Yoga by Sarah - Yoga Teacher Training Program - Duration: 4:37.

Have you ever thought about becoming a yoga instructor or deepening your practice?

Yoga by Sarah is excited to introduce you to our Teacher Training

Program and our faculty.

Hi everyone, my name is April Janzen and I am the owner

and Creative Director at Yoga by Sarah. Before I took over here at Yoga by Sarah

in 2017, I worked for about 15 years as a social worker, working in group homes,

front line crisis work, as well as counseling. I also have an undergraduate

degree in Theatre and Visual Arts, so I've always been really drawn and

interested in alternative forms of traditional therapy. Over the years I've

just noticed how traditional talk therapy doesn't seem to really work for

a lot of people who are struggling with mental health issues and that's what led

me actually to take my yoga teacher training program. I was really curious

about how movements and breath could impact mental health. So this program

that we have developed here at Yoga by Sarah is actually marrying two of my

favorite things: my social work passion and yoga.

Hello, I'm Taryn Diamond and I'm

originally from Niagara but I currently live and work in Toronto. I've done a lot

of yoga training. I've had 200 hours of a teacher training program at Octopus

Garden. I followed that with 300 hours of effective teaching. For the last 4 years

I've been studying yoga philosophy extensively with Hali Schwartz. All of

this has allowed me to become a lead faculty member at Union Yoga and

wellness and a program assistant at the current Octopus Garden

Yoga Teacher Training program. I'm excited to bring all of these skills

that I've collected and my passion to the teacher training program here at

Yoga by Sarah. Most specifically I'll be looking at

yoga philosophy and how so much of our teachings that were coming from

thousands of years ago have mirrored or have been proven

through modern scientific research and knowledge. It's actually quite

fascinating what happens to the brain when we move and breathe and how all of

that intermingles with traditional therapies like cognitive behavioral

therapy for example. My name is Diana Harpwood and I was born to move. Ever

since I could walk I was always dancing all around the house. My parents put me

in dance when I was a small child and I continued with that right through to

university. I completed four years at York University studying contemporary

dance and achieved my Bachelor of Fine Arts. While I was there I was encouraged

to take different movement therapies and yoga. Through yoga I was able to connect

my breath with my movement and this was a light bulb moment for me. This is when

my dancing really changed, I began to understand that there is this full-body

connectivity. I felt more grounded, more rooted, more authentic in my dancing. My

love for yoga brought me back to Niagara and to Yoga by Sarah. I was the first

teacher training program in 2010 and I have been teaching at Yoga by Sarah ever

since. I've been a dance teacher for over 10 years now and my dance background

really inspires my yoga teaching. I have an immense appreciation for the body's

capacity to move, to be resilient and to heal itself. I'm so excited to be a part

of Yoga by Sarah's new teacher training program. Hi, I'm Allison Noble. I have been

working as a registered massage therapist for 17 years and teaching yoga

for 16 and part of the Yoga by Sarah teacher training program for the past

nine years. My contribution to the teacher training program is in

teaching anatomy. Through my work as a massage therapist and as a yoga teacher

it's become very apparent to me the mind-body connection and how important

it is to utilize that information in a class to make sure the students can get

the most out of the class that they've come for. I try to make the learning as

interesting and fun as possible while still really focusing on alignment and

safety in the classroom. Our program at Yoga by Sarah is going to equip you to

become a strong and confident yoga teacher who can sequence creatively, cue

effectively and offer helpful hands-on adjustments. It's more than a personal

development program as well. Our program is actually a professional development

program for anyone who is working in the human services. So if you are an Early

Childhood Educator, a recreational therapist, a teacher, a social worker, a

support worker or respite worker working with children who have disabilities,

perhaps you're an educational assistant at the school board -- this is a great

program to give you some creative tools to help support the people that you're

working with. We're really excited, we've got a great team and we're so excited to

invite you into our community.

How to use complying development - Duration: 1:28.

Did you know

there's a fast track approval pathway for straight forward one and two storey

homes, granny flats, home renovations, extensions and

minor developments such as swimming pools carports and decks?

The first step is to seek help from a building designer who can

prepare your plans and provide advice on whether your proposal meets the right standards.

When your plans meet these requirements, you can lodge

your complying development application with your local council or a private certifier.

Remember, its important to talk to your neighbours upfront about your plans.

Once your application has been lodged an accredited council or private certifier will assess your proposal.

If your development meets building standards such as height setbacks and landscaping

your complying development certificate will be approved in as little as twenty days.

This can save you up to $15,000 depending on your project.

Construction can start once you let your neighbours and council know

the development has been approved.

Remember, your building or renovation must follow what's been approved under the complying development certificate.
