- Hey guys Shawn with Custom Offsets.
Custom Offsets TV on the You Tube.
Got another hot new episode for ya.
Episode 120 and we have the Sota Scar.
This is one of the ones we have not gone through
yet and actually when I saw it sitting out
in the shop earlier last week I was like mm
that definitely looks good.
The Sota Wheels go through a lot more milling
and machining and that's where they really just pop out.
One of the things I want you to see as
I go through this Scar Wheel is the massive
amount of milling.
And you'll see that even on all of the bump outs
they'll mill the backsides of every single bump out
so it just pops.
And then they'll run a mill all the way around that window
to also give that more detail and depth.
And then they'll go inside the windows and they'll
mill all of that out.
Same thing inside every one of the spokes
and even onto the hub a little bit.
They'll sit and mill all of this out so the
about of milling, the time that it takes to
do all of that is why you'll see that the price
on the Sotas is gonna be a little bit more
because of all the intricate milling and also the
intricate designs you'll see with these
bump outs and how aggressive the spoke set up is.
And there'll be the exposed lug nuts.
You're gonna see that they've worked all that in there.
They've even got the milled out dimples
on the inside of the wheel.
Then they do another set of milled rivets
on the outside here and then another set out on the lip.
So it's all the attention to detail when you're looking
at a Sota wheel.
That's some of the stuff you wanna notice.
I know when I asked em,
when we first started carrying Sota,
what was up with the price point
and those that don't know this
it's the brand formally known as BMF.
So I asked Sota, ya know, what was the deal with
the price point and that's what the discussion was.
Is the extensive amount of milling means an extensive
amount of time which is what drives some of the cost.
You'll notice that the Sota wheels sit more towards
the high end of the one piece cast wheels.
Definitely of the one piece cast they're probably
getting closer to the two piece wheel pricing
and that's what drives a lot of that.
So like I said, this is a Sota Scar.
This particular one is gonna be a 20 by nine wide
and it's a zero offset.
They also make this in a 20 by nine plus 12 offset
and then they've got it in a 20 by ten negative 19.
And that's pretty much it.
They're pretty specific on the sizing they have.
One of the things they also noted.
This is a one, two, three, four, five, six lug.
So it's a one, two, three, four, five, six spoke.
So if it's an eight lug it's gonna be eight spoke
and a five lug is a five spoke.
The reason they do that is so that they can
have the exposed lug nut and put it between
the spokes on each of the designs
giving it a symmetric look.
And the reason they have the exposed is
because they look absolutely killer with spiked lug nuts.
The black is more of a stealth look when you
put that in there.
And then the chrome makes it pop with all of that
milling and machining.
So it goes really well with it.
And you'll see that it's a lot, the cap is very low profile.
Very small.
It's more of that forged wheel cap look
and you'll see your spiked lug nuts come out
significantly past the cap.
As far as the finishes go
this is their death metal milled black.
So you'll see it's a gloss black and it's got
that ton of milling like I said.
Same thing gloss all the way around.
And then the other finish that they do is called
I already forgot.
It's something aggressive black.
Let me just look I don't wanna lie to you.
Stealth black.
And the stealth black is basically a matte or a satin black.
It's a real flat sheen to it.
And then they've got the milling all the way around
and the Sota is carved into the lip in milling.
And then other than that everything is just black, black.
Blacked out completely.
Lip size, this is 20 by nine zero and it's got
about a three and a half inch lip.
So that's an aggressive lip for a 20 by nine.
I would imagine that that ten wide's gonna have
at least a four and half inch lip
and the 20 by ten negative 19.
That one'll be nice and aggressive.
And like I said, the big thing to look at here
is the massive amount of detail and milling
throughout the entire wheel.
That's what Sota is all about and that detail
around these blocks and bump outs
is kinda their claim to fame.
The thing they've really focused their time and energy on.
I think that's it.
That is the Sota Scar and get you some.
Peace.
