The Spirit Works for Me: Creating Faith - Duration: 28:31.

[PASTOR MIKE NOVOTNY]

Don't forget about the

Holy Spirit.

Learn more from Pastor

Jeske of why the Holy

Spirit is so important for

your faith.

[MUSIC]

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

How many of you

know the name Christina

Rossetti?

Does that name ring a bell

to anybody?

She was a poet in England

in the Victorian era.

"Who has seen the wind?

Neither you nor I, but

when the trees bow down

their heads the wind is

passing by."

How true!

You cannot see wind; you

just see its effect on the

things around it.

In fact, Christina

Rossetti, I think,

partially stole her ideas

for that little poem from

some words of Jesus.

In John 3, Jesus told some

very puzzled people the

Holy Spirit blows like the

wind wherever he pleases.

You can't see it; you only

see the effects.

You see the effect that

the Spirit has on people.

And it pleases the Spirit

to be so quiet and

indirect.

I don't pray directly to

the Holy Spirit a lot and

I think one of the reasons

- I think there's two main

reasons; probably more

than that - but there's

two main reasons for that.

One, of course, is the

Spirit's really hard to

visualize.

Who has seen the wind?

And you know what else?

Here's the second reason

why I admit that I don't

often pray directly to the

Spirit as I might, and in

fact, I would like to.

And that's I haven't heard

his voice in the

Scripture.

We've heard the Father's

voice: "This is my son

whom I love; in him I am

well-pleased," he boomed

out from heaven.

The Father's voice is all

over; you can hear him

talking to you.

Jesus' voice is really all

over the Bible.

In fact, you open the

gospels and it's a sea of

red ink.

But there is very little

in Scripture where it says

directly, "and the Spirit

said."

The book of Revelation

probably has the most.

The letters to the seven

churches are in the voice

of the Spirit and the very

ending of the Bible has

the Spirit's voice saying

one word to you.

In fact, it summarizes his

mission.

The Spirit and the bride

say, "Come."

We do hear the Spirit's

voice; just not coming to

us quite in the way we

think.

The wind passing through

the trees is talking to

us.

Would you open your Bible

or uncrate your mobile

device to 2 Timothy 3 and

I'd like to read that last

paragraph with you.

I'd invite you to think of

yourself in paradoxical

terms like Paul; both

humble - Paul had started

his religious activity as

an adult, as a persecutor

of Christianity.

How did he ever forget the

shame of what a jerk and

an idiot he was in his

younger years?

That kept his tongue soft.

But he also was aware that

God was using him and he

gives Timothy nine things

to imitate in his life.

"You, however, know all

about my teaching."

Keep it going.

Don't let it stop.

"My way of life."

The tone I use when I

explain the gospel to

people.

My flexibility of meeting

people where they're at.

"My patience" in

explaining things in

language they will

understand.

Number three: "My

purpose."

I want my mission to be

your mission and

articulate that clearly.

Number four: "My faith."

Patience is a hard thing

to learn.

Paul's older years have

taught him that not

everything happens right

away.

That sometimes you dig and

dig and dig and you plant

and plant and plant and

water and water and water

and sometimes, it's years

or even decades before

there's a harvest, there's

a crop growing up there.

Number six: "Love."

As God has loved us,

having an attitude of

unconditional love toward

people that you don't

pre-judge them; that you

simply show God's love and

let people know they're

valuable first.

You don't try to tune

people up and straighten

them out and fix all their

dysfunctions of life

before you share the

gospel.

You share the gospel

first.

Number eight and nine:

"Persecutions and

sufferings."

Man, what happened to me

in Antioch!

He was driven out of

Antioch and expelled.

And Iconium; there was a

plant to stone them and

they had to leave town

early.

"Lystra," Timothy's

hometown, Paul literally

was stoned.

He was left for dead.

He was surrounded by

people who thought they

had killed him.

What do you - what do you

suppose that experience

was like as the rocks and

stones are slamming into

your body?

"But the Lord rescued me

from all of them.

In fact, everyone who

wants to live a godly life

in Christ will be

persecuted, while evil men

and women and imposters

will go from bad to worse,

deceiving and being

deceived.

Everyone who wants to live

a godly life in Christ

Jesus will be persecuted."

That's our life, too!

"But as for you, continue

in what you've learned and

become convinced of

because you know those

from whom you learned it."

You might think well,

there he means Paul and

that'd be true.

Did I not demonstrate to

you from my character and

the way I lived that I was

authentic?

I was not manipulating

people.

I was here to give you

things from God's word;

not to take from you.

I didn't use you; I was

God's broker to give you

things.

But as he's saying,

"Remember from whom you

heard it."

He wasn't referring just

to Paul.

You know who else he was

referring to?

"From infancy you have

known the Holy Scriptures,

which are able to make you

wise for salvation through

faith in Christ Jesus."

And this is where Timothy

heard the word of God for

the first time.

And it's a shocking word!

Where did he first hear

about God's love for him?

On his mother's lap.

In high school?

No.

Middle school?

No.

Primary school?

No. Kindergarten?

Earlier than that!

Toddlerhood?

Nope, earlier than that.

From [Audience: infancy].

That was so lame I'm going

to give you another chance

to do it again because you

need to - you have to wrap

your brain around this!

Where did he first become

connected to his Lord?

From [Audience: infancy].

Still pretty bad but I'm

going to let you get away

with that.

From infancy!

He met his God held close

in his mother's arms where

she had that good food

that made him feel so

good.

His mother's smell; she

had the momma smell that

made him feel safe.

The warmth, physical

warmth, of that embrace.

Her murmur of her voice is

where he learned about God

and the Spirit of the Lord

worked through her and

converted his heart

through the word of God.

And you might say, "Man,

you can't grasp anything

about God until you're in

high school, at least."

Not according to this

verse: "From infancy you

have known the Holy

Scriptures."

Bit by bit, the Spirit

touched his heart and

converted him.

"How from infancy you've

known the Holy

Scriptures," and what can

they do?

"They are able to make you

wise for salvation through

faith in Christ Jesus."

They are powerful enough -

it is enough to be the

connector to the Savior

whose blood has washed us

clean and whose love

promises us the

forgiveness, the favor of

God, and immortality that

you and I crave and must

have; that we cannot

generate for ourselves.

From infancy, thank you

Eunice.

Thank you, Lois.

And now, their love was

being passed on to Timothy

and through Timothy to

many other people.

We almost nothing about

his spiritual activities;

perhaps he will have

stories to tell us in

heaven.

Why is that power there

and how does it get there?

How do we become

believers?

Verse 16 has the answer:

"Because all Scripture is

God-breathed."

[Pastor: Blows air].

The breath of the Lord in

the pages of Scripture is

the Holy Spirit and that's

how you do hear the

Spirit's voice because

everything in the Bible is

the Spirit talking to you.

The Spirit is the inspirer

of the word.

Peter wrote: "Men spoke

from God as they were

carried along by the Holy

Spirit" to guarantee the

content that's in there.

Don't be fooled that it

has human authors; the

content is provided and

guaranteed by God.

It provides the authority

so that you don't have to

say, "Well yeah, Paul said

that but who is he?

Some chauvinistic dude

from the first century?

That was then; this is

now."

No, it has not only the

content you need, it has

the authority you need to

put your trust in and

essentially step out over

the cliff and know that

there's a pathway there

for you to walk on.

It gives you a rock solid

foundation for the faith

in things you cannot see.

That's why this is such a

big deal; the Spirit

guarantees the content.

The Spirit guarantees the

authority.

And the Spirit guarantees

the usefulness of it.

Not only does it connect

you to Christ, but it's

useful!

Useful for four things:

"Teaching."

Not suggestions but

helping people, especially

children from young on,

know why they exist and

the reason for their

existence.

"Rebuking;" that you can

tell the difference

between right and wrong.

"Correcting;" that you can

show the better way to

live; the way of God.

As Paul mentioned those

nine things at the

beginning of this

paragraph, live like this;

only the Scripture can

tell you that.

Otherwise, people grope

around on their own and

they have to come up with

their own value system.

That word "value,"

absolutely drives me crazy

because just saying,

"Well, those are my

values," means absolutely

nothing.

That just means that's

what I want or that's what

I like.

What if one of my

corporate values is charge

as much as you can get

away with?

What if one of my personal

values is it's not a lie

if you don't get caught?

What if one of my values

is make as much money as

you can as fast as you can

and don't worry who gets

hurt in the process.

That's a value, isn't it?

That's somebody's

operating philosophy of

life.

The word "value" is a

nothing word; it just

means whatever you want in

life.

Scripture helps you align

with God's values.

God's values are

everything.

What you and I may come up

with, we might be so -

have our heads so screwed

on backwards we don't even

know how abusive or

hurtful we're being.

God's values are good for

people.

They're good for

"correcting and then

training in

righteousness."

Why?

Not only so we can get to

heaven someday, which is a

big deal, but that we have

usefulness right here and

now so that men and women

of God may be "thoroughly

equipped for every good

work."

So the Scripture not only

helps you understand where

you came from, helps

connect you, reconnect you

to God, re-sever - reknit

up that severed connection

- but it also gives you

something to do other than

view planet earth as a

gigantic waiting room

where you sit around

killing time waiting to go

to heaven.

You've got work to do

right now.

And the church is at its

best not when it hides in

a cave waiting for like

the nuclear holocaust to

blow over, trying just to

survive and take care of

myself.

But rather, to think of

ourselves as medics in a

MASH unit where we are

rescuing the wounded, the

carnage and wreckage from

Satan's trashing of the

human race, where we are

the litter bearers and the

ambulance drivers to help

the wounded and help them

find healing and give them

some hope and get them out

of danger and bring them

back and start patching

them up.

That is when the church

and we, as individuals,

are at our best; when we

are confident in the power

of this message.

Because the Spirit is

talking to us with

information we need, with

the authority and

certainty that we need,

and with the power to be

useful.

For even though these are

God's words, when they

come out of your mouth

they're still God's words.

When you speak God's

words, they cease to be

just your words; they are

God's words, too.

So what?

Let me wrap this up with

three Pentecost challenges

for you today to honor the

Holy Spirit and to help

him in his sales work, you

might say; to help him in

his customer interface.

Number one: Appreciate

what has been done for

you.

You didn't make yourself a

believer; you were a mess

that got rescued, no

matter what age.

And it's a miracle at any

age.

You might say it's

miraculous that someone

from infancy could hear

the Scriptures and get the

slightest thing out of it.

I'll say yes, it is a

miracle!

But you know what else is

a miracle?

A grown-up coming to faith

because by the time you're

a grown-up, you've got a

hundred great excuses to

blow this off and do

something else.

It's a miracle to be

converted at any age,

including - I told you

before about the guy;

still can't get this image

out of my head; I cannot

un-see this - the guy I

baptized at age 75 in his

hospital bed who died

three days later.

That's cutting it a little

close; I don't advise

that.

[Audience: Laughter] But

it's a miracle at any age.

Appreciate that miracle

and thank the Spirit

today.

Envision talking to the

flame or talking to the

bird; whatever works for

you.

Or just send it up care of

the Holy Trinity and the

prayers will get home and

thank him for that.

Second, continue in it!

It's hard to be a witness

for the Lord if you don't

know what you're talking

about.

Continue in what you have

been taught, Paul wrote to

Timothy.

You've been to my personal

traveling seminary but you

need to stay in the word

so the Spirit can keep

talking to you.

As a correction on you,

the word of God calls us

back, rebukes us when

we're being stupid,

corrects us and sets us on

our right path and trains

us in righteous thinking

to get the right tone and

the right way to speak to

one another.

Continue in that word;

don't give it up.

Do what you're doing right

now; be in the word.

Be in it personally; be in

it in small groups.

And thirdly, continue to

use it and have no fear.

The fact that you may

experience some rejection

should just make you

smile.

Remember, people's problem

is not with you; it's with

your Boss.

You're just the messenger;

don't shoot the messenger.

And the only reason you

would ever speak any words

of the gospel to someone

is because you love them

and you'd like to spend

eternity with them.

You're not trying to

manipulate people or get

more paying customers for

your congregation.

It's because you would

like to enjoy eternity

with people and that

eternity comes through the

work of the Holy Spirit

who uses word and washing

to reconnect the lost with

him.

Come, Holy Spirit!

Live in our hearts and be

on our tongues today and

always, Amen.

[MUSIC]

[PASTOR MIKE NOVOTNY]

Thanks, Pastor

Jeske, for those great

words about the Holy

Spirit.

I remember a few years ago

teaching a Bible class on

the Holy Spirit when a man

who was brand new to

church looked at me and

said, "I kind of feel bad

for the Spirit." It's like

God gets all this glory

and Jesus gets all that

credit and, well in his

words, the Holy Spirit was

like the bass player in

the band; necessary but

easily forgotten.

But what if we didn't

treat the Spirit that way?

What if we talked to the

Spirit today?

What if we prayed directly

and personally to the

Spirit?

What if we asked the

Spirit to produce in us

what only he can: The

fruit of love and of joy

and of peace and of

gentleness and respect and

self-control.

Let's join together in

worshipping, not just the

Father and the Son, but

the Holy Spirit, too.

I'll be back with you in a

moment to pray.

[PROMOTION] "Gail - she

has some problems, some

issues - and with

understanding certain

things and this is why I

see her learning from Time

of Grace." "I grew up with

no church so it was kind

of hard for me to

understand.

I didn't know the Bible at

all; I was totally lost.

Pastor Jeske makes it

easier to understand."

"Knowing that Jesus is her

Savior is very evident in

Gail's heart." Because of

the generosity from

supporters like you, Time

of Grace can provide

encouraging

gospel-centered broadcasts

and this month any gift

you give will be worth

twice as much thanks to a

new $100,000 challenge

grant opportunity.

To thank you for your gift

today to help meet this

challenge, we'll send you

a copy of our newest book

by Pastor Dave Scharf;

"Our Father, Harnessing

the Power of the Lord's

Prayer." Receive your copy

when you give by calling

the number on your screen.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

We here at Time of Grace

have been so blessed by

your prayers, your

support, your kindness,

and your love.

Our team, and those who

work so passionately

behind the scenes, we

really thrive on the

feedback that we hear from

you; how God is really

touching your life and

changing your heart

through the words and the

message that we share each

week.

So for all of you who have

supported what we do,

thank you so much!

And if God has touched

your life, we would love

to continue to have your

support.

Your generous offerings,

the prayers that you pray

- we want to see this

message reach more lives

and see the Spirit change

more hearts than ever

before.

So would you join me in

going to the Holy Spirit

himself today in a word of

prayer?

Dear Holy Spirit, Without

you, none of us could see

Jesus.

We couldn't see how

merciful, how gracious,

how forgiving and how

amazing he is.

We would try to impress

you with our own works

instead of relying the

great things that he has

already done for us at the

cross.

We would think that

getting to heaven was a

ladder that we needed to

climb instead of a gift

that you'd just given in

Jesus' name.

And so, we thank you for

doing what we can't.

We thank you for creating

faith and we thank you for

keeping faith alive in our

hearts.

And now, Holy Spirit, we

ask you to do something

even more: To make us the

most loving people on our

block, the gentlest people

in our family, the most

respectful and

self-controlled and giving

people in our community.

We just don't want to call

on the name of Jesus and

stay inside our homes; we

want to go out into this

world and show them the

amazing glory of God.

So help us, Holy Spirit.

Free us from our sins and

fill us with the fruit of

the Spirit, as the apostle

Paul talks about in your

word.

We ask all these things

humbly - not because we're

good and we deserve it -

but because you're good

and you love to answer

these prayers.

So we come to you, Spirit,

all in Jesus' name, Amen.

With Time of Grace, I'm

Pastor Mike Novotny, and

it all starts now.

[MUSIC]

[PROMOTION -

PASTOR MARK JESKE] What a

pleasure it's been to be a

big part of Time of Grace

for 18 years.

It seems like a really

long time and yet, it

seems like it's gone very

fast.

We would never have been

able to build up such a

mass media ministry

without you and I want to

thank you for all your

love and support; your

prayers and encouragement.

Together with you, we have

been able to reach many

hundreds of thousands,

millions of people, with

all the different ways in

which Time of Grace is

able to communicate.

It's very, very important

to me that Time of Grace

not be limited to my

ability to continue to do

these things and be

limited to my work life.

It's very important to me

that Time of Grace will

have a second act.

That's why I'm thrilled to

be here at The Core today

and it's going to be my

joy to introduce you to

Pastor Mike Novotny.

Mike is here at The Core

with me today and he's

going to give me a little

tour.

After Easter of 2019, Mike

will become our chief

television speaker and I'm

absolutely thrilled to

introduce him to you today

and help you get to know

him better.

Mike is a very wonderful

speaker; has deep

scriptural knowledge.

And it's a thrill for me

that Mike will be our

leader in the second act

of Time of Grace.

Thank you for inviting me

today, Mike.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Thanks, Pastor Jeske.

Great to have you here!

Can I show you The Core?

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] I

would love to see that.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Yeah, we're honored to

have you here after

everything you've done for

Time of Grace.

So let me show you the

space where we worship

Jesus.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

Alright! [PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Come on inside!

Well, Pastor Jeske,

welcome to The Core.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] Thank

you. [PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Yes, this is our church; a

place that I've come to

love over the past four

years.

It actually used to be an

old bar and dance club.

Can you believe that?

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

[Laughter] [PASTOR MICHAEL

NOVOTNY] I invited some

people in town to church

here and I remember one

guy said to me, "I used to

drink there!"

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

[Laughter] So you're a

different kind of

bartender, huh?

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

[Laughter] Very much.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] You've

got food for eternal life.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Yeah, the water of life.

The water of life, you'd

say.

Yeah, so Sunday nights,

I've been here four years

as a pastor now.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] Hmm.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

And you've been at

St. Marcus how many?

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

Thirty-eight.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Thirty-eight years; that's

amazing.

I've got a couple years to

go. [PASTOR MARK JESKE]

[Laughter] [PASTOR MICHAEL

NOVOTNY] [Laughter] Yeah,

we're pretty excited about

worship here.

We have like this really

great mix of long-time

Christians like you and I,

and people who are brand

new to faith, and people

who have dropped out of

church, and people who

have no clue about Jesus.

So just like you know from

media ministry, we get to

speak to a whole broad

audience of people, which

is such an honor.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] Yeah.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Yeah. Well, as long as you're

here, do you mind if we

take a second and get to

know each other a bit?

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] I

would love to.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Awesome. Let's do it.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] I've

heard you refer to your

five principles.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Ah, yeah.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] What

is that? [PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Two of them that drive me

are transparency and

family.

You kind of sense it with

our social media culture

that people are maybe more

open.

I mean, even those younger

than me and younger than

you, online, we share

things that are pretty

shocking compared to what

our parents and

grandparents might have

shared.

And there's just kind of

this new idea that it's

maybe more okay to be

real, to be vulnerable,

and to be honest and I've

kind of noticed that as a

pastor.

I'm not sure if you've had

this experience; that when

people walk into a church,

they just automatically

assume that this is a

place for good people to

get better instead of for

sinners to be saved.

I love that passage in

Romans 7 where Paul says,

"I'm a wretched man.

Who's going to save me?

The stuff I hate, I keep

on doing." He's so real

there and we love Paul

because of that.

We know that if God can

save that guy, he can save

me, too.

And then family.

I know you're passionate

about your family, your

marriage, your children.

And I've heard so many

stories of people who get

so caught up in their

careers that they miss

this great calling that

God has given to them.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

Hmm-hmm.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

And when I look around our

community and even in our

church, so many families

are struggling, so many

kids don't have a mom and

a dad and so, I've always

really wanted to model

what's it like to be a

great husband, a great

dad, to give my kids a

little glimpse of our

Father in heaven because I

think if our families are

strong in our church, like

1,000 other things are

going to take care of

themselves.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] Hmm.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY] I

mean, how much would you

pay if every dad in your

church was praying with

his kids and with his wife

and, you know, passionate

about the gospel?

Clarity.

I found that even

long-time church people,

they would be so filled

with joy and peace if they

just understood some of

those really commonly

used, but maybe unclear,

biblical words.

And this is what I really

love about your teaching -

I mean, everyone who knows

you knows that you have a

ton of knowledge.

I mean, your knowledge of

history is just off the

charts, crazy.

I don't know how you fit

all that in your brain

[Laughter].

But the way that you

explain that to people, just

those simple biblical

words, that's when it gets

to the heart and it really

excites us.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

Hmm-hmm.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

So whenever I'm preaching

and whenever I'm doing a

reading, I never want to

assume that people know

what "saved" even means or

what is "forgiveness."

What does it mean that

we're "redeemed" or that

Jesus and the Holy Spirit

"sanctify" us.

So if we can really make

it clear what the

Scripture's saying, man,

that's when the word gets

to the heart and lives

really get changed.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE] I like

it.

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Yeah, I referenced it a

little bit before: Just a

passion for people who

don't know Jesus.

So much is going on in the

church with Bible studies

and fellowship and visits

that we could work 100

hours a week just with our

church family.

So I've always tried to

intentionalize thinking

about people who aren't

here just yet.

I've play in a soccer

league here in our city

and I meet so many guys

who they have no clue

about the gospel.

I don't know if they ever

heard it?

There's one guy who said

he caught Time of Grace.

He said, "Hey, I saw you

on TV the other day.

It was like six in the

morning!"

And I said, "Oh, yeah?"

He said, "Yeah, I was

still out drinking."

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

[Laughter] [PASTOR MICHAEL

NOVOTNY] So he wasn't

starting his day; he was

ending - [PASTOR MARK

JESKE] Ending his previous

day [laughter].

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

You know, we all kind of

laughed and he pauses and

he says, "So Mike, do you

think a guy like me could

make it to heaven?"

And I think about this guy

- he asked this in front

of like two whole soccer

teams - and everyone gets

quiet and they look at me

and I think about all

these people who are like

my teammates and they're

our neighbors and they're

walking past our churches

and maybe they've never

heard.

Maybe they just think

Christianity is about

being good and God will be

good to you; it's this

kind of karma idea instead

of just pure grace and

timeless truth.

So I've always tried to

keep my eyes fixed on the

lost.

Does that waitress know

Jesus?

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

Hmm-hmm. [PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

Does this person I'm

paying at the gas station

know Jesus?

I just want to pray

passionately and never

want to lose that kind of

outward focus of the great

commission.

My fifth is really about

not just reading or

hearing the word of God

but meditating on it until

it gets down to your

heart.

So in our home, we call

this "chew first." [PASTOR

MARK JESKE] [Laughter]

[PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

So before we get caught up

on screens and video games

and bedtime stories, first

we're going to put the

word of God - but we're

not just going to read it,

you know, ramble through

it and say our common

prayer - we're going to

chew on it.

Because when you do,

there's so much treasure

in there, right?

That's what I love about

technology and media.

To go back and here it a

second time or a third

time or even a fourth time

because the Spirit just

speaks and it becomes not

just grasping the point

but it really gets down

and becomes beautiful,

powerful, and it compels

us to live different

lives.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

Hmm-hmm. [PASTOR MICHAEL NOVOTNY]

So yeah, put those all

together - meditation,

passion for family,

clarity when I'm teaching,

focus on the lost, and

transparency; being really

honest - that's really

what drives me in what I

do at home and,

especially, here at

church.

[PASTOR MARK JESKE]

Thanks, Pastor Mike.

Now I guess you see why we

like him so much and are

absolutely thrilled that

Mike will be our message

deliverer going forward.

We'll be back next week

with some more personal

information telling us

about Pastor Mike and his

family, his passions, and

the type of ministry that

he brings and the messages

he'll be bringing to you

each week.

Quitting Is Not An Option, Part 4 - Duration: 28:35.

(Music)

JERRY: Hello, everyone. I'm Jerry Savelle. Thank you for

joining me today. What a joy and a privilege it is to share the

Word with you. Hopefully you'll have an opportunity to just sit

back and relax, and allow me to impart some truths that I've

learned from God's Word in how to become the winner in life

that God wants you to be. We've been talking about, for the last

several weeks, quitting is not an option. If you've been

watching, I trust you made that decision, I want you to say that

with me once again. I've had you say it several times over the

last few weeks: Quitting is no longer an option. Say it:

Quitting is no longer an option. See, once you make that

decision, then obviously Satan is going to come and he's going

to try to get you to back off on that declaration and on that

decision. But you have to fight the good fight of faith. Don't

let him talk you into giving up. Thank God you have the Word, you

have the Holy Spirit, you have God on your side. Hey, you can

do this. You can be a winner if you really put forth the effort.

So don't let the devil talk you into quitting. Now, I want to go

back to the verse that we read in the very first program that

we began talking about quitting is no longer an option. That's

from Hebrews Chapter 10 and Verse 23. It says, "Let us hold

fast the profession of our faith without wavering for he is

faithful that promise." That's the foundation, folks. If you

get this revelation, this truth, deep down into your spirit, then

praise God, that's the motivation for you refusing to

quit. You have to become deeply convicted of the reality that

God is not a man that he should lie, that God is faithful. I

want you to say that with me right now: My God is a faithful

God. And say this: God is not a man that he should lie. So

whatever he has said in his Word, it's truth, and whatever

he's promised in his Word, he fully intends to back it. Once

you discover it, then you have the privilege and the right to

believe that he will bring it to pass. But at the same time, you

can't give up. No matter how difficult, no matter how

impossible and no matter how long it takes, you have to

refuse to give up. Then let's drop down to Verse 35 of that

same chapter, Hebrews Chapter 10: "Cast not away, therefore,

your confidence." Another word for confidence is faith. "Cast

not away, therefore, your faith, which have great recompense of

reward." In other words, if you won't give up, if you won't

quit, then God is going to reward your faith. He's going to

reward that no quit, no compromise, unrelenting attitude

that you have developed regarding the Word of God coming

to pass in your life. So he says, "Don't cast away your

confidence, which have great recompense or reward for you

have need of patience." That word patience means consistency

or being constant, never changing regardless of the

circumstance. For you have need of patience that after you have

done the will of God, you might receive the promise. All of

these scriptures are simply talking about don't quit. "Don't

cast away your faith." That means don't quit. "Without

wavering." That means don't quit. "You have need of

patience." That means don't quit. That's the bottom line to

everything he's saying here: Don't quit. If you quit, then

you're going to allow the devil to rob you of God's best for

your life. So you have to make the decision that quitting is

not an option. Then, notice in Verse 38: "Now the just shall

live by faith. But if any man draw back, my soul shall have no

pleasure in him." Living by faith means you don't quit.

Living by faith means you don't draw back. In fact, the Bible

says that God has no pleasure in that. The Bible also says in

Hebrews Chapter 11, just one chapter over, that it's

impossible to please God without faith. So the just shall live by

faith. This is not an option. It's something that God has

required us to do: Live by faith, faith in his Word, faith

in his ability to bring to pass what he has promised in his

Word. He says that if you draw back, then he has no pleasure in

you. Then Verse 39, I like the way it begins: "But we are not

of them that draw back." See, he's made that decision. I am

not a person who draws back. I'm not a part of that camp. I'm not

in that quitting camp. I'm not in that drawing back camp. I've

made the decision that I'm going to stand on the Word of God no

matter how long it takes. No matter what anybody else thinks

about it, no matter what anybody else does, I am going to stand

on the Word. Like Abraham, I'm going to stick it out and I'm

going to believe that I'll receive everything that God has

promised. Can you say Amen? There's the evidence right

there, that if you make the decision that quitting is no

longer an option, then God says you're going to be rewarded. I

like rewards. How about you? God promises you will be rewarded.

Now, here's a verse that I discovered not too long ago. I

mean I've read it many times, but it just kind of jumped out

at me recently. Psalm 119 and Verse 28. It says, "My soul

melteth for heaviness. Strengthen me according to your

Word." Now, the soul is made up of the mind, the will and the

emotions, and he says, "My soul melteth for heaviness." In other

words, the pressure, the impossible-looking circumstances

is causing his soul to melt, and he says, "But strengthen me

according to your Word." Notice here he's saying that his only

hope for being able to stand, his only hope for being able to

continue to believe God, is he must have his soul strengthened

by the Word of God. The Message translation says, "Build me up

again by your Word." If you're down today, if you're

discouraged today, if you're feeling hopeless today, then the

only thing that's going to enable you to overcome all of

that is be in the Word of God. Get back in the Word. Don't run

from the Word when things look impossible. Run to the Word. The

Word will build you up. The Word will strengthen your soul.

That's what you need when you're endeavoring to stand and believe

God for what looks to be impossible things in your life.

Remember this, don't ever run from the Word. Run to the Word.

Keep feeding on the Word of God so that it will build your

faith, it will strengthen your soul, and then, it's so

important that you stay in the Word. Refuse to let go of the

Word. I can't stress enough how important it is for you to be in

the Word each and every day of your life. That's how you become

strong in faith and that's how you develop this no-quit

mentality and, praise God, that's how you inherit the

promises. Praise God. I want to encourage you to watch very

closely the announcement that we're about to share with you

about some of the resources we have available. Then,

immediately after that, we're going to come

back and finish the lesson so don't leave.

We're not done yet. I'll be right back.

ANNOUNCER God will never say it's over until you win. In

Quitting Is Not An Option, Jerry Savelle teaches what the Bible

says about conquering the temptation to quit. In this

encouraging four CD series, you will learn how to stay focused

in faith by being truly convinced God will keep his

Word, being willing to wait by developing patience, and being

in fellowship with God in his Word. You can receive victory in

every area of your life. God is looking for a group of winners

to rise up and show the world that he is greater. In the

powerful book, Called to Battle, Destined to Win, Jerry shares

how you can experience God's breakthrough power in your life.

God will provide everything you need to pursue, overtake and

recover what has been lost. Are you ready to win? Call or go

online to jerrysavelle.org and request the Born to Win package,

including Quitting Is Not An Option and Called to Battle,

Destined to Win. Make the decision today to never give up,

to never quit and to watch what your persistence will produce.

JERRY: Hey, welcome back. In a few moments, we'll share with

you the resources once again, particularly at the close of the

program, so that you will have an opportunity to write all that

information down and place your order so that we can send it to

you right away. This will be the last week that we make available

these particular resources. So once again, be watching at the

end of the broadcast, so that you could write that information

down and know-how that you can order them and get them in your

home so that you could study them and build up your faith and

become the winner that God wants you to be. All right. Now, I'm

going to read some things from my notes that I wanted to share

with you and I don't want to overlook them. Number one,

refusing to quit is only possible by staying full of God

Word. Write that down if you're taking notes. Refusing

to quit is only possible by staying full of God's

Word. If you do your part by staying in the Word,

then God will do His part by causing it to come to pass. Now,

Satan obviously does not want you experiencing God's best. He

doesn't want you experiencing the fulfillment of His promises,

and he's going to do everything he possibly can to talk you into

quitting. But make the decision that quitting is not an option.

Now, I want to take you into Matthew chapter 14 and a story

that I'm sure you're familiar with, but let's see just how

Satan operates, how he gets you to give up. Notice in verse 22,

"Straightaway, Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship

and go before Him onto the other side while He sent the multitude

away. When He sent the multitude away, He went up into a mountain

apart to pray, and when the evening was come, He was there

alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed

with waves, for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth

watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were

troubled, saying, 'It is a spirit,' and they cried out for

fear. "But straightway, Jesus spake unto to them, saying, 'Be

of good cheer, it is I. Be not afraid.'" Now notice this: "And

Peter answered him and said, 'Lord, if it be Thou, bid be

come unto Thee on the water.' And Jesus simply said, 'Come.'

And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the

water to go to Jesus." Now, I want to read that again. A lot

of people read this, and they think when Peter got out of the

boat, he immediately began to sink, but that's not what it

says. It says, "When Peter was come down out of the ship, he

walked on the water to Jesus." He was actually successful. He

was walking on the water. Don't you know that the disciples that

remained in the boat, they thought, "Look at Peter! I can't

believe it! He's walking on water, just like Jesus!" Notice

he was successful, and notice how he was successful. He

believed in the word that Jesus spoke, and that word was "Come."

As long as he held fast to God's Word or the word that Jesus

spoke, then he was successful. When he got out of that boat, he

started walking to Jesus, and, praise God, it was God's intent

that he walk all the way to Jesus, and they both walked

back, get in the boat. When they got to shore, I'm convinced that

they would have decided, "We don't need a boat anymore. We

can walk on water. We'll sell the boat, give the money to the

poor." Well, something like that anyway. But notice what

happened. "But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid

and, beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, 'Lord, save me!'"

Now, notice what happened. Satan is playing mind games with him.

"He saw the wind boisterous." In other words, obviously, the wind

was strong. It was in the natural. It looked like that it

would be impossible to continue this feat of walking on the

water. But listen, let me ask you a question. Can you walk on

the water when the wind is not boisterous? Is that the only

time you can walk on the water? Is that the rule? Is there a law

that says you can't walk on water when it's boisterous? I

don't think so because Jesus was still out there on the sea. He's

still walking on the water. But the mind games that Satan was

playing was this: "Peter, you can't keep walking on the water.

Can't you see? It's boisterous." And that's when Peter gave up.

And when Peter gave up, he began to sink. You see, when you yield

to those mind games that Satan plays with you, when he says

things like, "You don't really think that God can supply that

need, you don't really think you will be healed, you don't really

think that you're going to get out of this situation," that's

when you have to stand strong and make the decisions that

you're not going to yield to those thoughts. You're going to

stay strong on the Word. You remember what Psalm 119, verse

28 said? The Message translation says, "Build me up again by Your

Word." That's the only way you can stay strong is being built

up by the Word of God. Now, notice here, Peter began to sink

as a result of him getting his eyes off of the Word that came

out of Jesus' mouth, and that word simply was "Come." Now, I

don't want to be too hard on Peter. I don't know if you and I

would have continued either. But nevertheless, the point is, if

we let go of the Word, we begin to sink. If we let go of the

Word, we begin to experience defeat. When we let go of the

Word, when we get our eyes off the Word of God, that's when

failure starts creeping through the door. Well, we don't want to

fail, we don't want to live in defeat, and we don't want to

miss out on God's best, so make up your mind you're not going to

let go of the Word of God. If you refuse to let go of the Word

of God, Satan has no ability to defeat you. Amen. Keep the Word

in your heart. Keep the Word in your mouth. Stay strong in

faith. Refuse to quit. Let's look at another example from

Mark chapter 4. In this Mark chapter 4, it's the great

parable of the sower sows the Word. Jesus is talking about how

important the Word is in a man's heart. He goes on to say, "And

Satan comes immediately to steal the Word" because Satan knows

that it's the Word that will bring success and victory into

your life. That's why he wants to steal the Word. He wants to

get you to doubt God's ability to fulfill it. He wants to talk

you into letting go of it, give up and quit. But you can't do

that if you want to live in victory. Now, in verse 35 of

this same chapter, it says, "And the same day, when the evening

was come, He saith unto them, 'Let us go over unto the other

side.' And when He had sent away the multitude, they took even as

He was in the ship, and there were also with Him other little

ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves

beat into the ship, so that it was now full." Now, let's

remember what Jesus said to them. Remember His word: "Let us

go to the other side." Say that with me: "Let us go to the other

side." What was His will? Going to the other side. What was His

intent? Going to the other side. What did they need to hold fast

to? Going to the other side. But in the midst of that, there came

a great storm. One translation says, "Of hurricane proportion."

Notice it's Satan coming immediately to try to steal the

Word. Jesus had told them, "Let's go to the other side,

boys." But before they could ever get to the other side, this

great storm arose. Now, it says that "He was in the hinder part

of the ship asleep on a pillow. They awake him and saith unto to

him, 'Master, carest not Thou that we perish?'" Can you

imagine them saying that to Him? He had just told them how

powerful the Word of God is when it lodges in a person's heart.

It's capable of producing as much as 100 fold. He talked to

them about how important it is to hear the Word of God and how

to develop your faith in the Word of God. Now, He's told

them, "Get in the ship, boys. We need to go to the other side."

But before they could reach the other side ... and notice also

that He was so confident that He would reach the other side that

He went to sleep. He's in the back of the ship, sound asleep.

They had to wake Him up. Now, notice the storm had everybody

else concerned, but Jesus is sound asleep. Why? Because He

told them what He wanted to do, what their assignment was.

"Let's go to the other side." He did not intend for them to drown

before they got to the other side. But Satan is now trying to

steal the Word from them. The Bible says that "They began to

cry out, 'Master, don't you care that we perish?'" Can you

imagine people saying that to Jesus? "You don't even care that

we're perishing." Well, of course, He cares whether or not

you perish, but He fully intended for them to take His

word and hold fast to it and obey it and get Him to the other

side. But He said, in verse 39, "And He arose and rebuked the

wind and said unto the sea, 'Peace, be still,' and the winds

ceased, and there was a great calm. And He said unto them,

'Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?'"

That sounds like to me He was expecting them to do exactly

what He did. He expected them to get up and say, "Wait a minute,

wind. Wait a minute, storm. The Master said, 'Let's go to the

other side.' And we're going to the other side, so you just

settle down, be still, be calm because we are not giving up.

We're going to the other side." That's what He intended for them

to do, but they didn't do it. They allowed their circumstances

to talk them into giving up. They became fearful, and they

quit. Thank God, it's a beautiful how Jesus got up and

calmed the wind and calmed the storm, and they reached the

other side. But that was not His best.

His best was for them, to stay stuck, so to

speak, stay with the Word of God that he had given

them. Let us go to the other side and then take

authority over the wind, then take authority over the storm,

and praise God. It would have been a great victory for them

and it would have been inspiring to their faith. Once again,

notice how Satan will try his best to rob you of God's best.

He'll do everything in his power to try to get you to give up

before you can reach the other side. In other words, before the

promise of God is fulfilled in your life. Before we leave the

air, let's look at one more example of how important it is

to make the decision not to quit. Luke 22:31. "And then the

Lord said, 'Simon! Simon! Behold, Satan hath desired to

have you that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for

thee, that thy faith fail not. And when thou art converted,

strengthen thy brethren.'" Now, notice what Jesus prayed for

him, that his faith would not fail, that your faith fail not.

Now, the first time I read that, I have to admit I thought it was

a misprint because up to that point, listening to Kenneth

Copeland, listening to Kenneth Hagin, listening to T.L. Osborn,

listening to Oral Roberts, it never dawned on me that faith

would fail. The way they preached, faith was the victory.

Faith would move mountains. Faith would overcome every

obstacle. Now when I'm reading this and I see these words, "I

pray that your faith fail not," that was shocking to me. I

thought, "Can faith fail? That's not what I've been told. All

these great men of God have told me that faith will make a winner

out of you." Obviously, I had to do some research. I had to do

some studying and I found out that in the original, what it

actually says is this. "I have prayed that your faith will not

be reduced to inactivity." Now, that's a different story. Faith

won't fail because faith is the victory that overcometh the

world. But it can be reduced to inactivity, and you and I are

the ones who can do that. When we stop using our faith, where

we allow our faith to just lie dormant because of

circumstances, see, that's what these disciples did when they

saw that storm. Their faith was no longer active. They thought,

"We're gonna perish." That's the reason they woke Jesus up and

said, "Don't you care that we perish?" Inactive faith is not

faith at all. Notice also in the other story we saw, when Peter

saw the wind became boisterous, he began to sink. What happened?

His faith was not active at all. What Jesus is saying is, "Peter,

I have prayed that your faith will not become inactive. An

inactive faith is a result of allowing the circumstances to

convince you that there's no way out. There's no way that you can

win. There's absolutely no way that you can overcome. That's

when you stop exercising your faith. Don't let that happen.

Faith is the victory that overcometh the world. Don't

allow your faith to become inactive because inactive faith

is not faith at all. It won't produce results. Praise God. I

trust you've received great insight into the Word today and

through the study for the last four weeks. I have enjoyed

sharing it with you and I'm praying that you will make that

decision and stick with it, that quitting is no longer an option.

Watch this. I'll be back in just a few moments.

JERRY: Listen, you have got to get these resources. The last

time we'll be offering it, my book, "Called to Battle,

Destined to Win: Let the Champion in You Arise." Great

book and I tell you, I believe once you start reading it,

you're not gonna be able to put it down. It's inspiring, it's

faith-building, and I know you're gonna enjoy it. Once

again, four CDs, Quitting is Not an Option. This is covering a

whole lot more material than I was ever able to cover on the

broadcast, so be sure and place your order. Go to

JerrySavelle.org and it'll tell you how you can place the order

and we will get it to you just as quickly as we possibly can.

Hey, before we leave the air, I got some great testimonies here

to share with you. Here's one from a man named Jerry. Jerry,

thank you for writing in. "We wrote and prayed a prayer of

petition for favor to sell our house and to buy a new one. The

housing market here is not good in this area, and we went

through three real estate agents to try to sell, but we kept

standing on the Word and believing God to help us.

Finally, we sold our house and received three times more than

what we were asking for. God's timing was perfect. He even had

the perfect weather. We live here in Minnesota." Hey, I've

been to Minnesota. I used to go to Minnesota and wonder if you

guys ever saw the sunshine. But praise God. I started going in

the summertime and it's beautiful up there. But anyway,

this testimony is so awesome. They got three times what they

were asking for because they refused to give up. They refused

to throw in the towel. He says, "The favor of the Lord is upon

us and we thank you and we thank God for His favor and teaching

us how to pray the prayer of petition." Jerry, I rejoice with

you and praise God. It's a wonderful testimony and I

encourage you to just keep standing. Keep believing because

God's got so much more in store for you. Here's one from

Michael. It says, "After a fall down a flight of stairs, my wife

was hospitalized and then at home for a month, unable to get

up. But she began standing on the healing Scriptures and she's

now back to normal. Her x-rays were normal. No fractures, no

damage, glory to God." Michael, be sure and let your wife know

we rejoice with her and thank you for sending in that

testimony. Here's one. There's several here, I don't have time

to read them all. Maybe we'll get to them on a later

broadcast. Here's one from Victor. "I wanted to share my

testimony of God's goodness. I've been out of work for almost

one year and it's been tough. I spoke with a staff member at

your ministry on Monday after deciding to be more involved as

a prayer partner and a financial partner. We both agreed in

prayer. I got a new job the next day. I'm grateful to God for the

breakthrough and I believe the best is yet to come. Thank you,

Jerry Savelle Ministries. God is so good." Praise the Lord,

Victor, we rejoice with you. Hey, listen, your testimony is

just around the corner. We're standing with you. Thank

you for watching and we'll see you next week. Until

then, remember, your faith will overcome the world.

I don't wanna waste no time, yeah

You ain't got a one-track mind, yeah

Have it any way you like, yeah

And I can tell that you know I know how I want it

Ain't nobody else can relate

Boy, I like that you ain't afraid

Baby, lay me down and let's pray

I'm tellin' you the way I like it, how I want it

And I can be all the things you told me not to be

When you try to come for me, I keep on flourishing

And he see the universe when I'm in company

It's all in me

You, you love it how I move you

You love it how I touch you

My one, when all is said and done

You'll believe God is a woman

And I, I feel it after midnight

A feelin' that you can't fight

My one, it lingers when we're done

You'll believe God is a woman

I'll tell you all the things you should know

So, baby, take my hand, save your soul

We can make it last, take it slow

And I can tell that you know I know how I want it

But you different from the rest

And boy, if you confess, you might get blessed

See if you deserve what comes next

I'm tellin' you the way I like it, how I want it

And I can be all the things you told me not to be

When you try to come for me, I keep on flourishing

And he see the universe when I'm in company

It's all in me

You, you love it how I move you

You love it how I touch you

My one, when all is said and done

You'll believe God is a woman

And I, I feel it after midnight

A feelin' that you can't fight

My one, it lingers when we're done

5 Best Fruits for Liver and Kidney Health - Duration: 7:41.

5 Best Fruits for Liver and Kidney Health

Want to know how you can take better care of the health of your liver and kidneys? First of all, the most important thing is that you lead a healthy lifestyle.

Following a smart diet that limits your salt and fat intake is an essential component of that.

Getting regular exercise, quitting smoking, and managing your emotions are additional factors that you need to keep in mind.

But nature also offers a little assistance for your liver and kidney health that you can't do without: fruits.

In today's article we'll find out what the best fruits are to help us take care of our liver and kidneys.

So keep reading!.

1,Watermelon.

Watermelon…who doesn't love watermelon? It's that light, delicious fruit that's so refreshing in the summertime and mixes nicely with other juices – it can even be added to lunches and dinners.

Have you ever tried making a salad with spinach, cheese, nuts, watermelon, and mint? It's divine.

But let's examine why watermelon is especially good for your liver and kidney health:.

Watermelon is one of the best fruits for cleansing the kidneys and stimulating proper liver function, thanks to its diuretic properties and ability to detox the body.

The juice from watermelon is the healthiest way to consume it because it's more quickly absorbed into the tissues and bloodstream, which further stimulates good kidney function.

Always choose fresh watermelon.

If your fruit is overripe, it can cause more problems than benefits.

2,Cranberries.

The best way to consume cranberries is through pure juice.

Aside from being delicious, cranberry juice optimizes liver, kidney, and bladder function.

Here are some of the amazing benefits of cranberries:.

Cranberries are a natural antioxidant, and one of the best fruits you can find for natural detox.

They help remove toxins, cleanse the body and bloodstream, and protect you from the effects of free radicals.

One of the most well known properties of cranberries is their ability to keep bacteria from adhering to the walls of the bladder.

Believe it or not, that helps care for your entire gastrointestinal system.

3, Lemon.

Lemons and lemon juice could be some of the best natural and medicinal things you can consume on a daily basis.

We talk a lot in this blog about the benefits of drinking lemon water on an empty stomach, but you should know that drinking lemon juice and water on an empty stomach is also an excellent way to care for the health of your liver and kidneys.

Lemons are a natural detox agent that helps treat fatty liver disease, for example.

Rich in vitamins and minerals, lemons help optimize and strengthen the functions of the liver and kidneys.

Another benefit of lemons is that they help break down food once it reaches the stomach.

In that way, they help promote good digestion.

4,Apples.

Green apples, red apples…pick any kind you want! Choose your favorite variety or just pick the best looking ones, because they're all equally good at caring for your liver and kidneys while also protecting your heart health.

Why not include a few slices of apple in your breakfast today? Apples are a great option, but make sure you also eat the peel – that's the best part!.

Apples, in addition to helping control levels of bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the bloodstream, also stimulate proper kidney function and help detox the liver.

You should ideally consume an apple a day for the greatest benefit, just make sure to wash it well and always eat the peel.

5,Red grapes.

Always choose the darkest color grapes.

Why? They're more rich in antioxidants and other medicinal properties than white grapes.

Red grapes are a powerful diuretic that help cleanse the kidneys and enhance the function of the liver.

As you probably already know, they're full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, in addition to promoting the elimination of toxins and other harmful waste products from the body.

Red grapes have a very high water content, nearly 80%.

That makes them suitable for daily consumption, and just like apples you should always eat them with the skin on because a lot of the benefits come from this part of the fruit.

You can enjoy grapes so many different ways: with breakfast in your bowl of oatmeal or plain Greek yogurt, or added to a delicious salad made with spinach, nuts, cheese, and even a little watermelon if you like.

If you're wondering now whether drinking a glass of red wine a day can also be good for your liver and kidneys, the answer is yes! The benefits of red wine are derived from resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant that's found in red grapes and that, according to various studies, is excellent for treating fatty liver disease.

Just remember to limit yourself to one glass a day…everything in moderation!.

LeBron James' Political Views: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com - Duration: 10:54.

LeBron James' Political Views: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

LeBron James once said that he "means too much to society" to not share his political views.

James isn't shy about expressing his beliefs, whether through his words or actions.

He endorsed Hillary Clinton for the 2016 election, has publicly criticized President Trump several times and refuses to "shut up and dribble.".

James is also a longstanding, close friend of Barack Obama, whom he has a personal relationship with dating back to Obama's early years as president.

James is not one to sit by idly and hold his tongue; the world knows how he feels about the current political atmosphere and he shows no intention of slowing down anytime soon.

Here's what you need to know about James' political views:.

After a Fox News Host Told James to "Shut Up & Dribble," James Stated He "Means Too Much To Society" To Stay Quiet About His Political Views.

#wewillnotshutupanddribble A post shared by LeBron James (@kingjames) on Feb 16, 2018 at 7:47pm PST.

Back in February, Fox News host Laura Ingraham took her show to complain about James' "grammar and diction while complaining about his political beliefs," according to CNN.

Ingraham's attacks were made in response to an UNINTERRUPTED video podcast that featured James and fellow basketball star Kevin Durant, CNN reports.

The podcast's host, Cari Champion, asked the two players how they would describe the current climate for politically-engaged athletes.

James replied that the climate was "hot" and claimed that President Trump "doesn't understand the people.".

The comment angered Ingraham, who lashed out at James, calling his view a "barely intelligible, ungrammatical take on President Trump.

" She continued her tirade, taking jabs at his career, salary and life before the NBA.

"This is what happens when you attempt to leave high school early to join the NBA," Ingraham said.

"It's always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball.".

Shortly after Ingraham's comment went viral, James issued a response in the form of a photo uploaded to his Instagram account that read "I am more than an athlete" and included the hashtag "#wewillnotshutupanddribble.

He responded to Ingraham's comment by stating that her reaction just further proved that "everything I've been saying is correct.

"We will definitely not shut up and dribble.

I will definitely not do that," he said.

"I mean too much to society, I mean too much to the youth, I mean too much to so many kids that feel like they don't have a way out and they need someone to help lead them out of the situation they're in.".

He also told Ingraham that she should have done more fact-checking, emphasizing that he did actually finish high school and didn't leave early to pursue his career in basketball.

James Once Claimed That President Trump Doesn't Give a "F–k" About The People.

In the same UNINTERRUPTED video podcast that sparked Ingraham's angry response, James launched an attack on the president, claiming that he doesn't understand or give a "f–k" about the people in his own country.

"The number one job in America … is someone who doesn't understand the people, and really don't give a f–k about the people," James said in a video alongside fellow NBA All-Star Kevin Durant.

The interview was conducted in February, just after the US president is said to have referred to Central American and African countries as "s–tholes." James said he was not shocked by Trump's comments: "It's not even a surprise when he says something," the three-time NBA champion said.

"It's, like, laughable; it's laughable and it's scary.".

James also called Trump a "bum" last September, shortly after Durant and his Warriors teammates indicated that they didn't want to make the traditional NBA championship winners' visit to the White House.

He Endorsed Hillary Clinton for the 2016 Presidential Election & Hosted a Free Concert to Raise Awareness & Urge People to Vote.

In October, 2016, James officially endorsed Hillary Clinton for the 2016 presidential election, the day before she was scheduled to visit his hometown in Akron, Ohio.

In the op-ed piece published by Business Insider, James said his goal after winning multiple NBA championships is to "mentor and provide support for children who grew up in Northeast Ohio.

"When I look at this year's presidential race, it's clear which candidate believes the same thing," James wrote.

"Only one person running truly understands the struggles of an Akron child born into poverty.

And when I think about the kinds of policies and ideas the kids in my foundation need from our government, the choice is clear.

That candidate is Hillary Clinton.".

Clinton said she was "thrilled" to have James' endorsement.

"LeBron is a dedicated advocate for children.

It's a deep personal commitment that he has that I share with him.

We both believe every single child should have the chance to live up to his or her God given potential.".

He also hosted a free concert to raise money and awareness for the campaign where Jay-Z also performed.

James said at the event:.

I want everybody in here, moms, dads, aunts, uncles to get out and vote.

November fourth is the most important day of our lives.

James Said in an Interview That Trump Voters "Made a Mistake" In Casting Their Votes.

In September, 2017, James made a controversial comment during the Cav's media day, suggesting that people who voted for President Trump "made a mistake" or were "uneducated" in casting their ballots, according to the NBA.

NBA wrote that James was in a good mood, and willing to entertain questions from anybody, about anything, so when the conversation took a turn toward James' thoughts and feelings on Trump, he made a comment that didn't sit well with many Trump supporters.

"No matter whether you voted for him or not, you may have made a mistake and that's OK, if you voted for him.

It's OK.

I've done things for my daughter and realized I shouldn't have gave my daughter that many damn Skittles.

Maybe I shouldn't have done that.".

He went on to explain that he didn't think a lot of the people that voted for Trump were that educated on his policies or up-to-date on what's going on in the country.

"At the end of the day, I don't think a lot of people was educated," he said.

"And I think that's one of the biggest problems that we have.

When it becomes vote time, people are just not educated on either the individual or what's going on in the state of the world right now.

… I don't think a lot of people are educated and they make choices and say things that are uneducated.

James Sported an "I Can't Breathe" Shirt in 2014 in Support of a Black Man Killed in an Altercation with Police.

James was spotted wearing a shirt emblazoned with the words "I Can't Breathe" in place of his jersey during a December, 2014 Cavalier's game.

Fellow Cav's player Kyrie Irving also sported the shirt, in solidarity with several other NBA players.

"I can't breathe" were the last words of Eric Garner, who died in July, 2014 after a confrontation with a New York Police Department officer.

The government has said that since the deaths, there will be increased traffic police and speed bump construction around schools.
