Waching daily Jan 26 2018

I have been involved in file based audio, streaming as you might call it, over the last

15 years or so.

It all started when I saw my son play mp3's from his computer, and the phenomenon has

fascinated me ever since.

In this video I will tell you what I have learned about playing music from your hard

disk at better than MP3 quality.

I didn't like the mp3's my son used, so I gave him a proper stereo, including a Marantz

cd-player with improved clock oscillator.

He enjoyed the set but kept using the computer as source in stead of the cd-player.

So I gave him a stack of recordable cd's for I thought that money was the problem.

But it wasn't.

It was ease of use that drove him.

It made me think about the future of audio and started investigating the possibilities.

A noisy computer in the living room was no option and silent computers were scarce and

expensive then.

When Philips had a device out that could play photos, video and music from a computer over

the network, the Streamium SL400i, I ordered one.

It was then that I learned that playing audio from a video enabled device might not lead

to very good results.

To cut a long story short, I traveled through File Based Audio country, passing Squeezebox,

Sonos, iTunes - combined with Audirvana, Amarra and Pure Music - Simple Audio, Bluesound,

Pro-ject, Raspberry Pi, Sonore, SOtM and many others.

In this video I will attempt to give you an overview of the most popular ways of playing

audio files from a storage medium.

It's not an in-depth story and it doesn't pretend to cover all.

But for those relatively new to file based audio I hope it will give more insight in

the matter.

People that want more in-depth information might consider buying my book File Based Audio

aka Streaming Audio.

You will find the link below this video in YouTube.

Let's start with some general remarks.

There are some remarks to be made on the search-ability within streaming systems.

The number of metadata fields that can be searched is often limited to artists, albums,

genres and perhaps also the release date.

The support of extended metadata was - and sometimes still is - limited.

For instance, with classical music, the composer field, a standard field in all file formats,

might no be supported by the streamer or streaming server.

This led to very poor metadata-sets where in stead of the performing artist the composer

was entered.

So in stead of Arthur Rubinstein playing a Chopin nocturne the metadata sometimes only

named Frédérick Chopin as artist while in other files Chopin and Rubinstein were both

named as artist.

The correct way is to enter Chopin in the composer field and Rubinstein in the artist

field.

Often the composer field can be searched using the general search field.

This will usually be slower, but it's better than nothing.

But if you are a fan of classical music, be sure to check whether searching on composers

is facilitated.

On the other end of the scale not only the composer can be searched on, but for instance

also the composition, like Sheherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov.

Then there are systems that don't support gapless playback.

So if you play music that is continuous but is marked in track numbers for convenience,

there will be a short silence between the tracks.

For instance with live music the applause is muted shortly.

Even more irritating is when a continuous piece of music is concerned, for instance

Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt, played by Kees Wieringa and Polo de Haas, a minimal

music-like composition for two pianos of almost 75 minutes that - on cd - is divided into

106 tracks.

Played on equipment that doesn't support gapless playback gives you a short break in

the music about every few minutes.

The better streamers nowadays solve this in the hardware, but there still are those that

don't.

The first system I came across after the Philips Streamium was the Slim Devices SliMP3.

It sounded disastrous.

This was corrected in the successor: the Squeezebox.

Several products followed and in 2006 Slim Devices was bought by Logitech.

They introduced the Squeezebox Touch that supports 96 kHz.

Many tweaks came available over time: better power supplies and later on even unofficial

firmware tweaks for the Touch that would activate the USB socket as output to a USB DAC and

later on an update to 192 kHz over USB.

The system is managed from server software - Logitech Media Server, LMS for short.

It was initially operated from the Squeezebox display using an infrared remote.

The player sent the infrared instructions to the LMS that sends back album or track

information to the display.

You then select music to play and again this request is sent to the LMS that responds by

sending music files to the player.

The Squeezebox itself is a dumb terminal, passing on information and rendering music.

Later on iOS and Android apps became available as remote.

There also was a Duet that had no display on the player but a display on its remote

control.

Logitech stopped making Squeezeboxes in 2010 but promised to maintain the support for the

LMS.

Today other parties use the LMS for their product.

There are emulators for the Raspberry Pi and for instance Sonore and SOtM offer a Squeezebox

emulation in their streamers.

There are also many plug-ins for LMS to expand its possibilities, including for streaming

services like Tidal.

Be wise though and install only those plugins that you really need to prevent instability

of LMS.

Many players use the DLNA protocol.

It needs DLNA server software running on a computer or NAS.

DLNA was initiated in June 2003 by the large consumer electronics companies.

It was designed to facilitate streaming video, audio and photos from your computer but it

was obvious that the audio part had little or no priority.

The system worked fine when indexing a few hundred files but became notoriously slow

when thousands of files had to be indexed and searched.

Most people won't have more than a few dozen videos but for audio - and photos nowadays

- things are different.

If you own 100 cd's, that will be around 1300 tracks.

Clever hardware solutions and better server software have mostly solved this problem,

at least in the better products.

Furthermore DLNA does not support gapless playback.

The better manufacturers have also solved this in their playback devices while modern

DLNA servers do support most or all metadata fields.

But there are still products out there that don't.

Even within the same brand one model might while the other won't, so be sure to check.

There are also manufacturers that used DLNA as a base and built their own extensions on

it, like Denon Heos, Linn and Yamaha MusicCast.

DLNA is based on the universal plug and play standard and companies that didn't want

or weren't allowed to join the DLNA consortium, developed a comparable system and named it

UPnP AV.

In practice you will find no difference between UPnP AV and DNLA and you can mix both systems

without any problem.

There are many DLNA controller apps for smartphones and tablets as there is a lot of DLNA server

software, sometimes as pure DLNA server but there is also player software that doubles

as DLNA server.

Even hardware players like those by Sonos offer their music to other players through

the DLNA protocol.

Systems like Sonos and Bluesound and software like Volumio for the Raspberry Pi use their

own local indexing system, Just point it to the shared volume on your home network and

it will be indexed after which you can pick and play your music.

Bluesound and Volumio-like programs can even work without a shared volume: as soon as you

have you music on a hard disk, connect it to the player and you're done.

Some players even have the hard disk built in and also hold an optical drive to rip the

cd's to the hard disk.

Self indexing systems are rather responsive since they contain the index locally and when

more devices are added, the indexes will be automatically copied to those too.

There is a limitation too caused by the amount of memory in the player and the efficiency

of the database engine.

This limitation only gets in the way if you have a real big music collection.

The BluOS used in Bluesound also is used in NAD products.

They are not the only self indexing systems, upmarket products like Sooloos do their own

indexing and have no need for a computer.

Self indexing players are the easiest to install and maintain and are highly recommended for

the computer illiterate.

There is a broad offer: from the relatively low sound quality of the Sonos to the true

high-end Sooloos.

On the other side of the spectrum we have the computer literate that use the computer

for playback.

They were there even before the Squeezebox but it took some time before decent audio

quality was possible.

The simplest way is to use the analogue output of the computer but as often with simple solutions

it results in poor audio quality since the sound card inside the computer suffers from

poor clocking, polluted power supply and interference from other clock signals.

Using an outboard sound card - a digital to analogue converter, abbreviated to DAC - does

offer better sound for it suffers less form the aforementioned problems.

But they are not entirely gone.

Some use an audiophile power supply to further improve the sound quality while others use

interface boxes that clean up the power lines and re-clocks the USB or SPDIF signal.

Depending on the quality of that box the result can be somewhere between hardly better to

shockingly good but shockingly good easily will set you back a grand.

And than there is the operating system that - by default - will change the audio signal.

For quality sound you don't want that.

This can easily be solved but it depends on the OS what is needed.

Windows computers will need a special driver, a special mode to be enabled and bit perfect

software.

On a Mac and Linux computer just the bit perfect software will do.

Some software will allow you to use network audio adaptors - which I will discuss in the

following chapter - like JRiver Media Centre that can play music to DLNA renderers.

The network audio adapter - NAA or short is essentially

a digital output that is connected to the computer over the network.

When you use a tablet or smartphone to control a Raspberry Pi that emulates a Squeezebox,

the Raspberry Pi is essentially an NAI.

The same goes for a DLNA renderer or Roon Endpoint - on which later more.

The essence is that the noisy computer can remain elsewhere while the NAA will be placed

in the living room.

Since the NAA is a very simple computer, purposely built for audio, it will be more optimal and

thus provide the DAC with a cleaner signal than a regular computer.

Also here price and performance vary greatly and the most expensive will not automatically

be the better one.

But the better one will be more expensive for it takes a lot of design time and expensive

components to achieve this.

Many audio specific streaming systems are brand specific too.

Sonos only supports Sonos hardware, BluOS only supports Bluesound/NAD and so on.

This doesn't apply to DLNA ad also Roon is brand agnostic.

The latter is a development by the people that started Sooloos and left some years after

Meridian had taken over the company.

The difference between DLNA and Roon is immense, in speed, presentation, metadata and price.

The Roon server is run on a computer running Windows, Mac OS or Linux and has at least

an Intel i3 processor and a SSD system disk.

A special version is available for the Intel NUC if you are willing to dedicate that computer

fully to Roon.

I have several videos on Roon if you want more details.

See the link in the comments in YouTube.

You control Roon with a smartphone, tablet or computer and you can output to the computer

output, a DAC connected to the computer, DAC's that are Roon Ready, streamers that are Roon

Ready, NAA's running Roon Ready software and Raspberry Pi's running Roon Ready software.

You can also send music to other computers, smartphones and tablets running Roon software,

Squeezeboxes, Sonos equipment and Airport stations.

So, like with many other systems, you can store your music centrally and play it on

many places in the house.

Like DLNA you can use it for ultra high end audio in the listening room, top quality hifi

in the living, use a Bluesound player in the study, a Sonos speaker in the kitchen and

a Raspberry Pi with sound board, connected to that old ghetto blaster in the garage.

Your son and daughter can play from the same pool of music over their computer or smartphone

and each an everyone can have their own profile, playlists and so on.

It is hard to say what system suits you best.

I have reviewed a large number of solutions, see the playlists on Streaming audio players,

networked audio adaptors and networked audio players.

Ventrac SSV Prototype Drop Spreader for Narrow Sidewalks - Duration: 3:37.

Hey everybody, I just wanted to show you an

overview of the pending drop spreader for the SSV.

We're getting to a point now where we're starting to close out the design and testing of it,

so I wanted to give you a walk around of the progress that we've made.

Excuse the machine that it's on, this is an old prototype that's got a lot of hard and

abusive hours on it.

The drop spreader itself is basically what you're going to see in production.

We will have additional shielding to button it up and make it look a little more finished.

This one is powder coated black and the production one will be stainless.

It's essentially what you're going to see from a production unit.

The spreader itself slides in between the frame and it's housed underneath the engine

and between the axles.

The whole thing falls within a footprint of the machine to where there's nothing hanging

out over the edges.

The control for it is mounted up here on the dash.

It's an electric spreader, your electric motor is right here, chain driven down to the wheels

and drums that go through the center of the hopper.

You can turn your speed variability off and on to control the speed variability up here.

The spreader itself is very similar to our SA250 spreader.

The guts of it work almost identically.

You have the same compression roller and slide plate that crush material open.

It should work really well with even tough bulk material that can be wet or frozen from

time to time.

It accomplishes that without any vibration motors.

It's a simple, elegant design that keeps it nice and clean and should allow a really good

drop pattern on a machine this size.

This keeps the salt in between the walkways and not get off into the grass.

Now we've got power to the motor.

As this spins, you can see the plate moving inside of here to help crush that material

apart.

As you turn it up, you can really get some salt out.

There we have it, that'd be a heavy application, but as you can see a really good drop pattern

to keep it within the range you want to be on a narrow sidewalk.

We're pretty happy with the solution we've got hiding it between the wheels.

We've got some things still to finalize, and we will keep everyone posted as much as we

can on dates, times, and anything else.

That's the drop spreader.

I Love My Dog, But... Consideration - Duration: 6:01.

Hey! It's April Bolivar Your Friendly Dog Trainer

Follow my lead LLC Thanks for coming in and watching my YouTube video today! So,

if you saw last week's video we're talking about setting goals for us in

our dog to achieve dog training success in 2018 and really having the

relationship that we want to have with our dogs. Getting past those blocks and

barriers that are keeping us from having that enriched bond with our dog. So, if

you didn't catch last week's video, go back and watch it, Cuz it'll really help

out with you following along in this video. So, this is the first time that

you're watching one of my videos, thanks so much for coming in and let me

introduce myself. My name is April Bolivar I'm a certified

dog trainer and honors graduate and mentor trainer for Animal Behavior

College and it's my passion to help you enrich you bond with your dog. So, this

week we're going to talk about one of the huge things that sometimes stumps us

when we try to achieve something including our dog setting goals and

that's consideration. Sometimes we just get stuck in thought and all the

considerations overwhelm us and we just don't move forward on our goals. So, if

that's an issue that you have or might have, definitely want to watch this video

and hey don't forget to subscribe because when you subscribe you get

notified and that way you won't miss another one of these awesome videos that

are gonna help you reach your dog training goals this year.

So, how do we overcome those reasons or obstacles in our way to achieving our

dog training goals? It's a new year and time for a better relationship for you

and your dog but, something or things are holding you back. We all have so many

thoughts and reasons to block us from achieving any goals in life, so today

we're going to look at when consideration keeps us back from our dog

training goals. So maybe you're like so many of us, we know we need to work on

something with our dog:" I love my dog, but (fill in the blank)" but, thoughts start popping

up in your head like:" I know my dog blanks but I don't have time" or" I don't

believe in myself and my training efforts" or" I don't think my dog can

change" maybe "It's gonna take time away from my family and myself" or "I don't

have any time to spare" etc etc etc. You know what considerations

you have that are blocking you from a better relationship with you and your

dog. It's always important to consider things when we're thinking about or

trying something new. It keeps us from taking on more than we can chew and it

can even keep us from a dangerous situation, but sometimes it also keeps us

from moving forward or achieving goals we want to reach. So, how do we keep

considerations from blocking us from a more enriched bond with our dog?

Well, here are some tips. First, get those considerations out. They've been in your

mind or even your subconscious mind, so get them out in black and white. Either

write them out or type them out. Secondly it's time to face them. A lot of times

when we really see them in black and white and face them, they don't seem that

bad. And lastly, acknowledge them and either move past them or solve them. What

considerations are holding you and your dog back? Share them in the comment

section underneath this video. I'm here to help so, if you have trouble with this

please drop me a message under this video or email me at dogtrainerhk@ yahoo.com

I can't wait to help you reach your dog training goals.

I hope this video has helped you see some of the considerations that might be holding you

back from your dog training goals and helps you realize how you can work

through them or get past them. It's really important that we don't just stay

in the thought process and we get past those considerations and really work

with our dogs to achieve the relationship that we want with them. So,

if you like this video could you please give it a thumbs up? Because when you do

that, it tells me that you're enjoying the content I'm putting out and then I

Video Game Character You'd Like To Play Games With? | Community Question | Backlog Battle - Duration: 10:28.

Hello everybody and welcome to this week's Community Question! My name is Alex and today's

a huge gaming release day, with Dragon Ball FighterZ AND Monster Hunter World both coming

out! Who's picking up either game? No, no, no, that's not this week's Community Question

- but regardless of your answers, I hope this weekend will be a fun gaming weekend for each

and every one of you!

Before we ask the real Community Question this week, we need to read and reply to all

your answers from last week's question today! Some people have submitted video replies for

previous week's questions and while I have watched all of them, they were sadly not for

last week's question, which is why we won't be covering them this week. Sorry guys! Maybe

click the bell icon so you'll always be updated whenever a new video comes out? For

the people who missed it, last week's question was, "Name your favorite RPG villain!"

This was a really fun one, especially since some of you thought I was going to pick Sephiroth!

Alrighty! Let's read your answers!

CryMor Gaming writes:

Shodan, man

I've never played either System Shock games, but I do believe people when they say that

both games were better than Bioshock in every conceivable way. I've also heard stories

of Shodan and how she (computer AI can be gendered, right? I mean Cortana's a she)

can be conniving and manipulative. Great choice for a villain, CryMor!

TokenGeek writes:

Easily Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts 2. I don't remember much of Kingdom Hearts' plot (who

does?), but I remember Xemnas creeped the hell out of me as a kid, and that fight took

forever for me to beat. I spent maybe a full week trying to beat him!

I never finished Kingdom Hearts 2 because, of your own admission, Kingdom Hearts' plot

really fell off the deep end with 2. I can rant and rave about my dislike for KH, but

that's not why we're here. And Xemnas truly is a terrifying villain, especially

for what's being touted as a kid's game. I do have that KH collection on PS4. Maybe

someday I'll dare play through that Roxas section that took forever in the beginning

of KH2 one… more… time?

BioPhoenix writes:

Good choice on Kefka! He's also a pretty big favorite of mine, but my pick will be

Albert Simon from Shadow Hearts 1. Reason why is that he looks like a gentleman and

he's polite and intelligent, but yet he is actually very sadistic with how he wants

his goals. The interactions with him and the main party are also really interesting since

he does not act completely batshit insane. He stays calm while doing so.

"Sane" villains are interesting to me because they're the complete polar opposite

of Kefka. They embody a twisted value and morality system that makes them feel like

they simply could argue their point and your protagonists will say, "Oh. Ok. Carry on!"

They're generally convincing, and their demeanor often charismatic. They're quite

a dangerous lot! Albert Simon seems dangerous for all the reasons you and I have listed.

Now I want to play Koudelka...

TheJustinShow writes:

Probably the most standout one for me is Smithy from Mario RPG since it was my first completed

RPG.

One of the best SNES JRPGs that I missed out on as a kid, Super Mario RPG will be that

one game that stands out as a magical collaboration between Squaresoft and Nintendo that doesn't

seem to be something that'll happen any time soon. Thankfully, Nintendo's continued

their Mario RPGs with competent directors and studios and have given us some great games

like the Paper Mario series and Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam, which we'll talk about

later! Nice pick!

This next one is full of spoilers for Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I will read the

non-spoiler sections, but I'll try and reply without talking about the spoilers.

Bufudyne writes:

If Fire Emblem counts, then my favorite is Mad King Ashnard from Path of Radiance, for

the insane acts of cruelty he enacts upon his kingdom and those around him, alongside

introducing something that others would abuse that will offer some of the most bleak and

tragic moments in the entire franchise.

When reading Bufudyne's response, I couldn't shake the idea that all this was coming from

a turn based strategy RPG… which counts, by the way, since it's got the letters R

P and G in it. Keep in mind that I'm not saying that it's impossible for RPGs to

tell deep and rich stories, but rather how amazing it is that there's a ton of deep

and rich stories that we still have yet to play, even from games in the past! Yea, I

have my bias against turn based strategy RPGs as it's a genre I have an extremely difficult

time trying to get into, but I absolutely loved hearing this story about Mad King Ashnard

and I urge anyone who's played this game to keep this discussion about this villainous

monarch alive in the comments. Great choice!

Nauto-Ace-211-EX writes:

I have to go with the evil dynamic duo of Bowser and Paper Bowser in Mario & Luigi:

Paper Jam, where you have a JRPG where the world of Mario & Luigi collide with the world

of Paper Mario.

I love the Mario & Luigi series. As mentioned earlier, it's a great way to continue what

Super Mario RPG started while delivering fresh new takes on how a Mario RPG can be in this

day and age. Admittedly, the pairing of Bowser and Paper Bowser seems like a no brainer,

as Bowser has been fighting the Mario Bros. - mostly - by himself this whole time. A PAPER

version of himself seems just as dangerous. Awesome pick!

The following comment has some spoilers for Fallout: New Vegas. Same rules apply!

Wavec Gaming writes:

I guess Fallout is an RPG (yes it is!), so I'll have to go with Ulysses from Fallout

New Vegas. The three DLCs (excluding Honest Hearts) all seem like separate stories. But

after delving into the lore, you find that you're essentially just following Ulysses

all the way to the explosive conclusion. Amazingly well-written and exactly why we need another

Obsidian Fallout game.

The mention of Fallout: New Vegas in almost every single Community Question speaks volumes

about how incredible this game is to many players and I've gotta say that I've looked

at the PlayStation Store one too many times to see if it's available digitally. (Spoiler

alert: It ain't) That said, Ulysses' motivations and reasoning is what makes him a truly cunning

villain and if you haven't played Fallout: New Vegas, I urge you - on behalf of many

of its players who's mentioned the game here on Community Question - to check it out!

downphoenix writes:

I'm going to go with someone else - Vaas from Far Cry 3. A fantastically well written

villain that was extremely well acted, and I wanted more of him for sure.

If you've ever watched my Try Play for Far Cry 3, you'll know that I share downphoenix's

admiration of Vaas. Vaas was ruthless, intelligent, and often psychotic. The travesty is that

he still felt underutilized in the grand scheme of Far Cry 3's storyline. I often look back

at Vaas' first appearance as striking and memorable, and it's one of the best moments

I've encountered in any video game opening.

shortstacks0 writes:

You put FFVII as the game and the thumbnail has Sephiroth. How dare you swerve and steal

my favorite villain Kefka. You are going to become the next big villain.

Who's to say I'm not already? (Maniacal laugh)

This next one might be spoilerific for Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2. Same rules apply!

Terry 309 writes:

Lezard Valeth from Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2. He's such an interesting character that

you can't help but root for him despite how evil he is simply because of how ridiculously

eccentric and creepy his character is! Plus he has one of the greatest laughs of all time…

which is important for every villain methinks.

Kefka's laugh is iconic as Joker's laugh is iconic to him, so I think you're onto

something here! Valkyrie Profile's a fantastic game series from Enix, and if any of you haven't

checked it out, you should! From what you've said, he doesn't seem all too different

from Kefka in many ways, which always makes things a bit more interesting compared to

most RPGs.

And that's all the answers we managed to get in this video! Remember, if you want to

make sure that your answer appears on next week's Community Question, make sure you

subscribe to the channel and click that bell icon so you won't miss the release of the

latest episode and post a comment with your answer right away! Also, if you've got the

time, you should go check out the channels of everyone who's replied: you'll never

know if they make YouTube videos or not!

Because today's game releases involve multiplayer components - whether it's fighting competitively

in Dragon Ball Fighters Z or cooperatively taking down monsters in Monster Hunter World

- I thought of putting a little spin to today's Community Question. Ready to answer? This

one might be a tiny bit tricky, if only because the possibilities can be endless.

Name a video game character who you'd want to play multiplayer games with.

As with most Community Questions, this is open to interpretation, so have fun with it.

It could very well be that this video game character would be playing video games with

you as a second player, or they're partnering with you in Monster Hunter World as an actual

player character in the game to help you down baddies as their own selves, or even fighting

against your Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza combination in Dragon Ball Fighter Z as their own selves.

But you have to pick one. Sounds tough… But while you think about your answers, let

me give you mine.

If there's one character I'd like to play video games with, it'd have to be D.Va from

Overwatch. The game we'll most likely play would either be a MMO or some form of cooperative

game. But the Korean video game wunderkind turned hero will prove to be an incredible

ally regardless of any challenge I might face in games, whether it's actual video games

or inside video games, whatever the case!

And that's my pick for a video game character I'd like to play multiplayer games with!

What's yours? Post your reply on the comments below or send me a video response. Just remember

to message me and let me know where I can find it! Thanks for watching and I'm looking

forward to reading and watching your replies!

A prose poem, I Carry Your Imagination, by Ehsan Sehgal

I always carry In my thoughts

In my mind, in my heart Even in my veins

The memories of my childhood My youth, and puberty

When I touched When I felt; when I saw

My first affection And the heartbeats

Sounding your name Lightening your imagination

Wherever I was That purity

That reality and the truth After that such feelings

I could not feel, and find You are not anymore in my life

Even you do not exist On this world

But I carry your imagination With my entity to survive

With that beautiful And wonderful memories

Until the time comes When my soul departs

For your world, where you live.

A prose poem, The Future, by Ehsan Sehgal

I will never search your past Future will no bother me

Because its other name is today The present, you are mine

Your life, love, respect, honour Your health, wealth and worth

Make your destiny All your actions

Will be visible, and counted Today, the present

It is your future too.

A prose poem, My Destiny, by Ehsan Sehgal

Oh, my stranger friend Don't play, with my sadness

I know, you are happy But happiness is not my destiny

Let me live, with my sadness Now I am familiar with that

It is a part of my life It will never leave me.

How YOU can dine like The Queen! The majority of suppliers are located in the UK but France Port - Duration: 7:09.

The majority of suppliers are located in the UK but France, Portugal, US and Trinidad and Tobago are also used

The Queen's favourite shops include Fortnum and Mason, Selfridges, Partridges food shop and Waitrose

Her Majesty's favourite suppliers range from top end champagne Bollinger to cheap treats McVitie's biscuits

Where does the Queen buy her brooms? And, where does she get the pet food for her beloved Corgis? If you've ever wondered where Her Majesty does her shopping, now you can find out.

From pest control to clothing, products that hold a Royal Warrant from The Queen have been helpfully detailed in an interactive map, so now you really can shop like a monarch.

While obvious companies such as Waitrose and Fortnum and Mason are also accredited, the tool created by firm Esri UK reveals the more unusual companies which have the Queen's seal of approval.

The map shows nine categories of Royal Warrant holder including building & maintenance, food & drink, homes & household goods, agriculture & animal welfare, clothing & accessories, antiques, art & conservation, horticulture & gardening services, transport & storage and other.

To access the key and view the map, click on the arrow in the top left

Your shopping list: Groceries fit for a Royal

Gail's Brown Bloomer: £3

Gordon's gin £14.50

Mumm Champagne £26

Denhay bacon: £3.09

Musk's Sausages: £3

Catheral city mature cheddar £2.50

Countrylife butter: £3.25

Gallo risotto rice £2.59

Walkers shortbread: £1.55

Dorset Cereals muesli: £2.50

Ryvita: 99p

Heinz baked beans: £2

Some of the 749 companies which have claimed the prestigious warrant include Shield Pest Control, in London, A

Nash handmade brooms, in Tadley, Hampshire, and Guildford-based A

Hester - which lists emptying septic tanks among its services.

Others include scaffolding from Allen & Foxworthy, in Swindon, cyber security from Khipu Networks in Fleet, Hampshire and pet food from Armitage Pet Products, based in Nottingham.

While chimney sweeps may be considered a thing of the past, the Royal Family has several fireplaces in their palaces, and therefore use the services of Milborrow Chimney Sweeps of Crawley Down, West Sussex

In terms of food shops, Selfridges department store in Oxford Street, London, Partridges food shop in the Kings Road, Chelsea, London, and Waitrose are the selected destinations.

However, if you can't afford to visit these locations, there several brands you can add to your shopping list to make your groceries more regal.

The Queen's preferred gin brand is Gordon's and champagne suppliers include Louis Roederer, Pol Roger, Bollinger and Mumm, all based in France, while Hildon bottled water, Britvic and Coca-Cola are the preferred option for soft drinks.

Her preferred brand of salt is Maldon and for jam, her choice is Wilkin & Sons

United Biscuits, which owns McVitie's, Jacob's and GoAhead!, are her chosen supplier for savoury and sweet snacks.

When it comes to her overseas groceries, the carbon footprint conscious Royal has just four other countries outside of the UK which supply Buckingham Palace with special items.

Behind the map: The selected holders

They include Harvey S.A

sherry, from France, Symington Family Estates Port, from Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago for the Angorusta Bitters and the Louisiana, USA, for Tabasco

The ultimate seal of approval, Royal Warrants are granted by the Queen (634 granted), the Duke of Edinburgh (34 granted) and the Prince of Wales (165 granted), to companies who supply the Royal Household

To gain one, a company must have been supplying the Royal Household for a minimum of five years.

The Royal Warrant Holders Association was formed in 1840 but the history of the Royal Warrant can be traced back to medieval times, when competition for Royal favour was intense and the Monarch had the pick of the country's best tradespeople

By the 15th century, the Lord Chamberlain, as head of the Royal Household, formally appointed tradespeople with a Royal Warrant of Appointment - a practice that continues to this day.

Professional services and government agencies aren't able to apply, and goods and services provided to the Crown Estate, Historic Royal Palaces, the Duchies of Cornwall or Lancaster and Royal Parks do not qualify.

'We created the map to see what geographical trends there might be with Royal Warrant holders as we don't believe they have been mapped before

It's an interesting way of visualising a large amount of data and instantly seeing any patterns,' said Ben Flanagan, cartographer at Esri UK

'Mapping them makes it easy to see that the vast majority are UK companies

Greater London has the most suppliers with 204, followed by Norfolk with 50 and Berkshire with 35

The spread of suppliers is nationwide but with Buckingham Palace being in London, Sandringham in Norfolk and Windsor Castle in Berkshire, many are close to the main R

10 Paint Color Ideas for a Small Bathroom - Duration: 4:08.

Hello…

Welcome Back to Sheryl TV.

Today our video about: Paint Color Ideas for a Small Bathroom.

Before We begin..

Don't forget to Subscribe and hit the Notification button.

So you won't miss the next great videos from us!

Bathrooms are the smallest rooms in our homes, and sometimes they can be smaller than most

closets.

Your bathroom color is influenced by not only the size of your room but whether or not you

have windows in there.

If your lighting is sufficient, you can get away with darker colors.

Your first step in decorating your bathroom is to make sure that your lighting is perfect

before you choose your paint colors to sample.

The right lighting for your bathroom can give you many more color options, and help you

eliminate the wrong ones quickly.

Here are six awesome paint colors for a small bathroom.

Each one was chosen with a tiny space in mind.

1.

Vintage Velvet

A small bathroom and a bold color?

Yes!

This can work.

A gorgeous deep color like Behr's Vintage Velvet works well in a powder room, where

glamor is often more important than size.

Powder rooms are the one room where a bit of drama is expected, so go for it!

You can also choose a deep color for your small bathroom if you have the right lighting

available.

The right lighting could be lots of natural light or strategically placed sconces by the

mirror and fabulous overhead lights.

Don't let the size of your bathroom keep you from sampling some adventurous colors.

That's what sampling paint colors is for.

2.

Vibrant Teal A bright shade of teal makes quite the statement

in this modern bathroom design.

Choosing a vivid color for the walls and ceiling really makes the subway tile backsplash, artwork

and fixtures pop.

3.

Dramatic Black Black combined with silver accents brings

a sophisticated look to any bathroom.

Consider a shimmery silver mosaic tile as the backsplash to make the space really shine.

4.

Copper Metallics are definitely in right now, so

why not incorporate them into your small bathroom design?

Add instant elegance to the space with glimmering copper.

Use mosaic tiles in shades of brown and neutral for the backsplash and a beautiful, floating

marble countertop to complement the look and bring in additional interest and texture.

5.

Magenta Show your girly side with a pop of pink.

A graphic accent wall in earth tones not only adds fun pattern into the design, but helps

counteract the brightly painted walls.

6.

Powder Blue Not into the bold, vibrant colors?

Try a more subdued hue like this baby blue bathroom.

A sunny shade of yellow pairs perfectly with the space to liven it up.

7.

Pretty Plum Dark purple walls add femininity, while the

woodgrain cabinets and vanity bring in a hint of rustic style to this contemporary design.

Don't be afraid to mix different styles.

8.

Neon Yellow Brilliant yellow stripes bring a fun, youthful

vibe to a small bathroom.

Keep the fixtures and accessories minimal to not overwhelm the space.

9.

Cherry Red Energize the powder room with a vivacious

shade of red.

This is a great color choice for the kids.

Create a colorful gallery wall to decorate the empty space above the toilet and showcase

your children's artwork.

10.

Rust Orange Consider painting your bathroom's wainscoting

instead of the walls.

In this case, it eliminates the need for a backsplash.

What Digital Workspace Is and Why You Need It - Duration: 3:22.

[MUSIC]

>>CHRIS COUGHLIN: The best way to describe digital workspace is think about in the '90s

where you're sitting at a desk, you were tied to a terminal, you couldn't be mobile maybe

if you're a salesperson you couldn't necessarily be out there talking to people.

Digital workspace is enablement: it's the ability to be productive, to access corporate

data, to have secure corporate data, to be able to access contacts, make conference calls

and interact with your customers on the fly so it makes you more productive and it makes

you more reliable in the field.

[music]

>>DAVID GARCIA: When you sign on once it gives you identity management so the IT group

knows who you are, what apps you're using, what apps are in your catalogue, apps that

they can push or take back from you, and it makes it really a very seamless way to work.

In today's environment we're signing on to every registration application individually,

sometimes you forget your password some people keep a repository for their passwords, some

don't, some have them kept somewhere insecurely, which is really not good for IT and Workspace

allows you to sign on once and get access to everything you need.

>>CHRIS COUGHLIN: So it meets the needs of organizations from a flexibility standpoint

and because of that mobility that in five years 72 percent of software interaction are

going to be on mobile devices.

For example, I was on two WebExs yesterday just on my mobile device.

The great thing about the software and the capabilities of that software is that I can

login and then I can be actually called at the same time, so it's not me fumbling around

trying to figure out, "Okay, what's the phone number and what's the capabilities?"

I can actually see the data when I need to be flexible with my schedule and it allows

me to still be productive at the same time.

[MUSIC]

>>DAVID GARCIA: The consolidation to a workspace makes sense because it gives people choice:

it allows them to work on whatever device they want anywhere they want.

>>CHRIS COUGHLIN: Especially with modern-day worker and the younger workers that are now

entering the workforce they want that flexibility, they want the tools to, when they join an

organization, "How's this organization going to enable me and let me be productive if I

can't always be in the office?"

And so what we're seeing is they've got those tools on demand, they can even use their personal

tools but login securely throw products like VMware's Workspace One where they can login

from anywhere and get access to just their specific datasets versus say something else

that another type of user is using.

But they get that flexibility and the organization gets that productivity up.

What excites me the most is the ability to provide tools and resources that make it easy

because IT has such a big burden on it and a lot of times IT individuals are the first

people we're talking to and so they're like, "Hey, I need a solution.

I need it yesterday."

And so we can show them products and services that integrate well together, that have a

single console that they can manage everything and they can get up to speed on them and be

trained on them very quickly.

[MUSIC]

>>DAVID GARCIA: The assessment process for determining whether a customer's right for

a digital workspace is really asking a lot of questions.

Understanding the customer's current environment, who their workforce is, where they like to

work, what kind of devices they're using, are they a BYOD shop, are they a mixed environment,

how are they pushing out applications today, how are they managing them, do they have access

to apps beyond what is being delivered in a seamless and easy fashion?

Sadhguru - what's the purpose of life? if you've fulfilled it, after that what would you do? - Duration: 23:41.

Questioner: What's for me the purpose of life,

if you can give an insight on that?

Thank you.

Sadhguru: Isn't it fantastic that if there is no purpose,

you have nothing to fulfill,

you can just live?

Hmm?

No,

but you want a purpose

and not a simple purpose, you want a God-given purpose.

(Laughter)

It's very dangerous.

People who think they have a God-given purpose

are doing the cruelest things on the planet.

Yes or no?

They are doing the most horrible things

and they've always been doing the most horrible things

because when you have a God-given purpose,

life here becomes less important than your purpose.

No,

life is important.

Life is important -

when I say life,

I am not talking about your family, your work, what you do, what you do not do, you party

I am not talking about that as life.

This is life, isn't it?

Life is within you or around you?

the ambiance of life

you're mistaking the ambiance of life for life.

Your home, your family, your workspace, your party

this is all ambiance of life.

This is not life, isn't it?

Yes or no?

Participants: Yes.

Sadhguru: You're mistaking the ambiance for the real thing.

No.

Life is important

because it's the only thing you know,

you don't know anything else.

Do you know something else?

Rest is all imagined stuff, isn't it?

The only thing is that this is beating and alive and that's all there is.

So, is this important?

It is of paramount importance.

Not you as a person, that's not important,

but you as a piece of life

it's very important

because that is the basis of everything.

When I say that is the basis of everything,

the universe exists for you only because you are, isn't it?

Yes or no?

The world exists for you only because you are,

otherwise it won't exist in your experience.

So, in every way this is important.

So, what is the purpose for this?

See, if you had a purpose and if you've fulfilled it,

after that what would you do?

After that, what would you do?

Bored, isn't it?

It is just that life is so intricate and so phenomenally intricate

that if you spend a 10,000 years looking at it carefully,

you still will not know it entirely.

If you spend a million years looking at it with absolute focus,

still you will not know it in its entirety.

That's how it is.

There is...…Is there a meaning to it?

The greatest thing about life is that there is no meaning to it.

This is the greatest aspect of life that it has no meaning to it

and there is no need for it to have a meaning.

It is the pettiness of one's mind that it'll seek a meaning

because psychologically you will feel kind of unconnected with life

if you don't have a purpose and a meaning.

People are constantly trying to create these false purposes.

Now, they were quite fine and happy.

Suddenly, they got married.

Now the purpose is the other person.

Then they have children.

Now they become miserable with each other.

Now the whole purpose that I go through all this misery is because the children.

Like this, it goes on.

These are things that you're causing

and holding these as purposes of life

and is there a God-given purpose?

What if God does not know you exist?

No, I am just asking, by chance.

(Laughter)

I am saying in this huge cosmos,

for which God is supposed to be the Creator

and the manager of these hundred billion galaxies,

in that this tiny little planet

and you

Suppose he doesn't know that you exist, what to do?

Possible or no?

I am sorry, I am saying such sacrilegious things

but is it possible or no?

What if he doesn't know that you exist?

What if he doesn't have a plan for you?

(Laughter)

Suppose, he doesn't have a plan for

an individual plan for you,

don't look for such things.

The thing is the creation is made in such a way that

Creation and Creator cannot be separated.

Here you are a piece of creation.

At the same time, the source of creation is throbbing within you.

If you pay little attention to this process of life,

you would not need any purpose.

It'll keep you engaged for a million years if you want.

There is so much happening

so much means so much unbelievable things are happening right here.

If you pay enough attention,

a million years of existence, it'll keep you busy or more.

Right now, the need for purpose has come

because you're trapped in your psychological structure,

not in your life process.

Psychologically your

your psychological structure functions from the limited data that it has gathered.

Within that it rolls and right now,

your thought and emotion has become far more important than your life.

Isn't it so?

Isn't it so?

So, because of this you're seeking a purpose as an escape from the trap

that you have set for yourself.

It is a trap set by you.

You can easily come out of it.

If the trap was set for you by somebody else,

difficult to come out

because they'll set the trap in such a way that you cannot come out, isn't it?

I am…

I am talking about life not marriage,

that's what I mean.

(Laughter)

That's what.

(Laughs)

So this is a trap set by you.

This is easy to come out,

but that is the whole thing.

Why it is so difficult is

now you're identified with the trap,

you like it.

You like it because it gives you a certain sense of

safety and security and protection and individual identity.

If you build a cocoon around yourself,

it gives you safety,

but it also imprisons you.

Walls of self-preservation are also walls of self-imprisonment.

When it protects you, you like it.

When it restricts you, you do not like it.

That is why we have doors.

We like the walls because it's protecting us,

but we have doors so that we can open it and get out when we want to.

It doesn't matter how nice it is, we still want to go out, isn't it?

So that is how it is with every trap that you set.

It doesn't matter how nice it is, you still want to go out.

So, the psychological wall that you've built,

which gives you some sense of identity,

which gives you some sense of being a person

an individual person and which gives you security

beginning to experience it like a trap;

somewhere you want to break it.

So, one way of not breaking it is to find a purpose.

Those who find a purpose in their life,

they become so conceited.

They will live within their own trap forever

thinking that they're doing the most fantastic thing.

First thing you need is balance.

If you have balance, then you can climb.

If you don't have balance, it's better you stay on the ground, isn't it?

It's not safe for somebody who is not balanced to climb high.

It's best you stay close to the ground.

You should not climb.

So, first thing is to establish a balance,

then you loosen your psychological structure,

then it's a wonderful thing.

If you are loosening your psychological structure without balance,

which lot of people are doing today

see, why does somebody want to drink alcohol or take a drug

because it loosens your psychological structure and makes you feel liberated for a moment

but without the necessary balance

you have not worked for the balance, but you got freedom.

Freedom without balance is destruction, anarchy, isn't it?

So, first thing is to work for balance,

an enormous sense of balance

where even if you dismantle your psychological structure,

you can simply live here.

Dismantling your psychological structure is an important process

because that is your trap,

that is your security,

that is your stability

at the same time, that's your trap

because the walls are set, you feel secured, but that's also your trap.

If you dismantle your trap,

you also dismantle your security, isn't it?

You also dismantle your sense of purpose.

You also dismantle everything that matters to you.

So, that will need balance.

Without balance, if you dismantle you'll go crazy.

But, don't look for a purpose

because if you look for a purpose, you are seeking madness.

If you find one, you are sure mad.

Yes.

(Laughter)

If you think you've found a purpose in life,

you still… you're for sure gone crazy

because only the insane people have purpose

or people who have a purpose are insane in many ways.

These are things that you create in your mind

and believe it's true, isn't it?

Right now - 'fighting for my country is my purpose'

right now if it's necessary, I'll fight knowing fully well it's an unnecessary bloody

fight.

Yes.

Then you'll fight only to the extent it's necessary.

If you think this is your purpose,

you would want to destroy the whole world for what nonsense you believe in, isn't it?

If something is needed, we will do it

with… with absolute involvement.

There's no other purpose.

The purpose of life is to live and to live totally.

To live totally does not mean party every night.

(Laughter)

To live totally means

before you fall dead, every aspect of life has been explored

nothing has been left unexplored.

Yes?

Before you fall dead, even if you do not explore the cosmos,

at least this piece of life (Referring to oneself) you must know it in its entirety.

That much you must do to yourself, isn't it?

That's living totally that you experience the whole of this,

all dimensions of what this is.

(Gestures)

You did not live anything untouched.

You just do that.

That will take a long time.

That's good enough purpose for you.

(Laughs)

Sadhguru: What is the goal of human life?

What is the purpose of human life?

Or in other words, why life?

That's the question.

When it comes to life and existence, you never ask why.

When it comes to fundamental existence you never ask why

because if you ask why then I have to tell you a story.

When I say a story, even if it's a real story, you know, a real story,

whatever I speak if it is not in your experience it is just a story.

The only option that you have is either you believe me or you disbelieve me.

Yes?

If you believe me it doesn't get you any closer to truth

If you disbelieve me, it doesn't So, you never ask why.

Right now, you are here with life.

Why such a question has come, 'what is the goal of life?

Because the process is not enough, isn't it?

Yes?

The process of life is not enough somehow.

Suppose you were bursting with ecstasy every moment of your life, such a question would

never come,

what is the goal of life?

Because to live is the goal of life, to live and to live totally.

To live totally does not mean party every night.

To live totally means,

when you are here you must experience all aspects of life and go.

Whatever this is, every aspect of what this is must come into your experience before you

fall dead.

Isn't it so?

Yes?

This must happen, isn't it so, for every human being?

Or do you want to just experience 10% of you and go away?

You must experience what this life is, totally, isn't it?

Before you go you must experience this.

If you do experience that then such questions will never arise in your mind

because that's not the way existence is.

Logically your question is very correct, 'Ok, I'm living here, what is the goal of my

life?

If I tell you, the goal of your life is, 'you must attain to God.

So, we are making lots of assumptions, isn't it?

(We are assumption) We are making assumptions about various things which are not yet in

our experience, isn't it?

The moment you make assumptions about things which are not in your experience,

you will become hallucinatory.

99% of the world's religion is hallucinatory, please see.

Because you are assuming things that are not in your experience and working with that which

you have assumed.

The moment you give power to things that you have assumed, your mind will just fly off

into all types of imagination

and it will be more real than real.

See, your imagination can be more real than real.

Isn't it so?

You go and sit in a cinema, it is just two dimensional,

just play of light and sound, but its impact is much more than the life itself.

Isn't it so?

Yes?

You went and sat in an IMAX theater?

Its impact is bigger than life, isn't it?

But is it bigger than life,

do you think so?

Is it really bigger than life?

Not at all.

It is just that imagination has such power.

Imagination, thought, emotion - all these things are a way to pave the way.

Now, I have a thought: 'I want to go to New York.

This paves the way.

Once I say, 'I want to go to New York, now, ok, how to go?

Shall I buy the ticket,

shall I walk it, what shall I do, shall I drive?

It's paving the way.

But if I sit here and go on thinking New York, I''ll never make it.

Thought is not a reality that takes you there.

It only paves the way,

it makes you willing, that's all.

Yes?

Thought and emotion only makes you willing.

It's never the real thing.

But once you start giving too much significance to your thought and emotion,

it starts seeming like as if it's the real thing, more real than the real.

What you're thinking in your head is more real then what's around you.

Isn't it so?

Yes?

That's the whole problem with life right now, that your thought and emotion has become

a bigger reality then reality itself.

Now, this is like, you know, if you go probably in the countryside,

there will be - what do you call them?

We call them hand post.

What do you call them here?

You know?

A hand post?

What do you call it, something - a marker?

[Participant] A sign post.

[Sadhguru] A sign post.

Ok.

So, these are called hand post usually

because they used to be made like hands at one time, you know,

like this it used to be.

[Gesture] Have you seen them?

Like this,

it says, 'this way to New York.'

So, you go and sit on this and you think you are in New York.

That's not New York, isn't it?

So, thought is only a sign post.

It points you in the direction you want to go but it never takes you there.

It cannot take you there.

But people who think it is taking them there

have become hallucinatory in such a way that even reality cannot get them out.

Even if you (pick) poke them with a knife, they will not know.

They are somewhere else.

Their thought and emotion is far more important than that.

This is a scourge which has taken humanity in such a big way,

such a big way and of all the type of thoughts and emotions that we generate,

the religious thought and religious emotion or spiritual thought and spiritual emotion

are most dangerous

because they are powerful, empowered by the other worldly.

Because of that kind of power, it just rules people.

It just rules people so deeply and we can always see that some other religion that you

don't belong to, what stupidity,

what nonsense they are doing but what you are doing is just never visible, isn't it?

Yes?

Isn't it so?

Isn't it happening every day?

Because once the thought and emotion becomes powerful you start believing it.

Once you start believing something which is not yet in your experience,

you are a dangerous human being.

Because all the conflict on the planet, even today what's happening,

though people try to project it as, 'it is good versus evil,'

though people are trying to project it as good versus evil,

it is not about good and evil.

It is always about one man's belief versus another man's belief.

Isn't it so?

Hum?

Always, between one man's belief and another man's belief.

Why can't we be sincere enough to simply see,

whatever we do not know as we do not know?

What is the problem?

This is the biggest human problem.

They can't see that they don't know.

They have to bullshit themselves all the time.

And this is not a joke.

This is a terrible tragedy on the planet, isn't it?

This is not a joke.

This is not a simple thing.

It has cost phenomenally for human life on this planet,

phenomenally and still continuing to cost.

But, what we think and feel is so important, isn't it?

So, what is the goal?

What if there is no goal?

What will you do?

Will you die, tomorrow?

Suppose there is no goal, what to do?

You want to die?

Isn't it wonderful, there's nowhere to go?

(Laughs) Yes?

Isn't it really great, there's (no way) nowhere to go?

You don't have to work your way to heaven,

you can just live here happily!

No, no, no, we are going to heaven.

If you are so sure you are going to heaven what are you waiting for?

[laughter]

If you are so dead sure, you are anyway going to heaven,

what are you waiting for?

I can't understand the logic.

[Questioner] Waiting for the ticket.

[laughter]

[Sadhguru] Waiting for the ticket! [laughter]

All you have to do is, go and cut your throat in front of the temple, you understand?

Whichever is your favorite temple, it will happen.

People 100% believe, 'after I die I will go to the lap of God.'

If you are going to the lap of God you should not delay it.

Really.

Isn't it so?

Such a sacred duty can you delay it?

You must go, today, not even tomorrow.

No, you want to live long.

So, why are you postponing such a wonderful opportunity?

That's because you are full of bull.

[laughter]

You tell yourself things which are not yet a reality for you.

I'm not questioning whether these things exist, not exist.

But it's not yet a reality for you.

If you talk about things which are not yet a reality for you - to put it very bluntly,

it just amounts to lying.

This lying has cost phenomenally,

for individual human beings and for the whole humanity in a big way.
