What do you need to do? The Secret to Health and Fitness - Duration: 4:50.

What? We're back! Did you do the five 'Whys' exercise? I want to share with you my why.

The question I had for myself, why do I do health and fitness coaching, when I asked

myself the question the first answer was something pretty mundane but still valid

and good. I just I really enjoy helping people improve their health and

well-being. Nothing wrong with that. I like doing

that work, but what's more meaningful? So I went through the exercise and when I

asked myself the fifth 'Why' I furiously started writing and I wrote pages of notes.

I'll read it. The impact I want to have in the world is to help others return to

body, health and mindfulness as the essential priority of their life, which

will support creativity, creation, connection, and potentiate a global respect

for humanity and the planet. That's a pretty big 'Why' and honestly it's new,

it's fresh, and it kind of brings all the air up into my chest because I'm a

little nervous about it, a little nervous about still sharing that. I've just

gone and done it! Now I know my 'Why.' I can work on the 'what', which is the action

plan. So here's where you start asking yourself, if I was to create a 90-day

plan, a six month plan, a 12 month plan, what steps would I need to

take? What would I need to change? What would I need to improve? What habits

what I perhaps need to start? Now here's a note about what I just said. It is much

more challenging to start something new, or to stop something cold. So if you

can look at perhaps some routines or habits, or things that you're doing, and

make an improvement on those things, that's a lot easier to manage because

you've already got the routine of that down.Very simple example: so let's say

you're eating breakfast but maybe you're just eating a bowl of cereal. That could

certainly be improved from a nutrition perspective. How could we incorporate a

healthy protein, some healthy fats and some vegetables for that. And once we've figured

that out, or you figure that out for yourself, maybe you would give yourself

the task of eating two healthier breakfast a week and over the next couple

of weeks you finally have maybe six, maybe every single day you're eating a

healthy breakfast. And you start to feel better. Maybe you notice you're actually

starting to lose some weight, or maybe you have more energy. When you make a

small change on top of something that you're already doing it is much easier

to continue with that habit, because you aren't subjugating yourself - for lack of

a better word - to making such a big change that you would more easy resist

doing it. The other thing that you can consider doing is to make a big list.

It's a 'What' list. You've got your 'why', you know what you want to change. You

ask yourself, so what are the steps I could take to help make this 'Why' a reality?

List out as many things that you need and when you feel like you're done take

a look at that list and review it. You want to look at that list and now decide

what's most important. Start moving things around, and so you create a

second list from that first list. We call it 'what's most important'... #1, #2, #3.

When you're done organizing that, take a look at that what's most

important list. And the next and final list you're going to make, is what needs to be

done first. Because just because #1 is the most important, doesn't mean

it's the thing that you need to do first. And when you look at your list this may

become very obvious. I'll give you an example: the thing that's most important

could take the most work, and that project might actually require a few

other things to happen first. And those things that might need to happen first

could be further down your list of what's most important. So when you look

down that list you think, 'Well #5 and #8 actually need to

be done first so that I can work on my most important project or task.' Does that

make sense? So with that final list - what needs to be done first - the last thing

you'll do is, that thing that needs to be done first, come up with three

immediate single tasks that you can do to get to work. So once you've got that

list, you can then go on to the next step, 'the how.' We're going to talk about that in the

next video.
