Why do you have to click the Start button to shut down?

Everybody loved asking that question back in Windows 95 when we

added the Start button and there was a shutdown menu option right there

When the Start menu was originally introduced it wasn't called the Start menu

it was called the System menu, for doing System things.

And so it made sense that shutting down is one of the things you do as part of the system.

But the problem with having a System menu was that it wasn't clear what System menu was.

So we would sit people down in front of copy of Windows 95 and they would

Windows 95 would start up and they would just sit there and like

'Nah, I don't know what I'm supposed to do.'

But then somebody got the idea to put the word 'Start' next to the little

Windows logo in the corner on the Start button.

And then people knew like 'Oh, Windows has just finished. I see a button."

"It says Start. I should click it. Oh look here's a bunch of stuff I can do."

And so that's how come that menu ended up being called Start.

So the question is..then the question becomes

Now that its called Start why didn't you take the Shutdown button off of it?

Well, then, where are you going to put it?

Are you going to create a second button?

Is there going to be a Start button and a Shutdown button?

Right there on your taskbar? That's two buttons.

Seems kind of silly.

And besides, if you want to shutdown the computer, everybody sort of learned

whenever you want to do anything, you click Start.

And so you can click the Shutdown button because it's right there on Start.

You want to start shutting down.

On Windows 8, we took the Shutdown button off the Start menu because everyone

kept making jokes about it and then in Windows 8.1 we had to put it back

because nobody knew how to shut down their computer.

Mystery Box Unboxing! You Won't Believe Who Sent Me a Mystery Box! - Duration: 5:19.

You will never believe who sent me this mystery box!

in the past I've done an amazon mystery unboxing and also an ebay mystery unboxing and my grandma felt

very left out and so she sent me this mystery box for me to unbox today in

this video hi grandma

okay guys I have some scissors. if you are a

minor like me make sure you have parents supervision and please be careful

I didn't need the scissors anyway oh wow well we have a note okay my dearest Hashtag Zoe,

here are a few things that you need to make sure you are always prepared for anything

xoxo let's just get started this is what I see first this is my view! there is

some really cute um tissue paper in here so uh so the first thing I see is this

um this is a blow-up microphone I don't I I think this might belong to my cousin

honestly but how am I supposed to survive... this...says survival!

it the next thing I see is wait wait is this like one of those curly things like

for your hair okay well see um in this day and age we use of just curlers

a wand if you don't know what this is I'm pretty sure this is like a curling

set or something and you put it in your hair and wrap your hair around it and

then you let it sit there and then you take it out but this get lost in my hair

so I don't really know what I'm gonna do with this

it's from Conair thanks grandma a survival kit in a sardine can and oh

wait I thought was actual sardines wait it's the actual sardine it's just an

assorted tin can wow there's a tea bag, chewing gum,

compass, sugar, a whistle, a salt packet, energy nugget, duct tape, fire starter cube,

wire clip, fire age-structure, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, waterproof bags,

signal mirror, sync, you can and everything else that you would possibly

need to survive so I think um thank you I probably would have prefered the

beauty survival kit from Sephora but I mean this is cool too

also what the heck is an energy nugget?! the next thing I see in here is a sewing

kit I have no idea how to sew anything so we're gonna move on to the next thing

the next thing I see in here is a nexus moose

plus volumizing mousse travel size also the only thing I can think of that would

relate this to survival would be like my hair would survive the next thing I have

in here isn't toothbrush um actually this is pretty useful like I could I

could use this and survive with it the next thing I've seen here is

honestly pretty lit this is a light okay the next thing in here is some duct tape

I don't know why I wouldn't need duct tape grandma but I feel like if

if I ever need it now I'm said so my grandma gave me emergency so I just have

some raspberry emergen-C, now so I am not sick anymore

the next thing in here to go along with my sickness if I ever get sick I don't

know is some sniff softer tissues with the lips on them the next thing I see is

some band-aids no band-aids in here there is literally nothing in here there

it's an empty band-aid box so I'm this this really can help me survive out in

the wilderness okay the next thing I see is some sunscreen because I can't get

tan anyway so I might as well not burn the last thing in here is just in case I

get cold out on streets but I have an emergency blanket thanks grandma so that

is all the things that my lovely grandma included in my survival kit honestly I'm

gonna hang this up on my wall like this is really cute so thank you grandma for

sending me all these things I'm definitely gonna get lit now thanks so

much for watching I'll see you guys in our next video bye

iPhone X vs Google Pixel 2 XL (2018): Which Should You Buy? - Duration: 5:32.

Hey what's going on people, its HiTech.

And today we're going to be taking a look the iPhone X and the Pixel 2 XL, the flagship

smartphones from Apple and Google.

I've used and reviewed both of these phones, my last video was the Pixel 2 XL review.

So now that I've reviewed them both I wanted to give you guys a comparison of these phones

so that you can get a better idea of which phone would be best for you.

Ok, so first up, let's take a look at how these phones are designed.

Apple and Google took very different approaches when designing these phones.

Starting off with the iPhone X, there is glass on the front and back with a stainless steel

band on the sides.

I absolutely love how this phone feels in the hand.

The weight of it and the smoothness of the rounded corners make it very comfortable to

hold.

This does however, make the phone pretty slippery and I'm always super paranoid when I don't

have it in a case.

Apple claims that the iPhone X has the most durable glass ever in a smartphone.

But I don't really care what Apple says, it's still glass and if you drop it the right way,

it's going to break.

So most of the time I have it in the Rhino shield Modular bumper case.

I'll put a link to the case down in the description in case you want to check it out.

But despite how fragile the iPhone X may or may not be, there is no denying that it's

made of very premium materials and has a high quality build.

My only complaint about it is the ridiculous camera bump.

There is just no reason why it has to be as big as it is.

The Pixel 2 XL on the other hand has an aluminum build with a plastic finish.

Now some people might say that this makes it a bit of a cheap design, but I wouldn't

say that at all.

This phone is very well made and looks really good to me.

And honestly, considering that cost of repairing an iPhone X if you do break the glass, I think

there is a lot to be said for having a design that looks good and is also more durable.

But having said all that, objectively speaking, the iPhone X does have the more premium build

so I'd have to give it to the iPhone X as far as design goes.

Alright now let's take a look at the displays.

I feel like the display is the most important component of any smartphone since you're using

it all the time.

Like I mentioned before in my review, Google went with a pretty sub-par OLED panel made

by LG for the Pixel 2 XL.

It's not the worst display ever, but when you put it next to the iPhone X it's clear

to see that it doesn't get anywhere near as bright and colors just don't look as accurate.

But, the iPhone does have that notch.

In portrait mode I don't notice it at all but in landscape when watching videos in full

screen, it's impossible to ignore.

But the thing is, most content is formatted in the 16:9 aspect ratio.

So to prevent cropping off the video I end up never using fullscreen mode anyway.

Now, with the Pixel 2 XL I don't have to worry about any of this since it doesn't have a

notch.

But I can't overlook how much nicer the iPhone X's display is.

Next up, are the cameras.

Both of these phones have great cameras that have different advantages over each other.

I feel like the Pixel 2 XL's pictures are sharper and have a more crisp look overall.

But the iPhone's color processing is more pleasing to my eye.

Pictures tend to be a bit warmer and have a little more color saturation when compared

to the Pixel 2 XL.

When it comes to portrait mode, the Pixel 2 XL wins hands down.

It's pretty much not even debatable.

The iPhone X has 2x optical zoom on its telephoto lens though.

So you can zoom in without losing as much detail.

As far as video goes, I'd have to give it to the iPhone X since it has the same 2x optical

zoom while shooting video, can record slow-mo video at 1080p up to 240 frames per second,

and can record 4k video at 60 frames per second.

So overall, I'd say for photos I'd pick the Pixel 2 XL.

For videos I'd roll with the iPhone X. Moving on to performance, the A11 Bionic processor

in the iPhone X is definitely a beast and has way more processing power than the snapdragon

835 that's in the Pixel 2 XL.

But honestly, in everyday usage, I really can't tell the difference.

Everything is smooth and fast on both these phones.

And as far as Android vs iOS goes, that's way too much of a personal preference to give

a definitive answer on.

Both operating systems have their pros and cons.

But I will say that there are a lot of features the Pixel 2 XL has that I really wish were

available on the iPhone X.

Such as being able to squeeze the phone to bring up your voice assistant or swiping down

on the fingerprint reader to access your notification shade.

And while we're on the topic of finger print readers, I personally love FaceID on the iPhone

X but using the Pixel 2 XL makes me miss having a finger print reader as an option.

So which phone is better?

Well, that really depends on what's more important to you.

They are both great phones but which one is best is always going to come down to which

one best suits your needs.

Alright, that's gonna wrap up this video, I hope you all enjoyed it.

If you did, go ahead and hit the like button and if you're new to the channel, subscribe

so you don't miss my new videos coming out every week.

This has been Shon from HiTech.

Thanks so much for watching and I'll see you guys later.

Why Writing Scripts Will Actually Save You Time When Producing & Optimizing Videos - Duration: 1:43.

Hi Taylor here with Financial Potion where video is your Financial Potion.

I write a script for everything!

Every video, any borderline scary or intimidating phone call or conversation, I write a script

and today I am going to share why doing this task can really help you save a lot of time

when you're doing you're YouTube optimization.

We post videos every Friday at 5pm Arizona time to help you be more successful in your

own video marketing, please subscribe if you haven't and click on the bell to get notified

when new videos are uploaded.

If you're seeking more one to one training, please check out our Patreon opportunities.

So how can writing a script save you time in the optimization stages?

Well your script can be part 2 of 4 in your description writing.

Instead of having to re-write and explain your video, you can simply copy and paste

your script.

Also when you're corrected your transcriptions, go a head and unpublish the automatic one

and then select the "transcribe & sync" option, copy and paste your script, then click

on "sync".

During that time you can complete other optimization tasks and then just make sure to go back and

click "publish".

So as you can see, although it may take a bit of time to write your scripts, it will

help you during the production, as well as during the YouTube Optimization steps.

I hope this video empowers you to work on your video marketing this weekend and as always,

stay engaging!

Eckhart Tolle Meditation - Part 3 Absorb Your Feelings And ENJOY Them - Duration: 5:07.

and then you can truly taste the Apple and be present but there's always more

than that which you witness there is the witnessing presence who is that what is

that that's you some people call it the I am one person an early 20th century

spiritual teacher Gurdjieff some fuel no smog of self

remembering and really what he meant was to remember who it is that is doing this

or experiencing this or perceiving this not the story based entity not thinking

okay I'm John Smith and I'm eating an apple that's not it no John Smith is

eating an apple at this moment no to sense that which knows that which is

aware that in you that is aware that there is eating in this moment so

there's awareness of something and at the same time self awareness of the

deepest sense of I and so that is in any whether you're eating an apple watching

a tree engaged in some kind of action or activity or watching an inner feeling is

always the manifested and the one could say the unmanifested the recorded

sometimes the background and the foreground in the foreground is

what happens in the background is the field the I am the deepest I am in which

whatever happens is happening now it can happen that the background that what we

call here the background on the ground which we could call being the ground of

being it can happen that that ground is

so intensely felt realized that what is what is occurring one could almost say

is a shift and this is how a deeply awakened being experiences the world and

that shift is what as you are just awakening what is foreground becomes the

background and that's which you perceived as the background as you where

awakening becomes so it's realized in its vastness that that becomes the

foreground in other words your sense of beingness the spacious field of presence

is so vast and all fulfilling that whatever is happening is just a little

sometimes called I call it a ripple on the surface of the ocean is the event

and you feel your own being or being so strongly that that occupies the entire

foreground and any event is a background a little

background event and so that is from that place certain Indian teachers say

the world is unreal it's absurd if we take that elephant as a philosophical

proposition and then start believing in it it doesn't make sense you can claim a

hundred times that the world is unreal but the next moment something happens

and you react so where's the unreality of the world if the world upsets you so

much

Keller Williams New Tampa - New Tampa Real Estate Companies - Duration: 6:34.

Hi everyone. This is your Tampa Bay Realtor Lance Mohr. In this video I

wanted to go over Keller Williams New Tampa I want to talk about Keller

Williams Realty in New Tampa and the statistics that I just saw come out a

few days ago and I have to tell you I was absolutely blown away what I saw so

I thought I would share those with you

so a lot of you know I'm not really into the whole brokerage thing I don't think

it's the end-all be-all I know a lot of agents do I know a lot of agents when

they go talk to sellers about listing their home they come in saying oh this

is what my company does or this is what my brokerage does is this and this is

how big we are and I think there's a certain amount of good for that at the

end of the day you're always hiring the agent you're not hiring the brokerage

but when you do get into these big brokerage firms like Keller Williams

they are a name a recognition and they are a name a trust so a lot of people

like going with so-called I guess the big box companies but the

other day I was looking at statistics and I was specifically looking at him

for New Tampa and I was shocked to see the statistics that Keller Williams New

Tampa had compared to the other brokerage firms so let me just go over

that I mean they did a little screenshot video and show you what I'm talking

about and you know if again if you're buying a home probably not as a big of a

deal but if you are selling a home it does mean something because a

president's in an area again it isn't everything

the agents the vast majority of everything but it's something to look at

and it's something to know about so I'm going to share that with you right now

all right so here's the New Tampa brokerages for 2017 the closed volume

now I have to tell you this data is coming directly from our MLS my Florida

regional MLS so there's nothing funny about it I was real surprised

I saw this I mean here the numbers in the office here are the numbers when

people talk about Keller Williams but I don't really pay any attention to that

you know as a baseline in my business but it is rather shocking in the new

Tampa area just really how much Keller Williams is just annihilating the

so-called competition if you look at the closed volume of what Keller Williams

did and there in red and you take Coldwell Berkshire Ford executive Remax

in Casa FINA and put them all together there about what Keller Williams did

there just a little bit more and if you look at him individually and you look at

what Keller Williams is doing to coldwell I mean they're just crushing

them the berkshire hathaway - Remax I mean it's just like it's their failing

models a lot of these other models out there and I don't mean to be blunt by

saying that but it's sort of been known in the industry you know especially when

we went through the recession so let's look at a couple of the other numbers if

you look in the dark red maybe the burgundy if you will this is the seller

side closing and in the lighter color red it's the buyer side closing so you

can see what Keller Williams is doing compared to these other companies

they're just crushing them then a lot of people will say oh well Keller Williams

they just have a lot of agents well first off pretty much every office has a

lot of agents whether it's Keller Williams remac Berkshire Caldwell etc so

look at this right here agent the producing agents look at the

difference I mean it's it's more than double of Berkshire Hathaway in Coldwell

Banker I mean it's this again this was really surprising to me down here you'll

see the source is my Ford original MLS so a lot of times agents go out and go

on listing presentations and they talk about how great their company is why you

need to list with them and that's really why I did this is because these are the

numbers and the numbers know why when our agents in our

let's go out and they tell you how great the company is and we're such a thriving

company out there it's because we are and quite frankly the other brokerages

firms just can't say that in when it comes to the new tampa market and so

really surrounding areas there's basically keller williams new tampa then

everybody else so i hope this gives you a little little perspective i guess as

far as closed volume and just you know see you can see what's really going on

in the market okay so i don't say this with any malice it's just for years I've

always heard all these companies going out insane we're number one we do all

this business and they're telling there's sales representatives when they

go out and listings you know how great they are and if they work with them now

I just wanted to show you the numbers I wanted to show you what's really going

on if you're in the new Tampa area the Wesley Chapel area I mean there's pretty

much one company and then there's everybody else if you're looking at

listening you're out so if you have if you have any questions at all don't

hesitate to give me a call if you like this video give me a thumbs up let me

know what you think I'm curious your last home did you work with an agent

listing or the or the buyer's agent were they with Coldwell Banker or they with

Keller Williams or I'm not talking you know just in New Tampa I'm talking

wherever you are were they with century 21 they with Remax I'm just curious to

see who you're working with who out there and again this isn't the end-all

be-all but it's some good information if you have any questions at all if you do

in the Tampa Bay area I would love to help you out and if you like these

videos give us a thumbs up and leave a comment but have a great day I look

forward to hearing from you

you

Beer For My Horses / Song Friday / Cover request / CC sing along - Duration: 3:18.

Well a man come on the 6 o'clock news

Said somebody's been shot, somebody's been abused

Somebody blew up a building, somebody stole a car

Somebody got away, somebody didn't get too far yeah

They didn't get too far

Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son

A man had to answer for the wicked that he done

Take all the rope in Texas find a tall oak tree,

Round up all them bad boys tie em up in the street

For all the people to see

That justice is the one thing you should always find

You got to saddle up your boys, you got to draw a hard line

When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune

And we'll all meet back at the local saloon

We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing

Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds

Too much corruption, and crime in the streets

It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground

Send 'em all to their maker and he'll settle 'em down

You can bet he'll set 'em down

'Cause justice is the one thing you should always find

You got to saddle up your boys, you got to draw a hard line

When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune

Why I hate to buy Fountain Pen Ink at Amazon - Duration: 12:27.

hello everyone it's stephanie manley and i'm a fountain-pen freak and today i

want to show you why I really don't like purchasing products from Amazon so I

actually had a ton of let's say a ton I had a couple of Amazon giftcards and I

thought what a great thing to do would be to expand my fountain pen ink

collection because I don't have enough and in doing so I really kind of

uncovered why I really hate buying fountain pen supplies from Amazon so

Amazon is great I love Amazon I shop at Amazon more times than people should

each week you know a couple boxes show up I buy groceries from Amazon and buy

pet food all kinds of things but I hate buying fountain pen ink from them or

really um fountain pen supplies in general because these are products that

I actually care about and it bothers me that I guess this is Black Swan and you

can't really tell that because ink came all over the bottle alright this one

wasn't as bad now the bottles are still full oh well the lid is completely

correct on this one so that's awesome um that's probably not something I can

necessarily salvage or work with okay so this lid came cracked this one came in

all mushed up as well oh that's interesting that that hasn't created a

leak yet and this lovely IRA's ooh Kuh bottle has brown ink on it

it looks like the package was a little rough but you know the ink is fine on

the inside so you know it looks new it looks like all the rest of them that I

have there are just a complete that I have about this

so we'll go ahead and swap these out and I'll show you what they look like these

were just some colors I keep like um a list in Evernote of what I would like to

get so here is my ink swatch system so these are actually based

called baseball card holders and what I actually did on one side is cardstock

but I don't really like doing them all with cardstock because you don't see the

nice sheeting so for example these on the other side take this out our actual

done with Tomy river paper and you can see that you actually get more sheeting

and it looks a lot better so here's nooglers Bay State flutes

gorgeous gorgeous color this is the cardstock side yeah and this is the Tom

y river paper side so the colors are just better a great example is the

cactus Noodlers cactus fruit so this is cardstock on this side and this is at my

River paper on this side so I think I got those first so this is my ink system

of how I keep my samples so I bought these baseball card holders at Hobby

Lobby and then I cut two and a half by three and a half inch cards and I did

them both with card stock and Tomoya river paper now this is the tomboy River

paper and I like it much better you don't get to see the sheeny that I have

a mine and but you do get to see that there's a nice variation whereas when I

do it with cardstock it's a very flat it's a very flat appearance but I will

say that the cardstock dries in milliseconds where the other takes a

really long time to dry the two my rubber paper you have to wait for your

ink swabs to dry a little bit okay so I've got three noodler so let me

grab three cards card stock and then I have this three time water on the paper

all right so I have Lexington Grey and I always write the title in Noodlers black

and then I just grab the ink you guys have to be careful with nooglers cuz

it's super full and wow that okay that looks great all right you can see the

cardstock just pulls that up no problem at all so I'm gonna go ahead and spoil

the Tom white river paper as well and you'll see that there is a bit of a

difference right there so that's kind of a nice change from just black so again

you can see a little bit of difference right there alright so there's that back

to the side it's a nice change from the other this nooglers brown right Noodlers

golden brown sorry okay

let me go ahead and do the tomoe River paper one it is a well oh you can hear

my dog is uh playing with one of her squeak toys no that's a really nice

Brown I really like that okay dad is going into a pen all right so just my

new thirst brown and the tomboy and there's a little bit more for the

cardstock again the cardstock it dries and you get the sense of the color well

you don't get any in depth you don't get the richness of the color so and this

was a believe nooglers Black Swan that I'll do next

I always keep one these pilot metropolitans eat up with the nuclear

black because you can write checks with it nobody can

oh this is an example why this paper is not great to write on every day so I

already smushed that up okay let's try it again

that's why that will never be regular writing paper for me okay let's try it

again

that's very Brown I wasn't expecting something to be so

we're Wernicke I thought this one would be more pink

alright so that's a Midler's I did it again black swuan and we'll see what it

looks like on cardstock that's that's more interesting than cardstock alright

there we go there's that one I have two pens this week that I washed out is

really washed out for but I'm going to try to keep a few less in rotation

I have probably ten or twelve in rotation right now I typically empty two

or three and then we'll do the airbrush Asuka Yama puto as well

and then the Tama River paper somehow

okay so we're done with our

there is a gorgeous color I love that

okay I can see that one that one's gonna get inked up gorgeous color there and

we'll do it on cardstock as well

gorgeous color alright reminds me of an acraman color

that I had that I can't think of its name off the top of my head so perfect

so I think um I'm definitely going to ink up my twsbi eco right here with

this expel a bit more that water gorgeous color

so those are my latest acquisitions from fountain pen ink and again it's probably

the last time I'm gonna try to buy ink off of Amazon I don't mind doing it for

somebody like Noodlers because you know they're Midler's price is pretty static

at $12.50 a bottle so I'd like to use that and here's kind of a fun pen it is

a actually right with this move I tab it it is a chin Hal I think it is either

the 450 or the 150 but I did take that nib off and I put on a Goulet nib which

I believe is a yobbo nib and that pen I love because it seems to be fairly

indestructible I take this one to the office all the time because I'm never

worried about anything happening to it so yeah my butoh for that one and then

I'm gonna do the golden brown and then I'm going to file a complaint that

shipping because it's correct okay but there you go so those are my recent

purchases again on Amazon don't necessarily recommend them I would

always suggest that you buy from Penn's store I should have known better

and I just opted to make a bad purchase online so anyway so I hope you enjoyed

this video let me know in the comments down below what type of new thinks you

like or perhaps some of your recent and inked positions thanks so much for

watching

Simple Bowdabra Pom Pom Keychain - Duration: 2:25.

Alright, today we are going to make a pom-pom using our Mini Bowdabra.

We're going to make a little pom-pom, but you can definitely use the big Bowdabra and

make a big pom-pom the exact same way.

So, I'm starting with my yarn.

I'm going to fold my yarn in half and I'm just going to lay that across my Mini Bowdabra,

and I'm going to just tuck the ends, so it stays out of my way.

Now I'm going to just, I'm just going to kind of put a little piece right here, so it stays.

And now I'm just going to wrap the yarn.

(Wrap the yarn about 45 times around the Bowdabra)

Then I'm going to just clip my yarn and take my yarn, and the reason that I folded it in

half is because now I have a slipknot.

So, I'm just going to pull this through.

I'm going to hold my yarn down while I pull this really, really tight.

Then I'm going to take the ends and now take it out of the Bowdabra and bring this around

here.

And Im going to just tie it.

(Tie and knot)

I'm just going to bring my scissors through here and clip.

(Repeat on other side)

And then I'm going to take my yarn here and just pull it through.

Come back over here and tie it off.

Now you could make more loops if you want a thicker pom-pom, but I kind of like this

one.

And now I have a few loops that I missed.

And I'm going to cut these the same length as my other strings.

So, now, you have a really, really cute little pom-pom keychain.
