Hi, I'm Magda from Ami Little Creature
In part 3 I crochet arms and attach them to the body using plastic joints.
I also sew the head to the body (insert plastic tube before).
Have a nice watching & crocheting!
Firstly I crochet ARMS - YarnArt Happy, crochet hook 3 mm.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR [6]
or I crochet ch 2 and insert the hook in 2nd chain from hook because it is hard to make MR with the fluffy yarn.
and work 6 sc.
Rnd 2: 6 inc [12]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]
Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 [24]
Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 [30]
Rnd 6-10: 30 sc [30]
See you at the end of rnd 10.
I finished rnd 10.
Rnd 11: (3 sc, dec) x 6 [24]
Rnd 12: (2 sc, dec) x 6 [18]
Rnd 13: (7 sc, dec) x 2 [16]
Then add stuffing and add it steadily as you go through next rounds.
I finished rnd 13.
I put some stuffing, but not overstuff because I will shape the paw later.
Rnd 14-26: 16 sc [16]
See you at the end of rnd 26.
I finished rnd 26,
add stuffing.
Rnd 27: (2 sc, dec) x 4 [12]
I finished rnd 27.
There is only rnd 28 to do.
But now it's time to put plastic joints.
I have ready joints but I show you also
how to join the limbs without ready joints, using simple buttons.
Insert the plastic joint between rnd 26-27
You can adjust it.
And we cannot insert the joint in neck placement.
As you can see here in Mr Bear arms.
We should place them where the arms should be, a few rounds below the neck.
The paw is a bit below the bottom.
I just try it on.
And remember to place the arms along the side of the body (regarding front and back)
It is about 6 rounds below the neck.
The first part of the joint is inside the arm sticking out of the body
I have the second part - the washer which should be put on the sticking part inside the body.
And finally I put the end to lock the joints.
I'll probably burn the end using a hot spoon to secure it better.
If you haven't plastic joints, you can use four buttons - two for each limb.
I choose two black buttons.
Take a piece of yarn (my yarn is red to show you better the joint connection).
Draw the yarn through the holes in the button.
Two-hole button is enough but I have only four-hole so have no choice.
Then thread two ends of the yarn throught the tapestry needle
and insert into the arms (from the inner side)
and pull it through the stitches of the body in the place where arms should be.
It is better to put the ready arm when it is stuffed and finished - including the first part of the joint (or the first button & yarn) (the opening is closed)
Then I take the second button and put it inside the body to make a joint, drawing two ends of yarn through two opposite holes.
It's almost ready...
Bind the ends of yarn firmly inside the body.
So it's the second way I can make moveable joints.
See how it looks like.
You can move the arm around.
So I get back to the arm I make...
I put the first part of plastic joint sticking out of the arm.
In rnd 27 I decreased to 12 st | PL: w okr. 27 (mój błąd!)
Add stuffing.
Close the hole - rnd 28: 6 dec [6]
I don't need the marker already.
Cut the yarn and leave a tail for closing the opening.
Keep the sticking part out of the arm.
The arm with the joint is ready.
Now connect the arm with the body.
Put the washer on the sticking part inside the body and safe with the end.
It is better to try it on before you put the ends.
I will burn the sticking part a bit to secure it better - but it is not necessary.
I will attach the arm on the other side in the same way.
I've attached the arms already.
I have also PVC plastic tube.
I wrapped the ends with electrical tape.
I insert the tube inside the body and head.
Then I sew the body and head.
You can mark the critical points for placement the head.
I usually mark 4 points under the head - in the place where neck touches the head.
1 - front point
You can watch the Cats in love tutorial part 2, time 8:25
2 - back point
3 - and two sides
So we have four points.
Let's start sewing.
FRONT POINT
BACK POINT
I have two points attached.
Then I will sew side parts regarding semicircle curve - just like neck should goes.
I will add stuffing steadily before I close the opening completely.
The first half is ready, now I put some stuffing and sew the second half.
Oh! And see what I've done!
I sewed the head & body but I sew the head at the back... I forgot to check it. So be careful and pay attention to front part of the legs.
Bear cannot twist the head, so I have to unravel it gently.
Fluffy yarn doesn't help.
See you for a moment.
I managed to correct the head.
The bear has the head in proper place.

See you in the next part of the tutorial.
We will crochet ears, nose, tummy, tail.
We will shape the paws, add pads
The bear will be finished.
See you! :-)
