Hey, everybody! Sean with The Good Dog with a 60-second training tip, and this one is

called: The Lord of the Flies Principle. So, Lord of the Flies principle. I've written

about it in the blog and book - I'll put a link in - bunch of kids, plane crashes, they

end up on a deserted island. No adults. No structure. No rules. No authority figures.

And things develop into chaos, theft, bullying and even murder. Now, why does it

happen? Well, as I explained, a bunch of very, very crucial elements to holding us

society together have disappeared. And so then you get opportunity, and you get

fear. And you get stress, and you get anxiety. And you get the worst out of

these kids. You also get the worst out of your dogs if you don't have these

essential components in place to help your dogs understand the structure, the

social structure of their world. You're going to get your dogs worse. And funny

enough, when the adults arrived the kids all reverted back.

Why Lip Buzz? - Free Buzz - Trumpet Tutorial - Duration: 6:07.

Hello trumpet players

So today, we're gonna follow up on one of my earlier videos

I think, if I can remember right, I think I promised that we would talk more in a future video about

why we do lip buzz.

Okay, there is a huge controversy over

whether you should or should not do lip buzz, and,

to tell you the truth, I'm not on either side of that controversy because I actually agree with both sides.

But yet, I do lip buzz - so that would seem to put me on the lip buzz side.

But here's the thing... is... I don't use lip buzz for strength.

So that puts me in a third category.

I use lip buzz as part of a sequence to get us naturally on to the horn.

Okay? And I think that lip buzz is part of a sequence that helps you produce your most natural embouchure.

One of the controversies - a lot of people won't duel it both because they say that

you don't buzz into the trumpet. My answer to that is "I don't care."

Whether you're right, or whether you're wrong... "I don't care"

Whether or not that's a good reason to not buzz "I don't care." So, there you go!

The the reason I do it has nothing to do with that. I do the lip buzz to

get all the facial muscles in the right place. I do the lip buzz for the same reason why some teachers teach

- M -

to make an embouchure.

A lot of teachers will say "just make an M." Okay? Now as a teacher...

I've tried that, and you get a variety like so many different results from that.

And if you take into account, really, if you take into account

different nationalities, different cultures, different personal experiences,

having them doing - M - does not really guarantee

that their lips are gonna end up in the same posture as where we want to get them.

So I reject the whole - M - thing right out, okay?

So to me, if a student can get a buzz, then

the posture of the lips is now correct.

Now it has to be... the frequency has to be the right frequency. So if a student has a buzz... [blowing raspberries]

That's not what we're looking for. So I ask the students to please

try to match the pitch. Try to get the right sound even though - I mean - that's a hopeless

objective, but that's what we strive for!

Now...

Knowing that that's the reason why we do the lip buzz, there's no need for

an extended period of lip buzz. My lip buzz for my practice day is...

...it maybe as long as five minutes on a long practice day.

So one of the controversies also about doing lip buzz is that you will get a stiff lip.

and...

This is actually true! I don't disagree with that.

But, if you're doing small amounts of lip buzz, that's not going to happen.

You know, for my beginners, they do lip buzz for only like 15 seconds if that much.

For the intermediate students, they're getting two minutes at the most.

That's if they're very ambitious students.

And that's two minutes out of a

45 minute session.

So no you're not gonna get stiff from doing lip buzz. And... My routine has built into it

two things that counteract the stiffness

that might be created by lip buzz. That's the

lip bends... I almost always put lip bends in my long tones.

And then also pedal tones will help loosen up that stiffness. And my long tones also have, at the end of the each long tone,

almost always have a pedal tone.

So let's recapitulate here. Why do we do lip buzz?

If you're doing things the way I teach...

the reason why you do lip buzz is not for strength

They're doing lip buzz to help you find, over a long period of time,

the most natural embouchure for you.

I actually don't want my students to do it for strength.

The best thing you can do for strength on your trumpet is spend time on the trumpet!

There's only one exception to that and I'm not going into that right now.

But yes, the best thing you can do for strength is not lip buzz even though it will help your strength

but it will take you in a bad direction

The best thing you can do for strength is to practice your horn.

Alright, we'll talk about my strength formula later in another video.

But for now, I just wanted to point out why do we do a lip buzz?

It's a very specific reason. It is one exercise in a sequence of exercises that leads daily

towards your most natural embouchure.

that I forget I've been buying stuff from the Aliexpress website for about

maybe about four and a half years now but some of my mobile phone accessories

there cases there through the years you know like this one's this one camera

gears their drone accessories such as the remote control booster some ND

filters and so my reviews related towards those type of consumer goods

hopefully after the end of the video you'll get a good understanding of the

Aliexpress website and whether it is safe and legitimate website to buy items

al Express is owned by one of the richest man alive Jack man who owns

Alibaba if you don't know what Alibaba is do check it out basically it's a

Chinese based company who wholesales a lot of products all over the world so

they set up Aliexpress kind of similar to eBay it's like a Chinese eBay al

Express is kind of like gateway for US consumers to buy small quantity of items

as opposed to going through the Alibaba website where you buy wholesale when I

say wholesale you know 500 1000 pieces of items to put it in perspective

Alibaba is sort of b2b whilst Aliexpress is B to C again it's like eBay but

prices are crazy they're really trade plenty of items to choose from there's

even a DJ or a store in there the way I see it it's a good alternative site to

buy stuff especially if you're not in a rush

you know just remember all of these items are sort of made in China the

shipping can take some time depending on which seller you're buying you know

about some software arrives here within two weeks some stuff can take maybe six

weeks if you're planning properly for example this is just an example you want

to buy the vinyl or the iPhone X and it's out of stock at the moment

if you're buying it you're gonna wait say for six weeks before it arrives now

you purchase your iPhone 10 you go to the Aliexpress website you look for an

iPhone 10 case and buy it from there shipping can take maybe two three weeks

by the time the case arrives hopefully your iPhone pencils over I only buy

stuff where I know I don't really need it right now

let's say if I need an ND filter for example I don't have the drone yet I

know I'm gonna buy for a new drone or I'll buy the ND filters there now and

then five weeks later it'll arrive and hopefully by then I would have bought my

drone at the shops skin or something like that it's just a matter of planning

TIMSS arrives our package really well again depending on the seller where

you're buying never really had any issues with customs always arrives into

the post office like in any online shopping do check out the sellers rating

for example if you're buying a SmartWatch hey now you look at the list

accelerating whether the you know it ranges from one star five star in this

example it's 4.9 stars there's 52 votes votes 52 votes and also one thing you

need to check is the order number now there's been 314 orders in here so you

know that everyone's been buying that item and the review seems to stack up

then I would say that seller is legit you check the seller ratings the number

of orders and read some reviews to make sure that you're comfortable and what

you're buying bias protection I never really had to use them again

keep it there only bought smaller items I never bought anything more than 100

strong dollars in conclusion is it legit yes

is it safe yes why would you want to buy from Aliexpress to go the alternative to

eBay good elephant for Amazon Australia and any other online sort of websites

that we have here they do have some awesome sales like Black Friday Cyber

Monday you know you name it they have different sales all year round question

of the day if you bought some stuff like Aliexpress what's your experience like

but if you had a good experience have you had a bad experience whether they

lost the item they didn't replace it do comment down below we'd love to hear
