to get decent stuff there's no point going to

the local pound shop find something for a pound great work and especially for

the kids we just bought something brooke now

about 30 quid a bottle it was good for a skin but you know it's gonna be safe, so yeah

get get if you've got children gets specifically ones that you know

specifics on cream that is designed to be on children because children skin is

different it does need more protection even if you think you are you know kind

of God's gift to sun worshipping and I know we're getting a bit dad about this

but it's really really important the SPF rating the uva rating is really important

the other thing as well is apply lots of after Sun or even better if you are in

the Caribbean get some actual aloe vera that the guys will walk along on the

beach are selling it is not a con it is incredible I've had I managed to

recommend it for my dancers I know dancers that got caught out with this

we've got aloe vera for them the next day literally you wouldn't have even now

to tell that they were burnt and these were quite bad sunburns

so aloe vera really high factor SPF look after yourself when you're out there

regardless of where you are around the world

so now again this the seems a bit

silly but make sure that with your camera and any other electrical items

you're passport and even your money is well protected now having a few is

waterproof freezer bags can really come in handy when you want to keep your

valuables dry especially when a pool or down by the beach area they take up too

much room and are perfect for sealing these small items as I said to

particularly splashing around the pool especially around the kids area they're

gonna get very very wet yeah they've really handy and also if you you know

see that that's a good little homemade cheapy option that you can do the other

thing as well is that you can buy things like this lot of brands are available

and these are really really handy as well they're not massively expensive

but, it is quite handy to put stuff in really handy again and most of them have

velcro so they offer you a lot of protection but you've got that and all

that attachments called there but you know the one that you push together and

push together velcro thing push together velcro

it's a technical term and it literally as simple as that so you can literally

carry that then and make sure that your phone is always safe and it's not gonna

get wet or damaged last thing you want is to have loads of soaked currency or you

know lose your passport get it soaking wet or even your phone

now another suggestion that you may not have thought of but actually could come

in really really useful but tickly if you're traveling as a family or you've

got a lot of documents is a document holder now we got this one from Seabourn

you do sometimes get given them when you're on board cruise ships as freebies

or prizes if you take part in some of the entertainment on board but you can

buy them online really really cheap no point having a visit once you're on

board now it's very true well for the journey back you never know where you

could replace an old one with a new one but I get what you saying we're really

handy and these are just really really good because you think you can just

literally all your stuff all your important travel bits in one place so

particularly there's like four or five different passports lots of different

tickets and things like that it all goes in and once it's there visas the like

you've got it I think that's a really really good way of doing it particularly

as I know my darling wife has lost a couple of passports in the last couple

of years and now I make sure I carry all the stuff for the whole family in

something very much like this

you mock but this is really really important okay

sticky notes might sound like a bit of a bizarre thing to

bring on a cruise ship but think about how helpful they would be you can leave

notes for family members or friends in other cabins telling them where to meet

you and you can note down the times you'll

need to meet on tour or when you have your dinner reservations they could be

useful for all sorts of other little reminders and hardly take up any room in

your luggage at all the last reason to bring them is my favorite they are good

to leave your cabin steward little messages and no not like Keith does and

say I love you but for things like requesting extra pillows or even let

them know what time you'll be out the cabin so they can clean in peace

unexpected perhaps but just a little bit of extra help for your cruise

satisfaction

as most ships do offer a laundry service never always the cheapest but they do

offer it and I mean most people don't go on holiday and start doing their

washing delay beside yes they want to find out the gossip on board yeah that's

true world problems be solved at the laundrette now this means that you can

pack less and really wear clothes and rest assured many people do especially

on longer cruises sort of 15 up to world cruises now also stick to similar colors

if you pack clothes in a similar color or all pastals for example it's easier

to mix and match and make the use of everything you bring repeatedly so again

just be a little bit sensible when you're packing your clothes now the last

quick tip we have for your clothes is to bring a portable steamer or an anti

wrinkle spray

smooth as anything there you go now they usually

won't have irons in the cabin because of fire risks of course but they have irons

in the launderette or you can ask reception now having said this cruise

ship launderettes can get quite busy so if you have the option to uncrease your

clothes in your cabin it will make life a lot easier

another quick tip as well leave the shower leave a

shower on close the door leave the shower on very hot close the door

it's probably not economically viable but yeah

now cause we are in the digital age

most of us have either a mobile phone or a tablet or both yeah most of us will

take them on board the cruise and we'll want to check it at some point and the

last thing you want is a dead phone or a dead tablet at the point that you want

to use it so a really good tip is to take one of these portable chargers with

you really really really useful the charge right before you go yeah we drive

them up overnight in the cabin and then take them out on tour with you or taken

out onto deck with you and literally just literally plug them in really

really simple and it will charge your phone and give you some energy so you

can make it through the whole of the day without this going dead

now let's talk about cameras themselves now most people nowadays use the camera

on their phones like I do but budding photographers or those who prefer an

old-school camera make sure they bring along everything they need to take their snaps

now as you can see in our 17 do's and don'ts on planet cruise weekly in

the top right hand corner one of the tips was to take plenty of photos now

when me and him started at sea we used to have to put the cloth over our head

and no one can move for a minute but it has moved on

from there now for me there's no question about this because I like to

reminisce on what I did in holiday and the best way is to keep those amazing

memories there's nothing better than a month or two after you cruise looking

back on what good times you had

now this is one which a lot of people forget and

then have to buy on board and we really would recommend you take some headphones

with you multiple reasons first of all if you are doing a fly cruise and you

want to get there and you've got in-flight entertainment the ones they

give you on board the plane are always rubbish yeah so having your own pair

which are better a good other thing as well as when you're on board it's really

really nice a for walking around the deck if you're in at night you want to

go into a bit of exercise I love to just have my headphones in listen to a bit of

music but even more importantly in that just sharing the cabin with someone else

and they want to go to bed there they're quite small places a lot of cruise ship

cabins you want to have the option to stay up a little bit later what some

kind of computer you know distance or some music and you can do that with your

own pair of headphones plus if you're out on tour again you're on a tour bus

and you fit up with a guide you just put money down you don't always wonder since

the guy dude talking about the history you just wanna listen to your own music

so take a pair of headphones like that wouldn't you see your shows and I'll

mate honestly it was like a silent disco

now when researching for this episode a little surprised not to find this tip

anywhere but this is one of the things I take on holiday when I go usually cabins

have a small amount of plug sockets I've seen people unplug their TV so they can

plug in their straighteners and chargers for instance now the main thing

you need to make sure is whatever cruise line you go on you check what plug

socket and voltages they use for example Carnival we use American plug sockets

Costa we use European where someone like p&O will have the normal plugs on me

okay so you need to make sure that if you're taking these on you've got the

right ones there's nothing worse than getting into a cabin and they don't fit

the one thing I probably would recommend you spend a little bit more money and

get one of the multi adapters that could be used around the world yeah I mean

they do have them onboard in the shop but they'll be more expensive

yeah and not as good so multi adapters the best idea and remember not

all the same ships in the same fleet will have the same plugs as well because

sometimes companies will buy a second-hand ship from somewhere else

that may have been an ex American ship for instance they're going into a

British fleet so always check with the experts such as him before you actually

joined

walkie talkies you can you can get them again online you know

you can get a packs of two three or even four of them really really really useful

particularly when you're on board because you can give one to your child

and you know pretty much that you can keep in contact all the times and know

where they are and know what they're doing

yes some ships do offer to kind of let you rent them or borrow them but to have

your own is always preferable so it's a really really good tip even if you've

got even if you know your kids with you an older family and you want to

go around the ship and you want to because some of these ships are huge

yeah I mean we've just come back from indepence the Seas which is huge ship

and I took the family on and we were on for a few days and obviously Brooke was

in a kids clubhouse Helen was doing something else I was around the pool

area so they have these he's really really good and it would have made my

life a lot easier you can do it on Wi-Fi but of course obviously if you're doing

it on Wi-Fi it's gonna eat into your data now again if you want to see the

video of us on independence the seas we took the family on I'll click the link there

and that'll take you straight to that video now there's plenty of things that

we haven't included today for instance like checking the GP before leaving

remembered medication checking your airline on what

you can take before joining the flight to get to the cruise loads a little

things like that if there's anything you think that we really should have

mentioned that we didn't get in touch in the comments below

Does stress bother you? - Duration: 4:52.

Hello I'm Jessica Hylands Confidence Coach. Are you bothered by stress? If stress is

a problem for you the best bit of information that I can give

you about it is that it's you that's creating this feeling of stress. Really?

Yes. Your stress is generated by your interpretation of events and not the

events themselves. Change the way you view things and it would change how you

feel about them. The source of your stress can come from

all sorts of different things. From big things such as financial worries or

health worries to smaller things like not being able to find your car keys. And

generally speaking when we find ourselves getting stressed about

relatively small things, there's usually a bigger underlying cause. We're feeling

stressed and then we lose the keys, so when we do it feels as though the whole

world is crashing in around us. The keys will just be icing on the cake. You may

be aware of what the bigger issue is, or it might be something that you're hiding

from yourself. If the latter you could be hiding it because you feel it's too

big to be able to cope with, or because you don't know how to cope with it. Where

do you start? In order to be able to deal with the stress you need to know exactly

what it is that's causing it. So when you feel this emotional state coming on - this

stress - write down everything that you're thinking and feeling. If you do this a

number of times you'll see a pattern emerging. And this will give you clues as

to the real cause of your stress. For example you may think that it's work

that's stressing you out but an analysis of your thoughts shows something else.

Your car is unreliable and causes you to be late all the time which in turn causes

problems at work. Therefore the cause of the stress isn't work, it's the car. And

once you know exactly what that is, it will make it easier to deal with. So if

it's an object that's causing you stress, as in the example with the car, don't

keep putting it off. Get it fixed. Get a new car. Get the bus. It doesn't matter

what you choose because whichever one you do choose will get rid of

the stress. Apply that logic to all objects.

Fix it, get a new one, or find an alternative. Now if it's a situation

that's causing you stress, analyse the situation to ascertain the exact point

that is the problem. Once you find that, think hard about it. What are your

options? Can you walk away from the situation? If not how can you improve it?

Is it a lack of confidence that stopping you from confronting an issue in order

for it to work in the way that you'd like it to? If you can't walk away and

you're not changing it, how can you view it differently so that

it doesn't cause you so much stress? Is there any way that it can be viewed from

a cup half full rather than a cup half empty perspective? And that's not easy I

know but do give it some thought. If it's another person that's causing you stress

the first thing to remember about other people is how they act towards you is

very rarely anything directly to do with you. If they're upsetting or offending

you in any way it's more than likely an expression of their own discomfort

within themselves. Unless you're aware of what it's about of course. Because when

somebody is totally happy and content they haven't got the time or inclination to be

worried about what you're doing or thinking. They're too busy smiling and

enjoying themselves. If one person is treating another badly they're usually

venting their own negativity about themselves on to you. And this being the

case, take a step back and armed with this information let their comments or

actions go over your head. Its like a bully, when they stop getting the

required reaction from you they'll stop doing it. You may be embroiled in

whatever the situation is that may have been going on for years and so it's not easy

for you to see what your options are. Indeed even if you can see them you may

feel unable to take any of them. And we all need to support at times like this

and talking to a friend or a colleague or family member

about your issue will hopefully give you a different perspective on it. I hope

that this information will help you to identify what's causing your stress and

will enable you to get it under control. If you'd like some help

do give me a call. We can have a chat and see whether we click and whether you'd

like us to work together to rid yourself of this negative feeling. So here's to a

stress-free day for all of us! Speak to you soon. Bye for now!
