289 Cobra named "Dirtbag" | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 28 - Duration: 10:45.

(rock music)

- [Host] We're at the home of Lynn Park,

whose a friend of mine,

and he's got at least a barn find Cobra or two,

and I can't say that I found them, Lynn found them,

and so we're gonna take a look

and he's got stories to tell about each one,

so really amazing to be able to find a 289 Cobra

in this day and age that people won't have just neglected

and ignored them so let's go inside and take a look.

(heavy rock music)

Wow, so I haven't seen this yet, wow!

- [Lynn] There is the Dirt Bag himself.

(laughter)

- [Host] This is authentic right here.

- That's Dirt bag just as it was found.

That car sat in a fellow's back yard for 20 years,

and I've had it the last 22 years.

Anyway, one of the Offenhauser guys bought it,

he drove it until 1974 or five,

and something quit and he doesn't remember what,

parked it in a backyard under a blue tarp and it sat.

Everybody knew it was there, people tried to buy it.

But the wife was just cranky,

she said "No way, get outta here."

A friend of ours went over there

with a suitcase full of cash and tried to buy it,

and she said "I'm not impressed with your money,

get outta here."

- [Host] Wow. - Yeah.

- [Host] How far away from here?

- Twenty miles. - Man!

Had you ever seen the car?

- [Lynn] No! I'd seen the blue tarp,

because it was outside the whole time.

- [Host] Now, it got rained on?

- [Lynn] That's why the paint's so bad,

because you know, the blue tarp it would sweat,

and then dry out, sweat, and dry out.

- [Host] Is that an original color?

- [Lynn] No, it was red, and he had Shelby paint it for him

when he bought it. - [Host] Mhmm.

So how did you luck into buying it?

- Don Lee actually smooth talked the lady into selling it!

He loaded it up on his trailer and brought it over here

and said, "Lynn, look what I got!

Let's make a race car out of it!"

I said, "Don, that's too much work."

And this is before a barn find was in,

I mean, at that point it's just a used up Cobra.

So he said, "I wanna make a race car." I said, "No way!"

I said, "Let's find a race car,

it'll be cheaper in the long run."

(murmurs agreement)

So we found one, he needed a lot of parts

for that car that I happened to have,

so I said "Okay, I got all these parts,"

he said "Okay let's make a deal."

So we traded a bunch of parts,

and I gave him some money and I got the car.

But at that point I was gonna restore the car.

No one wanted a ratty car like this.

- Yeah.

- Carol Shelby saw it, and said "Lynn!"

We were at one of the Cobra days at the Peters Museum,

and he said "Look at all these shiny cars.

No one's looking at them,

they're all over here looking at this thing!"

He said, "You ought to leave this thing alone!"

- [Host] Isn't that something?

- And I said, "You know what,

if it's good enough for Shelby, it's good enough for me!"

- [Host] What condition was it like,

like the interior of the seats, what were they like?

- [Lynn] I don't tell very many people this,

but those aren't the seats that came in the car,

they were gone. - [Host] Yeah.

- The mice had eaten them up,

so I had another pair of old seats that I put in.

But the dash is the same, the steering wheel is the same.

- [Host] Carpeting?

- Carpeting is the same.

- Tunnel cover?

- Tunnel cover, I can't remember if it was on the,

I think it was though,

because the paint under here is all cracked and horrible.

- [Host] Yeah! Now the steering wheel is the same?

- Yeah, I had to do a lot of work to it.

- [Host] I bet.

- [Lynn] Because it had de-laminated,

so I got a lot of time with glue and clamps.

- So you've had this car 20...?

- Since 1995.

- And it was sitting outside for 20...?

- 20 years, 20 or 21, nobody's real sure.

- Did they buy it new, the Offenhauser family?

- Yeah. - They bought it new!

So you're the second owner?

- They bought it new, and the worst part of that,

he doesn't remember what didn't work!

He said, "We parked it for some reason!"

- And the value of the car, did they have a garage,

could they put it in a garage?

- They would have, but it would've meant

that their '68 Chevy had to sit outside.

- Geez, man. Does it have the original motor in it?

- Oh yeah, I have never taken the original motor apart!

- Can you show it to us?

- I cranked it over to see if it would turn over,

by hand and it did, I said, "Okay, so nothing's broken."

I put a carburetor on it.

I put a water pump and a fuel pump.

- [Host] How many miles were on it?

- I think 30,000.

- [Host] When you got it? No kidding!

- Which is a lot!

For a car that's five years old essentially.

- [Host] Yeah, yeah, yeah. 38,000 now!

- It smoked like the devil,

but Marvel Mystery Oil to the rescue!

Put that in the crank case,

and it smoked less and less and less,

and now it doesn't smoke at all unless you let it sit

30 or 40 minutes and start it, you'll get a little puff,

but it needs to smoke, it's Dirt Bag!

(laughter)

- [Host] And so, that's the other barn find?

Or do you have another barn find?

- [Lynn] The orange one.

- [Host] The orange one?

Ah okay, that's a race car.

[Lynn] That is a race car with a SCCA racer

so it's not a pro racer that's all pretty,

it's a weekend warrior that got changed

with the rules every year,

you can see remnants of an old hood scoop

when the hood scoop was legal for B production.

Then all of a sudden it wasn't so they welded it up,

the flares kept getting bigger.

- [Host] And so, where did you find this car?

- [Lynn] This car was in Sacramento,

a little town outside of Sacramento.

But the last time I really saw it

before I was able to buy it,

Gordon Gimbel's wife died and there was a funeral up there,

I think that was 2003 or so,

and I went over and talked to him again,

got him a bunch of parts,

he was really enthusiastic at that point

about making it run again.

So I got him all the suspension pieces

he'd need to put it back together.

Eight years later, when I went and bought it,

all the parts were laying there not touched.

- I'm looking at how the stones

beat the inside of the fenders here.

- [Lynn] Yeah. - You gotta check this out.

- This is a car that got a lot of races.

- [Host] This is aluminum body,

so when stones get chipped up from the tires,

sticky race tires might pick up stones.

Look, it's like an acne finish, geez.

Do you still race this?

- [Lynn] Yes, yeah. - [Host] Wow.

- [Lynn] And so I put the engine back together

with older parts to kind of look like it was then.

Then best part about this, the motor was not in the car.

So I said to Gary,

I said "What are we gonna do for a motor?"

He said, "We'll just go pick it up at the machine shop."

I go "How long has it been at the machine shop?"

"Oh, 40 years." - [Host] Oh geez!

- It was still there! - [Host] Really?

- Yeah. - [Host] Man!

So it runs well?

- [Lynn] It runs perfectly.

- [Host] It races well?

- [Lynn] Yeah, it really does,

this car is not the most powerful motor I've got,

but because of the roll cage,

and all the stiffness that it provides,

the car handles better than any of them.

But it is just so, everybody said,

"Well then you've gotta restore it,

you gotta at least get rid of the cage!"

I said, "No, this shows what a lot of Cobras were."

They weren't the pretty boy racers,

they were just old race cars that got used every weekend.

- [Host] So tell me, here are two Cobras you found,

how many barn find Cobras are left out there, do you figure?

Either you know about or you suspect?

- I don't know of any for sure,

everybody says "Oh I think I there's one."

A buddy of mine took to me one and yeah,

from the street in the guy's garage down there,

it looked like a Cobra but no it was an old Mercedes,

but the grill was gone and it kinda had the right shape,

but (clears throat) it wasn't.

I don't know if there's very many left,

I don't know, there's bound to be a couple.

- So now if you want one, you have to build one.

You might as well give us a tour of the one.

(laughter) - Yeah!

- You don't mind people knowing that it's?

- No, no, I don't want people to think

that I'm trying to fool them.

- Alright, so Lynn just said that there's probably not,

maybe one maybe none, barn find Cobras left.

Believe it or not, this is a brand new Cobra.

This is a brand new body,

a brand new chassis but it looks old.

Lynn has been saving parts, Cobra parts for decades,

so he built this car with old parts,

but it's actually a new aluminum body,

Kirkham body? - [Lynn] Kirkham car.

(exhales sharply)

- But, I also used some old suspension that I had,

A-arms that I had that were damaged that I repaired,

brakes that were older, people had replaced

or I had replaced on other people's cars, just old stuff.

The seat belts, they're not necessarily Cobra seat belts

but they are the same as the Cobra seat belts.

I don't want people to think that I took a lot of

original Cobra's parts that should be on an original car.

- Right.

- Ebay is loaded with this stuff.

- No kidding!

- I mean if you want a Cobra steering wheel,

you don't have to make one look,

you don't have to buy an old one.

You buy a new one and make it look old.

But this happens to be an old wheel and it isn't my favorite

but it's a good old steering wheel.

- [Host] What does this engine look like?

Geez! Looks like it's overheated!

(bewildered laughter) - [Lynn] Yeah.

- [Host] This car was a pile of components how long ago?

Two years ago or something?

[Lynn] - Two years ago. - Two years ago.

And did you put all this mud on here and stuff?

- [Lynn] Yeah, I found a mud puddle that just called to me.

(laughs loudly)

What made me, I started off, I had old tires

but they were wobbling, I drove it and I said,

"This car does not feel good to drive."

So I went down and bought a brand new set of tires,

well they look too new so I had to

find some muddy water to drive through,

so it had just rained and Angeles Crest Highway has got some

good turnouts with mud puddles in them,

so I went there and...

- People at shows you go to,

they're probably pissed off at you like crazy.

- [Lynn] Not as many as I thought would be.

- [Host] Really? (laughter)

- [Lynn] They love, I think they wish

they had thought of it themselves.

- [Host] Yeah yeah yeah, that's amazing.

So it does not have a serial number?

- [Lynn] No, it's got an AC serial number.

We start with an AC chassis and title.

- [Host] Is that right?

- [Lynn] But I don't wanna tell people what the number is.

- [Host] Okay, yep, yep.

- [Lynn] So I leave that alone.

- [Host] Well that's cool, wow.

- Mickey Thompson tie-in.

I was gonna put Mickey Thompson valve covers on it,

I said "No, I can't do that."

- [Host] What was the Mickey Thompson story to this?

- The guy that owned this knew,

Michael Goodwin is the fellow that got convicted

of having Mickey Thompson killed.

- Hah! Goodwin, now Goodwin raced this?

- Yeah.

- Did he really? - In the 60s.

- Wow!

Ghost Tutorial: Introduction - Duration: 2:29.

Hey buddy, this video is the first video of the Ghost Playlist, and in this playlist you

will learn everything about Ghost.

In this video I will tell you what is Ghost, When was it made and who made it.

We will also be talking about what kind of websites can be created using Ghost.

Ghost is a NodeJS module for creating blogs somewhat like WordPress.

It's initial release was on October 2013, and was by John O'Nolan.

Ghost is built using NodeJS, which means it is a lot faster than a typical PHP server

or WordPress, it uses popular Express.js as it's server and for a database you can select

between SQLite or MySQL.

It also has a nice templating engine called Handlebars.

Unlike WordPress, Ghost uses Markdown to format the posts you write.

So, in order to work with Ghost you just need to know Markdown, thats it, nothing else,

and if you want to develop applications or plugins then you need to know JavaScript.

For making themes, typical HTML, CSS and JavaScript is enough, along with a little bit knowledge

of Handlebars.

Here are some of the popular companies using Ghost for their blog.

Almost everybody knows about Mozilla Firefox, the organization Mozilla uses Ghost for hosting

their Virtual Reality Blog.

They have slightly modified the Casper theme that comes default with every Ghost Installation.

Another great example will be the Tinder dating company, they also use Ghost for their blog.

But unlike Mozilla they use a completely different theme.

DuckDuckGo is a popular search engine known for it's privacy.

Here is their blog, which is also based on Ghost.

They also modified the default Casper theme according to their needs.

WordPress is used for creating many other types of websites other than blogs.

But Ghost only targets Blogs and publications.

Here is the list of videos that are coming in the Ghost Tutorials playlist, there might

be small changes but the main content is going to be the same.

In the next video we will compare Ghost vs WordPress, so bookmark this playlist and subscribe

this channel.

10 Things You Should Never Say To Your Child - Duration: 11:19.

I'm always giving you parenting advice.

Today, 10 things you should never say to your child.

We've talked a lot on this channel about things you should do or try or say to your kids.

Today's a little different.

I found an article online from Parenting Magazine, this article is written by Michelle Crouch,

from Parents' Magazine.

I'll put a link in the description down below if you want to go look at the article.

10 things you should never say to your kids.

This was an interesting article and as a psychologist, it caught my attention.

Now hopefully, you're already aware of the obvious ones, okay.

Like saying "Oh, she's the cute one."

Oh really?

Be careful with that one, right.

Or "He's the smart one."

or "she's the athletic one."

Putting these labels on our kids doesn't help.

Just wait til your father gets home.

Remember that one?

Yeah, not particularly helpful.

Or "Why can't you be more like your brother?"

These are the obvious.

We're not going to go there today.

This particular article triggered some thinking for me and I wanted to share with you a few

psychological insights into what the article mentions.

So the first one is, "Great job!"

Wait, what?

You're not supposed to say that to our kids?

We all say that, right?

There's a good point behind this.

We don't want to create a scenario where out children are dependent on our own approval

or affirmation for what it is that they are doing and there's nothing wrong with saying

"Great job" to your kid.

What if you were to be a little more specific?

So when your child comes home from school ad has a good grade on their report card.

Great job!

As opposed to something like, instead try "I noticed that you got an A in English, how

do you feel about that?"

So we're turning it back to them, inviting them to explore their feelings about their

performances instead of just declaring something about it.

So it's not something that's completely destructive, none of these are really but there are little

subtle things that I think are helpful to look at.

Here's the second one.

"Practice makes perfect."

You ever heard that from your parents when you were learning how to play the piano or

learning a new skill?

Now that's a common phrase, not particularly helpful to say to our kids.

Why?

Because they're already working hard on things and they never get it perfect, do they?

Do you?

Does practice really make perfect?

You know, it's probably more accurate to say practice makes more permanent because whatever

we practice we get better at but it's not necessarily adaptive.

You could practice being in a negative mood for example and you're going to get better

in a negative mood so instead, what if we were just talking to our kids in a way that

affirms their efforts and helps them to understand the more I work on something, the better I'm

likely to get at it.

And let's just leave the perfection standard out of it.

I think that's the thing that spoils it.

Let's look at another one.

"You're okay."

Almost in an anxious way.

You know, sometimes if your kid stumbles and gets in their knee or falls down and they're

crying, it's our natural tendency as parent to comfort them, right?

And there's nothing wrong with that but telling them you're okay, sometimes triggers a little

thought process in our kid's mind that "Oh, well shouldn't I be?

Is there some reason why you're settled?"

You know what, I saw this most flagrantly when I was doing child custody evaluations

and I kid you not, I saw an exchange where the mother in this case was sending the child

to go over to the father's house for a weekend I think it was, may have only been an evening.

But as she was preparing the child to leave, she kept saying "You're okay.

You're going to be okay.

It's going to be alright.

You're going to be safe."

The kid is going nuts because of mom's anxiety.

Do you see this?

So instead of saying you're okay, notice that when your child is hurt, yeah, of course,

they're okay, you know that but throwing that in their face right in the moment probably

isn't the most helpful thing.

What if you were to just comfort them and show some empathy?

Where as you're holding them and say, "Oh, you skinned your knee, that hurts, doesn't

it?"

Yeah, it hurts.

Of course it hurts.

So again, not a really destructive word we say, it's something that we commonly do.

Just think about some of the implications.

Let's go to the next one.

Number four, "Hurry up."

Alright, this is kind of obvious because of the pressure that it creates.

What if instead you were to join your child in the process of getting ready to go somewhere?

Let's just hurry.

You see how that feels a little bit different?

And we're going to phrase it in a positive way.

Here's number five.

"I'm on a diet."

Okay, parents sometimes allow their own issues to bubble over and affect their children that

don't even realize that they're doing it.

If mom or dad is so self conscious about their appearance or their weight or whatever they're

constantly "Oh, this dress makes me look fat." or "I just can't okay basketball like I used

to because I'm so overweight." or "I'm on a diet."

Alright, the child tunes into that and they notice it.

Again, let's phrase this in terms of what it is that we want and bring out the positive

aspects of it, something like "Let's eat healthy so that we'll have energy and we'll feel good."

Okay?

You can address the same things without bringing your own pathology into it.

That stings a little sometimes.

Let's go on to number six.

"We can't afford that."

Now, I'm a big advocate for teaching kids about finances and how to live within their

means.

When we say we can't afford that and it's something that the child wants, it creates

a whole different feel for that child than if you were to say "You know what, sweetie,

that would be a really neat thing to get and we are saving up right now for this other

thing that we really want."

Maybe it's a family vacation, maybe it's groceries, right?

It can be that basic sometimes.

But instead, redirecting them from "Oh, you can't have that because we can't afford it."

to "We're saving our money for this thing."

Which teaches a real principle.

You can't spend it on this and that and that's going to help them some things about finance

but here's an even more powerful way.

What if we were to change "We can't afford it.

We can't do it.

We don't have time for it."

to "How could we afford that?"

Imagine yourself having that conversation with your teenager for example.

Well, that looks really interesting.

How do you think we could afford that?

Now we're inviting the mind to do a little thinking, right?

Instead of just resisting.

Let's go to the next one.

Number seven, "Don't talk to strangers."

Alright, that's some clear rationality behind this, because we want to keep our kids safe.

What if instead we were to help them to be more discerning about who to talk to?

Okay, what if your child gets lost sometime and you're not around or anyone else they

know, that means everyone is a stranger.

If they've got it in their mind don't talk to strangers, then they're on their own, aren't

they?

What if we were to teach them to look for a grandma or mother with children or look

for a store person that's wearing the uniform or for a first responder, you know, a police.

There are people in our community that can be helpful and if we teach our children to

be more discerning, we might be able to lead them into better direction instead of just

don't talk to strangers.

Here's number eight, "Be careful."

Now what is this about typically?

Typically it's about the anxiety of the parent.

The example in the article had to do with being on the monkey bars in the playground.

The child's up there and they're doing some acrobatic routine, right?

And mom is nervous and so mom's like "Oh, honey.

Be careful."

Well, okay.

That might distract the child and get their focus off of what it is they're doing.

The suggestion in the article I thought was brilliant.

Go over closer to the child and spot them in case there's an incident and then after

the fact, you might talk about how to use discretion in judgement after the activities

that they choose.

I thought that was an interesting one.

Here's another one.

"No dessert unless you finish your dinner."

This falls into a category for me about positivity and negativity which will totally surprise

you, guys.

Cause I'm a positivity shrink right?

What if instead of saying "No dessert" we say "You can have dessert after your dinner's

finished."

or "We all eat dessert once dinner is finished."

okay, see, frame it in a positive way just makes all the difference.

Here's one more from the article.

"Let me help."

Alright, now as well as intention as that is, a lot of times our kids are working on

something that they don't have the same level of skill and dexterity that we do so they're

stacking something up for example or they're doing a puzzle and we want to jump in "Well,

let me help you with that."

Just before they were about to get it.

Give them some time, let them develop their skills and back off sometimes.

It was interesting to go through this list and see some of the things that they're saying

that you should never say to your kids but cause they're things that we always say, right?

A little bit of thought about adjustments, minor adjustments and along those lines, you

know, if you're flying an airplane for example and you get just one degree off, just one

degree off course, after 500 miles, you're way off course so you make a course correction

and that's what we're talking about here.

These are not way off, these things that I read to you today, things to never say to

your kids.

Well, what if we make little course corrections in the things that we commonly say to our

kids.

Could that create some better outcomes?

I think it might.

Did that list surprise you too?

It did me.

Subtle adjustments, course corrections can make a huge difference, I'll see you tomorrow.

Hmuifang & Sialsuk Tlang : Day 5 & 6: Mizoram Trip - Duration: 17:35.

Today is a Thursday and we are leaving for Hmuifang.

There's our car.

Our luggage is being loaded.

We have checked out from the tourist lodge.

The internet was very poor here. I was trying to upload a video, but couldn't.

So I'll try to do it along the way.

This is a small village on the way to Hmuifang from Aizawl.

We are taking a break here.

It's my brother's birthday today, and also Diwali.

I didn't feel like having cake, so looking for something else.

We were informed about a local sweet dish made from sugarcane.

There's the sweet dish inside it.

This is jaggery.

This is sugarcane juice.

Hmuifang Tourist Resort.

It's almost 2 PM. Was a 2 hour journey from Aizawl.

This is a property of Mizoram Tourism.

This is the reception but seems like nobody's here.

Guests often are not able to find their keys in the evening. So these people have come up with this solution!

The properties are good but not maintained.

It's very dirty there.

This is the room.

Water shortage!

There's the balcony!

There's a fan. But may not be needed as the weather is quite pleasant.

This is another room.

All rooms are 600 per night but the deluxe room costs 1,000 per night.

Now, we'll see the Deluxe room.

This is not like what I thought.

This is the balcony.

I'm going to see another room.

The property is big but maintenance is the main issue.

A solar heater is up there.

Two single beds, poorly maintained walls.

Food costs are almost the same in all the Mizoram Tourist Lodges.

Daal, Sabzi and Rice, each for 30 Indian Rupees (per plate).

Roti for 5 INR. No doubt, the place is really beautiful!

I had lunch and now I have come to this park.

Hmuifang has only got this park to see. It's located a height of around 1,600 meters.

Clouds!

This 'whistling' sound is being made by an insect.

Nothing as a viewpoint, more of a jungle.

This has a better view than the park.

It's 9 AM in the morning and it's a Friday.

We have checked out from the Hmuifang Tourist Resort.

On the way, there will be a Mizo village and a couple of famous waterfalls.

Now, I'm going to the reception to make the payments and complete the check-out formalities.

This was their kitchen.

Hmuifang Tourist Resort's infrastructure is not maintained.

A lot of insects. In the night, a leech got stuck to my foot and it sucked in a lot of blood.

Infact, I didn't even know about it.

If any leech or similar insect gets on to you.

Sprinkle salt on the infected area.

It will automatically leave it's hold.

Now, there's no pain. No issues at all. It's completely fine.

This is the tourist map of Mizoram.

We started our journey from Aizawl. Then came to Hmuifang.

Need to handover this torch and the keys.

Jio mobile network worked extremely well here!

No Airtel, BSNL is also working fine.

Jio is working great. I had uploaded a file of 800 MB and it didn't take much time.

That was a shared Sumo taxi.

Their destinations (To & From) is written in the front.

Similar to the buses in the bigger cities.

That Sumo was travelling between Sialsuk and Aizawl.

So if you wish to come to Hmuifang, get a Sumo from Aizawl which goes to Sialsuk.

This is cow's dung.

There's an entry fees here. 10 Indian Rupees per person.

That hut is the entry fees counter for Sialsuk Tlang.

This is the PWD Guesthouse. It dates back to the British Raj.

It was built in 1890.

It's booking is done through Mizoram Government's PWD Department.

Nice picturesque place!

Really nice views from the hill-top.

You can spend 30 to 45 minutes here.

If you wish to trek, have some more time for it.

Once you complete your trek to the hill-top, it'll be an amazing view!

Archangels - Salvation: Slot review - Duration: 5:55.

Hey slots fans!

NetEnt is back with a new slots game, and not just any.

Archangels: Salvation is the first NetEnt game to have a total of 100 bet lines.

It also features two hot spot areas, which will activate one of the two Wild features when any Wild symbol lands in these areas.

The game also features up to 25 freespins, depending on how many scatter symbols you hit.

The forces of good and evil have reached a peak in their everlasting battle, with Archangels: Salvation.

The game's RTP is 96.1%

Let's have a look.

As you can see, two separate hot spots are featured

: the two top rows of the game area form the Heaven hotspot, whereas the two bottom ones form the Hell hotspot.

Here we see the hell feature in action.

If a 2x2 Wild lands on a hotspot, the respective Wild feature is activated.

For each Wild symbol in the hotspot area, either 1 stack of Wilds or 4 single Wild symbols are generated.

After the features have been played, the win is fully evaluated and paid out.

Here's an example of the heaven feature.

The principle is the same as with the hell feature, yet we see more clearly here

how the newly created wild symbols within the hotspots keep forming new Wilds across the game area.

As you can image, this often results in big wins.

If you manage to hit 3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, you'll activate the free spins.

Although each scatter symbol occupies 2 positions on the reels, each of these counts as one symbol.

Depending on how many scatter symbols you hit, you'll be awarded 10 to 25 free spins.

As you can see, we've hit 10 free spins

Enjoy this round and watch how our winnings accumulate.

Oh, and please stay tuned, for some extra big wins at the end of the video.

As you can see here, the Wild features can also be activated during the free spins.

For us, this even seems to happen more often during the free spins, than during main game.

This can really help crank up your winnings.

Not a bad round, this one, but it seems we can also get big wins during the main game itself, thanks to the devil and angel symbols.

Here we see an example with the devil symbol, which extends vertically over the reels.

There's big wins almost guaranteed with this one.

The angel symbol often produces similar results.

And that's that for NetEnt's Archangels Salvation slots game.

We hope you enjoyed the review. If you did, please give us a THUMBS UP for the video,

and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to our channel for NetEnt's latest and greatest slot reviews.

Breaking Average [1]: Rainbow Six Siege: Get Off My Yacht! - Duration: 35:46.

oh my gosh I suck, oh my gosh I suck, oh my gosh I suck. Did he move. I don't have to

move. I can't.. okay. Ahhh we almost got h-

Welcome and hello. This is breaking average. Breaking average is a show that

came to me after I began to record my Rainbow six clips. Why you ask?

Posterity sake, for research, just to have it, watch it.

Here I am with all these clips. Nothing to do with them. I'm going to try to be

better than the average casual player of Rainbow six. Here we go, yacht. Thank you

yacht. Oh man, I've not relearned this map yet. Last time I played on yacht was

Operation Health. Soon as Grim Reefer, sick name bro. Soon as he loads in

we can get down to business. Don't know, okay let's secure

area. Who's number five. where is a good setup place for me. Oh that was a bad jump. Welp we'll

learn by doing. Let's see where you at my dude Vigil.

Don't shoot me, oh Vigil's down. Dangerous dangerous

dangerous, I'm gonna die, I'm going to die.

All right, there, nope. There's a kill for IQ. Nope nope nope.

TK, you're down. ah gee bus. That was almost the end of me, that just gave me away. Lesion was the

number 5. I killed him, I knew that. Still was not paying attention for goo traps.

A lot of uh friendlies a lot of comrades dead pretty early. I don't know

if we we want to take the blame for that. A team effort

Cav, how much money on Cav dying first. It's a little side bet that

I have with my friends whenever I stream Rainbow six to them. Hasn't been very

fruitful as of late. I guess Cav has either fallen out of meta so only people

who main her actually are playing as her so they're better. Or, I don't know, maybe

all the Cavs have gotten very very graceful but a roamer Cav on my team

is almost always the first to die. Alright, not sure where to place jammers.

I'm gonna place it right here in the stairwell yeah.

I'll close up this real fast I think. yeah Lesion went outside so

they're gonna see through that open door. It's fine.

Close this off. Alright, two doors and one wall that's not going anywhere

long as I have something to say about it. Hit them cams. Oh, I hear swinging baby. Hello, Lion, Ying.

ooh Blackbeard. Not a fan of Blackbeard he is my pickle. No, oh lesion you scared

the bejesus out of me. That door wall is not reinforced, there's a hole there. OH

Cav dead first all four of us are in this room. They can come through there. Where is that Lesion. Really don't wanna stand in that hole. There we go

I'm gonna say uh, that was not average ooh that was pretty

mediocre. Oh my gosh go down. Thank you that's two. Where from where from. That

door being open is not ideal. Oh my gosh, I'm gonna watch left door Vigil

please don't let me die oh okay they have

a way into that hall maybe at least sight lines into that hall, that's bad.

Down you go okay I've got another one on the right mate. Are they both on the right?

Oh geez no they're not both on the right ah Vigil I I dropped the ball Oh Vigil

I dropped the ball no. does he not see me? Quiet quiet Mute, he doesn't-

he doesn't see me. They don't see me they don't see me they think I'm dead.

No that. That was my fault. I took some liberties with thinking they were both

on the right. I stopped watching my door. All right,

I'm not looking great for our merry band. Yes, streaming Rainbow Six to my friends

another reason I decided why not let's uh put some content out there. Let's make

something. Don't hear anything gotta- gotta use your ears and enter the

building use your ears. Are they back upstairs? Geez.

So they successfully defended this objective, why are they back here?

All five. I should not be back here I should be in another room. Shooting them

drones, not very successfully but uh they're trying. boy are they trying.

There's a camera there I learned from watching

a three. Ooh bad oh there we go. Can I- what was that. Hello, Lesion's in the hall

Lesion's in the hall. Oh that's dangerous. Why would you do that as I stand in front of

it. Mad man. All right, what am i doing I've lost- I've lost my way, w here where is

my camera. I really really lost my way where is the

camera. Oh my gosh this is gonna bug me this is

really gonna bug me. Are we breaching? We are inside. What was that? that sounded

Like an enemy.

Garbage what is- that is- a lot of things my fault are happening. I'm over here

listening to boat sounds, The cameras are going to be the end of me. Where they come from?

I hear you. Oh Jaeger, die please. That a shotgun?

ah terrible why are you travelling together why are you roaming as a pack.

Insane. Well, let's watch some friends. Is that a kill assist? Nope nothing.

Get her, sister on sister. Is she down? No she's not dude dude dude you're securing,

are you still securing? You are, you should really watch the door.

Oh wow. Alright Zof, she's right there and you're dead while droning. Where did she

go

she's only out there for a second so I can't blame Lion. Too tough for not

marking her on the way. That is a total defeat. That is not what we are going for.

seven and three in all. A whole bunch of zeroes on my team but seven and three is

uh not what we're going for if it means we lose every single round. That's no bueno.

oh my Hereford. I'd much rather go back to yacht that I know nothing about

than go to Hereford. I have been on a slump here in ol Hereford. I have

specific operators that I like to use on certain maps and in certain situations

and on Hereford, it is IQ with an Aug and ACOG sight. and my previous Hereford

ventures have not been the best. I remember there are at least two

that I remember that resulted in victory. In bomb and secure I believe. That secure

area we were three teammates left. kicking Aurel

Did Speled wrong want to be Finka? Is that why you want to kick Aurel4101?

that's uh not cool bro. Yeah we were down I think it was two to five and we were

on attack which is preferable if you can. You have a better chance to control the

situation on attack you don't want five attackers uh

bombarding you as two defenders so we had we had the you don't want five what five

attackers bombarding you as two defenders and uh we uh we took it it was meas IQ

of course I opted out of the AUG in favor of the commando with the

holographic sight because I was sucking earlier in that match so I decided to

switch out and paid off but, new day we're gonna go beyond. Oh okay that's

bandit. Geez okay

We have a drone down there, what's wrong with you. there we go all right what is happening. Speled wrong is taking

out the whole team. That's what's happening okay this matters none I guess

I'll go oh Jesus that was real bad it's real real bad. I'm here come get me.

Coward I'm here got the stem oh and your dead

All right oh I coul- I couldn't make it to you in time Finka

All right we're gonna kay Legion on objective. Where is our good pal Jaeger

I know if I hop down the ladder and go for Lesion, I'm gonna get shot in the back

by Jeager I can feel it. I heard that, the doors open what's uh rush to rush um

what how did you mark me that quickly

horrible shooting horrible shooting oh my gosh

Thank You Rainbow six culture thank- thank you for it for the the voyeurism

that becomes hey let's kick this guy he's not performing let's kick this

guy. The only reason you can see me is because you're dead. You failed in your

attack or defense and you get the privilege and a privilege over my high

horse to watch me be alive. Oh I couldn't pull it out I couldn't clutch the the 1v

eh 1v2 isn't unmanageable I've done better but couldn't clutch the 1v2

you want to kick me come on man

all right still have to play to win I don't care

is he gonna kill me what's happening oh geez

bad extra backwards on these jammers. oh my gosh oh my gosh this is not gonna

turn out well this is gonna be a lot like our last match probably they're

gonna hop through that hole if they don't come through the door

they're gonna hop through that hole and kill all of us.

that's not quick enough the barbed wire helped a little bit but uh the bar might

help kudos to you but I did not slow him down enough for me to regain

my stability. I could not reach full equilibrium. All right

Not doing great they're either upstairs or downstairs.

hopefully upstairs yep oh don't shoot me smoke. Well they're upstairs

they're either top floor or mid floor uh we will find out before we get there

come on dude please don't please don't come on what am I hearing. Where is that

oh there goes Speled Wrong. dangerous that's real dangerous. I do

not advise blind breaching. I hear Echo I hear ya Echo. I am squandering this

adrenaline then there were two. He's gonna shoot me yes echo doesn't come up here in ah come

on vigil not a great angle not a great angle. Those are footsteps ah jeez.

No stay away from me yokai. I'm gonna die on these stairs, I'm going to die

on these stairs. I hear you how about we toss that down there probably could've cooked

that a little longer. popped us and get shot in the head.

Unsuccessful as you can see chock that down as another below average. You

are failing my friend. House ah much like Hereford I have also

been quite unsuccessful on house specifically. I typically pay typically

play as Ash on house but I've been kind of mixing it up with Zofia. Ash was

my very first main of course how original

but uh I immediately picked Ash and Mute, those were gonna be my mains. I blame

Tubular Assault but I immediately chose ash and picked up IQ

of course and my second- I don't really play a secondary if mute is available I'll play

mute and there's never really been an issue with that but if Mute is unavailable

somehow I will go with Doc and previously that was Rook

Zophia so immediately Zofia spoke to me I have no other DLC operators but

Zophia she spoke to me she spoke to my inner Ash player and I had to have her

So as this being an ash typical map I said why not let's get some

let's get some credit hours as Zofia on a map playing - they're right by the front

door - as a similar operator - hello Pulse - and she saw me that doesn't

normally happen. I don't like hearing boards being broken down. Glaz why are

you front door my friend I guess you can blakk them unless they're on a stair

what if they're right at that corner my dude. Vigil

upstairs don't you shoot my other drone Pulse. I will never forgive you

alright save me save me glaz I will do something very ill-advised and peek

through this window

Thank you gosh so much stem we are huddled up at this door. Downstairs

recruit and I am shooting so poorly.

All righty

so they shafted them with the pool room objective and also plan to shaft us with

the pool room objective it's only fair yeah there we go

seeing as there are no walls to reinforce let's put some jammers on these windows

That was not a great drone hide attempt. Did I jam anyone at the front door

they're absolutely gonna shoot this immediately. Let's cover up this window

Deter any fuses what I like to do on this objective. This horrible horrible objective

as ash I like to be here I appreciate the flank that I can provide

That's a shield op from where? In the basement?

Beautiful, my team is leaving me behind

All right they are taking shots. Geez.

No thank you

gotta be down right oh no you're not down jeez ah oh my gosh oh my gosh I'm

so sorry pulse. How has that happened I'm over here trying not to shoot my

teammate hiding in the smoke and there's ducking me. There she is.

Thought she was down was not down alive and well with a gun shooting at me

I apologize pulse. Rollin heavy with Chimera ops, I like it.

what what I played so far the stem time seems pretty centered on what Finka

is doing specifically, not really team oriented but I'm sure that would be

different if communication was in play or, you know, as people get better

They can feel out opportunities in which Finka will be useful to stem. I've gotten

a lot of stems that I've squandered as you can see. Lion on the other hand has been

pretty darn useful especially early on with probable spawn killers and people

who don't really care that they're about to be marked it's uh instead of having

to hop on cams to see if people are on objective we can get them nice and

clustered up with a pretty red outline. Hello Cav. See also pretty useful,

didn't know they had a Cav and I was not actively looking for their other two

members- operators. Okay stem. Alright Glaz I got ya

Or at least I'll try to get ya.

Hop on through. Bye-bye Cav I really want to pop a hole there okay they're in

the kitchen

this camera, doesn't really matter where it is. I'm getting shot at

geez where are you oh he's in the closet. Of course that's a batch victory. That's

a blinding kill yeah not sure why I threw that I knew they had a Jaeger

and I can see the ADS there. Where am i, oh, second place, not bad not bad

I commend you- horn one not terrible. Ten percent, well it hit? No, that's the answer to that

question Let's tally here: first match, beautiful

performance until I dropped the ball. Let's pause on the tally, tower see I

don't want you to get the impression that I'm not good at the game cuz I am

good at the game or at least decent at the game but very specific maps recently

I cannot stress have been not great for me and tower is one of them. Tower

because I haven't learned it entirely already I still get turned around and

sometimes and I'm not especially confident on my breaches and moving

around the map, but tower we'll see how we do. That's

three, only three: Hereford, House, Tower. There will not be any more that I tell

you. I'm not gonna tally. First match I play IQ on tower by the way as you can

see. First match what was it, seven kills beautiful

performance until I dropped the ball we were gonna win that round we had the

doors cover and I did a no-no; looked away from my door because I thought they

were stacked up on one door. No around that victory and a little embarrassing

actually a wee bit embarrassing I would say 7 and 1, 0 and 3 that does not mesh. Second

match I'm gonna rack that one up to to team-killing

what am I doing with this drone oh it's a lot farther than I thought it was.

alright they are there let's remember how to get there

should I pop the camera. movement and Cavs up. we're gonna going.

I cannot play it safe oh no Cav sweet all righty let's be very wary of the

hallway. Get some dronage in here. ooo, double dronage, I bet I can pop you

from here waste a couple shots. ah you ruined it don't really need that he

was all the way over there he probably has a better shot at me than I have of him

is it reinforced? That is reinforced. Geez, oh that's the wrong

button come on I need this gone I hope you hope

you don't die jackal what okay let's try that again

boom hello bye shield Oh horrible shooting.

I'm gonna blame the explosion and not my poor hand-eye coordination. All

right one and done not bad not bad

We did not play it smart we played it by ear and we were successful and where are

they gonna place us? Same place I hope not. Office, now here in office I

like to run out way far here because it's real easy to see the objective once

you hit that doorway. It is a costly of time but if you get it down before they

they saw it coming, it pays off. Block off all of the windows why

are these why - every other window on every other map

is barricaded by default. Unless it's an interior window. This particular -

you don't need this here I'm going to oh geez I'm gonna get shot in the head I'm

getting shot in the head barricading. why what is happening why are all of

these open geez my dude. I'm gonna hole up in this nice little corner.

hopefully not get shot in the head. Okay reinforced what are you marking. I did

not reinforce a single wall. Oh Dokka - doors up, they're on their way.

Oh that was window. I hear you babe. Don't you move don't you move

Don't you move. Ah jeez, leg shots for days you're gonna pop me if I if I come

out. How about I get you to throw a flash grenade or something. It gets Jaeger'd.

Ah jeez. Alright that's gonna slow you down a

little bit. Oh what is that, is that Zofia? That is not ideal.

This is not an ideal position. I am exposed there, exposed - there goes

bandit please please

all right ah I'm gonna die ah he's tossing smokes. Lesion I believe

in you, Lesion I believe in - he's a Glaz. he can see you. All right Glaz is dead, nice. Did

I get my kill assist? No, she's still alive. There's one.

Give me my other kill assist, she's right - dude

dude how did you not see the barrel of her gun. How. Not great

I got an assist, I should have had two assist cuz we should have won that round.

mmm time to uh not be trash. My head was not in the game for a hot second I

was at the kitchen yep. I see a Lesion up in there. How do I

want to attack the kitchen. That window in the grill area is a

deathtrap. I'm gonna say that right away.

come on Cav, you gotta do better than that.

Oh geez

don't wanna walk in front of that though and we lost I told you this was a deathtrap.

Oh they have a Frost? Ooo that is two of us

down, please don't lose, ha thank you. That is why information is the most

valuable currency in this game.

Where are we, back in CEO's office. I don't see why the same

setup cannot be applied because we we were going to slash the post to win that

round I stand by it. That's - oh wow - team wised up okay your

board's breaking sounds like, okay you put some holes in that the door but we

didn't use that door. We're dropping like flies

that's open I'll hear them if they go that way. Oh my gosh come on I need to even

the odds if only slightly. please walk in front of me

that's one, I hear you, hi. oh my gosh what oh my gosh ah again Glaz. Why can't I

put Glaz down. I may roll with Thermite he may open some doors for me, literally and

figuratively. Where am I, I don't know what I'm doing.

Stay away from me. Can you see me?

please go away please go away. I'm not sure what the operator is I'm gonna go

out on a limb and say it's a frost and watch my feets cuz uh even if there is no

frost, watching your feet is a good way to live.

Wow I was supposed to roll with thermite glad I did not do that

Maybe I should link up with Finka

Let's stack some numbers here.

where's that huh uh-oh I'm gonna die if he heard that then I'm

going to die. who's behind the bar? Hello, I see you

Things looking pretty grim for our little team. I'm here, come and get me. I'm

getting popped, how about we trade.

Oh sweet. One more

What

oh my gosh I quit I quit

I quit.

All right guys we're gonna wrap there with that horrible loss horrible

horrible heartbreaking loss. No we will catch you next time. Thank you all who

made it to the end of this video. If you enjoyed that please come back for the

next and watch me in this case be less than average

please Rainbow six let me do better next time

30 DAYS 30 WAYS: "ENCAUSTIC" ART | Crayons // Knoel's Nook - Duration: 2:55.

Hello everyone!

It's Knoel from Knoel's Nook and I'm back with my 30 Days 30 Ways series where

every day we'll paint or color the same image in a different way every single day!

Today's picture is going to be very messy and not pretty, but I still have tons of crayons

laying around so I decided I'd try another technique with wax.

And I will note immediately, I am not an expert on encaustic wax art and this is not an encaustic

wax art tutorial.

Secondly you certainly shouldn't use crayon wax or the paper I'm using if you want to

show any sort of justice to this art form.

I'm going to put some links in the description below for reference and I also urge you to

look up encaustic artists if this is something you think you'd like to look into further.

To melt my wax, I used a little metal mold on top of a candle warmer.

These items were very hot and I almost burned myself a few times so I don't highly recommend

doing this.

I used a plastic spoon to puddle and spread the melted wax onto the paper and attempted

to make any semblance of a landscape and horse.

As for colors, I didn't bother trying to do any specific layering as I found that the

crayon wax hardens so fast.

As a matter of fact, I included a real time clip of wax being laid onto the paper and

its drying time.

It takes less than a minute!

I think I prefer the heating pad technique when working with crayons as you have a bit

more control, but perhaps sometime in the future I will have the ability and knowledge

to show you guys true encaustic art!

Doing this project really piqued my interest into learning about true encaustic art tools

and supplies and I hope it has done the same for you!

If you want to see more videos like this and keep up with the 30 days 30 ways series, I

would totally appreciate if you would subscribe and remember to draw what you love and love

what you draw!

Chefs Review MORE Kitchen Gadgets - Duration: 8:31.

Hello we are sorted and this is our beautiful fridgecam. Today it's my new

favorite thing, it's us buying a load of tat off of Amazon and putting it in front of two chefs. They're gonna hate it.

Turn around. I think I've seen one of these before because there's not many things

that would go in there. Oh but the best bit of hotdogs this is like the griddle

marks and stuff. I don't think it's annoying me as much as you thought it

would. I'm willing to give it a shot. It's the

hotdog toaster I'm excited at this one. This makes perfect hotdogs in minutes

and it allows you to simultaneously cook two buns and two dogs for the hottest

hot dogs. Oh it fits. I have a funny feeling this is

gonna wind James up. No. Oh it just didn't work it just didn't

work. Oh something's smoking already. After the toasting time is completed the

basket will automatically pop up. Do I have to eat this? It had toasted the bun

It has warmed the sausage all the way through to the centre.

It's just a delicious hot dog. Why? I've already got a toaster... in the other kitchen

Yeah but can you cook hot dogs in it? No. No. Or buns. Cost?

20 pounds. 32 pounds. What a veritable bargain this is at 28 pounds and 17

pence. No I mean I feel like I've come across in this video that I've got some

love for it but I really don't.

He's still eating the hotdog. Wineglass with this sucker. I don't know why I

would have a problem with a thermos flask.

Mighty mug. Mighty mug is the first mug that won't tip over if you

accidentally bump into it but lifts straight up like any other mug is the

smartest drink mark you will ever own. For Ben we've got something similar to

the mug it's a wine glass because...Ben.

Here's a glass of wine. That's good. ...Useless or not from that I would say completely

useless but did I do it wrong?

Ok, you're having a healthy debate at a dinner party. Have a guess at price.

There's a lot of expensive water bottles flying around the market. This was 35

pounds. 14 pounds. 15 pounds. Oh they come as a two it's 29 pounds 98. I am

pretty good at this pricing lark. It needs to look beautiful as well as be

really useful. I'll say it's useful. Useless or not you decide. It's got a

serrated edge and it's got some little flutes things on the top. It's a very

purposeful knife. Purposeful stainless steel butter spreader and curler. You

butter believe it make quick sandwiches with one knife.

Okay so you're increasing the surface area so that you get butter curls that

will in theory melt quicker onto bread. Now spread it. I mean it does appear

to make a difference. Serrated for cutting through stuff that makes sense.

Once your butter holes are full it's just a knife. How much you think

it's for sale for? Eight quid. I'm gonna say five pounds. Please don't be more than five pounds.

Don't say it more than... if it's more than five pounds just don't tell me. Just

don't tell me. Eight pounds 99. Now I'm gonna say useless. I think it's fairly useless but

useless or not you decide. What the devil is that? Looks like something I wanna put my foot into.

Hang on. I'm gonna have a terrible time trying to work this out.

Okay. Something about rolling something. It is

something to do with fruit. Sushi! The perfect roll sushi. This is the perfect

roll sushi. Magic roll never before has sushi being this easy to make. Fill. Pull.

Done. If you're struggling to work out how to use it there's some great

instructions. I know. Little bit of that.

I hope this works I really hope this works cuz I kind of like it so far.

The challenge with sushi is always getting a tight roll. At least that's helping cuz

you're pulling against itself and forming a tight roll. I feel like with

multiple goes that probably is quite good because it is a nice tight roll.

It is not clear with instructions but then as seen on TV I did never see on the TV.

How much? Fiver? Would I buy one? No I would not spend fifty P on this but I

imagine it's probably about a tenner. Twelve pounds ninety-nine. I don't know I

really want to like it so I need a few more goes to work it out but I like the

idea it doesn't make me as angry as you thought it might make me. Another gadget

I just rather have the classic. Useless or not you decide. If you'd like those

gadgets as much as we did then please like this video. Also keep on sending us

Looking for a remedy for heartburn? You have to hear Matt's story. - Duration: 5:53.

- Hi, I'm Dr. BJ Hardick,

I'm here with my friend and my colleague, Matt.

We're talking about heartburn,

it's so interesting because a lot of people

think that heartburn is a condition of your heart.

It's not a condition of the heart at all.

It is a sign of some bad digestive processes

and we're spending a lot of time

talking about digestion, healthy foods for digestion,

healthy lifestyle practices for digestion,

in Maximized Living this season.

So, I want to get to a real life example

because, Matt, you had dealt with heartburn

over 10 years ago, even as a young kid,

what were some of the initial signs

that you were dealing with heartburn,

how did it develop, and what did you do

before you discovered Maximized Living?

- Yeah, absolutely, I mean, it started when I was about 18

and I really started having some flare-ups

and some heartburn, some indigestion,

so I went to my doctor and was prescribed PPIs,

proton pump inhibitors, that are really kind of

the standard pill that anybody gets

when they get heartburn right now.

And then the sad thing was I was on those

for over 10 years after that

before I finally discovered Maximized Living

and the advanced plan for diet.

- Did you deal with any side effects

as a result of being on that medication for 10 years?

- Yeah, I mean, I was never really able to

control weight and I definitely gained some weight

that just kind of snuck up on me.

I thought it was just because I was getting older

but it started as a low dosage

and then it kept moving up and up and up.

- Yeah.

- So I'd actually gone through just about

every process you could to figure out

what was going on

- Yeah.

- with my stomach. I'd had scopes,

I'd had advanced testing and whatnot

and the end result was just stay on the pills.

- Yeah.

It's interesting too because it's always assumed

that your body's just producing this extra acid

for no good reason. - Yeah.

- Our approach has always been to say,

why's the body not

working properly in the first place?

- Exactly.

- Why are there these acidic flare-ups,

so, I guess how did things come about

that you started looking at the Five Essentials

of Maximized Living, how quickly did things change?

- Yeah, yeah, really started actually after

I'd had my first son and I had gone through

all of the traditional things you would

with your doctor, the scopes, and the different plans

and then when the result was stay on the pills

I started looking to more natural solutions

and that's when I went the naturopath

and then I actually went to, I found you,

and started learning about the Five Essentials

and learning about subluxation,

learning about how the spine plays a critical role

in everything functioning and so literally

the first adjustment, I came back to you

at the second adjustment, I said,

"Is it right for my stomach to be feeling weird

"after I got adjusted?"

And it was shortly after that

that I weaned off two pills a day

and went down to one pill a day

and then it was probably about four months

after we started that I went to no pills.

- Yeah, were you working alongside

your conventional medical doctor

while you were weaning off the pills?

- No, no, I did go back and talk to them after.

- I always find it interesting because

clinically I've never told somebody

to not take a medication,

but people do get to a point where

they can either work on their own

to monitor their own status of how they're doing,

how they're feeling, or they can work with their doctor

come off it quite well.

Our job is always to say,

"How can we promote better functioning in your body?"

Not provide an alternative to medication

but just get your body working right in the first place.

Hopefully that you're well enough

that then you don't have to be on things

from the outside in and then deal with those

side effects that you're dealing with as well.

So, and then you noticed an immediate change right away.

Again a lot of people forget that

the brain runs the body through the spinal cord.

The nerves come out of the spine,

thy control all organs, including organs of digestion.

- Yes.

- And that's why, historically,

growing up in chiropractic

we always saw that when people

start getting adjustments, sometimes it wasn't

their back pain or their neck pain

or something physical that went away first,

they'd come back saying the digest their foods better,

they sleep better, their energy is better.

This could actually change first sometimes.

You were more on the lookout for it

'cause you had those troubles.

- Yeah.

- But then also, like, how did the

rest of your journey go as well

because nowadays we obviously through

the Five Essentials wanna look at

what else you're doing from a perspective,

nutrition, detoxification, supplementation,

so, how quickly did you get into that

and how did that help get you further?

_ Yeah, so, almost right away I got really excited

about everything that we're doing,

I went on to the advance plan

and I'd already gone kinda gluten free

and then realized everything else that plays into that

and for no reason other than I figured

everything bad comes between two pieces of bread

so I should probably stop eating bread.

- Yeah.

- So that whole diet and regime change

really helped everything and I ended up

about six or eight months into it,

looking at the scale and realized I'd lost

about 45 pounds. - Yeah.

- So, I was pretty excited about that,

didn't mean to but I had to go buy new shirts

and all that stuff 'cause nothing fit.

So, the overall journey after that

was just kind of like one success after another

and they just kept adding and adding and adding on.

So now that I feel better, I'm off these pills,

I have more energy, I eat better.

- Yeah.

- And just end up having a better outlook

on what I'm eating and what's right to eat

and I've shared that with, obviously, my family

and friends and just about anybody I run into.

- Yeah, yeah.

Amazing story, I think the take home here is that

there really, really is a kind of

conventional way that people do things,

there's an accepted way, it's very accepted

in North America that if you have a problem,

that you just have to live with it

maybe for the rest of your life.

I'm glad you chose not to

and I'm glad you chose to look

at some other alternatives and some other options

and, again, it's all about promoting regular function,

natural function, the way your body's supposed to work

in the first place and that ultimately

is the heart of the Five Essentials.

Is getting your body back to working

the way it was supposed to in the first place

and then letting you then discover

your best health that you possibly can as a result.

So, thank you for sharing your story.

- Absolutely.

- If you know of other cases like this,

if you know of other people that

are dealing with issues, not just related to heartburn

but other digestive problems

whether it's constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel,

Crohn's Disease, all these things,

you have to still always look back

to that connection with the nervous system,

look to the person's nutrition.

If there's a way we can help through Maximized Living,

let's do our best for those people too.

You Shall Be My Witnesses | Rev. Todd A. Jones - Duration: 47:17.

So we're talking about "take heart, take action," and I want to flip it for a bit

at the beginning of this session. I think part of the challenge that we have in

taking action is that we have lost heart, and so I want to review perhaps some of

the ways that we are our hardest challenged. A little bit about about my

background: as far as evangelist evangelism goes I've had a passion for

sharing the Gospel from a very early age. When I was in eighth grade I got in

trouble in my neighborhood because I had convinced all the neighborhood kids to

get baptized and I baptized them. And I was in-- I grew up in Texas and one of the

neighbor families that we were particularly good friends with were the

Boggess family and he was a Baptist preacher and his kids were baptized and

they were very upset they wouldn't let me play with them any longer so I

learned persecution as an early age as well.

Then I went into high school and asked my pastor, "What can I do to to evangelize, to

witness?" and he said, "Well, we have a group that goes out Monday and and we visit, we

visit people who visited the church or we just go to neighborhoods and knock on

doors." I said "I'd love to do that, I want to do that." But I have to tell you, I'm

not some super spiritual evangelist. Every time I had to knock on a door cold

I was praying "Please Lord don't let them be home, please Lord don't let them be

home." You know, because there was a bit of a heart issue--I had a passion but I also

had a little bit of a heart issue, so this is a near and dear topic to me as

well. I'm gonna begin by going back to the passage that we reference quite a

bit, but I want to give you a quick outline.

We're going to be talking about first taking action thinking theologically--so

this is an outline of the presentation-- and then we're gonna take heart what is

what is the heart that we have, the heart for the captives. So this is an overview

of where we're going and I want to begin by looking at this passage... (and it is not

going anywhere we just went through this and it was like yeah Seth it'll work

fine yeah)... But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people

for his possession that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you

out of darkness into his marvelous light. You are a royal priesthood, a holy nation.

This is where our heart begins; our heart begins because we have been baptized

into the priesthood. Now this is not the pastoral office--it's distinct from

that. But Luther says in Baptism we are brought into the priesthood and in fact

the words of Absolution given by a young child have the same power and validity

as the pastor because of the priesthood. And you notice it's not just a

priesthood that stands by itself to be the priest but it's to be priests who

proclaim, who speak forth of Jesus Christ, his glory, his grace, to declare the

praises. That's us. We speak forth-- and the Greek word that occurs here has

the word "angel" in it and we get the word angel from it because we are messengers

but we go out; it's ex messenger--to go out, to go forth. That's what we are to do.

So we're to take action. We're not just baptized to sit but we are baptized to

take action. I love that quote from Luther; I wish I had that--I could have

used this and saved myself some time... but it was an excellent quote. So why don't

we take action? What holds us back? What are some issues that are

challenging our heart? There's a theological component to this.

Here's a quote from a Lutheran who has said "We do not contribute to the

salvation of souls, therefore our evangelism efforts will not make a

difference in the number of those being saved." Now there is some truth in this

statement. We do not save anyone, right? It's the Holy Spirit who works

salvation, works faith in the heart of the believer and that salvation was won

for people on the cross. Jesus Christ died on the cross for all people, so

there's truth in this statement. But there is an application of this

statement which is misleading, an application which takes away the heart.

And it absolves us and says, "Don't take the word out. You're a royal priesthood but

don't worry about proclaiming because it doesn't really matter." And this is a

growing spirit within and among us, some who would look at this statement and say

this is this describes us. Another individual: "While we are evangelical we

are not focused on evangelism, in the sense that we do not believe it is our

efforts at outreach that add to the body of Christ." In other words, why do we do

evangelism? Why do we do outreach? It doesn't really matter. It's not going to

add to the body of Christ. Now again there's truth to this and we certainly

aren't the agents of action; it's the Holy Spirit, it's the Word. But it takes

away the sense of purpose; it takes away the heart. This lack of urgency is a

confusion, I believe, on an attempt of some to reconcile two teachings in

Scriptures. I hesitate to use the word doctrine because when we do talk about

doctrine, the other it's not really spoken of as a doctrine and it is just part of

our faith and that is first the doctrine of election. What does it mean to be

elect? What does it mean to be chosen of God, to be predestined? And the other is

the the teaching about mission or the theology of mission, the sense of

mission--what is mission or salvation of humanity? These are the two that get

confused, so how does it work? If God has chosen us, how does it work therefore

that God still says, "You will be my witnesses?" Those don't seem to

connect well, so how do we make them work? And this is an attempt to synthesize the

two together. From Scripture--I'm not going to read through all the verses

here but I list several that are, that identify the heart and soul of what it

means to be predestined or what it means to be chosen of God. Acts 13:48 is one of

the verses that's most often used to support this perspective when it talks

about the outcome of preaching the Gospel and it says, "When the Gentiles

heard the gospel, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord and all who

were appointed for eternal life believed." So there's this line: "All who were

appointed to eternal life believed." And that's connected in with Ephesians and

Peter and Romans, where we are told God predestines us; God has chosen us before

the foundations of the world. And so there is a very wonderful, comforting,

faith-strengthening component to the teaching of election, the doctrine of

election, that we do embrace. It is because God chose me that I believe and

that I'm here and that's a wonderful message of hope and life.

From the Confessions there are several places you can go to find to read more about this

and I've listed them on the screen here: you go to the Solid Declaration Article

11, the Epitome article 11, Luther's Bondage of the Will--you can find him

discussing and talking about this at great length and so it's helpful

to go back and to review those. It is a doctrine that has been much debated

amongst Lutherans and Protestants, and it is helpful to go back and to review

what do we believe about this teaching.

To summarize the sections of the Confessions, we are reminded that this is

a doctrine of comfort for the believer; that when Paul describes this teaching

he is speaking to believers and he's speaking to encourage them; he's speaking

to remind them of who they are in Christ and that their faith is rooted in

something greater than their experience, something greater than their feelings, so

evLen though I feel like God is distant or even though I recognized I'm not just

a poor miserable sinner--I'm a really good poor miserable sinner at that,

meaning I'm really good at sin. How can God like me? We can go back and

remind ourselves of what God has done in Baptism and what God has called us

to and that it's his work that saved me. And so it provides me comfort because

there's this continual battle within us where Satan wants us to doubt the gift

and God is shouting in your ear right now, "I chose you before Adam and Eve" and

that's our comfort. That's our joy. That's our peace. The Confessions say: "A

Christian should also think about the article of God's eternal election to the

extent that it is revealed in God's Word." That is, the Confessions are very

cautious to say, "Don't make more of this than Scripture." you see, the challenge is

God gives us what we need to know, but our brain wants to fill in all

the blanks; our logic wants to add to this, and so we get double predestination:

if God chose some, then that means God chose not to choose some. We don't

believe that. Yeah. it's logical. But we don't believe it. Why? Because Scripture doesn't

teach that. Because it's not in the Word of God. It's a logical inference but it's

not there, so we have to be cautious. "Therefore we reject when it is taught

that God does not want all people to repent and believe the Gospel; likewise

that God does not desire that everyone should be saved." So the Confessions say,

"Share the Gospel!" God has chosen those whom he has chosen to be saved.

Share the Gospel to all people because you know what? God wants all people to be

saved! And if you read more into this section of the Confessions it's so

powerful there! They point out: this is not an illusion; God is not playing some

kind of a game where "Yeah, I want all people to be saved, wink wink, but only a

few are gonna actually be saved because I've actually only chosen a few select

people." No, the Confessions say God's genuine desire is that all men, all

people, should be saved and come to the knowledge of salvation. And this is where

we get into the teaching of mission, the teaching and the doctrine of of God

sending us out into the mission: John 3:16-17, for God so loved the world--

you know that passage by heart. It is God's love and he sent his son into the

world, not just a piece of the world. To the world. 1 Timothy 2:4 and again

I'm not going to read through all of these sections, "It is God who desires all

people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth." God desires

that all should be saved. Romans 10:14-17 Paul says, "How then will they

call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in

him whom they have not never heard? And how are they to hear without someone

preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As

it is written--How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news. But

they've not all obeyed the Gospel, for Isaiah says, 'Lord, who has believed what

he has heard from us?' So faith comes from hearing

and hearing through the word of Christ." So faith comes through the means; the

faith, salvation given to us through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross but

the power of his resurrection comes through the means--the word; the word

comes from hearing, and hearing comes through those who proclaim--the

priesthood: you and me. It's not that God needs us; it's that God invites us to

share in the joy, and this is why I love 1 Corinthians 9. Paul talks about

doing everything possible to win as many people as possible--and it's interesting

language as many people as possible--to be saved. But he does this to participate

in the Gospel that is to be a part of the joy of seeing people come to faith;

the joy of experiencing people come to salvation. If you've ever had that

opportunity to be able to witness to someone whose eyes are open by the power

of the Holy Spirit to see the truth, and the joy, the excitement that is on their

face and in their heart as this tremendous burden is lifted from them. I

think as Christians, and especially Lutherans who are baptized in the faith,

we don't have a complete understanding of what it's like to live

apart from Jesus Christ. We don't know what it's like to live apart from a

loving Father. And it's pure hell. It is living each day with a sense of total

hopelessness; it is living each day knowing that my next day is totally

dependent on me and my ability to manipulate others or the system, my

ability to work hard and hope that it all works out. But it's all dependent

upon me; there is no one. And what do I do with my brokenness? And what do I do with

my guilt and my shame? I deny it or I am consumed by it. And that's a life apart

from Jesus Christ. We get the opportunity as priests to

absolve the broken; to restore that which was lost. That's what God calls us to,

that's the heart of the Father. "The Holy Spirit wills to effect the repentance of

faith in us through the Word and the Sacraments." This is absolutely true. "The

Holy Spirit does not effect conversion without means, he uses the preaching and

and hearing of God's Word to accomplish it." That God uses the

proclamation of his Word to accomplish this gift. So is there a difference? In

the Confessions it talks about preaching the Word and Proclamation which is what

occurs in Peter; the priesthood of all believers. Preaching is the public

preaching it is a preaching for the church from the church it is what is

reserved for those who have been called in the office of public ministry. They

are the preachers of the Word. we are the Proclaimers of the Word, those who

declare the glory, the greatness, the excellence of God our Father. "You are a

chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging t>o his own

possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who

called you out of darkness into marvelous light." Now I'm from the south

and I know that Paul was from the south as well because in the Greek he's saying

you all, or the less formal y'all. You all are a royal priesthood. Plural. Goes out.

Have you been baptized? You're royal priesthood! Why is this good news? Because

you have the opportunity to share the Gospel; you have the opportunity to

declare the glory of him who called you out of darkness and into marMvelous light.

"Making the power and the validity of the divine means of grace itself dependent

on the right of ordination is doubly abominable, since ordination is only a

human, namely, a church ordinance, not however a divine

ordinance. By making God's business dependent on human institution one

nullifies God commandment through man's commandment, and therefore places the

latter (man's commandment) above the former (God's commandment). This is not at

all to diminish the office of public ministry or ordination, that which set

people apart, but it is to remind us that the Confessions in our church history is

a strong laity. A laity which is clearly rooted in its

identity as a priest as the office of priesthood--the holy priesthood--and that

is the heart that God has given us and that we reclaim today. We'll move forward

to talk about this. (this is gonna move for a little bit) So what does it mean to be a

witness? What does it mean to evangelize? What does it mean to speak forth the

power of God, the Word of God? Is it kind of like this? (There is no audio)

All right, so is that a good example of evangelism? Is that what you're

here for? You know, I had a pastor who said, "Is it gonna be practical? I want to

make sure it's practical." This is not what you do, so just so you know, don't go

home with this. So what do we mean by evangelism? The problem we have is we

have images in our brain metaphors that go through our minds that shape how we

think about evangelism, and they're somewhat flawed.

So we-- first of all, we have the sense that evangelism is just what the

missionary does and this is the old-- really old understanding. Dr. Rast is

gonna be I think talking more about this that that our old understanding we

talked about in Missouri senators evangelist it's what or in Germany

actually what is evangelism it's what the missionary does and in it made sense

because most of Europe was actually in the church it was a church it was a

church to environment if you weren't part of the church you know in some

places you actually were killed so so you were part of the church there was

not a lot of there were a lot of people who didn't believe but there were a lot

of people who were not in the church so evangelism was something that

missionaries do it's not really an issue so much today but it is in our history

it's part of our DNA evangelism of the foreign mission field

a more common metaphor in our culture and pervasive since the Reformation

especially amongst Protestant is that evangelism is like being a peddler or a

Salesman and that is we have to use persuasive

arguments and reason to bring people to the point where they make a decision for

Jesus Christ and this is a pervasive image of evangelism even so that it

challenges us as Christians as Lutheran's so when I think about

evangelism I think I have to bring someone to the point where you know they

have to make a decision for Christ but I know as a Lutheran I'm not supposed to

make a decision for Christ therefore I'm gonna come up with a different way but

it's still I still have to get you to the edge so you take that leap of faith

and it's a lot of just that's a great deal of burden on us that's a great deal

of pressure on us how do I do that what words do I say and so there are all

kinds of methods have come up the four spiritual laws the Kennedy program the

dialogue evangelism program and they're all centered around this moment of

decision and that I have to come up with reasons for you to believe and as a

result of that image many people say I'm not an evangelist I'm not a witness

because I I don't know what I'm gonna say and if I mess it up they're gonna go

to hell you know I don't want to do that

there's also a common trend to think about evangelism as a reformer that is

it's my task to reform your life and so in the video clip that we saw just a few

minutes ago you saw the guy up on the rooftop and you saw the decision

theology and you also saw you know get rid of those cigarettes stop your sinful

ways your shameful ways stop doing this and today it looks a lot like believe in

creationism it looks like you know don't practice homosexuality oppose same-sex

marriage it's trying to reform culture without touching the heart and it's

interesting I went through and looked in the history of great evangelistic

movements in North America not just North America the world and

there's actually been four Great Awakenings I'm trying to see if I can

find my notes to make sure I get the date well maybe I want to give you the

dates but first first Great Awakening happened in 1700s where there was this

tremendous revival that occurred in Europe and it and it got sidetracked by

the fight and poverty and reforms in poverty and this is actually where we

get like Sunday school movement and things like that came from that Great

Awakening Second Great Awakening in the late 1700s to the mid 1800s and this is

where you had tremendous Street Preachers occurring in in Europe and

England and also in coming in here to North America and people were coming to

faith the ranks of churches were filling it once again with people who had fallen

away and that movement got sidetracked and consumed by the ablution n't and and

that certainly was something that needed to be addressed but it went from

proclaiming Christ to proclaiming the abolishment of slavery and from the

pulpits and the momentum was lost for salvation you see if we don't convert

people's hearts we're never gonna convert our culture it starts with the

heart but Satan has a way of putting up this social need that is so great and

and we respond to that social need and we forget it's actually about the heart

and it's happened in the last two great awakenings as well

in the 1850s to 1920s you had this revival of the great preachers of here

in the United States tent revivals spawned a great movement of an increase

in spirituality here in North America and then that was lost to the temperance

movement and people went after that evil liquor you know and and that became the

movement that took over the Christianity the the mission of the church and then

finally in the 50s and 60s and early 70s you had the rise of the Jesus Movement

that was consumed by anti-war and the anti-war movement and so we can look

through history and see how this happens that Christians who have this calling as

priests to proclaim the excellencies of our God get caught up in reforming

culture and it is a challenge today where we begin our evangelism by trying

to reform the person instead of letting the Holy Spirit reform the heart there's

a sense today that evangelism is about membership we need to get people into

our church we need to get people to join our church and become part of our

congregation evangelism is about getting people to join your church so we go out

to hand out stuff that has our church logo on it or we go out and we give

circulars that say come and see what we're doing in our church because we

have a great church this really in the 80s in the mid 90s was the genesis of

most of the contemporary church movements worship movements let's create

an exciting event and then invite people to come and see what it was about and

again it wasn't evangelism its marketing there might be a place for that but

that's not evangelistic laymen sees of him who called you out of darkness it

goes to the heart of our Father for God so loved the world that He gave His only

Son this is what motivated God to send his son it was love for the world it is

this heart that the father has that the world that all would hear the gospel and

believe so I want to think about what do you think about two alternatives to help

you capture the heart of the father think about captivity think about

captives so rather than being a peddler rather than being a reformer rather than

being somebody who is marketing the church let's think about the captives

Jesus said God has anointed me to proclaim the good news he's quoting from

Isaiah he sent me to proclaim liberty or freedom

for the captives now why are people captive what what causes someone to be

captive the root for this word is interesting there are several reasons

you can become captive because you commit a crime so I am in prison because

of my guilt and so I deserve to be in prison I can be in prison because I am

held by my addictive behaviors so I am a prisoner to my addictive behaviors to my

desire for women for wine for drugs whatever it might be gambling this is a

prison we become captives finally because we are taken as a prize in war

and this is the root for this word the root for this word that occurs here is

somebody who has taken captive taken hostage or kidnapped by the enemy so the

first two I'm responsible for its my brokenness that caused us so I'm getting

what I deserve it's easy to think about captives in

that way and say you know I'd love to share Jesus with you but you're kind of

getting what you deserve you're a jerk and I'm not gonna do it

I'm not gonna share Jesus don't do that but anyway that's it'd be easier to do

that but now think about everyone who doesn't know Jesus they are being held

as a kidnap victim by the enemy and how that changes your sense of urgency when

I was in South Dakota as a pastor we had a boy in the neighboring community that

was kidnapped Jacob Wetterling and immediately the call went out he was

kidnapped taken and he was a group of two other boys a brother and a neighbor

and the guy took him left the two boys so they ran home everybody knew in other

words it happened immediately that region and was activated and we began

searching for Jacob we spent weekend after weekend organizing groups to go

and to hunt through the fields through the vacant farms through the buildings

trying to find Jacob we were desperate to find this young boy and that that

desperation is what the father has for those for his children who are being

held in captivity by the enemy and it is out of that desperation that broken

heart that the father says join me in hunting for the lost seeking that which

is lost that which was taken captive this image helps us to regain that sense

of urgency it you see every moment that that child is in captivity is held for

the parent and probably not much better for the child in captivity and so the

rescue is certain in that God has chosen those he he's predestined those yes

that's that's true but what about today what about every day that that person

lives without the gospel of Jesus Christ every day that person lives without the

joy in the hope of salvation what about that day and God says you are my royal

priesthood let's go out let's connect let's let's engage our community let's

make a difference for these people let's seize the day I think I like about the

image of captives is that it gives us a sense of urgency freedom is certain not

for Jacob and other people like him but for those God has chosen those who he

has has chosen certain but the timeline is uncertain let's make it as short as

possible let's get people out out of captivity as quickly as possible the

captives cannot free themselves in fact I've I've read you know Elizabeth smarts

a book describing her time in captivity and the mentality that occurs

where the person being held captive begins to believe this is what I deserve

this is kind of my life this is who I am now and they can lose their identity and

be take on the identity of their captor and that's what we're living in with

right now people that are convinced that their identity is in the stuff of this

world and the brokenness of this world because they've been held captive so

long are our society our culture's been held captive for so long this is who we

are they can't save themselves it takes a rescuer and power the power

of freedom begins with hope and that's what we declare we declare the hope that

is in Jesus Christ not some distant hope that maybe it'll happen but the real

certain hope that is ours in Jesus Christ the confidence that we have Jesus

died on the cross for you and through his death you are forgiven and there's a

father waiting for a reunion with you right now to come and join me that is

the hope that we have the final image that I want to leave you with is the

image of that wait a second that's not the final image but this isn't Exiles to

those who are elect exiles of the dispersion this is this is the getting

into the priesthood there must be I must have slipped a sky

slide this is the priesthood the final image is the priesthood so Paul begins

our Peter begins his epistle to those who are elect exiles of the dispersion

and Pontius Galatia Cappadocia Asia and Bithynia according to the foreknowledge

of God the Father in the sanctification of the Spirit for obedience to Jesus

Christ and the sprinkling of his blood you notice Peter

so he's going to in a chapter later he's going to say you are a royal priesthood

now he's saying you're scattered you're dispersed but you are chosen you are

elect for a purpose for obedience and for the sprinkling of his blood I think

there's so much in these two words

about to say about our calling as evangelists are calling as priests so

the idea of obedience this is that we are called to be obedient to the family

values god's family values but it's not the obedience of like law driven

obedience it's not the obedience of do this or i will no longer choose you

peters already established you've been chosen

he's already established you have been elect he's already established you and

God your good Jesus Jesus's blood has covered you there's no

problem here but as God's chosen and elect people we

walk obediently and in in carrying out the family values and this is why I love

what Luther does with the Ten Commandments and the small catechism

where he takes the law first and then he gives us the opportunity second because

I believe that's what Peter is doing here is he's giving us the opportunity

Oh be Dias isn't like I got to do this it is this is what we have the

opportunity and the privilege to do now that we have been chosen and elected and

for the sprinkling of the blood for the sprinkling of the blood what does that

mean I don't have a definitive answer there's several good interpretations for

this and I think that they all can be very powerful I think part of this if if

I'm reading into first Peter chapter 2 into this verse is that this is what it

means to proclaim the greatness of God to declare the excellencies of God that

is that we are sprinkling God's gospel grace which is the blood of Jesus Christ

the the gift of eternal life where we go we're sprinkling this good news and it

is the blood that brings forth life it is the blood that redeems thing that

sanctifies this is a blood that makes whole that which was torn apart and so

Peter is saying you have been elect and chosen by God to go about sprinkling

this blood to give hope where there is no hope

and I think back to the Old Testament sacrifices when the priests would dip

that his branch into the blood and he would sprinkle the people and he was

sprinkle blood on a home that had was declared leprous and that had been

cleaned in order for someone to live in that home the blood had to be sprinkled

on it first so that it would be holy and that was a good thing and that someone

who was declared unclean and unfit had the blood sprinkled and they were

declared holy and righteous and God is giving us the chance to change the world

by sharing the good news sprinkling of the blood there's healing through the

blood the priesthood so this is the last image just the final points that I want

to bring out I'm gonna make sure what I'm doing with time it's excuse me a

second I want to make sure that I am NOT I'm good yep so this gets us to the

final image the priesthood and there's a great deal that we could talk about with

the priesthood and I would encourage you to go back and read in the Old Testament

you know those sections you don't like to read because they're kind of boring

about all the rules and everything and think about how well this obviously

points toward Jesus Christ every Old Testament image of the priest it's there

to share with us something about Jesus Christ and the work of Jesus Christ the

book of Hebrews makes that abundantly clear but it also tells us a little bit

about our calling because we are also royal priesthood we are of that royal

priesthood and you'll see as you read through the Old Testament that the

priests spoke for the people and this priest

spoke to the people from God and that this priest spoke words of truth and

sometimes it wasn't welcome truth you have leprosy you can't live with your

family any longer and then sometimes it was words of truth that were wonderful

you are clean go in peace your sins are forgiven go in peace

your father has accepted your sacrifice go in peace be healed

behold go in peace and so as priests we have that opportunity to do that we have

the opportunity to heal and to restore you are a royal priesthood this is a

long quote for Martin Luther so I didn't get the short quote I should have done

this short quote this is a long quote and we're not gonna read through all of

this quote it's it's in your in your page it's in your handout in its

entirety it is so powerful but I think because it's so long people don't don't

take time to read through it but it is very powerful as Luther describes how we

imitate Christ in incarnation or living so what I'm advocating as a good form of

evangelism to bring it to bring this into what's practical incarnation alleve

angel' ISM incarnation a' living and I've had several people say well you

know that where is it you where do you get that out where that's a strange term

you know Christ was God incarnate well Martin Luther actually came up with the

idea and he's describing it here in this freedom of the Christian he's describing

incarnation evangelism incarnation of witness and it's lengthy and so it

doesn't get a lot of quotation because you really do need to read it in context

I'm gonna skip through a section of it because you know he can be very succinct

into the point and then sometimes Luther is what time am I supposed to be done

I'm in QA right now so read through this section that's where I'm gonna end read

through this section but what Luther is saying is I thought you said you're fine

and so I was like I've got another ten minutes okay

read through this section here and you will see that while Luther is saying is

he is saying to us that just as Christ took on human flesh take on the the

flesh and blood of your neighbor be a be a neighbor to your neighbor and be a

part of their life a part of your community

and share Jesus as you love your neighbor and it's a very powerful

section especially to you know toward the end where he ties it all together

and even says just as Christ took on flesh to take on your sin your

brokenness take on the flesh of your neighborhood your community your

neighbor to take on their sin to be Jesus to them

that's what evangelism is about that's what the rescue is about being Jesus qat

any questions none any questions clarifications even have mics that will

come around I see Mike over here great one second Paul thank you I guess the

question for me is after we've kind of identified the improper ways of

evangelism what's your method what's your approach can you put that in a way

that is practical I'm a I'm a clergy so I'm registering with you on all this

stuff what I'm saying in terms of our congregations what's your approach

there's a story told about DL Moody somebody came up to him and said I don't

like the way you evangelize your evangelism method mr. moody and he said

well what's your method he says well I don't have one this is what I like my

method better than your not method yes yeah yes so incarnation evangelism is

the method I encourage and and Greg Finke to be honest that's what he's

gonna be talking about so I'm kind of setting him up he can pay me some money

extra money back there Greg I'm setting him that's what that's what it's about

being a good neighbor and just waiting for opportunities to share now I do and

there's a good book it's called God's pace and it's on conversational

evangelism I do encourage churches to teach their members conversational

evangelism which is just taking opportunities to share the gospel but

within context of a conversation so it is not a speech that I've

prescribed but it is a conversation using good questions not to direct and

manipulate the conversation but actually you know when you're a good neighbor to

somebody and you're and you're living out your Christian faith they they ask

questions and how do I take that opportunity to share the gospel so God

spaced by Pollack beginning of his first name but that's a very good resource to

teach this dr. Casper Todd thank you very much for your presentation

as I look back in my in my life the the model of bringing someone to a decision

dialogue evangelism or a Kennedy what that what that did for me was at that

time in my life really gave me what is the gospel yes and I think maybe there's

a there's a question before the question do our people know the gospel I mean

they they trust in Christ I'm not saying that they don't get that but but there

is a transaction that takes place when when someone becomes a child of God has

worked about this holy spirit but but what is that transaction it's relational

it's it's judgment set free it's all those things how do we speak to that and

how do we help our people say okay this is how God wants to set people free

how do I communicate that in my relationships with them yeah very good

good coming yes there's one way in back one more question that we'll have a

break I just puts a little pressure on you

Randy okay well I on the concept of the elect I was unsure what that meant

because I was taught we don't believe in once saved always saved

all right so you could lose your salvation but someone told me about

election is you are a believer you've been a believer

truly believe and accept Christ as your Savior and now you are Alzheimer or old

and dementia yeah or for whatever reason you're you

you aren't in the right frame of mind and you can say or your family can be

comforted in knowing that you are part of the elect because you were a believer

and we get caught up with with election but being a member of the elect yep

very good appreciate it thank you okay Thank You Todd thank you very much

appreciate thank you

Was Moses Jewish? - Duration: 6:58.

Moses leading his people through the Red Sea is one of the most familiar stories

in Western culture.

Foundational to two of the most influential religions on earth, Judaism and Christianity.

However, one must pause and ask-Was Moses Really Jewish?

Certain aspects of this epic tale, the Ten plagues of Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea

and Moses descending from the top of Mount Sinai with tablets of stone etched with the

Ten Commandments in hand, are familiar details for most.

However, if you were to read through the account of the Exodus in the King James version of

the Bible you may be surprised to find one term missing.

The word Jew along with Jews, or Jewish, is nowhere to be found in the book of Exodus.

This leaves us with our initial question-Was Moses Jewish?

In searching for an answer, we must first ask the question-What Is a Jew?

While this can be a hotly debated topic, we'll divide it into the two primary categorizations.

Jew can refer to both an ethnic group and to a religion.

While the two are not mutually exclusive, I must point out that they are not co-dependent

either.

There are many Jews who consider themselves Jews by way of heritage and birth, but have

no hesitation when it comes to eating bacon or working on the Sabbath-they are not observant

of the religion bearing the name Jewish, some going so far as to reject religion altogether.

Conversely, there are many out there who have no history of Judaism in their family, yet

have converted to the Jewish faith.

Let's look at these two items-ethnicity and religion and see where Moses may fit.

Ethnicity: At first this may seem quite straightforward-of course Moses was a Jew.

You may even answer my earlier statement that the book of Exodus does not use the word Jew

by stating that Jew and Israelite are synonymous.

Perhaps we could go with that, were the King James Version never to use the term Jew.

However, it does.

This may come as a surprise, the first use of the term Jew comes from the book of 2nd

Kings where it reads: "Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel

came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.

At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath;

and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day" (2 Kings, 16:5-6, KVJ)

Jew and Israelite cannot be synonymous if they were at war with each other!

What is going on here?

According to the Bible, the ancient nation of Israel consisted of 12 territorial tribes

as well as a 13th tribe which served as priests throughout the nation.

These 13 tribes were named for eleven sons of their patriarch Jacob, with the greater

allotment for Jacob's favourite son Joseph being divided between Joseph's two sons, Ephraim

and Manasseh.

Judah-from which we get the term Jew-was only one of these tribes and Moses was not of the

tribe of Judah, but of the priestly tribe of Levi.

These tribes were first united under a central monarchy by King Saul who was then succeeded

by David and then Solomon.

After Solomon's death, when their request for tax reform was rejected, ten of the tribes

separated themselves into what scripture calls The House of Israel.

The tribe of Judah along with Benjamin and many of the Levites formed The House of Judah.

It is in this context that we see the House of Israel-the Israelites-at war with the House

of Judah-the Jews.

Eventually, the House of Israel was deported by the Assyrians.

You can learn more about what happened to these tribes by viewing a three-part series

of Tomorrow's World telecasts which we have linked to in the description below.

However, the tribe of Judah, and those who joined themselves to Judah became known as

Jews.

While Moses was a Levite, the Levites are never referred to as Jews until after this

separation of Israel and Judah, several hundred years after the Exodus.

Ethnically, Moses was NOT a Jew!

What about religiously?

He implemented the faith given to him by God on the top of Mount Sinai-didn't he?

This faith is what gave rise to the faith called Judaism today.

While many view the events at Mount Sinai as the establishment of Judaism, it is important

to note that many of the laws given at Sinai had already been established earlier in Scripture

and that much of what is today considered Jewish law, such as the Talmud, was established

long after Sinai.

A 2015 article in The Jerusalem Post asks the same questions we are evaluating today-Was

Moses Jewish?

It's conclusion is given in the opening line: "Well, according to the Orthodox Rabbinout

in Israel, the answer is: 'Definitely not'" The article's conclusion: "Moses is not aware

of modern traditions, Moses did not study even a little bit of the Talmud, Moses did

not acknowledge or accept rabbinical authority...Well, it's clear: Moses was NOT a Jew."

To define the codification of the law which took place at Sinai as the establishment of

Judaism and to declare Judaism as the religion of the Old Testament is to restrict the many

pre-existing laws as applying to Judaism rather than the universal laws they really are.

Genesis 2 verses 2 and 3 record the creation of the Sabbath day, long before "Remember

the Sabbath day, to keep it Holy" was etched on a tablet of stone.

Genesis 7 verse 2 makes clear that Noah knew the difference between clean and unclean animals,

long before the Torah was written.

When blessing Abraham in Genesis 26, God outlines several reasons for lavishing such abundant

blessings on him.

Why, "because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes,

and My laws" (vs 5).

All this, before the existence of the first Jew!

So, was Moses Jewish?

He was not Jewish ethnically or religiously.
