Namaskar. Welcome to www.mrunalinee.com

Today we will make a healthy drink

Which is called Ghola dahi ( Odia ) or Buttermilk

Before starting the recipe, I would like to tell that

Since a month , I was unable to upload any videos due to my health issue

Now onwards , I will try to upload videos as many as possible

During these days also I have got a lot of comments and mails from my viewers to know about the next video updates

So, I hope you all will like it

If you enjoy this recipe don't forget to like , share and comment

Let's start today's recipe

We need all these ingredients for making this dish

Thick yogurt / curd / Dahi - 1 cup

Ginger slice - 1 ( Small )

Green chilli - 1 ( Small )

Fresh coriander leaves

Rock salt / Black salt

Roasted cumin powder

And white salt

Let's start making Ghola dahi or buttermilk

Take a blending jar

Put fresh coriander leaves, ginger and green chilli in it

Then add 1-2 tsp water and grind it coarsely

Like this

** Do not blend it very finely **

Blend it like I have shown to get a nice flavour while drinking

Put 1 cup curd in it

Add a little roasted cumin powder - 1/4 tsp

Add 1/2 tbsp black salt or add according to your taste

Add white salt as per your taste

Grind it for 30 sec

Consistency of Ghola dahi should be very thin

To make it thin we need more water in it

** Always use the same container in which you have measured the curd **

Here I have added 1½ cup water

Or you can add the required water in it

Like this

** Here I have added 1½ cup chilled water in it **

It is done now

Pour it to the serving glass

Sprinkle a little roasted cumin powder on top of it to get a very nice flavour

Healthy Ghola dahi or Buttermilk is ready to serve now

Serve it chilled

So make and enjoy this chilled drink in this Summer

You can also serve it with any meal in any season

A CREEPY HOUSE(Paranormal Activity) | 곤지암같은 소름끼치는 경험 | 국제커플 [Eng] - Duration: 16:11.

You're making me no more space to sit. kkk

Good afternoon. I'm Jay. I'm from Korea.

She's my fiance, Lina. She's from Polandia.

We're in Karimun Jawa Island.

We come to have holiday here.

For about 8 days.

We're going to share our story.

It's like...

Just

our

style...

Haa~

-English is... -Difficult.

Hahahah

Yesterday our accommodation owner recommended this beach.

That's why we discovered this place and come to visit here today.

-It was opened (private island)

That building was a hotel back then.

But it was abandoned.

That's why it more feels like an adventure.

Looks like a creepy house.

Yeah. A creepy house...like in Lombok...

Goosebumps.

Do you want to say about that creepy house in Lombok??

-It's very a long story. -Yeah.

But it was interesting.

Actually I didn't believe about real ghost.

-Yeah right.

But... kkkk (What actually happened?)

It made me goosebumps... (what actually happened that day?)

-We had experience about exorcism(?). -Exorcism?

-Isn't it exorcism?? -No.

-Paranormal activity. -Yeah. It's the best words for it.

I'm still goosebumps.

-It was a good accommodation. -Nice, too.

Because there is only one house on the hill.

And we enjoyed the accommodation during day.

But, at night!!

It feels weird.

Yeah. We kinda felt the presents of something.

We felt someone were looking at us.

You especially had such experiences like that several times, didn't you?

Yeah. I several times had feeling that someone was looking at us.

And... the most... (it makes me more goosebumps whenever I think about it)

hard situation to understand was...

the time when we wanted to go home..

we found something.

On the wall.

The day we were going back home.

After loaded all the beggages...

and said goodbye to the owner, we went to car, but then ...

Jay was surprised.

He could not say anything for awhile.

-What's wrong??

We were frozen seeing this, what did actually happen...

-Goosebumps... -Oh my God...

- How can ... -I do not know either.

...

- Mouse can't climb wall, right??

-Did a lizard do that??

Something creepy was happened.

This is the chocolate bar that I bought on Valentine day.

But at night there was noisy from this thing.

So I thought the mouse took it.

How could it move to this place...

Is this possible?

It's even new.

Our chocolate ...

This house is... a real ghost house...

I was really scared. Slightly in the evening ...

I felt like in 'Paranormal Activity'.

It was really scary. I did not sleep well in the evening.

I heard a lot of strange sounds at night.

It was really creepy.

-How...

You really need a lot of effort to do this.

I know...

And it's weird. It's really high.

And the walls are flat. There is nothing to climb.

Why is it here? There is another bigger hole.

It 's really weird.

Creepy.

If this was a mouse,

it would be a really small mouse.

How small mouse could climb with this heavy chocolate.

- And he did not even eat it. - Oh yeah ...

Like he had another purpose.

- It's weird. - I have no idea what happened.

But actually every night, I felt uncomfortable here.

With the weird sounds, and something else...

It felt like there was a real ghost living here...

How about you ??

When I was downstairs, when I tried to sleep on the first floor...

- You said you often saw some shadows. -Yeah.

- What was that? -I do not know.

I thought it was a dream because I was so tired.

- So goosebumps now. - I thought you were awaken.

I didn't know whether I should go upstairs or not.

I heard someone on stairs few times.

Creepy ... I just slept.

...

-I never wake up. -Never??

- I have never walked.

You didn't wake up to drink??

-You didn't? -Never. I did not.

What?????

-No way. -Really.

I didn't wake up until then you touched me here.

..what??

Because... (speechless)

- I never... - It was not about the stairs.

Because stairs sometimes make noises and it's normal because it made from wood.

- But I clearly heard. -In the kitchen on the 1st floor ??

-No! 2nd floor!! -2nd floor?? (the place where Jay slept)

We had a milk can. (on the floor next to the bed)

- And somebody tried to drink it. -Really?

It was moving. It was different sound.

And how could this thing move here??

(Couldn't say anything because of these unrealistic situations)

- Did not you wake up to drink? -Not at all.

I heard it clearly.

So I thought you were awaken up.

And I could hear sounds that came from the stairs.

But you know I never wake up to drink water.

Just when I want to go to the toilet.

I never drink because I will get pee.

-Oh, my God...

It is really like a movie 'Paranormal Activity' ...

- It's really weird. -Right.

Let's get out of here now.

Everyone... There is always an eerie story from this kind of cottage.

I can't believe it.

But I really wanted to leave this place soon.

- Because I feel weird... - You said you were uncomfortable.

Because of the weird sounds and weird feeling...

It felt like someone was looking at me.

Someone looking at you ?? Oh my goodness...

I was fine last night, i didn't wake up. I just woke up at 5 in the morning.

But on the first day I got up so often.

And we heard the chocolate bar was moving very clearly.

It was so loud.

- And it happened twice ... -Right.

(The chocolate bar was moved from the floor beside the bed to the first floor)

How it was taken outside?

This is really big and long.

You need a lot of effort to take it and place it.

It doesn't make sense.

-How about you pull out it from there? -No.

- Shall we try? Or just go? - Let's just go.

I really can not explain it to you guys.

I really liked this house.

I felt so scary at night. To be honest.

So I couldn't sleep well.

I could hear the sounds from the first floor.

Sounds like someone was moving.

I though it was because the house was made from wood so I could hear such noisy.

When Lina slept on the first floor,

she told me that I kept walking down the stairs. (I have never been doing such a thing.)

She said also I tried to drink water. (There is no such thing ever.)

Lina keeps looking a clue.

Do you want to find a clue?

I'm just looking for holes.

(Lina was wondering how the chocolate bar was moved from inside to the outside of the house)

But there is nothing. really...

It's really weird. Why here?

- You found a hole? - I'm trying.

-Here... - But this is a ground not inside.

(We decided to leave)

We need to get out of here soon.

I feel not so good.

Ah~ that chocolate bar. It moved out from the 2nd floor.

It was scary because

when we were sleeping, we heard some sounds.

- It was very loud. - I was really loud.

We put the chocolate bar on the floor next to the bed.

- We were trying to go sleep. - We heard some sounds.

And the sound was really loud and lasted a long time. (The sound was coming from the plastic that was moving from the side to the first floor)

And the sound was like someone pulling something??

Someone was trying to open that chocolate bar.

-Before that~ - Before that what ???

They took the chocolate bar from the bed to the stairs.

That's right. It was like sliding on the floor but it was really rapidly and loud.

We can't move something so fast without sound,

it was dragged from the side of the bed to the stairs and just dropped there.

- I thought it was because of the wind. From the fan. -Right.

- And I thought it was empty. -That's right. So easy to fly.

But after I checked it out...

It was a new chocolate bar.

It's really heavy ...

The wind cannot move it to the 1st floor...

And we thought maybe it was a mouse.

But we did not hear anything else.

We only heard a chocolate bar being moved.

It was not once.

The second time was the sounds that coming from the stairs. (right next to us.)

But it's really heavy. I do not think mouse can do that.

- Actually, we wanted to believe that the mouse did that. -Right.

Even if it was a mouse, it didn't make sense.

The chocolate bar was next to us.

Right. It's not typical of animals to get so close to the human.

We wanted to make some noise by hitting the floor to scare them.

But it came again.

If you still didn't believe to our story or other scary experience,

this is really not make sense.

Last thing.

The chocolate bar on the wall.

The walls were made of stone and had some gaps between.

And the chocolate bar was in a really high position.

- Like this. - It was put into the gap.

- And it was new. - Right.

Yeah ... kkk

- I tried to find out why. - We just got out from that place.

And talked about it in the car.

Still it didn't make sense.

If you have opinion about this, you can leave comment below.

It's really the most weird experience in my life.

We really thought that was a mouse.

Because the chocolate was gone the next day.

We though that some mouses just took and ate our chocolate bar.

But the next morning, the whole chocolate bar was on the wall ...

- Animals can't do that. - That's high ... it's impossible.

They don't have such a power to put in the gaps.

Okay.

If you have some ideas or opinions about this story,

you can leave it in comment.

We talked about Karimun Jawa and Lombok at once. kkkk

(Some cute moments in Lombok)

On the way back home we met a small puppy.

We could not just pass by, so we stopped for awhile.

Line moves that cute puppy to the more safe place.

- (local children) Hello ~ - Hey.

But the puppy come back to Lina. kkk

See you next time~ Bye~

Unusual Attitudes - MzeroA Flight Training - Duration: 5:04.

[Music]

Hey everyone, Jason Schappert here

MzeroA.com alongside our director of maintenance, Russell Loving,

Russ is going to be my student today, we're going to show spatial disorientation, recovery from an unusual attitude

is what we're after, there's two ways instructors do it, and I'm going to show you

both ways, and why I favor one over the other. Russ if want to get those Foggles

on I'll fly the airplane for a second here. "Your flight controls," "I have the flight controls," "You got the flight controls,"

Alright all looking good, let you get adjusted.

for a second here, everything good? Yup "I got the flight controls," "Alright you have the flight controls,"

I got the flight controls. Alright, great, so this is how I do it first, now I always

situate, and Russ you're just flying the airplane along here, just hold this heading here, that's fine

altitude's great 130, 3,500 feet everything looks great here. Alright,

how I typically work with students here on this is

I want you to induce

yourself into spatial disorientation, because that's how it's really going to happen, the second method we

do where instructors kind of just fly the airplane around, and then say recover, well that's a little different.

What I like to do is this. So, Russ I want you to close

your eyes and put your chin to your chest, but continue to fly the airplane.

And just keep flying the airplane, I'll be your eyes outside, we've already done clearing turns. Everything's all good,

don't you worry about it, eyes closed, chin to your chest.

Russ, i want you to give me what you think is just a standard rate turn to the left,

please, just a standard rate turn, good thing you know your left from right,

we're off to a good start so far, nice standard rate turn.

to the left, okay Russ, give me what you think is a standard rate climbing

right turn, alright.

Everything's looking good, again, this is why I do it this way, because you would be flying

the airplane, you would be putting yourself in this situation. You guys are all watching this, going I told him

to do a climbing right turn, and you're all looking and laughing right now as to where we're going.

Russ, is probably laughing right now, too, because he has no idea where we are going.

So, as we continue this, Russ, why don't you give me a descending left turn?

Russ, go ahead and recover.

We're nose down, power comes back, power comes back and we,

smoothly bring that on up.

Nice work here, a little different, huh, Russ?

Yes, I thought we were actually in a cliimb. I was well aware,

that's what you thought, go ahead and give it power Russ, on this recovery.

Nice work here, Alright.

Now, we're going to do it a different way here, this is how it's typically done. Where,

the instructor induces the spatial disorientation, so Russ,

if I could have the flight controls for a second, please. Alright you have the flight controls. I have the flight controls.

You've got the flight controls. Alrighty, let's see, so Russ, you're just going to

it's like monkey see monkey do, you're just going to do what I say here.

Ready? So, just let me double check the area, since we've spun around here a little bit.

So Russ, still eye closed, chin to your chest.

We're just flying around here straight and level. Russ,

when I say go, I want you to put your left ear to

your left shoulder. Alright. Ready, go.

And you see now I'm inducing Russ, and you see what I'm doing with

the inner ear. You see why I'm having Russ move his head around here, instructors like this

because instructors like whipping the airplane around and messing with their student's heads.

Instructors are strange people some times, right?

Anyways, why this is all happening, allowing some of that fluid to stabilize

in Russ's inner ear, as we come around. Russ, when I say go,

I want you to go ahead and take your right ear to your right shoulder.

Ready, Go. Wheeeew!

Ever been upside down Russ, before? No, wow. You just did it real quick, there,

alright and we're coming around here,

that will mess with your head a little bit, huh, Russ? Yes it will. Alright Russ, when I say

Go, I want you to very carefully put the back of your head

to the back of the seat. Ready, Go.

And Russ, your airplane.

Recover. Huh, whew! There you go.

There you go, good job. How'd that feel?

That was, for a second, I thought I was tumbling, that is crazy!

That is the purpose of it. Two different ways to practice spatial

disorientation. Doesn't matter which you use,

both as you saw were quite effective. But i encourage to use both

what's going to happen in the real world? You're going to fly yourself into that spatial

disorientation, so that's what I want really think about. So, listen, can't

wait to read your comments below this video, on facebook, on YouTube, on MzeroA.com

Be FEARLESS! - Motivation Video For Studying - Duration: 10:27.

you are unusually fearless and willing to go in the face of other people

telling you something that's crazy and I know a lot of pretty crazy people

you still stand out where does that come from or how do you think about making a

decision when everyone tells you this is a crazy idea where do you get the

internal strength to do that well first of all I'd say that I actually think

I feel feel fear quite strongly so it's not as though I just have the absence of

fear I've I feel it quite strongly but yeah there are times when if something

is important enough you believe in it enough that you do you do it in spite of

fear so speaking of important things like people shouldn't think I should

think well I feel fear about this and therefore I shouldn't do it it's normal

to be to feel fear like you'd have to definitely something mentally wrong with you

if you shouldn't feel fear so you just feel it and let the importance of it drive you

to do it anyway yeah you know actually there's something that can be helpful is

fatalism some degree if you just think it's just accept the probabilities then

that diminishes fear so when I started SpaceX I thought the odds

of success were less than 10% and I just accepted that actually probably I would

just lose lose everything but that maybe would make some progress if we could

just move the ball forward even if we died maybe some other company could pick

up the baton and move and keep moving it forward so that we're still do some good

yeah same with Tesla I thought odds of a car company succeeding were

extremely low it's enough enough enough like living by somebody else's rules is

a humongous mistake I just literally sat down with five people under the age of

27 and it's so refreshing it is so refreshing if you have not jumped on the

bandwagon of doing exactly what you want to do which is scheme for next three

years or working at a job that's not what your parents want or what society

wants this video is just called enough enough make this little in one two

minute video depends on when I finish the piece of content that gets you to

stand up and take life by its throat do something stop being scared stop letting

the way you were raised the fear as an offense take that away let me be the

person I'll take the blame I loved that some of my employees are like my parents

don't love what you're saying good parents because if you are playing

defense and if you are living a life where your kids lives are the way you're

being fulfilled you're a loser parents and so enough enough parents imposing their

way you want your kids to be happy on your terms enough the kid that's sitting

right now at a desk and saw this in a feed and you hate your job

enough! stand up get the f out of here and do you live your life you've got one

life do something about it you've said what makes you different makes you great

where does that advice come from that you when you talk to people well I mean

I think that the most obvious one really obviously is being a girl um so when I

was younger and like living in England and kind of early teen years I don't

think I I didn't care that I was a girl I just didn't want to make it real

obvious I mean I didn't want it to stand out you know I didn't wear nail polish

cuz when I talk about the racecar I didn't want guy them looking at my hands

and seeing pink fingernails you know I didn't you know wear pink and purple and

make it really flashy and obvious no hearts and bows and you know just kind

of wanted to blend in and having my seven-year-old daughter

am I really hearts and bows or didn't want to wear her she's now rejecting

them but she was all in them so well you know you go through these phases where

you feel comfortable and sometimes you don't and I didn't really feel

comfortable making it obvious and so so it really was I came back from England

when I was 19 and you know I I let myself kind of go there to be a girl a

little bit and it really came from a kind of racy photo shoot that I did that

it was more girly of me and it just all of a sudden it stuff started happening

and people were contacting me and sponsors and teams and it just but

nobody questioned what I could do you know it wasn't like people didn't

didn't think I could race or their opinion really changed on that maybe

they had opinion on what I did but it didn't change the opportunity to be able

to do what I wanted to do it just really was opening doors and it was allowing it

you know it was me being able to tap into something that was part of my

personality I mean I think we were not one-dimensional people we have all kinds

of different sides to us we're not you know I don't just race and I don't just

work on cars I you know I race and I like to cook and I like to travel and I

like to look pretty and I like to get dressed up and I like hair and makeup

and I like all those other things so it was kind of a way for me to it was an

extension of me and but it was celebrated so it just came to you as you

embraced who you are exactly so you know sometimes I really feel that whatever it

is it's the most different about you is probably the most important and the most

special and the most useful I think the one thing that discipline definitely

does help you with is it it helps you get things done

and when you get things done when you actually do things you have more

success if you have more success sometimes a big part of success is just

not being lazy and just doing it yeah just get that's like 90% of it is just

showing up get there and start working like you're not gonna feel perfect every

day if I felt if I only worked out when I felt good I'd be a fat f because

there's a lot of days I don't want to do it if it's pretty much the same with

everybody that if that actually gets good at something that you you get

there's got to be those days you push through and they're them they're

probably gonna be more numerous than the days you don't and so the benefit of

discipline in my eyes has always been that through discipline I get things

done I always say that I'm like the most lazy disciplined person I know

because I don't want to do it yeah but I always do I try and read 2 or 3 books a week and for me what I make

realized very early on and it's a little bit clearer for me because I work in

book publishing and I'm a writer but like I consider reading to be like part

of my job so like and that was actually somewhat weird when I was working full

time in America like I would want to sit there and like

read a book but you like can't do that at an office you know but so now I work

from home so I can sort of do I can arrange my day in a way that like

appearances matter a little bit less but I think you know reading but what I what

I say is like okay look chances are whatever problem you're going through

right now someone else went through before you and they probably wrote it

down and so like books are the way that we we access that knowledge and if

you're not availing yourself to it you're gonna learn a lot of things the

hard way when you don't necessarily need to so I consider like leading to be like

part of my job and part of what's accelerated what I've been able to

accomplish and I just so it's like when people are like oh how do you have time

how do you have so much time to read it's like well how do you have time to

sleep and how do you have time to eat and go to work like that's just what you

do it's not like this extra luxury that I squeeze in when I'm on vacation yeah

that was gonna be one of my questions head yes that yeah time to read so

there's no secret and like I don't read fast like I think a lot of people think

that people who read a lot must be like speed readers and so they focus on that

it's like no people read a lot just spend a lot of time reading because it's

important to them and that's sort of the distinction that I mean people do a lot

of talking and most people don't put in the effort there's nothing you can't

accomplish in life with the right amount of work the challenge is you know are

you willing to do the work and the reality is most people aren't but that's

the opportunity right is I mean it's like people you know at school

most people are lazy right they just they barely get through it and and so

that creates opportunity I tell my kids that a if they want something they're

gonna have to earn it yeah and B if they don't work hard

enough to earn it I'm gonna sell them off as medical experiments that's the

line in our house right I'm gonna sell you up good

you need money okay we'll set you off as a medical experiment we can get you

money that way give blood dad I'm seven I don't care so I'm gonna go hard no

matter what cuz I gotta feed my family yeah and I gotta feed myself and I'm not

and if you notice on my snap I'm trying to make it super clear when I get

something to eat it costs money to eat right but you got to pay the bill like

if it's a cheeseburger that's five dollars it's five dollars if it's a flaming yarn

it's 35 dollars you know God forbid you want a lobster and this is food guess

what and I try to tell the young world I don't know why they not telling them

yeah costs money to eat right right I guess what you got to do you gotta get

money see you know it makes me mad at people who try to discourage people from

getting money like it's a problem I didn't create the system like yeah if it

was free I would thank you you're saying and then so what I'm trying to say is we

have to hustle we have to get money like you know teach the young world

work hard strive hard it's okay I remember when I

was young they told me Khalid you only gonna get a Hyundai so I went and bought

a phantom no dude I'm saying like yours I'll try and tell you like that's what

I'm saying if you wanna wear dope sneaker what's wrong with wearing a dope sneaker

it would cost money okay right great work hard like what they don't

want us to wear dope sneakers they don't that's it and that's the that's the

major key they don't want us to so i'm then you know straight up they don't

want big boy to have the number one morning show in the country yes a black

guess what we got the number one show in the country

Home repair pro or handyman: Which should you choose? - Duration: 0:49.

Welcome to the HomeServe Hints Blog.

When faced with the home repair, the one question that needs immediate attention is do I hire

a local handyman or repair pro.

And generally speaking, a handyman should be able to fix simple problems, like swapping

out electrical fixtures or clearing clogged sinks.

And jobs that seem more in-depth, fixing lights that frequently dim, burst interior water

pipes, or heating issues, will likely require a repair pro.

If a problem falls between these extremes, some quick research can help you determine

the best course of action.

Home repair plans from HomeServe are a smart investment for homeowners wanting assistance

in the case of future unexpected emergencies.

Thanks for watching.

Celebrity New : Steven Spielberg says Netflix movies don't deserve Oscars - Duration: 3:10.

Steven Spielberg says Netflix movies don't deserve Oscars Steven Spielberg doesnt think Netflix movies deserve an Academy Award.

The 71-year-old four-time Academy Award winner has argued that the film and TV streaming site should not be able to win any of the coveted golden statuettes as he believes it has committed to a television format.

He told ITV News: Once you commit to a television format, youre a TV movie. You certainly, if its a good show, deserve an Emmy, but not an Oscar.

I dont believe films that are just given token qualifications in a couple of theatres for less than a week should qualify for an Academy Award nomination..

This year, Dee Rees Netflix movie Mudbound was nominated for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay,

Best Cinematography and Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards despite only having a one-week cinema release in New York and Los Angeles.

Spielberg isnt the only filmmaker to slam the streaming site after Inception helmer Christopher Nolan criticized Netflix for not releasing its own movies in cinemas.

The 47-year-old filmmaker admitted that he doesnt understand why the streaming site doesnt send its own exclusive movies to cinemas.

Speaking to Indiewire, Nolan said: Netflix has a bizarre aversion to supporting theatrical films.

They have this mindless policy of everything having to be simultaneously streamed and released, which is obviously an untenable model for theatrical presentation.

So theyre not even getting in the game, and I think theyre missing a huge opportunity. And Nolan believes Netflix is used as a kind of way to shut down cinemas.

He said: I think the investment that Netflix is putting into interesting filmmakers and interesting projects would be more admirable if it werent being used as some kind of bizarre leverage against shutting down theatres.

Its so pointless. I dont really get it..

iGen by Jean Twenge | Stuff You Like 168 - Duration: 6:39.

this is stuff you like and the youth of today well there are highs and lows

we're looking at iGen by Jean Twenge today and the books full title is iGen why

today's super connected kids are growing up less rebellious more tolerant less

happy and completely unprepared for adulthood asterisk and what that means

for the rest of us so first I have to say that this is a very American book

because Twenge is a researcher and all of the data she uses is from American

surveys and that makes it a really focused book and that's kind of nice she

doesn't talk a lot about what other countries are doing but that's because

she doesn't have the data on it iGen is about young people in the United

States today people born from about 1995 onwards how they differ from their

parents and grandparents at the same ages and how we can help them with the

problems that their parents and grandparents didn't have as a book I

like iGen because it's informative it's easy to read and it doesn't moralize it

doesn't blame it doesn't tell you that all of the problems that iGen are

having are the kids fault or the parents fault or societies fault or I don't know

somebody's fault. Twenge tells you what she sees in the generational data and

then she offers some suggestions to improve the problems and those

suggestions are not particularly controversial ones for example higher

rates of depression are bad and so here are some ways that we might fix it: get

off your phone and go to sleep no I mean it should you be asleep right

now I will still be here in the morning if you should you can put the phone down

that is what the watch later' button is for so iGen as a group are less likely

to get pregnant as teenagers they're less likely to binge drink as teenagers

they're less likely to smoke they're less likely to take drugs and all of

these things are good on the other hand their levels of anxiety and depression

as a group are very high. Twenge is a generational researcher and so she

describes the graphs which usually mark the changes between generations as you

know gentle slopes things go up things go down but generally not dramatically

iGen however is nothing if not dramatic so the bulk of the book is a series of

chapters on the main points about iGen and how they differ from their

predecessors they're less rebellious they're less religious they're more

concerned with safety particularly emotional safety (casual sex? Ooh, make

sure not to catch feelings! I'm not sure how you prevent yourself from catching

feelings but there we are. CS Lewis would have a field day.

after all to love at all is to be vulnerable) and iGen are also generally

more emotionally fragile when presented with beliefs that conflict with their

own. Hence all of those generation snowflake cracks in the media I find the chapter

on safety particularly interesting because Twenge draws on a point that she

makes earlier where iGen see childhood as safety and adulthood as scary and

dangerous and linked to campus safe spaces after all safe spaces often

involve childlike elements beanbags puppy videos coloring books and she also

explains how colleges and universities are increasingly having to take on a

more parent like role as mediator between the students iGen may leave

home to go to college but they increasingly seem to want quasi parental

oversight while they're there or even actual parental oversight actually in

March 2016 some Emery University students chalked the words Trump 2016 onto

the footpaths and some other Emery University students responded with a

protest and cries of "you are not listening. Come speak to us

we are in pain" but where can you work that people won't disagree with you

where can you live where can you go how can you be in a relationship with

someone because they're bound to disagree with you on something at some

point possibly even something very fundamental and it's also the case that

iGen are marrying and having children later than their predecessors presumably

by that point they've worked out how to constructively disagree so maybe they're

just getting to it later no I do not assume and nor does Twenge to be fair

that every single iGener is a fainting flower who can't cope with disagreement

but these individual incidents she talks about are often illustrative of the

general trend the general trends being longer childhoods and increased

preference for authority figures to mediate things. in popular imagination

your teenage years are the time your most rebellious when you throw off the

shackles of parental involvement and you do your own thing but that doesn't seem

to be the case for iGen they're dating less in their teens they're having sex

less they're getting drunk less it seems that increasingly those teenage

rebellions are being put off until their late teens or early 20s or maybe they're

just bypassing them entirely the social media stuff that Twenge talks about always

gets the most attention because people like to say that the smartphones are

going to kill us all but it is an important aspect of the book and she presents some

very compelling research that says that too much time spent on a smartphone is

very bad in a number of different ways too much time on social media doesn't

just make you feel more depressed and more anxious it also messes up your

sleep for example which is another thing that will make you more depressed and

more anxious so it's really a vicious circle as to what that means for the

US as a society it remains to be seen and the kids are gonna be alright I'm

sure but if you want to know what Jean Twenge recommends for the worrying

things about iGen well you're probably not going to be very surprised by them

because most of them are really common sense too much use of social media is

not only correlated with depression and anxiety it actively makes it worse so

get off your phone limit the time you spend on it

don't have your phone next to your bed just buy a regular alarm clock there is

no real substitute for spending time with people in person so you should do

that and if you're trying to be a good parent to iGen remember that resilience

and teaching kids independence and self-reliance are as important as

keeping them safe after all at some point they're going to have to learn to

do everything without you may as well be sooner rather than later so have you

read iGen did you agree or disagree with jane Twenge's take on your

generation or the generation below you if you're an old person like I am and if

you're outside the US like me have you seen the same general trends that she

talks about in the US. in your own country and which country is that you

can tell us in the comments and remember that whether you want to agree or

disagree or leave a comment that's entirely unrelated if I see you making

personal attacks on other people they will be deleted because we can disagree

constructively that's a thing that we can do because we're grownups or if

we're not actually all grown-ups we are at least all reasonably emotionally

mature people so thank you for watching if this was your first ever video

welcome you should subscribe if you liked it and want more stuff like this

thank you as always to my patrons who are wonderful and lovely and make this

show possible and regardless I will see you all very soon
